One main purpose of the criminal justice system is to protect the innocent, however, with such a flawed system, this isn’t always the case. On 6 September, 1988, 17-year-old Martin Tankleff awoke to discover the bloody bodies of his parents, Arlene and Seymour. Arlene was laying in the bedroom, almost decapitated. Seymour was discovered in his office with a number of stab wounds; miraculously, he was clinging to life. Tankleff soon became the prime suspect after authorities claimed ht didn’t look distraught enough, however, Tankleff was still in shock. He was taken in for questioning without an adult present. Disturbingly, authorities told Tankleff that his father had awoke while in hospital and named him as the killer. In fact, Seymour had died without ever regaining consciousness. Brought up to believe that the police were good, honest, people, Tankleff began to question his own memory and question if he could have killed them and then blacked out. “I kept saying, ‘It wasn’t me,’ and they kept saying, 'We don’t care. Just tell us what we want to hear. We want to know it’s you,’” he says. “You get to a point where you start doubting yourself … you just want to escape that environment.”
Under intense interrogation, Tankleff verbally confessed that he had killed his parents with a barbell and a knife that was discovered in the kitchen. However, he never signed a confession document. After his interrogation, he called family members and told them he had been forced to confess. An investigation revealed that the knife that authorities surmised to be the murder weapon had been used to cut a watermelon - what was believed to be blood, turned out to be juice from a watermelon. There was also no blood or DNA discovered on the barbell. Authorities tried to argue that Tanklett was just good at cleaning up. No physical evidence found in the crime scene pointed to Tankleff being the killer but he was found guilty and sentenced to 50 years in prison regardless.
Skip forward to 2004, Tankleff’s family had hired private investigator, Jay Salpeter, who uncovered a parade of witnesses to corroborate Tankleff’s innocence. Tankleff was granted an evidentiary hearing where a number of witnesses penned Jerry Steueman as the killer. Steueman, who was once Seymour’s business partner, had owed Seymour an abundance of money. Coincidentally, Steueman had been at the card game hosted by Seymour the night of the brutal murders. It was also uncovered that following the murders, Steueman had changed his appearance and even faked his own death and left town. In 2007, all charged against Tankleff were dropped and he was released from prison. In 2014, he was awarded $3.4 million for his wrongful conviction and is currently in the process of setting up a business to help exonerate wrongly convicted inmates. Whoever killed Arlene and Seymour have seemingly escaped justice - at least for now.
This happened around 2010. In my office there was this guy (let’s call him John) who I worked with like once every week. I just go to his cubicle like 20 meters away from me and we would talk work related stuff.
One day I went to his cubicle and when I arrive there’s another guy on his chair. I asked “Hey hello, have you seen John around here?"
He looks at me, doesn’t say a word and looks slightly confused, so I add "Yeah I work with him and he sits here usually, have you seen him?”
I got slightly nervous I guess but for some reason I looked down to the floor, to break eye contact, and when I look at this guy again….. He was John.
I was in serious WTF mode at that moment, but kinda embarrassed too. He thought I was joking and then we proceeded to do business as usual, but I would swear to god that I talked to a different person for like 10 seconds. I mean, it was a completely unknown person to me and all of a sudden- boom- he kinda shape-shifted into my coworker. It never happened again but I ended up questioning my mental sanity that day. I guess my brain slipped a bit or it was a glitch indeed.

I Remember Selecting My Gender And Who My Parents Would Be, Before I Was Born
When I was about 4 years old, I remember having very vivid dreams. Almost as if they were memories. Sometimes they would even be daydreams. Just random things that I didn’t quite understand at the time would pop up in my head, and I wouldn’t really think anything of it, yet I have an excellent memory. I remember explicitly having almost like a blackout-daydream of being in a dark, red-lit room, of which I could not make out the details. Almost as if it was fuzzy, like receiving anesthesia. I remember a male voice asking me "what I wanted to be this time” and I promptly said “a boy”. The daydream ended after this.
Another one I had, I believed to have selected my parents. I had a dream that I was in a large room with a large screen, and appeared to be reviewing a feed from a hovering camera. Almost like a drone with a mounted camera. Anyway, I remember seeing my parents at a gas station in my home town. My mom in the passenger seat, my dad pumping fuel. They were driving my dads old truck, a vehicle he got rid of a few months after I was born. I remember thinking or saying “them” and that was it.
I had these experiences as a young child. I couldn’t even spell “matrix”, much less know anything about conspiracy theories. At the time I didn’t really think anything of it. Just shrugged it off and went about my day, doing whatever. I’m not a dead believer that this was truly a glitch and not just some odd and vivid dreams, because it was probably a product of my imagination running wild when I was young and resulting it to flow into my dreams. But it was just so vivid. The most vivid dreams I’ve ever had.
Drove Through A Ghost Village That Disappeared On The Drive Home
A few years ago me and my dad were driving late at night to a house we were meant to be staying at. We had never been there before so we had the sat-nav on to get there.
It must have been about 11 or 12 at night when we came to a small rural village. This was slightly strange as we hadn’t seen any homes for about an hour. The route we were taking was almost completely rural, so this was kinda weird. The village was fairly small, maybe 100 homes looking like they’d been built in the 50’s, mostly semi-detached two story homes. Some lights were on and we passed three separate people walking down the street. We thought this was strange due to it being almost midnight. The sat-nav voice hadn’t given any directions in a while.
This is where things got weird. My dad, who was driving, asked me to check the sat-nav. The voice was turned on and this is when I saw that there was no evidence of any homes or roads apart from the one we were on! But we could see several roads coming off this one! Though slightly creeped out we just put it down to not having updated the sat-nav map in a while and brushed it off as a malfunction.
We forgot about it and drove about half an hour to our destination. We stayed at the house over night and in the morning drove home. We left the village the house was in and had been driving, again, through almost totally rural roads. Half an hour had past and we remembered the village we passed through, and were expecting it to be coming up soon. But it never did.
We were totally confused and when we got home we compared the two routes, there and back, on the sat-nav. They were exactly the same. We had driven the same route there and back. What was this village? Where had it gone? Why hadn’t it shown up on the sat-nav and who were the people walking the streets! This has confused us ever since and no ones ever been able to come up with a reasonable solution.
I have been having these strange experiences that are freaking me out a bit. I fall asleep, wake up, fall asleep again and then wake up and experience the same moment I had experienced the first time I woke up. The best way to describe it is like a time loop.
The first time it happened I had fallen asleep on the couch watching TV. I woke up to a certain ad playing on the TV, but was so tired just fell asleep again. I awoke a short time later and observed the exact point in the ad I had woken to before. This happened 4 times. I shook it off as a weird coincidence.
Only a couple of years later I experienced it again with a program I was watching on TV. I had dozed off, woken briefly, dozed again and then woken again to the same exact moment playing over which wasn’t possible. I have experienced that a few times. The thing with this cycle is a feeling of feeling trapped in the cycle. I am conscious and aware, but I can’t help falling asleep again.
Last night though was even weirder. I had left the en-suite light on for my husband for when he would come to bed. I had fallen asleep and woken to my husband turning off the light, fallen back asleep and then shortly after awoken to the exact same moment. I was thinking “What the heck I just saw this”, went back to sleep woke up to him sit down on the side of the bed taking his shirt off, fallen asleep, woken again to the same moment happen again.
At this point I asked him what the heck he was doing getting up and moving around so much and he asked me what I was on about. I tried to explain and he told me I sounded loopy and to go back to sleep. When he asked me this morning to explain what I was talking about and if I even remembered (I have a history of sleep walking and talking) I explained what I had seen and he told me that it’s not possible and showed me the motions he had gone through, confirming the weird looping experience I’d had.
I know it sounds totally out there, I don’t know what to make of it. It’s not a point of re-waking and carrying on from the last point of waking, it’s re-waking from the same exact moment of first awaking and experiencing the same exact thing repeatedly. I’ve never heard of such a thing happening before so I don’t even know where to begin to understand it in any way. It makes me think of Donnie Darko only in a much smaller time frame and I’m not changing anything in time just reliving brief moments. I feel like I’m glitching, that’s the only way I can really describe it.
