Jon: the world benefit greatly from the cease of your insistent banter

oh man guys it’s so hot right now in southern california. Like no cloud in the sky, sun high and blazing, it’s barely 7 am and it’s already 80 degrees Fahrenheit, kind of heat. It’s beginning.

And tomorrow we’re hitting triple digits *cries*

I hate summer.  What does this heat benefit? you can’t do anything comfortable outside unless you wanna burn, your garden plants get cooked, your poor pets get overheated, traffic becomes more hellish than regular. *sigh*

At least it “cools” down somewhat around 5pm ( the breeze starts kicking in and thankfully not a too hot one). I should enjoy this before real summer heat hits.

At least i have good heat tolerance, but i still hate it.

Songs Forgotten and Remembered; Chapter One: Antebellum (Prologue)

Also available on AO3.

Cataline Cousland is just done.

Her entire life, she has been the responsible one, the calm one, the level-headed one. Now, following the murder of her parents, her entire life has been thrown into disarray and old regrets of paths not taken begin to resurface as she faces her new reality. When one of those regrets shows up in Denerim after a ten year absence, Cat has to come to terms not only with what she has been unable to leave behind, but with what she wants for her own future.

For a moment, she forgot how to breathe, and her eyes met his. Despite the easy tenor in his voice, his eyes were dark with an expression that Cataline suspected she recognized, but was too afraid to name.

I know, the border lines we drew between us
Keep the weapons down, keep the wounded safe
I know, our antebellum innocence was
Never meant to see the light of our armistice day.

22 Drakonis, 9:21 Dragon

Spring always came slowly to Highever. Even when the trees stubbornly began to bud and the first insistent blooms would peek their heads out of the ground, the air maintained a chill and the rivers ran cold. Yet somehow, it was still one of Cataline Cousland’s favorite times of the year. There was so much potential in the world in the spring, and she loved seeing the color return to the land after the long dark sleep of winter. It also meant the spring holiday away from school, which she had been looking forward to more than usual this year.

This year, her father’s best friend from childhood, Rendon Howe, and his family were visiting from Amaranthine. Cat had felt a bit guilty for being so excited: she knew her mother was always uncomfortable when the Howes came to visit, and Thomas Howe was downright antagonistic to poor Thea, but her heart had still skipped a beat when her dad had told them. Delilah, the middle daughter who at eleven was the same age as Cat, was nice enough, but it was Nathaniel that she had really been looking forward to seeing.

They were all outside at the moment. Cat and Delilah were working on a jigsaw puzzle and trying to ignore Thomas, who was doing his best to steal her attention away. He had already seen his tenth birthday earlier that year and had developed an unfortunately aggressive nature towards Cat. The fact that she had tried to gently dissuade his attention was completely lost on him. Nathaniel, on the other hand, barely seemed to acknowledge her existence. He had turned thirteen the previous fall, and already saw himself as being too old to hang around with the “children.” The only exception seemed to be little Theadosia, who Nathaniel still didn’t pay much mind to, but he also didn’t roll his eyes at her quite as much as he did his younger siblings.

Her cousin was the youngest of them all. She would be celebrating her ninth birthday tomorrow, but her precocious nature meant that she tended to interact more comfortably with adults than with her peers. Thea had come to live with Bryce and Eleanor Cousland almost a year ago, though Cat had never really been told the reason why. Her parents had patiently explained that it was because the private school Cat attended would offer Thea more opportunities, and wasn’t she excited to have another girl in the house? She had been, actually; she and Thea were more sisters than cousins, but she’d also always suspected there was more to it than what she had been told.

At the moment, Thea was sitting quietly in a lawn chair watching Nathaniel as he sent practice arrows at the target Bryce had set up for him as a concession for the older boy having to spend his spring break in the country instead of the city. No, Cat corrected herself, not watching Nathaniel. Watching the bow. Thea was a curious child, and constantly picking up new skills. Cat was the one whose gaze kept drifting towards Nathaniel himself.

“Come on, Cat,” Thomas wheedled beside her. “Let’s go do something fun.”

“I am having fun, Tommy,” Cat gestured to the puzzle that she and Delilah were working on. “Do you want to help us work on this?”

He snorted derisively. “Looks boring as shit.”

“Tommy!” Delilah gasped. “Don’t let father her you hear you say that.”

“Yeah, right, ‘cause he cares what I say. You know he’ll let me do whatever I want,” he taunted. He tried to grab Cat’s wrist, but she jerked it away.

“I said no, Thomas.”

“I’ll tell my dad and he’ll make you play with me.”

Cat groaned internally. “I don’t think my dad would let him.”

“Says you.”

“Exactly. And I believe she said you can go away.” a cool voice came from behind him, and Cat looked around to see Theadosia standing on the deck, her little arms crossed and a glare in her storm blue eyes. In true Thea fashion, her feet were bare and slightly dirty from running around wild, but if anything it only made her look more fierce, as did the strands of auburn hair that had come loose from her braid and were sticking out at odd angles. Cat sighed. She knew Thea’s temper, and if she got involved, it wasn’t going to end well.

“It’s ok, Thea,” she tried to soothe her cousin, “I can handle it.”

“Yeah, back off orphan,” Thomas sneered at her and, before either girl could react, gave Cataline a hard pinch on the arm.

“Hey,” she shrieked. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Nathaniel set his bow on the ground and stalk towards his brother, but by the time he reached them it was too late.

Because Thea had already decked Thomas on the nose.

Riarkle First Date One Shot (as quick as I could so it's not great)
  • : Knock on the door, Cory answers, Farkle is standing there:
  • Farkle: Hi, Mr Matthews...
  • Cory(surprised): Farkle, hi, come in…don’t you usually use my daughters window as your method of coming and going?
  • Farkle: Well yea, sir, usually I do, but I thought tonight I should use the door…
  • Cory: Tonight? Why tonight?
  • : Maya enters from stairs:
  • Maya(smirking): Cause he’s taking Riley out on a date, Matthews, duh.
  • Cory(staring confusingly at Farkle): ...Wha???
  • : Farkle raises his finger and opens his mouth to anwser, but nervously no words come out:
  • Maya(knowingly): Oh, I’m sorry, had you not heard?!?!
  • : Riley appears on stairs, her and Farkle lock eyes, they start running in slow motion towards each other:
  • Maya: Wow, you two nerds are made for each other.
  • Cory(Stopping them with his hands): Wait wait wait wait wait! America- I mean Riley- you were with Japan- I mean- but now - Canada? You-bowling? Huh?!
  • Riley(smiling): Yea Dad, Canada…taken for granted-
  • Farkle(smiling back): -But always there for you.
  • : Pause, Riley and Farkle just staring at each other smiling goofily, Cory looks horrified, pointing back and forth at them:
  • Maya(starts pushing Riley and Farkle out the door, scoots past a frozen Cory): OKAY, well run along now, have her home by 10 young man, you crazy kids have fun...
  • : Looking back at Cory:
  • ...Don’t worry, it'll be fine.
  • : Maya shuts door behind her:
  • Cory: Will they be fine? Is this a good thing or do I need to be terrified cause I gotta tell ya, I'm feelin a little terrified right now.
  • Topanga(patting him): Aw, honey, don't worry...I think it might be a great thing.
  • —————————————————————————————————————————
  • : Riley and Farkle walking down the street, Farkle has her arm and is almost dragging her he's walking so fast:
  • Riley(laughing): Farkle, slow down! Where are you taking me!? Where are we going?
  • Farkle: It’s a surprise! And no where, cause were here!
  • Riley(looking up): Cafe….Hey. You brought me to Cafe Hey?
  • Farkle: OK Zay told me it was lame, but our grandparents met here and I thought it would kind of a cool idea to-
  • Riley: -I love it.
  • Farkle(proud of himself): I thought you might say that. And it's a good thing you did-
  • Riley: Why?
  • Farkle: Cause it’s open mic night for poetry and I signed you up!
  • Riley: -say what now?
  • Farkle(dragging her in): You can do that poem you wrote based on Our Town for English class-
  • Riley: Farkle, I don’t have it memorized I can’t just-
  • Farkle: -Of course not, I know that! ...But are you gonna tell me you DON'T have it written down in the notebook you're carrying inside your purse?
  • : Riley is frozen, giving him the death stare:
  • Farkle: You'll do great! You were Juliet in the school play!
  • Riley: Farkle, that was pretending to be someone else. This is…me, being me in front of a bunch of strangers. I can’t do that!
  • Farkle: Riley you can’t be anything BUT you. And that poem is beautiful… Come on, what would great grandma Rosie do?
  • : Waitress comes up to get there order:
  • Farkle: Two mango smoothies, extra thick with spoons please.
  • (turning his attention back to Riley nonchalantly)
  • …So?
  • Riley(smiling admiringly from the order he made): She would probably thank you for making her go up there.
  • Announcer: Thank you, Cool Cat Joe, who once again has lived up to his name by reading us yet another piece on the riveting aspects of what it's like being a cat owner! Alrightttt, so next up we have...Riley Matthews, with her poem "Horizon"! Let’s show her some love, my people!
  • : Audience snapping, Riley suddenly looking terrified:
  • : Riley walks up to stage, trips a little up the stairs, gets blinded by lights, and blocks them with her arms. Lights dim so she can see. She looks out, terrified/horrified look on her face, but seeing Farkle smiling at her. She begins:
  • Riley:
  • It all seems to stop
  • Right at once.
  • I breathe in, deep-
  • As the whole world
  • slowly turns to gold
  • And sometimes it seems like
  • We are nothing but tiny specks
  • In our towns,
  • Our cities,
  • Our Universe,
  • Our lives.
  • But I stand up,
  • I stand strong,
  • Dressed in glitter and rainbows
  • Determined to find hope
  • Or some silver
  • In even the tiniest of linings.
  • And that’s how I know
  • There is no end
  • To my Horizon.
  • …Thank you.
  • : Pause of silence, crowd bursts with applause, standing ovation:
  • : Riley has tears in her eyes, looking out at crowd:
  • ;Runs down to hug Farkle;
  • Riley: THAT...WAS AMAZING! THANK YOU! This is the greatest date ever!
  • Farkle: Don’t say that yet. This is a two parter! You ready for what comes next?
  • Riley(pensive): Yea….I think I am.
  • ——————————————————————
  • : Riley and Farkle on a rooftop stars are shining extremely bright and clear:
  • Riley: Wow, Farkle this is…beautiful
  • Farkle(pridefully): I know, right?
  • Riley: It’s like we’re-
  • Farkle: -Tiny specks in the Universe?
  • Riley(laughing): Exactly.
  • Farkle: So this whole being on a date thing…do you think it's weird?
  • Riley(poking fun): Weird? Why, because it’s with you, Farkley, orange turtleneck wearing boy genius, who I’ve known since he was practically in diapers?
  • Farkle(embarrassed but laughing): Hey, I don't wear those things anymore! But-yea, cause of that.
  • Riley(Ponders, then says): ...No. Actually, it kinda feels like we should have been doing this the whole time. Is THAT weird?
  • Farkle(looking down): It's not even a little bit weird.
  • : Long pause, Farkle looks back up at the sky:
  • Farkle: …So did you hear they’re thinking of making pluto a planet again?
  • Riley: Yea, how ‘bout that.
  • Farkle: They said by 2018 it might be officially reinstated as part of our solar system
  • Riley(beat): Do you know everything, genius?
  • Farkle(shrugging): Not everything thing, just most things...and I dunno, I guess maybe I check up on stuff that's important to you sometimes...just to sure good things happen cause I know it'll make you happy-
  • Riley: -Farkle?
  • Farkle: Yea?
  • Riley: I really like you.
  • : Farkle smiles, they both look back up at the sky. Farkle grabs her hand, starts to hold it, Riley looks surprised:
  • Farkle: Is...this OK?
  • Riley: It's perfect.

Some of you cool cats wanted more SeriRei so here you go :9

they are getting ready for a spirit exorcism that’s at a fancy restaurant so ofc they gotta play the part (reigen with his roundabout logic……………pls just ask him on a date like a normal person)

i think a big goal in my life is to one day possess the nonsensical exuberance of Olan Rogers. it’s a Monday? let’s go freak the hell outta someone in the Target bathroom. you walked by a cat? fistbump that cool kid and go get some tater tots. this guys is so unapologetically thrilled about stuff and thats really something i aspire towards

The Warrior Cats series was the shit

I read those books through out my childhood

I thought it was so fucking awesome how cool the cats lived you know, hunting, eating, going to clan meetings, the whole kit initiation, being an apprentice, then becoming a warrior and having an awesome name

And then you get to fight clan battles and shit and damn is that awesome

And being deputy like holy shit that shit is banging

But holy shit was that series dark!! You got beloved characters ripping each other’s throats out

You got wild dogs ripping and maiming the cats you feel you grew up with and you got the strong fearless leader you loved for her wisdom and strength losing her confidence and her trust in everything

And then you find out she’s flawed and her kids hated her and that the clans are racist bastards because you can’t mate between clans

And then like

The whole thing with Scourge was so fucked up

You literally have a cat who uses dog teeth to slash a cat from rear to head in one move

I mean can you even imagine that?

Poor Tigerstar was a huge dick but he died choking on his blood and bleeding from the entire length of his body

I mean the series never shied away from violence but that’s pretty jacked man.

The last two books were where it got real though, honestly.

The whole thing with dogs was terrifying and so was the evil cat clan that just bathed in blood.

I did sort of like Scourge though. He was badass.
