the y is for justice

Thank you all so much for coming to the stream and popping through some ideas!

I’ve been struggling a lot with how I draw characters lately - I really want to break away from the anime style that has been there for a decade or so now. It can only be done through practice ofc, so I made this thing of Bakura.

Many thanks to @squigglydigg and @phuijl for suggesting practicing through different styles ;)

This was a lot more fun than I ever thought it would be, and if anyone is struggling with their style I recommend you try something like this. Grab one of your favourite characters and go crazy! You notice so many things about how you draw that you would normally never even think of.

Thanks

A/N: I hope I did these requests justice, enjoy!

(Y/N) knocked on the door to the screening room at the drive-in.  She used the back of her hand to wipe away the tears.  Jughead opened the door wearing a puzzled face.

“Hey,” (Y/N) said, trying to keep her voice from cracking.  “I know it’s late but-” she hesitated, not knowing what to say.  “I… I have a biology test tomorrow that I’m really stressed about.  Can I study here with you?”

“Yeah,” Jughead nodded, noticing her abnormally puffy eyes.  “Yeah, of course, come in.”  He opened the door wider so that she could enter.  (Y/N) shuffled into the room, trying to keep her sniffles as quiet as possible.  She plopped down on his bed and wrapped her arms around herself, ever so slightly rocking back and forth.  “You okay?” Jughead asked, sitting down next to her.

“What?” she mumbled, turning her head upwards so she could look at his face.  “Yeah, I’m just tired.”

“Then maybe you should go home,” he suggested.  “I’m sure you’ll do fine on your biology test.”

“No!” she shot up from the bed.  “I can’t- I’m not going home.”  Jughead stood up too and walked towards (Y/N).

“Why not?” he questioned, crossing his arms as he neared her.  She remained silent.  “(Y/N)?”

“It’s my parents!” she cried, giving up her façade.  “They… I can’t anymore, Jughead.”  Immediately understanding, Jughead pulled (Y/N) into his arms.  He enveloped her in a comforting hug, burying his face into her hair.

“I’m sorry,” he mumbled, stroking his thumb across her skin.  “I’m so sorry, (Y/N).”  Quietly, she sobbed into his chest, staining his shirt with tears.  They stood there in the middle of the room like that for a couple of minutes before Jughead pulled away.  He kept his hands on her shoulders as he held her in front of him. “Do you want to talk about it?”  (Y/N) shook her head.

“No,” she whispered. Jughead frowned but nodded.

“Did they hurt you?” he questioned, concernedly gazing into her eyes.  She bit her lip hesitantly, but rolled up her long-sleeved shirt to reveal bruises decorating both of her forearms.  “Jesus Christ, (Y/N).”  She said nothing, only rolled down her sleeves so that they covered her hands.

“Can I stay here tonight, Jug?” (Y/N) asked quietly.  Jughead nodded frantically.

“Yes, of course,” he agreed. “There’s no way in hell that I’m letting you go back home.”

“Thank you, Jug,” (Y/N) softly smiled.

“You know we’re playing Clueless right now,” he said, a smile creeping up on his lips as he tried to lighten the mood.  “Do you wanna go outside and watch it?”  (Y/N)’s smile widened.

“Yes!” she exclaimed. Jughead grinned as he grabbed her hand, leading her outside.  The night was frigid, and (Y/N) immediately grew cold with her lack of a jacket. Jughead noticed her shivering, and held up a finger to signal for her to wait for him as he ran back inside.  He walked back out holding a sweater, and (Y/N) grinned.  She slipped it on over her shirt, thanking him.

“Come on,” he urged, leading her to a comfortable place to sit and watch the movie.  The drive-in was completely vacant, Jughead and (Y/N) being the only two people watching the movie.  Jughead wrapped his arm around (Y/N)’s shoulders and she rested her head against him. They watched the movie together in blissful silence.  Neither of them were focused on the movie, though; instead, they took turns staring at each other when they thought the other wasn’t looking.  Once the movie finished, (Y/N) shifted so that she could properly look up at Jughead’s face.

“Jug,” she whispered, causing him to glance down at her.  He didn’t say anything, and so (Y/N) pushed herself up so her lips could reach his. Jughead softly cupped her face as he kissed back, holding her like she was a porcelain doll.  When they separated, they rested their foreheads against each other as they smiled.

“I don’t deserve you, (Y/N),” he whispered, keeping his eyes closed.  (Y/N) smiled sadly and leaned in for another kiss.

“You do, Jug,” she whispered against his lips.  “It’s me who doesn’t deserve you.”

“No,” he said, pulling away from her.  He brushed his thumb across her lips.  “You deserve everything beautiful the world offers you, (Y/N).”

me: evil clone shiro?? 👀👀

also me: i get it that this shiro could be #notshiro and a clone or evil or whatever but, what if he doesn’t know that he’s a clone?? if he has all of shiro’s memories and really thinks he’s shiro but then he’s like not, isn’t that pretty sad? what if he bonds with team voltron? what if he has a great time there? are we just gonna get rid of him once he “reveals” himself or whatever thing programmed in him activates? what if he doesn’t want to attack team voltron if that happens? what if the relationships he builds with them causes him not to want to betray them? what will he do? will he stay with the team? will he join the BOM? will he sacrifice his life for the team? what’s going to happen? i’m really worried about him please he’s so cute and i don’t want him to suffer.

requested by anon; Hi!! I really love your stories! Could you please do one where Tom and Y/N work together in a little cafe or store and he makes her nervous (cuz he’s so hot) and when he realises this, he decides to be a little shit and mess with her and make her all flustered. Just super fluffy please, thank you!!! Xx

summary: [Coffee Shop AU] You’ve fallen madly in love with your co-worker Tom, and because you make it so blatantly obvious–he catches on and decides to have a little fun with it.

warnings: some swear words, but thats about it

a/n: i’m a slut for coffee shop au’s y’all, and i hope this does your request justice, love!!

“I have a soy latte with an extra shot of espresso,” you called out from behind the bar, pushing the warm drink out for pick up. Turning back to clean the steamer, your co-worker and friend standing beside you bumped your hip with her own to get your attention. You glanced over to her, and she gestured with her head to someone who just entered the coffee shop.

Your heart instantly skipped a beat, butterflies erupting in your chest as you watched him wave to your boss, don an apron, and run a hand through his unruly curls. He hopped on the register, and began taking orders from the growing line, flashing his million-dollar smile, winking to get tips, charm dripping from every word that came out of his mouth.

Can we talk about how the killer cop, Jeronimo Yanez, is Mexican-American? While not white, this terrible example of pathological anti-blackness demonstrates to us that white supremacy can use non-black people of color to uphold its systems of oppression. I know for certain that my fellow Mexicans can personally attest to the abundance of anti-blackness that exists in our communities. Jeronimo murdered Philando and I’ve not heard any of my woke Latinx or Mexican friends say a peep. He’s a monster, right? He’s also your brother, uncle and cousin. Y'all, this is where the ally work matters.

Jeronimo, a brown man, was acquitted not because of his innocence, but because the 10 white jurors were able to identify with his light-skinned Latinx version of anti-blackness–and established an intersectional kinship built on hatred for black people.

While not always wielding a gun, members of our community routinely express and enact anti-blackness. This happens through words and actual violence. Philando’s case may be extreme but it is not unusual. As Latinx folks who often benefit from a hierarchy of racism, we must be vigilant and dutiful in confronting anti-blackness in others and ourselves. As allies for black liberation, the onus is on us to do coalition work and be willing to sacrifice privilege and relationships in pursuit of the struggle. As a queer Chicano, I don’t take responsibility for the existence of white supremacy but I certainly admit that I can do more to confront anti-blackness around me and within myself.

As Philando’s girlfriend Diamond stated: “He was pulled over because, per officer Yanez, he had a wide nose and looked like a suspect.” “God help America,” she continued. Yes, God help America but also let us Latinx folks help each other confront and act on the problem. This time, the problem is ours.

spansh translation:

“Dios ayude a América”, continuó.
Sí, Dios ayude a América, pero también permite ayudarnos a nosotros Latinx a enfrentar y actuar en este problema. Esta vez, el problema es nuestro.

Okay so I been thinking

Y’know how in season 2 of Young Justice, Raquel gets married, but they never actually show or say who she’s getting married to? Weird, huh? It always bugged me.

But. What if. They didn’t say who she was marrying.

Because it was another lady.

Season 2 aired on cartoon network and Greg et al were under some restrictions about what kind of relationships they could have on their show. Greg has said multiple times he’d like to have non-straight people/relationships in Young Justice, but was never allowed to because of the rigidity coming down from the network of where the show was airing. So maybe this was a clever way of side-stepping those restrictions.

Think about it…they never say who she’s marrying…they never indicate the gender of the person she’s marrying…

So…just saying. Maybe Raquel has a wife.
