there really isn't a character that everyone hates that i don't hate

  • I think everyone has a right to like and dislike characters, as a writer I sympathize with like everyone so it's hard for me to dislike a character so passionately.
  • I've just seen so much Scalia/Malia hate, more Malia hate than anything, and I'm trying to figure out why that is.
  • When Malia was introduced I was impartial, when Stalia happened I was like hell no, and I didn't like Malia for the simple fact that she was barely given screen time before heading into a romance with a main character in the most delusional/unhealthy (from a writer's standpoint aka mine). I saw the #AntiMalia posts and all I could think was I don't like her but that's way too far. They really don't have anything better to do with their time?
  • When season 5 came along and Malia actually got real serious development instead of being a comic relief I took notice. I appreciated what she was going through, I connected with her character. After her Tracey and Theo car ride moment I knew that I really liked this character and that there was no reason to hold the writer's piss poor job of her entry and relationship with Stiles against her.
  • I may be one of the only people on this world that didn't ship Scallison and Scira. Scallison was wayyyyyy too rushed. The first episode? Come on dude. I didn't get a choice if I wanted to see those two together the show said these two are going to be together, here you go, figure it out along the way. Scira was better for me because they had time to develop a friendship before but I have so many issues with Scira.
  • So I've never really successfully shipped anyone with Scott, which made me kinda sad over the seasons, it was always Stiles I was shipping people with. I DO NOT SHIP MALEO.
  • Once I realized how much I loved Scott and Malia as characters on their own without being romantically linked to anybody else I was more okay with the idea of them getting together. At first, like a lot of people I was weirded out because of Stiles BUT STILES DID THE SAME THING WITH LYDIA SO THERE SHOULDN'T BE A DOUBLE STANDARD.
  • By the rules of the show, which I don't recommend going off of lol, Scott and Malia can totally get together because we've seen it happen without any drama with Stydia. HONESTLY WHY PEOPLE ARE SHOCKED BY THIS IS A MYSTERY TO ME LIKE HAVE YOU NOT SEEN A SINGLE EPISODE OF ANY TEEN DRAMA WHERE THEY ALL DATE EACH OTHER MULTIPLE TIMES?!
  • I digress, my point is that most you only hate the idea of Scalia because of three reasons. You hate Malia for reasons people don't like to share. Saying you hate because there's something about her is a BULLSHIT argument. If you can't give episodes or specific details why look at yourself and ask why are you being malicious. Or you ship Scira. I get it. I would be salty too. BUT WE ALL KNOW KIRA ISN'T COMING BACK. STOP USING KIRA AS AN EXCUSE FOR YOUR HATE FOR THE SHIP. ARDEN MADE THE GOODBYE VIDEO LAST SEASON, LAST YEAR, YOU HAVE NO REASON TO BELIEVE SCIRA WILL BE TOGETHER OR GET MORE SCREEN TIME. IF THEY DIDN'T BREAK UP ON AIR HOPEFULLY THE WRITERS WILL EXPLAIN IT. KIRA WILL BE GONE FOR WHO KNOWS HOW LONG YOU CAN'T EXPECT SCOTT TO WAIT FOR SOMEONE THAT MAY NEVER COME HOME IN HIS LIFETIME. Or you have the mindset that Scott and Malia are the only two left single so they shouldn't be together just because that/boys and girls can be friends and nothing more.
  • GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE WITH THAT. If you think Scalia is happening soley because there the only ones left you haven't been paying attention or reading context clues. Posey and Shelley are really great friends which is why Scalia works and has a standing ground. Scalia is developed in much the same way. They have a BASIS OF FRIENDSHIP FIRST. They're both loyal to each other, protect each other, and kick ass together. They're iconic. And I still don't understand why people hate the friends into something more trope. That's a great trope. Just falling into a romance without being friends with a person is the trope I hate. BUILD THAT FRIENDSHIP YALL! MAJOR KEY ALERT.
  • https: //
  • I MEAN, LIKE YOU CAN SEE THAT THEY'VE HAD THAT TUNNEL SCENE AND THE ONE IN DEATON'S OFFICE, AND THE PORCH SCENE, AND ALL OF 6A!!! I suggest watching the Pennig vids first(Home, Soldier, and the This or That vids and the cutest upbeat scalia vid is And Your Smile Shining Bright)
  • PLEASE JUST GIVE THE VIDEOS A CHANCE, GIVE THE IDEA OF THEM BEING HAPPY A CHANCE BEFORE YOU WRITE THEM OFF. This vids at the beginning are a little AUey and are more manipued that the older ones because I made the playlist and they came out before 6a was released, the further you go down the list the more actual scalia scenes are used. I doubt any of us would be happy that Scott got a random new love interest for the last ten episodes that we know nothing about or care about and that wouldn't be in all ten episodes.
  • And lastly, Scott turned Malia human again. We all know that. If there hadn't been Scira or residual Scallison do you think you would've shipped Scalia then? I was blind to it until after 5b. He changed her back, she protected him from the Berserkers, from Enis at the hospital, he took care of her when she was drunk, helped with the Desert Wolf/Belasko talons, he told her he was still there for her after the Stalia breakup, if Peter hadn't bitten Scott none of this would've happened and obviously Peter's her dad. Like can yall see the lines here? And all this doesn't mean they have to be together, but if you really look at them and watch Shelley and Tyler together and Scott and Malia then hopefully you'll see what the rest of us see. Two amazing people that have come so far that care for each other they just so happen to figure out how much at the same time. : D
  • I LIED. LASTLY, PENNIG BITCHES!!!!! OHHH MY GOOOOOOD! THEY ARE LIKE LITERALLY SO IN LOVE WITH EACH OTHER, TYLER MORE SO PROBABLY BUT IT'S SO OBVIOUS. THEY'RE SOCIAL MEDIA GIVES ME HEART PALPITATIONS. SHELLEY IS SO BEAUTIFUL AND SO FUNNY! LIKE PENNIG HAS PHOTOSETS OF THEM POOPING, EATING PIZZA, AND JUST BEING WEIRD AF. "I could eat you" Come on, if Shelley didn't have a boyfriend I think Posey would be on that like white on rice. To be fair, I think he already is kinda. It's so obvious he's head over heels for Shelley.
  • BITCH I LIED AGAIN. Lastly, at the very least, the idea of them is adorable. Take out Stiles for a second. If it was just Scott had turned her back and she eventually found her way to the pack but Scira still happened and ended, the idea of them wouldn't be so yuck to some of yall I would think. He's good to her. She needs that after her first relationship that wasn't great in my opinion, but also wasn't as bad as some stydias like to say. I say stalia is all wrong from a writing standpoint not a shipping standpoint. He "tames" her in some ways when she was still learning and she could bring out a wilder side in him. Hu Anita's King and Lionheart Scalia vid on that playlist showcased them perfectly. Like Scott's the King and Malia is his Lionheart. Iconic Duo.

I don’t even like William, but from what Noora said he really struggled with the Nico stuff. While he shouldn’t have abandoned her and worked all the time, effectively ending their communication, it’s important to remember his side. SKAM is all about people learning and changing for the better, and it teaches us not to judge people based on their mistakes and their prejudices. At the end of the day, he was a teenager who couldn’t handle the weight of that relationship, but to say he’s abusive to Noora and that he’s an inherently bad person is, in my opinion, unfair.

SKAM is all about how people aren’t what they seem, and William may seem like a fuckboy who messes with Noora’s heart but just remember that Even screwed with Isak’s feelings but redeemed himself, and Jonas was a pretty shitty boyfriend but redeemed himself.

I mean, as a character, William reminds me a lot of my sister’s boyfriend. Sure he’s an idiot, and he’s a freakin’ mess but he’s also the same age (19/20) and he’s still young. And I know he loves my sister a lot despite his idiocy and the fact that she deserves better. She loves him, the same way Noora loves William. It’s irrational but it’s uncontrollable.

I just think everyone needs to calm down on the William hating and either ignore him (if you hate the Noorhelm stuff that much just don’t let it bother you) or simply wait and see how the story pans out for Noora and Noorhelm.

so... sometimes i feel like i'm not welcome in the yoi fandom bc i'm straight. i don't say any homophobic shit, i stay away from controversy, and yet i always see posts that say the yoi fandom isn't for straight ppl or that everyone hates straight ppl. i know that it's a tool for combatting the stigma of the lgbt+ community but it still stings a little (kind of like when poc make white jokes, but i never see posts about poc characters hating white ppl explicitly stated). what do i do?

actually, I don’t think I’m qualified to answer because I’m straight and cis. I’m not going to say that posts like that don’t bother me at all, but I acknowledge that it’s people’s right to make fun of a large group that has been consistently oppressive over a gargantuan time span. it does “sting” a bit when people tell you that you don’t belong somewhere because of anything. I’m a woc and I don’t like “"hateful”“ white jokes but not all poc are like that, for instance. however, I love to believe everyone has good intentions, so I honestly wouldn’t get too stressed about it. just enjoy the content and move on.

I’d really like someone who is part of the LGBTQ+ community to answer this anon, because I’m not really qualified to say much on the matter specifically.

WOW, you like Sherlock less than GoT? Maybe it's that I hate it too much, but I don't see how is Sherlock worse? Not saying it isn't, just didn't give it much tought/analysis, could you explain why?

Sure thing! (Sherlock fans who read my blog, this post may not be for you. You carry on enjoying your stuff.) Cut for extensive ranting about a show I really, really dislike.

To your last post: Sometimes I feel like the younger generation wants fandom and fan culture to be back in the closet, back to something that isn't talked about IRL. Not even on purpose or anything like that, but it sure feels like that'll happen with all their calls of "don't ship/write/draw that icky thing where I can see, it's PROBLEMATIC". They make fandom unsafe for everyone. The fandom I'm in is so toxic there is constantly people lashing out against what I ship and create and I'm tired.

I really get that. I often wish we had a fan-owned social media platform that could combine the advantages of livejournal (flocking your journal, long, cohesive comment threads) with those of tumblr (shared tags, open spaces, easier ways to connect and share content). But for now, fandom’s platform is tumblr, so we have to make do.

I think it’s important not to be intimidated. Protect yourself by all available means - blocking, unfollowing, blacklisting - clean your dashboard, follow like-minded people, even if they are from different fandoms - but you’ll see that they have to deal with similar problems. It comes with the benefit that when you see something hurtful on your dash, chances are good that someone else has already written a well-worded reply, which you can then back up with a variety of “This!” if you feel like it.

Keep on doing what you love and don’t get too defensive. Keep in mind, you don’t have to justify yourself for the things you like - ships, kinks, tropes, whatever, it’s fine. I know it’s easy to doubt yourself when people attack you so viciously, but really, they are the ones deciding to harass you when they could just as easily leave you be, which tells you something about their real motives.

Actually, refusing to get defensive and apologetic over your ships is a surefire way to make concern trolls and would-be sjws froth at the mouth. How dare you unrepentantly ship That Thing™! How dare you not even try to explain yourself by telling them all about your personal life and your reasons for liking That Thing™ (so that they can in turn tell you that it’s not an excuse, and call you names)! No, really, don’t explain yourself. Blatantly refuse to be intimidated. They hate confidence more than anything because they only gain theirs by dogpiling on others.

Oh, and they hate getting laughed at. So laugh at them. Find an angle to see something humorous in their comments. Roll your eyes at their catchphrases. Award them bonus points, depending on how many they use. “Perpetuating harmful stereotypes”. Check. “Hurting survivors”. Check. “Romanticizing abuse”. Check. “Horrible human being.” Check. “ —> “Congratulations! The SJ-o-meter ranked your post at 15 brp (bullshit rhetoric points).” They’ll get mad at you like you wouldn’t believe. Then, when you’ve driven them into a frenzy, block them. Block anyone else on their side of the trenches, don’t read their follow-up posts, just ignore them. Once you’ve understood the way these people argue, it’s ridiculously easy to predict what their next reply will be. Oh, and ask them questions like these:

“Do you also go to mainstream porn sites and shame the dudes watching gangbang clips? I mean, surely that’s a much more problematic thing than a couple of fans drawing rather exotic kinds of fanart.”

“Do you think we should ban the bible as well? After all, it’s fiction full of genocide, slavery, incest, and rape. And you have to admit, there are far more people reading the bible than fanfiction.”

“I see you posted about that episode of that series last week, where character A did this Illegal Thing™. Are you not afraid that people could see this episode and think it’s okay to do this Illegal Thing™?”

If they refuse to answer those questions - as they likely will, because the honest answer would be a no - ask them what their real motives are when they criticize other fans.

Also fallacies. It really helps to be able to tell when your opponent’s “argument” is just a red herring, or an ad hominem attack, or an appeal to authority. The famous “I am a survivor, so it’s my right to tell you what is or isn’t harmful” is just bullshit. Don’t even bother refuting these kinds of statement, it’s a waste of time; they’re easier fended off by pointing out their fallacious nature.

Last but not least, if you get anon hate, but don’t want to turn off anon asks altogether, publish them with random facts about the life of the Australian sea turtle. Or just delete them. They’ll keep watching your blog, silently fuming as you ignore them.

And remember, you are not alone. Fandom is full of great people, it just takes some effort to weed out the haters, and find a way not to let them ruin your day.

the signs as edgy bullshit people spout when they want to look like Good Homestuck Fans
  • Aries: aradia isn't boring, she's really Whacky and Silly and has a Great Sense of Humor because she played with a hat that one time
  • Taurus: tavros!! is not!!! shy!!! he's ~super sassy~ and frankly kind of an asshole. yeah an asshole is definitely what tavros is. yup
  • Gemini: [N/A because sollux's presence in the fandom outside of erisol, arasol and solfef is virtually nonexistent. something about him not liking bees probably.]
  • Cancer: karkat isnT SHOUTY ALL THE TIME OK he's super nice to People He Cares For [out-of-context screencaps of him being civil to kanaya or eridan][screencap of him telling aradia he liked her better when she was alive]
  • Leo: nepeta isn't weak. she can kill u with her BARE HANDS. she is STRONG. she is UNASSAILABLE. there is literally no chance that a teenage girl would EVER shed tears over being rejected by a boy she cared for are you forgetting shes super STRONG and have i mentioned how STRONG she is yet or
  • Virgo: kanaya isn't a Boring Classy Lesbian. what is she exactly? who knows. like three people in the fandom have taken the pains to actually analyze her character ever
  • Libra: terezi doesn't just lick things all the time!!1! she's actually very manipulative and has great depth of character. she has Depression and Anxiety and was abused by gamzee pre-retcon, which is pretty common knowledge by now but i still think earns me brownie points here for some reason
  • Scorpio: you know she's more than just bluster and abusive actions right? she's so Unhappy and had a really Rough Childhood what with having to kill all those people to feed her shit lusus. really i think people only hate her because she's a girl. ask her h8rs if they hate gamzee just as much to get a good idea of how misogynistic they are
  • Sagittarius: equius ISN'T CREEPY. he made robot parts for people he wasn't friends with and doesn't let his racism get in the way of being polite, just as i don't let common sense get in the way of shipping canon equara
  • Capricorn: gamzee's not just Dangerous and Unpredictable, he's really goofy and sweet? sopor gamzee aka the one on literal mood altering drugs is the True Gamzee. but don't get me wrong he's IRREDEEMABLE TRASH and i fully support him being locked in the fridge after the retcon without any attempt at explanation or assistance
  • Aquarius: eridan wasn't desperate! or lonely! or sad! or any of the reasons people in the fandom relate to his behavior! because i am incapable of simultaneously defending a character AND acknowledging their neuroses. i'm actually really progressive you know. i still manage to find him abusive btw
  • Pisces: despite literally no one ever implying that feferi was useless, i feel compelled to remind you every few hours that she was, in fact, not useless. she's a very complex and kind-hearted character who has never been ableist in any shape or form. if u disagree then ur compelled to hate everyone who's ever been written to say the r slur and also ur a huge misogynist who ships erisol probably [pauses to reblog some erifef art]

Random ass thought post about BonKai.

First off - I don’t ship this. I won’t go into why, because it doesn’t matter, but I will go into something that’s really troubling about it, which is how the writers and actors and general TVD staff have rallied against it in this vehement way that we’ve never really seen them do outside of Kennett. Do I disagree with their logic about the ship being ‘abusive’? No, which should theoretically put me in a position to appreciate their squashing efforts. But honestly, given the track record of this show with abusive relationships being glorified as exciting, adventurous, flattering, sexy ships that reaffirm some undeniable desirability in the females subjected to them (a narrative that I HATE, by the way, but one they’ve chosen to follow nonetheless), the knee-jerk reaction of the writing staff against any dark!ship that involves Bonnie is seriously problematic.

Again, this is a weird observation for me because I’ve pretty much hated every iteration of that kind of ship that TVD has done. Anytime a dark, villainy obsession pops up over night through some random ass moment or plot device, I’m not going to like it - I get why other people do, but it’s just not my thing. And like, the objective part of me that views Bonnie as a general character is thrilled it wasn’t done to her. But then the part of me that views her as a TVD character - a context in which these toxic-style ships are written as the main draw - gets seriously pissed off that the writers don’t deem Bonnie dimensional or like… I don’t know, central enough for a storyline like that. Because sadly, that’s what these toxic ships have come to imply on this show - that a female character is so wonderful and beautiful and irresistible that even the big!bad can’t resist (again, GROSS, but it’s the equation they’ve chosen so they need to live by the implications of it when they consistently deny a character of it).

Like why the flying fuck did Klaroline happen? Was it planned? Did it make sense? Or did a moment of unexpected chemistry spark a giant, rabid fandom that the writers were excited about? That the writers gave interviews about where they said that they never expected that reaction but how could they ignore it? And like, how the hell is that different from BonKai? Caroline had literally just gotten out of a love triangle with Matt and Tyler and Klaus was the guy hell-bent on ruining the guy she loved’s life (and everyone else’s, really) and they managed to turn him saving her from the death he brought upon her into the start of a romance. Like, if you can pretzel your way into that, then why the actual hell can you not develop a romantic arc between an entirely single girl and the guy she’s LITERALLY ALONE WITH in an isolated prison world who hasn’t had human interaction in decades so would instinctively fixate on a pretty girl? And how come when the Klaroline fandom big banged into existence, they were all happy about it (despite how much that romance would compromise the characters involved), but when the BonKai fandom blew up, they responded in the exact opposite manner?

Again, this isn’t my ship. But I can understand why you guys are angry and I don’t support the way the staff has responded to you, despite the fact that it theoretically reflects my interests. Despite what they say, their shutdown of BonKai doesn’t feel like it’s coming from a place of ‘Bonnie is special’, but rather from a place of ‘Bonnie isn’t special enough’, and that’s why it’s bullshit.

u know it’s pretty fucked up how really only two or three people have shown the slightest bit of faith in jaune honestly it’s so sad.

ren consistently shows he doesn’t have trust in jaune’s choices (believing jaune had become friends with cardin even though he’d been bullied relentlessly by him, showing disdain when jaune asks him to distract may). nora, although jokingly, basically says that jaune has no remarkable qualities compared to his team. weiss hates him, yang has seen him as no more than a joke, jaune has mentioned his own parents look down on him, qrow commented that pyrrha was the one carrying HIS team and his one interaction with glynda had her patronizing him. the only three people we can say have been shown to have any belief in him are pyrrha, ruby and ozpin.

but then add into the equation that ozpin disappeared, and the last thing pyrrha did was shove him in a locker and send him away, which can easily be interpreted by jaune as pyrrha basically saying “i don’t have enough faith in you to let you help me, it’s better for me to die because i KNOW you can’t help me” AND SHE WAS HIS CLOSEST FRIEND. the only person he really has left who’s EVER said anything positive towards jaune is ruby

so in conclusion yea im rlly sad about jaune arc

Hey I don't suppose you know if they ever explained why red hood works with the bat fam and they work with him in the new 52? Like doesnt Jason hate Bruce after he was killed and isn't Bruce supposed to hate him for killing bad guys?

Hi! Couple different things to explain here, I’ll try to do it in a stepwise way.

1. Jason never really hated Bruce - he loved Bruce, and was hurt that Bruce never avenged his death. Jason was extremely attached to Bruce when he was a child, and upon being resurrected and healed he was upset to find out that Bruce didn’t kill the Joker, because Jason immediately would have done that if Bruce had been the one to die. Jason has numerous opportunities to kill Bruce and backs out of it each time, instead opting to undertake an elaborate revenge plot that will force Bruce to feel the *emotional pain* Jason has suffered (Under the Red Hood).

2. During UtRH, Jason learns that Bruce didn’t kill the Joker only because Bruce feels that if he kills one person, he’ll continue to kill more and more people and escalate Batman to a level of violence he doesn’t approve of. After this, Jason doesn’t quite forgive Bruce 100% but doesn’t have the same degree of confusion and pain as before, and he operates as an anti-hero separate from Bruce doing his own thing. He sometimes collaborates with Tim and Dick, but mainly keeps to himself.

3. Bruce views Jason as someone he failed. He doesn’t hate Jason at all - he loves him and feels extremely saddened that Jason is alienated from the family and takes people’s lives into his own hands. Bruce specifically feels worst about not getting Jason proper trauma counseling when he was a child, and thinks that Jason’s current behavior is his fault. He cares immensely for Jason, even keeping him illegally locked up in Arkham for his own protection (Red Hood has too many enemies in Blackgate).

4. Bruce reaches out to Jason during his Batman Incorporated initiative, and Jason eagerly accepts, looking for a chance to turn over a new leaf. Bruce gives him a new identity, Wingman, and Jason saves his life by getting to him and Talia in the nick of time.

New 52 begins:

4. The New 52 barely makes sense and is infected with Lobdell’s shit writing so it’s hard for me to explain their relationship. Jason spent 2011-2013 acting like a fucking child and being mad that “Bruce let him die”, and then Bruce was like “I can’t control everyone and I’ve come to accept that so welcome to the team, buddy boy, enjoy killing :)” like I’m not exaggerating it was the most unsatisfying bullshit ever. Then they hugged in bed. Then Bruce traumatized him by getting Jason’s hopes up about being a family again but then taking him to the building he died in to grill him about his resurrection. Nice one, Bruce. Jason totally unfriends him on Facebook but the next time we see them together they’re pretty much BFF again??

IDK. Fuck DC’s Jason Todd department, they did a tremendously shitty job with this character. Literally just fecal matter at this point.

I know some Reylo fans say Rey was just shocked when Kylo removed his masked and revealed himself to be a young human male, and they're entitled to their opinion, but c'mon. You don't do the eye-flutter thing unless you think a guy's HOT. She even did the 'staring-OMG-he's coming towards me-look away thing'. Now, this isn't to say that she liked the fact she found him handsome. I'm sure that just made the situation 1000x more confusing and scarier for her, especially after he killed Han.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but to say that her reaction was exclusively this or that is incorrect.

There were many factors in her reaction - oh shit he’s not deformed, I was wrong, why is he staring at me like that, why did he take off the helmet, why am I here, god he’s kind of cute (a fact which she is NOT immune to - it’s in the novelization that she appreciates the look of Poe), shit he’s coming towards me, oh god he’s asking about the droid, think woman think, be a smartass, hide your fear, why is he leaning closer to me, AVOID EYE CONTACT, but first let me just double check if he’s really that good looking, shit he saw me, god dammit woman you’re better than this, this guy is an asshole, don’t give him what he wants, FUCK what’she doing to me, what is this feeling, WHAT WAS THAT SNAPPING, WHY DOES HE FEEL THE SAME THING I DO?

Sorry, that’s Rey. It wasn’t 100% terror, nor was it 100% attraction and denial. It was so much more nuanced than that and if people don’t/can’t acknowledge that she very clearly had full range of emotions going through her head then IDK what to tell them.

People like to put characters in little boxes when that’s just very very disrespectful to both the writers and the actors.

In the forest, after he killed Han, she probably hated that she had ever thought that monster was handsome. But that doesn’t erase what she feels.

Heechul's Interview with Women's Central - PART 2
  • I have been curious from just now, how do the members get along?
  • Heechul: The bands in the past are formed by people who have the same interest but idol groups are kids who don't know each other being put together. It doesn't matter if we have the same interest, there will definitely be conflicts within the group. The question is how to resolve the conflicts. We must have some conflicts first before we can develop a relationship. SJ has more members so even if there are quarrels, at most they will fight to solve the problem. If 2 members of a 5-6 members group fight, the other kids will not know what to do. But if 2 members of our group fight, the rest, 9-10 of us, will continue to play. Though it might be awkward at first, they will make up as we play.
  • What kind of fights?
  • Heechul: I heard that there isn't a a group that fights like us. We said in broadcasts too that there were direct quarrels.. we talked about slapping each other too. Doing so (fighting) reduces misunderstandings. After our relationship gets deeper, quarrel will lessen.
  • Never fought over money before?
  • Heechul: The amount of money we get for each member is the same so we never fight over money. We just take our own portion. But like I did War of Words alone, the pay from that will go to me. The pay from concerts is unconditionally 1/n (divided equally).
  • When was SJ the most popular?
  • Heechul: 2009 during Sorry Sorry. At that time we consecutively got number 1 on the charts in Taiwan. After that for the next 3 years, our albums got number 1 in Taiwan too.
  • You must have made a lot of money.
  • Heechul: I spent a lot of it away. Because I bought a weird piece of land and got cheated.
  • So your asset is 50million? 100million?
  • Heechul: Aye~! Let's skip this question. If you keep doing this I will go to a rival company and tell them everything that I didn't say here. And I will tell them everything I said in Women's Central is not true! I am done for if I reveal that here or talk about money.
  • Hahaha, ok I know.. But the money you make also have ups and downs?
  • Heechul: Of course, I make more when we release albums or have concerts but I don't get anything during enlistment. Actually SJ was at its peak when I was doing military service.
  • Why did you got to the army at the best moment to make money?
  • Heechul: Because I was impatient. People around me advised me to go later but I still went in like that. I hated it that I had to go to the Army office every time I go for overseas shows, so I thought I might as well enlist. Even the company can't stop me. I went into public service because of my injury from an accident. I went in quietly and came out quietly.
  • How is the life of public service?
  • Heechul: Others might read/study a lot in these 2 years and received certifications, but for me, I only think about not being in other people's sight and to not create troubles. Because I don't want to attract attention, I wore simple clothes and took the subway to and from work.
  • Even so, I think many people found out?
  • Heechul: Even those elders who don't know that I am a SJ member will look at me. Because I am handsome. (laughs) The funny thing is, those people who saw me when I am working were quiet. "Omo, Heechul ssi, hi," just like that, ended. But when it is time to knock off, if 2 or 3 people recognize me, they will go like "Oh Kim Heechul! Kim Heechul!" Those people whom I bumped into when I am going to work are sometimes the same as those peopl I bumped into when I knock off. But they are quiet when they are going to work and they will ask to take photos together when they knock off, it was a total change. Those who go to restaurants or pubs alone will not be involved with scandals. Those who hangout with women will create scandals.
  • Looks like many fan went to look for you at Sungdong Office.
  • Heechul: It was like this at first. But my thinking was 'I am a public soldier now, I am not a celebrity during enlistment' so I told those fans who came "It cause inconvenience for me if you come like this. Don't come anymore" And they really stopped coming. My fans are obedient and look after me well.
  • I heard that fans are obedient because you are scary.
  • Heechul: Because they know my temper (laughs). But that was all in the past, I have changed a lot.
  • Looks like you felt a lot of emotions during public service.
  • Heechul: Loving my job, thankful for the present, thoughts like this. In the past, I will have bad mood if someone asked me for my autograph in a restaurant, I will not eat and just leave while nagging. Nobody likes to be interrupted during meals. No manners (laughs). But while working in the district, many people asked for photos and autographs and I gave them. My way of thinking has changed a lot. To me it isn't something that is tiring, but to others, it is something that will become a precious memory. I reflected a lot on my past.
  • Men becomes more matured when they come back from the army.
  • Heechul: Aiya~ but it will be uninteresting if a celebrity becomes matured. I want to be immature in an appropriate way. I can't get into trouble. I want to live as happily as I can within the laws of Korea.
  • I mean something like this.
  • Even the way one looks at women changes after the army.
  • Heechul: The way I look at women is the same from before to now. I like those who are elegant and pretty. Because my character is like a blade so it is best if I find a woman who is like a sheath. She can slowly guide me, age doesn't matter.
  • Looks doesn't matter?
  • Heechul: I don't look at face and height. But I look at the figure, I like girls with nice legs.
  • Looks like you have met a lot of women.
  • Heechul: Not a lot, but just right. I don't always have a girlfriend. My longest relationship was 5 months. Actually I am the kind who doesn't like to meet women. Up to middle school, I only played computer games. I only know about the female characters in games. I have no feelings for real-life women. To be honest, the female characters in games are prettier. But I have a little more feeling of wanting to get in a relationship after 30 years old. If I were to get into a relationship, I want to date with a normal girl. Holding hands on the street, doing things like how normal couples do.
  • But then everyone can still recognize you.
  • Heechul: Of course there will be some sacrifice. Even so, compared to both being celebrities, the attention from the media will still be smaller if she is a normal person. Recently my fans have been telling me to stop playing games and get married. Told me not to slip into the game characters and prefers me to meet a real girl instead. I am thankful to my fans, I have brought a lot of troublesome matters to them. When I took photos with women, or when I talk about women in broadcasts, no matter how cool my fans are, there are still possibilities that they dislike it. However they have been very understanding, I am really thankful.
  • Didn't you have any special impressions of any fans?
  • Heechul: Hahahaha... but those fans that I remember have already gotten married. I even sent them flowers. The relationship with my fans is even higher than of working colleagues and family. No matter what happens, we will still move forward hand in hand. Actually I can't talk well and I have a short temper too but fans have been taking care of this immature oppa, I am really thankful.
  • You like kids a lot? Recently in Superman Returns, you took good care of the kids.
  • Heechul: In the past I used formal language with the kids, I didn't know what to do. But those kids who were born recently are really cute. I am also very curious how pretty a kid who looks like me will be. So I told my mum I want to quickly have a child but I don't want to get married. Mum said I am crazy. Marriage is really a very far away topic. I am not familiar with dating, how can I be responsible to a woman? I am not confident yet. I would rather co-habitat first and if both of us get along then we get married, it doesn't sound too bad like this.
  • You are very honest, but no matter what, you do have thoughts to get married.
  • Heechul: Because I am immature, I can't date a girl for a long time. I didn't do well too but I want to get married. After dating, it there are thoughts of getting married, we will get married naturally.
  • How will you treat a woman?
  • Heechul: I will just do whatever I want, that's why I didn't have a relationship for a long time. I never lie or say empty words. On my girlfriend's birthday I even told her 'We are not married, why do I need to give a gift?' Just like this, I hurt the girl's feelings. I won't get married instantly, we must date and then get married naturally. But I seem to spoil it too early. I think maybe expressions are important. When the girl makes me a lunchbox, even if it's tasteless, maybe I have to tell a white lie ans say it's delicious.
  • You are the kind that can express love.
  • Heechul: I am the kind that can look after someone from the back. There was once when I fell sick, my girlfriend brought me a lunchbox. While eating I was thinking 'my girlfriend traveled so far for me, this isn't good'. So from then on I never tell her when I was sick. I don't want her to be worried for me. When my girlfriend is sick, I will let her rest, I will leave the medicines at her doorstep and leave. I was afraid that if I asked her to come out to get the medicine, she will feel burdened. I hate the idea of male chauvinist.
  • That is quite manly. Then how would you like girls to express themselves?
  • Heechul: In the past, I hate it when others try to restrict me. I don't like it when company or parents try to restrict me but it's different with a girlfriend. Calling each other in the morning to chat, calling each other when going out, it's really interesting. I felt restricted when I first did that, isn't there a song 'Sweet Restrictions', I like that kind...
  • Have you prepared surprises for girls before?
  • Heechul: On the 100th day anniversary with my girlfriend, I booked a restaurant, put up some balloons and smoke, play some music in the background, a surprise like this. I had a bad fight with her the day before, so I rented the restaurant in the last minute. I was quite lost and didn't know what to do so I just curled up and didn't dare to look at my girlfriend's eyes. It was my first time doing such a thing since I was born. I want to tell my guy friends, the effect of a project like this can only last for a week. In the end it's still better to treat her well consistently.
  • Even if it was rented in the last minute, a surprise like this is not bad.
  • Heechul: Hong Seok-cheon hyung was the one who came up with this idea. And that was his shop. If I am dating, it will be good to date a normal girl. Walking on the streets, hand in hand, I want to do stuff like what other normal dating couples do.
  • When did you first start dating a girl?
  • Heechul: When I was 22 and was still a trainee. She was older than me. We broke up after seeing each other for 2 weeks. We went to DVD room to watch Lion King. When I am reading manga or playing games, I really hate to have people walking around me or touching me. There was a sad scene and I was going to cry but my girlfriend kept caressing me, so I turned my face away, after that we broke up.
  • It's a little unbelievable, sounds like an idol's answer.
  • Heechul: It's true! Hyung, I was too childish at that time.
  • You prefer games and movies to girlfriends?
  • Heechul: There was once I broke up with a celebrity girlfriend over computer games. "Oppa, do you like games or do you like me?" I replied "I like both." "What? Oppa, how can you say this?", "It doesn't mean you like me" and then she got angry and wanted a break up so we broke up.
  • Are you still playing games?
  • Heechul: Of course, recently I am playing LOL with Lee Minho of The Heirs. We can't meet up so we just went back to our respective homes. After schedules, I connect my computer, Minho is often there. We will open the chatroom and chat there while playing.
  • You have said before that it's better to invest in game characters because they won't leave you unless you delete the game.
  • Heechul: I said this in a broadcast before. Although i got 'bashed' by many females, I have also given hope to many people who likes to stay in. When I was doing the radio broadcast, my female fans decreased and male fans increased. There was once when Girl's Days came over as guests for Valentine's Day special and they said that they will make chocolates in the past for their boyfriends and the boyfriends loved it. So I told them "They are all lying. I told them boys prefer gas vouchers or gift vouchers over chocolates. I really got scolded by many female listeners but the male listeners cheer for me.
  • You will go to any game broadcasts?
  • Heechul: I have been to Gamenet League of Legend broadcast, I am Carry, before. I did some commentation and also played the game. Although I did the commenting for 4 hours, it was really fun. I was afraid that the TV station might be worried of my fees so I didn't go get the money. During meal gathering, I also paid for the bill. Actually I really want to be On Gamenet MC. But there are many circumstances which I can't anticipate so I didn't do it. Next time if there is a chance, I must try it.
  • The company doesn't object this? Super Junior's Kim Heechul hosting a game show.
  • Heechul: The words I hate most is 'Why did you appear in such a show?' or 'Why did you meet such a low class person?' We work together so where does all this grading come from? In this world I hate talks about 'classes' the most. 'You have lowered your class,' then I will say 'So what? no matter where I am, who I am with, I am still Kim Heechul.' If I can, I really want to do everything that I want to do.
  • How do you manage your human network?
  • Heechul: I don't manage it. I just hangout with people who gets along with me. A lot of celebrities hide things from each other and cares about 'classes' so it's hard to get close, but I am not like this. I am honest and I don't like to lie. Those close to me includes Ma Dongsuk, Cho SeHo, Son Dambi, Taeyeon, Park shinhye etc. Regardless of gender, we are drinking buddies. I will meet with good actors, good singers and good comedians, none of those around me cares about 'classes'.
  • Looks like everything you do is 4 dimensional and you have your own way of thinking.
  • Heechul: One of the reason why I live in the dorm is because I love to play. When I drink too much in a banquet or gathering... in occasions like these, there will definitely be women. When I drank too much, women will come over and do aegyo and say 'Can't we drink more in Oppa's house?' If I am living alone, there might be more cases like this, so living in a dorm really suits me.
  • Are you telling me that there are women who will tell men that they want to drink in their homes?
  • Heechul: There are really a lot, hyung you have never encounter this?
  • This is the difference between an idol and a middle age man. In my life, when I was young and still single, I have never heard of 'let's go drink more in your home' before.
  • For Kim Heechul, phrases like 'the world of 4 dimensions' and 'full of confidence' have been following you.
  • Heechul: Because it is the truth. To be honest, during my debut period, anyone around me will feel annoyed and burdened by me. But being a DJ, meeting many people, it has taught me how to judge situations. My bipolar may have impacted negatively on some broadcasts. After knowing this, I will work harder towards a more positive direction, seems like my personality has changed too. I also have more feelings after finishing my military service and coming back
  • What do you think your charm is?
  • Heechul: The sense of surprise. To be able to see something unexpected, isn't that interesting? When I just debuted, some say I look like Japanese. But then they found out that I grew up in Gangwon-do, a man who looks like a girl but has a frank character and can drink well, many people like the sense of surprise like this.
  • Which one do you like best between singing, variety, acting, DJ and MC?
  • Heechul: I feel happiest to be a singer. Especially when I hear the explosive screams from the fans during concerts. This sense of excitement can only be felt on stage together with fans. So no matter where I go, I will say that I am a Super Junior and a singer.
  • When will Super Junior comeback?
  • Heechul: This year we will have a new album as well as a world tour. And it is Super Junior's 10th anniversary. We are often energetic, this time we will be able to do very well too. I wish that Super Junior will always be happy. This is a battle concerning how far we can move forward. When I was little, I thought that it is most important to be handsome and charming but from some point onwards, I felt that this is all useless.
  • To Kim Heechul, Super Junior is...
  • Heechul: In the beginning when there were 13 members in the group, people asked what do we have left after dividing it (profits) between 13 people. A lot of talks like this. But the truth is, our existence cannot be bought with money. When we go to TV stations, or anywhere else, we will be proud. Super Junior is not a job for me, it is a harbour where I can rest. Other than the members, who can accept me when I throw a tantrum when I am in a bad mood? Anyone can accept me when I make noises in a good mood. I become more careful when I get more popular but I don't have to be like this with the members. Sometimes I go naked and I don't close the door when I shower, just open the door and go in. I think it's good to have a relationship like this. The members' existence is now something I cannot be without in my life.
  • Lastly tell us your plans.
  • Heechul: I am thankful to be able to get into the company despite always creating troubles in school. My parents are also happy with my current success. I feel proud when my parents are happy to see me on variety shows. When I am tired, I often think about what I will be if I am not a celebrity. I am not someone will plan far into the future. I am someone who plans for the future like what I am planning now for tomorrow to do my best.

anonymous asked:

why do you and so many other writers continue to reblog things like "leaving reviews is so important!!" but then get so upset when someone reviews or comments with any sort of critique.. like i understand you don't want to be bashed but there's a point where it becomes contradictory. if people call out a story for being out of character or abusive.. shouldn't they be allowed to do that? fandom isn't always going to be a 'safe space' for anyone, especially not people who put out creative content

So,, let’s start with an analogy. Imagine, if you will, that you made a sweater. You knit it yourself. You went and picked out yarn, and found a pattern, and taught yourself to knit. It was kind of hard, and there were lots of times you wanted to quit, but you were determined to see it through. And you finished it, and you were so thrilled, and you wore it out in public and several people complimented you on it. Then, a total stranger walks up to you on the street and says, “Who taught you how to knit? That’s so awful. I can see a ton of dropped stitches, and the shoulder seams don’t sit right, and the color is ugly. God, I hope you never knit again so I don’t have to see the kind of ugly crap you make.”

Bet you feel pretty shitty at that moment. Bet, in fact, that unless you are a VERY strong person, you’ll never be able to look at that sweater without seeing all the flaws that person pointed out, and a few more besides. Bet you lose all the pleasure you’d taken in making something.

I very rarely have a day go by where I don’t get an email from a stranger telling me how much I suck, how they didn’t like my creative work. Sometimes they’re ad hominem attacks. It’s wearing. It’s exhausting. It can kill someone’s desire to write. It has killed my desire to write dramione, that’s for sure.

Let me share a smattering of things people have said to me, and I’d like you to think VERY CAREFULLY about what it’s like to get messages like this FROM PEOPLE WHOSE FANDOM LOVE YOU SHARE almost every day.

  • This story reads too much like the other Tomiones you’ve written, with Hermione becoming corrupted by falling for Tom. We’ve been there, done that with you several times already and it’s not really an impressive plot anymore. (Wibbly Wobbly)
  • Do keep in mind that not every fanfic reader has fallen for trite fad kink. Some of us grew up. (After the Sea)
  • I can’t read this anymore. I planned to endure until the end cuz I liked ur other stories sooooo much, but this fast paced romance and suddenly falling in love with each other after suddenly pitying him for being an arrogant racist does not work out for me I shall stick to ur much better fics (Muddy Princess)
  • I’ve never seen an adult woman act so much like a spoiled child (Rebuilding, but it was about me, not a character)
  • you ought to just stop writing Dramione (Rebuilding)
  • Wow. You must really hate Dramione (half a sorrow)
  • I’m just going to say this. Draco and Hermoine pairings aren’t realistic simply because Draco’s family along with him HATES mud bloods on top of that Hermoine has a natural personality to hate idiots who only get along on their families name like Draco does. (Green Girl)

I could really go on. It is a very rare day I don’t get a review that bashes my personality, my writing, or my pairing of choice. You say, well, yes, those are awfu but what about genuine critique, like out of character portrayals, or abuse.

What makes you think anyone wants to hear you complaining about how, in your opinion there portrayal of Hermione is out-of-character? Did they ask you? Did they invite you to be a beta-reader? Are you in a writing group with them? Are you friends? No? You’re a random stranger on the internet? Then you’re the person who goes up to the stranger on the street and tells them they did a lousy job when they made their sweater. You’re the person who made someone feel bad just because you could.

No one likes that. Everyone likes being complimented. I’m genuinely perplexed this seems to be a complicated thing to understand. Telling a stranger they executed their creative hobby badly is rude. It’s mean. It’s unkind. It’s being nasty because you can.

Sometimes people say things like, “Oh, but if you were in an MFA program the critique would be so much harsher.” Yes, but I would have applied to be there, would be paying to be there, would see the people ripping my work to shreds and be able to look them in they eye, and would, in turn, be critiquing their work. It’s a wholly different social construct than insulting strangers on the internet because the story they wrote and shared, and which you sought out, didn’t meet whatever stringent criteria you have in you head.

Should you be ALLOWED to be a rude jerk to a stranger? Are you really asking that? Allowed, by the way, is an odd word, because no one can stop you from being an anonymous asshole on the internet. Do you expect me to condone it? To tell you it’s perfectly okay to tell someone they’re doing their creative hobby wrong? Because it’s not.

Critique makes a writer better, but 99% of what people want to justify as ‘critique’ is petty nastiness and showing off. If you really want to offer feedback to help someone improve in their craft seek out a writer and offer to beta read for them, don’t just leave snippy messages that Hermione is out of character.

You can choose to support the people whose creative work you are consuming, or you can choose to be one of the people who makes fandom such an unsafe space people stop sharing their work. That’s up to you.

“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”

I was thinking and I came to conclusion that Rose was bullied and she has some learning disability.

I was thinking about this for a very long time and I truly think Rose was bullied when she was younger in school and that she has some learning disability.

In the first episode ‘Rose’ when she trapped in that cellar with the autons she thinks it’s a joke from some colleague.

ROSE: Right, I’ve got the joke. Who’s idea was this? Is it Derek’s? Is it? Derek, is this you?

And when Nine saves her she thinks it’s all a joke from students:

ROSE: Very clever. Nice trick! Who were they then, students? Is this a student thing or what?
DOCTOR: Why would they be students?
ROSE: I don’t know.
DOCTOR: Well, you said it. Why students?
ROSE: 'Cos to get that many people dressed up and being silly, they got to be students.

This makes me thinks she’s used this kind of bad jokes because she’s not surprised when she’s in this kind of stituation. On ’The End of The World’ when Jabe begins to call her names, Rose answers her in a very smart and sassy way, she’s not victimizes herself. The same thing happens on ’The Unquiet Dead’ when Nine saves her from that room with zumbis, when Rose get a chance she rants with Mr. Sneed:

ROSE: First of all you drug me, then you kidnap me, and don’t think I didn’t feel your hands having a quick wander, you dirty old man!
SNEED: I won’t be spoken to like this!
ROSE: Then you stuck me in a room full of zombies! And if that ain’t enough, you swan off and leave me to die! So come on, talk!

All this just really makes me thinks she was very bullied in her life and because of that she learns to fights it, to not be intimidated by anyone. I guess Rose’s years on school was not good because on the same episode when she’s talking to Gwyneth about school they said:

ROSE: So, did you go to school or what?
GWYNETH: Of course I did. What do you think I am, an urchin? I went every Sunday, nice and proper.
ROSE: What, once a week?
GWYNETH: We did sums and everything. To be honest, I hated every second.
ROSE: Me too.

And I guess it’s, in part, because her learning disability. Just observe the way Jackie is with her, she didn’t think Rose will do big thinks in her life. When Rose has her job exploded she said:

JACKIE: Well, you’ve got to find some way of making money. Your job’s kaput and I’m not bailing you out.

And the next day, Jackie says to her get a job on the on butchers. Even Mickey is very resigned that Rose’s life will be average, get a job, a house and done. Part because Rose doesn’t has her A-Levels and part because they don’t think she will archieve big things.

On 'Father’s Day’ we see her dad. Pete is very clever man but he’s a kind 'out there’, people think he’s has stop dream about his 'Vitex’ drinks and get a job, get money as everyone else. Even Jackie thinks that about him and herself.

So, all this made me think that Rose even been clever, she has some learning disability after her dad. That’s why I think she hated school so much, she might not have learned in the same speed that her friends who made fun of her, bullied her, making her think she was nothing. Part of this, makes me think, made her drop school to live with Jimmy Stone (this relationship of her and Jimmy Stone is more talked about on the official books).

And then appears The Doctor, a very superior everything alien and of all the people who could put her down is him, because his intelligence but he’s the only one who don’t do it, he’s the one who says she’s brilliant, clever and thanks her when she helps.

Remember the end of 'Rose’ when The Doctor took Rose and Mickey back on the Powel Estate, Rose said:

ROSE: You were useless in there. You’d be dead if it wasn’t for me.

She says half joking and half saying the truth and by her face we see she’s expecting he says “No way! how can I be saved by you” or something like that, but The Doctor doesn’t do it, he in fact thanks her, not only that but invite her to travel with him, she! Just a girl from Estate who everyone bullied and said she was not clever, she didn’t do great things in life.

I guess she said no because she was half thinking it was a joke, but by Nine’s face she sees it’s not and regrets her answer when he goes away, but he came back, she just goes with the Doctor.

This is what I think, and seeing this way just make me love more Rose, because she had her own world against her but when someone believed in her, when someone truly believe she could be more than just average, she created her own life and save the world and the universe.

That’s why I love her so much, because she has a hard life but she’s still kind with people, she doesn’t care about status, she’s compassionate.

People says she was selfish. Well, everyone is, but I can’t call her selfish when she tries to save her dad (she didn’t know that was a bad ideia), she was sad about the Doctor on 'School Reunion’ not for she isn’t be the only one but because The Doctor just left someone important to him and never looked back as his friend was nothing. It’s like is said on 'The Little Prince’ “You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.”.

People also says she was unfair with Mickey. Well, Mickey wasn’t a saint. He said to her he just didn’t go out with another girl on that year Rose was out because everyone thinks he was a murder. On ’Boom Town’ he goes to Cardiff sees Rose even dating another girl. On the official books is very clear Rose ended with him.

But the thing is, Rose is a well developmented character. She is just that girl, who could be everyone, she could be that student in school who everyone bullies, she could be my friend, my brother or even me. She has defects as everyone, but she has such great heart as few. I can easily relate myself to her, because her ups and downs.

Rose indeed creates herself to be what she always have pontential to be: someone strong who can make a difference, and for that, to make a difference, you don’t need to be posh, or rich or have A-Levels, you just need courage, even when you life is hell, you can be better and made the others better.

Kate and Sci see "Godzilla" and disapprove of its life choices
  • Me: Hey, there's still a mom! That's a good-
  • Movie: No, there isn't.
  • Me: My expectations for this movie just went way, way, way down.
  • Movie: Skips forward 15 years
  • Me: What? Why?
  • Kate: Because Brian Cranston isn't the young hot ineffectual white guy that audiences demand.
  • Me: Did they name the kid after a car company?
  • Kate: Noms noms noms.
  • Me: What are you- Are you using your hand to pretend to eat the human characters?
  • Kate: The movie we're fifteen minutes in and no one's been eaten yet. I need to correct this.
  • Me: Stop that.
  • Me: Actually, you make sense. Here, I'll help. But just the annoying characters.
  • Kate: So, the humans.
  • Me: ... Yes.
  • Kate: Anyway, why is everyone speaking English in Japan?
  • Me: The Japanese love us loveable gaijin!
  • Kate: No. No, they do not.
  • Me: Okay, because Americans are lazy and don't like to read subtitles.
  • Kate: Far more likely.
  • Movie: Makin' bad choices all the livelong day
  • Me: Okay, if you've broken into a quarantined area, and proved that the quarantine is a massive cover up and conspiracy, surrounded by hundreds of guys with guns, maybe screaming how you will expose them as soon as you get loose is not a good plan. In that they can just kill you and leave your body by the side of the road and no one will ever know.
  • Kate: Oh, Logic, this movie has none.
  • Me: Just saying. Oh, look, an interesting, likeable character with actual personality.
  • Kate: And he's not ineffectual white guy, so he's going to die.
  • Me: Maybe-
  • Movie: Squish
  • Me: Aw, sadness. You were a nice guy, random military grunt 2746.
  • Movie: Don't worry, ineffectual white guy named after a car is still here!
  • Me: But I hate him.
  • Movie: Soon you will hate him more.
  • General: I am going to make bad decisions!
  • Me: Why is the military always so stupid in these movies? If Rhodey was in that room, he would be like, are you all out of your GODDAMN minds?
  • Kate: That seems like a better movie. Rhodey and Stacker Pentacost.
  • Me: Ooooo! And Carol! Punch that monster, Carol! And for science staff, we need scientists who can deal with science that'll kill ya. Jane.
  • Kate: And Bruce. He's an expert in Gamma radiation.
  • Kate: I want it.
  • Ken Watanabe: Godzilla is here to restore balance to nature!
  • Me: What are you basing this on?
  • Kate: Previous Godzilla movies.
  • Me: Well, okay, then. Oh, look, they're dropping in the military guys with parachutes.
  • Kate: Annnnnnd... SAM. Sam. Sam.
  • Me: Sam would be a better choice.
  • Monsters: show up briefly to fight, then movie takes them away again
  • Me: GODDAMMIT. Just. Stop. With the humans. Do not care. This movie isn't called: "Ineffectual White Military Dude Has Daddy Issues" it's called "GODZILLA" give me what the title promises.
  • Kate: Maybe they will be eaten.
  • Me: We are pretty much the worst people ever, you realize that, right?
  • Kate: This movie has given me no reason to care. About any of them.
  • Me: I'm actually more sympathetic towards the monsters.
  • Me: Wow, this looks like the egg cache in "Finding Nemo" and now I really feel bad for the monsters, because ineffectual white guy (tm) is going to kill their babies and then the single father will have to take care of the one remaining one with the crippled wing.
  • Monsters: fighting
  • Me: And I'm now bored with this, because I've never liked the trope of 'lo, I am defeated, except I HAVE A POWER YOU NEVER SUSPECTED I HAD.'
  • Kate: Unless chain swords. When it's chain swords it's cool.
  • Me: Let's just skip the end and go watch Pacific Rim again. Riley got over his emotional stunted issues off screen.
  • Kate: Riley was better at this.
  • Ineffectual White Military Guy: Completely fails at his job.
  • Kate: Did the bomb just go off?
  • Me: Yeah, the big whiteout there in the background.
  • Kate: So they just nuked San Francisco.
  • Me: Well, most of it was already broken.
  • (Ineffectual White Guy finds his son somehow. Son finds mom in giant stadium full of people.)
  • Me: What is up with the 'kids can magically find their parents' thing in movies? The number of times some kid has grabbed my pant leg thinking I'm mom disproves this concept.
  • Kate: You realize that kid grows up to be Newt, right?
  • Me: ... I accept this headcanon.
  • Movie: Ends abruptly. Get out. There will be no encore.
  • Me: Well, I think they ran out of film.
  • Kate: Or cares to give. So. Where does that fall on the chain of bad movies featuring ineffective white guys?
  • Me: Above "Battleship," below "Red Dawn."
  • Kate: "Red Dawn" was horrible.
  • Me: And Chris Hemsworth still did a good job with it.
  • (And we yell about how much we hated 'Red Dawn' for the rest of the credits)

anonymous asked:

Oh wow, this fandom sure is full of hate over a film that hasn't been released. I do get where this all is coming from, but isn't a bit premature to be upset over something that, in the end, we have no idea about? We don't know how the plot will be executed, we don't know if staron will actually become a thing, we don't know whether Sharon will have more screen time than Wanda based on the concept art. People should, maybe just a bit, tone it down.

I didn’t mean for this to spiral out of control, but I’m tired of the posts that passive-aggressively attack people for maybe not liking Sharon Carter, or not wanting a Steve/Sharon romance. People can write their opinions on their blogs and I’ll never criticize them for it… but if they attack or villainize an entire fanbase while giving that opinion?! Come on. That’s too much.

I’m tired of being told I dislike Sharon (…I don’t.) because she “gets in the way of my white boy ship” – which is not canon, nor will ever be, so that argument makes no sense to me. But even those who don’t want a Sharon/Steve romance because they ship Steve/Bucky… so what? It doesn’t mean they hate Sharon - they’re just uninterested in seeing that particular romance. Everyone has their preferences.

Mostly, though, I’m really tired of being told that I’m misogynistic because I’m wary of Sharon’s characterization and her storyline. Am I really expected to adore every female character, no matter what, just because Marvel puts her in a movie? That’s ridiculous. I love Natasha, but I’ll forever criticize her portrayal in AoU. Sharon has potential, but I’m wary from what I’ve seen thus far. I think these bloggers forget that Sharon isn’t a real person; most Marvel female characters are created, written, and directed by men, often for men (especially in the original comics), and Marvel has had many problems with sexism in the past. I have reason to be wary, and we should be allowed to critique how female characters are written and portrayed in the media. Always.

I agree that it’s premature to have any opinion on her character, to defend her so radically or to dislike her… but it’s because most people are drawing on her comic characterization. Sharon’s making a late entrance to the MCU, but comes with major history in the comics with regards to Steve. She’s going to be a controversial character, no matter what, because it’s a lot of history to try to jam into a single (final) Captain America movie – a history that doesn’t really fit with the events of the MCU. So where does that leave her? What is Marvel planning to do with her?

Her character is only as much as Marvel makes her out to be. So will they ignore much of her history, turn her into an Agent and go their own way? Or are they going to shoehorn her comic characterization into the MCU, reducing her to a love interest for the sake of the action movie? From what I’ve seen in CATWS and in interviews… it looks like she’s being set up primarily as a love interest. The only Steve/Sharon interaction we have is her being used as a love interest (”ask out the pretty nurse!”). It sucks for her characterization and is not something I want to see, for all the reasons I spoke of in my post. I don’t dislike Sharon, but yes, I’m unsure of her character and how Marvel plans to use her in the story. From what I’ve seen thus far, I don’t see this going well. If others are excited about her, that’s cool. But stop attacking those who are disinterested.

My only point was that people have valid reasons for not liking a character, or not wanting a Sharon/Steve romance. It’s not misogyny, shipping wars, or whatever else people are trying to pin on fans. Stop reducing fans to silly girls who are incapable of thinking outside of their ship. To me, that is misogyny.

Here’s a couple reminders for everyone in the spn fandom

-you may not agree with the writters but that is not an excuse to threaten and disrespect them. You don't control the show.

-death is not always goodbye

-you are entitled to your opinion, but please do not spread it hatefully and ruin the experience for other fans

-don't insult anyone else’s ship or force your ship on others

-just because your ship isn't canon it does not give you the right to bombard actors at conventions with questions about that ship that make them uncomfortable

-the next two episodes are probably going to be traumatic, so support each other

-just be generally nice and courteous to everyone in the fandom, including actors and writers

im starting to get frustrated with all the hate going on going on. Especially because of character deaths and destiel. I really think some people need to take this post into consideration because im really aggravated by all the hate coming from our own fandom.
