First line of a fanfic: "She hadn't *meant* to fall asleep, but by the time she opened her eyes, the sun was low on the horizon and her horse was nowhere in sight."
Lothiriel sat upright, her heart pounding as she glanced frantically around her. Only the tall, waving grasses of the Mark greeted her, allowing shafts of the burnt-orange setting sun to pierce her eyes. Where was Faeghrinde? Gods, the king was going to skin her alive! After securing his begrudging permission (with Eowyn’s assistance, of course), that she borrow his prize steed—Shadowfax’s own offspring—she had sworn no harm would come to Faeghrinde. Practically begging on her knees, too!
Lothiriel leapt to her feet, turning towards the direction where she thought Edoras was. But a voice calling to her made her jump and turn around.
“Have you lost something?”
The king’s lazy drawl was too familiar. She scowled as he drew nearer; two horses pranced behind on leads. Of course: his own and Faeghrinde. There was a definite smirk on his face.
“Did you follow me?” Lothiriel snapped, still too agitated from her earlier fear to be polite.
“Not exactly,” the king said, and then grinned. “I was following Faeghrinde.”
She fumed, stalking over to Faeghrinde to snatch the reins away from the amused king, too furious to think of an appropriately scathing response. So Lothriel merely mounted the horse, turned her nose to Meduseld, and left the now laughing king behind her. She was sure he would not be long in following, but with luck they could out-gallop him. He was insufferable, really! To follow her in secret on her ride out of worry that she would harm his horse. Such nonsense!
Lothiriel could hear hoof-beats gaining on them, and with a determined frown she spurred Faeghrinde faster. If the king thought he could catch them, he would be sorely disappointed indeed.
If you were stranded on a desert island with one castmate, who would it be? I think maybe Jiang Wen. He’s taken to teaching me Mandarin. I kind of go up to him between scenes and between takes and just - “How do you say this? How do you say that?”
