Max Raabe and Palast Orchester – The Original Charleston

The Original Charleston (1923). Sheet music. Words and music by Cecil Mack and Jimmy Johnson. Harms, New York.

This song was introduced to America by Elizabeth Welch in the all-Black musical, Runnin’ Wild. Johnson’s music for the song is said to be inspired by the music brought to New York by South Carolina dockworkers that Johnson played for almost ten years before. Mack’s lyrics are seldom heard though Mack was an accomplished lyricist.

Verse of the Day

To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. Colossians 1:27-28

"Dorsey, who is originally from Charleston, West Virginia, attended the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts before moving to Los Angeles, where he met Rivera four years ago." i think this is what that blog/other anon was referring to, which they misunderstood

Their entire argument is based on their total lack of reading comprehension lmao. No wonder that anon never came back.
