One of the most important things about the boys’ outfits is that they need to play a part in the misdirection. When we see Wirt and Greg, either in promotional material or when they first appear in the episode, we think ‘well, they look weird’. Wirt looks weird because his clothes are things we recognise from somewhere, but are thrown together without providing a real focal direction for his look. Greg looks weird because he’s wearing a normal outfit with a kettle on his head.
