the golden part of this for me is his last line

Oh my God, we're so sorry we blocked your doorway. Now go get your ear muffs.

I’ve had a long respectable career in game development. A couple of years ago I’ve abandoned it for a cushy corporate job, and now spend most of my days missing gamedev.

This story takes place about 10 years ago at the apex of my career.

I was the lead on a AAA project. Our parent company, for which videogames was just one of many lines of business, was going through changes. We had to move offices three times in one year. Second of the three moves, always intended to be temporary, put us into the basement of an older building long occupied by satellite departments not involved with development.

The basement we were given had been empty for years, save for the most distant office. You entered the basement through a dimly lit staircase. Then, after you snaked through a horror-movie-like maze of corridors and interconnected small rooms, you’d eventually arrive at the farthest room of all.

A golden plaque was on the door.

Trademark Compliance Department.

Fuck It..Let The Whole World Know

Summary: The reader is set to do a day of interviews with Chris Evans and Tom, which wouldn’t be a problem if it weren’t for her massive crush on Tom. Thanks to Chris, the reader and Tom have an opportunity to find out how they really feel.

Word Count: 4938

authors note: I can’t believe how dirty this is HAHA! but come on…Tom can’t be that wholesome and innocent can he?

You had been used to doing press junkets with Chris Evans, but not him and Tom Hiddleston. You’d been in various rom-coms with Chris over the years, but now you were also starring in Infinity War with him.

You were at the food table getting a drink of water as you felt someone pinch your hip, causing you to jump up, scream, and turn around. There of course stood Chris, left boob grab and all, “YES! Dude, I don’t know how you still fall for this!”.

Maybe you would’ve laughed if it weren’t for the fact that you were about to do a day of press junkets with the man that you’d developed a serious crush on; Tom Hiddleston. Chris could read you like a book, “Come on (y/n) today will be fineeee!”

You sighed, “What if the interviewers ask-”. Chris raised an eyebrow, knowing full well that you’ve all had to handle some tough questions. He laughed, “Do you not remember the hundreds of weird questions you and I have been asked together?”.

the spy au that @philosophium ordered !!

Andrew slips through a slit in the crowd, brushing through the sleek trains of expensive gowns, rich wool suits jackets catching on his own. He’s on his second flute of champagne, and the tartness keeps him focused. His attention is on the flavour and the rim of the glass and the warp of faces through it. His earpiece crackles and whispers.

He can see his mark on the opposite side of the room, surrounded by servers and liars and pretty things. One of them is all three, Andrew can tell: a waiter’s vest, a seam of over-applied foundation, and bright blue eyes.

He’s distracting, flighty, a rubber band pulled all the way back. He looks like the memory of a case file, and a name occurs to Andrew one second before Kevin hisses it into his ear.

“It’s fuckin’ Charlie Pilot. Don’t engage, Minyard, we’re not here for him.”

Andrew doesn’t make any effort to reply, just takes another pull of champagne. He’s not really watching the troupes of entertainers or the clockwork security or the velvet and silk blooming under bowing chandeliers. He’s not even watching the man he’s either going to rob or kill, who’s laughing and weedy, red in the face from the alcohol. He’s stuck on Pilot –  next to his target, holding a heavily stocked tray of appetizers, his expression pleasant and empty.

He’ll be an irritant to what should be a straightforward plan, if he keeps hovering. Andrew takes a loaded step forward and the voice in his ear complains.

“Don’t even think about moving in until Pilot leaves. He’s probably doing reconnaissance for Matt. I bet he doesn’t even know about the file.”

Andrew watches Pilot’s face tick, the way he blinks like he’s on a timer, the way he’s worrying the inside of his cheek with his teeth.

“I bet he does,” Andrew murmurs, and he drains the last of the champagne. He plucks his tie pin away from the fabric and drops it in the empty glass, leaving it on a passing tray.

“What— what the fuck Minyard, we’ve lost visuals. Do you hear me? Andrew? Andrew?”

Andrew weaves through the rest of the golden crowd, ignoring the buzz of Kevin’s reprimands in his ear. He finds a new spot on the outskirts of the crowd where Pilot has installed himself.

“Do you know how fucking expensive those cameras are? You’re such a piece of shit operative,” Kevin says. “When you inevitably come back without the intelligence and without our equipment, it’s costing us to keep you around, do you realize that?”

Andrew’s more focused on the way Pilot’s shoulders are turning to face him, the slim line of his tailored pants, that eyelash-thick smudge of un-blended make up.

“Shrimp?” Pilot offers, swaying the tray in his direction.

“No,” Andrew says, but he stays uncomfortably near, feeling along the edges of his boundaries without finding any seams. Pilot’s composure is still and reserved as a frost-ravaged garden.

“Have a good evening then,” Pilot says graciously, turning back towards the host that Andrew should be sizing up but hasn’t even looked at. He glances at him for a sliver of a moment, finds himself uninterested, and looks back at Pilot.

Andrew catches him suddenly by the arm, but relaxes his grip just as quickly, caught off guard by his own impulsivity. His own disguise is just an invitation and sun bleached hair; he isn’t playing a character like Pilot is. He’s neutral for a living, but Pilot is a new weight on his scale, unbalancing him so that he can’t quite settle at zero.

When their eyes meet, the polite, curious waiter snips out of existence. Charlie Pilot stares at Andrew, with eyes like the bluest part of a fire.

“There’s a conflict of interest,” he tells Andrew calmly. “And your interest will lose.”

“I’m not interested in anything,” Andrew says broadly.

“Hm,” Pilot says, unconvinced. “You’re lying.”

“I don’t lie,” Andrew says. He’s always saying it; it’s a novelty that employers enjoy and enemies challenge, amused.

Pilot raises his jaw, mouth twitching. “No, you wouldn’t, would you.” His eyes flicker to the side of Andrew’s face, where Kevin is breathing furiously through his earpiece, then down to the grip he still has on his forearm. He lowers his tray down until the rough edge is pressed to the root of Andrew’s hand threateningly. “You’ll want to let me go, Andrew, or you’re going to end up needing a longer armband.”

Andrew feels genuine surprise squeeze his fingers around Pilot’s wrist. He hadn’t noticed the black fabric extending a whiff beyond his crisp white sleeve. He lets go, and Pilot tucks his shoulders back, satisfied. His hair is too dark to match his freckles, Andrew notes quietly. It is, perhaps, what the make up was meant to cover up.

“You are not going to win, Charlie,” Andrew says. “We’re the more capable team.”

Pilot smiles indulgently. “‘Charlie’,” he repeats, mouth curling around the name. “It’s been a long time since I’ve been Charlie Pilot.” He jostles his tray from one hand to another, and loosens his collar with his freed hand. “And I don’t think you understand how much farther ahead we are than you. If you’re looking for information, we already have it. If you’re trying to find the connections this place has to the Yakuza, we’re the ones undoing them.”

“Who’s we? I don’t remember seeing anything about loyalty in your case file. You’re just a runner.”

Pilot looks briefly bothered by this, and he juts his chin again. “I’m loyal to whoever’s doing the work that needs to be done.”

“That doesn’t answer my question. Who are you?”

He looks down, at Andrew’s empty hands, at the hip where he’s hiding his gun. His expression is warped and sad when he looks up, like the real filling in his strange costume is finally oozing out.

“You can call me Neil,” he says, and drops the whole tray of food so that it clatters and rolls into the host’s feet. There are gasps and yelps, partygoers dodging and stooping to catch the runaway platter. Andrew looks impulsively down to track its progress, and when he looks sharply back up into the knot of activity, Neil is gone. Of course he is.

He doesn’t have time to think about where he might have disappeared to, just steps neatly into the opportunity that’s been afforded to him. He uses the distraction as a doorway directly into the offices behind the coddled host.

Kevin is asking repeatedly for updates, and Andrew fishes the earpiece out and tucks it into his breast pocket. He likes to be alone for this part, when the most important door closes behind him and everything makes as much sense as a ticking clock.

He keeps thinking of Neil’s reaction to ‘runner’, of the vulnerability trussed up in his persona. He finds himself sick to his stomach wanting to know what his real hair colour is.

He tries every door in the polished row of them, finding all of them locked. He picks the lock on the door farthest from the burble of the ballroom behind him, and cracks into what looks like a room built for business arrangements and drinking. There’s a snifter next to a half dozen tumblers on a cart along the wall, and extensive cabinets under the desk.

He feels his way along the underside of the desk, and opens each drawer, idealistically left unlocked and unprotected. He finds useless information and shady information and heaps of anonymous, unlabeled tapes.

He finds the safe in the floor, facing up patiently under a wingback chair and a panel of floorboard. He stoops so that he’s face to face with it, shrugs his jacket off like a dead skin onto the floor, and puts the heart of a stethoscope to the face of the safe.

He’s sweating, spread out surreptitiously on the floor, but the safe is flimsy. It cracks in under an hour, the party wilting two rooms over, pressure taking him by the hair. Andrew flicks the door open impatiently, unwinding the stethoscope from around his neck.

It’s filled top to bottom with paper, and he reaches for the first file, carding his fingers through the spill of sheets.

Got you, it says. Over and over again, in unassuming little typescript. And on the next page, got you.

Andrew’s fingers flex. The next file is the same, and the next. A million taunting, twirling repetitions: got you. Got this. Got here first.

The safe was already cracked. The list of names was already stolen. Neil’s face winks and swarms when he closes his eyes, furious. If you’re looking for information, we already have it.

He roots around for the bud in his pocket and pops it back into his ear. He leans back, splayed away from the spill from the safe, the stacks of failure. He enunciates clearly into the microphone sewn into his collar.

“We have to find Neil.”

But like the force of the ever-glowing sun, everything that rises must also set. A year of inactivity later and he’s now the school’s resident bad boy. You’re a firm believer of allowing the past be the past, and yet you can’t help but wonder where the risen sun has gone into hiding—because perhaps its shadows have out-shined its own radiance.

Written for the first day of Sterek Week ‘17: Alpha and Emissary! I hereby present to you 1.5k of werewolf speed dating :D

It’s that time of year again: no, not Halloween. It’s the weekend of the Great North Atlantic Supernatural Mixer.

Or, as Erica likes to call it: speed dating for overpowered Alphas and snooty Emissaries.

Derek has been going since he became an Alpha, and each and every year he came home alone again, much to the disappointment of his pack. He’s not really feeling much hope for this year either.

The connection between Alpha and Emissary is the most important one in the pack. They have to be able to trust each other implicitly as neither can just order the other into submission for the pack structure to uphold. The Alpha Emissary relationship does not have to be romantic in nature, but it often tends to be, given how close they have to be to work together seamlessly as a team.

And Derek just hasn’t ever met anyone he had been able to even remotely imagine building that kind of relationship with. There have been a few Emissaries who approached him, drawn in by the weight that the Hale name still has in the supernatural world, or by the sweet call of money. Some were obviously just after a sexual relationship, attracted to Derek’s body and not interested at all in his mind or heart. It always takes all of Derek’s control to get through the weekend without starting a feud with an easily affronted Emissary. And never has he ever felt inclined to approach anyone himself.

Intertwined Destinies I: A Great and Terrible Power

In the ‘Intertwined Destinies’ meta series, I intend on taking a deep dive into the mysterious connection between Rey and Kylo Ren in The Last Jedi. In this first instalment, I cover their pasts - exploring what might have brought Rey and Kylo to where we find them in The Force Awakens, and how their histories may be paralleled and, potentially, overlap.

The Story of Ben

“I’ve seen this raw strength only once before. It didn’t scare me enough then. It does now.”

In The Force Awakens, we get only the vaguest allusion to the tragedy that sent Luke Skywalker into hiding and marked the start of Ben Solo’s descent to the dark side. The explanation comes from Han Solo:

“One boy, an apprentice, turned against him and destroyed it all. Luke felt responsible. He just…walked away from everything.”

That boy, of course, was Ben - Han’s own son and Luke’s star pupil, who Mark Hamill has spoken of in the following terms:

“[Luke] made a huge mistake in thinking that his nephew was the chosen one, so he invested everything he had in Kylo, much like Obi-Wan did with my character. And he is betrayed, with tragic consequences. Luke feels responsible for that.”

This builds up an evocative picture of Ben Solo’s fall that is returned to in the trailer for The Last Jedi, which actually gives the event a different slant. With trailer-appropriate portentousness, we hear Luke speak fearfully of a terrible power that he failed to take seriously enough before. This dialogue is laid over shots of what we must assume is the destruction of Luke’s temple, including this one:

Here, we see Luke clawing his way free from beneath a pile of flaming timbre. This image alone is extremely striking, and raises an interesting possibility for what might have happened at the temple. It has previously been assumed (at least by me) that Luke was absent when Ben enacted his betrayal and killed his fellow Jedi in training, but this shot represents a strike against that interpretation - instead, it suggests something sudden and explosive that took Luke by surprise and unfolded before he could prevent it.

bakery au (oldie but a goodie)

Part 1

“He hates me,” Bitty moaned, flopping on his couch. Holster was raiding his kitchen, listening to his rant about Jack Zimmermann.

“I don’t even know what I did wrong! Maybe it was because I told him that he played a hard game last night the first time he came into the bakery? All he does is glare at me and say stuff like ‘Eric, the coffee is too sweet,’ or ‘Eric, you need more protein.’”

“Brah, maybe Zimmermann just has a total resting bitch face,” said Holster as he pulled out a leftover pie from Bitty’s fridge. “Guy seems fucking intense. At least he’s good for business.”

“He keeps on glaring at me! And he comes in, like, three times a week. Orders a coffee and just drinks it in his corner, ignores my attempts at conversation even though, mind you, he has already said some pretty rude stuff!”

“The guy’s a celebrity, he probably has his head so far in his ass and doesn’t care about shit, and also just wants some privacy. Bits, you haven’t been taking pictures of him and posting it on twitter have you?” Holster asked, alarmed.

Bitty gasped, “Adam Birkholtz! I would never!”

“Then just treat him like an antisocial customer, he can’t be the only one going to the bakery who doesn’t want conversation and just wants service and food,” Holster said, dropping down next to Bitty on the couch with two tins of pie.

“I know,” Bitty sighs. “He’s just…so handsome. And he was so nice to Nursey when that fool tripped. And he tips generously. And he’s just so gorgeous, even when he’s glaring at me and speaking in grunts whenever I ask him how his day has been. I just want him to like me!”

Holster navigated the TV to a rerun of Golden Girls and handed Bitty one of the pie tins. “I think that’s your problem. You’re an amazing person, Bits, but maybe you can be a bit too friendly for resting bitch face robozoid Zimmermann. Maybe stop asking him about his day and just let him chill.”

LIPSTICK ੭  JUNGKOOK

Words : exactly 1,2k

Summary : Jungkook never thought that a few lipstick stains would turn him on.

A/N : I just wanted to post a little something since I’m pretty inactive because of my finals. Inspired by that time I kissed one of my friends on the cheek to see if my lipstick would tranfer and he got super cocky about the stain.
Feedback or a questions, everything is here !

“Y/N, what are you doing ?”, laughed Jungkook, resting the controller on his thigh.
From his spot on the couch, he was watching you tap your finger on your lower lip, before examinating your fingertip.

“I need to see if my lipstick is going to stay through the night.”, you explained, tapping once again your finger on your lip, your eyes cheking your makeup. You were going out tonight, seeing old friends from highschool, and everything needed to be perfect, you wanted people to look at you and be stunned.
The dress hugging your body was enough to leave your roommate breathless, but you were prouder of your makeup, everything was perfect, if it wasn’t for the said lipstick.

“Is that the one you bought last week ?”, asked Jungkook, leaning against the couch.
You hummed, remembering the day you dragged the boy to Sephora. Fortunately, he didn’t complain, or maybe you just didn’t listen to his desperate sighs, but he helped you pick a color, the dark chocolate, almost purple color catching his eyes.

“Why don’t you just do the thing you do with your hand.”, he asked gesturing to the top of his hand, talking about that time he saw you place your lips on your hand.

“Ugh, I’m too lazy to wash my hand after, or to go get a tussie.”, you sighed, looking at the clock.
Jungkook laughed, getting up and walking towards you before looking at himself in the miroir. Running his hand in his hair, he gave you a faked annoyed look.

“Do it, we’ll see if it leaves a stain.”, proposed Jungkook, tugging at the collar of his shirt, revealing his golden skin a little more.

Smiling at Jungkook, he lightly pushed your shoulder, it wasn’t the first time that he allowed you to test your lipsticks on him and he knew you were dying to test this one too. It just happened one time when you were on a rush, no tissus or anything to place your lips on, and since Jungkook didn’t mind having a stain that he could wash off just after, he was the guinea pig.

Grabbing your roommate’s chin, you quickly kissed a trail from his cheek to his collarbone, as he tilted his head.

“Ouh, that’s a lot.”, you noticed, eyebrows furrowed. A mark of your lips were clearly visible of his cheek, another one in the middle of his neck, and the last one on top of his collarbone, more faded, but it was there.

“I’m definitely taking it with me, I’ll probably have to do some touch ups.”, you mumbled, grabbing the lipstick before throwing it in your purse, not really paying attention as Jungkook stayed silent.

His eyes were glued on the miroir, pupils blowing wide a little bit more as he discovered the stains. Licking his lips, he slowly parted them, feeling his sweatpants grow thighter.

Biting his lower lip, he nodded as he heard you say something, but he never payed attention, a finger coming to touch the stain on his neck.
Why was he so turned on by such a simple thing, was it the stains, or you ? Or both ? His hand was aching to wrap around his growing length, but his line of thoughts got cut by the loud sound of the front door closing.

His breath grew uneven as he looked around the apartment, before quickly walking towards his room, his game still paused on the tv screen.
Not caring to close his door, he left it slightly open, sitting on the edge of his bed, facing the miroir in front of him.
Giving him a full view of his body, Jungkook quickly took off his shirt, throwing it on the floor, as if he was afraid that the lipstick stains would fade away.

With the huge miroir, it was even better, he could clearly see the three marks along his cheek and neck, the last one almost looking like a really dark hickey.
His mouth fell agape at how good the color looked, the brownish stains contrasting with his skin.
His hand went to his bulge, feeling his already hard cock as a few locks of hair fell in front of his eyes.

Lips slightly pink, glittering with a coat of saliva, his hand grabbed his sheet as the other sneaked beneath the fabric of his sweatpants.
A sigh of relief left his lips when he felt his rough hand wrap around his base, teasing himself as he started to slowly move up and down.

His mind was fogged, focused on the ounce of pleasure he was giving himself. Head tilted to the side, he was trying his hardest not to close his eyes, he wanted to see the marks and his skin.

His thumb collected his pre-cum, speading it, a pleased sigh leaving his lips. His movements grew faster, pleasure taking over his body and soon enough, he was pushing the hem of his pants down.
The sound of skin filled the room, alongside his sighs, grewing deeper and deeper.

But, his hand wasted enough, he had to use his imagination, his mind wondering.
He tried his best to remember the feeling of your lips on his skin, picturing them kissing down his torso, and his hand pumped faster as he imagined your mouth around his cock, a groan leaving his lips.

Maybe your lipstick would leave a few rings around his shaft, a deep moan coming from his chest. He never thought that a few marks would turn him on, but there he was, using his hand to catch his climax because of them.

“God.”, he breathed, his hips bucking. A gasp left his lips as he pictured you again, seeing you in that dress, wishing his could take it off, and let his hands wonder around your body.
His lip got caught in his teeth, closing his eyes as he imagined what he would do to you, the taste of arousal linguering on his tongue. And god, he wished you didn’t leave, his hand moving faster and faster, chassing his high.
“Y/N, fuck.”, it left his lips without thinking, the blurry image of your body underneath his clouding his mind, his cheek slightly pink, a thin layer of sweat on his forehead and torso.

He lost track of everything as his mind started making up how your moans would sound, how your voice would sound as you were begging him to fuck you, how you voice would crack as you moan his name, getting closer and closer to your climax.

His Adam’s apple bobbed against the skin of his throat, regular gasp leaving his lips as he mumbled incoherent phrases. He knew he was getting closer, bucking his hips, before letting out a loud moan, his voice cracking towards the end in what sounded like your name. Panting, his hand slowed down as he released, cum dripping on his torso.

Jungkook slowly opened his eyes, chest falling up and down at an irregular pace as he tried to catch his breath. He closed his eyes, head falling back, trying to process everything.

“Jungkook ? I forgot my wallet.”

And his eyes shot open.

You were never really innocent, like far from it. You never acted like a lady but you were forced too, until you dishonored your father, he sent you to the Nights watch to be their fuck toy or something along those lines. At least you got to go to the wall, you could handle yourself very well, and your uncle was the Commander there so you would be treated fairly well.

What to read after Throne of Glass

If you, like me, are still going through complete Sarah J Maas withdrawal, and can’t really stand to wait for her next books, check out the list below to tide you over! Each book has many of the things I adored about both ToG and ACOMAF: strong and interesting female characters, magic, deeply beautiful writing, love stories to cry about, and an all around sense of adventure. If you have any more recommendations to add, definitely let me know!

Black Jewels: Anne Bishop

I just finished this series, and I am still amazed by how masterfully Anne Bishop weaves her stories. Welcome to the Dark Kingdom, a matriarchal realm ruled by strong queens and the males that support and serve them (Rowan and Aedion anyone?). There is a prophecy fortelling the rise of a Queen with more power than even the High Lord of Hell himself, which gives us a wonderful story full of scheming, war, adventure, and a badass court I would kill to be a part of. Prepare your heart!

Graceling by Kristian Cashore

Graceling is the best series for all you folks who couldn’t get enough of badass assassin Celaena. Katsa is an assassin Celaena would be proud of, due to her rare ability as a Graceling. She is Graced with a killing power, and has spent her life as the king’s tool in doling out his reign of terror. In waltzes Po, Graced with fighting, and here to shake everything Katsa knows about her world. Cashore definitely gives us a twist Sarah would most certainly support!

The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski

This book aligns more with the romance and court mystique that Sarah presents so wonderfully in ToG and ACOMAF. Kestrel is the daughter of a general who helped the emperor conquer territory after territory. As she is faced with a choice, marry or join the military, Kestrel finds a friend in one of the slaves from the conquered people, and so begins one of the most interesting political schemes I have read in awhile! I haven’t finished the trilogy yet, because I am out of the country and can’t get my hands on the final book, but I would highly recommend it.

Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson

Cue another really cool empire written by an author who isn’t afraid to be inventive or go beyond the normal realms of fantasy. Vin is another Celaena-esque character, as the abandoned street child who turned thief who struggles to stay alive. When a mentor takes her under his wing, she discovers that her luck on the streets might be more than she could ever explain. Magic, mystery, and of course, a few court balls thrown in make for a wonderful mix. Warning: the last book made me cry. Like really cry. But in a good, I’m-still-mad-at-you-but-I-understand-and-respect-your-story-line type of way.

Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima

Raisa is everything that I have ever wanted in a princess. She is intelligent, passionate, feisty, and super compassionate. So when a war arises between the clans and the wizards, you can bet she has goals to achieve and empires to shake up. Throw Han Alister into the mix, a street wise leader, and things get tricky and fireworks explode. One of my favorite love stories in a long time, because it isn’t a story about just romantic love, but also what the love of a princess for her country can do.

Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder

Yelena is set for execution for murder, but is given the choice to be the next food taster of the Commander of Ixia. As if the threat of having poison in her system wasn’t enough, she is also given a dose of Butterfly’s Dust, which she needs every day to stay alive, and can of course only get from the chief of security. Fighting for her life soon becomes more than just guessing the right poison, but also a game of magic, love, and all out war. Best kind of combo out there!

Legend by Marie Lu

This is the only book in the list to be set in a dystopian universe as opposed to a kingdom, but with a prodigy like June, no one can make any complaints. After a war tore the country apart, the Western United States is under the martial rule of the Republic, and June is their perfectly groomed soldier golden child. Day, on the other hand, is a slums boy who has become the Republic’s most wanted criminal. What happens when their paths cross is enough to make any country tremble, and to keep me hanging on to every word!

And finally:

Literally anything by Tamora Pierce!

Tamora Pierce has been my favorite author since I was a little girl. Each of her series is set in the same universe, based around the story of an interesting and kickass female character, from the first female warrior to a wild-mage. I first found these stories when my mother decided my sister and I didn’t have enough strong women in our literature and Tamora really rose to the occasion. Start with the first series, Song of the Lioness, and work your way from there! I have reread her books at least once every year since I was a little girl and they get better every time. I cannot recommend these books enough!

If you read or have read any of these books, feel free to shoot me a message; I am always ready to geek out over them.

stay safe + ily🍃

You still remember how it happened, clear as day.

You remember running as fast as you possibly could down those dark tunnels; you remember your shoes slapping against the damp ground loudly as panicked breaths left your lips and tears stung your waterline, threatening to fall. You remember catching up with the rest of your so-called ‘pack’ as they all stood in a circle, determined looks etched on their faces.

You remember being too late.

You remember hearing Kira’s cold words. “The Skinwalkers have a message for you, Theo. Your sister wants to see you.“

You remember watching her wield her katana as you rushed past the others and stopped short in front of the angered kitsune. "No! Kira, please!” You remember shouting, your voice laced with desperation as Theo glanced your way, his eyes filled with unmistakable panic and fear.

“(Y/N)…” The whispered words escaped past his lips as he attempted to take a few steps toward you, the girl he loved, but came to a hesitant halt when Liam and Scott bared their teeth and growled at him from directly behind your shaking body.

You remember Scott grabbing you by the waist and pulling you back as you begged your friends not to do what you knew they were about to. The feeling of complete dread filled you when they continued to ignore your screams, the heavy tears rolling down your cheeks as you struggled to escape from the True Alpha’s grip. "Please! Don’t do this! Kira!“ You cried out, your heart pounding in your chest as alarm increasingly flared up inside of you.

“It’s for the best, (Y/N),” Scott’s voice rang in your ears as he held your fighting body tightly against himself.

“No! Please! I-I love him,” You rasped out, your cries dying down when you looked at your boyfriend. His wide eyes were glued to you, those three words had sprung the sudden feeling of regret for all he had done to put him in this final position onto him as it ran through his veins and he watched the tears fall from your beautiful eyes. If he hadn’t acted the way he did to the rest of the pack, he wouldn’t be about to lose you. But he couldn’t change that now, he reminded himself harshly.

You remember being too late.

Kira’s sword had already come into contact with the ground by the time you finished your confession, a harsh glare in her glowing eyes. The wet, paved stones cracking and rumbling under your feet. You remember the floor caving in, Theo’s sister crawling her way up from under the rubble, your breath hitching in your throat as you watched her with wide, frozen eyes snatch his legs with her hands, yanking him to the cold, hard ground.

“(Y/N)! Help me! Please!” His distraught voice echoed through your head and shook your body to the core.

“Theo!” You remember the sobs that racked through your body and the way that your chest heaved heavily as you tried so hard to get past Scott’s hold on you, as you tried so hard to save the only person who’s ever really loved you. You remember hearing his pleas and watching his grip on the edge of the ground slip, and him fall into the epitome of his own hell.

“No!” You remember the scream that erupted from you, your vision blurred with tears and your chest tight with the pain and the loss. Scott let go of you and you immediately scrambled to the giant, gaping hole in the stone, gasping breaths leaving your parted lips hysterically.

You remember being too late.

The ground swallowed him up just as quick and magically, it was whole again. No cracks, no rubble, no flaws. You remember feeling numb. Your wide eyes locked on the ground as your knees gave way, leading you to land upon the cold concrete where the boy you loved had just been taken from you.

–

You had decided to split away from the pack when the sun rose the very next day. There was a hole, a darkness, a void, in your chest where something was missing, from where Theo was missing… That darkness hadn’t been picked up by light, not even months down the line. It hadn’t changed.

You hadn’t spoken to anyone; you had barely left the house. You rarely ate, your once glowing skin, now a sickly pale. Your parents were incredibly worried; they knew about the supernatural and the fact that your boyfriend was a creature of the night.

They knew that he had betrayed the pack a few times but they had regularly seen you and him cuddled close together in your room, his fingers softly running through your hair, your head gently rested on his chest and his arm wrapped tightly around your body as you both gazed at the tv, a comfortable silence filling the room; they knew that he would never hurt you. They knew how much Theo meant to you and vice versa.

Now, everything felt wrong.

You were convinced that none of the pack had noticed your absence at school, even though your leave was extremely abrupt. They all assumed that you were grieving and that you would need time and space to heal and so they left you alone.

Liam noticed more than anyone, however. Ever since he moved to Beacon Hills, there had been no one who was more welcoming and supportive of him than you and he would never forget that. You two had been good friends all throughout his time in that county and he hated not being able to see you but still knowing how heartbroken you were over the pack’s rash decisions.

So, he decided to do something about it. Getting in touch with the Celestial kitsune, Noshiko Yukimura, had been easy. But, convincing her to come back to Beacon Hills for the sole purpose of her delivering Kira’s katana to them had been slightly more difficult but doable after some pleads, nonetheless.

Back again, you thought begrudgingly. The underground tunnels seeming even darker and even damper than the last time you were here. The last time you were here. The last time you were here, you lost Theo.

You folded your arms across your body, shivering as the cool breeze of the evening flowed throughout the maze of tunnels. All the bad memories resurfacing against your will as you stood opposite Liam and Hayden, in the exact area in which you saw your boyfriend get dragged down to his personal hell.

“What are we doing here, Liam?” Your voice was small and quiet as you glanced around at your dank surroundings, tightening your grip on yourself as if you were attempting to comfort and shield yourself from the nightmares those tunnels bring.

Liam let out a steady huff of air, his eyes flickering to Hayden’s and then back to yours as he brought his hand out from behind his back. Your breath got caught in your throat and as you stared at the item he beheld. Kira’s sword. “W-what?” You stuttered out roughly, your heart hammering in your chest as you took a step closer to your friends.

“Use it,” His demand was soft and kind as he reached his arm out towards you. You let out an inevitable breath of chilled air before reaching out with shaky hands, grasping the grip of the sword in your fingers.

You looked up at Liam with teary eyes before throwing your free arm around his torso and bringing him into a long overdue hug. His arms went around your shoulders and you muttered out a quiet and muffled but appreciative, “Thank you. Thank you so much.” You pulled away and gave a grateful nod of your head Hayden’s way as the two of you barely knew each other; she returned it with a small, happy, smile written on her lips.

You turned away from the two, sighing shakily as you readily positioned the sword above the ground. Not even hesitating once as you lifted the katana up before swinging it back down onto the concrete with as much strength as you could muster.

The ground did as it did before, cracking and crumbling, giving away to create the same wide and immense hole. The stone explodes as a clawed hand shoots up and into the air; a gasp tumbled from your lips as you watched Theo painfully slowly clamber his way out of the rubble and onto safe ground.

“T-Theo?” Your voice seemed to get lost in the cool wind when your glistening eyes connected with his vibrant and glowing, golden ones. Low growls emitted past his sharp canines until his eyes locked onto your frozen body, and his breath gets caught. The gold in his iris’ slowly fading out until the soft hazel colour that you fell in love with is restored.

“(Y/N)…” He breathed out, his voice hoarse as he took a few steps towards you. Kira’s sword fell out of your grip and clattered onto the floor, the noise echoing and bouncing off the walls of the tunnels but you didn’t notice as your legs carry you as fast as they could back into his warm arms.

Tears that had been collecting on your waterline slowly made their trek down your rosy cheeks as his arms tightly wrap around your waist and his head settles in the crook of your neck. The sadness that had been sitting on your shoulders and weighing you down ever since he was taken away from you, dissipated into thin air and you couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief because of it.

Then, you felt his tears on the skin of your slightly exposed collarbone and heard the almost inaudible sound of his sniffles, so you hugged him tighter and ran your fingers through his messy, dark hair. “I-I love you too,” You could only just make out his hushed and muffled words through your elated cries of happiness but your heart swelled when they ring through your ears, like music.

Warnings: None

Setting: Golden Age

A/N: Thank you to my lovely friend Danielle (@itsalwaysnarnia) for helping me with part of this story-please give this excellent human being a follow!

Your betrothal to Edmund Pevensie of Narnia was not something you had wished for. Unfortunately, it wasn’t something you had any say in at all.

An arranged marriage was not what you considered the dream future. You couldn’t think of anyone in their right mind who would actually enjoy being stuck with some stranger for the rest of their life, let alone upon meeting them a mere week before the wedding.

But the moment you met Edmund Pevensie, he didn’t seem like a stranger. No, he was something much more than that in your eyes. It felt as if you had known him in a past life; Perhaps in a dream, or a dream of a dream. It seemed incredibly silly, seeing as you had only exchanged a few words with the young king, and although you were sure he didn’t feel the same, you couldn’t deny how you saw him.

“Y/n?”

You immediately snapped out of the trance you were in, turning to the dark haired figure standing in the doorway of the castle’s Great Hall.

“Oh, sorry. I must have, um-” You paused, clearing your throat and avoiding Edmund’s gaze. “Wandered off…”

The king tilted his head slightly, giving you a questioning look. “Yes, well, you should probably get to bed. It’s, I mean-” He looked at his feet, clearly uncomfortable. “It’s getting late.”

You nodded, forcing a small smile. “Yes, thanks.” The two of you stood there for a minute. “Right, well, I’m going to uh…” You felt the apples of your cheeks fill with heat.

“I was just getting to bed, I can walk with you if you’d like.” Edmund offered hesitantly, almost as if he felt an obligation to.

You nodded gratefully, obliging and taking a step towards the winding marble staircase. “Thank you, Your Highness.”

Edmund shook his head, almost sadly. “Please don’t call me that. It’s bad enough that we’re stuck in this situation, I don’t need you treating me like I’m somehow…above you.”

He paused, taking care to avoid eye contact as he walked a few steps ahead of you.

“Edmund?” You asked, stopping before the entrance to your marital chambers. The king turned slowly on his heel to face you.

“I’m sorry. For all of this.” You croaked out softly.

The two of you looked at each other for a moment. Edmund just nodded, remaining silent. He understood what you meant.

Edmund apprehensively began to unlatch the door, opening it with deliberate listlessness. You took a couple timid steps towards the entrance, watching as the young king tugged at his waist to undo the buckle from the side of his robes.

You stepped into the dark chambers, tugging at the sleeve of your gown and shutting the door behind you as you did so. It made a thunderous sound as the latch clicked once more.

You had been in these chambers three times before; once on your wedding day and then again on the two evenings that followed. Yet on all three of these occasions, you and Edmund lay on either sides of the bed, not acknowledging each other whatsoever.

“So,” You said softly, pulling and unbraiding the laces on the back of your gown,  “Uh-”

“You don’t have to try to talk to me.” Edmund replied plainly, letting his robes fall to his feet. “It’s alright.”

It was immensely dark in the room, so you were unable to see anything more than the general outline of Edmund standing before you.

You bit the side of your lip, dropping your hands from the laces. “I know, but-” You sighed, gliding your gown over your shoulders and down to your waist. You felt the chilliness in the air run through your body.

Edmund ran a hand through his scraggly hair, looking at you with an odd expression. “Hm?”

You shook your head rawly, letting the last of your clothing fall and quickly reaching for the nightdress that hung by the wardrobe. “It doesn’t matter.”

You drew what you could see of the bed coverings back, making room for you to lift your legs from the edge of the mattress and settle them under the sheets. It was still cold under the many blankets.

You sat there silently, leaning against the pillows lining the headboard as you waited for Edmund to join you. You could feel a cool Narnian breeze come in through the cracked window, making you colder than before. Narnia was different than Terebinthia…too different. Nothing was keeping you sane here anymore.

“You okay?” Edmund asked from beside you. You nodded slowly, sinking down into the blankets.

Edmund let out a small, slightly defeated sigh, and adjusted his position to rest his head on the flimsy pillows. Although he lay merely a few feet from you, he seemed a great distance away.

Edmund remained silent, but you could hear him breathing somewhat rapidly. Gradually, your loneliness became much more prominent and the winds became much stronger.

As you lay there in the cold sheets, restless and completely unsure, thunder began to brew outside your window. You inhaled sharply, praying that the storm would pass. You had never responded well to weather like this.

It was still for a moment before the first lighting cracked. You felt your body tense up instantaneously, your breathing stopping suddenly. You bit your lip, feeling the blood rush to your face and your hands start to shake.

It was a silly reaction, sure, but you couldn’t help how your body responded.

You gripped the sheets and closed your eyes, holding back the fear that coursed through your veins. You had every intention on letting Edmund sleep peacefully, but with this thunderstorm, it might not go as planned.

“Ed?” You said softly, almost afraid of his response. Edmund groaned from the edge of the bed.

“What?” He asked, rather roughly. You licked your lips, trying to ignore the sounds coming from your window. “Nevermind. Go back to sleep.”

You could feel Edmund roll over, assuming that he was facing you now.

“Is everything alright? You’ve been squirming.”

Before you could respond, a loud noise that sounded like hundreds of canons erupting came from the window. You whimpered, wincing slightly.

“I’m fine.” You said hastily, sensing that Edmund was about to say something. You turned away from him in the darkness, clutching the sheets and curling up on the edge of the mattress.

For a minute, both of you were still. Then, precipitously, you felt a cold arm making its way around your waist.

You hadn’t heard Edmund move closer to you-perhaps you had been too focused on the horrific noises coming from outside of Cair Paravel-but, regardless, there he was.

You felt his breath on your bare neck as his arm extended to reach all the way around you, pulling his body closer to yours in the process. His lips were mere centimeters away from your collarbone.

You felt oddly calmed in this position. Even if you didn’t know what to make of it, it was nice to feel his body against yours, keeping you warm.

“I know the storms here can be a bit scary sometimes,” Edmund whispered, his hot breath hitting your neck with every word he uttered, “You’ll be okay.” He paused, breathing a bit heavily now. “I just want you to feel…safe.”

You nodded in acknowledgement, a smile beginning to form on your lips. The feeling of Edmund beside you was something you never thought you needed, but now that it was happening, you realized you wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

As you lay there, smiling to yourself, the storm slowly dying down and Edmund’s arms around you, you began to think that you would start to feel a little more sane here.

Having the unique ability to change into several different kinds of animals makes her a bit more in tune to her animal instincts as well. Things are hardly ever dull anymore with her around.

A/N: It snowed for the first time in don’t know how many years where I lived two days ago, and people are still loosing their mind. I’ve been holed up at home and got a bunch of writing down. I’ve also started a bullet journal, so we’ll see how long that lasts. When I started this part, I wasn’t going to take it in the direction it went, but sometimes things just happen. I hope you guys enjoy this part! Don’t shoot me please. I’m also sorry if anyone’s freaked out by snakes, but don’t worry it’s really not a super detailed part of the story. Enjoy guys!

Bucky let out a shuddering sigh, a growl bubbling in his chest. He clenched his jaw and glared at Sam over his shoulder. He all but slammed down his coffee mug on the kitchen counter as he turned back to the coffee pot. Sam’s eyes narrowed at Bucky’s dismissal.

“I asked you a question.” Sam bit out, leaning his elbows onto the bar top between them. Bucky’s shoulders tensing was the only indication that he heard Sam, but he continued making his cup of coffee. “Yo. Barnes. Answer the question.”

Chapter One: Everybody Dies

Chapter Two: Not Everyone Is Gonna Wanna Save Ya!

You were silent and nervous at the new place with Negan and his men. The night you arrived people looked at you oddly, even more so due to the fact you clung to Negan like glue. The only person you really trusted, trust was a stretch, he was safe. The morning after, he passed you off to a woman named, Mary. You didn’t see him for a few days after that.

Mary, whilst she was nice wasn’t safe. It was also boring, Negan’s policy of living was different to the one you had come from; you pull your weight, you are rewarded or something to that extent. Being the youngest out of everyone wasn’t fun, Negan allowed you time to adjust, meaning you had nothing to do but wait till Mary got back to her room.

You prided yourself on being adventurous. You used to somehow always manage to leave your mother’s overbearing side, a door which unlocked, wasn’t going to stop you from looking around. Negan’s community was in some kind of warehouse, huge and industrial, it housed many people; more than your last community. You didn’t see any harm in looking around, seeing exactly what this place was like. Stretching on your tippy-toes you opened the door, peeking out and then walking out into the cold corridor, shutting it with a little click before carrying on your adventure.

Throughout your little adventure, you had to hide, not to be seen or spotted by one of Negan’s men, you didn’t exactly know if you were allowed to just walk around and you didn’t exactly want to find out the answer to that question.

You came to door, the window looking out was shining sunlight, you smiled and pushed it open. The rays of golden light hitting your face instantly, warming you up a little. You walked out and see a line-up of motorcycles, various colours and styles, you also spotted two men with their backs to you. Leather jackets, jeans and talking loudly amongst themselves, you swiftly turned and walked around the corner of the building.

You noticed a tall, caged fencing, with a frown you stepped closer and through the panels of woods that reinforced the fencing you could see movement. You recognised that sound, the sound of growling and frustrated grunts, yet you still looked. It was some kind of obstacle course, various junk was scattered and those people admitted throughout.

Then from the right, suddenly, a man began to violently shake the fencing for attention. His clothes were just sweats, grey with a large ‘H’ spray painted on in yellow. He had this terrified look in his eyes, they were locked on you and he was panting heavily, sweating under the sunlight.

“Little girl,” he rattled the fence. “You gotta help me,” he persisted, “Open the gate, please?”

Stepping back, it made him rattle the fence in frustration. “Why are you in there?”

“Because I tried to leave,” he tells you, “they found me and brought me back here, please. Just open the gate, I gotta get outta here,” he begged and you nodded once but before you can walk a hand is placed on your shoulder.

It’s large and warm, judging by the man’s wide, shocked eyes you know who it is. You look up as Negan is giving a hearty smile to the man behind the fence, you recognise two of the men from a few nights ago beside Negan.

“Well, hello to you too, Bill,” Negan calls out, “I see you met our newest resident, Y/N, I hope you weren’t trying to make her open that gate. Get her in trouble, get her thrown in there with you, I’d hate for another life be on your hands.”

Negan was clean shaven, leather jacket zipped up and the same baseball bat in his left hand, he had a menacing grin plastered on his face. The other guy, behind the fencing, named Bill was clinging to the metal; shaking under Negan’s stare. You could hear the slight rattling of the fence under the white-knuckled tightness of Bill’s hands, you frowned at his terrified eyes, did he actually deserve to be in there?

“Mike, take Bill to his… room, I’ve got to have words with this little sweetie.” Negan grabbed your hand with his right, pulling you a little forcefully away from the caged area and around the building. A few men littered, watching guard and a few working on the massive trucks. “Where’s Mary?” It was a simple question, yet, you didn’t know the answer.

You lightly shrugged, still holding his hand. “I don’t know,” your voice was small and delicate amongst the loud noises around you. “I didn’t intend to get caught, you know,” he let out a loud chuckle at that.

“A little smart ass,” he commented before he stopped walking. “I didn’t put you in Mary’s care for you to wander off and talk to our castaways,” you look over your shoulder, trying to still see where Bill was kept and Negan chuckled. “We survive. We provide security to others. We bring civilisation back to this world. We are the Saviors.” He gestured around, the men all nodding, “And people who don’t abide by the rules, get punished, Bill, didn’t tell you that he ransacked our medicine, and killed three men in the process of him ‘leaving’. Fair punishment, fitting for his crime.”

You were silent for a minute. “Am I going to go in there?”

“No. Unless you break the rules,” he looks down at you. “I get it. You’re adventurous, curious about this place. It’s okay, I just don’t want you running around alone, not a lot of the men here are very forgiving if you get in their way.” You gave a little nod, “you’ll get used to living around here soon enough,” Negan name is then called, “I’ll have someone take you back to Mary’s room. No more wondering without supervision, got it?” You nodded and he did back before walking around you.

Two Days Later

“He has bigger things to worry about than a little girl,” Mary tells you walking through the Sanctuary’s corridors. “He’s busy still proving to everyone around here he’s leader, it’s a climb to get everyone to completely trust you, he has to be seen as alpha around here. He can’t do that with a little girl clawing at his leg, can he?”

Mary was a small, agile women. Blonde hair and kind eyes, it was easy to see why Negan trusted you with her, he passed you off to motherly figure. There probably wasn’t many around and she seemed to be the only one, so far, that wasn’t cold and horrible towards you.

“He’s trying to lead all these people?” You asked walking into the workhouse, she chuckled and nodded.

“Yeah, he has his second in command, Simon.” You remembered Simon, he hadn’t been around much. “Negan has outposts for miles around, a lot of the soldiers are at those with communities of their own. I was at one before this, I was brought here to look after you,” she nudged and you smiled a little.

There were tables all lined up, piles of either food or clothing on them. Mary had explained the point system to you, this was the first time you had seen it played out. It reminded you of the Flea Markets your mother used to take you to before all of this. There was a man dealing with medicine, another women with food and other necessities a human may need.

“Did you used to get allowances?” Mary asked you nodded lightly. “Well, this is that. You earn points and you spend those points on stuff here, it’s pretty simple and easy to follow, you have few that still try to get around the system. It’s our way of life, now yours!”

You followed Mary around as she got food, a few little things that she needed, she was nice enough to get a chocolate bar for you.

“Don’t wonder off, stay where I can see you, kay?” You nodded and walked around the large warehouse room.

The bustling of people, lining up for what they wanted or needed. You slowly strolled around, eating the chocolate, getting bumped into and pushed around because of how small you are. You peeked over a table, smiling at the man sitting behind it, clothes piled on the surface.

“You must be the new resident,” he amused. His ageing face was either due to the torment of today’s problems or just him ageing. “Must be a big change,” he sighed.

You nodded, “It was a lot smaller and I lived in a house,” he nodded, “and everyone shared what was found, you didn’t have to work or earn, it was given.” He perked up at that, “Maybe that’s why it failed?”

“Nonsense,” He smiled. “That sounds like our new worlds, a new paradise,” you chuckled lightly, “Who knows, maybe, one day that will happen here. I’m Martyn.” He sighed but stands up, you frown and turn seeing two of Negan’s men walking over, shoulders tense.

“Leftie,” The bald one called, “Wade needs new jeans, whatcha got?” Not even glancing down at you as he comes around the table, lightly knocking into you.

The man, Martyn, sighed. “Again? That’s his third pair this month,” causing the man beside you to chuckle at that. Martyn shifted through the clothes he had laid out, “in your own time, leftie.” It was only when he struggled to go through the clothes you noticed one arm, the other sleeve was pinned to keep out of the way.

“He’s going as fast as he can,” you speak up with a little frown, Martyn shakes his head at you but you ignore it. Both men look at another with raised eyebrows, “His name is Martyn, not Leftie!”

The shorter one of the two, light red hair, almost blonde knelt down. “Listen, little girl, let the adults take care of this.” He smiled, “Just cause Negan brought you here doesn’t mean you can mouth off, you don’t get no privileges.”

Mary came running up, closing her hands around your shoulder and giving apologetic smiles to both of Negan’s soldiers. “I am so sorry, I told her not to go wandering off,” you looked up at her as she glared down at you but shakes her head.

“Mary, I don’t want to have to tell, Negan, that you can’t handle the child,” He stands up and she nods once. “Teach her some manners, when to keep her little mouth shut, we then won’t have a problem.”

“Y/N,” you tell him and he frowns, “My name is Y/N, you give basic respect, you receive basic respect; what my dad used to say.” Mary chuckles and tucks you under her arm, a little behind her as the man glares at you.

Martyn butts in with handing the jeans, muttering apologies for taking so long. You were glaring at the two men who took the jeans, giving Martyn a few words before turning to Mary, looking her over once. Their scowls made your skin crawl.

“Well, little girl, you’re here because your daddy is dead. Got it? So, whatever that useless fuck taught you are now forgotten. You respect people higher than you, that’s about everyone in this goddamn place, ya hear?” You looked to the floor, the harshness of his words tugging at your heart. Mary gave a disapproving glare to the men.

“She’s a child,” Her voice laced with motherly venom, you had heard your mother talk with the same harshness a few times before.

“No, she ain’t. In this new world, children either get killed or get you killed, don’t let it be the latter Mary, I’d hate to see you killed.” Both men nodded at Martyn, glaring at your silently crying form before leaving.

Mary took you back to her room, wherein she over a few rules to you. Mostly, not talking ANY of Negan’s men unless, completely, necessary. Negan had already said that his men aren’t entirely sympathetic, you just didn’t really think of it till now. She also told you not to go walking around on your own, even Negan said that, but you needed to talk to him.

Mary had given you a brief tour, not that you remembered where everything was, but you had the general direction to Negan’s living quarters. You heard a few female voices, you peeked from behind the wall and see three women talking before walking through a door, you frowned and snuck up behind them.

Pushing the door open silently, it was a big room and it had just those women inside. A bar was settled in the back, lavish chairs and it seemed music was playing, you hadn’t heard actual music in a while.

“Y/N?” A loud voice called your name, it caused the three women to look at you, you gave a shy smile before looking to see Negan walking towards you. “I specifically told you to not wander around alone!”

He stops a little short in front of you, crossing his arms in question. “I wanted to speak with you, I didn’t know how to find you without wandering.”

Instead of answering, he leans forward and pulls the door shut and taking your right hand, again, leading you down the corridor away from the room. He came to a door where he opened it, it was a bedroom, you skipped inside and he chuckled slightly as you sat in one of the armchairs he had settled by the window.

He followed sitting in the opposite one, raising an eyebrow as you looked, incredibly tiny against the overly large chair. “What did you need to talk to me about that couldn’t wait for you to get Mary to bring you to me? Is it about Mary? What’s she like? I’ve known her since the beginning, I figured she’d be good for you. She had two sons; you settling in a’right?”

“Fine, Mary is great, better than most of the people here.” He raised his eyebrows at that, “your men are rude. They treat anyone who is ‘below’ them poorly,” you expected some kind of response but Negan chuckled. You often got that type of response from adults when trying to be serious, often calling you ‘ferocious like a kitten!”

Negan stopped chuckling, “Listen, kid. I get it, you came from a little community that worked like equals, honestly, I wish it could be that way here. But you got to establish that the men who go out and risk their lives for them, for me, even for you now, well yeah; they deserve a new level of respect. The soldiers, my soldiers, are excluded from the point system because they deserve that privilege.”

“But they’re mean for the sake of it,” you frowned a little and Negan sighed.

“I can’t help it if people are sensitive to that,” he shrugs and that made you frown more, “You gotta develop a thicker skin to survive. You gotta work for what you want, work hard in order to get what you need, I can’t always have your back. Mary isn’t gonna always be lookin’ out for you, I’m not either, you can’t just come to me because someone isn’t treating you like a child; you aren’t one, not anymore.”

You remained silent letting his words sink in. You hated to admit it but he seemed right, you couldn’t rely on him nor Mary, plus maybe you were too sensitive. Martyn was a man, you didn’t know and you stuck up for him, he probably doesn’t care about being called ‘Leftie’. You gave a small nod, Negan nodded.

**

After your talk with Negan, you remained quiet when around Negan’s men. You didn’t want to say anything to upset them, yet it seemed you had created a feud, the two soldiers from days ago had a grudge against you. On purposefully knocking into you, telling the workers to only deal with your points when Mary was with you; only Mary was out scavenging with a small group.

It was a problem, a real one. Yet, Negan’s words echoed in your head; you can’t act like a child and go running to him when in need, you had to handle this yourself. So, that’s what you decided to do, it wasn’t going so well.

“Mary is out, I need this now,” You try to sound stern but it comes out more of a plea, the women working the food table, the broth bubbling in the pan gives a sympathetic smile. The soldier, Smith, known by his last name because there are four other John’s was standing with his arm crossed. The shorter one from when you first met Martyn. “I have all the points together, I’ve been helping with laundry, what’s the big deal?” You asked.

“You’re a child, we can’t just give you things because you may or may not have earned it, your guardian has to do that for you.”

“You can’t have it both ways,” he frowns at you, “I’m either a child or not, you can’t tell me one week to learn to be an adult and then today say I can’t buy soup because I am not an adult, so what am I?” Your little rant caused the attention of everyone to turn, you didn’t realise your usually small voice was now a yell.

Smith didn’t like that, he stepped towards you with a new fire in his eyes, the mocking smile he had was now gone and replaced with a sneer. “Listen, you no good cow, you should have died the day Negan brought you here. In fact, he should have left you, but he showed all of us his soft side. No wonder he has to work harder to prove himself, he let a stupid bitch like you live,” you backed up a step, knocking into a table as he continued to stalk to you. “Yeah, nothing to say now, no one to stupidly look out for you too. Look around you, not everyone is gonna wanna save ya, not everyone is as stupid as Negan was on that day.”

“Or compassionate,” you say before you can think. “That’s what makes him good, better than you-”

Before you can finish a force so harsh knocks you off your feet. A deep pain is stinging your cheek, your whole face really, but mostly a burning sensation is stricken on your left side. Tears welling up in your eyes, you look up at Smith who is leering over your body as everyone around is too stunned to move.

“You really, really, shouldn’t have done that Smith.”

(So, long chapter, I know. Hopefully, everyone likes this. Totally am not hinting Mary is Mary Winchester, I kinda am, it’s funny too. Love me. Let me know what you think, that helps me lot. - Rosalee)
