there was no movie made from our show

I honestly tried so hard not to ship Destiel but it's just one of those ships y'know you just kinda accidentally ship and I really don't wanna cause some of the fandom is kinda toxic but I can't help but to ship it

Dude, SAME.

Honestly, I’ve never shipped anything before (I liked it when Spike x Buffy did eventually go somewhere and was kinda beautiful but I didn’t really ship it), I didn’t even know what shipping was until I found tumblr a few months ago, I’m mostly straight (I’m a bit fluid but meh, mostly straight), and I never really thought about representation that much beyond ‘yeah, thats a great thing, there should be more of it’.

So I just watched the show (on my own) with no previous knowledge of anything at all and…. well…. it was so obvious?!

I mean, I just binge watched the show last year because I love sci-fi and I was in a bit of a bad place and needed a distraction and had watched all the Buffy/True Blood/GoT I could and was looking for something new.

I loved seasons 1-3, I did, but then, enter Castiel and literally, my life has kind of changed?! I have an obsessive personality anyway but…. jeez. What a character and WHAT A ROMANTIC GLORIOUS LOVE STORY!

And then it just dragged… and dragged…. and yet also GREW so much?!

So, like, what exactly are they doing? Well, I believe they know exactly what they are doing, especially since Dabb took over, but hey, let’s see…. but my blog description is ‘endgame Destiel positive’ so you know what I mean ;)

It’s all THERE, they all know its there, the writers USE it in their plots, the editors make it visually obvious, it’s even referenced in the show, the actors all KNOW, I mean come on!

It’s not our fault if they use all the romance tropes with these two.

I think it is very relevant that so many Destiel meta-writers and shippers have a background in understanding stories, being teachers, journalists, book worms, cinematography students etc etc and therefore can make pretty good conclusions from the material that is being shown.

I mean, the overall story of these two characters is that one is a fallen, rebellious Angel who just wants to feel Human and belong somewhere and loves caring for others and one is a faithless man with abandonment issues who just wants someone to stay with and care for him.

Said fallen Angel rebels and does it, all of it for Him, eventually looking to Him instead of God, is in return called ‘family’ and cared for himself.

Said Human learns to have Faith in and through his Angel and through this in himself, which is a key part of his overall story in the whole show.

They’re WRITTEN as each other’s canonical other half (see this post about how its a romantic and not a buddy story according to literary guidelines).

Their story is like so many rom-com, shakespearean and classical for that matter love/mythical stories where they start out on opposite sides and kind of meet in the middle you know? The idea being that they ‘complete’ each other and lead themselves to be the best that they can be and who they really are and want to be deep down? As these two clearly do?!

I’ve said before and I’ll say again, Dean and Cas are canonically central to each other’s CORE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT and their endgames are INTERLINKED.

I mean, if this was a guy and a girl and it was a movie, so all the story was shown in 1h30 minutes and at the end they were like oh, no, but you see, they’re just FRIENDS. Literally everyone would just be like WHAT?!

The fact that Disney movies and romcoms are so highly parallel-able with Destiel, because it fits that literary box - as a romance, not a buddy story or a drama or even a familial story, it does up to a point, but it definitely transcends this and moves into romance realms pretty early on, like, season 5 FFS.

It’s not our fault, the show made us do it.

If fandom wank is a problem for you, well, I don’t like it either, I guess no one does apart from the ones instigating it who seem to get a high off it, I just blacklist on tumblr and I don’t attend cons, so… meh, I have this gorgeous little space where we all know and all discuss what is happening and it is lovely, feel free to join us :)

So, I hear you liked TURN.

Apres the Season 4 finale, I know there’s going to be a lot of crying, and hand-wringing, and rewatching, and these are all good and proper things to do in the wake of a TV show you’ve enjoyed.

But after the smoke clears from all of that, you’re maybe going to go looking for your next 18th century fix, just something in between rewatches or while you’re trying to flesh out your next story idea. (Hey, now that we have our canon, go hog-wild on story ideas, guys, seriously.)

So I’ve saved you some trouble and made you all a helpful list.

Obviously there are a lot of movies and TV shows out there - this is just a selection that I wish more people knew about.

Note: Everyone enjoys a show or movie for different reasons. These shows are on this list because of the time period they depict, not because of the quality of their writing, the accuracy of their history or the political nature of their content. Where I’m able to, I’ve mentioned if a book is available if you’d like to read more.

Before we get to the rest of the list, there are three excellent shows that are either currently on television or about to be very soon:

Poldark (BBC/PBS) is based on a series of books by an author named Winston Graham. It was made into a PBS series in the 70s starring Robin Ellis as the handsome Captain Poldark, who returns from the American Revolution to find his family farm in tatters and his long-time love interest married to his cousin. Drama ensues. The 70s series is worth your time, and the recent remake with Aidan Turner in the title role is also definitely worth a go. (If you like leading men who make terrible life decisions and the women who put up with them, this is totally your show.)

Harlots (Hulu) - If you really loved the TURN ladies, thought Lola and Philomena deserved more than they got, or are just interested to learn more about what life might have been like for the lower classes in London in the 1750s, have we got a deal for you. Harlots follows the lives of 18th century sex workers in this new drama, which was just recently renewed for a totally deserved second season. Female-lead ensemble drama. A little violent at points and deals with some pretty heavy-duty topics like rape, murder, and bastardy, but in a humane and understanding way. Totally bingeable.

Outlander (Starz) - Based on the wildly popular series of books by Diana Gabaldon, this time traveling drama jumps between a couple of different centuries and follows the story of Jamie and Claire, two very strong personalities trying to literally find their place in history. (Hewlett talks about the blade his grandfather picked up at Culloden; that battle forms a critical part of this show’s storyline.) It’s a real pretty show with very high production values.

And, without further ado, the rest of the list!

John Adams:  If you haven’t watched this already, do yourself a favor and go pick it up from the library. Starring Paul Giametti in the title role, this HBO miniseries follows John Adams’ role in the formation of America, through his early days in Congress up through his own presidency. As with any biographical show, characters that we know and love from other media (Rufus Sewell’s Hamilton comes to mind, but see what you think of David Morse’s Washington, too) are presented in a slightly different light and provide some food for thought about how history can be selective in how it remembers us. The costuming is great, the sets are fantastic, and the acting is first-rate.

The Patriot: An oldie but a goodie. Mel Gibson plays a highly fictionalized version of Francis Marion, the Swamp Fox while Jason Isaacs turns in a really stellar hottie we love to hate in Colonel Tavington. A little heavy-handed at times, this is a good movie to laugh over with friends.

Sons of Liberty: I’ll be really honest - for a show from the History Channel, the history on this show is pretty awful. But the cast is pretty. This one’s up to you, really. It fills a hole.

Garrow’s Law: William Garrow was a barrister and a pioneering legal mind in the 18th century, and this show (which ran for 3 seasons) is based on real Old Bailey cases and Garrow’s defenses, while also working in his fraught social life. Were you interested in learning a little more about Abe Woodhull’s erstwhile legal training? This is the show for you.

City of Vice: A miniseries that explains the origins and work of the Bow Street Runners, one of London’s first police forces.  Does a great job of opening up some of the early 18th century underside of London including a smidge of 18th century gay culture.

A Harlot’s Progress: William Hogarth was an 18th century artist, printmaker and social commentator whose “A Harlot’s Progress” famously depicts the downfall of a woman who goes into prostitution. This 2006 series explores the relationship that inspired the ‘Harlot’ piece.

The Incredible Journey of Mary Bryant: At around the same time America was busy trying to figure itself out, halfway around the world another one of Britain’s colonial possessions - Australia - was just getting started. Hundreds of convicts found themselves stuffed in ships and sent to the other side of the world - a sentence deemed almost more humane. This 2005 series with Romala Garai follows a very famous convict, Mary Bryant, and her experiences.

Banished: Another take on penal colonies in Australia. Currently available on Hulu.

Black Sails: A more recent offering from Starz, this show explores the backstory of the pirates in Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island. Lots of great representation issues, a whole lot of ‘how does your story get told’ - and there’s a real big community on Tumblr who loves it and very actively produces all kinds of fic.

Clarissa - Simcoe fans, this one is totally for you. Based on the epistolary novel by Samuel Richardson, Clarissa follows a girl of the same name as the infamous rake Lovelace tries to seduce her. Another look at what how women can be corrupted. Also, for you fandom nerds in the crowd, Lovelace was one of the first characters to inspire fix-it fic. Yes, really! Fix-it fic in the late 1700s. Lovelace is one of the original men for whom the ‘No, really, I can reform him’ trope was created. (Richardson, his creator, was so horrified by this reaction by his fans that he actually revised the book several times to try and make Lovelace even more villainous and irredeemable, with little success. Then as now, women apparently love the idea of a bad boy.)

Amazing Grace - The history of slavery in England and its colonies is complicated and nuanced; this story deals with one of the more famous names from that story, William Wilberforce, and his contribution.

Belle - Based on the true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle, the mixed race daughter of a Royal Navy Admiral. Another look at racial politics in England.

The Aristocrats - One of my all-time favorite TV miniseries and based on the nonfiction book by Stella Tilyard, this show follows the (actual, nonfictional) Lennox sisters, daughters of the Duke of Richmond as they grow up, marry, and adjust to rapid social change from the early 1700s into the 1790s.

The Duchess  - About the same time the Lennox sisters were out in society, so was Georgiana, the Duchess of Devonshire. This is based on (I’m not sure how closely) Amanda Foreman’s biography of Georgiana, one of the leading ladies of her day.

Dangerous Liasons - Another story about corruptible young women, this one has 3 very well deserved Oscars to its name and an absolutely stunning Glenn Close.

Barry Lyndon - a very evocative, sumptuous film by Stanley Kubrick. Short on action, but very, very Aesthetic, as only Kubrick can do.

The Scarlet Pimpernel - Based on the book by Baroness Orczy, The Scarlet Pimpernel is largely considered to be one of the world’s first ‘superhero with a secret identity’ stories. Sir Percy Blakeney uses his identity as a dim-witted fop to provide cover for his activities rescuing French aristocrats from the guillotine during the French Revolution. The 1982 version with Anthony Andrews and the 1999 version with Richard Grant are both a lot of fun.

Speaking of the French, where would we be without them? Our small domestic dust-up with Britain has far-reaching international consequences, setting in motion so many other social movements in Europe. The French, for instance, will have their own revolution several years after ours, which, of course, will lead to a total political shakeup ending with an artillery officer named Napoleon Bonaparte on the throne as Emperor. (You may have heard of him. He goes on to have his own series of large wars and, you know, completely changes the geo-political landscape of Europe. Like you do.)

La Revolution Francaise, filmed for the 200th anniversary of the Revolution, is available on YouTube in it’s entirety with English subtitles! Starts in 1774 and goes through the 1800s. C’est merveilleux.

Marie Antoinette - Sofia Coppola’s wild, modern romp through the life of one of the 18th century’s most notorious women. It may not be great history, but darn me if it isn’t fun to watch.

Farewell, My Queen - Another story about Marie Antoinette - this one is in French.

Nicolas Le Floch: An 18th century crime procedural set at the court of Louis XVI. The whole show is in French, so watch with subtitles, but the costumes are a lot of fun and it gives an interesting picture of the life a character like Lafayette would have left behind when he came to America. (He gets name dropped a few times, actually, though he never actually appears.)

Ekaterina: A 2014 miniseries from Russia discussing the rise of Catherine the Great, the Empress of Russia from 1762 to 1796, contemporaneous to the Revolution. The 18th century is a fascinating time in Russian history and Catherine is a really, really interesting lady. Totally go and read about her.

Anno 1790: A Swedish crime procedural set in 1790s Sweden and following Johann Däadh, a doctor recently roped into the police force. Däadh is a bit of a reformer, interested in the rights of man and giving everyone a chance to be heard. Costumes are fun, and there’s a really great slow-burn romance between two of the characters, one of whom is (gasp) married. This show only ran for one season, but it was a really, really good season.

If you’re still jonesing for period dramas after the rest of this list, here’s a lot of shows and tv series set during the Napoleonic Wars that are also totally worth your time - the Richard Sharpe miniseries, the Horatio Hornblower miniseries, the BBC’s War and Peace, Master and Commander, and then, of course, anything based on a Jane Austen novel.

Have fun!

You not only drew the key visual and designed original characters for Fairy Tail Dragon Cry, but also worked on a storyboard close to 200 pages in length. What made you so involved in the production of the movie?

All I did was to start drawing after the request came (laugh). The request to make a movie came in just when the manga was entering its final part, and I had many ideas floating around in my head. Nothing would begin if no one does anything, and I wanted to give my best since I was asked to be involved in it.

When did talk about writing an original storyboard start?

There was interest expressed in making another movie right after the first movie (Fairy Tail the Movie: Phoenix Priestess) was released. I was also interested, and since I had amassed many ideas that I was not able to use in the manga, I tried to come up with a story leading to a new climax. I was hoping that the release of the movie could coincide with the climax of the manga, even though I did not specifically aim for it to happen.

When the PV of the movie was released, there was also a comment posted of you saying “I want to make a movie that is focused on entertainment.” Which parts of the movie contribute to that?

I came up with the story of Phoenix Priestess while thinking “I want to make all the fans cry”. However, Dragon Cry turned out to be a simple story with its highlight being the intense battles and flashy action scenes. I thought that it would be nice to make a movie that the audience can enjoy without having to think too much while watching. I also drew the key visual, and I wanted the scene where half of Natsu’s body is dragonized to be the focus.

You also commented that there are surprises in the movie.

A certain character’s past, which has not been touched on in the manga, is revealed in the movie. Please watch attentively “to the end”! In addition, there are various references made in the movie, even though many of them have unfortunately been cut… You can see what has been cut by comparing the movie with the original storyboard. The storyboard is merely a draft, and it’s embarrassing to show it to everyone.

I’ve seen both the original storyboard and the film, and I feel that the original characters Swan, Doll and Gapri are even more charming in the movie as compared to the original draft.

I made additional suggestions after submitting the original storyboard, and also received suggestions from the anime staff. There were many parts of the movie which were touched up after we integrated our ideas. Of the 3 characters mentioned, Swan became an especially good character after that. I have yet to watch the completed film, but I think that it’s an enjoyable movie.

We can also see new settings that have yet to appear in the manga.

Most of these, including the “surprise” that I’ve mentioned earlier, are things that wouldn’t be included in the manga and drawn only for the movie. In that sense, the movie complements the manga and I hope everyone will enjoy it.

You have also worked on the storyboard for the original animation DVDs (OAD) that were bundled with the manga volumes. Were there aspects of that experience that you made use of when you worked on the original storyboard for this movie?

The original storyboard is also a draft proposal, drawn with the expectation that the anime staff would adjust its contents accordingly. I drew it with the same feeling as I would draw the manga. However, doing the anime storyboard was difficult, and I had a tough time! I drew it while timing the seconds with a stopwatch in one hand, and also repeatedly grappled with trying to understand terms that I had just learned while working on it.

You handled the writing of the original storyboard in a similar manner as the manga.

When it comes to the weekly serialization of the manga, there have been times when I was absolutely stuck and and just decided that “I’ll just drag things on till the next chapter for now, and wager on myself (when I work on the chapter for) next week!” (laugh). That wouldn’t work when it comes to the draft of the anime, and I made sure that I handled the story composition and development properly, recalling the days when I was still a rookie.

Please tell us about yourself as well. What are the kinds of things that interest or appeal to you when you come into contact with a piece of work?

I think a good piece of work is one that surprises the audience, and I tend to like those that contain an unexpected twist right at the end. I keep in mind the joy of trying to surprise my readers when I am drawing as well. When I’m developing my story, I don’t foreshadow one event after another, but instead often adopt a pattern where I’ll add in some foreshadowing at parts that I can potentially expand on, and revise it when I expand on the event subsequently. I’ve become good at this since I’ve been doing it for a long time, but there have also been times when sharp readers have pointed out something that had been retconned. I want to work towards being able to draw my manga in such a way that nothing appears to be retconned even if I had revised something retrospectively. RAVE was my debut manga, and I drew it with all the developments firmly set in place. However, serialization of Fairy Tail began with me casually deciding that the story is more or less about wizards going on jobs. It was fun coming up with stories about the various situations they encounter, and I think this style is one that suits me.

Two chapters of Fairy Tail will be concurrently released on 26 April in the combined issue 21.22 of Weekly Shonen Magazine. You are known as someone who works quickly; What is the secret behind that?

I’m not fast at all! It just appears to be that way! I’m happy that people think that way, but my pace of work cannot be considered fast if you were to leap in and see the manga circle from the inside. I have to accelerate my schedule little by little many months before so that I can stock up, and only release 2 chapters at one go when I have a surplus of one full chapter of content. I don’t draw 2 chapters worth of content all of a sudden (laugh).

You also post illustrations of Fairy Tail on Twitter even though you’re busy.

I started it as a form of fan service, and also partly as a hobby because it was a fun. I’m also glad that I get to personally experience the support of many foreign fans through the replies I receive. I’ve heard about having foreign fans from the editorial department, but I thought that they were just paying me lip service (laugh). I worked on the manga with an awareness of the foreign market after that. For example, I try to ensure that the shape of the speech bubbles are more circular rather than elliptical so that it would be easier to fit the English-translated lines. I also take into consideration the difficulties of translation, and stopped including puns that play on the Japanese language.

Fairy Tail has been serialized for 10 years, and next year marks 20 years of your professional debut as a manga artist. Please tell us your feelings about your journey.

This 10 years passed in the blink of an eye. It feels like only so little time has passed, yet at the same time, it has already been 10 years. I was a high school student when I started seriously aiming to be a manga artist, and looking back, I think I was really lucky. I was also aided by the trend of the times. There were hardly any fantasy manga in Weekly Shonen Magazine at the time of my debut, and filling that niche has allowed me to come this far.

Lastly, please leave a message for the fans.

If you enjoyed watching Dragon Cry, that is because of the effort put in by the anime staff. Please convey your comments to them. The Fairy Tail manga is also heading towards its climax. I would be glad if you continue reading till the end!

Can I have everyone’s attention please??

Thank you. Okay.

Today as we all know is a very special day.

We’re here witnessing the marriage of Emma Swan and Killian Jones, and I can hear a couple of you in the background saying “about bloody time” lol, well yeah. About time indeed.

Now we’ve all witnessed different parts of their journey; some have been there since the beanstalk, others got sucked in by their Neverland kiss- whether you’re a veteran or a relevantly new addition from s5 or 6, there was just something about these two dorks in love that drew us in and made us stay.

And today is the day we get to celebrate the unity of all those moments as we watch them finally start their happy beginning.

There’s been many moments that stick with us. Moments that will forever have an impact on our shipper lives.

A shared drink below deck, Killian showing up in New York, The Captain Swan movie, their surprise hug at the ice wall, their first date, their first I love you, their moving in, the proposals- the list goes on and on.

Whatever your top moments may be, they’ve all lead to this day.

Their wedding.

Now it hasn’t been an easy journey… there’s been denial, obstacles, secrets, trust issues, fights, and even death. But they’ve shown us again and again that these set backs only make them stronger, and in the end, true love is worth fighting for every single time.

it’s real. It’s hard work, it’s not always pretty, but when done correctly, can be the most beautiful reward life can offer.

But the most important thing they’ve shown us is hope.

If a lost girl; an orphan, who’s been dealt nothing but hurt, disappointment and abandonment… and a lost boy; a villain, a man who’s lost everyone- including himself to darkness…

If these two lost souls can find each other, and work together to find love, find happiness; that believe in each other and stand by each other to become the best versions of themselves- to become heroes…

It gives us hope that we too can find love and happiness.

So if you could all raise your glasses…

To the bride and groom

The princess and the pirate

The saviour and the survivor

To the heroes of Storybrooke

To the captain and the swan

To Emma and Killian

Why do you think it’s important to create more gender equity in children’s entertainment?

“I feel we’re training kids to have unconscious gender bias from the beginning by showing these profoundly unequal worlds where females take up a small part of the population. We’re showing kids that girls are less important and less valuable because there are so few of them in children’s entertainment. How are we ever going to get half of Congress to be women or half of our presidential candidates to be women if we don’t change that?

Will those improvements translate to movies made for adults and teenagers?

It certainly should be the case that movies with a female character should be made more and more. Enough with the proof that it works. We’ve had “Star Wars” with a female lead. There’s been hit after hit. Disney has proved without a shadow of a doubt that movies with a female lead work. Our research shows that in films in 2014 and 15 with a female lead character, had 16% more profit at the box office.”

Musical Screening Q&A

HUGE thanks to @jjosh-lyman / johnsfkennedys (twitter) for sending me her audio recording from the post-screening q&a. ** Please note: the first few minutes are missing and I transcribed this to the best of my abilities **

1. What’s it like working with Ginny?

Josh: It’s been… It’s been.. What has it been?

Ginny: Magical? (Audience laughs)

Josh: (laughs) It’s been magical.  No, it has, it’s been–

Ginny: The best thing that’s ever happened to you! (Audience laughs)

Josh: It’s been, it has been a magical situation. You’re working with another actor who knows you so well. You can be very vulnerable, you can be very open, you can be very brave, you can do all those kinds of things. So yeah, it’s a real gift.

Moderator: I’m feeling the feels, y’all, are you?

2. What is your favorite Disney character or movie?

Adam: This will sound phony, but it is Snow White. (Audience goes aw)

Ginny: Right answer again!

Adam: It’s true!

Josh: I’m really glad we came to you.

Adam: It was the first movie that I remember seeing as a child and it clearly made an impression.

Ginny: I really like Zootopia because of um– (Audience laughs - can’t hear the rest of her answer) An equally savvy answer would be that we’re very partial to Winnie the Pooh. Pooh was my very first boyfriend and Josh, here, read the entire first Winnie the Pooh book to my belly when I was pregnant with my eldest and that was the first movie that Oliver saw. Then we accidentally bought Sterling Holloway’s house and he was Winnie the Pooh (note: he was the voice actor), so that’s kind of a crazy story. So yeah, Pooh’s got a whole thing. There’s a whole three-line of Pooh in our lives.

Josh: Or we stalk him. (Audience laughs)

Moderator: How about you, David?

David: I am fond of Maleficent and the whole Sleeping Beauty thing.

Moderator: Eddy?

Eddy: I’m gonna go with Alice in Wonderland and just because I like it. (Audience laughs)

3. Back to the musical, even though the songs are new and original, do you take inspiration from the Disney characters the actors portray?

Adam: It’s more like we’ve taken inspiration from the way our actors have realized these characters on the show. You know, we use the disney movies and animated films as a jumping off point, but every one of them has made it their own. So when we started this process, they sat down with Alan and Michael and we really all tried to work together to tailor everything specifically to who these characters are on our show and those guys did an amazing job with the songs and these guys did alright singing them. (Audience laughs)

Eddy: The idea was each episode has the tone of the character so a Snow/Charming episode is different than a Rumple. I think Alan and Michael really captured kind of the character, they were fans of the show, and then the tone & inspiration for each one.

David: Also it was about returning to a S1 feel for all of these characters, which speaks to how we were introduced to them and what the actors brought to those characters, kinda going to really the heart of when we met them and putting it into song.

Moderator: Awesome. So deep. (Audience laughs)

4. For Josh & Ginny, if you could be any other character besides the one you play currently on OUAT, who would it be?

Josh: I’ve always said Rumplestiltskin for sure. Just because Bobby, the actor, gets to play such a huge range. I just think that would be a whole lot of fun.

Ginny: I would be Henry because I wouldn’t have to wear a wig and that would be the closest I would ever get to playing Harry Potter. (Audience laughs)

5. What’s your Disney favorite ride or attraction?

Ginny: Haunted Mansion.

Josh: Pirates.

Eddy: Pirates! Haunted Mansion too, it’s close.

Josh: I also like Indiana Jones.

Adam: It’s a tie between Pirates and Star Tours. There’s like 94 possibilities.

(Someone said Space Mountain - can’t tell who. Maybe David.)

Eddy: The Buena Vista Commissary. There’s a salad bar like right down Dopey Ave. (Audience laughs)

6. Which characters were the most exciting to create a song for?

Josh: (clears throat loudly) Answer honestly!

Alan & Michael (note: I can’t tell which is which): I mean, Zelena was… Yeah.

Josh: Alright, nice to see you (note: I assume he gets up halfway as a joke)

A&M: We had to test you there.

Eddy: It’s hard to say who.. It’s like your favorite child.

Ginny: Us obviously. (Audience laughs)

Eddy: I think, for us, it was really just exciting to do as many as we could. You know, I think we weren’t sure how many songs we could take on, we weren’t sure we could do any of it and, you know, literally these guys wrote 7 original songs and they started meeting in December so… if you have a birthday or anniversary coming up, Alan & Michael~

Moderator: Anything to add, David?

David: Nope. (Audience laughs)

I was about 5 when I had already realised that I was never going to marry a man, and wanted a wife instead. This was the mid-80s. There was nothing on television that adequately reflected how I saw my future. Then in 1984, when I was 7, along came a tv show called Kate & Allie, it featured two College friends who had drifted apart and re-connected after their divorces. They lived together with their three children in a New York City apartment.  Kate was the free spirited ex-hippie type, whilst Allie was the more straitlaced pearls and proper decorum type. Together they made an opposites attract kind of couple.

It was the only show at the time that even vaguely reflected the life I wanted. It was no surprise that the show built up a lesbian following, a sit-com with two attractive, competent, hilarious female leads, bringing up three children together.

I was devoted.

Until they seemed to get wind of how this was coming across to the audience, what followed was one of the most condescending 25 minutes of television I have ever watched.

They “addressed” the issue of any implied lesbianism by airing an episode that featured the protagonist’s landlady, a lesbian, saying that they would have to pay more rent as they were two families living in a one family apartment, unless they were actually one family, i.e. Kate & Allie were lesbians. What followed was a convoluted and patronising episode that concluded with the pair schooling their lesbian landlady on what constituted a family.

I never watched another episode.  Even at that age I understood the message they were sending me.

Cagney & Lacey was another favourite amongst lesbians, two badass women, who could hold their own in a macho environment that is the epitome of old school boy’s club. They were intelligent, tough, and still empathetic.  They were the kind of women I wanted to see around me.

But yet again, as the show carried on, it was deeply imparted to the audience how much Christine Cagney loved sex with men, and hardly an episode went by where there wasn’t a scene of Mary Beth and Harv kissing and more.

It was to remind us, these women might be playing in a man’s world, but they are still all about the dick.

Lucy Lawless, the incredible Xena: Warrior Princess, was very aware of the huge lesbian fanbase that the show had, in part due to the extensive volumes of fanfiction written about Xena and her bard sidekick Gabrielle. Lucy and co-star Renee O’Connor were deeply respectful of their fans, and giving them as much as they could with their on-screen interactions within the framework of the scripts. It was only as the show was ending that they were told that the characters were each other’s true loves. A point they addressed by saying that had they known earlier, they would have played the parts more explicitly loving, and would have made sure it had been more explicit to fans earlier in the show’s six year run. Their disappointment at not having known sooner was palpable and displayed a deep respect that they had for their LGBT audience.

Fast forward a few years, and in the post Beth Jordache era, we had Bad Girls, a UK women’s prison drama that featured straight Prison Governor, Helen Stewart, fall in love with one of her prisoners, Nikki Wade, it was a sweet story, and one of the few with a relatively decent ending. The actresses displayed grace and empathy when dealing with their fans, even appearing at a London pub after a Leicester Square movie premiere to sign autographs for a pub full of lesbian fans. I saw that it was possible for fans to be embraced and treasured, which to me made me feel like we had turned a corner from being scorned, ridiculed and patronised. We even had our own tv show, The L Word, which as flawed as it is, seemed like a massive step to media acceptance.

Post L Word, it is almost like we are being punished, almost every lesbian character on tv seems to either die or have an affair with a man(wtf?).

The past few years, scrolling through my tumblr feed is like a journey in joy and heartbreak. Watching the younger generations get excited over wlw characters, only to have to mourn the loss of them a short time later.

I never watch a tv series when it comes out now. I wait.

I wait to see where the arc is going. I wait to see how we are going to be treated by the cast and studio who make it. I have been burned a few too many times in the past, and only a couple of those many times have been recounted here.

These shows taught me from a very young age to pick and choose carefully what I watched, and that I could not rely on the mainstream media to cater to my needs.  This is where fanfiction, fanart and fantasy come in. We learned how to take the characters and make our own stories with them, the myriad websites dedicated to fanfiction/art are a testament to that, and to our resourcefulness as viewers. After all, amazing fanfiction is still being written about Seven of Nine and Captain Janeway, and Olivia Benson and Alex Cabot (to name just two ships), characters who haven’t shared screen time in many, many years. Our love for these characters and their chemistry is enduring.

What we deserve though, are fully realised relationships between characters on screen, not scraps, not looking for every nuance in interaction. We can still do it, we are very good at it, we have had decades of practice after all. It is probably something we will always do, it is almost as though it is in our genes to be able to see the unspoken tensions and subtleties.

But it is so nice to have shows where this isn’t necessary, where you can just relax and watch the relationship unfold, without having to work to find those precious moments.

This was why I have loved watching the gifs and screencaps of shows like Carmilla, Wynonna Earp, Grey’s Anatomy and Supergirl cross my dash.

Knowing that there are generations younger than me who haven’t had to be so patronised and condescended to by the media, but who are actually being catered to.

To see Chyler Leigh be so enthusiastic in her representation of Alex Danvers, and her deeply moving responses to stories of the fans. It made my heart soar to see this. So I thought I would be safe with Supergirl, I watched the first season and was drawn in, I was waiting eagerly to buy the second season on DVD when I saw the footage from SDCC 2017.

To some, I know it is easy to brush aside, to wait for it all to blow over. They don’t have the history of being invalidated and condescended to.

To me, what I was watching, was deliberate, and unnecessary and cruel. It reminded me of the popular kids at school bullying those who are already society’s outcasts and unwanted.

To say you are an ally and trot out your ally credentials, is meaningless if your behaviour speaks otherwise. To mention when you are apologising for your bad behaviour, how badly you are being treated and how unfair it is, is ridiculous. Take responsibility.

To me, the whole spectacle was sad and left me hurting for the younger viewers who were experiencing the same things I experienced so long ago, knowing that even if you find somewhere you think you belong, there will always be those who don’t want you there, who will make that space unsafe for you. There is a reason why the concept of safe spaces is so large in the LGBT community, it is because we don’t have many.

What I won’t do is put my time and money into a show that devalues me, or who employs people who do. (To be clear, I am not insisting that others do not watch the show, you do you, boo boo).

I was heartened by the reactions displayed by Katie McGrath and Odette Annable at SDCC, who along with Chyler Leigh and Floriana Lima have been amazing ambassadors for their characters (Odette excepting as we have not seen her screen time, but her displays of solidarity with Katie were invaluable as an LGBT viewer), and make me long for a spin off with these four cast members.

The show has been tainted for me, and I won’t watch it, not when there are other shows that are not treating their LGBT characters and viewers poorly, so Wynonna Earp and The Bold Type, here I come, please don’t let me down.

PSA - Go and see Wonder Woman!

Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman.
Now the world is ready for you,
and the wonders you can do.

Make a hawk a dove,
Stop a war with love,
Make a liar tell the truth.

Wonder Woman,
Get us out from under, Wonder Woman.
All our hopes are pinned upon you.
And the magic that you do.

See those corny ass lyrics (from the 1970s Wonder Woman TV show)? Patty Jenkins basically adapted Wonder Woman according to those principles, and she, quite miraculously, made a spectacular movie from them.

I just got back from seeing Wonder Woman and had to take a quick break from posting relentless Star Wars content to say that everyone should see this movie. It’s utterly fantastic and winning, and Gal Gadot is incredible as the lead - she’s badass, yes, but she’s also charmingly naive and stubbornly optimistic about the inherent goodness of mankind. It’s a message that could have come across as corny or maudlin in less capable hands, but Patty Jenkins directs the hell out of it. It’s a film that stands on the strength of small character moments rather than big bombastic fight scenes (though there’s plenty of spectacular action to enjoy here, with an epic walk through No Man’s Land being particularly memorable). You really love and care about the characters here, from the leads to the supporting players.

And the romance is absolutely beautifully handled. It develops slowly and naturally, and Chris Pine and Gal Gadot have wonderful chemistry. They’re funny and utterly charming together, and they sell you on every emotional beat. A slowdance in the snow is one of the highlights of the film.

Seriously, if Kathleen Kennedy isn’t launching an aggressive charm offensive to draw Patty Jenkins into the Lucasfilm fold at this very moment, she is seriously missing a trick. At this point, Patty Jenkins should be allowed to direct whatever the hell she wants with the budget she wants. After making Wonder Woman, it’s what she deserves. She made a wonder indeed.

A/N: You guys have no idea how much It means to me to hear that y’all like the first part. I’m blushing like a mad woman! haha lol Now, I’m going to try to post a part for this every Tuesday. Due an overwhelming amount of notes, here’s part two.

Song title credit: I hate u, I Love You by gnash.

He should’ve been here ten minutes ago… You thought. Every Friday night was your and Pietro’s movie night. It was one of your favorite nights of the week. You’d give him another ten minutes to arrive. It was unlikely he’d forget; it’s not like him to forget.

Another ten minutes go by, and Pietro doesn’t show. Sighing, you turn off the TV.

“Speedy didn’t show?” Glancing up, you see Tony standing there.

“Unfortunately” You voice faltering. “I don’t understand why he didn’t show up though. He always looked forward to our movie nights.”

“You didn’t hear?”

“Hear what?”

“Speedy has a date tonight with the stunning blonde from the party.” Tony stated, “Speedy clearly knows how to pick ‘em”

“Yeah, the stunning blonde is his girlfriend.” You mumbled. “I’m going to bed… Night.” you left the room before Tony could reply to you. Reaching your room, you launch yourself on to your bed. Hot, warm tears began to coat your face. You wasn’t dumb… you knew Raven had everything to do with him missing movie night. She was determined to get you out the picture, and it was working. Leaning over to the nightstand, you pulled out Penny.

If only he knew he was killing you slowly…

While in the training room, and out the corner of your eye, you see Raven saunter in with two other agents. ‘Oh great, here comes the onslaught of insults’ You thought.

“Hey Miss Piggy! Trying to lose weight?” Raven called. The three agents roared in laughter.

The second agent chimed in, “Even if she did, she’d still be ugly.”

“She’ll never be good enough for- OH MY GOD YOU’RE SUCH A FREAK!” The third agent yelled. At first you didn’t know why she yelled, but then you remembered you had a wonderful little chat with Penny this morning. Glancing down at your wrist, you see blood seeping out the wound. ‘Shit I thought the bleeding stopped’ you thought. You were completely horrified.

“What’s going on in here? The familiar voiced asked.

“Nothing Piet just stopping by to say hello to y/n.” Raven replied. Raven sauntered over to Pietro, and gave him a kiss. Standing there watching them together physically made you sick. You’d always fantasized about being in the situation that Raven was in. It was only make believe, and you knew you weren’t ever going to get what Raven has.

“If you say so” Pietro answered, “Say, we still on for a movie night?” ‘You don’t show up to OUR movie night so you plan a movie night with her?!’ you thought, clearly annoyed.

“Yes sir!” Raven smirked knowing I was watching. Her face only confirmed your thoughts from last night.

“I’ll see you later?”

“Yes, yes you will.” Raven kissed Pietro once more. Once Pietro walked out the room, and was far enough away, Raven looked back at me. “I don’t have to read your mind to know you figured out I was the reason why Pietro stood you up last night.”

“Yeah it wasn’t too hard to figure out” You stated. Grabbing your things, you headed for the door. You glanced over shoulder, and back at the three agents “Insults are the last resort of insecure people with a crumbling position trying to appear confident.”

You walked out the room feeling good about yourself. Now all you needed was a hot shower, and you’d feel better. When you approached the door to your room, you see the door cracked open. ‘Who could possibly be in my room?’ you thought. Opening the door further, you see Pietro sitting on the edge of your bed with something in his hands. ‘No, No, No… He knows.”

“Can I help you Pietro?” You asked.

“Why would I get a text message from Raven saying you’re hurting yourself and she concerned?”

‘Ha! If only he knew she wasn’t concerned about my well-being’ you thought. “Raven isn’t who you think she is Pietro.”

“Oh? Please enlighten me. I’d like to know who my girlfriend is.”

“Raven is a self-centered bitch who feels the need to bully me making me feel like complete utter shit to get me out the way so she can have you all to herself. I know, that she knows, I have a huge, massive crush on you.” You barked. You were finally getting it all out in the open. Never did you imagine that you’d be telling Pietro you liked him this way. “That movie night we were supposed to have last night? You know the one where you stood me up and left me waiting, yeah, she purposely planned your date knowing it was OUR night to bond.”

“You want to know why I didn’t show up… IT’S BECAUSE I DON’T LOVE YOU. I NEVER HAVE AND I NEVER WILL.” Pietro yelled, storming out the room.

You couldn’t believe him. How could he say something so cruel? ‘It’s for the best… After all, I’m just damaged’ you thought. ‘I’m just a loser asking for attention’ you couldn’t get the words out your head; they were etched in your mind.

“You want to know why I didn’t show up… IT’S BECAUSE I DON’T LOVE YOU. I NEVER HAVE AND I NEVER WILL!”

“I swear I’m going to kill him.” Natasha growled, holding you close. After Pietro yelled at you, Pietro stormed out your room. Natasha, being concerned as always, came to see what the yelling was all about. When Natasha came to your room, it broke her heart. She found you on the bathroom floor, in the fetal position, rocking back and forth.

“It’s the truth Nat! I’m not good enough. I’ll never be good enough not for him, not for anyone. I’m disgusting. I mean, look at me!” You wailed, pointing to your body, “I have all this extra weight on my body that I don’t know what to do with. And no matter how hard I try or no matter how hard I train, I can’t get rid of the weight.”

“Look at me ангел(angel)” Natasha paused, “you don’t have to lose weight to feel good about yourself.”

“No, but it sure would help.” You mumbled. Natasha sighed, got up and helped you off the floor. When she grabbed your wrist, you winced. ‘Shit, I hope Natasha didn’t see that’ you thought. Natasha did notice, and she made a mental note of it.

“What will it take for you to believe me?” Natasha asked.

“At this point… Nothing” You stared into Natasha’s eyes, “Tell me this, what do you do when the one who broke your heart is the only one who can mend it?”

Pietro’s a dick and Raven is a cunt so there’s that. Anyway, while I was writing this, I was struggling… like hard. So, if you have any ideas and or suggestions, please message me. It’ll make it easier for me to write parts!

Feysand Week - Movie Night

This is my first fic for Feysand Week, and the prompt is ‘Movie Night.“

I tried not to be nervous.

But, really, I had a reason to be. What if this man was a weirdo, or an axe murderer or a –

Okay, I was definitely reading too much into this. And I was sure Mor wouldn’t set me up with a weirdo or an axe murderer, and he was Mor’s cousin, and I had full trust in my friend to find someone for me.

But still.

And I felt a little desperate. I mean, who had to rely on their best friend to find someone for them? But at least I hadn’t outright asked. But I hadn’t said no when Mor had told me about… what was his name again? Rhys. That was it. He was apparently single, and I was single, and Mor was ridiculously in love with her new girlfriend and ‘didn’t want me to be left out.’

So that had left me here, waiting outside the movie theatre for a man I didn’t even know. And considering all I had been told about never going to meet a stranger, I was still here, doing just that.

I really hoped he wasn’t a murderer, because that would almost certainly make this the worst date ever. And I had had my fair share of bad dates.

I huddled into my jacket a little more, the night air chilly even though it was supposed to be summer. Rhys wasn’t late, I had just been early, as I knew I would talk myself out of it. I had been instructed by Mor to text her when Rhys arrived, so she could send me a picture of him so I knew it was actually her cousin instead of a creepy loner dude.

I had asked Mor why she didn’t just show me what he looked like before the actual date, but she had said she didn’t want to ‘ruin the surprise.’

“Feyre?” I heard a deep, male voice ask. I looked up -a little too quickly, and I was sure I must look like a deer in the headlights- to see the most beautiful man I was sure I had ever seen.

He was tall – well over 6 foot- and even in the darkness I could see that his eyes were so dark they almost looked… purple? I realised I was staring, and quickly looked at nose, which seemed a much better place – and a far less distracting one- than his eyes or mouth.

Well, I was certainly making a great first impression.

“What? Oh, uh, yeah. That’s me!” God, I was embarrassing. “Are you Rhys?”

“Yeah. Mor’s cousin.”

“Right. Just give me a sec.” I pulled my phone out of my bag and quickly sent a text to Mor. She replied straight away with a picture of her and the man in front of me, confirming that he was in fact Rhys. My date for the evening.

“You ready?” I asked, stupidly grateful that it was night time, and he couldn’t see me blush slightly. This was going to be a disaster.

“Oh, uh, yeah. What movie is it again?”

“I don’t know actually. I forgot to check what’s showing. Any preferences?”

“Anything that’s not horror.”

“What? You’re scared of horror films?” I couldn’t help but tease him a little. Horror films these days were most definitely not scary.

“I didn’t realise it was weird to be scared of movies with the word horror in it.”

“Look, I’m not saying it’s weird…” I told him as we made our way inside the movie theatre. I was absurdly grateful for the heat that hit me as we stepped through the doors. I had always loved this place, had always loved movies in general. There was something comforting in watching other people’s lives, other people’s stories. It was like I could leave myself for two hours, and become someone else, have a break from the real world.

“Yeah, sure. Whatever, Feyre darling.” Rhys said, though he was smiling. My heart unexpectedly fluttered at his use of darling.

Maybe I hadn’t made such a bad first impression after all.

“Holy shit.”

“They’re showing Roman Holiday!” I couldn’t help the slight squeal. But they were showing it. Here!

“Going to need a little more than that.”

I turned to face him. “Don’t tell me you’ve never seen it.”

Rhys just shrugged. “I’ve heard of it, I think… Is it about that woman who lives in New York?”

“You’re thinking of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Right actress though.” Okay, so maybe he wasn’t a complete lost cause. “They must be showing old movies here today or something.”

Rhys looked at me for a moment, something unreadable in his eyes, something I couldn’t work out. But then he looked away, and the moment was over. If you could even call it a moment.

Rhys was at the ticket booth now, his long legs making the walk faster. I quickly followed, though my legs were considerably shorter than his.

“Two tickets for ‘Roman Holiday’ please.” Rhys asked the employee.

“You don’t have to…” I said to him, even though I was getting more and more excited.

“Feyre. Is there any horror in this movie?”

I shook my head. “Still…”

“Then I will watch it. Besides, maybe I’ll love it.”

“I guarantee you will.” I said solemnly.

A smile tugged at his lips. “Then let’s watch Roman Holiday, Feyre darling.”

I smiled back. “Let’s.”

“I take it you enjoyed the movie then?”

Rhys hadn’t stopped talking about it since we had left the movie theatre.

The date had been… Well, it had been amazing.

We were one of the only few people who were watching it, and even though the lack of people probably should have made me shyer around Rhys, it hadn’t. Instead it had been comfortable, something I really wasn’t used to. We hadn’t talked when the lights turned off, and even though one of my favourite movies were on, I couldn’t seem to remember one bit of the plot.

I had been distracted by Rhys, who had been seemingly absorbed by the film. I could feel the heat radiating off him, and the fact that his arm was on the armrest so close to mine. I hoped that he hadn’t noticed, but about halfway through I had sneaked another glance at him.

To find him looking right back at me.

We had quickly looked away, but I couldn’t help but feel that there had been… a moment between us. And I didn’t know whether that was a good thing or not.

Rhys’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts. “I’ve gotta say, it was better than expected.”

I laughed. “So are you an Audrey Hepburn fan now?”

“I do believe I am.”

“I’ve got a box set of her movies at home. You could borrow them, if you want.” There was a hidden question in what I said. Will we be seeing each other again? Did I want to see Rhys again?

But I did know the answer to that.

Rhys nodded, and I didn’t know whether he saw what I really meant. “I would love that. Thank you.”

“Anytime.” We had stepped outside again, and I could already feel the bitter cold again. We walked in silence for a moment, though it wasn’t an awkward one.

And then Rhys said, “I was wondering… Do you want to do this again sometime?” He seemed nervous, and that just made me like him more.

“I would love to.”

And at the smile on Rhys’s face that followed, I knew for sure that this wasn’t a bad thing.

It wasn’t a bad thing at all.

10 Years Since the Last Japanese Film! First Time in History for a Japanese Manga Based Work! The Film FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST to be the Opening Film to the 30th Tokyo Int’l Film Festival!

The film Fullmetal Alchemist will have its formal world premiere as the opening film for the 30th Tokyo International Film Festival which begins on October 25th (Saturday)! [Not only will Fullmetal Alchemist be] the opening movie of the Tokyo International Film Festival, it will also be the first Japanese movie to open the festival in 10 years, and it’ll be the first opening film in history to be based on a Japanese manga.

The administration office of the Tokyo International Film Festival commented, “Fullmetal Alchemist is a work that allows Japanese film to face the world and extend a great opportunity. The manga and anime pop culture consists of a story and world of such high level of completion that until recently, it couldn’t be adapted into film. However, [the director and staff] made strong remarks and set out to create a film version with their own hands and show it to the world. And they were successful. We believe that this marks an enormous divergence point [from the norm.] We are proud that on this year, when we’re celebrating the 100th anniversary since the birth of Japanese animation, the movie Fullmetal Alchemist, Japan’s most powerful culture, will be screened as the opening movie for the Tokyo Film Festival, which welcomes its 30th year.”

On the other hand, Director Fumihiko Sori commented, “I’m very honored to have our film chosen as the opening work for the Tokyo International Film Festival. I’m hoping from the bottom of my heart that through this single, brand new work of Japanese film, Japan’s content power and its film quality can be felt within the country, while also extending its appeal to the foreign people.”

During the run of the film festival, Director Sori is also scheduled to take part in a special talk show called, “Master Class.” In the past, participants of this talk show include people like, Director Takeshi Kitano and Director John Woo among others. Everyone’s wondering just who’s class will be implemented this time.

I got a problem with Peters flashback

Ok but seriously. When Peter was having flashback and they showed Yondu teaching him to shoot that killed me. Yondu, like most “villain turned good” troupes, may have fucked up a lot of things in his life. And I mean a lot. But he was good guy at heart. He loved and cared for Peter and wanted to keep him safe. Honestly I’ve always loved the character. As a good guy and a rouge ravager. Marvel studious yet again give me a character to fall in love with and want to care for and protect and they rip them away from me. His send off was what made me the most emotional, the way Rocket gets surprised that the ravangers actually showed up. Peters speech. That one big guy emotionally calling him “old friend.” Yondu’s ashes turning into an arrow. God that movie was a masterpiece. Bless our space dad.

one of those days

Angst for @rengenano ❤️

It’s been one of those days.

One of those days thoughts of you trickle through the cracks.

I call into work.

I’d be no help to anyone today.

I don’t realize I’ve been crying until my pillow is wet.

My heart aches.

The blood it pumps through me is cold.

There’s no reason to leave the bed.

It smells like you.

I’ve washed the sheets so many times.

I threw away your pillow.

You’re still here.

I can still feel you behind me.

And hear you snore.

I can’t look in the mirror.

The freckles you traced with yours fingers.

The stars you claimed to see in my eyes.

I don’t worry about the smile you loved so much.

I haven’t seen that in months.

But the tattoo of your name below my collarbone.

It hurts more now than it did the day I got it.

The cat still looks for you.

I think I do too, even when I don’t realize it.

I can’t read today.

Or watch TV.

I can’t open my laptop.

There is nothing that doesn’t remind me of you.

I don’t dare touch myself.

Not anymore.

No matter how hard I try, I see your face when I come.

I see you, looking at me like you were memorizing my face.

Like YOU were the lucky one.

Like you loved me.

Oh, God, that’s what you said.

Over and over like a fucking mantra.

I love you.

I love you.

I love you.

And I believed you.

That’s the worst part.

Even now.

Eight months later.

There’s a part of me that only comes out on days like this.

It says you did.

It says you meant it each and every time.

But I don’t listen.

Because that part of me is a liar.

Just like you.

Years ago, it convinced me to let my guard down.

To be your friend.

To be more than your friend.

To let you into my heart when I was so adamant that you were going to break it.

And you did.

Millions of crystalline shards.

Like fiberglass.

Digging into my skin.

Under my eyelids.

Coating my throat.

Embedded in my lungs.

A constant, miserable, reminder of you.

And how I loved you.

God help me, I did.

Even when you ruined everything.

Not just our life together.

Not just the home we built.

But my favorite movie.

My favorite song.

My favorite part of the city.

Things I showed you.

Thing I shared with you.

But you left.

You FUCKING left.

And everything you touched.

Everything you saw.

Everything I shared with you.

Everything that made you smile.

I wish I could be mad.

I wish I could hate you.

And sometimes I tell myself I do.

But when I wake up from a nightmare, I reach for you in the dark.

But there’s nothing.

Just an empty space.

The size and shape of you.

One of many in this house.

I curl into a ball.

I try not to think about all the times you wrapped yourself around me, long limbs enveloping me completely.

I hurt everywhere.

I try not to think about how you would tirelessly massage any part of me with the slightest ache.

I close my eyes and wait for this to pass like it always did before.

But before was different.

Before, all I had to do was wait for you to come home.

You’d sit with me in the dark, running your cool fingers through my hair.

Down the nape of my neck.

Over any exposed skin.

You would assure me everything would be alright.

But it’s not.

Assure me that you’d be here.

Be with me.

But you’re not.

I take a picture of the cat.

Curled up where your pillow used to be.

I send it to you.

And get an error message.

Your phone, battery long dead, in the bottom drawer of the nightstand.

Exactly where it’s sat since the day of your funeral.

I hate these days.

Silence is her favorite sound,
from the way her eyes lit up
when the smooth air
follows her around.
She chooses
her friends carefully,
knowing them
even more personally,
for she doesn’t want
to get attached so easily.
Fairy tales taught her
that soulmates does exist,
not only on books
she used to read,
and on movies that made
her heart beats.
He is a man
who showed her
how a knight
in shining armor—
an extraordinary prince
on reality looks like.
None of them
can ever tell,
how time manage
to push them
on a single situation
at an unexpected place.
And from that
very first time
the moment
their souls met,
two universes
stunningly collide,
with the stars celebrating
as they sprinkle
tiny lights and
glittered across
the once gloomy
night sky.

More Than Friends // Evie

Summary- reader and evie became close when the vk’s got to auradon but evie wants to be more

Pairing- evie x reader

“Y/N!” Evie beamed as you walked into her dorm, holding an armful of snacks.

“Ready for our movie night?” You smiled at the girl who grabbed the goodies from you and brought you into her arms.

You chuckled at how she squeezed you close to her, “Eve, I just saw you this morning!” You began to pull away before she spoke.

“Wait, don’t pull away yet - I want to hug you awhile longer,” She mumbled into your shoulder.

Those words made the butterflies in your stomach go even crazier. You’d been crushing on the former VK since Jane asked you to show her around when she first got here.

After Evie reluctantly pulled away, you two moved to her bed where she immediately looped her arm in yours and rested her head on your shoulder. You shot her a confused look to which she simply said, “I need to be comfortable so I can get into the movie.”

Well you couldn’t argue with that.

You decided to do the same and get comfortable which meant laying your head on top of hers.

Evie began getting fidgety about halfway through the movie and it worried you.

“You okay?”

The blue haired girl sat up and paused the movie before speaking, “I-I need to tell you something and i’m not entirely sure how you’re going to take it.”

You furrowed your brow and reached for her hand, giving it a squeeze, “You can tell me anything, you know that right?”

“I want to be more than just friends with you. I want to kiss you and hold your hand whenever I want to and I want to be the reason you have a smile on your face and-”

You cut off her rambling by grabbing her face and putting your lips on hers. She started kissing back right away and you couldn’t have been happier. Evie placed her hands on your wrists to pull your hands from her face.

“Wow..” She breathed.

Giggling at her words, you looked down in attempt to hide your blush, but she wouldn’t let you. It was now her turn to cup your face in her hands as she grinned. “Stay the night?”

You nodded, “Of course,”

The rest of the night was filled with cuddling and movies, a perfect start to your relationship.

Imagine: The night after The Oscars with Evan Peters

The Oscars, what a high honor it was to be invited to something so extravagant. Having Evan on my arm, was always something for me to show off, how I managed to get my hands on someone so amazing, was beyond me. People snapped our pictures, and we hurried to the table we were seated at. I wore a sparkly, black, loose fishtail dress, that was backless, with a slit down my leg. He wore a brand new suit with a bow tie, he always had a hard time dressing up, it made him feel awkward. I gave his hand a squeeze from under the table, he looked at me and huffed. “We could have stayed home, watched cheap horror movies, and ate pizza, Y/N.” He said into my ear, “Only you would be complaining about being at The Oscars!!” I laughed. His hand found my bare leg, from the slit in the dress, and he rested it there. Oh, just a simple, show of affection immediately got me going. I put my hand over his, and held it there. He kissed the tip of my nose and drew his attention to what was going on, on stage. I paid attention to all the people who took this so seriously, some people not looking anything like themselves. I thought it was so odd. I placed my hand on his thigh now, wanting to see if I could tease him, and how much trouble I could get in after this. As I slowly moved my hand, closer and closer to the crotch of his pants, he whipped around and looked at me, his face turning red “What the fuck are you doing,” He whispered into my ear. I shrugged “No idea what you could mean!” I continued to tease him, as the show went on, the drunker I got, the worse I became. Evan, I could tell was getting flustered, but didn’t protest against my touch. He began to do it back, through the slit of dress, having an unfair advantage. His hands reaching all the way up, he teased the outside of my panties, while pretending to be paying attention to the stage, where Tom Hanks was giving some speech. I adjusted how I was sitting, making it easier for him to gain access to me. That’s when it stopped, and moved his hand back down my leg. I was disappointed and sighed loudly. He giggled, and looked back at me. He gently grabbed my neck and pulled me closer to his lips. “Keep teasing me, Y/N and you’ll see what happens.” After the night ended, we said goodbye to everyone, and went to the limo that was waiting to take us to our hotel. Evan was always a private, pervert. So, both acted cool in the limo, the minute that we entered our hotel room though, he slammed the door and shoved me into the wall by the door. The smell of alcohol strong, on his breath. He smashed his lips into mine, moving his tongue through my mouth, fighting for dominance against mine. His cold hands, sending goosebumps all over as he touched the skin on my back. He undid the zipper on the side of the dress, it fell to the ground at my heels. His hands hungerly exploring, my bare skin. I removed his tie, and slid his suit jacket off of him, leaving him in just the white button up shirt. He placed his hands on my ass, then reaching behind my thighs. He had me jump, and he held me up, I wrapped my legs around his waist, as he took me to the bed, and laid over me. As he kissed me, I undid the buttons of his shirt, slowly. He became impatient, and undid the rest himself, tossing it to the side of the side. We were both shirtless now, I was only in my panties, him still wearing his pants. His large hands, held onto my breasts, kneading his fingers into them, and squeezing his hands around them, he trailed kisses, down my lips, my chin, my jaw, my neck, my collarbones, the center of my chest, before taking one breast into his mouth, flicking his tongue over it. I let out sharp breaths with each one. He reached down the front of my panties, and rubbed my lips softly. I knew I had to be wetter than an ocean at this point, from building this up the whole night. He parted them, feeling my center, and moving his fingers over it. I tangled my fingers into his curls, arching my back. He slipped 2 fingers inside me slowly, bending his fingers, still rubbing my clit with the palm of his hand simultaneously. My breath catching, with each rapid stroke he made. I pushed my hips up towards him, and grabbed the buckle of his belt. He helped with his free hand, under his belt, the buckle jingled, as it fell to the side. He then under and unzipped his pants. Letting his hardness, show through his boxers. He adjusted the way he was laying, so that I could get at him. I rubbed his length, through the fabric, his breathing quickened. He switched which breast he was latched onto in a quick motion, going deeper with his fingers the more I teased him. I pulled him out of the boxers, revealing how hard he had became. I felt the pre cum on the tip, and smeared it over it with my thumb, and tickled my fingers down the shaft. I wrapped my hand around him tightly, and moved my wrist in a slow, but steady, cork screw motion. I pumped faster, and faster until he stopped me. He moved between my legs, parting them farther with his knees. I early, obliged, opening as far as they could go. He knelt over me, kissing my mouth, then my chin, my jaw, my chest, my stomach, biting me, and licking down with the kisses. He stopped at my panty line, he pulled them off Letting his fingers drag down my skin, his touch lingering. He spread my legs apart again, and positioned himself between them, he looked up at me, his intense, dark eyes gazing up at me. I felt part me with his fingers. He moved his tongue around my clit, making circles around it. He pressed his lips down over it, and sucked hard on it, slipping one finger inside me as he did. I arched my back, moaning loudly at the careful attention he took to every inch of my center, I felt myself nearing a climax, to which he stopped what he was doing immediately. He came back up to kiss me, biting at my lip. I breathed heavily, and he took no time to line himself up with my opening. He left himself there, and took a moment to look me over. “What are you doing?” I asked him with a laugh “I like to take in how beautiful you are, so I can remember nights like this forever.” He said in a soft voice. That’s when he inched his way inside of me, slowly, filling me, with every inch of himself. I adjusted to his size, as he stayed inside me for a few seconds, before slowly moving his hips, in and out of me. Feeling the wetness from myself, allover him, as he slid out. With evey pump, getting harder, faster. I tightened around him, locking my ankles on his back. He sucked at the skin of my neck in differrent spots, knowing it would leave a mess of marks on me. His movements became more messy, I could tell he was close. I reached my hand down and rubbed my clit, to get myself close to cumming too, so I could climax with him. He paid careful attention to what I was doing, slowing himself down, and them going faster when he could tell I was getting closer. Both of us moaning loudly, not caring who heard. And just like that at nearly the same time both of us hit our peak, he collapsed on top of me, catching his breath, keeping himself inside of me for a long time, until he finally rolled over, and pulled me onto his side, wrapping his arms around me. We both laid there, staring at the darkness above us, the sound of LA traffic in the background. I looked up at him, touching his neck and jaw line. Wanting to memorize every inch of his beautiful, Angel like face. He kissed my finger tips, when I moved them over his lips, and grabbed my hand. Resting it on his chest. Nothing else mattered in this moment except for him and me.

Mistake Two

Remus Lupin x Reader

When he left, it was difficult to put yourself back together. Hell, you had to find out about your pregnancy before you finally could. Time flied as you made it your mission to live for them. That’s right, them.

You were alone, heartbroken, and in desperate need for money. Lupin and yourself tended to live hand to mouth. The both of you moved frequently so that he could keep his secret hidden. Now, hopefully, it would be easier to get a stable job. Something that would allow you to raise two children.

The pregnancy was bumpy to say the least. Considering what had happened it wasn’t surprising. Other than that, everything went pretty well. The twins tended to have a craving for chocolate, which made you laugh.

The day Selena and Deimos was the happiest of your life. It was extraordinary how quickly they filled the hole Lupin had left behind. They seemed to have the better parts of their parents features. You felt your heart clench when you noticed their blue eyes.

He didn’t even know he was a father. You didn’t know where to look for him. That night you felt the extremes of happiness and sorrow.

Years passed as the children grew and learned. They were beautiful, wonderful. Just the thought of them made you happy. At first it had been stressful, but the routine was easy enough to get used to.

You realized they took more of their father’s traits than you had thought. They were eight when they had their separate instances of accidental magic. Soon after you sat them both down and explained about their father.

“So, daddy left us because he was scared?” Selena asked, her eyes looking at you full of questions.

“Well, duh,” Deimos rolled his eyes, “You’ve seen mommy’s scars. Imagine how bad that would have looked at first.”

“De, no need to be mean to your sister. I told the two of you this because I thought you could handle it,” you sighed.

“It’s kinda cool though,” Deimos smiled, “Dad being a wizard.”

“Don’t forget he’s a werewolf too!” Selena howled ‘too’ playfully, which Deimos joined in on.

“Wait! Does that mean we’re wizard werewolves too?” Deimos asked.

“That would have been a nasty shock for the doctor that delivered you two. It was a full moon when you were born. We’ve passed many full moons. So, you’re just wizards.”

“That’s a close one,” they said in unison.

You laughed, “Both of you okay?”

“Do you think dad loves us?” Deimos wondered.

“He doesn’t even know about us,” Selena took her turn for a jab.

“Stop it,” you chided your daughter, “He would adore the two of you. There’s nothing about either of you he wouldn’t like.”

“Can we meet him?” They asked, looking at you hopefully.

“Loves, I’ve tried. It’s just,” you rubbed your face, “Your father moves in order to hide his sickness. He’s a difficult person to track down. Being a werewolf in the wizard world isn’t an easy thing. There’s many laws against them. Your father is the smartest man I’ve ever met and he had to take jobs that were way below the standard he could work.”

“Do you have a picture of him?”

“Yeah,” you got up, “I think it’s in an album in the closet.”

As you went to look, the twins flanked you. They were eager to see the man that didn’t know about them. As young as they were, they could understand his fears and reasons for leaving.

“Here,” you showed them the picture. “Wizard pictures are funny. Kinda like a mini movie.”

Remus was shyly smiling before covering his face in embarrassment. The kids couldn’t tear their eyes away from their father.

“Look, he has my eyes!”

“Our eyes De!”

That day you explained to them that they had to be careful with their magic especially at school. Promises we made before they requested Remus’s picture to be put in a frame in their room.

Three years passed and they both received Hogwarts letters.

“Here, these came in for you today,” you handed both of them their letters, “Good luck.”

They frowned at the letters, confused.

“Nothing ever comes for us?”

“What’s Hogwarts?”

“Guess you two got lucky this time. Hogwarts is where your father went to, it’s a wizarding school.”

The children accepted your answer. Opening their letters, they read excitedly.

“I got accepted into Hogwarts,” Deimos told you.

“School starts September first,” Selena added.

“From what he told me about the school, you have to stay there throughout the school year. Are you two okay with that?” You bit your lip. Never had the three of you been separated, but this would be a good opportunity for them. They could practice magic and learn how to use it safely. The experience would let them learn more of themselves.

They shared a look before nodding at each other.

“It’ll be okay. You can visit right mama?” Selena asked, staring up at you.

“I’m not sure how things go at that school. We’ll figure it all out.”

“Selena and I will have each other. Nothing bad would happen. Besides, if anything, school is our strong point.”

You laughed, “You two are rather brilliant.”

The afternoon was spent talking about their new school. Just the things you could remember from what Remus would tell you about. Luckily enough, there was a letter to you, specifically about what you needed to do for the children.

The following day a witch came to visit, Professor McGonagall to be exact. She offered to take you and the children to Diagon Ally in order to get you situated in time. The three of you accepted happily.

De took considerably longer to get a wand. Selena was a quick one and done compared to her brother.

“Come on!” He sighed after the eleventh time, “We’re twins! Wouldn’t we just have the same one.”

“What’s the fun in that?” Ollivander asked as he made a new selection, “Besides, the wand chooses the wizard. Getting just any wand makes your chances of mastering magic very slim. Here, give this one a go.”

Deimos took the wand, “Please?” The plant that’s his fifth attempt had killed was now coming back to life. “It’s this one right?”

“Completely right for you,” Ollivander nodded, “Complete opposite from your sister too.”

Selena smiled, “And now you can be the fairy princess you always dreamed of being.”

“I’ve never!” He chased her throughout the store.

“Children, this behavior is not acceptable,” McGonagall scolded as you paid for the wands.

“You’re right,” Deimos smiled.

“We apologize Mr. Ollivander.”

“Top behavior at school, professor.”

“I can feel it in my bones. They’ll be a repeat of Remus Lupin. Brilliant with a knack for trouble.”

“You know our father?” They asked in unison, looking equally sad and happy.

“I…wasn’t aware Lupin had children.”

“Don’t worry. He isn’t either,” you responded, “He left, I found out about them a couple of weeks later.”

“Funnily enough, he was to take this house call. Before he was ill of course.”

“You mean we could have met him?”

“Wait, why would he make the house call?” Deimos asked.

“He’s a professor at the school. Lupin teaches Defense Against the Dark Arts.”

The kids looked afraid.

“Deimos, should we still go to this school?”

“Well, we just bought and owl, robes, and books. Odds are we’re going to this school.”

“But dad’s there…”

“All the more reason to go. We didn’t think we’d find him at all. Now he’s on a sliver platter.”

“Okay, you’re right. But we can’t tell him straight away.”

“Giving ourselves time to know one another would be good,” he agreed.

“What if he doesn’t like us?”

“Then we don’t tell him.”

They turned their attention to Professor McGonagall.

“Please, don’t tell our father who we are. We promise to get everything over with, but in our own time.”

Reluctantly, she agreed.
