Favorite Kayano Ai (茅野 愛衣) Characters

anonymous asked:

It kind of annoys me how there are hardly any tv shows or films about girls with autism bc all I've ever found are ones based on boys. Like, girls can be austistic too! :(

You raise a dang good point! I know there’s at least one autistic-coded female character on TV because I’ve been compared to her before, but I can’t for the life of me remember who she is or what show she’s from because I was too annoyed at being misgendered to pay attention. I’ll ask my neighbour who that character he keeps comparing me to is !

*slams hands on the table* You’re absolutely right, kitten. This is one of the primary reasons why I was diagnosed so late even though I exhibited obvious signs when I was a kid. It sucks. So have this !

30 Day Anime Challenge day 8: Favorite Couple.

Kanda Sorata and Shiina Mashirou. No questions.

I’ve seen a fair number of anime shows, with a lot of them having some kind of romantic sub text at the very least, but no other show has moved me like Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo, and the relationship between these two was part of it. This may be the only couple whose love life actually gripped me and turned me into a hard core shipper. The love triangle was painful, and I honestly felt bad for Nanami losing out, but Mashirou losing instead would have been the greater of two evils. For so many reasons.

Pains aside, again, I love these two. Mashirou’s a bit of a high functioning autistic savant who’s an amazing artist, but who’s so hopeless with day to day stuff that she’d be lost without Sorata. And while Nanami and Sorata had a fair bit of subtext, it’s Mashiro he keeps running to, who holds his heart, and who helps teach him a lot about art, life, and talent, just by being around. I also can’t get over the beautiful dialog between the two. What you see above is only a sample. When he first meets her, Sorata’s this stereotypical shy/straight man teenage boy who freaks out over everything (oh how painful it always is to see), but by the halfway point he grows up and learns to take everything in stride, leading to many, many moments like what you see above, with his calling Shiina out on her eccentricities and lack of social mores turning into funny, random dialog that does my heart good to see.

This I think is especially what makes these two stand out for me. They’re so completely different from your normal highschool couple. Even Nanami (with no offense to her, a heroine who I held a lot of respect for, and her passionate fanbase), who would probably have complemented Sorata quite nicely, would still have made for an ordinary couple, whereas SorataxMashirou have an amazing chemistry that brings them both to life.

Oh, and that last gif takes place after an Almost Kiss which was interrupted by a stupid cat of all things. Never before have I so viscerally hated a dumb animal (and a writer) as I did at that moment. I DON’T FREAKING CARE IF IT FITS SOME STUPID JAPANESE IDEAL OF HUMOR! YOU RUINED MY KISS!!! *breathes fire and brimstone*
