Just got done with watching this. Sadly it’s only an hour long, but the editors of Vogue US talk about some of the pictures they have created for the magazine over the years. And it’s wonderful to hear them talk about the crazy stories behind the pictures. Wish it would have been longer.
As I was browsing CRFashionBook.com I noticed the image with the Van Cleef & Arpels Dragonfly clip propped onto the model’s lips seemed especially familiar. Then the potential source of inspiration for the image clicked - Bee on Lips! I remembered the Irving Penn image from the HBO Documentary, In Vogue: The Editor’s Eye. As I googled to confirm the image, I discovered via Fashionista.com (by way of one of my favorite blogs, Part Nouveau) that Interview Magazine Russia also may have had a similar source of inspiration for their cover girl Lana Del Rey. Little bit of Fashion History - you’re welcome.
