they actually have talent

Also, side note, purely for the sake of transparency, take my review with a grain of salt because while I genuinely believe the show is actually that good, the added voice talents of Keith David have made Goliath crazy hot and I am too ace to know how to handle this.

OTP Prompts

  • A is at an art museum, douchily explaining the ‘hidden meaning’ of a painting to an increasingly growing crowd. B clears their throat after a particularly personal insight into the artist’s life and says, “sorry, but not really?? At all??” (Bonus points if A is drunk and has no idea what they’re doing)
  • A owns a flower shop and one day B just kinda stumbles in, looking for the coffee shop that used to be there like three years ago. B buys a flower anyway, and comes back the next day and the next. A learns that B is a rather reclusive writer in between visits, and that he’s been stuck in a particularly nasty slump of writer’s block. Two weeks later, B bursts into the shop with the sudden realization that A is the one who’s been getting rid of his writer’s block, not the flowers.
  • A is a California kid looking to run away to NYC, B is a NYC kid looking to run away to California. They meet in a crappy diner somewhere in the middle, and they find home from there.

Lil snippets of dialogue to help you get started!!!

  • “Oh, so now it’s my fault?” “It was always your fault!!”
  • “I wanna be one of those old couples on the train that make other people want to be one of those old couples on the train!” “I’m more of a subway kind of guy, if I’m gonna be honest.”
  • “So what, you’re just going to stay here and sit on your ass?” “Is there any other way to sit?”

  • A is going through the grass looking for ladybugs with a lil magnifying glass and bug habitat and everything, and B accidentally tramples one and A just looks so heartbroken that B stays and helps him find roly polys for the rest of the day and listens to A rattle off bug facts.
  • “I thought my 64 pack of crayons was going to win over the whole class but you have a 96 pack and are we going to have to fight?? Oh my god no you’re crying I’m so sorry I moved for the third time and I just wanted to fit in”
  • A gets in trouble because they were supposed to make valentines for the whole class and they only made one for B “because it was more special that way”

I hate every post that’s like “there’s no such thing as talent it’s actually just that some people have practiced more than others” like no shut up, certain skills come more easily to some people and practice yields more and better results for them, there’s people who’ve been practicing art for years and still can’t seem to advance past stick figures and there’s people who’ve never needed to practice because they’ve always just been able to draw well. There are people for whom an hour of practice makes them 10x better and there’s people who don’t seem to get better no matter how much they practice. Like, the “talent is bullshit actually it’s just practice” crowd are definitely all people who are fortunate enough to easily yield consistent positive results from practice in their field, also known as “natural talent.”

give me an au where lance and shiro are in a band and they meet keith who plays violin and they try to get him to join the band cause hes s o good and keith goes “a violin isnt a band instrument, its for orchestra. i cant be in a band”

and lance looks him dead in the eye and says “not with that attitude

NDRV3 will be a good game

The only reason why you all think it’s bad is because of how everything was set up to lie to the players.

  • The character we believed to be the protagonist isn’t the protagonist but is actually the first killer.
  • The character we believed to either be a completely important character to the protagonist or the mastermind is the first victim.
  • The character we believed to have a talent and a possible mastermind doesn’t have a talent and is the actual protagonist. Also expected to be a trap but is not a trap.
  • The character we didnt expect to be a trap is a trap.
  • The two characters we thought would definitely be dead no matter what didn’t die, and one of them is the mastermind.
  • One character lied about their talent.

Unfortunately, we were just asking to be tricked with how obvious everything seemed. NDRV3 tricked all of us. .

How well I think the v3 characters were handled
  • Kaede: wasted. just, her main purpose was to be framed and die. no. her execution however was the best I've seen
  • Amami: same as Kaede, except we never even got to see him in trial which kinda sucks because he'd be extremely helpful given his insight.
  • Iruma: never really expected much from her, but she was a fun character with pretty standard motive
  • Ouma: they just HAD to make him a Komaeda.
  • Kiibo: good god someone save this cinnamon roll please
  • Tsumugi: too obvious a mastermind. Her motives were pretty crap and her execution was too boring. loved her junko cosplay though
  • Saihara: another twink protagonist without any actual talent, yaaay. It would have been nice if he turned out to be evil but it seems kodaka thought no.
  • Gonta: wish he had more time ingame to not just be an ouma slave
  • Maki: another killer, yay. Have to admit her screentime was used well though
  • Ryouma: I like how he's conflicted over his lack of will to live but he shouldn't have died so early on
  • Kirumi: a good woman. nuff said. However, chapter 2 had too many death flags.
  • Shinguuji: the personality twist was rather unexpected, but it made him into some sort of creep nobody missed in the end. except me. Shinguuji is best woman.
  • Tenko: I'm glad they made her more than a boy hater. Seriously Tenko is too good and pure
  • Angie: a murderer angie would have been nice. Her personality didn't change much throughout the game and even towards her death.
  • Himiko: too pure. Character development pretty cool. Also probably the only "short loli girl" to survive a killing game
  • Kaito: good grief where do I start, Kaito Momota is perfect and his character development was off the charts, that twist was brilliant, he died for my s i ns

I've been reading your metas and I want to say that they're really well thought and impressively intensive! Got a question that I'm not sure if you've answered however: if Ouma was meant to be a "pawn of the mastermind" and had despair imbued into his talent, do you think his amazing intellect might have come from actually having the SHSL Analyst talent along with his Leader talent?

I think it’s a distinct possibility! Ouma’s despair role is interesting, because clearly it’s something he himself wasn’t the most aware of. Or rather, while he suspected himself of having been the intended figurehead for the real mastermind, and he knew he clearly had things about himself that were fitting for an “evil Supreme Leader,” etc., he didn’t know about hope vs. despair terminology, because those things weren’t something that Tsumugi actually busted out as her trump card until Chapter 5.

So while Ouma definitely seems to have been someone Tsumugi wanted to manipulate and use as a pawn the entire way through, I don’t think he actually was supposed to know or think of himself as SHSL Despair until the very end. Had everything gone according to Tsumugi’s plans (meaning if Ouma hadn’t been nearly as big of a pain in her ass as he was), she probably planned to corner Ouma with a remember light specifically designed and entailed for him, to make him “remember” about how he was “the successor of Junko Enoshima” and encourage him to go full Remants of Despair Leader, claim credit for everything, and ultimately be “defeated and talked down by students of Hope’s Peak Academy,” only to kill himself in a fit of despair just like Junko did.

Why “Kaede isn’t the protagonist” is BS.

Guys, while you can make a bunch of crappy reasons to say Kaede will die, there’s lots of stuff that shows that they aren’t lying about her being the main character.

1. Her official character art shows in a position that’s common among DR protagonists: She’s not doing something related to her talent.

I mean, you could argue that this is the case with Kyoko, Nagito, Rantarou, and Maki, and the fact that Kaede is the first protagonist to actually have a talent, but Kyoko and Rantarou are the “my talent is unknown for most the game” character, I guess Maki wouldn’t look as serious if she were surrounded by kids, and what could they possibly do for Nagito and Makoto? Give them four leaf clovers? That, and the three poses above look similar in a “kind of sort of” way.

2. Her personality. Sayaka Kanda, the voice of Kaede, has stated that she has the personality of a typical protagonist, and it shows. The way she talks about believing in everyone and how they’ll never give up, and how she wants to be friends when this is all over, reminds me of Makoto and Chiaki. So, her personality clearly fits the bill to be the main character.

3. Speaking of Sayaka Kanda, she’s also really important. She sung the Future Arc opening, and played Junko in the stage play. So why would they take this person who has contributed to the franchise in more than one way, and have her play a character, who’s sole purpose is “decoy protagonist” and kill said character off in the first five minutes? Ryota’s VA played Makoto in the stage play, and look how important he ended up being.

4. “Pink means lies, and red means truth, so Maki MUST be the TRUE protagonist! GENIUS!” …No, just no. If you’re saying this because truth bullets have been red in previous games, and lie bullets appear to be pink, I have news for you. It’s been shown a few times that truth bullets will be blue in this game, so wouldn’t blue be the “color of truth” then? So by that logic, Tsumugi or Tenko is actually the “true protagonist.” See how dumb that is? Also, Ouma has made it clear he’s a big liar, and there’s no pink on him at all. Just purple, black, and white. You could argue that purple is a close cousin to pink, but the shade of purple on Ouma is too dark to even resemble pink.

5. The limited edition box art. Yes, Kiibo appears on it, and not Kaede. But, tell me this. Would it look just as badass if it were Kaede? No? Exactly.

6. “She didn’t appear on the very first promo art!” True, but we’ve also been getting hints at her since the beginning. The biggest one being in the class trial where everyone was represented by either Shirokuma or Kurokuma, except one character. Who? The protagonist, who was represented by Monomi, who is pink, like Kaede’s clothes.

7. Not as important as all the other crap, but this one is interesting. There is official food (you read that right) themed around Kaede and Rantarou. Does Chihiro have food themed around him? No. Does Peko have food themed around her? No. Why? Because they aren’t main characters.

So, there, now stop complaining about the fact that your robot husbando\nursery waifu doesn’t have protagonist plot armor.
