First of all, if you guys have not watched BBC's Sherlock, GO WATCH IT. It’s so clever and cool and great and it’s one of my favorite shows.

Second of all, if you are unfamiliar with geothebio then you need to go check out the fantastic art and comics and such that she makes. They are highly entertaining and worth a look!

Anywaaaaay, these are depictions of her Sherlock and John comic characters. I made the wallpaper design, Sherlock, and John by making nail decals using a technique similar to this one from Nail Nerd. They were trickier to work with than I expected, but at least I got it to work in the end! What do you guys think?

Yes, I’ve become a huge Doctor Who fan in the past 6 months or so. I’m almost caught up… I just really enjoy all the dynamics of the show!

Anyway, enough of the wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey-ness… What better to combine with galaxies than the TARDIS?! I tried to do the DW logo from the most recent series on my other thumb but… it kinda needs work. Still, these were great and fun and I loved them! FANTASTIC! ALLONS-Y! GERONIMO!

August 8th (wow I’m so behind) was the birthday of Terry Nation, creator of the Daleks from Doctor Who. In celebration, there was a bit of an “Extermageddon” on Tumblr, although I haven’t been online much lately. This was my attempt at some simple but cool nail art, and I was super happy with the result! I didn’t want to take them off!!! And yes, I managed to fit all ELEVEN letters of “EXTERMINATE” across my thumb, so you should be impressed. Happy belated birthday, Terry.

“I don’t believe it… I’m on SOMEONE’S NAIL ART!!! YAY!!!”

I love Mike Wazowski. I love him an awful lot. So obviously when Monsters University came out in theaters I went to see his cute awkward self on the big screen (and on my nails, complete with retainer!). I loved the movie, and I highly suggest going to see it if you haven’t already.

Colors Used: Sinful Colors Innocent, Sinful Colors Exotic Green, Sinful Colors Snow Me White, Sinful Colors Black on Black, Sinful Colors Gorgeous (for his big beautiful eye), Essie Go Overboard (again, for his eye), Essie No Place Like Chrome

Just kidding, I know this is Mordor! Pffft…

My friend Kyle had never seen the Lord of the Rings movies, so we had a marathon a few weeks ago… except we only made it through The Two Towers because we were (of course) watching the Extended Editions and couldn’t stay awake for The Return of the King. BUT IT WAS SO FUN! To get in the Middle Earth mood, I put the Eye of Sauron and Mordor (complete with Mount Doom and Barad Dur) on my nails. Yay!

Ancient Greece

Everybody thinks of Ancient Greece as dusty and plain, but actually all the statues we see now were once brightly colored and vivid and beautiful. So I took that brightness and made an iconic wave design, then partially stamped with an image from Winstonia stamping plate 112. I’m really getting the hang of stamping, by the way. It’s tricky but rewarding when you get it right!

I don’t know about you guys, but platypi are really awesome. And no, I don’t care that the correct term is ‘platypuses’ because that’s lame. Anyway, enjoy this girl (not a guy cuz no heel spurs) swimming through a grassy river. Yay!

Nah, I’m kidding, no Ring of Fire challenge necessary to enjoy these tiki nails. I got the idea from these nails by pinkflyingcow87, but simplified it a bit since I didn’t have a bunch of time to do them. Super awesome tropical fun!

Part 4 of 4

So this is how I keep all my stuff. It works really well and it’s pretty compact, considering I have so much! It’s (you guessed it) just a tool box I got from Home Depot, with some pencil box containers from Hobby Lobby. The top part detaches and underneath is a big space - that’s where I keep all of my regular polishes, sorted by color. In the top is where I keep the majority of the glitter polishes, the special effects polishes, holos, etc. along with all of my tools and miscellaneous nail art accessories. I keep all my brushes/dotting tools/nail art pens in a Brave pencil case because, let’s face it, Brave is awesome. And as for my swatches, I don’t really like having them in a ring/rod because it makes it kinda difficult to add to them and it takes up more space than necessary, so I repurposed a Pizza Pringles can instead!

So what do all think? Is there anything I should ABSOLUTELY have that I don’t already? What are your opinions on my stash?

Ah, the ever-classic sunset gradient! I’ve never done this color combination before and I gotta say, I REALLY like it! Plus the extra little details like the birds and the palm tree just bring the scene to life. So relaxing and so simple!

Summer tiiiiime and the livin’ is easy…

It’s been hotter than blazes at home lately. I had to sit (along with hundreds of other people) in 106°F heat to watch my youngest brother graduate the other day. Gross. Finally decided to let my nails in on the summer fun. I used Winstonia Stamping Plates 106 and 109 for this look. I really love this stamping set, so if people are interested I might do a review of it (I’ve never done a review before but I’m willing to give it a shot if you all want)!

Colors Used: Sally Hansen Snappy Sorbet, Sally Hansen Lightening, Sinful Colors Innocent, Sally Hansen The Sky’s The Limit, Sinful Colors Dream On (although it’s much more fuchsia in real life), Sinful Colors Black on Black for stamping

Since I didn’t get to go to Comic Con as planned this year, I treated myself to this beautiful Loki shirt that Hot Topic had on sale, and the smoke/magic/energy trails on the design reminded me of dry marbling, so I gave it a shot. To be honest, I ended up liking my right hand better than my left (which very rarely happens)! I’ll have to remember this technique next time I wanna do flames.

Okay, I couldn’t resist. I saw a package of googly eyes at Michael’s a couple weeks ago and I just HAD to have them! And what goes better with googly eyes than cute monsters??? I used nail glue to put the eyes on, which made them nice and sturdy seeing as how they’re bigger than rhinestones. After a couple days though the eyes started to snag on things, so I think next time I’ll try placing them closer to the base of my nails rather than the tips.

I don’t think I will EVER be over how FABULOUS the Color Club Halo Hues are. Like, seriously, they are amazeballs! Another product that is amazeballs are these nail stickers available on eBay. THEY. ARE. FANTASTIC. They are so much better than using plain old Scotch tape and they come in a great variety of shapes. I highly recommend them!

Colors Used: Color Club Kismet, China Glaze For Audrey

I think this manicure design contains more techniques than I’ve ever put in a single manicure! I’m not really sure of the official name for the thumb design… fish tail? Herringbone? Whatever it is, I LIKE IT! Stamping with Winstonia Plate W108 on both hands, and I was incredibly impressed with how detailed the feather came out. Finally, some attempt at watercolor technique on my ring fingers. I think it all came out pretty well!
