there was another interview where he was like

anonymous asked:

Hey Linnea, I was wondering whether you could properly translate what Ruby says about Nissen and Tarjei in her interview at (www kk no) ? Google translate only makes a mess out of it :D Thanks so much, also for your help throughout the whole season <3

Hey!

Ruby is talking about how she changed from Nissen to another school.
I’m only translating the part where she also mentions Tarjei now:

“It’s been so unreal, and I’ve felt like I’ve lived a double life. Somehow it has been a fasade I’ve had, she says and adds: Like Tarjei who plays Isak for example, he really feels it, and has to put up his hood and headphones and walk straight to where he’s going, when walking down Karl Johans gate, if he doesn’t wish to talk to anybody. He can’t walk outside the door without people recognizing him”

Harry Styles: Singer Opens Up About Famous Flings, Honest New LP
One Direction's Harry Styles goes deep on love, family and his heartfelt new solo debut in our revealing feature.

January 2016. There’s a bench at the top of Primrose Hill, in London, that looks out over the skyline of the city. If you’d passed by it one winter night, you might have seen him sitting there. A lanky guy in a wool hat, overcoat and jogging pants, hands thrust deep into his pockets. Harry Styles had a lot on his mind. He had spent five years as the buoyant fan favorite in One Direction; now, an uncertain future stretched out in front of him. The band had announced an indefinite hiatus. The white noise of adulation was gone, replaced by the hushed sound of the city below.

The fame visited upon Harry Styles in his years with One D was a special kind of mania. With a self-effacing smile, a hint of darkness and the hair invariably described as “tousled,” he became a canvas onto which millions of fans pitched their hopes and dreams. Hell, when he pulled over to the side of the 101 freeway in L.A. and discreetly threw up, the spot became a fan shrine. It’s said the puke was even sold on eBay like pieces of the Berlin Wall. Paul McCartney has interviewed him. Then there was the unauthorized fan-fiction series featuring a punky, sexed-up version of “Harry Styles.” A billion readers followed his virtual exploits. (“Didn’t read it,” comments the nonfiction Styles, “but I hope he gets more than me.”)

But at the height of One D–mania, Styles took a step back. For many, 2016 was a year of lost musical heroes and a toxic new world order. For Styles, it was a search for a new identity that began on that bench overlooking London. What would a solo Harry Styles sound like? A plan came into focus. A song cycle about women and relationships. Ten songs. More of a rock sound. A bold single-color cover to match the working title: Pink. (He quotes the Clash’s Paul Simonon: “Pink is the only true rock & roll colour.”) Many of the details would change over the coming year – including the title, which would end up as Harry Styles – but one word stuck in his head.

NHL!Bitty, Part IX - ‘Loose Lips Sink Ships’

(Alright, you guys voted for #2, so enjoy!)

Eric gets hit on in a hotel bar during All-Star weekend. For the first time in a long time, it’s not because he’s a famous hockey player.

It would be very flattering, except the man trying to seduce him works for Jack’s PR firm, and bro is playing fast and loose with some seriously confidential information.

NHL!Bitty Masterpost!

It’s been a long, exhausting day. Between the flight, check-in, the press junket, the photo ops, all Eric wants is to get a little bit drunk with the guys, grab some dinner, and fool around in Jack’s hotel room. Hopefully in that order, but he’s open to fooling around whenever.

He must have a dopey smile on his face thinking about the debauchery he’s been looking forward to all week when he realizes someone is watching him from across the bar.

Tall, nice hair, professional, and he’s looking at Eric, no, at the empty chair next to him. And he’s walking over.

“Is this seat taken?”

Edit: Yuri wanted Beka to choose the song for him bc he followed Otabek to the club where he DJed that night (some rock club) (after FS?) altho Otabek didn’t want to take him bc he was underage

First they came for the Muslims, and Jared Kushner said nothing

Dear Jared,

We don’t know each other well, but we’ve met a few times so I figured I’d give this a go. I’m writing to implore you, as President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and a senior adviser, to oppose his immigration executive order. You are one of the few people who has the president’s ear and the power to stop him, or at least register your opposition.

Given your family’s history, part of you must be uncomfortable with this policy.

You’re the grandson of Holocaust survivors. You’ve defended President Trump against charges of anti-Semitism. Your own grandmother warned in an 1982 interview of the dangers of another leader like Hitler rising to power. “For the Jews, the doors were closed,” she said. “Even our good president, Roosevelt — how come he kept the doors so closed for us for such a long time?”

I’m asking you to show leadership at this dangerous moment when history threatens to repeat itself. Trump’s decision to restrict immigration from seven Muslims countries, including all refugees, is an affront to the U.S. Constitution. It goes against who we are as Jews.

As a journalist, I’ve traveled to war-torn Syria, where more than 450,000 Syrians have been killed and over 12 million displaced in the deadliest conflict of this century. I’ve visited refugee camps in Jordan, where 1.3 million refugees have resettled since the start of the civil war in 2011.

I’ve seen the toll of the refugee crisis first hand in countries like Greece. If you step onto the shores of the Greek island of Lesbos, you’ll never look at a refugee the same way again. I still see the haunting images of shivering children piling out of overcrowded dinghies, screaming mothers cradling newborns in their ams, innocent teenagers suffering in agony because they’ve lost their siblings in a bomb attack in Syria and elderly men and women with tears streaming down their faces because they know they will never return home again.

What I learned from being in these places is just how inaccurate media depictions of refugees are. It’s easy — and politically convenient — to paint them as dangerous ISIS sympathizers. But they are fleeing the very same terrorists that America is fighting. Look into their eyes and you’ll see people desperate to escape war and who will do anything to protect their families. They’re charming, funny, witty. They have big dreams of falling in love and making it big in America and Europe. Banning these refugees does not keep America safe. Despite all the blustery rhetoric, no refugee has carried out a major fatal terrorist attack in the United States.

If that doesn’t move you, then consider how similar Syrian refugees’ plight is to what Jewish people faced during the Holocaust. Then, as now, the majority of Americans were opposed to admitting a vulnerable population into the country over fears they posed a national security threat. Anti-Semitism was prevalent, just as Islamophobia is today; polls conducted from August 1940 to June 1945 show that Jews were regarded as the greatest “menace to this country.” Sound familiar?

In 1939, at the height of World War II, 61% of Americans said they opposed legislation that would have admitted 20,000 Jewish refugee children from Germany into the United States. Congress rejected the legislation and cut refugee migration by 75 percent. In one incident that has become emblematic of U.S. policy at the time, 900 Jewish refugees on the MS St. Louis were turned away from the United States because of immigration restrictions. More than 250 of those passengers were later killed after they were sent back to Nazi Germany.

That moment was a major stain on our history. No one would say today that turning away Jews was the right policy.

Yet today, a new Rasmussen poll shows that 57% of voters favor President Trump’s ban on immigrants from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen. Since 2011, slightly more than 18,000 Syrian refugees have been resettled in the U.S, but that’s nowhere close to many of our allies; Germany, for example, took in over 1 million asylum seekers in 2015 alone. Trump has placed a temporary ban on any Syrian refugees coming in and pledged to cut the total number who can be resettled in the future by more than half. Once again today, human lives are at stake. For them, this is a matter of life and death.

I know standing up to Trump is not easy, but doing the right thing takes courage. It’s far easier to score cheap points by demagoguing against Muslims. But being president is not about doing what’s popular or good for business. It’s about showing leadership, and doing what’s moral and just.

Just like you, I grew up hearing the oft-repeated mantra “never again” in my synagogue. Well, it’s happening again. So, I’m asking you to condemn this executive order. Think of your grandmother’s words and what would make her proud. Then use the clout you have to persuade Trump to repeal it.

The country needs you.

the situation on bts’ colorism in the japanese magazine

this is a long post, however i believe theres lots to understand on this subject that cannot be dismissed. i have two disclaimers: first, please read until the end before criticizing because when i say i made an effort to include all views i mean it. second, there will be hetero references in this since the interview was about their ideal girl.. i apologize n i dont mean to assume their sexuality or anything.

there are three main parts to this; 1) lets understand the whole picture, 2) be fair and 3) for those who were hurt by the “interview” and to those who want to dismiss them (this is not patronizing, i really fucking sympathize here)

lets understand the whole picture

to begin, I’m pretty much positive they didn’t actually interview bts for the magazine… rather, they drew on old interviews for the magazine… i don’t think the members were actually involved in any way with this magazine specifically. there a few posts about this and i’ll like them, but the best was by @jkguks. they showed how each exact response was recycled from an old interview. the post can be found here. comments have also been made that this magazine is known for such moves in the past and that their credibility isn’t so great. @allforbts pointed out here that the magazine didnt have a photoshoot – they reused pictures from other sources – which probably indicates they didn’t have an actual interview; however this isn’t real evidence. in my own personal opinion i dont trust the person who posted the translations on twitter. yes the translations are correct as far as we all know, but what i mean is… i think she knew the interview was old/reused. everyone that asked about the interview’s date received no response from her. she even made a comment about how many followers shes gained. if she cleared up that the interview was old or reused then this whole thing would die out n she’d stop getting followers. anyway i find it suspicious but i could also just be reading too far into it. the whole point of this is that at this point we can pretty much conclusively say that the interview is recycled n this is not something they said recently. this is not to devalue the weight of their words because it still hurt a lot of people. old or new, getting told your skin color is “unideal” is painful. however we do wanna look at this because we at least now know that their status of “since educated on colorism and racism and now pretty pc/sensitive” is not going to be revoked! they’ve since educated themselves, that is still the truth. this is just the ugly past come to rear its head.

on the other end of understanding the whole picture, i’m going to make a sorta controversial statement. hopefully in fully explaining it, you all will get the full idea… but for the sake of k-armys who are getting attacked by intl fans constantly and also for the sake of perspective – which may lessen the blow of their words for those hurt by them – i need to say this. the concept of colorism is alive and well in korea… it just isn’t the same as it is in the west. in the west – for the most part – we are more ethnically/racially diverse while korea is almost entirely racially/ethnically homogeneous. so how does this effect the meaning of colorism? well because one of the largest identifiable traits when looking at the differences between the world’s races n ethnicities is skin color, race/ethnicity will always be tied to skin color, especially in really diverse areas. in the west where we are consistently exposed to different races/ethnicities as part of our daily lives, a preference of skin color holds not only colorist implications but also racist implications. if some mayo dude said “i think darker skin is ugly on girls” we can safely assume hes a racist fuck on top of being colorist. however, since korea is homogenous, there isnt any real racist implications. let me elaborate: korea has issues with being racist against other poc, however in an interview discussing ideal types where the ideal type is already assumed to be at the very basis korean (or maybe another east asian ethnicity if you’re stretching it), the statement on skin color is directed at people of their shared race. so how is this less problematic? it is still problematic definitely – i’d like to make this clear – but in korea, the concept of skin color amongst koreans as a beauty standard isnt racially or ethnically motivated and therefore its more akin to saying “i prefer blue eyes over brown eyes on white girls” because they’re discussing a physical variance within their own race. in the end, it’s still colorist, but please try to understand that in korea the remarks arent as horrible. they still shouldn’t say that, and really, any discussion of skin color preferences is ugly, but it’s extremely important to be considerate of korean culture. intl fans forget constantly that we are guests to korean culture. if you were invited to someones house you wouldnt bust in there feeling entitled n doing whatever the fuck you want. you’d try and respect their rules and how they run their home. if you had a problem with something there, you’d politely ask them to accommodate you, explaining why that accommodation was necessary. you wouldnt fucking trash them for not having their house already equipped to your preference. thats incredibly selfish. this is the same way. you are guests to this culture, and while you shouldnt allow colorism to continue, this theme of entitlement amongst intl fans – especially when we have done very little to respect their culture; we demand they understand ours while continually paying theirs no regard – is really shamefully. i ask that people reading this do their best to be more considerate in the future. not everything is black n white… lots of things have grey area and we can afford to be more socially conscious. im pretty sure most k-fans have it about up to here dealing with koreaboos criticizing their culture…

be fair

this is a short statement but i need to remind you all that most of the members were problematic in that interview and if you are only trashing namjoon you need to fucking stop. you are allowed to offended, of course – i was pretty bothered too seeing how im the opposite to namjoons ideal in every way, my bias who i’d fucking die for – but if your whole focus is “namjoon this and namjoon that” than youre being a biased ass and im gonna need you to sit down. if youre going to be mad, by all means, be mad, but dont fucking pretend the other members said nothing wrong. im sick of people pretending every member but namjoon is perfect and unproblematic. present day he’s probably the most un-problematic member since educating himself on racial issues, feminism, n lgbtq rights, making himself an advocate for them all while idols remain silent…. hmm…. but keeping pushing that “problematic member” agenda sure. yeah lets pretend the facts dont exist ok

for those who were hurt by the “interview” and to those who want to dismiss them

fans who read through the interview n realized they kinda fit their bias’ ideal type – esp in terms of skin color – please don’t make comments on how people need to “get over this”. for many fans, especially non light skinned poc, this really hurt. not only as a “i don’t fit my bias’ ideal type” but also as a betrayal of trust. many non light skinned poc have experienced some type of discrimination for their skin color and many had their sense of self confidence fucked over for it. its not just a “you dont think darker skin is beautiful, aw :(” its more of a, “you are someone i love and support and the fact that you’d call my skin color less attractive – the skin color for which i’ve had to struggle to find my own confidence in – just like so many others, feels like betrayal”. its really hurtful. so don’t be dismissive. you don’t understand. this isnt your discussion, im sorry.

and lastly, to the fans who were hurt by the interview. im sorry boo. im sorry that the industry you support continues to hurt you. im sorry someone you decided to love and support made you feel like that. please remember that the ideal type is such a flimsy concept. they really dont mean anything. those questions were grossly specific n they were so unnecessary, but at the end of the day, they are still made up preferences. the boys wouldn’t find you unattractive for not meeting the bits on their checklist – fuck no. attraction just doesnt work like that. no one falls in love with the person that hit everything on their little “ideal type” checklist. honestly, if you asked me to describe my ideal type n i just listed shit off the top of my head, it probably wouldnt add up to namjoon…. but in every way namjoon perfect to me. im fucking whipped. this is the same. dont take their ideals to heart, dont feel like anything on you needs to change. you are exactly the way you need to be, and dont ever let some guys “ideal type” make you feel any less. n if anyone every tries to tell you that you’re failing to meet their beauty standards… fucking kick them. fcuk them seriously. dont let this shit effect your self confidence. gross comments like that dont deserve a thought in your head

Summary:

“What’s your ideal type?” Eric, one of the hosts of After School Club, asked Mark.

“Y/N,” he admitted. The other GOT7 members exchanged looks, and Eric laughed – but then his smile faltered when he realized Mark was serious.

“Wait, really? Y/N? You know the stories about her, right? What, are you looking for trouble or something?”

Now it was Mark’s turn to smile. “Definitely.”

Y/N’s POV

“Hey.

The voice was unfamiliar so you ignored it, still mostly passed out anyway from all the alcohol. But apparently, the person wasn’t going to take the hint because a moment later you felt a hand gently touching your shoulder. “Hey, wake up. You can’t sleep here, honey.”

“Wanna bet?” you murmured and turned over.

“Oh, let me handle this,” another voice, this one’s clipped tone all too familiar, snapped, and then someone was slapping your face and saying into your ear, “Get the hell up, kid, before I tell Jason to drag your ass out of here.” Jason, your bodyguard, who had actually forcibly carried you out of places many times before. This wasn’t an empty threat. You groaned and pried your eyes open, and your bleary gaze landed on the bottle of Jack beside you. Despite the awful taste in your mouth and the headache you were starting to feel, you snatched it up and took a swig as you sat up, tossing a slow grin at the two men standing before you with heavy disapproval. One was your manager, Kevin, and the other was…a preacher?

That’s when you noticed the morning light falling in colors through the stained-glass windows, the rows of wooden pews, the crucifix hanging above you…because you were sprawled out on the altar of a church sanctuary.

Wow. Wild night.

“What time is it?” you yawned, about to bring the bottle to your lips again but Kevin seized it from your hands, shooting you a look.

“Seven AM,” the preacher said. “I have to start getting ready for service, so if you could kindly—”

“Sure,” you nodded. “I’ll give a sermon. That’s basically just a rant about how we’re all going to hell, right? I love reminding people that they’re all damned.”

The preacher gaped at you and your grin widened, but then your manager caught you by the arm and yanked you roughly to your feet.

“Excuse us, Preacher,” he apologized and you winked as Kevin towed you down the aisle and out of the sanctuary. Your legs were a little wobbly – but after so many years of drinking, you’d built up a pretty strong tolerance for liquor, and considering how many shots you’d thrown back last night, you were impressed at your stability. Although your headache was starting to intensify now.

“So,” you swallowed against the pain as the two of you made your way out of the church, “what’s the plan for today? I vote for a day off – oh, I know this little breakfast place that has the best pancakes you’ve ever eaten—”

“You really think you deserve a break after your little stunt last week?” Kevin snapped.

Your face hardened at the memory. “Look, that photographer was a sleazy dick. He kept brushing his hands over Lucy when he thought no one was looking! That’s disgusting as it is, but she’s only sixteen! I would punch him again, given the chance.”

“No, you absolutely will not.” You reached the parking lot, and Kevin waited for you to get into the back of the car before sliding in behind you himself, as if making sure you didn’t run away. Jason nodded at you from behind the wheel. “Anyway,” Kevin said briskly as he gestured for Jason to start driving. “There’s been a change in your schedule.”

“I’m not doing another fan meet, if that’s what it is, unless you want my head to explode. Migraine,” you clarified at Kevin’s confusion. You had never minded those events.

He shook his head and handed you his phone as Jason pulled out of the lot. You glanced down at the screen and found a video waiting for you, an After School Club episode from a few days ago.

“What is this?” you asked and when you looked up, Kevin was grinning at you.

“Just hit play.” So you did.

Mark’s POV – A few hours later

Mark wrinkled his nose, trying not to sneeze as his makeup artist patted the concealer on his face into place, adding the finishing touches. Beside him, Jackson and Bambam were also trying and failing to remain still as their hair was carefully patted into place and their clothes smoothed. It was dark in the wings of the stage, but only a few feet away, bright light bore down on the talk show set. He could hear the chattering of the live audience and the cacophony of the tech crew getting things ready. They were going live in just a couple of minutes.

“You ready?” Jackson asked as he came over, picking a piece of lint off Mark’s shirt.

Mark rolled his shoulders and flashed Jackson his best aegyo smile. “Oh, yeah.” In reality, he was exhausted. They’d been on their feet for the last sixteen hours, running through airports, in the studio, doing last minute promos for their upcoming album. They were lucky they’d even managed to shove some food into themselves in between the chaos. Once this show was done, they could finally get some rest. Mark was already half-asleep behind his camera-ready smile.

People were getting into place now. The host, a loud and amicable man by the stage name of Alex, was settling into his armchair, and Mark took a final sip of water from the bottle he was holding, feeling the reflexive nerves tighten his stomach. At least this was only a short interview, and a laid back one at that. Alex was known to be pretty chill. It wasn’t like a variety show where they would have to do a lot. Just talk, and with Jackson and Bambam here with him, Mark wasn’t too worried about getting tongue-tied.

“Everyone ready?” the head cameraman called, but it was more of an order than a question. “We’re live in five, four, three, two…” He gave a thumbs up, and Alex’s face lit up as the cameras rolled. Here we go, Mark thought.

“Hi guys, welcome back to another episode of Afternoon With Alex,” Alex beamed into the camera. The crowd applauded, and Mark handed his water bottle to a passing PA, clapping Bambam on the shoulder as he came to stand with him and Jackson. “Today we have three members of a certain group you all know and love…you could say they usually ‘got 7’ members…” The three of them groaned but then immediately smiled as they were ushered onto the set, “Here they are – GOT7’s Jackson, Mark, and Bambam!”

They walked across the stage and waved to the crowd, bowing to Alex before taking a seat on the plush sofa resting opposite his armchair, Jackson sitting between Bambam and Mark. The set was nice – small and spacious, giving it more of a living room feel than a stage.

“Hi boys, how are you?” Alex turned his thousand-watt smile on them. At their chorus of ‘Good’ he continued, “So, you have a new album in the works, correct?”

More promotions, Mark swallowed a sigh and sat back, letting his friends do all the talking.

He’d contented himself to dreaming about his bed, and it was only when Jackson nudged his shoulder that he snapped back to attention.

“Mark hyung is the only one,” Bambam said in response to some question Alex had asked.

“I’m the only…what?” he laughed to cover up his embarrassment for zoning out.

“The only one who might have plans for Valentine’s day,” Bambam finished with a naughty smile. Valentine’s Day? Why—

Oh wow. That was today. That’s what the vase of roses on the coffee table next to them was for. And the pink balloons hovering behind them. And their red outfits. In the midst of everything, Mark had forgotten all about the holiday.

“They’re just kidding,” he shook his head with a laugh. “There’s no one in my life right now.”

Alex raised a brow mischievously. “That’s not what I heard.”

Oh boy.

“You mentioned in an After School Club episode that your ideal type is Y/N,” Alex prompted.

Ah, there it was. It was Valentine’s Day, after all, and what decent host wasn’t going to bring up a hot topic like celebrity romance? “I did,” he smiled bashfully, picturing her. Y/N. An idol among idols. Her face was on thousands of websites and billboards, on posters and in magazines, and yet the image of her that came to mind and made him warm was completely different.

“That was a good episode,” a voice said from behind, and Mark felt the blood drain from his face as he and the members jerked their heads around to see—

Y/N. In the flesh. Standing half-hidden in the wings of the stage. At the sudden attention on her, she grinned and walked onto the set as the audience went wild. Bambam clapped a hand over his mouth, Jackson was in hysterics, and Mark…

Mark couldn’t seem to get his heart to restart.

The three of them watched as she bowed to Alex before coming over to the sofa, and Jackson half-knocked Bambam onto the floor in his hurry to make room for her. Laughing, Y/N settled in between Jackson and Mark. There wasn’t much space, so her bare thigh was pressed flush against his – and that was another thing. As part of her image, she was almost always dressed in all black, usually jeans and leather, but today she was in a red dress and tight denim jacket. And Mark was not unmoved.

“So, unless you’ve been living under a rock,” Alex addressed the audience, “you’ll know that this lovely young lady is none other than Y/L/N Y/N, the main rapper and vocalist of the popular girl group, 7/11.” Another cheer from the crowd, and Alex turned back to her. “Thank you for joining us today, Y/N.”

“How could I not?” she said with a sly look at Mark. He could feel his face burning as he ducked his head. Well…he was wide awake now. He’d figured there was a chance she would see the ASC video, but he’d never imagined this would be the result.

“Yeah, tell us about your reaction to finding out that you’re Mark’s type.”

Y/N nodded. “I called Jia, one of our other members, and I was like, ‘Jia-yah, there’s this cute boy who likes me!’”

Cute. Mark could feel Jackson looking at him smugly but all he could focus on was her. She’d called him cute.

“And what did Jia say?” Bambam asked eagerly.

“She told me to stop drunk-dialing her.” They all laughed at this, and Mark couldn’t help but marvel at her. This was the same girl who was as famous for her temper as her charm. Not a month went by where she wasn’t the front page of some tabloid, busted for a new bar brawl or gambling or getting wasted in public. The media called her a catastrophe, but man, did she clean up nice.

Alex was having a great time either way, apparently. “What’s your ideal type then?” he asked her. “We already know Mark’s. Jackson likes healthy girls, and Bambam likes a girl with a pretty smile. What do you look for, Y/N?”

“Oh, a heartbeat, usually.” She shrugged, pleased at their second round of laughter. “I don’t know, really. I don’t think I’m girlfriend material, so I don’t give it a lot of thought. And c’mon, which parents are going to approve of me for their son?”

“Aw, you’re not a bad person,” Jackson said, and she shot him an amused look.

“I didn’t say I was bad. I’m just not good. There’s a difference.” Mark watched her carefully cool expression with intrigue.

“I’m sure that’s true,” Alex said quickly, clearly hoping to regain control of the conversation before they crossed into controversial territory. Teenagers loved Y/N’s rebellious, screw-the-rules attitude, but their parents were less than happy to patronize her and her group’s music. “Anyway, I was hoping we could end our show with a little Valentine’s day game.”

Dammit. Mark plastered a smile on his face to hide his apprehension. A game? Not only was he going to have to do something most likely embarrassing, but he would have to do it in front of Y/N. “You all remember the Kiss The Radio event GOT7 did in 2016, yes? The one where the members put on lipstick and kissed Bambam?”

Mark felt his stomach drop. Where was Alex going with this? They nodded, and he continued. “Right. I was thinking we could do something similar – the GOT7 members will put on some lipstick again but instead of Bambam, they’ll give Y/N a kiss and one of these roses,” he gestures to the vase. “And then she’ll consider of all of you and choose one member to be her valentine.”

Before Mark could die of horror and excitement, Y/N raised her hand. “I have a suggestion,” she said, and Alex nodded in encouragement. “Since the boys have already done this, why don’t we switch it up a bit? I’ll give them a kiss and a flower, and they can decide amongst themselves who will be my valentine. Maybe rock, paper, scissors or something,” she chuckled.

“Oh, I like it!” he clapped, and Mark felt a fluttering in his stomach. To be kissed by Y/N…

The four of them stood up as she began to prepare. She was handed a tube of liptstick from a PA, and as she walked over to the camera to use its reflection as a mirror, Jackson elbowed Mark playfully. “I should take a leaf out of your book and tell girls I like them during interviews,” he smirked.

When Y/N was done, smacking her lips at the excited audience, she came back and plucked three roses from the vase, one pink, one red, and one white. That’s when I Like You stared playing in the background, and after pausing to sniff the flowers, she turned to the boys with a gleam in her eyes.

It was time to begin.

The GOT7 members lined up at the center of the stage, and Y/N made her way casually to Bambam first.

“Hi Bambam,” she dimpled, holding the roses behind her back. She looked like a shy schoolgirl.

“Hey,” he tried to say coolly, but he just sounded flustered. With an affectionate smile, she offered him the white rose and he accepted it, grinning nervously. But there was an uncharacteristic softness in Y/N’s eyes as she touched his face, and it seemed to put him at ease as she pulled him down to place a kiss on his forehead. Bambam looked like he didn’t know whether to laugh or cry after she let him go, and she chuckled.

When Y/N stepped towards Jackson, however, her entire demeanor shifted. Mark watched with fascination – and something else – as she tilted her head back and stared up at him from beneath hooded eyes, a lazy smile on her face as she playfully dangled the pink rose in front of him. Jackson took the rose with a squeal – which was abruptly cut off when Y/N tore her jacket off, threw it on the ground, and yanked Jackson into her arms before pecking him on the cheek. When she released him, he collapsed dramatically on the ground in a heap, earning a laugh from the audience.

And then it was Mark’s turn. His heart pounded behind his ribcage as she moved into his bubble of space. Somehow, up close, she was even lovelier, and Mark fought the urge to brush her hair back and hold her close until whatever rage was driving her reckless behavior faded. Instead, he just beamed down at her as she shyly held out the red rose. His eyes never left hers as he took it, and then her hands, surprisingly cool for the hot weather, were on his face. Gentle, she was so gentle, as if she was afraid she would break him. Y/N stretched up on her tiptoes, and for the briefest second that also felt like an eternity, her lips hovered over his.

And then she moved higher to kiss his nose.

The audience might have been cheering, but Mark couldn’t hear over the ringing in his ears as she drew away. Unlike him, Y/N didn’t look flustered or excited or affected at all. She just looked…exhausted. But the smile never left her face.

Before Jackson, Bambam, or Alex could say anything, Mark hesitantly reached for her hand, and she gave it with surprise.

“Y/N…” he tried not to sound like a nervous twelve-year-old, “will you be my valentine?”

She looked at him, really looked at him, and then with the most heartbreaking smile, she said, “Yes.” But it wasn’t her smile or her answer that broke his heart – it was her eyes.

Because her eyes were saying no.

A/N: So this was supposed to be a completely different oneshot, but my brain kept screaming, Make it longer, you heathen!! BUT I’m not sure if this was a good idea, so if you guys don’t like it or it doesn’t get any notes, I’ll delete it and just write the oneshot :)

UPDATE: Part 2 posted [here]!

Alright I’m about to go off about Twincer:

SPOILERS FOR 7X18

Spencer was acting SO weird this episode that even my mom is convinced that it was not actually Spencer. I’m not sure if every scene was “twincer”, but the scene with Toby was VERY sus:

- One of the biggest things for me was that Toby said something along the lines of “That doesn’t sound like the Spencer I know.”

- The way she kept talking about feeling like an outcast from her friends and family. (this is a pretty loose clue, but it would make sense for a secret twin to feel left out)

- Keegan Allen (Toby) said in an interview back in April that he can “honestly say there is not another Spoby kiss.”

- Twincer theories always point out that the scene where Spencer asks Toby for one last goodbye kiss seemed like a twin because of how ooc it was and her outfit matched an outfit she wore just a couple episodes before. During this episode, of course THAT was the scene that Spencer talked about to Toby with. I don’t think we’ve ever heard Spencer talk about kissing him that time to anybody else and now she said it to the only person who would remember it.

- Jessica was having an affair with Peter and Mary tried to get revenge on Jessica by sleeping with Peter when he thought it was actually Jessica. What if the twin just pulled the same thing? It would make sense in a twisted way, “like mother like daughter” I guess yikes.

- When Spencer was walking away from Mary in the last episode (7x17), we heard a noise (similar to a branch snapping) in the background and Spencer stopped and listened. Could this have been the twin? It just seems weird that they would make Spencer focus on that sound and have suspicious music playing if nothing came out of it. (this is another loose clue)

ALRIGHT that’s all I have from tonight’s episode. Whether she actually has some secret twin or not, they better at least explain why she’s acting so weird. We still haven’t heard anything about the Wren airport scene either. If she doesn’t have a twin then I’m just pretending she did to explain her ooc behavior this season lmao

Tom Hollander: “Here I was sitting by the seaside with Hugh Laurie, who is one of the most entertaining people you will ever meet in your life, and Olivia Coleman, Tom Hiddleston, Elizabeth Debicki… It was paradise. Until we went swimming ! And, I -cause I’m a gentleman- lent Elizabeth Debicki my goggles, which I’d brought to Majorca because I knew about the jellyfish problem. But she didn’t have any so: ‘You must have mine Elizabeth’, so she wore them and I swam into all the jellyfish… And I don’t know if you’ve ever been stung by a jellyfish but it’s really, really painful… Guess who peed on me ? Tom Hiddleston. He saw this, he is heroic and you know, sort of ‘Bond’ like… Out of the corner of my eye, someone sharp strokes cutting through the water, Hiddleston had seen I was in trouble, he came out to me. I was standing on a rock immerged just in a few feet of water and he went: ‘It’s alright, stand back, I know what to do.’ He went ‘Where is it?’ ‘Here, it’s all here !- and ah it’s all really warm now…’

Tom had done what he needed to do, which was to pull his dick out, and to piss all over me. And I’m sorry to say, it doesn’t actually work.

what are ur fav sugamon moments

bless you for asking this seriously

(this is gonna be a long one)

ahhhh i love them so much and i know many ppl kind of gloss over their cute moments together bc they don’t do skinship as overtly on camera as the other members but it’s there if you know to look :’)

(i’ll do 10 or else i’ll be going on for hours)

1. i have to start with that emotional and meaningful hug they shared in MAMA 2016 bc how can i not?

it was just such an important and significant moment for both of them, ship them or not, you can’t deny that it was so heartfelt and showed how close they are :’) they’ve been through so much together and for them to make it here after so much hardship and struggle is so amazing for them both, it was a lovely moment overall for them and i never fail to tear up when i see it :)

2. this entire bangtan bomb bc they’re so adorable and i love the way they were trying to imitate each other’s rap style and just teasing each other

and then ofc them performing together is always amazing and i love it ;;

also it’s dumb but i get a kick out of namjoon calling yoongi chingu instead of hyung bc i love it when namjoon uses informal with yoongi since i strongly suspect namjoon and hoseok forgo polite form with him usually since they’re all close (hoseok does it more on camera but namjoon has slipped up here and there)

3. who can ever forget that one time yoongi was so excited and adorable when namjoon was performing and he kept pointing out namjoon and going “namjoon-ah” ;; my heart

look at that adorable smile on his face, he’s literally so happy and proud of namjoon

jimin even pointed out that yoongi was being uncharacteristically excited and bouncy watching the performance :)))

4. literally the entire episode 4 of bon voyage. sugamon being paired together and working together to go on a tiny adventure in a different country and basically having a great time bc they work really well together

them fixing themselves up together and complimenting each other casually like the actual domestic husbands that they are

(can i just say that namjoon put on his sunglasses bc yoongi was putting hairspray on and he didn’t have to do that, he could’ve just waited or told yoongi to go behind him so he wouldn’t get hairspray on his face but he just casually accommodated yoongi nbd ;;;; my heart x)

5. that whole backstage mission where namjoon had to take a selca with yoongi without alerting him that it was his mission and he FAILED lmao bc yoongi knows namjoon too well

poor namjoon, he was so happy bc he got such an easy mission with his own group member

thank god for this mission bc the selca was adorable :)))

6. i live for all moments of namjoon and yoongi calling each other cute

namjoon giggling at how cutely yoongi jumped to the center during 21st century girls (x)

and him jumping around during another part in the same song (x)

namjoon even called yoongi a saint which yoongi very smoothly ignored like he always does with compliments but i can’t get over it (x)

7. this is a small thing but it says a lot about their relationship: yoongi fixing up things that namjoon breaks and just taking care of him

it was said in interviews, it was even a way for them to introduce themselves

namjoon was the destruction king and yoongi was the one that fixed what namjoon broke

like that time in bon voyage where namjoon knocked over some tubes on their dorm room table and yoongi immediately starting fixing them (x)

or in the ynwa preview show where namjoon got up and his mic was hanging out of his pocket and yoongi noticed and picked it up for him (x)

and even recently when namjoon looked confused about putting on his headphones and yoongi immediately went to help (x)

just little things like that :)

8. gifts!! yoongi buying namjoon a wallet when he lost his and then getting all embarrassed and shy when namjoon talked about it happily during an interview

(he even lost it again and yoongi didn’t look upset when he mentioned it)

and then ofc that ring during their summer in dubai and namjoon saying he’ll wear it often

and namjoon actually wearing the ring in concept pics, fancams, concert pics, etc ^^

9. this doesn’t have any specific video or anything but they’re constantly teasing each other? and it’s really cute?? and it’s so casual and witty that it kinda flows by you until you go “wait what? did he just say something about yoongi/namjoon?” i love their adorable bantering comments at each other

like namjoon insisting yoongi’s on the same level dancing as him but he just gets away with it or yoongi’s “i agree” when namjoon said he’s the worst singer of bts in the recent gayo episode

John Watson, James Sholto, and The Blanched Soldier

I haven’t been able to find any metas written about this, but TSOT was so long ago that perhaps parts of this have been discussed already. I read The Case-book of Sherlock Holmes recently, and since S4 appears to be all about the Case-book stories, it seems appropriate to write something on this one now. This story wasn’t at all what I expected it to be, even knowing Sherlock inside and out.

The Blanched Soldier is one of only two Sherlock Holmes stories that Holmes narrates himself:

“Speaking of my old friend and biographer, I would take this opportunity to remark that if I burden myself with a companion in my various little inquiries it is not done out of sentiment or caprice, but it is that Watson has some remarkable characteristics of his own to which in his modesty he has given small attention amid his exaggerated estimates of my own performances. A confederate who foresees your conclusions and course of action is always dangerous, but one to whom each development comes as a perpetual surprise, and to whom the future is always a closed book, is indeed an ideal helpmate.“

But of course, the bulk of this story is not about Holmes and Watson at all; it’s about two soldiers with a very close relationship.

“We formed a friendship–the sort of friendship which can only be made when one lives the same life and shares the same joys and sorrows.“

… 91-year old spoilers and more under the cut.

“Shawn, I am going to ask you one last time if what this girl is saying is true.” Andrew said through gritted teeth.

“Just leave it, Andrew. No one is going to believe her.”

“Oh, really? Because TMZ is offering her three thousand dollars for a freaking interview!” Andrew said losing his calm. “Do you realize that you are not on a place where you can afford another mistake, Shawn for God’s sake!”

“What do you want me say? That I did have a relationship with her? Because I didn’t.” Shawn told Andrew, growing tired of the conversation.

“Then why is she working so hard on trashing your name?! You can’t lie to me, Shawn. If you want me to fix this…”

“I never asked you to fix this.” Shawn said and completely regretted after he noticed Andrew had lost all the patience he had left.

“Lose the attitude, you’re acting like a diva.”

“Sorry.” Shawn muttered.

“Now you’re going to tell me who this girl is and why is she doing this.”

Shawn sighed. “I used to sleep with her, okay? I was falling for her but she was just playing with me, so forgive me if I don’t wanna talk about her.”

“Did you give her a reason to do this?”

“Maybe I said some things that weren’t very nice, but she totally deserved them.” Shawn defended himself.

“Can you give her a call? I don’t think your fans are believing what she says, but media is having a field day and she’s feeding them.”

Shawn was silent for a moment before answering: “I’ll give it a try.”

flyy0ufools  asked:

I found a video of Jared during his 8 minute solo interview at sdcc 2011, where he says he liked season 4 because "I married the costar. Uh, I married the guest star." Seriously. Now I'm thinking that might have been a real slip, and maybe he liked s4 so much because that's when he and Jensen had a... ceremony...? What do you think?

Hello, dear Anna!

It’s not the only time Jared lets it slip that he married his co-star. ;)

Here’s the part of the interview that you’re talking about. He does do a pretty nice job at fixing it.

(27:31) Here’s another interview where he said “I married my co-star”, but this time there’s no fix. I doubt he even realised his mistake.

There is talk and past drops that supports that Jared and Jensen went through a commitment ceremony in late 2008 or early 2009 (here’s an interesting read) and that’s when they were filming season 4.

I think what you speculate is legit and there’s support for your theory! I could definitely see why they would love season 4 - Jensen even moved in with Jared sometime in the autumn of 2008.

Thank you for the ask, I loved it! Doing a bit of research gives me life. I hope you have a splendid Sunday - take it easy and relax. :)

Theory time! - Levi's cravat

To preface - I just got all of the Attack on Titan volumes up to the current one and DAMN it’s nice to not have to be online to read them. :)

ANYWAY!

During my rereading of the official translation, I noticed something interesting that I think indicates something important about Levi’s character that I don’t think I’ve read yet from anyone else.  Remember this in Chapter 51?

In case you don’t remember, it’s when Levi finds out from Hange that Titans were previously human.  Cue guilt and Erwin creepy smile (man, him and Armin have the creepy smile game on LOCK, BTW).

However, in every chapter since, Levi’s been missing something that we all associate with his character, his visual cue, if you will -

His cravat.  Yeah, I understand that at this point in the story, they’re on the run and haven’t worn their uniforms and such, but I feel like this little detail is actually pretty important. As momtaku has mentioned in previous posts and her readthroughs (which are great, btw), Levi is fairly horrified that what he’s been doing up until now (to paint in broad strokes) is killing humans, and is starting to lose it.  From what we’ve learned in later chapters with the appearance of Kenny and learning more about his past with the underground, this is what I’m thinking -

Levi and Kenny clearly don’t get along, and they lived together for a while.  Kenny raised him, to an extent, and Levi’s accustomed to squalor.

Once Levi joined up with the Survey Corps, he found a way out.  Keeping in consideration some of the information we’ve gleaned from character interviews and tidbits (like why he holds his teacups in his particular way), I think Levi’s preference for his cravat is another way for him to give an appearance of being more well off than what he actually is/was AND a way to signify a new beginning for him, where he isn’t learning how to stalk and kill people - in essence, “using his powers for good”.

Once he realizes Titans were/are humans, I think he realized at that point he’s no better than Kenny, and everything he’s done to change things for himself have been for nothing - to paraphrase Kill Bill, he’s not a worker bee, he’s “a renegade killer bee”, and everything he’s done to “disguise” himself is pointless, because nothing in the world can change his Ackerman heritage.  As he tells the 104th -

He’s pretty uniquely qualified to deal with Titans and killers.  Like Erwin and Armin, because of what he knows now, he (and Mikasa, once he tells her about their shared heritage) knows what he has to do now and has “discarded” that part of himself to fight monsters.  Hell -

In summation, I think at this point, Levi is probably being the most honest with himself that he’s been in a long while.  Whether or not he puts it back on once everyone starts donning their uniforms again remains to be seen, and if he does, that raises interesting questions, as well.  Either way, I love Levi, and I get why people don’t understand certain aspects of his character, or broadly characterize him in broad strokes for fanfic purposes and such (I ONLY LOVE CRAVATS AND CLEANING kind of stuff), but I think that’s probably because I’m also “abnormal…probably because I’ve seen far too many abnormal things”.  I feel like that makes it easier for me to understand his headspace and some of his decisions (like his behavior towards Historia or using odd, long winded non sequiturs to explain himself).

Thoughts?

I know this gon get me some hate...

So I usually don’t speak on these things on my blog, but I figured I would give it a shot.

So I watched the movie “Dear White People” after this whole controversy hit the internet. I wanted to see if it was actually as racist as everyone claims it to be.

And, to be honest, I was decently surprised.

I think the Netflix trailer does the movie a great disservice in terms of how nuanced of a movie it actually is.

It manages, with decent accuracy, to discuss the following issues about the black experience well:

• Internalized racism
• Racism and the issue of “power & privilege” vs. discrimination based on skin color
• Homophobia within the black community and in general (Tyler James Williams has an interview on this where he speaks about this issue)
• What is means to be “black”

And while the movie wasn’t perfect, it also wasn’t as blatantly racism as I originally thought it would be. It wasn’t a 2 hour “guilt-trip” for white people like I thought it would be.

One thing I thought the movie did very well was address the fact that when it comes to race issues, black people aren’t a melting pot.

We don’t agree on everything concerning race and we often find ourselves at odds with one another within our community. I know this is kind of a “duh” type of thing, but one thing I’ve seen happen a lot in discussions of race is individuals speaking for the entire community when we are a group of unique people with different views and opinions.

Anyways, that’s about it! I’d love to hear your thoughts on this whole thing :).

Barbie (Chapter 3)

Chris Pine X Reader.

Summary:   The things you want are not always easy to get. Obstacles arise, Silly fights. Old flames and unfortunately even your own thoughts at times.  Even with all the happiness it still leaves the question: ‘How can two people who are perfect for each other be so fucked when it comes to being together?’

Warnings: Cursing.

Chapter 1. Chapter 2. Chapter three. Chapter four. Chapter five.  Chapter six. Chapter seven.

You turn on the stairwell to face Chris who’s standing just a few steps below you, his chest rising and following with each breath he takes.

“I’m pretty sure there’s a cop that lives in this building.” You say loudly.

Chris takes a step forward. “We need to stop fighting.”

“You need to start talking but we both aren’t going to get the things we want.” You say matching his tone of annoyance as you turn back around, continuing up the stairs.

“What do you want to know?” he asks as you reach the door.

“Nothing now. We’re not together.” You say in a playful tone.

Length: 3069+ words

TW: Mentions of torture

A/N: This is the last oneshot before my sequel, and it’s an important one! I’m going to be splitting it into 2 parts because it’s literally 6048 words. You can pretty much read my oneshots of this series as its own. You don’t need to read the whole series to understand them~

“Hey, Sam. Can you take a look at this?” Y/N asked, stepping into his room. He motioned for her to sit beside him on his bed. She jumped in, handing him her laptop.

“What’s up?”

“I think it’s a shapeshifter,” she explained, pointing to the article on the screen.

The youngest Winchester skimmed through it, nodding his head. “It does seem like that. In Michigan? Isn’t that where…” He trailed off, seeing the answers on her face.

“I keep tabs on them from time to time.” Y/N shrugged, downplaying the fact that she reads the newspaper of her family’s hometown, and her sister’s university to make sure nothing supernatural was happening in the area.

Sam nodded, understanding without her having to say anything more. “Alright. I’ll tell Dean, and we can check it out.” He gave her back the laptop, and got up, stretching his legs.

“Okay. I’ll start packing my bags.” She also got up, following him into the hallway.

He stopped in his tracks, making her bump into his back. “What? Why?”

“What do you mean why? I’m coming with you guys.”

“No, you’re not,” Sam said as if it was the most obvious answer.

“But-”

“Y/N, I don’t think you understand. Even if I say yes, Dean will never- and I mean never agree to you coming with us on a hunt.”

She huffed, frowning a bit. “Well, can you at least help me convince him? We can get him to agree if we try together.”

Sam chuckled, shaking his head. “You can try, but I don’t think you’ll succeed.”

She frowned, stubbornly stomping towards Dean’s room.

The hazel-eyed man could only laugh even more, his shaggy hair shaking as he shook his head, and followed her to his brother’s room.

Y/N knocked on his door, hearing his response before opening the door.

“Hey, Y/N. What’s up?” Dean asked from the edge of his bed. He stopped cleaning his gun, putting it on his bedside table.

“I found a shifter case in Michigan, and-”

“Michigan?” Dean raised his eyebrow, glancing at his younger brother for confirmation, and he nodded. “Yea, we can definitely check it out.”

“Yea, Sam already said that, but I wanna come.”

Dean’s face hardened. “No.”

“Oh, please, Dean?” she begged. “I promise I’ll be good. You can just leave me in the motel while you do the hunt or something- I won’t do anything dangerous. I promise!”

He shook his head. “Nope. End of discussion. You’re not coming with us.”

“Dean,” Sam started. “Y/N’s been in the bunker for a few months now, and the farthest place she’s gone is the grocery store for a supply run. She can’t live like this for the rest of her life- you’re going to have to let her out. Plus, we’ve taught her basic self-defense skills- she knows how to handle a gun, and a knife. Maybe it’s time we take her on her first hunt.”

“Hunt?!” the oldest Winchester bellowed. “We are not letting her hunt. Ever. She can go out whenever and wherever she wants- when she’s with one of us, and the destination is not a hunt.”

Sam frowned. “Dean, listen to yourself. You’re basically keeping her captive here.”

Dean stood up to face his brother. “That’s enough.”

“You’re starting to sound like-”

“Shut up, Sam.”

“Please, Dean?” Y/N said quietly, standing in between the brothers, and putting a hand on his arm. “Just one trip?”

He huffed, looking between her puppy-dog eyes, and his brother’s own version. Rolling his eyes, he nodded. “Fine. You can come, but you stay in the motel, you hear? You’re not leaving without one of us.”

She squealed in delight, jumping up and down while still clutching to her laptop. “Thank you, Dean! Thank you!” Y/N gave him a quick hug before running to her room to pack.

“You know I’m right,” Sam told his brother. “You can’t keep her holed up in here forever.”

Dean could on grunt in response.

“Plus, all the recent victims are college girls. She’s probably really concerned about her sister.”

“Go pack, Sammy. We’ll leave in an hour.”

The three got their bags packed. Sam had came into Y/N’s room after he was done packing to help her pack some essentials. Since this was her first hunt, he wanted her to be ready. The pair met Dean in the garage, making their way to Michigan.

“This is the 4th girl taken in the last two weeks,” Y/N told the brothers. “They were all last seen on campus, none of them ever making it home.”

“Once, we get to the motel, Y/N you stay there, and Sam and I’ll check out the campus- see if we can talk to friends of the vics.”

“I was thinking,” Y/N said slowly. “Since they’re targeting college girls, I could play bait?”

Okay so first time submitting here so here we go:

I’m the general manager at a froyoz yogurt shop. We recently hired this one girl and omg!!!! So when we first told her to come in for an interview, she did, but took so long getting the paperwork back to us. She kept giving is different “excuses.” I only say it like that because I can’t validate any of them. But first is was the flu, then a stomach virus, then a car accedent. But my then district Manger REALLY wanted her for her personality so we had he back for another interview. The 1st and 2nd interview were a month apart, btw. And she’s only 16 years old. So we eventually get her working and I told her all the ropes: that we have a GroupMe where we all communicate cause not all of us has a fb, I also added her to our group chart that day and how to request off days and all that jazz. So yeasterday she was scheduled for a night shift which she never showed up for…. I get a call from my shift leader 30min after she was supposed to start to tell me she’s a no show. So we both call and text her. Nothing for a good hour. Then the texts me back and was all “I never got a schedule.” Like????? What????? You clearly got a schedule. So I reminded her that we, ya know, have a GroupMe. And she was like, “oh I didn’t know that’s where everything was posted. I’m sorry. I do remember you sending me a invite to it but I don’t use that app so I didn’t join.” What even??? Like I specifically told you all this info and you just disregard it. Like how are you gonna know everything, girl?? And she never mentioned yeasterday that she WASN’T coming in that night. And my shift leader texts me after his shift and this fucking girl never showed up at all. So he had to close the entire store my himself :/

No Payne No Gain

Last year LIAM PAYNE had a conversation with Justin Bieber. He doesn’t usually do this sort of thing. There’s a shop Liam frequents in Los Angeles. Whenever he sees one of Will Smith’s kids or a Kardashian he feels too self-conscious to introduce himself. “There’s still that little boy inside of me,” he says. With Bieber, it was different.

Like each of the select bands who go through their boy-to-man rite of passage in full public glare, Liam at 23 is a disarming mix of confidence, knowledge and conviviality wrapped up in a frightened canary let out of its cage. Sometimes he’s the boy at the bus stop. Sometimes drops in reflexive anecdotes about his dealings with Donald Trump. No one understands Bieber’s experiences with quite the same clarity on quite the same timeframe as Liam and his four One Direction buddies.

“Obviously [Bieber]’s struggled a lot through the way the world looked upon him,” Liam says. “I don’t feel sorry for him,” he continues, “he’s great guy, inside there’s a really good heart. I said, look, the difference between me and you is that I had four different boys going through the same thing to look to. He didn’t have that.” Quite out of character, Liam Payne reached out a hand to his peer. “I said to him, listen, take my number and any time you want to have a chat, let me know because I’m here and I understand exactly what you’re going through and I understand your world.”

It was a lovely thing to do. “He needs somebody like that and in that position,” he qualifies, placing himself deferentially into the third person. It’s sweet for other reasons, too. In Bieber there is something of the idiosyncratic otherworldliness of a Michael Jackson figure. Liam Payne, a pretty, straight talking lad from Wolverhampton appears at first not to be that thing at all. “There is that in all of us.” he avers, meaning not only Bieber but his fellow One Direction alumnus Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson. “We all have this chaotic side to us. You know, they say that anger breeds passion. I think that’s the same with a lot of us, that we let things get chaotic very quickly. We’re used to chaos.”

Liam is sitting in a quiet antechamber above the photo studio where today’s cover story has been shot. He says he likes interviews and honours the assurance in a quietly riveting half hour before he’s whisked magically away. It’s Friday evening. Liam has been working out with millennial precision to make sure he’s at top physical condition should he be required to lose his shirt during the shoot. He’s whippet slight flesh, definition counts.

Six years ago, One Direction came third on the national TV talent show, the X Factor. 1D was an assembly-line operation pieced together audition stages. Boys that barely knew one another, slotted seamlessly together in the kind of multi-demographic hit their boss Simon CowelI so adept at plugging into the national grid each year. That year, Liam and his bandmates Niall and Louis looked like they’d been schooled at a premium boyband academy. Each sported variants of Bieber’s early slideover haircut. It was easy to imagine any of them taking a stool in Westlife or learning to breakdance for Take That, had they been born in another time and place. Within the trio there was a safe place in which teenage girls and boys could measure their sexuality, whilst tapping their toes. That wheel still turned. Flanked at either edge of the three were genuinely new angles for the British boyband model; Harry Styles, Cheshire’s own reality-age Mick Jagger and Zayn Malik, a practising Muslim from Bradford and nonpareil physical work of art to whom supermodels have since flocked. The five together hit enough familiarity and newness to open up a global fame haul not touched since the heady days of Duran Duran, Culture Club and Wham back in the 80s. During the summer of their astronomical American takeover there was a plausible touch of Beatle-mania. They felt like an England football team winning the World Cup. Their records have sold in North Korea.

Liam and the boys were the first band to taste that fame level in the age of social media, making their story simultaneously that of the boys next door and untouchable messiahs. There was something refreshingly undone about them. Their best songs, ‘What Makes You Beautiful’, ‘Little Things’, ‘Steal My Girl’, even the precociously titled ‘Best Song Ever’ are undeniable additions to the Great British pop cannon. Liam says the 1D song that he’d buy above all others is 'Once In A Lifetime’, the little known track from their 2014 album, Four. “That’s my favourite song. Very Coldplay-esque. I wanted it to be a single but they just wouldn’t have it. It was very relaxed the way we chose our records and made things. It was really simple.” Someone else did it.

When 1D lost their X Factor trophy to semi-hot handyman Matt Cardie and were beaten to the silver medal podium by classy Scouse songbird Rebecca Ferguson, Liam was 16. He had auditioned for the show previously, at 14, as a kind of minipops Michael Bublé, Wolverhampton’s hitherto unseen swing angle. On his first induction to the X Factor factory, he was instructed by producers to go home and rethink his shtick as the last 24 were whittled down on TV. He says it attuned him to the hard knocks of rejection. Such was the omnipotence of the show back then Liam’s audition storyline was enough to grant him a local working men’s club career where he honed his skill and paid his dues.

“I did pubs and clubs.” he says. “When I was a kid, I literally played old people’s homes.” His one taste of what was to come arrived when the Wolverhampton Wanderers FC invited Liam to sing before kick-off at the Manchester United fixture to 34,000 fans in the terraces. In honour of his local team’s squad colours he sang Sam Sparro’s 'Black and Gold’. “It’s funny that that’s where we ended up, playing stadiums,” he says, with pleasing air of pride and bemusement. “It was funny being stood in the middle again and thinking back on that 16 year old boy stood in the middle of a football pitch. My dad said to me, this is going to be the toughest gig you’re ever going to play. Football fans do not want to hear little boy singing. They’re not interested. You heard jeering from the crowd. But I got applause at the end. And my dad said, that is the best thing you could’ve got out of today.”

Liam says he can’t remember much of his time in the X Factor house second time around bar the tears. He was recently delighted to see fellow housemate Page Richardson, the contestant Louis Walsh immortalised as looking 'like a little Lenny Henry’ on account of nothing but his colour, in a Harry Potter film (“the one where it’s Dumbledore’s army. He’s actually in the army, which is amazing. I’m absolutely obsessed with Harry Potter. Fucking love Harry Potter.”). He nods as I mention some of the other names he shared his first home away from Wolverhampton with. Katie Waissel, Diva Fever, Wagner. “There were a lot of different strange characters and lovely people through that show. It was very rushed and strange.”

On account of a childhood kidney condition, he had not even been drunk by the time he left home, Dick Whittington style, to live in a shared London house with a bunch of strangers maniacally chasing their fame dream in real time. “The famous line my dad said was. don’t come home until Christmas, meaning don’t get thrown off it before the final. And after I said goodbye to him that day. I never really went home again.”

When 1D lost, Liam turned to his dad with a “we made it this far” face. His fellow band-mates. he says, were in pieces. He remembers first Harry, then Louis, Niall and Zayn bursting into tears. “A cameraman came over and said 'can I get you boys for an interview?’ and I looked at all the boys crying, in their mum’s arms and I was like, 'look, I’ll do the interview’ because I was the only one who was alright and so I went off to side and did the after-camera interview for us. I just left them because I wanted them to have their moment and the cameras didn’t need to see them like that. There was a real atmosphere. This followed throughout our career a lot of the time.”

In Cowell’s dressing room later than same evening, 1D were told that they would be signed to his label, Syco regardless of their position on the show. “Simon took us up to his dressing room to tell us he was to sign us and Harry literally burst into tears he was so happy.” Emotions run high in boyband land. “He told us. I’m going to sign you. That was the moment. That’s where it all began.” The wheels of the juggernaut had begun to turn. “It was like a bomb went off”, he notes.

There was a pearl of wisdom shared by Cowell that stuck with Liam from that high-stakes evening. “The first thing he said to us after signing us from X Factor was 'look, there are no angels here.’ Which is so true.” What does Liam think Cowell meant by that? “That we’re all people. We all people here.” He doesn’t think it was an invocation of mistrust in music industry, the smoke and mirrors world of real life fame? “No, no, no. It was a moment in a conversation. He said 'look, there are no angels here and I know that you’re all going to make mistakes’. That’s what he was saying. Just get on with what the show is, do your bit. do your business, go to work and be real. That’s what that comment meant. Don’t stress about it, it’ll all turn out alright in the end.”

In that moment, it sounds like Liam Payne made a pact with himself go for it regardless, at the top tier, to claim his moment. “Everyone strives to be the person that they want to be.” he says. “I try too much sometimes, I think. I overstep the mark a little bit sometimes. That’s why I’m such a perfectionist. But sometimes I think you have to believe that are no angels.” The first One Direction single, 'What Makes You Beautiful’ was released in 2011, on September 11th.

The second half of 2016 was an eventful time for Liam Payne, presaged by his signing a solo record deal with Sinatra’s old imprint Capitol Records on July 21st.

While in 1D, he says all five boys dabbled on their own material. Because boybands never break up anymore, 1D are officially on sabbatical. Whether that translates as a bit of genial respite or full scale hatred for one another is a matter that’s been carefully blended into their tale with just enough leaks of a hint to either. Zayn, who had already fled 1D’s nest a year earlier, missing their victory lap worldwide stadium tour released his solo album Mind of Mine last spring, reinventing himself as the Frank Ocean for Unilad readers. Niall played to his Irish card with a forgettable busker-ish ballad for the Christmas market very much carved from the mould of Ed Sheeran and seasonal John Lewis adverts. From the snippet of it we heard. Liam’s song sounded like his ascent to manhood, touting him as a moody, roustabout lover-man in something of Drake’s lineage, complete with street lyrical touches (while writing, a picture appears on Liam’s Instagram feed of him with the Canadian don though it’s not specified whether he’s working or partying with his hero)

Whenever Liam talks about the 1D boys he has the exact same dad-ish air of concern, care, amazement and slight separation from the operation that Daddy Barlow has with Take That. Oh, that’s the other thing Liam had kicked off the year with a new belle, The X Factor’s Queen of Our Hearts, Cheryl Tweedy.

Liam brings up Cheryl, of course he does. The two live in Surrey, out of the city. When I make a joke about him being Lord of the Manor, he says that his sister bought him a plaque to denote his Lordship for his last birthday, a joke that doubled when it turned out Cheryl had been bought a similar gift by Simon Cowell during her tenure on X Factor. “So we’re Lord and Lady, which is hilarious.” To British suburbia, this is of course precisely what they represent, a self-selected aristocracy in which we’ve all played a part in the honours system.

He says things with Cheryl are working out well, becoming temporarily misty-eyed. “This is the thing. In a non-cliché way, it’s weird waking up every day and literally living out your dream. You wake up in the most beautiful places. Obviously I have the most beautiful girlfriend if the whole world and she’s absolutely amazing. She’s been my drean girl since I was younger. She’s so ace.” They are used to companionship. They have Liam’s dog, Watson, a Great Dane. “If I’m ever having a problem or I ever get a bit angsty about something that’s happening in life then I take the dog out for a walk and there’s just unconditional love from him. Anyway, I don’t want to go too much into that. I’m not like a weird dog person.”

“She is a wonderful, wonderful person and it’s amazing to have someone who can relate to so much of things, someone who’s taken greater steps than me. Her solo career was amazing. She’s been in the industry for fourteen years now. She fully supports me. We’re super happy. I appreciate you didn’t ask about it. It’s a very personal, precious time for us. I’m still learning. I’m only 23.”

Because he is the youngest of three, Liam inherited the bed that his big sister’s had slept in at home in Wolverhampton. He tried to paint a wall blue to put his own stamp on the room, still shaded by bunny rabbit curtains into his teenage years, and ran out of paint before finishing. “It was a total tip.” he says of the last bedroom he lived in before fame. “That bed was so old. The last time I went back and sat on it I couldn’t believe it was the bed I used to sleep on. I often think about how I used to sit on the windowsill and just look at the stars and wonder what this was all for. And I often used to think, there must be more to life than this.”

I ask if his parents kept the room the same as when he left. “Well,” he says, interrupting the nostalgia with a little sharp reality, “I bought my parents a house so I haven’t actually been back to that room in a long time. I’d like to.” The experiences of 1D made five men very rich, very young.

Liam knows exactly his financial worth. “I do,” he says, letting out a nervous laugh. I ask if I would blush if I saw his bank account. 'Honestly, it is a very scary thought.’ he says. “It is not something that we were given it’s something we worked our asses off for. The way we went to work every day and the way we travelled the world and the way we conducted our business, with great management at the time and greater minds, it turned out great for everybody. But it was a long five years.”

On the last night of the last 1D tour, management presented all four remaining members with a plaque festooned with little badges for every single gig they’d played since their first. “It was a sombre night.” says Payne, who has started becoming more emotionally transparent in front of other people this last year. “To see every show we’ve ever done on a plaque?” he says, raising eyes to the sky. “Again, everybody was in tears. And I’m quite good at holding it together but I have got a lot worse of late. Adverts and things mate me cry. I think I’m getting more emotional as time goes by, especially with everything that’s happening in my life at the moment. It’s a very emotional time and time to reflect on a lot of things and the person that I am to be. Do you know what I mean? If that makes sense?” It makes perfect sense.

Beneath the extraordinary life he has lived so far, outweighing every one of his personal, societal and geographic expectations, there’s a deeply admirable humility and candour to Liam Payne. On the subject of his forthcoming record: “l’ll tell you the truth. The dream was to be able to get signed and release an album. That is every musician who’s on Youtube’s dream today. I’ve got the opportunity to work with a really great label, Capitol. The people I work with are absolutely amazing and to get a record deal and be able to release the album that I want to release is the most amazing thing ever.” He has no idea how it will fare. “Even if this went tits up, sideways, it’d still be step one that I got here.”

Liam Payne never voted in a general election. “I’ve never been able to vote,” he explains, “because we’ve always been in different countries and I’ve never really understood it. I still feel like a 16 year old boy when it comes down to things like that and I wouldn’t know which way to go.” He steered clear of the EU referendum (“I kind of knew that we were going to Brexit. It was just a gambler’s feeling”) and doesn’t know how his parents voted in it.

Do you want to know his Donald Trump tale? Of course you do. 'Oh. here’s a story,“ he says, rubbing his hands. “Trump actually kicked us out of his hotel once.” It gets better. “You wouldn’t believe it. It was about [meeting] his daughter. He phoned up our manager and we were asleep. He said 'well, wake them up’ and I was like 'no’ and then he wouldn’t let us use the underground garage. Obviously in New York we can’t really go outside. New York is ruthless for us. So he was like, 'OK. then I don’t want you in my hotel’. So we had to leave.”

He’s seen a lot of life, has Liam. That he retains himself amid it’s spectacular credit to those around him and the man himself. “Now he’s President,” he says, perhaps for a moment reflecting on the opportunities life affords the most unusual candidates. “I just hope he doesn’t kick me out the country.” He’s laughing now. “I hope he lets me stay.”
