i um…. love chris kreider…. if y’all hadn’t already known that…

I tried my best to ignore the haters being bitter about this month’s Invincible Iron-Man, The tags flooding with hate and trolls won’t stop @’ing me with salty rants and nasty video responses. I just had to get something off my chest as to why this rubs me off the wrong way.

If you didn’t read the chapter, it starts with a flashback of Riri in elementary school.

What pissed off a lot of fanboys is little Riri asked her teacher to tell her she will never do it. This gives the impression that Riri wants to be oppressed or experience racism in order to succeed. So-again-white people declare her a bad character. While everyone is up at arms and cursing black women for this issue. They forget one thing: Black people aren’t running Invincible Iron-Man. Brian Michael Bendis is as white as most of these haters. So why you’re blaming black people for a white man’s poor writing style is beyond me.

I had mutuals come to me saying I complain about this too much and I’m taking this too seriously, but it’s difficult to ignore. Comic book writers have a big audience and they use the characters as a platform. And how Marvel is going, their political platform is going downhill. Fanboys say Marvel is “pandering to SJWS” when I don’t see how. Turning Captain America, Magneto, and Scarlett Witch HYDRA nazis is not a leftist move. And other characters are mouthpieces to be a shame of their race, gender, and sexuality and bashing activism (Nick Spencer, I’m looking at you). Fans are angry how classic white characters are erased for women and PoCs to step in; like Tony Stark being in a coma from Civil War 2 and Riri filling in as Iron-Man. But, its STRAIGHT WHITE MEN making these bad decisions. But fanboys still blame women, PoCs, and LGBT folk for how Marvel comics is heading

As for Riri, I still love her. I just think her story is poorly executed by a white man who doesn’t know what it’s like to be black. Social commentary is not his strong point. How Riri asked her teacher to disbelieve her for motivation reminds me of how Bendis had Miles Morales say not to acknowledge his blackness to that fangirl as if being black is a bad thing. Or had Miles get in a debate with Ganke about who’s the most oppressed. In reality, black people would not do this

Black people do not compete with other people of color. Black people do not go up to white people asking them to be racist to them. Bendis is only teaching his white readers that racism isn’t real and black people are exaggerating for attention or that we want to be oppressed.

I stress how a black woman should write Invincible Iron-Man, but it seems Marvel will stick to Bendis. My advice to upcoming white writers, listen to us. Learn about our culture and struggles if you plan to write black characters. They’re fictional, but they represent us and how you write them affect how your readers view us as people.

Something horrible is happening on youtube

I’m going to preface this post with a content warning. This post is about child abuse. The video I’m going to link includes actually video footage of child abuse. It is one of the most upsetting videos I have ever watched. My post includes in depth descriptions of child abuse.

This morning I watched a Youtube video discussing and highlighting what is happening on another Youtube channel. If you have the stomach for it, I’d suggest watching the video because Phillip DeFranco does a much better job of summarizing the situation than I can.

For those of you who can’t watch, I’ll give you a very brief rundown.

The Youtube channel DaddyOfFive is a combination family vlog and prank channel. In a recent video, the parents pull a prank where they pour invisible ink on one of the kid’s floors and then make him think that they believe he poured ink all over the floor. They scream and swear at this little boy, shouting things like “What the fuck did you do?” while the boy cries and cowers, looking genuinely terrified. Even the best child actors could not pull off looking as genuinely devastated as this child does.

As DeFranco highlights in his video, although all the children are pranked, it seems that this one child (Cody) takes the brunt of the cruelty. In many videos he is seen being hit, kicked, pushed, and pinned down by his older siblings. In one video his father pushes him face first into a book case. In one video Cody begs his family to stop, saying that he’s tired of this. In another video his parents scream at him and tell him he’s the only one in the family who can’t “take a joke”.

In response to some of the flak they have been getting, the parents uploaded a video about “Blocking All The Haters”. They goad the children into saying on camera that they aren’t being abused. Now keep in mind, the kids have been told that all the “Cool stuff” they have been getting is because of the Youtube channel. They know that if the pranks stop, the cool stuff goes away. Most of the children chime in that they are not being abused. Cody hardly says anything. The oldest boy says, “At least you aren’t beating us”.

What is happening to Cody is child abuse. It is emotional, psychological and physical abuse. It is torture. And the worst part of it all is that it is monetized. The parents are being paid by advertisers to abuse this child under the guise of “It’s just a prank, bro”.

So what can we do?

First of all, we can report the videos on DaddyOfFive’s channel for containing depictions of child abuse. If you decide to help by doing this, please be sure to flag the specific instances of abuse such as Cody being pushed or the parents screaming vulgarities at the children.

Second of all, we can let the companies advertising on this channel know that we won’t be buying anything from a company that sponsors videos of child abuse.

Finally, if anyone knows this family in person, they can make a report to CPS. Now the family is claiming that they’ve already been investigated and “cleared” by CPS, but that’s not how this works. Repeated reports mean repeated investigations. You do not give up and look the other way when a child is being abused just because CPS failed to act the first time. When my neighbors were abusing their children, I had to call CPS every week for over a month before something was done. Don’t give up.
You Aren't Imagining It, 'Wonder Woman' Isn't Being Well Promoted
With only a month and change to go, Warner Bros. seems to have little interest in promoting 'Wonder Woman.'

“When Suicide Squad came out, you couldn’t escape the world’s worst heroes. They were everywhere, despite the average audience-goer knowing only who Harley Quinn and the Joker were due to pop culture osmosis. Everyone knows who Wonder Woman is. Yet a quick look at the playlist for Suicide Squad vs. Wonder Woman on the official Warner Bros. YouTube page is as different as night and day.

Approximately a month before Warner Bros. releases one of their biggest films of the year, one that will go down in entertainment history one way or another simply for being the first film starring Princess Diana, the company has released three trailers and two “Tilt Brush” videos explaining the concept art.

At the same point in the marketing cycle for Suicide Squad, the villainous flick already had three trailers, four TV spots, a “Buy Advanced Tickets” promotional video, and fun little biographies for each member of the team. That’s a hell of a lot more promotion for a B-string list of heroes (at best) than for WONDER WOMAN.

Speaking for myself, I have seen exactly ONE commercial so far and that was two nights ago! Where I live they were showing Suicide Squad ads on basically a non-stop loop this far out from the release of SS.

anonymous asked:

so...a Victuuri version of that Adam Scott, Mark Hamill clip needs to happen y/y?

“38.7 million views in 24 hours. Do you know what that means? You beat Adele. You beat the Avengers. You beat that Psy video where he wears harem pants and pushes people off treadmills. You are in a very exclusive club, my friend.”

The audience laughs, and Yuuri should laugh too, but Kerry Washington’s skin is perfect and he can’t stop staring. And her teeth are so white that they don’t even look like teeth. It’s like when he was writing his thesis and spent so much time staring at the opening sentence of the discussion section that he had to check four times to make sure he spelled “the” right. There’s a name for that sort of brain malfunction, but hell if he knows what it is.

honk honk its hance time
  • best friends since literal birth. since before birth. their moms were friends before they were born
    • so many embarrassing baby photos of the two of them in matching halloween costumes e.g. as woody and jessie from toy story
    • so many videos of them as little kids playing in hunk’s backyard, pretending to be explorers on a new planet
    • so many pictures of them at important events in each others’ lives (hunk at lance’s mom’s wedding, lance at hunk’s first piano recital, and of course hundreds of pictures of them at school dances, family vacations, award ceremonies)
    • also they “got married” at age 6 in lance’s bedroom and they both have photos from the wedding saved on their phones
  • hunk: [hyperfocusing] lance: [drawing hearts on post-it notes and slowly covering hunk’s back with them]
  • lance is chronically unable to not talk about hunk. doesn’t matter what he’s talking about, he will somehow relate it back to something hunk has said or done
    • pidge plays a game where she’ll bring up the most absurdly specific and obscure topic of conversation that she can think of with lance, and time how long it takes for him to start talking about hunk
      • his longest record is forty-eight seconds
  • lance: [takes hunk’s hands from behind, makes him dance]
  • both like to stim by making noise & like to copy each others’ noises
    • they will be sitting in the same room, working on separate projects, saying “bleep bleep bloop” back and forth to each other
    • they’re also the Spontaneous Harmonizing couple
  • hunk: [picks up lance when he’s in the middle of talking and just. holds]
    • lance continues talking almost as if he doesn’t notice
  • lance when hunk is being needy: ugh god hunk you’re driving me crazy, why am i even dating you hunk: ok let me just remind you that i, hunk, bore earthly witness to your real actual middle school scene phase, i was there, in the trenches, on the front lines, and i still had a crush on you so you don’t get to complain about anything i do literally ever
  • can smell each others’ meltdowns coming a fucking mile away
  • if one is ever hyperfocusing to the point that it’s sort of Bad the other will just. come over and take his hands and say “ok you’re done with this for now” and take him to get some food goo
  • lance loves when hunk lays on top of him it’s like he’s under a big ol rock and he feels safe and grounded
  • hunk when lance does something cool: [yelling] THAT’S MY HUSBAND

@thatsthat24, in MS Paint! It’s annoying working with no layers but in all honesty, as much time it takes, it really calms my anxiety/dark thoughts. So I decided hey, why not draw Thomas again? Since he always manages to make me smile with his videos and just by simply liking my tweets, I figure he’s always the best person to draw.

Plus, how can you not draw this adorable little bean?? Like what?? Haha

Hope you like it, Thomas!!

✨Advice for caregivers to littles with mental illness ✨

*-These can apply to all genders or sexualities.

-if you’re busy, maybe give them a general idea of what you’re doing/why you’re busy, so they don’t worry too much.

-avoid texting others when you’re with your little. If you must text others, let your little see what you’re texting if they ask.

-aftercare is very important. Try not to forget!

-if they’re telling you about their anxieties and worries, try your best to reassure them; short responses like “I’m sorry babe” can make them feel like you don’t care. We’re opening up to you, so short answers might make us feel neglected or annoying

-be patient; we’re trying our best

-if your little is crying, and you’re not with them at the moment, ask them to go get a stuffie to hold. Tell them to go get some water too, because crying can make people dehydrated: this shows that you care.

-if your little has trouble falling asleep, make sure they take their sleep medicine (if they have it.) other solutions are singing to them, reading them a bedtime story, or if your little sleeps with you, holding them or stroking their hair till they fall asleep, and letting them know that you love them and you won’t ever stop loving them or something cute like that.

-if your little hurts themselves, don’t be mad or blame yourself: it definitely isn’t your fault. Try to stay calm and be gentle, as their mental state is probably very fragile. If you’re with them irl, help them rinse off and bandage up. If you’re long distance, video chat them and ask them to go wash off (and that you’ll wait there until their done) and then when they come back, ask them to put some bandages on them (especially cute ones!!)
Let them know that when they hurt themselves, they hurt you too, because that’s how much you love them. And do your absolute best not to hurt yourself; as their caregiver you gotta set somewhat of an example

-we’re little, not stupid; don’t belittle our feelings, thoughts, or ideas, and don’t treat us like idiots.

-if they say that something you’re doing is making them sad or upset or uncomfortable, either stop it or compromise. Don’t just continue doing it cuz it’s what you want to do. We aren’t trying to “change” you. We’re trying to be able to trust you.

-check in with your little’s self care now and then, as they may struggle with self care due to mental illness. Ask them things like “did you remember to brush your teeth ,baby?” Or “don’t forget to brush your teeth this morning, sweetie!”

-if your little struggles with self care, making them a checklist for daily tasks might be a good idea. Like a separate little rule list, more of guidelines, and if they complete each thing, let them know how proud you are. (Simple things, like brush teeth, shower, shave, stuff like that)

A man talks about his sick baby. Cries constantly. It’s an uncomfortable video to watch at times. It really is.  A little too raw and emotional for live TV.

At the end, he is relieved his sick baby is OK and hopes other sick babies can be OK. There’s a (subtle) acknowledgement of his status and wealth and we, the viewer, understand his kid got the best treatment possible. (He’s a rich talk show host, after all.)

But his point is: He doesn’t think it should matter if a sick baby is poor: they should get healthcare. He knows the system is unfair and wants to fix it. He saw all those other families at the children’s hospital and understood they weren’t like him and didn’t have his money.

And he gets called a snobbish elitist for this. (Um, isn’t what he is saying the opposite of elitism?)

When you realize how deranged, cold-hearted and hypocritical the GOP has gotten. You’d rather call him “a Hollywood liberal” than cope with the truth of what he is saying.
