they are afraid of new ideas

Say no to bad dates, bad friends, and bad ideas. Stop going out when you’d rather stay in. Don’t do things that make you unhappy. But don’t be afraid to say yes to spontaneous nights out, new adventures, and facing your fears. Because it’s true what they say, life is short, and it’s passing you by right now while you read this. So if there’s anything you want to change in your life don’t wait. This is your moment.

1. Have a Positive Mental Attitude- Prime yourself at being always comfortable and confident that u can do a lot better at studying. Remember that you are studying things that will prove to be valuable in real life.

2. Prepare your Work Space- Look for a place in your home or bedroom where u think u can study and maintain concentration in your work. Have materials stocked up and in place before your study. This way, u can finish your work without any interruptions.

3. Avoid Cramming- study an hour a day even when there’s no homework. Scan your notebooks and do a little advanced reading of your textbooks. You can also research through the internet to learn more about the topics u are covering in school.  I suggest google scholar, it’s like google but for students, it has the citations, and filters results so that only helpful outcomes appear.

4. Do projects with more enthusiasm and creativity- Don’t be afraid to think of new ideas or ways to present your homework or projects. Teachers always give additional points to students who show great effort in their works. SO, don’t be afraid to do something original, do something that hasn’t been done before.

5. Raise Your Hand- Be active and establish a friendly attitude towards your teachers. Offer to help them out in checking some work, filing papers or just carrying their things. Little good things add up in the end for that extra effort grade, and they’ll always remember you as a very helpful student.

6. Enjoy Reading the Latest News- Find connections or associations with your life as a student, as a child, as a friend, or as a citizen. Certain reports would always ask for u to react so better be ahead with current events which you may be affected with.

7. Listen to Your Teacher, take a few notes- In my experience, the more i copy and take down notes, the more i get lost in the lecture. It is best to listen first and understand before u jot down any important keywords. Yes, use keywords, simple doodles and arrows to make associations. These will help u remember all concepts mentally.

8. Keep Notes on Index Cards- I use personally use the smaller oxford ones, they are more portable honestly pretty aesthetic..

9. Watch TV Wisely- Yep you heard it, TV, when watching TV I sometimes pick up points which may seem relevant in my life. They sometimes even have something to do with what’s happening in class at the moment so, always initiate conversation about the latest shows and issues you have watched. Don’t be afraid to argue and defend your opinions.

I miss this place. I miss making funny things for all of you. I miss interacting with all of my wonderful followers. I miss meeting new people. I just miss it all so much.

But I’m afraid things beyond my control have kept me away. I just don’t have the energy or concentration to keep up with my tumblr. I have a hard time coming up with funny ideas. I have an even harder time finding a way to turn those ideas into posts. I’ve had to give up photography all together. I tried just eating a meal with my parents for my birthday, and after ten minutes of sitting up straight, I ran out of energy and had to lay back down. My chronic fatigue, my narcolepsy, my depression… they all seem to fight one another in an unending battle that just keeps getting worse and worse. It’s hard to describe just how tired I am. How fatigued my body gets. How my limbs feel like they weigh hundreds of pounds.

I’ve run out of doctors to see. Treatments to try. Pills to take. Injections to… inject. My only last real hope is to go to the Mayo Clinic. They have a knack for creating treatments for people with complicated medical needs. But there’s the rub. They are out of state. My insurance wouldn’t cover it. I’d have to stay for days or even weeks. I barely have enough to pay for food, much less a ticket to another state. At this moment, it just doesn’t seem like a possible option.

If there is a bright side… I’m comfortable. I’m not in any pain. I am plenty occupied with the internet, TV, and movies. And in the category of “mixed blessings” I am emotionally numb. No, I cannot feel great joy. Which kinda sucks. But I also cannot feel great sadness. No despair. I still get lonely from time to time. And maybe a little.. frustrated. But I cope with those things pretty well most of the time. I think if I did have emotions at the moment, they would all suck pretty hard. So I feel like at this point, it isn’t so bad being a little numb.

I have a couple of great friends that stick with me even when I’m a huge bummer. I have two amazing parents that take care of me when I can’t manage to care for myself. I have a quirky little dog that visits me from time to time.

I know there are chronic conditions that cause much physical and mental pain. I know I don’t have much of a life at the moment, but I am grateful that I can stay reasonably comfortable. Though I could go without the kidney stones I seem to keep getting. Having those removed is just awful and my last recovery period did not go well at all.

In any case, I just wanted to let you all know I am still around. I promise I am not giving up. But I am also coming to terms with the fact that I might not be able to do much about my situation. I will continue to seek out new treatments, medications, and even doctors that might help. I try to keep tabs on the latest research. Maybe some day they will find a key to this jail I’m stuck in.

You all have brought me so much joy. It has been an honor entertaining you over the years. This is by no means a goodbye. Perhaps just a “see ya later.” Take care of yourselves. Take care of one another. Stay strong. And perhaps keep me in your thoughts every once in a while. I guess it’s just nice knowing I’m not forgotten. Helps keep me going day to day.

  • let yourself take two or three mental health days a semester
  • on hard days, let yourself come home and just take a nap/ vegg for a while. make sure you only do this every three weeks or so, or else it’ll become habit

  • take advantage of a study hall if you have one
  • cheating/copying homework will teach you nothing, but you gotta do what you gotta do. use caution
  • don’t party too hard
  • no one will pressure you to do drugs ever, but they are out there
  • football games are fun, even if you have no idea wtf is going on
  • just breathe. it’s your freshman year, so everything is new, but you’ll adjust quickly
  • if ur lost, ask for directions
  • try to have fun a little bit maybe

The fact that Luna is a Ravenclaw and Hermione is a Gryffindor is super important to me.

Like Hermione could easily have been a Ravenclaw if we just went by her passion for knowing things. But simply knowing things isn’t all intelligence is. Intelligence doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with how “book smart” someone is. You have to be willing to look outside the box and use what you know in a useful way. That’s the creative, wise, open-minded aspect of Ravenclaw that seems to get overlooked.

And the one thing that I think got in Hermione’s way was her fear of failure. A fear of being wrong. And being wrong is part of the learning experience and it’s not something that I feel a Ravenclaw would be afraid of but instead they’d expect it and welcome whatever revelations came from it. A Gryffindor can’t afford to be wrong because if they are going to do something brave and daring then failure could have terrible consequences.

Luna on the other hand is someone who might not be very good academically at all. We don’t know for sure. But her way of looking at the world is so unique and seemingly impossible. She’s creative and open to new ideas and accepting of other people’s differences which is the ideal attitude to have for learning. When she answered the question to get into Ravenclaw tower, the knocker did not say she was right or wrong, rather it said “well reasoned” which suggests that maybe there doesn’t have to be one definite correct answer because HOW she came to her conclusion is what mattered. How often do you think her professors gave her correct marks on essays and things because she wasn’t “technically” wrong? How would they have made it to the Department of Mysteries in OOTP if she hadn’t suggested they fly on Thestrals when half of the group couldn’t even see them? Her ability to see what others couldn’t is how they solved that particular problem and that’s part of what Ravenclaw is all about.

Ravenclaws don’t necessarily do something simply because it’s logical, but they use logic to do something better than everyone else. That’s the difference between Hermione and Luna to me.

A brief note to my rp partners

I am probably one of the worst rp partners in the history of the activity.
- I drop threads.
- I lose threads.
- I take my threads in odd directions that should probably never be explored.
- I go through phases where I’ll only respond to two or three of my partners.
- I go through phases where I’ll only respond to a single thread, and you’re left wondering why I’m not responding to you.

Sometimes I can be a really great partner -
- I might be really on top of replies.
- I might have everything in my ask box answered.
- I might be perfectly in synch with where you’re trying to take the thread.

Sometimes I’m not.

But the great thing is that it’s okay!
- When I drop a thread you like just tell me! Chances are it’s in drafts or I’ve lost it.
- Even if we try a dozen different things and nothing sticks, don’t be afraid to start a new thread with me or come to me with an idea.
- Sometimes I’ll be overwhelmed by everything I have going on, and I’ll have to put you on the list of rp’s to start.
- Sometimes I’ll jump right on the thread and then drop it after a few days.
- Sometimes we’ll carry the thread out all the way to the end, and have a grand old time getting there.

But please, remember that each of my rp partner’s is valuable to me.
- Even the ones my muse doesn’t like.
- Even the ones I’ve only done a thread or two with.
- Even the at I used to rp with and don’t any more.

You are significant.

You matter.

The truth is that I’m afraid to dive into someone new. How can I not be? I’m still emptying my lungs from the last time I fell into someone’s waters and explored the depths of them. It’ll be years before I’m done wringing the wetness out of my hair, before I stop smelling the salt of their oceans on my skin. Learning someone new is frightening now. It’s not the adventure it was before. I’m no longer bitter for my heartbreak. My reluctance isn’t a decision I made with a sour mouth. I’m just exhausted by the idea of feeling for someone new. Of treading water with small talk and stories about our childhoods. When I think of him, I am afraid of sinking so deeply into someone again that I am lost to them. In that, I realize I am most afraid that I won’t sink at all. That I’ll always be treading water with anyone that isn’t him. That anyone after him will only know how to meet me at the surface.

Advice to Baby Witches

Here’s some things I wish someone told me when I was first starting out

  • You’re gonna find a lot of sources that are Wiccan. So if you don’t want to follow Wicca, it might be harder to find things that talk from a non- Wiccan perspective. This is not the only perspective. I encourage you even if you are wanting to follow Wicca to seek out specifically non-Wiccan sources to get a different view point. (nothing against Wicca here; I just think it’s healthy to get differing opinions)

  • It’s still witchcraft even if it doesn’t look like what books/Internets witchcraft looks like. Remember that:
    1. Everyone has a different way of doing things and your craft will never ever be the same as anyone else’s.
    2. The people posting about what witchcraft they’ve done are most of the time showing a perfected version of it. You are just starting out. You should not hold yourself up to the standards of people who have had more time and practice.
    3. It’s actually good that it doesn’t look like anyone else’s because that means that it’s entirely your own.
  • I know it can feel very daunting first getting involved in witchcraft because there is so much to learn. Trust me, you cannot learn everything, and that is okay.

  • Take things step by step. Find something that really excites you. For example, say you are really interested in deity worship. Focus on just that first. Research different deities and meditate on the ones that interest you. Once you feel like you’ve learned enough (you don’t have to be an expert by any means, just to a point where you feel like you have your foot in the door) then you can move on to something else. You don’t have to do it this way, but I found it helped me narrow things down.

  • The idea that “if you don’t know what your doing with witchcraft it can backfire” is a myth. Don’t be afraid to explore, learn new things. That being said, I wouldn’t recommend doing anything outside your skill level either. Maybe save the big deal curses for when you have a good grasp on them. Listen to your intuition on this one, if you feel like something you’re doing is too much for you, don’t do it right away, but work your way up. Don’t give up on it, either. Like I said, if you feel like you don’t have the ability to do something, get to a point where you do.

  • You will have thoughts like “this won’t work” “you’re being stupid” “it’s just some *conventionally useless item*, that can’t do ANYTHING” this is okay. Any intrusive thoughts that tell you it’s not going to work are fine, especially if you are mentally ill. It does not mean your magic looses it’s power because you had an intrusive thought. Yes, the best way to make your magic work is to believe it will work, but intrusive thoughts will not automatically stop the magic from working. Just try your best to overcome them, whatever technique you have for that will work fine. I always use my inner voice to talk back to my intrusive thoughts and say something like “What? That doesn’t even make sense! You’re being ridiculous, random voice in my head that has no attachment to me.” and try to ignore it. Your mental illness does not make you a less powerful of a witch, remember that.

  • You are much more powerful than you realize. Own this. Be empowered by it.

  • You don’t have to have a whole bunch of extravagant altars and read your tarot cards and meditate every day to be considered a ‘real’ witch. You do magic without even realizing it sometimes. It’s sometimes hard to do anything big because of busy schedules/low spoons/being closeted or whatever. Try and incorporate little things in your daily routine. I did this by Stirring my tea clockwise and focusing on the cup, while repeating “this tea will improve my day” in my head. It works great for practicing putting your intent in things, focusing your energy, and it can even work if you live in an unfriendly witch household! Get creative with the little things you can do everyday. And even if you can’t do those things sometimes, don’t worry about it!

  • Be very careful about cultural appropriation in your practice. It can get very dicey as to what is offensive to include in your practice and what is not. I can tell you straight up right now that anything taken from a Native American culture is not okay to incorporate in your practice. A very popular thing that’s taken from Native American culture is smudging. Don’t smudge. There are many alternatives to this. That being said, some things are ok to take from other cultures because those cultures aren’t practiced by living people/are part of a culture or religion that is open to outsiders taking it. Don’t bat yourself up for doing something then finding out it was offensive, because when you recognize it then take necessary steps to fix it, that’s you growing as a person and is a positive change. If you aren’t sure if what your doing is cultural appropriation, ask yourself:

    1. Is what I’m doing practiced by a group of people today? if yes, you’re in the danger zone, but it does not  necessarily mean it is appropriation
    2. Is the religion that it comes from a closed or open religion? (this means is it ok for outsiders, people who do not follow the religion, to practice it. example-Judaism=closed, wicca=open) If closed, it’s probably appropriation.
    3. Am I apart of a race that has a history of oppressing this group of people? If yes, you might want to be cautious about it.
    4. If it is deity related- Do the deities in question give me permission? if no, then definitely do not do it.
    5. What would a person from that religion/culture think if they saw me doing this? If they would not like it, it might not be okay.
    6. Is this from my heritage/ancestral background? Don’t worry too much if the answer is no but you passed most of the other questions, This one is mostly because if you grew up in a Jewish/Catholic/Muslim/other closed religion household, wanting to incorporate that in your practice is ok.

  • You do not have to be religious to practice witchcraft. Your craft can exclude deity work of any kind.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask what you feel are stupid questions. If your really scared, google is a very handy tool and most blogs have that anon option for a reason. :p

Mmk, spoons are low. Feel free to add any advice you think I’m missing. I really hope this helps someone!

Airmom, what does each sign represent while in their season? Everyone is saying that cancer season will help us to reevaluate our feelings and bring hidden feelings to the surface, for example. Thank you!

I took longer than I wanted to because I kept taking breaks dnwakjfnkqefne, but here you go!

Aries season: be impulsive if you want, dare yourself to do things, beginnings, let go of stopping yourself from things, let go of your inner-child

Taurus season: time to be stable and recover from Aries season, value everything you have (even the things you own), spend less time buying things, take a rest, the results of Aries will be shown, (Taurus in your chart shows where you should focus on in order to see results in your life)

Gemini season: time to balance your sides, whether it’d be your good side or your bad side, time to learn and to relate, find possibilities, where your Gemini is, is where you’re most likely to adapt to, it’s where you create the possibilities

Cancer season: time to reflect and let go, to protect everything that’s dear to you, a time to feel vulnerable and let go of the feelings you’ve tried avoiding, find your inner peace

Leo season: a time to create, project confidence where Leo rules, look for ways to create and build, find joy in everything, go towards life with an enthusiastic smile

Virgo season: time to analyze and be more critical, time to edit, fix, re-view, look at your responsibilities (the house Virgo is ruled), pause and think

Libra season: time to find balance in relationships, find harmony in everything in order to maintain harmony, become more involved with your friends or anyone you have a bond with, don’t hide yourself behind technology, see the pros and cons in everything, a time to create stronger bonds

Scorpio season: time to feel or experience transform in the house Scorpio rules, look at the meanings, a time to be more conscious of the deeper and meaningful things in life

Sagittarius season: a time to naturally visualize future possibilities, realizing that time is running, and that days are just passing by, a feeling and sense of survival

Capricorn season: time where you may try to build a wall for protection from being vulnerable and keeping in touch with environment, where we may have to give respect of each others privacy in order to recover from the year, time to learn and to grow, find boundaries

Aquarius season: where Aquarius rules is where we want to strong attack and break through barriers that limit creative expression, a strong sense of action, be different, be more aware of your friend group, make new ones, predict the future, find mysteries and solve them

Pisces season: may feel alienated, commit to your life to a dream, fantasy, idea, or illusion, don’t be afraid to daydream, embrace chaos

Mercury Signs

MERCURY IN ARIES:

Mercury in Aries is quick thinking. They don’t have a lot of patience for studying every angle to every problem… they would rather make a decision and let you know. Candid and direct, they get to the point. While they may appear crude or aggressive at times, it is usually because they are trying to overcome opposition to their ideas. Like a child, it doesn’t occur to them that someone may disagree with them, and so they may act out of frustration. Mercury in Aries is very attached to their ideas.

They tend to streamline their learning so they don’t get too bogged down in details. They take what they want and dismiss anything they feel may be irrelevant. Mercury in Aries has a certain innocent charm. They love to begin new things, and they are very enthusiastic. Any negative criticism will be taken personally, even if it was not meant that way. They are not afraid to stand up to a challenge. While idealistic, they are very intelligent.

Aries Mercury may quickly jump from old ideas to new if they seem more exciting. They are excellent promoters. They know how to motivate people and make things sound fun. They enjoy competing with others, and may argue a point just for fun.

They are mentally agile and can think well on their feet. Obstacles in their path are terribly frustrating for them. This may bleed over to other areas in their life as well as communication. Aries Mercury is known for their impatience.

Concentration may be difficult for long periods of time. It is easy for them to jump to conclusions, and they tend to be impulsive. Witty and inventive, they are great conversationalists as long as they don’t need to delve deeply into a subject. As charming as they may be, they can also be brutally honest.

They will do anything to win an argument, even with those they love. Aries Mercury can become a terrible know-it-all if this is not controlled. On the other hand, they can let their confidence inspire others with excitement. They tend to be original, and stand out in their areas of expertise. They are challenged to learn to love details and stick through projects no matter how tedious.

Opinionated almost to a fault, Mercury in Aries is quick to share theirs even when it isn’t wanted. They are not blessed with a lot of tact. They are restless, and seem full of nervous energy. They need to be kept busy, and often don’t seem to have any to spare. They like to do things their own way; they don’t like to be told what to do. Aries Mercury can be a great leader, and even when not in such a position, they may have a handful of followers. Their excitement and enthusiasm is infectious.

MERCURY IN TAURUS:

Mercury in Taurus takes their time when making a decision. They do eventually get there, and will be stubborn once their mind is made up. While some may think that Taurus Mercury is lazy, upon closer inspection, you’ll find that they really do think things over very carefully.

While it may take some doing to get a Mercury in Taurus to start something new, once they begin they see it through to the end. They are full of common sense. They process information through the use of their senses. When they communicate, they may be a bit slow to get to the point. They are very deliberate in everything they do.

People tend to listen to Taurus Mercury. They are taken seriously. They are funny and a bit sarcastic. They do not use flowery speech; instead they come across as authoritative and realistic.

Mercury in Taurus likes to learn through demonstrations, basic concepts and concrete answers. They like practical applications for what they learn. They can learn in the abstract, but the lessons are much more powerful if they can use the information personally.

They are very sensual, and have well-defined tastes. Everything they can experience through the senses: color, scent, touch… all affect their communication style. They are shrewd in business and excel at finances.

Mercury in Taurus can come across as obstinate and opinionated. They have an incredible memory. Whatever they set their efforts to needs to produce tangible results. They truly believe that slow and steady wins the race. Unlike most Mercury signs, they are not restless… they are grounded and steady. This keeps them rooted in reality.

Taurus Mercury usually has a pleasant voice and the discipline to get through rigorous training periods as they learn their craft. They may be talented in the arts. They seek to make things that last and reflect their own deep values. They want to show something for their efforts.

Taurus Mercury may appear set in their ways, and may need to get out of their rut on occasion. They can appear pigheaded and difficult. They need to learn how to adapt. They don’t like being forced into a quick decision.

They like to build new things. It creates something substantial that they can measure and see as the result of their efforts. Mercury in Taurus can make a good living as a speaker. Their voices are melodious and their topics are thoroughly covered. Their ideas are practical and work well. Those who take their advice are seldom sorry.

MERCURY IN GEMINI:

Quick-witted and eclectic, Mercury in Gemini may appear a bit scattered. They have a broad knowledge of many subjects… but not too much about any one subject. They learn fast, but because they have so many different interests it is difficult for them to concentrate on a single subject. They also get bored easily. Give Gemini Mercury a stimulating environment and they will be happy.

Speaking of their environment, Mercury in Gemini is very sensitive to what is going on around them. They are very impressionable. They tend to be restless and full of nervous energy. While they tend to be open-minded, logical answers appeal to them. Most of the time intuition is not part of their process. They may come across as too intellectual. Spock was probably a Gemini Mercury. They may appear to be emotionally detached when communicating.

At the same time, Mercury in Gemini can also make an interesting speaker. They are not attached to their own opinions or ideas like Aries Mercury. They adapt well, and are curious about everything. It isn’t too difficult to persuade them to change their minds. They can be talented at smooth talking, and may actually be a little deceptive, with a sense of humor. They like to spot weaknesses around them and play with them a bit just because they can.

Mercury in Gemini makes decisions quickly, and they usually turn out well. They enjoy working with language and are good on the phone. It is easy for them to communicate with anyone from all walks of life with ease. Eloquent and engaging, it is hard to be bored with a Gemini Mercury around!

It is difficult for them to shut out external stimulation, however, which can wear on them. They can get overwhelmed and frazzled. They may show signs of irritability or mental confusion. Taking some down time will help them overcome this problem.

Gemini Mercury is a natural witty flirt. Their clever chatting often keeps their partners enthralled. They love to take part in cultural events and enjoy new situations. Their minds are always spinning. They blossom in a stimulating, fast paced environment.

When bored, Gemini Mercury may stir up some trouble or controversy just to make things interesting. They like to play mind games, and are delighted when they find someone who can mentally spar back. They may tend to gossip. A natural at social gatherings, they flit from group to group like a butterfly. They are usually attractive and full of good humor. Mercury in Gemini likes to travel, read, talk and meet new people. They are the original jack of all trades, master of none model. Writing helps them focus better, and many may become journalists or freelance writers.

MERCURY IN CANCER:

Mercury in Cancer is sensitive and withdrawn. They are very thoughtful of others. They are shy and may choose not to talk at all. They may respond slowly, giving the impression of being a deep thinker, which they very well may be. They like to meditate on a problem, and reflect on their experiences.

They are great listeners, and can actually make decisions faster than it appears. Cancer Mercury has a terrific memory, too… especially if it is emotional in nature. They come across as gentle, intuitive, sentimental people. They take things very personally, which can make them appear defensive. At the same time, they can also make you feel protected and warm. They can appear to be hiding something even when they are not, which can cause Cancer Mercury some trouble.

Mercury in Cancer learns best when they feel balanced emotionally. They can remember a lot of information, though they prefer to focus on a subject and approach their problems step by step. They are empathic and can pick up the feelings of others. They are good at putting themselves in the other person’s place.

Cancer Mercury does not like to argue. They will go out of their way to avoid it if possible. At the same time, they are good at starting an argument. They do this very subtly, and then feel hurt when others argue back.

They are attracted to poetry and the romance of yesteryear. Don’t be upset if they withdraw for a time when making a decision… it helps them figure out their own opinions on the matter rather than being influenced by others. The dislike distractions and need to focus on matters at hand. They make very good speakers and writers. Mercury in Cancer has a talent for feeling out the audience.

Cancer Mercury is very intuitive. It is not easy for them to be objective. They learn best through experience and are very receptive to subliminal messages. They have a deep appreciation of the past and historical artifacts. They would probably enjoy working in a museum. Mercury in Cancer is loyal and very patriotic.

They are creatures of habit, and a lack of routine is upsetting to them. Mercury in Cancer is very considerate of others, which engenders sympathy and support when they need it. They are very good at giving motherly advice. When they are upset, they tend to sulk. They cannot focus enough at this time to react with practical reasoning. They can be moody and defensive when criticized. Cancer Mercury is talented at reading between the lines, so they are not easily fooled.

They are often called upon to speak at family gatherings because they are in touch with life’s deeper meanings. Mercury in Cancer also knows how to draw someone out of their shell when they feel awkward or troubled.

MERCURY IN LEO:

Mercury in Leo speaks with style and authority. Some may come across as know-it-alls, but they really just want to share their knowledge with everyone else. They have a talent for seeing the big picture; but may miss the details. They are very persuasive, using warmth and goodwill. They know how to promote their ideas and get their message to the masses.

They hold their opinions very dear and take pride in their beliefs. They tend to be idealistic. Mercury in Leo has a good intellect, and they love to express themselves. In fact, creativity is very important to them. They excel in presenting themselves with drama and style. Passionate and enthusiastic when speaking, Mercury Leo is usually successful in getting their point across.

They may be oversensitive to anything they consider less than praise. They can appear rather arrogant due to their natural detachment. Mercury in Leo has their ego tied to their intellect, which sometimes makes it difficult for them to separate fact from fiction. They may be considered boastful.

Mercury in Leo is wonderful at story telling because their sense of drama is so well developed. Performing or public speaking are both good outlets for their creativity. They have a strong will power and stick to their purpose.

They make natural leaders and people are inclined to follow them because of their charisma. Leo Mercury can be stubborn, especially when crossed. They follow their passions, acting spontaneously in the moment.

In social situations, Leo Mercury’s warmth is contagious and they make friends easily. When they get interested in someone and their potential, they turn their attention to developing that potential. If their heart is not in a project, it shows. They are quick witted and take intuitive leaps when thinking on their feet. They may take disagreements personally since everything they do is attached to their ego. They seek recognition for their ideas, so it is difficult for them to participate in brainstorming or other group activities.

If there is a chance to be in the spotlight, Leo Mercury is your person. They are happy to soak up the glory. They are never boring, and always “onstage.” They may exaggerate at times, but they are very convincing and entertaining. They make excellent teachers, enthralling their students no matter what their age. Besides performing, they also do well in politics, coaching or other leadership roles. They do not enjoy a job where they have no voice in making decisions or any creative input.

Mercury in Leo needs to watch out for false pride, intolerance, being full of themselves and needed praise for everything they do. While their need for admiration is evident, they do deserve it a good portion of the time.

MERCURY IN VIRGO:

Mercury in Virgo can be a bit high strung when things seem out of control, but they are very good at taking care of practical things. They appreciate it when others give them credit for their intelligence. They are good at organizing, planning and taking care of business. They do best when they know exactly what is expected and are usually willing to lend a hand.

Since they are detail oriented, their friends and coworkers appreciate them. Mercury in Virgo needs a structured learning environment and organized methods of study. They can learn a lot about their chosen profession, but may have difficulties absorbing all of the knowledge on a deep level. They don’t see the point in learning something unless it has a practical use. They are resourceful. Mercury in Virgo is very protective about how they handle their every day affairs. They may get impatient with other people, have trouble telling people no, and complain that they get to do all the grunt work.

Mercury in Virgo is logical, and may be critical of others. They have good common sense. They may appear to lack confidence in themselves, which may or may not be true. It is not uncommon for Virgo Mercury to hesitate before acting… not because they are afraid or unsure, but because they are double checking everything in their mind one last time.

They may be thought of as picky, but in actuality they are concerned with accuracy and precision. They are gifted with language and math, but may be shy or withdrawn. They are analytic and exercise good judgment. Virgo Mercury is usually content to stay in the background and orchestrate things.

They are so detail oriented that they may lose sight of the big picture. Despite this, they are good to have on hand during a crisis because they stay calm. They won’t lose their head to emotional displays. They are completely self-contained. Virgo Mercury has integrity. They may lose interest in projects that don’t seem to have a purpose. Creatively, they stick to practical things. Others find they can relate well to what Virgo Mercury creates.

They have a dry sense of humor, and notice things that other people miss. They are not easily distracted from their task. Mercury in Virgo comes across as sincere and virtuous. Others trust your opinion. They enjoy puzzles and word games that keep them challenged. Reading is often a pursuit they enjoy.

Mercury in Virgo is adaptable, systematic, stable, flexible and exacting. Conversely, they can also be pessimistic, intolerant, sarcastic, critical or whiny.

MERCURY IN LIBRA:

Mercury in Libra is pleasing. They are natural diplomats, or at least make the effort. They wish everyone were equal in the intellectual circles. It is very important for them to have a mental connection to those they have relationships with. Chances are, if they feel there is no connection, it is because Mercury in Libra is trying too hard to be intellectual in their relationships instead of paying attention. They have a need for fairness, but their constant comparisons can appear to be unfair instead.

While they strive for perfection and can’t help criticizing, they try to be tactful. They are always looking for compromise, so everyone is happy. Opinions from either end of the spectrum can make them uncomfortable, but if they favor the middle ground, Libra Mercury is happy. This creates a great personality for a counselor or mediator. It may also cause them to be indecisive. They can’t help but see both sides to everything. This may cause them to lose out on opportunities sometimes because they take too long.

Mercury in Libra can be objective because they are able to think in the abstract. They are intelligent, but it is subtle. They don’t push it on anyone. They don’t like to play the bad guy, and will drive themselves mad trying to make everyone happy.

Mercury in Libra is good at networking with people, but due to a trend towards mental laziness, they may not always follow up on those connections or maintain them. They often turn to others for opinions when they need to make a decision. They may have a fondness for playing devil’s advocate. They are usually rational and well balanced. They don’t like arguments and prefer to have a quiet discussion.

Libra Mercury is friendly and broad minded, but they can stick to their principles when need be. They don’t like conflict or when people act in a crude manner. Quickly changing situations can be difficult for Mercury in Libra because they don’t adapt very fast. They prefer to study an issue and slowly come to a decision.

Mercury in Libra likes the arts and they enjoy literature. Culture is important to them. If they are not expressive in the arts themselves, they enjoy supporting others. They may not like seeing the darker side of life, and may appear to be rather shallow.

Libra Mercury is fun at parties. They are easy going, warm and charming. They may have talents as a speaker or performer of some kind. They need to learn that it is okay to disagree. Once that lesson has been understood, life becomes much easier for them. Writing comes naturally to them, and they are good at merging ideas. Overall, they work well with almost anyone.

MERCURY IN SCORPIO:

Mercury in Scorpio likes to get to the heart of things… and they are very good at it. They are talented at seeing the truth and they are fearless about going where others fear to tread. A human surveillance camera, Scorpio Mercury can see through almost subterfuge. They hate superficiality. They may come across as suspicious and negative.

Mercury in Scorpio is passionate, and this comes through when they communicate. They usually want to help others, and may even share some of the insights they have… as long as they are about other people, not themselves. Their observation skills are beyond the pale, and more often than not have seen something others have missed.

Mercury in Scorpio is all about strategy. They are smart and work by instinct. While they may think they are helping in a constructive manner, their criticism may come across as negative instead. Don’t try to win an argument with Scorpio Mercury… it is very hard to do. They have a need to win, intellectually and literally.

They are loyal to the bone, and will defend anyone they care about to their last breath. They are also good motivators. They are good at keeping secrets, especially their own. They are also good at digging out the secrets of others. They make excellent detectives, investigators or researchers. They love mystery and intrigue. Science is intriguing to them. Anything that challenges their brain will keep them occupied. Mercury in Scorpio likes to figure out what makes people tick.

They are not very tactful, and will often say what they are thinking. They can have a very sharp tongue. Stubborn and tenacious, Scorpio Mercury will hang onto a subject until they are satisfied. They have a very emotional approach that may prejudice them. This makes it difficult for them to be objective.

If they have no interest in a subject, they will do all they can to avoid it. This can be difficult in school and other times when some subjects must be addressed.

Mercury in Scorpio has a keen understanding of human nature. What may seem obvious to them may make others puzzled. This sign brings out an intensity that others can’t help but notice. It is not uncommon for people to either love Scorpio Mercury or hate them. Psychic talents may appear with this sign. They are often interested in mystical and paranormal subjects. They may be drawn to the arts, showing the darker side of human nature through their work. Mercury in Pisces is a great listener and makes a great conversationalist. They can be moody and this can extend into their writing as well. Your Moon & Expression of Art

☾ I’ve always connected one’s moon sign with their creative preferences because emotions in art are ever-present. I am in no way suggesting that your moon is the only aspect in your chart that you should look to in order to understand your creative drive, although I definitely think that it is important regardless. ☽

Aries Moon: Starts many projects, has trouble actually finishing them. This is because new ideas are always coming to them and they are afraid to lose that initial inspiration. Likely to use bold color palettes; wants their work to make a big statement. They are not afraid to take risks and try things that may not work out. They may use art in order to cope with their often intense emotional patterns. If you really pay attention, you can see these feelings come to life in their art.

Taurus Moon: They find comfort in knowing that their passion for art is always something that they can go back to; it is stable. Likely to stick to neutral, soft color palettes. They don’t want to overpower their works with bold patterns and shades. They prefer to portray their message with subtlety. They tend to spin situations around in their works in order to make them more beautiful/appealing to the viewer. They are able to take negative experiences in their life and make them into something tangible.

Gemini Moon: Mercurial moons tend to have a diverse portfolio. One may call it “organized chaos.” Like the Aries moon, they tend to be on the more daring side. They are usually self-taught and have little regard for traditional techniques in whatever medium they practice. They can take inspiration from anywhere and their work can be difficult to decipher without a proper explanation from the artist; this is because they can take multiple ideas and memories and apply them to their designs without even realizing it.

Cancer Moon: Applying emotions to their art is the top priority. If they are not able to channel specific feelings while they are painting, drawing, etc, then it is almost impossible for them to get fully immersed in their work; they often enjoy playing music while they are working in order to help this process along. Their projects have a strong nostalgic quality to them. They are able to draw people in to their world without explaining anything in words.

Leo Moon: The messages in their art are very specific to their own lives, but they love to share it with everyone. Even if not many people can relate to their work, they tend to admire it regardless. In general, fire moons tend to gravitate towards warm colors and Leo is no different in this case. They enjoy and seek out praise for their projects, so they may enter in competitions and participate in showcases in order to establish a name for themselves in the community.

Virgo Moon: They usually have a set place and time that they like to do their work. However, their workspace is most definitely evident of a busy artist. They tend to put pictures, posters, articles, etc. on the walls in order to get inspiration. The messages in their art tend to be quite complex because they love to make people think about what they were trying to say. Most of them actually prefer to sketch here and there rather than commit to a large project.

Libra Moon: Instead of trying to make others guess what they were trying to say with their work, the Libra moon would rather be purposely relational. In fact, they want people to connect with their pieces and understand what the intent was behind the project. If people are left puzzled about the point of their finished work, they become discouraged. They might be hesitant about their ideas, causing them to start many works and toss them soon after. They tend to gravitate towards art styles that are pleasing to the eye and symmetrical.

Scorpio Moon: They tend to focus on topics that are swept under the rug in their works. The dark side of humanity is brought out in their projects. They love to shine a light on these controversial situations, especially because they are some of the only people brave enough to tackle such things. They prefer to work alone. If they are around others, they feel pressured and they may see a huge difference in the quality of their work. They cannot channel the intensity with people breathing down their necks. The public usually has a strong reaction to their work, either good or bad.

Sagittarius Moon: They find that being under the influence actually helps them a lot when trying to channel their creative energy. They don’t rely on any substances per se, but they are not afraid to experiment in order to get in to a certain mindset. The original intent may not match up with the final outcome of a Sagittarius moon’s work; this can frustrate them at times. However, it can also be a blessing that things don’t always work they way that they wanted them to. The Jupiter energy works in their favor regardless and by some mechanism of luck, the public usually loves their work.

Capricorn Moon: Usually, they tend to stick to classic and traditional styles of art. They are the most likely to take art seriously and want to pursue a career in the field. They are not only interested in pursuing art themselves, they are also deeply involved in art history. Capricorn moon’s usually have a comfort zone when it comes to what they are willing to try. Their medium of choice is usually oil painting because of it’s elegant and smooth texture. Nature and landscapes are what they are attracted to, even if it is not what they enjoy painting/drawing.

Aquarius Moon: It is important for them to channel other’s emotions and struggles in their art, rather than their own. To them, art is more about bringing awareness to injustices than anything else. Their style can be described as unique and unpredictable. You cannot possibly pin them down. They are drawn to psychedelic styles and neon color palettes. They want to make others feel as if they have traveled to another dimension when they view the Aquarius moon’s work. They turn the unexplainable into something that can actually be percieved.

Pisces Moon: They don’t see themselves as having any creative talent; however, this could not be further from the truth. Their work often reflects their inner confusion; they love styles that involve watercolor and a lot of blending. They connect deeply to the eyes, so that tends to be the easiest for them to draw/paint. Like the Cancer moon, they rely heavily on music in their performances. Their projects may revolve around spirituality, religion, drugs, and other mysteries of the universe. Their style of art is similar to the Scorpio moon, while romanticizing the taboos of life.

RP is a Partnership

Note to my RP partners:

Please do not be afraid of moving the story along. What I mean by that is it’s OK for you to get an idea from what I’ve written and take the plot into a new direction or to enhance the old. If you’re nervous, or afraid, that you’ll upset me, you can always send me a message to check if it’s OK to do the thing.

I play with you, because I want to, and I trust your creative instincts. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be doing threads with you, plotting with you in asks and on Skype. If we’re playing, I want us to be equals, and I don’t want you to take a backseat to me.

I need you to share the story with me. Think about it like Pacific Rim.

RP is a partnership. If you don’t work with your partner, you can’t move the big damn robot. You can’t save the world from the giant monsters, and you cannot tell a story. If only one half of the partnership is moving, the robot will walk in circles, get tired and break down. You’ll lose the partnership, and the story will die.

Don’t let this happen. Be a partner. Tell the story together.
