the invincible summer

In the depth of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer. And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there’s something stronger – something better, pushing right back.
—  Albert Camus

the quote I try to live by

“In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer.
And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there’s something stronger – something better, pushing right back.”

―Albert Camus

Today we have the two debut singles from Sydney indie pop act The Invincible SummerMatt James is the very talented multi-instrumentalist behind this project, and it’s pretty obvious he has a major talent for striking pop sounds. “To The Sky’ is a captivating colossus of a track, that is as dreamy as it is soaring. The hook is made for festival stages to be able to reach thousands of thousands sweaty fans. A gorgeous cross between the sunny melodies of Tame Impala and the stadium-ready sound of Coldplay.

"Runaway” is definitely the more uptempo tune, full of uplifting HANDCLAPS and a driving backbeat. Still the lush melodies are not lost, even with the possible despairing subject of leaving everything behind.

Both tracks are a very strong introduction to this Aussie, and with a sound as radio-ready as this, there’s no doubt his dream of a perfect Summer will quickly be coming true.
