Meet the hard-working folks behind our magazine! Today, we asked our production manager, Samantha Rollins, four questions.
1. What do you do at The Week?
I’m TheWeek.com’s production manager, so I do a bunch of different things, from controlling TheWeek.com’s homepage to editing stories. When I’m not pushing a lot of buttons behind the scenes, I talk to bands or write about booze. Every day is different!
2. What’s the weirdest thing on your desk right now?
I’ve got a Lil Bub temporary tattoo tacked to my cube wall, in case of cat-related emergencies.
3. What have you been reading?
Tons of things: This heartbreaking VICE piece on the “ghost rapes” of Bolivia. This funny and thoughtful Hairpin post on a Sugar Ray concert and feminism. I also recently got my “new journalism” on with Tom Wolfe’s The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, which I finished recently.
4. What’s something good I should listen to?
I can’t choose just one thing! Holy Ghost’s new single, “Okay,” is a fun bout of nu-disco. Chelsea Wolfe’s new song, “The Waves Have Come” is dark and epically transcendent. There’s also “Between Villians,” an ominous Captain Murphy track featuring rap powerhouses DOOM and Earl Sweatshirt.
