the world we found

Dear lover,
There’s a reason to why we found eachother the way we did
the world was against us
and now we are so close
soon we can be together
just you and I

12.18 The Memory Remains
Guys like us, we’re not exactly the type of people they write about in history books. But the people we saved, they’re our legacy. They’ll remember us, and then I guess… we’ll eventually fade away too. But that’s fine, because we left the world better than we found it.
What are you doing? Leaving our mark.

The post no-one was waiting for (but that I’m doing anyway) pt.2

Dearly Beloved,

here we are gathered here today to get through this thing called Men’s Free Program – last group.

Usual warnings apply, this post may become quite long. If you feel offended by anything I write, asks box is there for you.

ISU Feed was horrible, but sadly that’s all we got since fancams are few and far between. For reference (and also because Uncle Kurt says some very interesting things about jumps) CBC broadcast here:

Same as the previous campaign but now transported to the far side of the world and on a mountain top. Having climbed to the peak we found an ancient temple and a LOT of harpies in the highest most chamber. We were holding out well at first, but it was getting progressively worse, and by this point we are in a LOT of trouble.

DM to my wife “…and that brings you down to 4 health”

Me OOC “Is there a way i can replicate what we did in that mine? I could cover you two with my body while bringing the roof down on the remaining harpies.”

DM looks at me with an expression of defeat “Yes, technically if you were to combine the ring with the Sorcerer’s Enlarge person it should work just fine, but dont forget she’s having really bad luck with her Wild Magic.”

During the last few encounters every spell cast involved her activating it with a range of effects from turning water to blood and her speaking with pink bubbles.

Me OOC “Ill risk it.”

Me: Activates my ring “Raji, hit me with Enlarge person then both of you get under me!”

DM rolls for Wild Magic, it comes, and then

DM “No, no no no, NO!” Keeps rolling dice and checking notes.

Everyone “Oh god, are we all dead?”

DM “Roll dex saves to get under her”

Everyone passes the saves as the DM goes to get a drink refill and a moment later comes back white as a sheet.

After a moment my wife asked what was wrong. “…that potion of hers is still active, she just turned off the ring.”

Me “Wait wait.. so.. what size class am i becoming?”

DM reveals due to their alterations to the potion’s ability to multiply the effects of spells being added to the imbiber in successive increasing amounts, the still lingering effects, as well as a wild magic cast of growth, on top of my ring AND the newly cast Enlarge Person. “Large, To Huge, to Colossal, to.. Titanic i guess.. i.. no its PAST that.. like EIGHT freaking classes effectively… your now HALF the size of the mountain. The biggest mountain… but like.. you are now a good 6 miles tall.”

The party had been laughing pretty hard as i pointed out that i still had an action left this turn.

Me “I stomp onto the mountain and leave a footprint, (Note i am not wearing boots.) and next to it ‘write my name was here.’ ”

The DM has pretty much given up at this point, “Okay! Okay okay, you demolished the mountain and in its place you leave… a mile wide Draconic pawprint… lake. Anything else?”

Me IC to the party sitting on me.. somewhere “Now THATS how you leave an impression!”

SPN FAMILY LOVE AND ACCEPTANCE DAY

So many great writers have been on the verge of giving up lately. Hateful messages, frustration and anger has been building and it’s time to put a stop to it. We want to remind ourselves of why we fell into this fandom in the first place, and what made us stay.

As we see it this show is built so much on a foundation of love. Brotherly love, platonic love, familial love and once in awhile romantic love. And so is this fandom. We write, draw and make aesthetics because we love this show and its characters and through it we’ve found love for each other. We found friends half way around the world because of this fandom and this show. So we want to take a day and celebrate that love.

Now, we hope that you’ll join us in celebrating that love. We wanna dedicate a day to love and friendship. You can make fan art, aesthetics or write fics, drabbles or poetry. You can make it about the love you see on the show or the love you see in the fandom. To the show or to all the things that makes the fandom what it is. To all the things that makes it worth keep fighting. We wanna remind everyone they are not alone.

So, March 18th post all the love, fill your and our dashes with love. <3

Lots of love from @winchesterswoonathon, @mamapeterson and @thing-you-do-with-that-thing

Rules:

  1. Everything must be posted on March 18th - don’t worry about timezones. If it is March 18th where you are it is fine.
  2. It has to revolve around the fandom, fans, actors or characters.
  3. Show other SPN Family members some love.
  4. NO HATE in any shape or form is allowed. Do not use this day to put others down to praise someone else.
  5. Everyone can join in with fanvids, aesthetics, drabbles, one shots, series, whatever your heart content.

‘in love with a ghost - complex feelings about my own existence feat. jungkook

I was talking to a friend who was feeling down about human-caused global climate change. “It may be,” I told a friend in London as we walked across Tower Bridge, “that our ticket was punched before we ever got started.” While there is no doubt we’re cutting our time on earth shorter through carbon emissions and the destruction of the ecology, it might be that our species was never going to make it past the end of the womb of our ice-age birth. I explained this, about how fragile an organism we are, and how the ice ages cycle. She laughed, she was used to my strange form of hope.

“You have to choose to have hope, or just jump out of a window,” a person I was interviewing once told me, a person who’d been accused of techno-utopianism. We were walking along the California coast hills at sunset, talking about all the ways our technological lives could go wrong, and the many ways it is going wrong. He wasn’t utopian, it turned out, he’d thought of the worst long before his detractors had. He’d decided to try to head it off, instead of jumping out of a window.

We are diseased and angry and we kill each other and ourselves and all the world. We are killing off life on Earth like a slow moving asteroid. I try to look at this, and my own part in it. Sometimes it is overwhelming. I feel so powerless trying to comprehend all the terrible things we face, much less get past them into our future, with our humanity and our inconceivably beautiful little blue-green planet preserved.

All these grown-up monsters for my grown-up mind, they are there in the nights I wake up terrified and taunted by death. When I feel so small and broken, when despair and terror take me, I have a secret tool, a talisman against the night. I don’t use it too often so that it doesn’t lose its power. I learned it on airplanes, which are strange and thrilling and full of fear and boredom and discomfort. When I am very frightened, I look out the window on airplanes and say very quietly:

I have seen the tops of clouds

And I have. In all the history of humanity, I am one of the few that has seen the tops of clouds. Many would have died to do so, and some did. I have seen them many times. I have seen the Earth from space, and spun it around like a god to see what’s on the other side. We are the only consciousness we’ve ever found that has looked deep into the infinite dark, and instead of dark, we saw galaxies. Galaxies! Suns and worlds beyond number. We have looked into our world and found atoms, atomic forces, systems that dance to the glorious music of the universe. We have seen actual wonders that verge on the ineffable. We have coined a word for the ineffable. We have coined thousands of words for the ineffable. In our pain we find a kind of magic, in our worst and meanest specimens we find the flesh of a common human story. We are red with it.

I know mysteries that great philosophers would have died for, just to have them whispered in their dying ears. I can look them up on my smartphone. I live in the middle of miracles, conceptions and magics easily worth many lifetimes to learn, from which I can pick and choose. I have wisdom and knowledge poured around me like a river, more than I could learn in a thousand lifetimes, and I am still alive. It is good that I am alive, it is good that we are alive. Even if we kill ourselves off with nuclear fire, or gray goo, or drown ourselves in stinking acid oceans, it is good that we have lived, that we did all of this, and that we grew into what we are, and learned to dream of what we could be. The only thing we can say for sure is that we will die, but we will die having gone so far above our primordial ponds and primate forests that we saw the tops of clouds.

She’s our legacy.

Rounding the corner into the library you were met with a sight that was very familiar to you; your dad and uncle sitting at a table in the library, drinking beers, and probably talking about the last hunt.

“Hey Daddy, hi Uncle Sam.” You said as you walked into the room.

“Hi babygirl.” Dean replied as he looked up at you.

“Hey Y/N/N.” Sam responded as he patted the hand you laid on his shoulder as you passed by him.

“How was the hunt?” You questioned before plopping yourself on your father’s lap.

Dean let out a grunt as your weight landed on him. He wrapped his arms around you and gave you a tight squeeze, a gesture of reassurance he always did when he came back from a hunt.

God’s command that Jews should be holy is as much a manifesto for the repair of the world as it is a program for the healing of the soul. Jewish life is life with a mission: to grow religiously, to question life’s meaning, and to leave the world a better place than we found it.

THE FEELS - a comedy about the female orgasm
An improvised comedy about a lesbian bachelorette weekend that goes awry when one of the brides admits she's never had an orgasm.

What is The Feels?

The Feels is an improvised comedy about a group of girlfriends (and one dude) on a lesbian bachelorette weekend in wine country. Andi (Constance Wu) and Lu (Angela Trimbur) are excited to celebrate their upcoming wedding with their closest friends. On the first night, the brides and their friends get wasted, and Lu admits to everyone that she’s never had an orgasm. This admission comes as a complete surprise to Andi and derails the weekend in unexpected and poignant ways. It causes everyone to reflect on trust, love, and their journeys to experiencing their first orgasm.

Director’s Statement

Hello there,

Thank you so much for visiting our Kickstarter page!

So, The Feels is an improvised comedy about the female orgasm. I’m excited about this subject matter (LOL) because the female orgasm is something that is relatively taboo, and rarely discussed in our culture. And while the film’s concept could have been executed in a very broad, and predictable way, we’ve taken a grounded, improvised approach that explores the underlying dynamics that allowed this “orgasm deception” to take place.

I chose to make this an improvised film because I wanted to capture the funny, weird things that arise naturally among girlfriends. And I wanted to create a story where they talk about their sexuality in a way that feels real, and true, and particular. In order to achieve this, we cast a mixture of comedic actresses (Constance Wu and Angela Trimbur), stand up comedians (Ever Mainard and Josh Fadem) and my real life best friends (recording artist, KARYYN, and my co-writer, Lauren Parks).

I think that because of this approach, we’ve created a naturalistic comedic tone that is particular to The Feels, and I think that the amazing women in the film have something truly unique to say about female relationships and sexuality.

Thank you again for your support, and we can’t wait to share this film with you!

xoxo

Jenée LaMarque (Co-Writer / Director)

P.S. Looking at the statistics on representation of women in film and television can be really discouraging. But it is my intention in my career to “be the change” that I want to see in the world. And that is why our movie was purposefully engineered to create opportunities for women, POC and the LGBTQ community. We are proud to say that we have an 80% female cast and a 68% female crew.

Why do we need your help?

We are so close to finishing! And we really need your help! While we have an amazing edit of the movie, we need help to cover color correction, post production sound, festival costs, and other expenses to help bring this movie to the world. We have found incredible collaborators, but need to compensate them. Please help us in adding that final layer of polish!
