they have a lot of moments in this ep

I love that you can see Magnus moving closer and putting his hands to Alec’s waist.

(I wish it was more visible in the frame, but if that’s the price to be paid in order to have a closer shot of the kiss — I’ll take it!)

fave su moments courtesy of s4

For the season that has gotten the most backlash, I realized that a lot of my favorite moments in the whole entire series have actually come out of season 4, so I just wanna share them (yes this is long, sorry):

  • that part in Kindergarten Kid when Peridot bubbles her gem and asks “so where does it go?” and Steven answers “home.” Confirmation that Peridot finally viewed the barn, and more importantly the earth, as her home, like that was fuckin precious??
  • in Know Your Fusion when Steven and Amethyst fuse and Garnet is just. in the background squealing for like a solid 10 seconds. Also at the end of the ep when Pearl tells Amethyst she’s been such a good influence on Steven, like my girl getting the credit she deserves? Yes bitch!!
  • The entirety of Mindful Education. Here Comes a Thought still makes me cry, that’s not even a joke
  • That part in Future Boy Zoltron when Steven says to Mr. Smiley “You said you were always trying to make him happy. Did he even know he was making you sad?” In all seriousness, I did not expect that quote to resonate with me so much, like people should not sacrifice their own happiness for the sake of someone else’s, that was some deep and relatable shit that hit me real hard, which I did not expect from an ep titled future boy zoltron.
  • The entirety of Last One Out of Beach City. You guys don’t understand when I say this is my favorite episode, I would Actually die for it
  • The dinner scene in Gem Harvest and Lapis making that mirror joke? Iconic.
  • Stevenbomb 5!!!
  • “There is no Amethyst, only Garnet.” Lapis’ bad british accent debuting in The New Crystal Gems, 57/10
  • My boy Steven finally venting at the end of Storm in the Room, god bless
  • That one fucking Pearl face from Rocknaldo, I don’t have the screenshot but you know the one.
  • Steven and Amethyst!!! Killing me softly with their cuteness in Tiger Philanthropist plus my angel Amethyst’s self-confidence arc coming to a close because she finally feels good about herself, I cried real tears
  • The entirety of Room For Ruby. Just all of it. Lapis’ laugh at the end specifically shot that ep into my Top 5. 10000/10

Really though, I love all of these moments dearly, I love that this season gave them to me, and I love that I can look back on them and they just make me happy.

5x08 review Guillotines Decide

How do you start writing about Guillotines Decide.

Highly anticipated.Murderous.Bittersweet. Emotional.

Some people hated it.Some people got upset. The majority has mixed feelings.

Personally i loved it.

Way too many things happened in only 42 minutes.I felt the episode was 1 hour and a half, not 40+ minutes. All the major ob characters made an appearance and that was lovely. I’m happy to see another female writer getting to tell her story. After 5x05 ( Jenn Engels ) and 5x07( Renée St. Cyr ), 5x08 came with Aisha Porter-Christie .

We’re 2 episodes before the end and 5x08 needed to be the episode that bridges the conclusion of this story with what each character has accomplished so far. Episodes 9 & 10 are gonna be a 2 parter (Graeme confirmed) so Ep 8 was the prelude of the ending.

Guillotines Decide, was more than a farewell to an amazing character. It was an episode about family- the family you choose to be a part of. In the constant battle between  nature and nurture it’s our choices that define who we are and who we want  next to us.

That’s why if i had to pick one quote from this episode that ultimately defines the whole series,it would be this:

We are all mysterious works of chance, of choice, of nature vs. nurture. So, to my galaxy of women, thank you for the nurture.

Fee’s speech was everything.Full of love, support and generosity. His brush  always a doorway through  expression and musing.

It was always about Sarah. His gallery-his own house- full of different versions of her.

She was the key of analyzing how liquidable identity trully is, how the same face can have  multiple personalities and traits, how social labels destroy our own complexity , restraining us from cherishing life the way we want to.

Felix’s art night brought Cosima,Sarah and Alison together as one person. The whole 1 person-multiple personas performance was a brilliant way  of getting the sisters together in one night and watching them happy and more importantly free.

-Alison, carefree, happy to help Fee and trying to wake her inner artistic self. Donnie always with her, supporting her, happy to be a part of this extraordinary family.

-Cosima  back in her own joyous self, more dashing than ever. Laughing, dancing having Delphine with her.

-Sarah, finally realizing that DYAD is going down once and for all, getting to chill and enjoy the night.

It was a well deserved night for them and for us the viewers. After all this angst and pain this joy was much needed and justified. After all, they are so close to freedom.

  • Helena

i loooooved this line, so utterly Helena!

Thank god Gracie didn’t betray Helena again even tho she was that close..

when i saw the gun pointed at G i kinda knew she’s a gonner. So the spoiler source was right 3 persons died in 5x08 indeed.

they’re gonna gag Helena with the Hannibal mask in the next ep jfc

i’m really hoping her character/centric episode will be as intense as Rachel’s was…also her journal and memoirs are gonna be a testimony of courage throughout the next generation of sisters…

  • Rachel

god Rachel Rachel Rachel…i was so scared about the way they’re gonna handle her…i was afraid about her backstabbing S but THANK GOD they did it the right way…

Rachel’s “Be careful” to Siobhan was so broken and authentic, like there was a micro/tiny-possiblity of her subconsiously believing S’s words…

-We do everything we can, each of us in our way

-And we do it for each other.

if you look closely to this scene Rachel is crying in here…jfc she’s a mess of emotions…

… is there a chance for her to be a part of this sisterhood after everything she’s done? Does she really wants to? Will she ever be accepted? Is Siobhan her only hope of ever feeling that she belongs to something??

I haven’t seen Rachel as vulnerable and soft as in 5x08…

and i am DREADING the 2 parter cause after Graeme’s newest interview he confirms that there’s a confrontation coming between Sarah and Rachel…

can you imagine the triumvirate  Sarah,,Helena and Rachel in one scene?

omg IT’S COMING AND IT WILL BE GLORIOUS… i wonder if Helena’s “i’m gonna kill Rachel” is foreshadowing or not…

ok i really wanna set some things straight..

Ferdinand never loved Rachel..neither do i believe that the show is trying to sell us that Fernisshole deeply loved her…i don’t know what the writers have said for him in interviews- and i don’t care tbh , cause from the show itself it’s clear to  me that this isn’t love, it’s just a  game of dominance and nothing more…if the writers wanted to glorify him then he would have helped Rachel bring down DYAD because the only thing she wants is freedom…and Ferdinand never listened to her..

what’s really REALLY sad- and that’s where people should focus- is the fact that poor Rachel thinks that’s real love.

imagine how fucking mentally abused  she was all her life that she believes this is love…can you actually imagine it? How distorted is her image about love because she has never experienced it? And when a human being (let’s pretend F/asshole is human being ) doesn’t betray her then she thinks that’s love…PROTECT RACHEL FUCKIN’ DUNCAN

the struggling attemp…i read posts saying that Rachel is crying about Ferdinand?

i mean

?????/ whAT???

Rachel hit rock bottom she doesn’t give 2 shits about Ferd

at this point, she just wants so fucking HARD to die that F is literally doing her a favor…and the reason he left her live is because HE KNOWS HOW MUCH SHE WANTS TO DIE…so he punishes her that way…not even giving her the redemption she desperately seeks in death… it’s literally freedom or death for her..jesus Rachel’s story arc is one of the most beautiful things in season 5….

there’s only one thing that trully disturbed me in ep 8 and that was the “who’s your daddy” dialogue… i choose to believe that Rachel was just playing his game, leting him say whatever makes him feel good in order to continue with the plan and set herself free..especially the “go go ahead, daddy”..she really needed him to kill her jfc

at fucking LLLAAAAaaAAAaaast

about bloody time…this episode kept giving and giving i mean?!! I never thought we would have so many Delphine moments jfc

a lot of firsts…first skype call with the ledas…first time that someone openly acknowledged her worth in protecting the ledas in front of others (Ms S in the skypecall)

for YOU, especially you Cos babe..this girl is screaming her love to you for 5 seasons…

she gave everything…her body, her life, her safety, your relationship, EVERYTHING just to keep you safe- is there anything more pure than that?

and not only that even Adele that doesn’t know Delphine at all said it!!

And Delphine, all she did was whatever Siobhan told her too…

However strong and powerful Delphine might seem, in reality she was craving to hear those words and to feel accepted…imagine living in the shadows of doubt and accusations all this time..trying to ignore everyone’s distrust because you fucking love this girl that much..her smile says it all

Cophine was glorious in this episode. And it’s not about the cuteness or fluffiness. What really got me is the sentimentality of their moments. They were finally free.

To talk,to fool around,to stupidly dance  or to do nothing at all.Things that were ruthelessly taken away from them.Things that normal couples do.And now their life together is so palpable they can almost taste it.

-you like it that much?

Cosima darling , after all this time you still don’t have a clue huh?

what really does it for me in this scene, is how Delphine is lost in the painting and her realisation while Cosima’s whole world at this moment is Del..they’re in a crowded place only breathing for each this point i can’t even tell who’s  more in love

and of fucking course she would buy the painting i mean D-U-H

totally loved the

-you own me

joke in regards to the painting.. it’s a too-soon-bad-kind-of-joke aka exactly so utterly Cosima-thing to say

however the ultimate cophine scene for me in 5x08 will be this

unscripted, bittersweet and so very intimate…tears of joy is something that ob doesn’t give us very often and i wanna thank Tatiana for that…i’m in awe with that girl and her performances…she is that i have MAD respect for her….and Ebro totally went for it uplifting the scene even more….they are amazing together, their chemistry is magnetic.

imagine for how long did poor Cosima bottled up all those feelings and fears…she didn’t even dare to dream how it would be like to be free..and now it’s happening and she’s not alone, and she gets to share this moment  with the person she needed the most.

Delphine is cocooning her, always the rock and shoulder to cry on.Imagine the sex after this moment (cough COPHINE WRITERS U KNOW WHAT TO DO)

A glorious farewell to a badass character.A bittersweet goodbye to a woman of multiple roles. Warrior, mother, daughter, ally,  the head of the family .The person that glued the Manning household. The invisible pillar.

It fucking broke me that S is dead. But she did it on her terms. Her death was not meaningless. It wasn’t just a “someone had to die” fiasco. Ferdinad needed to die from her hands cause they had unsettled business.I even took pleasure that he died first.Siobhan won in every way possible. She achieved what was the most important task for her : keep Kira safe, her kids alive and bring DYAD down. She did everything she was supposed to do.Killed Ferdinand to get revenge for MK and even gave Rachel a chance to reevaluate her choices/ reengage with her sisters.

S needed to to die cause Sarah needed that final push to transform to the sisterhood’s savior.

Remember episode 4? It was 200% foreshadowing

of what it means to become you.

this is it.That is the moment of Sarah’s transformation. This is how she’s going to take responsibility for everything that’s to come. Her  bonding with S will finally make her realize how is she going to save her sisters and the next generations.

Cause if we go back to s5 ep 1 and Cosima-Sarah’s exchange, Sarah didn’t care about PT or  the implications of his plan to the future generations..she just wanted her family and sisters to be ok…now tho..she knows what’s at stake..she will be stronger, bolder and more ready to fight. She will carry on her mother’s plan.

And i can’t wait to see her arise from her ashes of sorrow and make Beth and Siobhan proud.

anonymous asked:

do you think Victor and Yuuri ever fight/argue? if so, how do they do it? idk how realistic it is to be all lovey dovey all the time

oh definitely! It’d be way too unrealistic if they never had any fights or arguments (in fact I think lack of arguments is a bad sign in a relationship?)

I headcanon that Victor is the type of person to show his annoyance/frustration in a passive-aggressive-lowkey-scathing way (see: the “Aeroflot” comment in ep 4), while Yuuri (when he does decide to speak about his feelings) is more… straightforward (see: parking lot scene in ep 7). This could potentially cause clashes.

Tbh I don’t think either of them are particularly good at articulating their feelings but as their relationship progresses they would get better at it… they might struggle quite a bit in the process, though; maybe they’ll have little moments of frustration building up to a huge outburst.

But having said that: one of my fav moments from the canon is the “lost bag of nuts” situation in ep 10…. their little moment by the bench, where they become frustrated with each other. There’s definitely some tension and awkwardness in the air after that moment. But there is no explicit moment of resolution; the tension kind of diffuses as they walk through the Christmas market, and they soon act like nothing had happened. I interpreted this as proof that they are mature enough to let go of small moments of frustrations like this without making a fuss.

I could honestly write an essay about this… but essentially I think they might struggle in the beginning of their relationship because of their inherent differences in character and because both of them can be pretty stubborn at times. Both can be pretty petty, too.

But they are NOT unreasonable people. (for e.g.: Yuuri was pretty forgiving of his inexperienced coach even though he made him cry in the parking lot.) They are reasonable enough to acknowledge the flaws in each other and to be able to come to terms with these issues. While I do think some of their fights may potentially devolve into tearful shouting matches… I’m pretty sure they’d be able to resolve it, because they would be willing to do so.

I think they wouldn’t be able to stay mad at each other for too long, and as long as they love each other, they’d be willing to swallow their pride and meet each other where they are.

tfw it’s almost midnight 6 months after the final problem aired and for some reason that’s the moment you notice eurus imagined herself wearing crocs and then you remember that a long time ago you blogged a joke about crocs and after a bunch of digging you find it only to discover the punchline’s about an island prison for supervillains and a painfully elaborate plan to kill your arch-enemy

I'm in love with that moment in the latest ep when Kara scrunched her face right before kissing Mon-El, dunno why, just in love w it

This precious moment right here??

I have so many feelings about it as well! Let me start by saying, bless Melissa and Chris’s acting choices because I feel like a lot of what makes these scenes so special are these little moments. I feel like Kara is just taken by a surge of affection. He just melted her heart and she can’t even hide it. And Kara is usually very expressive with her face. I feel like her reaction means “my boyfriend is the sweetest person ever and he admires me so much, it melts my heart!!” and also “I really am in love with you!”. And that’s so beautiful.

i keep cr playing in the bg because as a podcast relaxes me a lot while i do my other shits, and this moment happened, back in ep37 and i was like “yea why not drawing it”
i never got to draw art directly from happenings of the older eps because caught up with cr very late (like at ep 73?) but if i had watched this episode live, i would have surely made art about this moment, so yea. here it is.
when it was easier.

(Monii) About #jikookthrowback ep3: It just really sunk in that Jikook spend A LOT of time with each other (All night+70% of the day). Like damn, they must really like spending time together. They drive each other nuts and still go back for more. #GenuineJikook. But did you see the staff reaction when JM came for JK after his long ass wait? They lowkey ship jikook (was smiling non-stop). (P.S I think you might have to do Ep.4 in two or four posts 'cause it has 4 parts...heehee #SorryNotSorry)

the staff high key ship them i’m telling you, they all couldn’t stop smiling when jimin came to take jungkook home after waiting for hm for five hours, they were probably thinking that that was literally the cutest/sweetest  thing ever(the fact that jimin chose to wait for his boyfirend for 5 hours to go home with him instead of leaving like the other members.. )

they love spending time together,

even though they spend most of the day together because they “have to” they also “choose” on their own free will to spend even their “free” time together  [all nighter boyfirends _ “every night” bedroom visits_those dance covers_],

that says a lot about how much :they genuinely like each other;the level of connection between them;the mutual attraction/understanding .. it says a lot about everything acually!

and like you said even though they drive each other crazy they are inseparable, like the moment above, despite how annoyed jimin must have been, he still looked happy/sweet for finally getting to go home with jungkook, and i mentioned this before but there’s also the time in “bon voyage” where jungkook kept saying “he’s driving me crazy” about jimin for being so slow but still happily waited for him . they enjoy each other’s company that much, is what i’m trying to say!

i’m so ready for the fourth ep, plz hit me with it!

All Debts Paid

Not gonna lie, I was surprised at the - at times - lukewarm and choice of direction they chose for this ep. Wasn’t the best of decision making at times.

Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf, that’s how the destruction of Claire and Frank’s marriage has been described for a long time, so naturally a lot of us expected fireworks. But what we got in a sense instead was… A ticking bomb that didn’t so much go off with an almighty bang, but a more simmering fizzle. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the fights, but more for Cait’s performance than the substance of said fights. The portrayal of Frank as some bleeding heart that just wanted to be loved just felt off, and while yes, they gave him a mistress, was it really cheating when they made Claire know about it all along? By doing so, they made Claire look colder than she was. They stripped Frank of all his other questionable behavior and mentalities. They kept him vindictive, but with an ‘he has cause to be’ undertone that I didn’t care for at all. The mistress showing up at the house showed a glimpse of the man readers know Frank to be. An utter asshole.

While I love that Claire made her voice heard with a vigor and passion Cait portrayed perfectly in that last fight, I’d have loved it even more if a lot more of the book dialogue was used. Not even just Frank’s, but Claire’s - during her goodbye at the hospital esp. Its simple, to the point and conveys perfectly what Claire had always felt. Simply saying “I did love you - Once.” would have - for me - undercut everything they said to each other with a heartbreaking finality. “Once”.

I honestly expected a little more with Joe and Bree in this ep, but everything seemed a little rushed and abrupt. My hope’s that we will get that much needed foundation building between Claire and Bree, and a lot more depth with Claire and Joe as well, in the next couple of episodes.

MURTAGH!! OMG I was beyond pumped to see that scruffy grump, and even though the moment RDM let drop he was alive robbed us of the surprise, I still loved that how he showed up, when most of us had predicted he would, but still lol. I got emotional just hearing him talk about Claire and how he thought of her from time to time. A reunion I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE - whenever that’d be (probs s4 lol) honestly, Murtagh was my fave part of the whole ep.

Its no secret I’m not a big fan of LJG, but I have to say David Berry was great. I still feel for him as I always have - meh - but the man had one sexy voice I can listen to all day (headphones are a gift for that 😉).

It was interesting how they handled Jamie’s side of things. Keeping him in irons for 3 years instead of 1 was an odd, over exaggerated choice for me. Loved how they played out Kerr’s story - though wouldn’t an educated man such as Grey have learned at least French at some point in his schooling? - anyways there was one very disjointed section of the episode that had me scratching my head thoroughly. I honestly thought I had a dodgy version of the ep when Jamie at Ellen’s Tower didn’t happen! It was such a focal point of the previews and I was fully expecting it in this ep, that when the ep jumped from Grey saying “Escaped?” to him on the cliff with the officer, to Jamie’s abrupt return, my confusion had me thoroughly going WTAF?! I REALLY do hope we do get to see that scene eventually, even in flashbacks, when Jamie tells Claire about it later. Felt a very odd, rushed section of the ep that just didn’t quite click right.

Anyways, I didn’t mind the ep, overall, but it lacked a certain… Fiery passion, I suppose, that would have pushed the ep into a deepness it lacked. Perhaps a rewatch will give me a better sense of it, but on first viewing, it was ok, but could’ve been great.

Additional thoughts:

I loved seeing Jamie tend to Murtagh using what he learned from Claire. His whole “eating greens prevents you from getting scurvy,” was said in such a Claire-esque manner, like how do you not know this, dude?! was really fun to see.
New Novel Will Tell The Stories Between Arrow Season 5 and 6

Seemingly before the news was meant to go public, Amazon has listed Arrow: Fatal Legacies, a new novel by James R. Tuck and Arrow EP Marc Guggenheim which will “bridge the gap” between Arrow season 5 and 6.

While the cliffhanger left at the end of season 5 – an exploding island, with Oliver moments away from returning to check on his loved ones – may not seem like it needs a lot of “bridging” to an episode that ads indicate takes place largely on the island during his rescue mission, that ignores threads left dangling throughout the back half of season 5, which have not yet been resolved.

One fan, for instance, asked on Twitter whether the book would include Vigilante, who vanished with a few episodes left in the season after being kicked off a roof by Prometheus. Guggenheim confirmed that it would.

According to the official synopsis, the novel (which will be published by Titan books) is “the untold story bridging between ARROW seasons 5 and 6, exclusive to this novel! In the devastating aftermath of season five, Team Arrow must resume their mission to protect Star City. Those who have survived Chase’s trap on Lian Yu discover that his plans did not end there. If his legacies aren’t stopped, countless more will die. Co-authored by Arrow series producer Marc Guggenheim and James R. Tuck (Robin Hood: Mark of the Black Arrow).”

The book will be available in January, presumably serving as an ideal companion to Arrow’s winter hiatus. Given the major shocks that have shaken the series in the last few midseason finales, one has to wonder whether some of the elements set up in the novel will be things that pay off in December’s final Arrow.

Fatal Legacies is not the first spinoff novel to come out of Arrow. Arrow: Vengeance centered on Oliver’s relationship with Slade Wilson/Deathstroke, while The Flash and others appeared in Arrow: A Generation of Vipers. Guggenheim has also contributed to numerous comic book tie-ins to Arrow. This is the first tie-in prose novel to which Guggenheim has contributed.

11.15: Dean Walks Into A Bar

How are we still debating this? I mean really.

Now normally I don’t usually consider the same things as a No Homo that a lot of people seem to (because bisexual means he likes BOTH, yes good okay), buuuut I’m not going to deny that “HEY, REMINDER THAT DEAN LIKES WOMEN, YES?” isn’t something that happens, and that it doesn’t end up being fodder for the Dean-is-straight-and-you-are-dumb people.

So. That fucking said.

The moments in this ep where a No Homo would have been shoved in not only just didn’t exist, but were DELIBERATELY PASSED OVER. Let me explain. –No, it’ll take too long, let me sum up.

Dean walks into the bar, and sees the girl dancing on the table.

He looks, but he doesn’t get invested. No smirking, no once-over, none of the tell-tale “aw yeah” reactions we usually get from Dean. The one who gets his attention is Rio, who gets a friendly, nonsexual nod of solidarity.

Then there’s a girl laying down on a table with her mouth open and being fed alcohol all sexy-like. Dean not only doesn’t look interested, but he gets that “oh, well, all right” face that people tend to make when they’re watching something that isn’t quite their thing.

And then he sees Gunner and makes a goddamn beeline.

Here’s his face when Gunner knows his name without asking and hands him a shot.

This is not subtle. It’s not played off as so much of a joke that it’s an effective No Homo. If you made it through tonight’s episode without at least suspecting that Dean isn’t straight, those Hetero Lenses are welded to your damn face.

hi! can you recommend a list of robrae episodes to watch? i'm planning to rewatch teen titans again, but i only really want to watch the episodes that are heavily robrae. thank you ^^

rly heavy robrae eps:

  • birthmark
  • the prophecy
  • the end (part 1) (part 2) & (part 3) - to be clear, part 2 doesn’t have a lot of robin/raven interactions, but it’s a LOT of robin talking/thinking/looking for raven that gets ya heart hurtin

eps with good robrae in em:

  • nevermore
  • fear itself
  • titan rising
  • haunted
  • the beast within
  • bunny raven
  • go!

eps with one or two robrae moments that i enjoy:

  • terra
  • fractured
  • aftershock part 2
  • spellbound
  • snowblind
  • hide and seek

enjoy :D

anonymous asked:

you said there was a similarity between clarke and bellamy in 4x01, but i couldnt see it. what do you mean by that?

i don’t think you’ll ever know how glad i am that you didn’t say ‘parallel’. i am a film student and i am so sick of that word lol (thx fandom). this might just be me but i personally think it’s not a particularly productive way to call everything a parallel. there is quite a difference between having a similar scene and an actual parallel that you will immediately catch. i feel that most people in this fandom don’t seem to understand the difference since they keep using that term in cases in which it should not be used. so yea, kudos to you for not going with that one. either way though. yes, i did say that there are obvious similarities (or at least that’s how i look at them) in how the writers decided to deal with bellamy’s and clarke’s respective individual arcs and how they managed to fuse them together by the end of the episode, and i’m gonna stand by that interpretation for now, because it makes the most sense to me.

(i dont have much time so i’mma have to keep this short)

i found 4x01 to be fascinating on many levels, from the intense focus on interpersonal relationships to the political/universal conflicts/issues. we get a lot of information in this ep alone and it’s all bewildering as much as it is exciting, because shit is gonna hit the fan real fucking fast. what caught my attention regarding bellamy and clarke though is this: you have an interplay between the visual, emotional camerawork and the written, intellectual narrative (text) that creates an expression of continuation within their personal relationship.

let’s start with the obvious: both characters deal with their dead loved ones in this episode (lexa and gina).

MST3K Ep. 1101 thoughts

Alrighty, so after seeing the premiere for the new season, I have to say…

Despite some minor reservations, I enjoyed it as much as I hoped I would! Here’s some of the thoughts and impressions I had: (And I’ll try not to be too spoilery)

-Right off the bat they’ve already nailed the cheap DIY feel of the original show, just with a bit more polish and larger scope.
-Slightly disappointed that they’re filming it at 24fps instead of sticking with the shot-on-video look, but they probably did that to avoid “telecine jidder” when showing the movies, among other reasons.
-Jonah’s character seems to get dropped right into the premise of the show and so far there’s little to nothing connecting it with the end of Diabolic. A little concerning, but I remember hearing how Bobo And Brain Guy will be returning as some point, so perhaps there’ll be more of a connection showing up later on.
-New theme song isn’t half bad, and what little I’ve seen the new Mads so far (Felica and Patton), they seem too play off each other really well.
-*deep breath* I LOVE CROW’S NEW VOICE!!! Hampton’s version of Crow seems to take from both Trace and Bill, the voice somewhere between both of them and the personality leaning towards Trace, and I totally love it <3 The new Servo is damn good as well, and most importantly he can sing like hell.
-Yes, Crow and Servo’s arms work now! ‘Bout time if you ask me.
-Not sure where I stand on Jonah right now, but overall he’s pretty good. He gets the job done and maybe I’ll warm up to him more as I see more episodes.
-Gypsy, hmm, it’s gonna take some some time to get use to her new voice, but she’s not bad. Hope she gets more of a presence on the show this time.
-Host segments range from decent to really good. There’s a catchy musical number, and also a segment involving Servo that fits right in with the old show.
-The movie choice for the first ep is excellent and perfect riffing fodder. I also like seeing the widescreen shadowrama in the theater.
-Jonah and the bots all interact with the screen a little more, I personally found it kinda cute. Vaguely reminded me of some of the sight gags from Joel’s Cinematic Titanic. (which I still think is pretty underrated)
-Also the riffing is…pretty darn great to be honest! It’s a lot more rapid-fire then previous seasons and there’s hardly a dull moment. That said however…
-I think the one significant issue I have (and apparently I’m not alone on this) is that the pacing & timing of the riffing could use some work, because much of the time it sorta feels like the riffing is a bit overstuffed. They’re saying riffs really fast and sometimes it’s difficult to match the jokes to what’s on screen, and sometimes the jokes come almost a little too early.
Despite all that it’s still really good riffing, it’s not a huge deal for me but I just have to be a little more attentive when watching. Hopefully they’ll learn to add some more breathing room to the riffs as the season goes on.
-Last but not least, the new ending theme is amazing. Seriously, it is epic

So overall, I think this is a rock-solid premiere for the new MST3K. Sure there’s lots of new things to adjust to, but there’s lots of ways this could’ve been worse and what I’ve seen so far is very promising.

MST3K is back, baby. Bring on the rest of the season!

I think up until ‘Alone’ I was kinda torn on how to interpret Bethyl. I mean, as with any ship that’s up to the perspective of the individual viewer, but I mean more some 50/50 draw between what I felt the show was implying and what I felt worked. I say that up until Alone one could say they were just meant to be a close platonic bond in terms of what the show meant to imply (not on my behalf, really, I was already sold on every interpretation possible) because there’s a brief moment in this ep we get a suggestion of something else, at least IMO.

It’s really quick and one of those things a person could handwave away if they wanted (and I’m sure they have lol); that moment where Beth’s pushing Daryl to explain what changed his mind about there still being good people in the world and it’s very playful on her behalf UNTIL she realizes who he’s talking about.

Now, this scene could have easily been played a lot more friendly/platonic. Like, say, if it was between Eugene and Abraham and when one of them realized who the other was talking about there probably wouldn’t be this strong, palpable tension suggestive of something else they aren’t addressing but are both 100% aware of.

That’s what gives away romantic possibilities to me for Bethyl, that when she realizes who he’s talking about she stills and goes quiet and there’s every bit of realization in her eyes that she’s stumbled upon a discovery much more startling than ‘oh yeah, I’m the one whose shown him there are still good people around’. That alone might warrant a flattered smile or something, but here, hers is a look of abject, like, “Oh…OH??!?” which would only be wrought if there was something else implied by this exchange.

While, as with any pairing, I think anyone is allowed to interpret/headcanon as they like, to deny that there were ever romantic implications between these two characters as intended by the show’s subtext is to deny what was plainly put down for our consumption.

(Also I realize this pairing is much older than my very short existence in this fandom and you all have probably hashed this all out several times over, but as I JUST discovered it literally last night and the night before, maybe you’ll humor me? XD)
