there were more lines

This is rough, because I mostly did this to experiment with some pencils.  I ordered more pencils, but wasn’t paying attention and ordered the wrong blue.  It’s a much darker blue than I usually work with, and I wasn’t sure if it would really work for drawing and then getting rid of the blue in PS.  So I wanted to do something quick and dirty to find out.

(Verdict: ehn, on the one hand it worked. But the darker lines were kind of distracting.  Oddly more distracting than sketching in graphite? I don’t know why. But not so dark I couldn’t get rid of the sketch lines in PS, so that’s okay. They’ll do in a pinch, but I prefer the lighter non-photo blue color.)

Anyway: mullet Stan, because @ancientouroboros said I should draw him more. :)

namjoon is the cutest make sure to tell your friends

Writers: So, we’re ending the episode with Kara almost kissing Mon-El. We want that to kind of set the pace for next week. That means Katie…Katie?

Katie blinks, returning attention to room.

Katie: I’m sorry, I never listen when you’re talking about forced heteronormativity.

Writers freeze for a beat: Right…well, we’re gonna need you to kind of tone down the gay in the friendship scene with Kara because we’re having a hard time making karamel’s chemistry seem real.

Katie: Friendship scene? (flips through script) Don’t think I have one of those.

Writers: At the end, when you’re thanking Kara.

Katie: For risking her life to save mine and then carrying me out bridal style?

Writers: In a friendly way.

Katie: But I filled her office with flowers…

Writers: Yes, platonically

Katie: I tell her she’s more than a friend and basically called her my wife

Writers: I believe the line says family, we were thinking more like cousin

Katie: She says ‘Always.’ J K Rowling has immortalized that line as a declaration of undying love.

Writers begin to show exasperated bafflement.

Writers: Look, Katie, just stick to the script with as much ‘no homo’ as possible

Katie: Right

Writers: Why are you winking?

Katie: I don’t know what you mean, this is just my face.

Writers: So we understand each other?

Katie: Oh yes, subliminal message received. You now have deniability.

Writers: What??! Katie, we’re serious. KATIE…

Shadowhunters 2x13 ‘Those of Demon Blood’: favorite & iconic lines

bonus (because they’re cute and we can all relate to dot tbh):

Not much art for today, but I spent hours compiling all of my old Cressieverse stuff (and tracing it since most of it is in paper) to bring you this!

To start off, me and good ol’ @paneyneygirl (yes she’s on Tumblr now, but she hasn’t posted any art yet because of technical problems) developed the AU way back in mid March 2017, since we wanted to make our own future SVTFOE universe. There was a lot of variations, scrapped idea designs, and complete redesigns that helped mold Cressieverse to what it is today!

A little insight:
Cressida Butterfly was initially supposed to have four-pointed stars as her cheek marks, as we didn’t know of Festivia’s cheek marks yet. When we eventually realized our mistake, we randomly chose a triangle, because it’s a pretty simple symbol. You can see that it wasn’t drawn as inverted back then, but when we thought about it did look a awful lot like nachos, and it stuck. We colored it orange and the rest is history.

And yes, my friend’s concept art for Cressie looked an awful lot like a Princess Marco wannabe back then, so we removed the thick eyebrows. She swore that she improved on drawing Cressie since then, and I couldn’t agree more.

More insight of Cressie’s design here!

Star and Marco were originally going to have the usual blue clothing that everyone seem to put them in. In the sketches, Star’s designs were more along the lines of what Moon would wear. But me and my friend realized out mistake and eventually changed the designs. Thematically speaking, Star should look very different to Moon, hence the late as all hell change to Star’s head shape.

I hope you find this the least bit interesting, because we’re hella proud of what this AU turned out to be and that people really like it and draw fanart of it. Think of this as kind of like a ‘behind the scenes’ thing.

psst @dasketcherz i’m done with this

Rhysand is the…

Prompt: Cassian and Feyre BROPT moments

“Cassian, what is this word?”

He didn’t ask, but Cassian rarely did, but she knew that look meant he was curious. “I’ve only been reading for less than a year, every so often a word trips me up and today I am just too lazy to go look it up.”

Cassian looked at her, with what she could best describe as shock, “Tamlin taught you how to read?”

She couldn’t hold back her laughter, “Cauldron no, Rhys did.”

He chuckled before he said, “You poor thing, did he make you write those stupid sentences too?  Those were the worst. Rhysand is this, Rhysand is that, I wanted to kill him.”

In her best Rhys voice, “Rhysand is the most cunning High Lord, or my all-time favorite, Rhysand is the best lover a female can ever dream of.”

“Well Rhys has always been a prick, mine were more along the lines of Rhysand is the best fighter.”

She shows him the word colonel.

“In all fairness that word does not follow any pronunciation rules, it is pronounced kernel.”

At dinner that night Cassian couldn’t help himself, “Could Rhysand the best lover a female could ever dream of, pass the potatoes?”

ficlet: aggression

dealanexmachina said:

“trini has a very aggressive way of fighting” - Talk to me about Trini being tiny, being Latina, being a woman, being a not straight child of her traditionalist parents, and just *different* - and how that manifests in her fighting style. Tell me about how she pours all of her feelings into her fights, and because that’s what happens when someone like Trini suddenly becomes strong enough to crush a boulder with her tiny fist. Then tell me how it compares to Kimberly’s fight style, how it's lifts and assists and support like cheerleading would have taught her, but also bending and dodging because that’s how she’s learned to navigate the pressures of her parents and being one of the popular kids in school. How Kimberly’s sense of self is rooted in fear of one’s power and her journey to realize just how much power she wields and how much damage she can inflict or support and protection she can give is paralleled in both sides of her life. Talk to me about how as Rangers, Trini is all aggression, and Kimberly is all feints and dodges, but as teenagers, in the halls of high school, it’s flipped. Because Trini is the one who blends in the shadows while Kimberly engages in public shows and confrontation. Talk to me about what happened to that cut scene with Trini in front of the locker that had hateful language written all over it, and what they do now. Talk to me about how their fighting styles end up complimenting each other because for the first time, they’re depending on each other. How dodges and parries work in tandem with forceful attacks and blunt force that doesn’t back down. Talk to me about their fight styles start to bleed into each other as they learn from each other, inside of training and outside as they learn to stand up for each other and themselves. Talk to me about all the fighting metaphors and styles for Trini and Kimberly, please.

They shouldn’t match up. Anger vs. fear. Punch vs. dodge. Running at the problem vs. running full-tilt away. They shouldn’t make a solid pair.

bakery au (oldie but a goodie)

Part 1

“He hates me,” Bitty moaned, flopping on his couch. Holster was raiding his kitchen, listening to his rant about Jack Zimmermann.

“I don’t even know what I did wrong! Maybe it was because I told him that he played a hard game last night the first time he came into the bakery? All he does is glare at me and say stuff like ‘Eric, the coffee is too sweet,’ or ‘Eric, you need more protein.’”

“Brah, maybe Zimmermann just has a total resting bitch face,” said Holster as he pulled out a leftover pie from Bitty’s fridge. “Guy seems fucking intense. At least he’s good for business.”

“He keeps on glaring at me! And he comes in, like, three times a week. Orders a coffee and just drinks it in his corner, ignores my attempts at conversation even though, mind you, he has already said some pretty rude stuff!”

“The guy’s a celebrity, he probably has his head so far in his ass and doesn’t care about shit, and also just wants some privacy. Bits, you haven’t been taking pictures of him and posting it on twitter have you?” Holster asked, alarmed.

Bitty gasped, “Adam Birkholtz! I would never!”

“Then just treat him like an antisocial customer, he can’t be the only one going to the bakery who doesn’t want conversation and just wants service and food,” Holster said, dropping down next to Bitty on the couch with two tins of pie.

“I know,” Bitty sighs. “He’s just…so handsome. And he was so nice to Nursey when that fool tripped. And he tips generously. And he’s just so gorgeous, even when he’s glaring at me and speaking in grunts whenever I ask him how his day has been. I just want him to like me!”

Holster navigated the TV to a rerun of Golden Girls and handed Bitty one of the pie tins. “I think that’s your problem. You’re an amazing person, Bits, but maybe you can be a bit too friendly for resting bitch face robozoid Zimmermann. Maybe stop asking him about his day and just let him chill.”

So I traced. I don’t normally trace (I can draw decently), but something was bothering me about Rapunzel’s design in the new animated series.  I decided to try my own version. I love the organic feel of the series, but I wish the lines were less harsh and the colors had a more pastel feel like the movie.  Here is my design based on Tangled the movie.

I do not own Tangled or the art on the left (I drew/altered the one on the right)

Chuck Berry, Musician Who Helped Define Rock ’N’ Roll, Dies at 90
By Jon Pareles

While Elvis Presley was rock’s first pop star and teenage heartthrob, Mr. Berry was its master theorist and conceptual genius, the songwriter who understood what the kids wanted before they did themselves. With songs like “Johnny B. Goode” and “Roll Over Beethoven,” he gave his listeners more than they knew they were getting from jukebox entertainment.

His guitar lines wired the lean twang of country and the bite of the blues into phrases with both a streamlined trajectory and a long memory. And tucked into the lighthearted, telegraphic narratives that he sang with such clear enunciation was a sly defiance, upending convention to claim the pleasures of the moment.

In “Sweet Little Sixteen,” “You Can’t Catch Me” and other songs, Mr. Berry invented rock as a music of teenage wishes fulfilled and good times (even with cops in pursuit). In “Promised Land,” “Too Much Monkey Business” and “Brown Eyed Handsome Man,” he celebrated and satirized America’s opportunities and class tensions. His rock ’n’ roll was a music of joyful lusts, laughed-off tensions and gleefully shattered icons. [Read More]
