there is definitely a problem here

Why do so many exclusionists try to speak for all exclusionists though when you point out nasty shit that’s frequently come from their crowd?

Like you’ll talk about a lot of ppl in this mess hating aces and aros, possibly even with concrete examples on that very post, and you could provide a ton of evidence if asked, and several ppl will go, “this isn’t true WE don’t hate aces/aros” and “WE’RE only saying x”

Like… if you honestly think people who share your stance on whether or not aces/aros are inherently LGBT+ can do no wrong, or that if you’ve not personally noticed a problem among said crowd it can not possibly be an issue at all and the many ppl talking about it must definitely be making it all up or be too clueless to understand what’s Actually Being Said, then…

Like, something really not good is going on here??

It’s really toxic and nasty to dismiss aces/aros talking about having been harmed by ppl you want to think highly of in the blink of an eye?? And to immediately start talking down to us??

ourheroictommo  asked:

I've seen a lot of larries bitching about Louis' team coz Louis' insta na me (louist91) doesn't correspond to his actual name and according to them that's 'bad for promo'. Correct me if I'm wrong but I actually don't see a problem here? I mean, Ed Sheeran's insta name is teddysphotos and that doesn't seem to get in a way of his promo in the slightest? Or are they so threatened that Louis insta name matches with Eleanor's (louist91 & eleanorj92)?

The last part, definitely the last part.

10 Things to learn to improve your tumblr experience.

1. Learn to post for yourself, and only for yourself. It doesn’t help anyone when you only post and reblog things because they are popular at the time. You may think people won’t notice, but your followers do. Never lie to yourself. Your blog is your own. Use it.

2. Learn that not every fight must be fought. Sometimes it’s easier to just step away from a problem that triggers you too much - and that’s absolutely okay. You don’t have to fight things that you don’t feel comfortable to fight. You are allowed to step away.

3. Learn that you cannot please everyone. As soon as you start to put yourself out there people will come at you. It doesn’t matter if you’re trying to be the nicest, informed, and open-minded towards everyone. You will always offend someone. When someone searches for something to attack you, let me tell you they will find something. You have to accept that not everyone can be pleased. It’s hard, but it’s reality.

4. Learn to ignore anon hate or hate in general. People who want to hate you will hate you. You cannot do anything against it. Breath. Delete. Go on. Those people are not worth your time.

5. Learn that it is okay to click away. Tumblr is loud about voicing opinions, shipping and social justice. Sometimes from people who are not as educated as they try to give the impression and search for any little nag to push limits. Don’t start a fight. It won’t do anything good here on tumblr. If you feel the need to do something against social injustice go out and do it yourself. Don’t do it behind a screen. It leads to nothing except hate and venom and people trying to gut each other out. If you read something that just riles you really up - be it about a series or a pairing or something social or whatever - just click away. It brings nothing. You will only feel more angered when the person answers and it will go back and forth and back and forth and - time you could use to do something else more productively. And with less stress.

6. Learn that your opinion =/= the opinion of someone else. You might like x pairing, while someone else thinks it is disgusting. Or the other way around. Learn to accept these things and leave it be. What good does it bring to try and force your opinion onto someone else? You’re not a dictator. Everyone is free to have their own opinion. Just like yourself.

7. Learn to respect people. Learn to respect artists and writers and - yes - edit makers too. Some people sit hours before their screens to produce something. They don’t write/draw/do edits for you - they share their stuff with you. If it is something you don’t like, just ignore it. Never tell them what they did wrong in your opinion - remember point 6. Your opinion is not theirs.

8. Learn that attacking someone =/= educating someone. If someone doesn’t know something or said something harmful in a post, don’t attack them immediately. Often these people are just not educated about the subject. Going into their askbox and leaving hateful, sometimes vile messages and calling them names or even threatening them will lead to nothing. If you really want to reach out to them try to send a polite message. Check their age. Most people who react like this are surprisingly young. If they block off and don’t want to be educated, no matter their age, there’s nothing you can do. Swallow your anger and click away. It’s not worth it. The real world still waits for you after you log off and hating on a stranger brings you nothing.

9. Learn that no one is perfect. Definitely not you. People make mistakes. Learn to forgive and move on. Holding a grudge brings only sorrow and misery.

10. Learn that tumblr is not the world. The real world is so much worse. Try to enjoy your time here instead of letting it ruin you.

So you want to write an autistic character.

Wait, what? Why would I do that?

I have two main answers to that question.

  • We exist! We’re part of natural human diversity! It is estimated that around 1% of people are autistic (and the number may be even higher). That may not sound like a lot, but 1% of 7.5 billion people is 75 million people! Which means that there are more autistic people than there are French people in the world. So if you want to write diverse characters, an autistic character is something to consider seriously!
  • Good, accurate representation of autistic people in media helps autism become more well-known by the general public. If people see us as humans when they read about good autistic characters in books, they are more likely to see us as humans when they come across one of us in the real world, and to treat us accordingly. So by writing an autistic character, you’re helping autistic people everywhere, in your own way.

OK, I’m convinced. But what is autism anyway?

Let’s start with what it is not! Autism is not a mental illness. This means this is not something you can somehow get later in life: you can start having depression at any stage in your life, but you are born autistic. Moreover, while depression and some other mental illness can be cured or be temporary, you are autistic for your whole life.

So what is it? It is considered a developmental disorder. This means that you born autistic, and that every stage of your development (baby-> toddler->child->teenager->adult->elderly person) is affected by autism, and will happen differently than that of a non-autistic person.

It is also considered a disability: there are things in of life that non-autistic people can do that are difficult or impossible for autistic people.

Finally, it is what we call a neurodivergence: this means that our brain is wired in a way that is different to that of most people. While it can make life harder for us in some regards, we are in no way lesser to non-autistic people, just different. We also have abilities and positive traits that others lack. And most the problems we encounter in our daily life are not because of autism per se, but because of a lack of awareness, understanding, and accommodations from others.

It is important to note here that autism is something that is still being researched,  and not everyone agrees with all of the above definitions, but we’ll get into this discussion in another post!

So tell me, what are autistic people like?

First of all, there is a very important thing to keep in mind: We are all different. We are all our own person, and we are just as diverse (or maybe even more so) than non-autistic people are. We all have a mix-and-match assortment of autistic traits, traits that are not typically autistic, and personal quirks. All of these can have different expressions, different intensities and different triggers depending on the person, but also on the context and on the moment. So there is not one way to be autistic, but as many ways as there are autistic people (that is, a lot.)

With that in mind, I will list here some common autistic traits that we will be expanding on in future posts: this may serve as a table of contents of sorts.

  • Difficulties with everything social: understanding social rules, understanding non-verbal cues and conversational rules, and using them correctly is very difficult for most of us. We often struggle with making friends and finding romantic partners.
  • Difficulties with typical communication: a lot of autistic people have trouble with communicating verbally (this includes sign language), and some are sometimes or always non-verbal. A lot of us prefer alternative means of communication such as typing. Even when we do talk, we may do so oddly.
  • Sensory differences: We can be hyper- or hypo-sensitive to different sensory inputs. This translates to a lot of us as struggling with things like loud noises, bright lights or being touched.
  • Stimming: You may often find us flapping our hands, rocking back and forth, twirling our fingers, playing with our hair, pacing… or even things like hitting our heads or biting ourselves.
  • Meltdowns and shutdowns: When we are very overwhelmed, we can have violent meltdowns which can include shouting, crying, and self-harming stims, or shutdowns in which we completely stop reacting and responding to our environment.
  • Special interests: Most of us have one or several topics which we are very, very interested in. They can change with time or be lifelong. We can spend hours researching such topics and talking about them. A special interest can look obsessive to outside observers.
  • Need for routine: We often need to have our days planned in advance following a routine, and we can be very upset if there is a sudden change to that routine or if something unplanned happens.
  • Executive dysfunction: Getting started on an activity, figuring out and following all the steps which it involves, switching activities and making decisions can all be difficult things for us.

There are other common autistic traits which we’ll talk about later, but these are the main ones.

This will be all for an introductory post. If you have any question, our ask-box is open!

Since we have our leaked/not really leaked Steven Bomb from the CN app, there’s obviously a lot to analyze. For this post I’m going to focus on the gem everyone’s been screaming about:

Aquamarine. And to be fair, the little blue gnat is pretty interesting.

We all knew her introduction as an innocent wasn’t going to last. Between the leaks and CN releasing all of the eps at once on the app, the effects this might have had was kind of lost. But it is worth noting that when things are going her way or someone has something she needs and she thinks she’s going to get it without a fight, she does revert back to her child like demeanor. Meaning that although she is far from innocent, her introduction truly was not an act on her part. That said, just like Navy, she is entirely aware of the effect her demeanor has on other people. So she uses it.

Oh no! You found us.

Unlike Navy, Aquamarine’s behavior surpasses conniving and borders on straight up evil. As far as I can remember, she’s been the only villain in the series to date that has to threatened to kill humans in any context- let alone use them as hostages.

Can you remind me… I mean my memory is perfect. But, our orders were to bring back six humans. I’m just not sure. Did they specify… alive? You know, I don’t think they did.

The people she’s threatening have done nothing to her. They place her in no actual danger. She straight up does not care one way or the other about the crystal gems. (actually no one from homeworld seems to care about the crystal gems aside from Rose Quartz, but that’s for another post) What she does care about is the fact that they’re standing in the way of an easy completion to her mission.

Which begs the question: if an agate terrifies, what the heck is an aquamarine supposed to do?

Her design and demeanor scream perfectly stuck up prefect on a power bender, but what is her role in gem society? Is she an investigator/ police officer or is she some kind of intergalactic dog catcher? Her powers are good for offence and defense. But as death threat happy as she is, her magic wand’s ability to capture and throw at great distances does not actually harm those she uses it against. It just serves its purpose: it either captures something she’s after, or gets rid of something that stands in her way.

That said, she has no problem ordering Topaz to inflict deadly force.

And then there’s this:

I know what you’re thinking Topaz. It seems a little suspicious that “my dad” is also a Steven. But you know… if it means getting out of here, I’ll believe it.

So here’s Aquamarine. She’s use to being both the most intelligent AND the most powerful person in any given situation. And what has it done? It’s made her lazy.

She knows as well as everyone there that Steven is definitely not “my dad”. And to be frank… she gives no fucks whatsoever. She thinks this is below her, and is willing to do as little work as possible to fulfill the minimum requirement of a task she was given.

Not to mention that once again, she’s placed the dirty work of this on Topaz. If she gets called out for this, she’s set it up so that Topaz will take the fall.

I would say that she’s intelligent enough to be aware of all these things, but she also doesn’t care about any of it.

And that will be her undoing.

Pluto Through the Houses of Astrology

Pluto is a generational planet, it takes a long time for it to transition into a different sign, it takes somewhere from 14-30 years, so it doesn’t take part in our daily life. Although, where it’s placed in the houses is far more important than the sign, because that changes by the hour. I will start off by explaining what exactly is Pluto? Well, Pluto is the co-ruler of the sign Scorpio. Now, we all know something about Scorpio ;) (hehehe) There are 5 main themes of Pluto. One is transformation, two is destruction, three is intensity, four is rebirth, and five is obsession. Pluto is also known to be the ruler of the underworld which can be very intimidating and powerful. He’s mentioned in many books, and my favorite mention of Pluto is Inferno by Dante Alighieri, where Plutus is the lord of the 4th Circle for those who are the Miserly or Prodigal, which means people who sinned by trying to control money and fortune were to be in the 4th Circle. As many of you may know, the 8th house rules other people’s money, due to Pluto being the ruler of that house along with Mars. Now that we’ve learned a few things about Pluto, I will explain what it means when it goes through each house!

Pluto in the 1st house: The 1st house is the house of your identity, public persona, first impression, personality, and physical appearance. So when Pluto is placed here, you can be a bit of an intense person because you come off as different from society, you don’t mind hanging in the shadows. Being in the public eye and having everyone know about you can annoy you a little. You change a lot, whether it’s weight, height, style, personality, so on. Each person thinks of you differently because of that. You can have a bit of a dark atmosphere hanging around you, and your eyes are hypnotic, demanding, and very powerful. You can seem a bit power hungry yourself, always trying to be in control. 1st house also represents the story of your birth, and early childhood. Your birth could’ve been painful, intense, and transformative for your mother. In your early childhood, there could’ve been a war in your birthplace, or some sort of deep conflict that later brought enlightenment.

Pipsqueak (Tom Holland x Reader)

Hello there, I just have to say I love your writing so much. I think you’re amazing, I was wondering if I could make a Tom Holland x Reader request? Where reader and Tom are dating but it’s like been for a month or so and reader is short and always has trouble reaching things and doing things. (I’m 4'10 so my short problems are real) and Tom just laughs but does help and keeps reminding reader how much he loves how short she is? I just really need some fluff at the moment :)

“Tommy? Come grab this for me, please?” you ask your boyfriend while standing on your tiptoes, pointing at the baking sheet on the top shelf. You’re baking cookies for Harrison because he just got cast in a short film. The celebration is in an hour and you really want to make him his favourite biscuits before you went. Tom steps forward and wraps one arm around your waist, his hand making contact with your uncovered midriff. You stop reaching towards the cupboard and choose to hug his arm against your body. His other arm reaches out and grabs the baking sheet before handing it to you. “Here you go, sweetness,” he whispers into your hair before stepping back. He retreats back to the couch, but not without pinching your bum first. You swat his hand away.

God, he thinks as he backs away while watching you, I love you.

*

“Babe! Where’d you put the movie?” you called out to Tom. “On the shelf above the TV!” he shouts back from the bedroom. You reach up to grab it but find yourself unable. Instead of struggling, you opt to grab a tall stool from the kitchen counter and to kneel on that. Tom walks in to see you standing on a wooden stool with your arm raised holding the movie out to him. He sighs happily at the sight before choosing to carry you off the stool to the couch. You squeal with laughter when he picks you up. He tosses you onto the cushioned couch and leans to kiss your forehead. Yup, you think as you pull him into a kiss, I definitely love this guy.

*

From that first day, you swear that Tom repeatedly places everything high up so you can’t reach. Your tea mugs have gradually moved from the lowest shelf to the second highest, the cereal lives on top of the fridge instead of on the counter beside it. Everything has moved so you can’t grab anything, and now you’re having family over for dinner. Your families are coming at quarter to six so you have to set the table while dinner is cooking.

The plates are on the highest shelf above your mugs. With a huff, you pull yourself up onto the counter. Kneeling there you can reach the plates. You hear a snort of laughter from behind you and you turn to see your boyfriend leaning in the doorway. “Not funny,” you mumble. He strolls over to place his hands either side of your knees. He laughs breathily and rests his forehead against the small of your back. “It’s kinda funny,” he tells you. “Well, you can laugh as you’re carrying plates.” “Can do, shortie.”

Your foot gently kicks his butt as he walks away and he can’t help but chuckle as he hears a muffled “Arsehole”.

*

“(Y/N)?” Harrison calls as he walks through the front door of your and Tom’s apartment. “In here!” you yell back from the living room. He walks in to see you standing on the back of the couch trying to grab something from above the doorway opposite you. The doorways in your apartment with Tom were obnoxiously tall which means you can’t reach, even will a chair underneath your feet. “Oy, get down from there! Tom will kill me if I was here when you broke your neck from falling,” he scolds. “He’s the one making me do it! He put my fucking keys on top of the doorframe!” At this, Harrison doubles over in laughter.

“I’d understand why,” he says, chuckling. “Why?” you ask. He snorts before replying cheekily, “well, I do have a really good view of your arse from here. It’s definitely not a bad sight.” That gets him a pillow chucked at his face.

I’m totally getting Tom back for this, you think with a smile on your face.

*

“Tom, this needs to stop. I can’t do anything around our house without getting on my tiptoes,” you berate Tom when he walks through the door. “I don’t see what the problem is,” he replies cheekily. “How’d you end up getting your keys?” At this comment, Harrison walks out from behind you into the hallway. Tom doubles over in laughter, “YOU CALLED HARRISON!” he shrieks amused. “Yeah, and apparently I have a nice arse,” you say and wink at Harrison. With that comment, Tom’s laughter dies and he begins to glare at his best friend. You turn to Harrison and get on your tiptoes to kiss his cheek. “Thanks, Haz. You were a big help, today.” Let’s just say Tom was a bit mad at the both of you for a few days.

*

You’ve gotten used to the height of everything by now. You’ve mastered counter climbing as well as chair mounting. Tom can’t help but smile lovingly when he sees your daily conquests to get a tea mug or the cereal box. He likes to watch when you stand on a stool and reach up because his large t-shirts you sleep in ride up your thigh. When you go to grab your jacket from the back of the front door, you instinctively kick your leg up. He doesn’t think he has seen anything better, though, than when you stand on his feet on your tiptoes just to lay a loving kiss to his lips.

“Babe,” he says finally. It’s a Sunday morning and you’re both in lying bed. You hum to acknowledge him. “I love you,” he whispers into your hair, “so, so much.” “I love you too, superhero.”

I love you more, he thinks.

“No, you don’t,” you tell him, still facing away from him.

“What?” he questions.

You turn to face him and snuggle into the pillow before grabbing his hand and wrapping it around your waist.“I can tell right there you were thinking ‘Oh I love you more, though’. But you don’t. It’s a fact.”

He giggles and tells you, “But I do, though. I love you to infinity.”

“Yeah?” You ask.

“Yeah,” he tells you sincerely; a loving look in his eyes.

When you say, “Well, I love you infinity plus two.” He can’t help but laugh.

Who you are doesn’t matter.

“Mary Morstan”, Murderer, Gaslighter, and Abuser (The Final Problem)

Gaslighting: a definition:

A form of abuse that centres around destabilising the victim’s perception of reality and devalues said person’s experiences and feelings. This can be done in private or in front of other parties. In the latter case, the victim is also humiliated and devalued in front of someone else.

Typical statements of gaslighting:

Victim: I’m cold.
Gaslighter: It’s not cold in here.

Victim: It’s been about fifteen minutes.
Gaslighter: No it hasn’t. It’s only been three minutes.

Victim: I’m really upset about this!
Gaslighter: No you’re not.

Gaslighter: It doesn’t matter how you feel. It doesn’t matter what you want. Who you are doesn’t matter. What you perceive isn’t real.

Mary gaslights John in the majority of their canonical interactions. I’ve posted about this before, but their opening scene in HLV is classic gaslighting.

John: Look, is it Sherlock Holmes you want? Because I’ve not seen him in ages.
Mary: About a month.

Correcting his perceptions in front of a third party.

Kate: Who’s Sherlock Holmes?
Mary: (To John): See? That does happen.

And again.

Mary: Seriously?
John: Why not? She’s not going to the police. Someone’s got to get him.
Mary: Why you?
John: I’m being neighbourly.
Mary: Since when?

Questioning his motives. Then there’s this lovely bit:

Mary: Why are you being so…
John (while physically trying to leave the scene): What?
Mary: I don’t know. What’s the matter with you?
John (yelling): There is nothing the matter with me. Imagine I said that without shouting.
Mary: I’m trying.

Now Mary has belittled John to the point of anger, leading to him attempting to leave the scene, and with her last line here, makes it seem as though John is the aggressor. That’s another classic move. She hasn’t succeeded in getting him to apologise yet, but that’s the eventual aim: to make John feel as though he was in the wrong all along. Then Mary makes it clear that John isn’t going to be permitted to leave without her and tries to expressly forbid him from going. He gives in and Mary not only comes, but drives - she takes over. If that isn’t enough, she then points and laughs at the tyre lever John gets out of the trunk.

Mary: What is that??
John: It’s a tyre lever.
Mary: Why?

Why indeed, Mary? Why would John Watson want to arm himself upon going into a smack house? Why ask that, except to belittle John still more, make him feel ridiculous? This behaviour continues throughout Mary’s actual life. She doesn’t feel, upon having shot John’s best friend in the heart, any need to apologise, and she feels completely justified in castigating John over not having spoken to her in months (again, the aggressor turning the tables on the victim here). She refers to John and Sherlock as a dog and a pig at various times. She insinuates that their friendship is only possible with her there to broker it. She traps John into a pregnancy that was clearly a surprise to him. She uses her own death scene to manipulate John into feeling guilty, citing that her alias of “Mary Morstan” was her favourite one ever, while still owning ninja assassin outfits, firearms, and drug-infused papers like a Cold War spy. She literally tells Sherlock to get himself killed or kill himself, “go to hell, Sherlock”, she snarls in a video that magically pre-dates her death.

“Go to hell, Sherlock.” - “Mary Morstan”, The Six Thatchers

And now, not only does Mary Morstan claim credit for having “created” a friendship that managed to survive despite everything she did to them both, but the creators of this monstrous character have validated it, as @constancecream posted here. Who they are doesn’t matter. Who they were before Mary ever came into their lives doesn’t matter. They’re whatever she says they are. The creators are gaslighting the audience through their precious ninja assassin/mommy in turned-up jeans/Mary Sue.

We observed: a woman who shot Sherlock in the heart, who lied to John from start to finish, who uses gaslighting and reverse psychology (”if you read it, you won’t love me anymore”) to bend him to her will. We were told that consequences don’t matter when you’re Mary Morstan; they only matter when you’re Sherlock Holmes. We were told that Sherlock and John being on the side of the angels doesn’t matter when it comes to the women they “need” to be with - someone who murders for personal gain, and an employee of Moriarty’s who betrayed her nation for personal benefit. We were told that being evil only matters if you’re male; otherwise it’s sexy or cute or both. We were told that our observations were wrong: Mary was never a villain - hey, nobody’s perfect! Mr & Mrs Psychopath it is! This isn’t the only place they did this to us. We were shown a tarmac scene so starkly sober and heartbreaking that we barely batted an eyelash at Moriarty’s seeming return. And then they told us it was all a silly drug trip, whee, are those ginger nuts????, and it left a flat taste in our mouths. Because we were told that what we saw wasn’t what we had really seen after all.

What we saw isn’t what we saw. What we observed doesn’t matter. Who Mary really is doesn’t matter. Who Sherlock and John already were doesn’t matter. Listen to nothing but Mary’s voice; that’s all that matters.

They gaslit us.

Jungkook Soulmate AU (Angst)

Summary: After regaining some of your memories, you and Jungkook finally face the truth.

When Jieun came home, she found you sitting on the floor. Your eyes were red, but your tears had dried long ago. Jieun regarded your blank expression with concern, immediately dropping to the ground to check on you.

“Y/N, what’s wrong?” Jieun asked frantically, looking at your body for injuries. “Did you hurt your leg again? Why are you crying?”

You sighed and closed your eyes, feeling more tired than upset. Jieun’s flittering hands stilled, as if she sensed that something was off.

“Y/N?”

“I remember now, Jieun,” you said. “I remember what happen that night, and what happened after. I know that you and Jungkook were a thing, and that he rejected me right away.”

“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner,” Jieun whispered, her own eyes watering. “I didn’t want to upset you or confuse you. It hurt you so much the first time, I didn’t want to see you go through it again.”

“I just don’t understand,” you replied, your voice strained with frustration. “Did you like him? Do you still like him? Is that why you tried to hide your relationship with him from me?”

“What? No! No, of course not,” Jieun exclaimed, her eyes widening with surprise. “I mean, I did have a bit of a crush on him, but our relationship was just physical. It ended as soon as you two figured out that you’re…you know, soulmates.”

“But I’m still confused,” you said, trying to hold off another wave of tears. “Jungkook said he wanted nothing to do me. But now he’s so sweet. He’s like two different people, and I don’t know which one is the real him.”

“Just talk to him,” Jieun smiled, rubbing your back gently. “He’s not as bad as you remember. I’m sure the person Jungkook is with you now is the person he wishes he was when you first met.”

“Still, why was he so cruel in the beginning?” you asked helplessly. “I don’t know if I can forgive that.”

“Only Jungkook can answer that,” Jieun replied softly. “Promise me you’ll talk to him, okay?”

You nodded, realizing that Jieun knew much more than she let on. She helped you to your feet and led you back to the couch. You decided you wouldn’t press her for more information, because in the end, you would need to talk to Jungkook eventually.

Even though you had decided to talk to Jungkook, you hadn’t been able to muster enough courage to confront him. He had no idea that you had regained your memories, so he was contacting you like usual. But when you picked up your phone to reply, the events of your first encounter flashed before your eyes. Every time that happened, you put your phone down and tried to ignore your heavy heart.

So, to put it simply, you had been ignoring Jungkook for the past week.

You had several unread messages in your inbox from Jungkook. Surely Jungkook was so popular, he wasn’t used to be ignored. The texts started coming less frequently, and you wondered if they would eventually stop all together. You figured–albeit guiltily–that if Jungkook really wanted company, he could find another girl.

One Thursday afternoon, you were reading through some notes sent to you by a classmate when you heard Jungkook’s thoughts whispering in the back of your head. You jumped, growing unaccustomed to your soulmate’s presence after such a long period of silence.

“Why isn’t she talking to me?” Jungkook thought, and although it was quiet in your mind, you could hear the worry in your voice. Your heart panged, and you felt bad for assuming the worst of Jungkook. Clearly, he was still thinking of you. “Did I do something wrong again?”

Again.

No, not again. The first mistake was hurtful enough. But of course, Jungkook had no idea that you remembered what he had done. You wanted to scream at him–make him hurt as much as he had hurt you. But you also just wanted to see him again, because you had grown to love the caring side of Jungkook that he had shown you.

“Maybe her condition got worse,” came Jungkook’s next thought, which sounded even more alarmed than the last. “I should stop by. Yeah–I’ll go after class.”

You jumped to your feet, wavering as you tried to catch your balance. Reaching out for your crutches, you hobbled out of your room and into the living room, where Jieun was playing guitar.

“Jieun!” you screeched, making her jump.

“Oh my god!” Jieun squealed, placing a hand over her heart dramatically. “Why are you screaming at me?”

“Jungkook’s coming here after his class is over,” you hurried to explain, your words overlapping in your haste. Still, Jieun understood what you were trying to say.

“Oh, so do you need me to leave?” Jieun asked, setting aside her guitar. “I can disappear for an hour or two.”

“No, no! Definitely do not leave,” you squeaked desperately. “I’m not ready to see him! I need you to cover for me. Tell him that I’m not home and that I forgot my phone here.”

“What? Y/N, are you avoiding him?” Jieun demanded, her face growing dark. “You promised me that you would talk to him! Ignoring your problems won’t make them go away.”

“I know, I know!” you replied. “And I will talk to him, but I’m just not ready yet. I need time to process everything so that I can face him properly. I don’t want to get upset and ruin things forever.”

Jieun’s face softened at your obvious fear, and she sighed. “I understand why you’re scared, but you should trust Jungkook a little bit too,” she argued. “He’s shown you that he’s a good guy, right? I get why you’re so hesitant, believe me. But I’m also seeing this from Jungkook’s perspective, too.”

“You’re my friend, be on my side!” you whined. Jieun rolled her eyes at you.

“Okay, don’t do that. I’m doing what’s best for you,” Jieun said. “Even though you don’t want to talk to him now, in the long run, you’ll be thanking me for making you two work out your problems.”

“I’ll thank you even more if you cover for me this one time,” you said, on the borderline of begging. “I swear I’ll talk to him after, Jieun! I just need a little more time. I’m really not ready to see Jungkook.”

“Fine,” Jieun sighed, falling back onto the couch in frustration. “I’ll cover for you this one time. You can go hide in your room or whatever.”

“Thank you so much, Jieun!” you cried. “I love you so much! You’re the best.”

“I know,” Jieun laughed. “And I’m assuming you ignored all of Jungkook’s attempts to contact you up until now?”

You looked away guiltily.

When Jungkook knocked on the door, you were hiding in your room. Your bedroom door was left slightly ajar, so if you peeked through, you could see the foyer. Jieun approached it, glaring at you as she did. You sent her a thankful smile.

Jieun opened the door, but you couldn’t see Jungkook.

“Oh, Jieun,” Jungkook said. You missed the sound of his sweet voice–you could admit that. “Is Y/N around? I haven’t heard from her since I saw her last week.”

“No, she’s not around,” Jieun replied easily. “Y/N had to spend the week with her grandparents, because they got really worried when they heard about the accident. And she was dumb enough to leave her phone at home.”

“Oh,” Jungkook said, sounding surprised. It sounded like a valid excuse, and you were a little shocked that Jieun was so good at lying. “I’m surprised she didn’t tell me earlier.”

“It’s because she didn’t know that she would be leaving until her grandparents showed up,” Jieun answered. She continued a bit sheepishly, “Actually, I was supposed to tell you that she would be out of town. I guess I forgot.”

“Yeah, guess you did,” Jungkook replied dryly. Jieun just shrugged and sent him a carefree smile. “When will she be back?”

“Sometime next week,” Jieun said. You gulped, realizing that she was giving you a deadline.

“Alright,” Jungkook said slowly. He sounded like he was getting ready to leave. “Thanks, I guess.”

Jieun began to close the door slowly. You exhaled in relief, feeling your body deflate. I can’t believe that worked, you thought. Jieun should have been an actress.

“What the fuck?” Jungkook’s voice suddenly thundered. Jieun jumped, backing away from the door. Jungkook burst through the foyer. “Why are you lying to me?”

“W-what are you talking about?” Jieun stammered.

“Y/N, where are you?” Jungkook called out, ignoring Jieun completely. “I know you’re here. I can hear you thinking right now.”

Oh shit.

“Yeah, oh shit is right,” Jungkook snorted. He scanned the apartment, finally settling on your bedroom door. He saw your face peeking through, and he smiled slightly and began to approach you.

Accepting your fate, you pulled yourself to your feet and opened the door, clutching the doorframe for support.

“Why are you avoiding me?” Jungkook asked once he stood in front of you, the hurt clear in his downtrodden expression. “Did I do something to upset you?”

“Yeah, you did,” you replied tiredly.

“What was it?” Jungkook questioned, confused. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt you, if I did. I thought you had a good time with me last week.”

“I did,” you smiled. “You’ve been really great since the hospital. You helped me a lot, and you’re fun to be around.”

“Then what’s the problem?” Jungkook asked, cocking his head adorably in confusion.

“It’s what happened before then,” you said simply.

Jungkook paled, his mouth opening slightly. His eyes lowered, and you could see his jaw clenching. He stood there quietly for a few moments, but eventually, he tentatively lifted his gaze to meet yours.

“You remember everything,” Jungkook said quietly. It wasn’t a question. He was biting his lip nervously, and you wondered why he was the nervous one when it was you who had been deceived all along.

“Not everything, but I remember enough,” you responded. You broke your eye contact with Jungkook, feeling overwhelmed. “I don’t understand you at all, Jungkook. Why are being so nice now?”

“It’s…it’s a really long story,” Jungkook sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “I can’t justify what I did, but if it means anything to you, I regret everything that happened that night. I didn’t mean a word I said.”

“Then why did you say what you did?”

“Like I said, it’s a long story,” Jungkook replied. “I can explain it to you if you’re willing to listen. I’ll tell you everything, I promise. And if you don’t want to see me after this, I won’t bother you ever again.”

“How do I know that what you’re saying is the truth?” you asked, looking at Jungkook for any signs of deceit.

“You’ll just have to trust me.”

You almost laughed–how could you trust him so easily again? But you remembered the boy who  had slept by your bedside in the hospital, and the boy who acted like you were the most interesting thing in the world. The boy who had promised to sing to you.

“Fine, I’ll listen,” you breathed.

‘Do you really think this is a good idea Jug?’ I’d never felt so out of place. I peered into the window of Pop’s Diner, it was straight out of the 50s. Not a place I’d expect Jughead to frequent. My leather jacket stuck out like a sore thumb as Jughead practically dragged me in. An old man behind the counter, the famous Pop I presumed, greeted Jughead instantly.

‘Usual order Jughead?’

‘Make it for two tonight Pop.’ He nodded back to me, I gave a little wave. He didn’t seem phased by our Southside appearance unlike the rest of the diner. I could feel daggers on me from every angle as we walked over to a booth. Jughead acted coolly, barely taking in all the passing glances. I drummed on the table anxiously.

‘Y/n, you need to calm down.’ He said, grabbing my hands to set them still on the table.

‘Sorry but I can already hear everyone gossiping in here, who’s to say your friends aren’t gonna do the same?’ I had to be honest with Jug, he was a serpent now and there were no secrets between the serpents. Well maybe one.

‘They’re different, they know I’m a serpent now and they know why I chose this path. If they have a problem, they’ve definitely kept it to themselves. They know the serpents are the only family I’ve got now.’ I twitched at the word ‘family’. You weren’t meant to have romantic feelings for your ‘family’.

The bell of the door rang and in walked Jughead’s other gang. A broad shouldered redhead came first, he wore a blazing letterman jacket and had his arm around a black haired girl, her dress looked expensive and she was even wearing heels. That would be Archie and Veronica, Riverdale’s latest sweethearts, I remembered Jughead mention. Behind them, came the beautiful blonde. Her hair was in her signature high ponytail, her face beaming as she got closer to us. She wore a white summer dress and a pastel yellow cardigan on top. While that outfit would usually make me gag, she made it look flawless. If this is what I was up against, I was screwed.

Do you take prompt? What about Stiles having a secret crush on Derek but when saw him, taking care Scott's son, he fell in love.

I’m not much of a kid fic person, so this took me a while, but I tried. Hopefully it’s kind of what you were angling for!

*

“Do you think I’m ready for fatherhood?” Stiles asks, trying to keep the panic out of his voice. He’s not freaking out about this. He’s not.

Boyd says flatly, “Stilinski, you’re twenty-one years old. You’re supposed to know how to use a condom by now.“

Stiles’ hand spasms and he accidentally squirts a huge glob of ketchup on his mound of curly fries. Fuck. He has the ideal ketchup-to-curly-fry ratio down to a science, and this is not it. “No, absolutely not what I meant. It’s just. Did you know Derek had a kid?”

Boyd meditatively takes a bite of his burger. “No. But the nice thing about Derek is that he doesn’t go in for personal talk.”

Stiles shoots him a weird look. Of course Boyd would think that was nice. Stiles, though, has been trying to break down Derek’s walls even just a little bit for months now—sitting with him in class, sharing his notes, studying with him in the library and getting late-night waffles together afterwards, little by little pulling Derek out of his shell. He’d thought he was getting somewhere, but obviously not, not if Derek failed to mention this kid even existed.

Which he does. Stiles knows, because he can see him right now, over by Prof. Martin’s pool. Apparently his name is Jamie.

anonymous asked:

Why do you think Jake was running away from Dirk and complaining about him? I just can't imagine what was happening in his head to do such things, also I have a hard time believing that Jake loves Dirk romantically although I want to. I've been reading your analysis and I'm still not sure.

So remember when this was going on:

While Grandpa was off doing…fucking this:

Jake’s fundamental problem is the same as Grandpa’s: Escapism. In Grandpa, that misery and desire for escapism seems to grow into outright delusion–the guy seems plain old not that in touch with reality.

That’s how Jake operates when he has problems he doesn’t like and he doesn’t want to do better. Jake runs away because Dirk is needy and suffocating–the dude ain’t perfect, and he’s not any better at talking about his problems than Jake is because he likes to pretend they don’t exist by subsuming them into his (fake as shit) hypercapable persona.

But Dirk was needy and suffocating in the first place at least partly because Jake had already hurt his feelings pretty badly several times over, and led Dirk to believe he was most likely straight. Jake is aware of this!

But Jake would, in all things, prefer to resolve his conflicts in a way that doesn’t require him to acknowledge or address any way he might have possibly fucked up or hurt his friend’s feelings. That’s why neither of them can make actual progress on improving their relationship–Jake is as willfully ignorant about the core of their issues as Dirk is willfully burying them to keep up his front. And neither of them will likely talk about how Jake really felt about Brobot or about the whole AR situation for that exact same reason. Jake is busy immediately trying to forget any of that existed or could, in fact, have been parsed as a problem. Dirk is terrified of hearing Jake’s real answer.

My friend Sburb (who I mysteriously can’t tag?? sorry about that) made a really good point about Jake’s planet–Xenon. Xenon can be used as an anesthetic, numbing one’s perception of the world, and that lines up with Jake’s modus operandi perfectly. It’s not that Jake doesn’t like Dirk, but that he is deeply terrified of confrontation and numbs himself to any possibility that may require it. Like, it’s no mistake that Jake’s innate sense of happiness and ignorance ramp up in intensity PRECISELY to match the most depressing thing he’s confronted with–Erisolsprite. Jake knows how miserable and angry Erisol is on some level, but acknowledging that would be really sad and require Jake to do something probably uncomfortable! So he doesn’t, and he pretends there isn’t a problem instead. Like. Really aggressively.

After like SIX MONTHS of enjoying Dirk’s company despite all these issues on BOTH their ends, long past the point when people who weren’t teenagers who don’t know what they’re doing would have sat down and said “Ok there’s definitely a problem here, let’s talk about it,”–yeah, all these underlying problems stress Dirk out enough that he gets to be too much for Jake and he runs away. Where he goes right on thinking about Dirk all the time, subjecting Jane to long rambles about him, and when Caliborn comes calling Jake spends his time making comments like this:

Which is A) Trolling Caliborn to some extent and really fucking funny, I love you Jake, B) Indication that Jake is now a lot more comfortable positioning himself as mlm than he was when talking to Jane, and C) That last one is obviously a reference to Dirk that Jake is making intentionally. Jake is, again, sharper than he’s given credit for. He knows what classpects are and he’s spent six months in a session where there’s exactly four of them. Even while running away, Jake is still making comments about Dirk that would absolutely be flirting if he were talking to the guy himself, and still largely thinking positively about him.

Jake running away doesn’t reflect his feelings for Dirk. It reflects his obsessive need to avoid confrontation, and his willingness to believe anything he can tell himself to avoid it.

Haikyuu!! Fic Recs

No one asked for this, but I’ve been slouching for a while and wanted to be forgiven by actually doing a little bit of haikyuu-related work. So I scrolled through my ao3 history and picked some of my favourites fics of all times. Peachy. This is not all of my favourites, just a few really. I’ll probably post more of these posts, cause I read a shittons of fanfics, and some are really worth sharing. Hope you enjoy it! ~

Part 1 - Part 2

Murder Time by kirsch-tein - 16k words, rated M, Completed, pairings: almost iwaoi, kagehina, daisuga, tsukkiyama, tsukkinoya, asanoya, ennotana, semitendou, ukatake

It’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever read. Had me laughing for days, really! Basically, in a college au, it’s a bloody murder night and no one’s safe.

Against All Odds by SharkbaitSekki - 93k words, rated T, Completed, pairings: iwaoi, daisuga

I periodically go back reading this cause it’s so perfect! A Single Dad Au in which Kuroo, Bokuto, Daichi and Oikawa have to deals with all the joys and problems (lots of problems really!) that comes with a single-parenthood.

What Are the Chances? by jellyfish_kuchen -60k words, rated E, Completed, pairings: iwaoi, daisuga, bokuaka, kuroken

Top best ingredients here! Figure skater Akaashi, deals with some family drama, an obnoxious and buff hockey player Bokuto, babysit his adorable nephew Shouyou and other things I don’t want to spoil. ~ One of my favourites, definitely. And I don’t know if it could be triggering to you, but better safe than sorry, there’s some homophobia here from some characters. And some well written smut. Also,it’s part of a series, and that’s always a plus to me!

Of Monsters and Men by shions_heart -220k words, rated M, Completed, pairings: iwaoi, kuroken, bokuaka, and lots of other side pairings, which includes some queerplatonic bokuakakuroken (SCREAMING HERE)

Settled in a Demons/Magic/Faeries Au, Oikawa, an half-demon goes to Aoba Johsai’s School for Hunters with his best friend Iwa-chan. Shit happens here and there, and suddenly the world is on the verge of falling in the hands of the Demon King himself. A really good fic with drama, lots of blood, magic, and great setting. I really thrive on some quality AUs. trigger warnings: temporary character death, some smut.

We call her Harley Queen by Smokey310 - 8k words, rated T, Completed, pairings: kurotsukki, side kagehina, yamayachi, and bokuaka

When I read this fic I started wheezing on the bus cause I was laughing too much. This whole series had me laughing for days, really. It’s one of the best thing I’ve ever read! It has everything I could ask for: lots of jokes, embarrassing situations, dorks being dorks, and a bird mating call that is “shit shit shit shit”. Also, part of a series, so kudos!

Daredevil on a slope by Smokey 310- 124k words, rated M, Completed, pairings: kurotsukki, bokuaka, BOKUKUROAKATSUKKI

Winter chalet, shenanigans on snow, Akiteru and Saeko being the best, and most of all BOKUKUROAKATSUKKI This fic had my polyships sense tingling. And also wheezed again on the bus from laughing. Part of the same series as “We call her Harley Queen”.

Insomnia

This was requested sometime back. I’m not too thrilled with it, but it wasn’t going to get much better than this. I had something else written, but decided to write about something I had personal experience with instead. Thank you all for your patience and for reading!

The blaring horn sound of Shawn’s alarm echoed through the bus, letting me know that it was seven in the morning. I didn’t move, continuing to stare at the ceiling of the back room which I had been doing for the past two hours. I was exhausted, mentally and physically, yet sleep seemed content with skipping over me the last three nights. It was my first-time visiting Shawn on tour and from night one, it was a disaster.

I had been sick before I’d even arrived. I had a cough that just wouldn’t go away and it peaked the second day I was here. Shawn took me to Urgent Care without hesitation as I was wheezing and could hardly breathe. After a chest x-ray, it was confirmed that I had a mild case of Walking Pneumonia. I was given a breathing treatment, steroids, antibiotics, an inhaler, and extremely potent cough syrup and sent on my way.
