these two actually have a story

OK KO! Episodes 6-10

I’ve wanted to keep writing about each episode, but they have been coming out so fast! Here is some background on 6-10.

You’re Level 100
This one comes from a Dave Tennant pitch, suggesting we spend some time on showing how Pow Cards work in this world. As I’ve said, we internally consider episodes 1-6 as a mini-arc about KO’s first week. Knowing that You’re Level 100 would end of this arc, we tried to treat it as a culmination of everything so far. We didn’t know how many episodes we’d get to do at this point, so we wanted to make sure that these six would be satisfying on their own, and You’re Level 100 is their pseudo-finale. This is most clear in the third act, where we see all the characters we’ve met so far forming into a giant fist to help KO feel like a true hero for a moment. The image is a humorously direct metaphor for some important underlying themes of the show as a whole. Stevie and Danny did an amazing job, keeping things hilarious as KO’s ego takes over and incredibly warm and fun throughout. Also we meet DYNAMITE WATKINS!

Sibling Rivalry
The relationship between Darrell and Shannon is something the original mobile game established really well, and we decided that the first episode to air after our initial “mini-arc” should focus on them. Ian had the great idea of introducing the sporty/romantic Raymond (also first shown in the game) as a shared enemy for all the characters.

This episode has some of the funniest sequences yet, in my opinion. I love the way Haewon depicts the familial relationship between Boxman and the bots, something she did previously in a 2 minute short that will hopefully release someday soon. Dave’s ending scene with the zen faces is already immortal. We obsessed over it at every stage, milking its unexplainable hilarity for all it was worth. An early favorite of mine for its wall-to-wall insane comedy.

I Am Dendy
We faced a big challenge in I Am Dendy, giving a whole episode to a character who was completely new to us at the time. We spent a crazy amount of hours discussing her character and how she could fit into the show’s existing dynamics, going through three completely different story premises before finally landing on this one. As you can see, it started to work when we decided to make it as simple as possible.

When we saw the first pitch from Geneva & Mira, we knew we had something very unique. After the high-octane first set of episodes, we get a surprisingly down to earth story about two kids spending time together. Geneva & Mira did a great job crystalizing Dendy’s personality. In a lot of ways, Dendy and KO could not be more different. KO follows a strict heroic moral code, and Dendy does not. Their fascination and understanding of their differences brings them together for a friendship we will see much more throughout the series.

Special regards to Jake and Mint Potion for the jaw-dropping music in this episode! Dendy’s theme is probably in my top 3 songs so far.

Do You Have Any More in the Back?
The title of Do You Have Any More in the Back? actually derives from an ancient (2013?) premise that Ian wrote in his original bible for the pilot-era version of the show. The two stories have nothing in common, but it is a fun detail. This new one came from right when full time development started in 2015, which was basically a summer of me and Ian hanging out on an empty office floor and deciding what the show was going to be. A couple times a week Dave Tennant would come by to break stories with us, and I think this and an early, scrapped version of “We’ve Got Pests” were the first. The network liked the story, but asked us to sit on it for a bit because it’s a somewhat deeper, more deconstructive look at Rad’s character.

In my opinion, this is a very successful early episode that provides a pretty complete package of action, comedy, adventure, and emotion. Ryann and Parker stuffed it with countless cute, funny and exciting moments that ended up setting some important character details (and running jokes) for the future. I was extremely impressed by how they handled the emotional subtlety of the ending, which is my favorite thing about the episode.

My Dad Can Beat Up Your Dad
My Dad Can Beat Up Your Dad is another episode that has roots in Ian’s original Lakewood bible, but unlike DYHAMITB?, this one is almost entirely intact from what was originally written. This is a fairly straightforward Carol/KO story that gives us a great opportunity for extended badass action sequences! Much like with Sibling Rivalry, Dave and Haewon took something simple and infused it with tons of personality. The first time we saw both versions of Chameleon Sr, the room lost it. The action scenes (with plenty of extra love from Jeremy, Max and Anna) are some of our most ambitious so far. The final scenes are sweet, heartfelt and weird in ways I absolutely love.

I have no idea if I’ll be able to keep up with these, but luckily the board artists are writing some of their own great thoughts on the other episodes!

For Worse

This was a Request for an Anon. They wanted a Story where Bruce Cheated and the Bat Boys react. If you have request go ahead and make one! Also Let me know if you want a part two. (UPDATE: Lots of people have asked for a Part 2 so i’ll start working on it soon ^_^)

You weren’t much of a wine drinker, not much of a drinker period in all actuality. When you did drink you preferred the sweetness of a strawberry margarita that masked the taste of alcohol. However, right now, as the slightly bitter liquid pooled to the back of your throat, you couldn’t imagine a better tasting drink.

Sitting on the large black marble kitchen counter, you swung your legs with childlike glee as the world around you suddenly started to feel a little hazy. Patting at your cheek with a sweater covered hand to wipe away some tear stains you filled up your glass of Zinfandel with the other.

The bottle clinks hollowly against the counter just as Alfred rounds the corner into the kitchen. He looks at your form sitting on the counter with wide worried eyes but you can’t be bothered to give him more than a half hearted crooked smile as you knock back half of your glass.

“Are you alright ma’am?” He asks moving slowly toward you. He can clearly see the intoxicated state that you’re in and he doesn’t want to startle you.

“Peachy,” you say with an airy sigh.

“It doesn’t seem so,” he says picking up the large empty bottle of wine. “It’s not even past noon ma’am.”

“I don’t know if I care that much Alfred,” you say with a chuckle. “This is usually the only time I get to be alone.”

He looks at you worriedly, “Maybe right now you shouldn’t be alone.”

You look at him, nose scrunching up in anger and a frown pulling at your lips. “I think I should, you aren’t exactly innocent either, are you?”

Alfred doesn’t waver when meeting your gaze, save for a brief flash of guilt that runs through his eyes. “Why don’t I fix you some coffee and breakfast to help sober you up.”

“When were you going to tell me?”

“Toast is probably the best option.”

“Where you ever going to tell me?”

“I know you like eggs, so I’ll scramble some for you.”

“How many times did you watch him fuck her?” You say as you grab at his arm.

He stops his rambling at looks at you with a slight tear in his eye, “I’m sorry Mrs. Wayne.”

You look at the older man and see the pain in his eyes and think about the shame he must feel, he is the one who raised Bruce afterall.

“Were you sorry enough to ask him to stop?”

“He pushed me away.”

“Of course he did,” you say snidely letting go of the man and pushing yourself off of the counter. Your sock covered feet hit the floor with slight pat and you walk over to the sink to put your glass down. “When breakfast is done, I’ll be in the bedroom.”

“…Of course ma’am.”

Wallowing around in your bed and wiping away ever falling tears all day wasn’t something that you thought you’d be doing when you married Bruce Wayne. However, at the moment you couldn’t think of what else to do. You needed to get your emotions out and rest at the same time. Damian would be home from school soon and the rest of the boys would be home for dinner.

The familiar roar of an engine caught your attention and you felt your body tense. Anticipation and anxiety wracked your form as you waited for the familiar footsteps of your husband to enter the room.

What would you say to him? Could you even bring it up? What if what you saw only happened in a dream? He would never actually hurt you this way would he? He had promised to love and cherish only you after all. How could Batman of all people break his promise?

In your thoughts, you’d barely heard the door to your bedroom open. He doesn’t say anything when he walks through the door. You hear the rustle of clothing and assume that he is removing his suit jacket. You assumptions were proved correct when he comes to sit on the side of your shared bed and pulls the blanket from over your head. He reveales himself to be in his white shirt and black suit pants.

His blue eyes scan over your form worriedly as he rubs a large thumb on your forehead. You have to bite your tongue to prevent sharp words from spewing out of you and rejecting his sweetness.

“Are you still not feeling well?” He asked voice soft and warm.

You shake your head.

He sighs with a sad smile and runs the pad of his thumb over you cheekbone, “I’ll have Alfred make you some soup.”

You don’t respond and stare at him relatively blankly and while this bothers him he shrugs it off to whatever sickness it was that was bothering you.

He stands from the bed and moves over to the closet to change into something more comfortable. You take the opportunity to sit up and push your body up against the headboard and you watch him. As he pulls the shirt off his body you can see every scar and bruise that he’d accrued recently, even the ones on his neck that hadn’t placed there forcefully.

When he slips the grey sweatshirt on over his head your trace is broken.

“Can I say something?”

He jumps slightly at the sound of your voice and turns to look at you with curious blue orbs.

“I always thought it would be Talia y’know? Especially on account of how Damian got here, but I thought it would be her.”

“What?” He asks with furrowed dark eyebrows.

“I always thought that the thing with Selina was harmless flirting, even if she did kiss you once or twice, I never really got mad.” You can feel your throat slick and tighten with nerves but your belly is full of rage.

You can see it on his face when it registers what you were talking about and the blanching of his face causes you to get angrier for some reason. You stand up quickly from your position on the bed and instinctively he holds a hand out in attempt to calm you.

“Why would you do that to me? What have I not given you that you couldn’t think ‘I shouldn’t do this, I have a wife waiting at home’?”

“We were caught up in the moment, it wasn’t supposed to happen.” He tries to explain.

“Multiple times, you fucked her multiple times! On different days, on different weeks!”

He looks at you pathetically and you suddenly find that your positions have been reversed and he is the one sitting on the bed while you are the one standing.

“You know I thought this would happen when we were dating, and I told myself that it would be much better if it happened then because I could just leave. But now I can’t, I’m stuck here with you, in this giant stupid house.” You can feel your tears start to well up again but you quickly wipe at your eyes in an attempt to wipe them away. “Were you going to stop sleeping with her? Or were you just waiting to get caught?”

He doesn’t respond and he hangs his head down in shame.

“Look at me!,” you snap agitated and causing him to meet your gaze. “You were bold enough to go and do it no you have to take the consequences the same way you did them.”

“I wasn’t going to stop,” he said truthfully. You feel your jaw twitch at the honesty and the frown that’s pulling at your lips is almost painful. “Selina has always been important to me I suppose, and it felt natural.”

It was almost as if you could hear your heart breaking and you couldn’t stop the sob that ran its way through your throat. You slapped a hand over your mouth in shame and turned away from him as the tears freely flowed down your face. Almost instinctively at your crying from, Bruce was at your side with a large hand on your back trying to comfort you.

“Don’t. Touch. Me!” You snap slapping his hands away. “Why did you marry me? If you felt that way you should have been with her!”

“I love you,” he says desperately.

“No you don’t,” you say pushing him away from you. “If you did you wouldn’t have done this.”

“Thats-” he starts but he stops himself.

“Were you going to say ‘That’s not true’?” You ask incredulously with wide eyes. “So you were planning on cheating on me anyway.”

“No,” he shakes his head.

“God, I’ve wasted all of this time on you,” you say moving around him looking for a pair of shoes to slip on and your keys. “All of the things that I could have done, places I could  have gone, and people who would have loved me, I gave it up for you. I put my career on hold so I could help you. So that Wayne Enterprises would have someone there while you rested. So that our son could have something other than mask to raise him. But you couldn’t do one thing for me? You couldn’t say no one time for me?”

He doesn’t respond, he knows he shouldn’t respond, nothing he can say will make this situation better.

Once you’ve collected your shoes, bag, and care keys, you let out a sigh,”I had really hoped that once you came home that there would be some way that you could deny this and I would have believed you. That I’d been slipped some sort of drug and had been hallucinating the things that I saw, but I was too hopeful.” You wipe at your eyes. “The worse part about it is that you’ve trapped me, Bruce. What can I do? My life has become our kids, your company, and your mission. That has been my job since we’ve gotten married. I lived for us Bruce, why couldn’t you?”

“I didn’t mean to- I didn’t mean for this to happen,” he pleads. “She was just-”

This isn’t about her, Bruce.” You shake your head and make your way to the bedroom door. “I’m going to stay at the penthouse. Don’t come by. Tell Damian that I’ll come get him for lunch on Saturday like I always do.”

“Are you coming back?”

You look at his sad blue orbs and shake your head, “I don’t know.”

Damian was the first to arrive home. Bruce watched from the bedroom window as he and Alfred made their way into the house. What was he supposed to tell him? Not just Damian, but everyone. That he’d driven their mother away and he didn’t know when she’d be back? That he’d ruined their family? No, never that. How could he break his children even more than they already had been.

With a frown, Bruce locked the door to the bedroom and sat in silence and darkness. If he’d gone to the cave he would have opened himself up to questions. In here, for the moment, he was safe. No one would bother him here.

“Hey Alfred, where is mom?” Dick asked, taking a drink of his water.

“Yes, I would like to know as well, Pennyworth. It’s not often that you come and pick me up from school,” Damian started pushing around some of his food with his fork.

“Mom didn’t get you from school?” Tim questioned with a furrowed brow. “That’s her thing though.”

“Hence the question,” Damian replied with smirk causing Tim to roll his eyes.

“Maybe she got tired of you being a smartass and didn’t feel like being bothered,” Jason adds in with a raised eyebrow and a smirk of his own as he rocks back on the legs of his chair.

“Unlikely, considering I’m her favorite,” the youngest said crossing his arms over his chest. “Besides, I haven’t seen her at all, not since this morning.”

“What?” The three older boys questioned alarmed.

“Alfred?” Dick questions again to the older man who hasn’t raised his head from his plate since the questioning started. “Where is mom?”

“I’m afraid, Master Grayson, that it would be best if you went to ask Master Wayne,” the butler deflects.

“Has something happened to, mom?” Tim asks seriously.

“I cannot answer that,” Alfred replies again.

In frustration Jason pushes away from the dining room table to make his way up to the master bedroom, the other boys following quickly behind him.

It only takes a minute for Jason to stomp his way to the bedroom and even less for him to begin banging on the door.

“Open the door up, old man” He starts impatiently. “We just want to know where mom is.”

There is a pause as the boys listen for movement, and when there isn’t any Jason pounds on the door again, “I’ll break the door open!”

“Jason!” Dick scolds. “Mom will be mad if you break her door.”

“Well how else am I supposed to get him to open it?”

“We could use our brains?” Tim suggests.

“No need,” Damian says pulling out his blade and shoving it in the jam of the door. He uses his weight as pressure and pops open the door.

“That still counts as messing up the door,” Dick says pointing at the ruined lock.

“It’s still intact isn’t it?”

Tim pushes open the door giving way to the light from the hallway to flood into the dark room. Tim quickly finds the light switch and the room lights up.

“Father?” Damian questions when the lights flicker on and he sees the man sitting on the edge of his bed with his head in hands.

The man doesn’t respond to his name being called and this sends the boys into a slight panic. Dick quickly walks over and places a large hand on Bruce’s shoulder and tries to shake him out of his trance.

The man looks at the boys and sadness flashes in his eyes as he realizes he has to explain how he’s taken their mother from them.

“Where is mom?” Tim asks.

Damian watches from a distance and takes in the state of the room. On the occasions that he’d have nightmares, he usually finds himself in his parents bed snuggled against his mother in the expansive bed as she protected him from the dreams. He probably knew better than anyone what their bedroom was supposed to look like.He noted that the dresser was suspiciously bare of his mother’s jewelry boxes and perfume bottles.  He casts a quick glance at Jason who seems to realize that something is off about the room.

Damian walks around the bed to his mother’s closet and opens it only find it empty. Jason stands behind his youngest brother staring at the empty room perplexed.

“This is her’s,” Damian mutters, “Where is her stuff?”

When it clicks for Jason he’s consumed with rage and he’s stomping over to Bruce again and pushing his startled brothers away. His large hand is around Bruce’s collar in an instant and he’s pulling the man up.

“What did you do? Why did she leave?” Jason questions acidly, his own blue eyes clashing violently with Bruce’s.

“Leave?” Dick questions. “How do you know she left?”

“Majority of Ummi’s things are gone. Like they were packed up.”

“She left us?” Tim questions swallowing thickly.

“I’m pretty sure she left him!” Jason hisses shaking the man who is still staring blankly at him. “What did you do?”

“What could you have done to make her leave like this?” Tim asks.

Dick examines his adoptive father keenly as he runs the scenarios through his mind. His mother adored Bruce, so why would she just leave?

Seemingly having enough of being pushed around Bruce quickly wraps his hand around Jason’s wrists and squeezed before ripping the hand off of his collar. The stretched fabric falls limply around his neck as he looks at the four of his sons angrily.

“You all need to leave,” He says sternly. “Your mother is safe.”

Dick’s gaze falls onto where the collar hangs limply at Bruce’s neck and he spots a purple bruise on his neck that causes a thought to run through his mind and it makes his hair stand on end.

“You wouldn’t,” Dick says with a shake of his head and a disbelieving smile. “You couldn’t, not to Mom, right?”

“What are talking about, Grayson?” Damian asks looking in between the two men.

Bruce meets Dick’s gaze and the younger man feels himself getting hot with anger the longer he holds his gaze.

Tim examines his father and finds the same bruise on Bruce’s neck and he puts it together. Instead of letting his anger consume him he glances back at his younger brother and grabs his arm.

“Let go of me, Drake,” Damian struggles as Tim pulls him along.

“Alfred knows where she went doesn’t he?” Tim asks glancing at the guilty man. A quick nod is all he needs as he proceeds down stairs with the young boy.

“Who was it with? Viki? Talia? Who?” Dick questions angrily.

Jason snorts in anger as he realizes what his brother is implying.

“Selina,” Bruce responds after a long pause.

Dick shakes his head in anger, “I knew you could be an asshole but not like this.”

Dick locks eyes with his brother, “We should find out where mom is and go see her in the morning. I’m sure she wants to be alone now.”

Jason nods and watches as his Dick leaves the room. He stares down the older man for a second before stomping out.

It seemed like it was always raining in Gotham, despite whatever the season was. At the moment that suited you just fine. The wide open space of the penthouse was smaller than what you were used to but still felt empty. You were happy that Bruce hadn’t tried to come and see you, you don’t think you could have been as civil as you were if he had come to see you.

So when there was a knock on the door, you felt dread fill your stomach. You quickly padded over to the door and looked out of the peephole and saw the distorted visage of four familiar figures.

“Boys!” You say with wide eyes as you swing open the door.

“Ummi!” The youngest voice calls out as he leaps at you burying his face in your stomach as his small but strong arms wrap themselves around your waist.

“Damian,” you say with a smile, running a comforting hand along his back.

“We were worried,” Dick says with a smile and a shrug as he pulls a bouquet of flowers from behind his back.

“You’re all so sweet,” you say with a smile moving to the side and letting the boys into the home.

“We didn’t want you to be alone,” Tim says, “We also wanted to make sure your weren’t in danger.”

“Oh,” you say sadly and closed the door behind them. Damian let’s go your waist and instead opts to hold your hand. “I shouldn’t have left in such a hurry, I know it can be unsafe.”

“We understand, mom” Jason says with a smile. You meet his normally stern eyes and you feel your tear ducts well up. “Hey, don’t cry! I brought food.”

We, brought food,” Dick pops in as Jason shows you a bag in is hand. “Tim set the table.”

Damian brings you over to sit you at the dining room table as Tim makes a place for the each of you.

Jason and Dick bring the food out and then sit down to join you.

“We’re sorry about Bruce,” Dick starts looking at you with a sad smile. “But we understand and we’ll be here for you.”

The boys nod their heads in agreement.

You smile at your boys, feeling slightly better than you had been in hours, “Thank you.”

Episode 6 thoughts...which are way too many...BEYOND THE WALL

I’m so glad that I decided to wait and watch the entire episode because it was so worth it. This is going to be a long post, so don’t tell me that I didn’t warn you!! SPOILERS BELOW……

Episode 6 starts with focus on the map of Westeros created by Aegon Targaryen and then we directly head to the north of Eastwatch. I didn’t understand why the map was shown to us. But I guessed that since the last thing we see on that table is eastwatch by the sea, I’m assuming they’re trying to tell us, that’s where the focus is going to be.

East watch

So Jon Snow and Co. are walking north of the wall in their quest to find them a Wight. Tormund thinks it’s a stupid idea, which it most definitely is. They don’t have a plan, they don’t know what they are dealing with exactly, they don’t know how many of them are out there. They’re relying on Jon’s Intel which is minimal at best and the hound’s Intel which is based on visions in the fire. It was a stupid plan to begin with and we know now that even the show was trying to establish that very feeling. Thank you Tormund. I love you!!

Talking about Tormund, I loved his banter with Gendry. He also seems to be saying surprisingly prophetic things. When he asks Jon about ‘this dragon queen’ Jon says that she won’t fight by their side unless he bends the knee. Again, Jon is reminded about two things. One that he is not a kneeler and second, how many people is he willing to sacrifice for his pride by giving us the Mance Rayder comparison once again. I think what the show is trying to establish (from Jon’s perspective) here is, how is the northern independence even going to matter if there is no north at all? Ten thousand men can’t defeat the NK and his army and we know this now more than anything else. Going back to season six, Jon tried to take back winterfell from Ramsey Bolton with the men he had and failed miserably. We need more men, said Sansa Stark and proved her point when she got the Knights of the Vale to charge into battle. Jon knows this, that if they have to win against the knight king they need Dani and her army and her dragons. That’s what he believes (at this point) is needed for them to win this war against the NK. Only that he may not be entirely right. But I’ll talk about that a bit later.

Now to Jon and Jorah’s conversation. It’s clear that the two men admire each other. Jon gives Long Claw back to Jorah. He doesn’t think he has a right over it while Jorah’s alive but Jorah gives him back the sword with these words.

I brought shame into my house. It broke my father’s heart. I forfeited the right to claim this sword. It’s Yours. May it serve you well. And your CHILDREN after you.”

AAAAAAAAAAAA….. PEOPLE, this scene was priceless. I hope you did hear the STARK THEME playing in the background when they focus on Jon’s expression which is again PRICELESS by the way. Yes, he may think he is a bastard and that he’s not a stark. He may even think what name he could give his children but that JON SNOW secretly does want it was the point of that scene. They could’ve stopped with May it serve you well and it would’ve been just fine. But “AND your children after you.” With Jon looking pensive, then looking at the sword with that sigh and that ridiculously heart-warming Stark music in the background and that BLOODY MUSIC continuing to the scene in Winterfell where *ehem ehem* Sansa and Arya have a little chat. When there was talk of continuity of Jon’s lineage, ‘the Stark Music’ was the one playing in the background and THIS IS IMPORTANT because of the sheer number of times it’s been hinted in this season about Jon’s Targaryen blood.

Really, what was all that worry about Arya and Sansa. Arya comments about Sansa not knowing about the fact that Ned watched when the boys practised because she was inside knitting shows what the show is trying to establish about the way Arya views her sister. Lyanna Mormont said in the first episode that she won’t knit by the fire while the men ride into battle. Arya views Sansa as someone who’d prefer to do that. I think in the end of this very season, Arya will realise why to never underestimate even those who silently knit by the fire. For knitting is a direct reference to the various political threads interwoven by skilful hands, the hands of Sansa Stark.

I loved Arya’s little story about her and Ned. It was beautiful.

“I knew what I was doing was against the rules. But he was smiling .. I knew I wasn’t wrong. The RULES were wrong.”

You can see Sansa smiling till the point she says “Now he’s dead. Killed by the lannisters with your help.”

These words change the tone of the conversation and what happens next is exactly what I expected would happen. Arya only sees in Sansa the girl from the past. She doesn’t know what Sansa has suffered at the hands of her beloved Joffrey, leave alone what Ramsey did to her. They don’t know anything about what the other has become. This is not a story where two sisters who were ‘Stark’ opposites of each other while growing up sit down and talk to each other about the their difficult road back home. I REPEAT. This is not that kind of a story. However, if you look carefully, that is exactly what’s happening too, in a very game of thrones way.

Sansa tells Arya that she was forced to write that letter by the Lannisters. She tells her that Jon actually lost the battle of the bastards and if it hadn’t been for her timely intervention with the knights of the vale, they would not have reclaimed winterfell. Arya tells Sansa that she saw her when Ned was beheaded and that she was in the crowd watching helplessly. She also tells her that she was training in Bravos. THIS IS PROGRESS, in a very game of thrones way.

Did you see the guilt on Arya’s face when Sansa asks her, if she was in the crowd why didn’t she do something about it? I think Arya does understand in that moment that Sansa was as helpless as she was but she’s read that letter and she outrages about Sansa betraying Ned and Robb.

So Arya knows that Jon will not be angry with Sansa even if she shows him the letter or she senses that that’s what Sansa feels. I think Arya got it right when she tells Sansa that she fears the letter reaching the hands of the Northern lords.

BECAUSE THAT SCENE WITH LF AND SANSA gave me all the Jonsa feels in the world. But first doubt no. 1

How in the name of seven hells did the north get 20,000 fighting men when Davos said in Episode 3 that they have fewer than 10000??????

Does this mean that SANSA has managed to amalgamate the forces to this huge number?

Okay back to the scene.

Their Loyalty is to Jon. Jon is not here. I haven’t heard from him in weeks.

Do I sense frustration from not having heard from him?

You are the Lady of Winterfell. The king chose you to rule in his absence. *EHEM EHEM* Note how LF doesn’t talk about she being Jon’s sister anymore. Sansa is actually angry with the Northern Lords about turning their backs on Jon. You can see it in her face. Her MAIN worry is that if the northen lords find out about that letter, JON will have no army left by the time he returns. (DID Anyone else go AWWWWWWW?) Sansa acknowledging that Arya would turn against her if she thought Sansa was going to betray Jon was another Sansa moment of higher understanding. Look how LF asks, Is that what she thinks? Because at this point HE KNOWS, that Sansa will not betray JON. He saw it with his own eyes when he came out of the crypts after being almost choked to death. His language has changed, his tactics has changed. He is no longer attacking the stronger bond between Jon and Sansa. He’s attacking the weaker bond between Sansa and Arya. Or so he thinks!!

I WONT SET FOOT IN KINGS LANDING TILL CERSEI LANNISTER IS QUEEN!! Foreshadowing anyone?? Confident Sansa, as lady of Winterfell just totally rocked that scene.

Again that conversation between Sansa and Arya. The one in which she discovers the bag of faces. Arya tells her she was training in bravos to be a faceless man. Again, Jon is brought into the conversation. Now Arya says something very interesting at this point.

“We both wanted to be other people when we were younger. You wanted to be a queen, to sit next to a handsome young king on the iron throne. I wanted to be a knight. To pick up a sword like father and go off to battle. Neither of us got to be the other person, did we?”

I wonder why this dialogue was inserted, apart from the obvious reason to show who they were and who they’ve become. And the question Arya asks in the end. Neither of us got to be the other person, did we? Well okay Tinfoil: But what if in a weird way, they do after all get to be that other person they’ve always wanted to be. Maybe in a way their respective journeys did prepare them to be a stronger version of who they really wanted to be. Sansa if she marries the king *cough Jon cough* and sits beside him on the iron throne will not just be a queen who wanted to marry a prince and give him beautiful babies. She will be a queen who will be the king’s equal partner in every sense of the term and also a queen people will love. If Arya now rides off to battle with a sword, she’ll be a force to reckon with. Maybe destiny will give them a chance to be that other person they’ve wanted to be, just not in the way they thought it would happen.

When Arya talks about wearing Sansa’s face, being the lady of winterfell, yes it was creepy and Sansa definitely looked scared but I wouldn’t worry about it. Because in the next episode, I’m sure Arya will know what it is to be the Lady of winterfell. Sansa will demonstrate it. Besides, I don’t think Sansa would have ever sent Brienne away, especially after LF advises her to keep her close, if she truly thought Arya would do anything to harm her. She’s more worried about Cersei, as she rightfully should. I’m sorry to disagree with many others but I loved the Sansa and Arya scenes. It showcased the complex relationship the sisters share with each other and how they’re slowly discovering each other. This journey will be complete when they take down a foe together.

Besides, ARYA gave SANSA the dagger. It has to count for something. When it appears like she’s going to use it on Sansa she flips it and hands it to her. What is in the next episode, Sansa does something similar? I think it will happen like that. We might worry and then she’ll flip right at the very end. I’m looking forward to it.

Finally, something important happened. Something that was not in the blasted leaks. When the white walker that turns the Wight dies, so do all the wights that go turned by him. This reminded me of The Vampire diaries. When an original dies, so do all the vampires that got turned because of his/her blood. And if we didn’t get this the first time when we saw it happen, a clarification is given in the form of a conversation between Jon and Jorah. Obviously it goes without saying that this is very important to the plot in terms of the battle plans and strategies that they’ll employ in future. TARGET THE WW AND THE WIGHTS WILL PERISH AUTOMATICALLY. Obviously the wights can’t swim. This is established in this episode and also answers by long standing doubt of why they didn’t follow Jon from the water at hardholme.

So…. Water, along with fire is another way to stop them??? Even the NK was not crossing the WATER!!

Tyrion’s noticed Jon staring at Dani and assumes he’s in love with her. Ummm I don’t know what she meant by ‘he’s too little for me’???? In the sense insignificant?? Or Short?? LOL  Dani’s obviously worried about Jon. Again, if you notice, she’s going all soft when Jon is mentioned. Then when Tyrion starts talking business,

Which war was won without deceit and mass murder?

Aegon Targaryen got quite a long way on fear?

Tyrion actually asks If that’s the queen you want to be how’re you different from the other tyrants that came before you? Umm.. Did they just use that word?? You can see that she’s not really listening to him.

That was not impulsive, that was necessary.

This line about the tarlys coming from her mouth with no ounce of remorse – that was necessary. Again, she accuses Tyrion of taking his family’s side and reminds him of his failures. And then comes the debate about succession, in the same episode where having children is said to Jon. This can’t be a coincidence. Dani not choosing an heir, Jorah wishing Jon and his future children luck with longclaw. It was interesting.

Well, Dani goes Dracarys in the north and the screen and I both exploded at once. I did shout “burn them all” though Dani didn’t. It was a beautiful visual extravaganza and I loved every bit of it.

You see what they’re doing here, aren’t you?

Dani wears black in every episode, except when she goes north to “SAVE” Jon and Co. Then she’s wearing a beautiful white furry dress. The black and white theme surrounding Dani’s character is not even subtle anymore. Jon looks up at her in obvious awe and gratitude when she flies above them incinerating everything in her path. We didn’t appreciate it when she burnt the lannister army, we hated it when she burnt Dickon Tarly but we were glad when she burnt the wights.

Again, You see what they’re doing here, aren’t you?

Jon and her have a moment when she’s going to help him onto Drogon but he doesn’t. Again, if you look past the romance, you’ll see that there’s a reason why they don’t want Jon to ride on a dragon yet. It was a clever way to disguise that bit with that love-struck look on both their faces for obviously most people missed that moment when Jon almost did not ride a dragon. It’s too early..

Well, I don’t like the dragons as much as I love the wolves but I did feel bad when Viserion spluttered Dragon blood all over and died. It was sad.

Okay, so now time for observations and some very important questions.

Dragon fire did nothing to the NK. When he walked the fire burnt out to make way for him. I think something similar happened at hardhome when the WW enters the burning house where Jon is searching for Dragon glass. The fire seems to diminish/get extinguished with the presence of the WW. Which can mean only one thing. While Dragon fire can kill the wights, it can do nothing much to the WW and especially not to the NK. FIRE CAN’T KILL ICE. Does this also mean one extreme cannot nullify the other??? There’s got to be another way to kill the night king. Something Bran and Sam and hopefully Gilly are going to discover. I keep repeating, Gilly is going to make some important discovery, other than Prince RAGGER.

What the bloody hell are their Spears made of?? I refuse to believe that it’s just ice!! It killed a BLOODY DRAGON for crying out loud?? Bran Stark has some good amount of figuring out to do!! Will you please grant him some screen time??

The Dragons need ARMOUR to shield themselves from these spears and I think it’s probably going to happen if they’re going to join in the fight. What will the armour be made of?? The obvious choice that come to mind is Vayrian steel. Because we know that Valyrian Steel can stop that spear that the WW’s hold. But if it’s supply is very rare, how are they going to find enough to cover not just one but two dragons??

Did anyone else feel Jon staring at the NK greedily? Did anyone else hear what Beric says? Dani and her Dragons are not the only way to defeat the dead. Kill the Bloody Night King and they’re all gone. Did this remind anyone of that scene in the MUMMY RETURNS when the Army of the dead dies when the “CHOSEN ONE” our dashing Mr. O Connel drives that spear through the scorpion king’s heart killing the entire army with the scorpion king?? Well I did, and I can’t stop thinking about it now.

For the first time, we are presented with an option that is not Dani and her dragons. Jon is convinced that she is their only hope. But Beric presents before Jon and the audience another option. Kill the NK and they all will die. Of course Jon doesn’t really think this is possible. But the dice has been rolled and the seeds have been sown in our minds.

Dani obviously is falling for Jon. She’s lost Viserion, yet she waits expectantly, hoping for Jon’s return. I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion in the Jonsa fandom but I’m going to say it anyway. I can see that Jon’s falling for Dani too. The boat scene, there was chemistry both ways. Jon looked guilty and smitten. Look at this from Jon’s perspective for a moment. Jon is convinced that Dani is their only hope. She risks her life to save them. She loses her child, her dragon in the process. Then, she vows to fight the NK without asking Jon to bend the knee. He obviously sees her as a saviour. He even sees her as selfless. She’s beautiful and he’s attracted to her. He reciprocates her gesture of fighting alongside the north in this battle against the dead by suggesting that he’d bend the knee. She’s his queen, because she’s the only queen willing to fight for his cause. I’m not saying it’s a good decision. He’s the one who doesn’t let go of her hand when she tries to pull it away. He’s not playing her guys. (Or that;’s what I think ) I am a Jonsa shipper, but I enjoyed this scene. Two people, who don’t know what they actually are to each other, are falling for each other. Dani has obviously noticed Jon’s scars. Will she ask him about it before boatsex?? Will he tell her the truth?? However, everything good about this stops right here. Because Jon says the following words.

They’ll all come to see you, for what you are.

We all will, and so will you Jon. Season 8 is going to be about that Dani, we’ll all see. It’s foreshadowing for sure and you can’t convince me otherwise.  Jon doesn’t know she’s burnt the Tarlys. He doesn’t know how she feels about it. He doesn’t know anything about her past. He doesn’t know what his people will think about her. He’s rushing into this based on his emotions and feelings. Classic case of Hero making bad choices and decisions.  Listen carefully to their supposed romantic music. It’s not a happy one. It’s melancholy and tragic.  As is their relationship. Dani who’s not even willing to name an heir, is going to find out next season that HE not SHE is the rightful heir to the iron throne.

I should’ve probably kept this for another post, but considering what happened between Jon and Dani in this episode I can’t really keep this out. I think that the way Jon and Sansa’s relationship has been portrayed is the exact opposite of the way Jon and Dani’s relationship has been portrayed.

The viewer does not expect to see anything romantic in Jon and Sansa’s relationship. Yet, the tone of their re-union was set by a love-struck look that a man (Tormund) gives a woman (Brienne). And now that we have other re-unions to compare and contrast it with, we know that Jon and Sansa’s reunion was the most dramatic, the most satisfying. From the first scene onwards, Jon and Sansa seem to be bridging the gap that was between them as children. Jon obviously has told Sansa about his murder and resurrection and Sansa has told Jon about what happened to her. Everything about them from the way they’ve always been  pictured as walking together, their matching costumes, the way they stand and sit beside each other screams, We’re a team - One with the military capabilities and the other with the political savvy. Even though Jon is chosen as King in the north, Sansa is his equal and he acknowledges this fact in season 7 by giving her the north. That they are partners in ruling the north, has always been the tone of their relationship.

Consider, how their relationship develops on screen. We get the unwanted (Or so we thought then) romantic vibes from half siblings who look more like King/Queen or Husband/Wife and we were collectively wondering what the hell was wrong with us, until the cousin reveal happens in that very season, and we were like, “Hey, chances are that there is a great possibility that this is how they’ve wanted us to view it.” They in all probability wanted to make us uncomfortable and then comfort us with the cousin reveal. Plus, Jon almost never initiated physical contact, except for the forehead kiss that seemed to last for decades. LOL!!

Contrast this with the development of Jon and Dani’s relationship. We’re almost through with season 7 and yet none of the characters on the show with the exception of Bran know that Jon is in fact a Targaryen. Which could mean only one thing that for some reason they wanted the audience to know before the characters in the show that Jon is not a Stark. Which is exactly what he says before his meeting with Dani. The audiences are allowed to hold the knowledge that Dani is his Aunt before their first interaction when infact we as an audience are being pushed to see them as a couple. Whatever they learn about each other is very superficial and even in that they have disagreements. In every romantic set up, the audience is not allowed to forget that Jon is a Targaryen and a lot of information is withheld from coming out into the open. Plus, their relationship can never be about being equals. It has a superior - subordinate tone to it. Their romantic scenes are confusing. There’s supposed to be attraction but Dadvos had to really spell it out for us for many couldn’t see it. There’s always something off about their romantic scenes. Every scene had their differences being contrasted. I mean in episode 5, Jon looked so disinterested that I almost wondered how they were going to pick it up from here. Having Jorah turn to look at Dani and not Jon, what did they achieve by that?

So I think basically it comes down to this, though we’re supposed to see Jon and Dani as a couple, we’re not supposed to get attached to this romance. Every time they get closer to each other, we are also supposed to remember that they’re related. Jon and Sansa’s relationship starts out with us thinking they’re half siblings until it is revealed to us that they’re cousins. Jon and Dani’s relationship starts with us knowing that they are Aunt and Nephew and that looms over every scene that they are in.

Even in episode six when Jon calls her Dani and she says that my brother called me that. (side note: Who else thought Jon taking Sansa’s name was sexier..”SANSUH”) Okay sorry shipper goggles off. So while the scene was heart-warming, one did feel like Jon was rushing into this without really thinking this through and that there would definitely be repercussions to his decision.

So while it was nice to see Jon and Dani have that emotional exchange, I don’t see the show trying very hard to get the viewers invested in their romance.

Thoughts for the Finale

Brienne is going to meet Jon in KL. Do you think he’ll be annoyed that she left Sansa to fend for herself??

If the Lady of Winterfell has been invited to Kings Landing, so must all the other Lords and Ladies of other houses. Isn’t now a perfect time to set up Jon as the ideal ruler/leader in front of all other Lords and Ladies if that’s where the story is actually going. Maybe make him do something that sets him apart from both Cersei and Dany and make some sense out of the “LONG WALK” trailer. If Jon, Dani and Cersei are going to be in one scene, “the people’s choice” needs to be set up even if it’s real glory is covered with the bending of the knee part/swearing allegiance part.

Jamie and Brienne are definitely going to meet. Isn’t Brienne going to update Jon on the growing restlessness of his subjects?? I hope so.

Since Sansa has not yet talked about the “LONE WOLF” lines we can now safely assume that it’s happening in the finale.

Castle Black is going to fall, I have a bad feeling. We may lose EDD

Team Stark is going to unite and it will mark the beginning of “A time for the wolves”

Thanks for reading this and don’t forget to tell me what you think!!

Sliding Down the Hill

Emma Swan’s phone rings and she makes a quick, split second decision. She keeps doing that. She makes choice after choice and change after change and, suddenly, she’s crying on ESPN. That’s probably the last thing she expects.

Or: A not-quite a Little League World Series AU.

Rating: G, with lots of sports emotions
Word Count: 10K’ish because I have no control

Also on Ao3 if that’s how you roll.

AN: This was an exercise in brevity that didn’t really work and probably should be two chapters, but here we are. The Google Doc name of this story was actually “WHY ARE YOU WRITING THIS?!?!” but this got in my head and wouldn’t leave me alone and it’s not really about the Little League World Series, but also is kind of about the Little League World Series and parents on TV.

It all happens quickly.

One day Emma Swan is barely making ends meet on a tiny apartment in SoHo, constantly worried Henry will notice and, suddenly, two weeks later she’s on the phone with an overly-enthusiastic Mary Margaret screaming about he just retired, Em. just packed up his desk and said he was going to go live by the ocean or something and, whatever, it doesn’t matter, there’s a job!

A job.

In Storybrooke.

In Maine.

Probably with David.

Working with David in a tiny, little town in Maine with the one friend Emma has managed to keep and a cast of characters that belong on some sort of Hallmark Channel mini-series and, she’s fairly positive, only one stop sign. She’s not convinced Storybrooke has a traffic light.

It does, however, have a meticulously cared for Welcome to Storybrooke sign at the town line and Emma bites her lip when she drives by it, the ancient, bright yellow bug she used one of her last paychecks to buy rumbling slightly when she and Henry barrel down Main Street.

Okay, for people who think jon/dany are fanservice and aren’t getting what is happening at all, jon and dany aren’t just two “random characters” that met and are “randomly” falling in love.

If you pay attention to the story, you’ll see their lines have several parallels. Lines they said to each other, therefore they think alike and they saw that. Which is why they are so affected by each other

They are both UNIQUE leaders (often the show alluded how it’s been centuries since there were leaders worth leading yada yada and well now we have TWO) who actually care about the people more than a freaking throne and power. Being leaders, they have met about 49856439574 people that think they are stupid and don’t think that way at all. They only needed to interact once (7x03) to see the other is different than anyone else they have ever met. Which is why they are so affected by each other.

And finally, There are like 349856458247 prophecies and shiz that have been bringing them together ever since the beginning of this show (if you have been paying attention) and said prophecies and shiz a HUGE part of their (and everyone else’s) stories. Which is why they are so affected by each other.

No offense but if you think Jon/Daenerys have fallen “out of the blue” or that the idea of them happening is fanservice you haven’t been paying attention to the show at all, or even to the title of the book it is based on.

Hi different anon but i really want to believe that d and p are together but i have been in so many fandoms and believed in so many different ships that were never actually together so now any 'evidence' against d and p being together just makes me sad and think they aren't. I have loose faith easily

I’m not saying this to be rude, so I hope it doesn’t come off like that - I understand people can’t always control emotional reactions to situations. But try to remember that beyond being two people that the internet ships, they are actual human beings. Their lives have context and meaning to each other that’s lacking in most ‘shipped’ people. Look at the situation like you would people and not a story whose plot twist you need to anticipate.

If you had a friend who had been with their partner for the last eight years and your friend casually mentioned that they’d gone on a walk with someone else, would you take that as a sign they were breaking up? A walk isn’t evidence of anything except fandom being thirsty for there to be drama and to treat their lives like a fictional narrative that has to be constantly advancing or falling apart. That’s just not how life works; sometimes people are happy together and nothing really exciting happens. The answer to that is just to enjoy them together and not to obsess over finding reasons why if it’s too happy/too boring/too settled then it’s probably not real.

i don’t care about soulmate aus. the stories set in that world are inevitably so boring. i don’t care about soulmates who work out just like they should, because that story just isn’t interesting to me, i always want more conflict in this weird, fucked up universe the stories take place in.

give me people who don’t have soulmates, operating in a world that isn’t set up for them, wondering what’s wrong with them that they weren’t given one.

give me people who find their soulmate and it doesn’t work out, either because they don’t actually like them or it fizzles out like a normal relationship might.

give me someone who’s soulmate is dead.

give me two people who are not soulmates but choose each other anyway, abandoning whatever potential bond is out there, because they don’t care, they aren’t willing to give up what they have.

the possibilities are endless, there’s so much more potential for interesting, new stories where the end goal is a little muddier than advertised. i want it to be just as messy and complicated as real life.

anonymous asked:

I'm so angry mortal apollo is saying people accused her of lesbophobia for headcanoning bi Reyna??? No??? It was lesbophobia saying OTHERS couldn't hc lesbian Reyna because it was 'bi erasure' which she no longer mentions conveniently, leaves that out of her story. Like it's just so crazy, and she's ignoring people who cal her out because I sent her an ask pointing that out when she said this stuff and she just ignored it it's so crazy

this is actually so transparent that it even has a name: it’s called cognitive dissonance.

we have to be in moral and practical alignment, meaning we need to practice what we preach, basically. but if those two things are inconsistent—you have to jump through hoops to modify your thought process so that your actions make sense.

perfect example: mortal-apollo says she loves lesbians, but also consistently ignores us, tries to silence us, won’t acknowledge when we have a point, and consistently prioritizes rick for his allyship over the lesbians who actually need rick’s allyship and are presumably the reason he’s even an ally in the first place.

when called on this behavior, she can’t accept that she really just hates lesbians. it conflicts too strongly with what she believes about herself. so she talks herself in circles, has bad memories of what really happened, can’t look at the situation rationally, refuses to admit that her behavior really is unacceptable. she can’t apologize because that would mean admitting (to herself, even, i do think that she truly believes she isn’t lesphobic) that her actions in the past have been lesphobic, so instead her memory muddles what happened so she can rationalize the situation in her mind.

I was looking for a good Jungkook smut & your Room For Dessert got me hooked😆😆. I love everything about it! Is there any jungkook stories that you can recommend while we wait for updates?

I get asked this every little while and I always come up going, “Duh………”. I’m so bad with actually reading stories. I’ve done a few fic recs, so lemme just link that? Some of these have the same stories listed more than once, so, sorry about that.

The Chosen Warriors

That cover is so cute. And that baby Mela is so cute. God, this chapter.
But now Mel is REALLY losing control… I was wondering what’s wrong with him but now apparently he’s reverted back to his Commandment self because the only way to get out of Melascula’s cocoon was to go all out with his power. Mela called it Assault Mode and it seems to be something that’s really dangerous. And I say it’s his Commandment self but this is something that wasn’t common back then and actually feared by even his comrades. I wonder what the story behind this is… Completely void of any emotion…
But Escanor is still very keen on punching some sense into him. We’ll have to wait to see more in the double chapter next week though… Can I just assume that it’ll wrap up in those two chapters?
Now it’s Mela vs the remaining 7 and especially King and Diane are shining. But Elizabeth shines the most. Her and Elaine get their fair share of spotlight and really drive Mela into a corner… Or a flask actually.
Elizabeth rids Melascula of all her darkness and… it’s a snake… A tiny snake… A super cute tiny snake that’s not even a demon but a simple snake that absorbed darkness from the demon world… I want to pet her…

This chapter was all kinds of awesome and I really enjoyed it! Cool Sins, cool Elizabeth, TEN COMMANDMENT MEL, Merlin calling Elizabeth Sis-sis, baby snake Mela… Loved it!

(No, seriously, I can’t come up with a name for her D: )

For all the years I’ve been on here, I’ve merely lurked. No original content - except for a few pieces of CC and some random screenshots. No more!

My plan is to start a legacy / story that I’ll actually share here on my Simblr. I’ve written plenty of stories in the past - but none here. And all those amazing stories here just fuels the fire! >:D

The ‘what’s, the ‘when’s and the ‘how’s I’m still working out. And before that, I have to re-do my theme and come up with a tagging system. Sigh, effort.

Anyway, until then I’ll try to keep updating y’all on my whereabouts and post an edit or two. I’m excited, and I hope you all are too! c:

sunday status report

hello again!

i’ve been mentioning a bunch of my wips lately, and i tend to be slow at posting (like, what, maybe posting a story every six weeks if i’m lucky?), so i thought it might be a good idea to post my progress on what i’m currently writing.

if you know anything about how i work, the writing process is actually really quick for me, i just tend to take a lot of time between pieces. i can usually finish around 6,000 words in two days or so once i get a really good idea, but those ideas take me a bit to gather. i’ve been a little slower lately, though, because i’ve got some other stuff going on in my life (yay life).

anyway! here’s where i am in order of importance:

  1. i’ve mentioned it in passing, but i’m now officially working on the wyd? sequel. i’ve got about 1,200 words completed at the moment, and if i keep working at my current pace, i estimate that i’ll be done with it by week’s end. it’s not a second chapter - it’ll be a standalone - but from otabek’s perspective. i’m super excited about it, but i wanna do it right, so i’m taking my time.
  2. cam boy otabek. i haven’t actually begun writing this one, but i’ve sketched out the basic outline. once i get wyd? 2: electric boogaloo pushed out, i’m gonna take a few days and then get to work on it.
  3. untitled sheith softboy fic. look, i think we all know my first jump into any fandom is always some softboy bullshit, so here we are. again, i haven’t started physically writing, but i have it outlined and i’m feeling pretty good about it, so there ya go.
  4. untitled friends-to-strangers-to-friends/maybe more otayuri piece. i’m at about 300 words on this one, and i’m only adding to it as i get good ideas, so it’s not too high of importance, but it’s there.
  5. big bang on ice otayuri submission whoo buddy this one’s gonna be a monster? i’ve never written anything so long in my life and it’s pretty daunting? i’m currently sitting at exactly 7400 words and i’d estimate i’m at roughly a quarter completion. by the time we get to final editing and publishing in february, i’m thinking i’ll be at about 26-28,000 words.

those are the actual fics i’ve been writing. i’m also working on the following hcs, because that’s kind of my bread and butter these days, and i really enjoy writing them so much:

  1. 2 jjbek hcs for jjbek week. i ran out of time to write an actual story, but i’d like to put something out there, if that’s okay. if it ain’t, that’s cool too.
  2. i have about 4 assorted voltron hcs that i’m bouncing around, as well.

anyway, this got real fuckin long and i’m so sorry about that, but i think if i put it out there, it’ll help motivate me to keep moving.

if you have questions or just wanna shout at me to get off my ass and write (i do that enough for all of us, though, honestly), then feel free to get at me!

if you’ve read through all of this, hey thanks for caring!

if you haven’t:

tl;dr: i have some shit. it’s coming along. you’ll see something new soon.

Things that sound fake but actually happen in the first Tarzan novel (1912)
  • Tarzan grows up in the jungle because the sailors on his parents’ ship mutiny and maroon them there. Two decades later, the sailors on his cousin’s ship ALSO mutiny and maroon him and Jane in the exact same area where Tarzan happens to live
  • He’s raised by apes after his parents die because one of them who’s been carrying around her own dead baby is moved by the maternal spirit to drop its corpse in Tarzan’s crib and pick up the human baby instead
  • Tarzan teaches himself how to read and write fluent English by reading his parents’ old books
  • He later leaves Jane and co. really passive-aggressive notes telling them that he’s Tarzan and they better not touch his stuff
  • Tarzan also rescues them from various jungle troubles in person, but he can’t communicate with them because he can’t speak/understand spoken English
  • Jane and her friends spend their entire time in the jungle thinking that there are TWO DIFFERENT people who keep saving them: their reclusive host who leaves them salty messages and signs his name Tarzan of the Apes and then that other guy who lives with the apes
  • Literally they never put two and two together until Tarzan tracks them down in America and tells them he was Tarzan all along
  • Which he does in French
  • Because back in the jungle he rescued a French guy who taught him how to speak that language
  • So Tarzan can read and write English but speaks only French by the time he leaves the jungle
  • Jane goes back to America while Tarzan is off helping his French friend, and he follows her all the way home just to arrive the day before she’s gonna marry a rich guy to cover her father’s debts. It’s literally one of those Taylor Swift STOP THE WEDDING tropes, but with this weirdly buff ape man yelling in French instead
  • Jane’s father has debts because he borrowed a ton of money to charter a ship and follow a pirate treasure map he found, which, logical. We’ve all been there
  • The sailors on that ship are the ones who mutiny and maroon Jane earlier on, after finding the treasure and deciding they want to keep it for themselves
  • But Tarzan sees them rebury the chest and he digs it up and takes it with him to America to find Jane. The sailors are later very confused when they go back and find the treasure missing
  • Meanwhile Tarzan’s friend keeps trying to convince him that he’s the son of those two adult skeletons in his cabin, but Tarzan is all like, nah, I’m pretty sure that baby ape skeleton in the crib was theirs.
  • Oh also yeah, Tarzan totally just left all three skeletons lying around until his human friends showed up and were like, boy, you’re nasty
  • Also Tarzan needs a lot of convincing to believe that his ape foster mom wasn’t his birth mother
  • Like an absurd amount of convincing, really
  • His friend finally proves it by dragging Tarzan to a fingerprint expert in Europe to compare his prints to the baby ones that his dad fortuitously recorded in his journal just before he died.
  • The fingerprint proof means he’s actually the heir to his family’s title and wealth instead of his cousin, but he decides not to tell Jane about it
  • Because after Tarzan interrupts her wedding plans and gives her the pirate treasure (so that she doesn’t have to marry the rich guy), she turns down Tarzan’s own proposal and agrees to marry his cousin instead
  • And he’s like, alright, and leaves
  • Truly one of the great love stories of our time
  • I think she does change her mind and marry him in one of the sequels, but there are literally over two dozen of those that by all accounts are even weirder than this one and I just honestly don’t think I’m ready

I got an S grade on all of Joseph’s dates and got his gallery picture after the credits, which means I got his good ending……it’s the same ending.

There is no ending where you can end up in a happy relationship with Joseph where he leaves his wife and is committed to you. It doesn’t happen.

Details that people are ignoring or missing about Joseph’s route:

There are two opportunities to meet up with Mary at the bar when it’s raining (it’s think this might be a glitch but either way you get different outcomes/dialogue each time it’s triggered)

The first of the scenes is triggered if you go on 2 dates with Robert and possibly 2 dates with Damien but I’m not certain on that last detail, it may not need to be him, or either of them. Either way if you just straight up gun for Joseph you don’t see this.

In this first version of the scene it is revealed that Mary has never gone home with any of the men she propositions. It is also heavily implied that she is afraid to go home.

If you continue to pursue Joseph you are warned AT LEAST of three times that it won’t end the way you want to.

1) In the repeated scene with Mary, if you’re not condescending to her and apologise to her, she says she’s ‘sorry, for us both’ implying that you are both being played by Joseph.

2) Before you go on your third date with Joseph, your daughter warns you about your actions.

3) if you have been on two dates with Robert, he warns you that Joseph is bad news. Some extra context to his warning comes later when Joseph confesses he slept with Robert, but claims it was only once. It’s implied that Joseph is lying about this through details from Robert and a photo on the yacht.

Final point but some people really need to hear this -

Mary is confirmed in the story to have never actually cheated on Joseph. Joseph is confirmed to have cheated on Mary. She isn’t the horrible cheating wife people seem so eager to paint her as (honestly that just comes across as very misogynistic). He is the unfaithful, abusive, manipulative one within the marriage. He treats you exactly the same way it’s implied he’s treated Robert in the past and if you play the game attentively enough this is not only obvious, but it is flagged for you several times over.

To summarise, Joseph’s whole narrative is pretty much a cautionary tale about pursuing the married, closeted man and thinking that you’ll be the one to change/free him, it don’t work like that.

Also, if you think the game is “homophobic” because of this narrative…there are 6 other gay, bi, and trans dads for you to dadmance sooooooo….. (also nothing’s stopping you getting ploughed by Joseph on his sweet yacht if that’s what you’re into)

All Our Secrets Laid Bare (Part One)

Pairing: Peter Parker x reader

Prompt: The reader’s nosy (and quite rude) relatives are coming over for an unexpected family dinner. Long story short, they expect the reader to have a boyfriend, which the reader most definitely does not have. Luckily, they do have a best friend by the name of Peter Parker. One small favor wouldn’t be too much to ask, right?

Warnings: Some angst towards the end.

Word Count: 3,524

A/N: The reader doesn’t know Peter is Spider-Man in this imagine.
Also, I’m sorry if there are any grammatical errors. My usual beta reader wasn’t available and I really wanted to get this imagine posted.

Part Two

“You’re my boyfriend now.”

“I-I’m sorry, what?” Peter stammered back through the phone.

This was not how you planned this day to go.

“It’s a long story. Nosy relatives coming over for dinner, may have lied and said I had a boyfriend just to get them to shut up, don’t actually have a boyfriend, typical family stuff, you know?” you tried to explain.

There was a slight pause as Peter digested all of the information you just threw at him.

“Okay, so basically, you broke under pressure and lied about have a boyfriend, and now you need me to be your boyfriend to protect you from your nosy relatives?” repeated Peter.

You rolled your eyes, perfectly aware that Peter couldn’t see them through the phone call, but positive that he felt the frustration anyway, “I didn’t break under pressure, I just… improvised.”

“Oh yeah, totally,” said Peter, voice dripping with playful sarcasm. “So do you need me to be your boyfriend or not?”

I know I say this a lot but I’m starting to really, really, seriously appreciate Koogi as an artist. With the Summer Special, she really got the nightmare feeling down, and the musical background was spot on with the air as well. It really immersed me while I was reading.

I really have to applaud her on not only knowing what a nightmare may look like but being able to recreate it like this. The abrupt transitions, symbolism, details surrounding the artworks and characters. Handling all of that in a way that is not cliché either. The artwork themselves alone were great examples of uncanny valley, adding that bit of insanity to the overwhelming feeling of being stuck and lost to really seal the deal. It really showed just how haunted by everything Yoon Bum is, and how helpless he feels and made us feel it as well.

The theatre scene in which everyone was looking at him once again showed us how Yoon Bum thinks everyone is watching him, that everyone knows. There was a similar scene in the chapter with the concert, and using this again didn’t feel too much. It didn’t get repetitive because of how far apart the two situations were. It only confirmed that feeling is recurring, and gave us that eerie feeling from being able to see such raw thoughts from Yoon Bum once again, confirming just how unstable and broken he is.

Koogi nails the horror genre. I have to say, I was scared actually scared while reading this. I keep thinking she can’t handle the story better, and with each coming chapter she manages to surprise me again and again. I keep thinking ah, this may be where she fucks up but then I am greeted with something even better than before.

I’m such a big fan.

I want to take a moment to talk about Trini. Yes, everyone has talked about this and I’m sure that whether or not you care about the Power Rangers reboot, you’ve heard about how the Yellow Ranger is a lesbian. I want to talk about why exactly this is significant, and why how it’s handled is so important.

Power Rangers, as a franchise, has had a history with the LGBT community from the very beginning, but not in a good way. David Yost, who played Billy in Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, is gay. Not only is he gay, but he ended up leaving the series due to constant harassment and homophobic bullying from the crew of the show. He walked off the set of Power Rangers Zeo and never looked back. The way they wrote his character out of the show? By having Billy fall in love with a woman offscreen. They offered him a part in a later series, but he understandably turned the offer down.

Despite the franchise’s focus on diversity, they’ve never had an explicitly queer ranger, or even supporting character. They’ve certainly hinted at it in a few cases, the most overt case being Vita Rocca in Power Rangers Mystic Force. She was butch, had a two part story about being the slave of a vampire queen, and enthusiastically agreed that said vampire queen is hot at the end of the season, but none of that was actual confirmation. It was just a little bit of winking and nodding when the moral guardians weren’t looking.

But then this movie came out. And we got to see Trini, the first ever Yellow Power Ranger, come out. Contrary to what you may have seen in fanart and fanfiction, Trini isn’t smooth with other girls, she isn’t openly gay, and she isn’t in a canon relationship with the Pink Ranger. I love those pieces of fanwork as much as the next person, but the movie itself provides a different picture of Trini’s relationship with her own sexuality.

Like I said before, for decades Power Rangers has never done more than playfully hint at a queer character. That changed with one scene. All five of the heroes, sitting around a campfire and talking about their personal issues. That scene is the first time the subject of sexuality has ever been openly discussed in Power Rangers.

It’s a scene where Trini, who has been reserved and has tried to isolate herself up until now, admitting that she likes how often her family moves around, because that way her parents never get a chance to ask her about her relationships. Zack, who up until this scene had been relentless in flirting with Trini and hitting on her, no matter how often he was pushed away and rejected, jokingly asks if she has boyfriend troubles. When he picks up the sarcasm in her response, it clicks for him, and for the audience. If you pay attention, Zack never once hits on Trini after that. He understands, and he treats Trini as nothing more than a friend from that point on.

“Girlfriend troubles?” Is the first time I can ever remember the concept of someone being gay being brought up in a superhero movie. Despite gay and bisexual characters being in films before (Iceman, Mystique, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, Wonder Woman, etc.) their sexualities were ignored and pushed to the side, where viewers wouldn’t see them. But with Power Rangers, Saban finally tried to make up for their past treatment of LGBT people. It’s Billy, now played by RJ Cyler, who tells Trini that her friends will accept her no matter what.

And Trini? She admits that she’s never told anyone about her sexuality before. She’s never openly said that she likes other girls. She tears up when she talks about it, about how terrified she is of coming out to her family. How she doesn’t even know how to tell them what’s going on. And with the overwhelming, sickening trend in film and television of murdering lesbian and bisexual characters, Power Rangers ends with a scene of all the Rangers hanging out in detention. The last shot we see of Trini? Smiling at her friends and playing with a pen. Alive. Happy. Healthy. Knowing that her friends are aware she likes girls, and knowing that they’ll always be there for her.

This movie is the first time that lesbian and bisexual women have been able to see themselves as superheroes on the big screen. It’s the focus of Trini’s character arc, finding acceptance among her new friends. So often, LGBT teens end up in a position where they don’t know how to talk about what they’re feeling. They feel trapped and alone, and this movie went and told them that they won’t be. They’ll find people who love and cherish them. There’s a hero who is like them, and who is struggling with her identity just like they are.

I’m not afraid to admit that I cried when Trini came out. I’m sure I wasn’t the only woman who teared up at finally, finally being able to see herself in a superhero. It feels so powerful, and so wonderful.
