I could use a drink.

I was going through my archives recently & came across some shots from one of my favorite events, Michelin’s Dîner en Rouge.

This party was something else. Held at The Wooly in the Woolworth Building, it was attended by Michelin’s heavy-hitters & featured an incredible menu of dishes provided by local supper clubs, including The Whisk & Ladle & A Razon, A Shiny Knife. This was some of the most delicious food I’ve ever tasted in my life. I mean, veal cheek? What is that? I don’t care, I want it every day, I want it forever.

What was really great about the event was getting to see my friend Nora & her partner Mayur in action behind the bar. They are the proprietors of Evoe, a cocktail supper club they founded, “inspired by the power of supper clubs to bring people together.”

Evoe’s latest event was even written up in The New Yorker, which is pretty damn exciting if you ask me :)

I’ve been lucky to experience Evoe’s creations firsthand & each time I was amazed by how much inspiration, passion & science goes into each drink. Takes all the excitement out of my go-to old fashioneds!

I highly recommend following them on Tumblr to stay posted on their boozy wonderfulness & upcoming events.

After finishing art school in the mid-1960s, Estes moved to NYC and adopted the constructed urban environment of the city as his subject – one that he has pursued for nearly a half century. Over the course of his career, Estes has also become increasingly interested in the optical qualities of transparency and reflection. His work “The Woolworth Building” depicts two images of the iconic structure– the rigid, upright facade of the actual building in the background and its de-solidified, almost liquid-appearing counterpart seen on the car roof in the foreground. Sunday night work en progress. This piece still needs to be cleaned up, polished and plated but we thought we would share a sneak peek of our SS16 collection. This collection is based on the architecture of the Woolworths Building in NYC and will be debuting in Paris during fashion week. Contact @pinkheater for more info on the presentation.

(A photo taken or uploaded near Alexander Calder’s Stegosaurus, Toledo, Ohio.) // In recognition of Louis Henry Sullivan’s birthday, September 3 has become known as #SkyscraperDay. Sullivan is often called the “father of skyscrapers.” The Woolworth Building—the world’s tallest skyscraper at the time—casts an imposing figure over #Manhattan and the #BrooklynBridge in this etching by John Marin. #NewYorkCity was a base of operations for Marin beginning in 1910 and the city looms large in his body of work. “Brooklyn Bridge and Lower New York” is one of the artist’s great accomplishments in which he merges European Cubism with a new American dynamism.

John Marin (American, 1870-1953), “Brooklyn Bridge and Lower New York.” Etching and drypoint, 1913. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Lay American Art Fund and Frederick B. and Kate L. Shoemaker Fund, 2002.21. by toledomuseum http://ift.tt/1POmoUZ

Sometimes life is a constant battle against the nostalgia of a time that can never be real again.
- Jason Myers

#LookUpSeason The #WoolworthBuilding was the tallest building in the world from 1913 to 1930. Designed by #CassGilbert, it was 60 stories tall when it opened and had over 5.000 windows. Just a little fun fact for #SkyscraperDay
On a side note, I love the architectural details in old buildings, how about you?
