London calling to the faraway towns Now that war is declared and battle come down London calling to the underworld Come out of the cupboard, all you boys and girls London calling, now don’t look to us Phony Beatlemania has bitten the dust London calling, see we ain’t got no swing Except for the ring of that truncheon thing The ice age is coming, the sun’s zooming in Meltdown expected the wheat is growing thin Engines stop running but I have no fear Cuz London is drowning and I live by the river London calling to the imitation zone Forget it brother, you can got it alone London calling to the zombies of death Quit holding out and draw another breath London calling and I don’t wanna shout But while we were talking I saw you noddin’ out London calling, see we ain’t got no highs Except for that one with the yellowy eyes
The ice age is coming, the sun’s zooming in Engines stop running the wheat is growing thin A nuclear error but I have no fear Cuz London is drowning and I live by the river
Now get this
London calling, yes I was there too An’ you know what they said - well some of it was true! London calling at the top of the dial An’ after all this, won’t you give me a smile?
ATL Collective Presents Prince’s Parade Album + Other Prince Favorites
The ATL Collective creates musical events that seek to replicate the intimate experience of listening to an album for the first time, going track by track, reading through the liner notes and turning over the record, truly enjoying the music for what it is, without distractions. Each month, the ATL Collective picks a classic album and collectively covers the track list in sequence - many times completing the event with themed refreshments for attendees. Previous albums have included The Beatles’ Abbey Road, The Clash’s London Calling, Neil Young’s Harvest Moon, Van Morrison’s Tupelo Honey and the Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds, to name a few.
i want to get into the clash/punk rock more, can you give me some recommendations and maybe tell me a bit about them?
Y E S
okay so in my opinion the clash is the best punk band no question. their social commentary is incredible and they actually give solutions to the stuff they’re singing about rather than just complaining about it which i appreciate. i personally find their songs relatable and empowering and they’re a huge reason why im so into social issues and whatnot
as for the guys themselves, they’re super cool wow i love them so much!! there are so many amazing/funny stories about them it’s impossible to not love them (i suggest following @clash-city-rockers bc you’ll get a fantastic feel for their personalities as well as some great stories about them)
some clash songs i would recommend (everyone already knows london calling, rock the casbah, train in vain, and should i stay or should i go):
-lost in the supermarket
-guns of brixton
-know your rights
-the magnificent seven
-charlie don’t surf
-rudie can’t fail
ALSO!! rude boy is a documentary about the clash which i definitely recommend. the true gem is the clash’s silent movie (written and directed by joe strummer) called hell w-10. it’s a gangster film and so good! the whole soundtrack is clash songs too. you can watch it on youtube
sorry for rambling i just really love the clash and i hope you do too💗
edit: also you can check out /tagged/the-clash on my blog, i have a lot of stuff
edit 2: check out the reblogs bc there are other great recommendations there too
