My little prince, Theodore, turns 1 today! I don’t know what I’d do without this boy. He’s the sweetest and keeps me happy and sane haha. He sleeps with us every night. Usually curled up on or beside my chest. 😭
I made him a little party hat out of craft paper and his cake is tuna, flour, and egg white. (Don’t worry, the candle flame was photoshopped in.) I didn’t get a ton of photos where he was looking at the camera 😂 I’m pretending he is regally looking off into the distance, but in reality, he was distracted by the crows and then the tuna. 😂🤷🏻♀️
13.06.17 || I am surrounded by cue cards and furry friends and I wouldn’t have it any other way. My last exam is tomorrow and to be honest I am so over uni at the moment. I guess this is what happens when you do an intense year that means a lot, I just gotta keep reminding myself that in 5 months I’ll be on a plane to new zealand and hopefully onto the rest of the world. I was told in my third year (when I had my I don’t really want to do psychology crisis) to not do fourth year unless I was really invested and really wanted to continue on in post-grad or do something that I 100% needed the extra year for. I now understand. There’s no way I would’ve been able to do this last year. I took a year off, did something else and in the process rekindled my love for all things psychology. I think my point is, if you don’t like your course, your major, or your life, you do have the ability to change it. Your parents will maybe get annoyed that you’re spending so much time at uni (mine are, to the point they just don’t ask anymore because my plan is another three years minimum) but you are your own person. I get everyone is in different circumstances but the genuine people around you only want to see you happy and if that means finishing a degree to start another one, only after a year to go back and continue on from the first one then do it! Change is scary, but so is going through your limited years doing something that you don’t want to do.
03.03.17 || I am having a “why did I ever think I would want to be a clinician” moment. Give me all the statistics and none of the assessment of people please. I have six units this year, four are research based and the other two are clinical based. I am already hating psychological assessment and the next trimester one is case management which sounds about as fun as watching paint dry.
It was 3 am
in the morning as you wake up from a sound coming from the hallway. Your first
thought was that your cat, Theodore, knocked something off again – he is oddly
active during the night. However, you saw Theodore sleeping deeply on the end
of your bed, his grey fur looking soft in the moonlight.
the sound again, a little more clearly now. Curious to find out what it is, you
step out of your bed, onto the cold wooden floors of your apartment, and put on
a sweater. You walk to the hallway – on your tiptoes, trying not to get your
feet too cold – to see where the sound came from. It only could be one thing,
really, and even at 3 am in the morning, woken from a deep sleep, you recognise
it. The rhythm of the sound is very specific – only one person who knocks on
your door like that.
have to look through the peephole anymore – you open the door immediately.
a deep, tired voice said to you.
it’s 3 am. What’s wrong?” you ask him. He is still wearing his suit – and
the cardigan of course.
really, I’m fine.” You can see the bags under his eyes, they started
appearing at the beginning of this week. You weren’t convinced he was okay at

tired – he looked like a completely different man.
couldn’t sleep, and I didn’t know what to do,” he said. He looked so
helpless in the faint light, and you had to hold yourself back not to pull him
in for a tight hug. You hear Theo’s little paws ticking on the floor and
immediately he wraps himself around Jason’s ankles. He bows down to rub behind
Theo’s ears. “I couldn’t think of anything else to do but to come to
you,” he continues.
Jason,” you let out under your breath. You sigh deeply and put your hand
on his arm. You look into his eyes and cup his face with your other hand.
“Let’s get you to bed, then,” you whisper. You take his hand and
guide him to your bedroom. As you take off your sweater, Jason sits down on
your bed to take off his shoes and socks. You help him out of his suit, folding
them a little and putting them down on the chair in the corner of your room.
making himself comfortable in your bed, cuddling with Theo, holding him on his
bare chest. As you turn around, you see them lying in your bed and you can’t
help but smile to yourself. You get in bed as well now, lying on your side
“It’s all going to be okay,” you whisper to him as you
caress the side of his face, running your fingers through his hair. He sighs
deeply at the sensation of your fingers on his skin, closing his eyes and

gets slower, more steady, and he looks so peaceful.
“It’s all going to be
okay,” you repeat, taking off his pair of glasses and putting it on the
night stand beside you. Bull’s fingers are caressing Theo’s fur, and you can’t
help but feel a little jealous of it. It is as if Bull reads your thoughts – he
opens his eye shortly, smiling at you, and places one of his hands on the side
of your face, his thumb on your lips.
“Thank you,” he whispers, as he
closes his eyes again and sighs deeply. You spend the rest of your night like
this – caressing his face, watching over him as he finally gets some sleep.
