How about a bit of Alex falling for the farmer from afar after seeing how nice they are to Evelyn?
His grandmother invited many people over to dinner, so this was nothing new. Normally, he would awkwardly sit through the food part, and excuse himself after. He didn’t really like guests. He was like his grandfather in that way.
But this time was different. It was that new Farmer. Alex thought it was going to be the same, but she brought a whole basket of food. Fresh vegetables and fruits and pickles and jams and even a bottle of wine. Fresh maple syrup and milk and eggs. There were so many good things, Alex was in awe. He have never been down to the farm, but was all of this being grown there? She even brought over his grandfather’s favorite food.
His grandmother would never admit it, but the food really helped. This was enough food for them for a week, and that really helped with the money. They refused to shop at Joja, because it was so unhealthy, but it was more expensive at Pierre’s. Having fresh food would help them out so much.
The dinner was amazing, his grandmother and the Farmer talking about cooking and her amazing cookies. Alex stayed the whole time. He wasn’t super interested in cooking, but there was something so attractive about a person talking about what they are passionate about.
As the Farmer left, Alex ran out and stopped them.
“Hey, thanks for all the food,” He said.
“No problem. I’m glad I can get rid of it, honestly. It’s so much for one person.” She had a bright smile that seemed to light up the dark night sky.
“We should… We should hang out some time,” He said.
“Totes. See ya around!” The Farmer waved at him, walking off into the dark.
Alex felt his heart flip.
