the woman who is just beautiful

did i mention how much i loved that Eun Tak was portrayed as doing everything for herself?

like, the woman she became wasn’t the result of Shin’s love, or knowing Shin, or him making her stronger etc because she didn’t remember him

that beautiful woman we meet at the age of 29 is all of her own creation. her goals, her strength and her willpower.

and going from that young girl who just needed someone to lean on, to a grown woman who helped herself throughout her worst, i think it was some really beautiful character development.

there was no cheesy “his love made me stronger”, it was her own love that made her the person she became.

i am in literal tears right now, i’m just so moved by the power and strength all the protestors had today. resistance and the belief of standing up for what is right is one of the most beautiful things to watch. i am proud, and always be, to be a woman.

Juliana's haircut makes me swoon. Legit, Alexa looks so elegant and classy with that length of hair. AND BELLA'S German accent does things to me. I can't explain it. Just slow claps it out.

I love the new Juliana’s haircut (although I also like with long hair). I agree with you, Alexa is so elegant. I love her outfit (especially, with the black overalls). Magnificent. The costumes are really beautiful in this show! Nicole is so funny and it is a character that I appreciate (and I’m surprised myself). A woman who does not let anyone dictate her life. I hope to know more about her in season 3.

Small gift :

I’ve been living in the same world my whole life.
I’ve seen that world go against me, embrace me, push me. This world brought me to a personal place I never could have fathomed.
The world has seen me as a boy, a man, handsome, a gay man, a young woman, beautiful, sexy, and a mature woman.
I used to be lauded for my smarts and career. Now I’m asked to show more skin and typically only get praise for my appearance.

I didn’t march on 1/21/2017. I’m too anxious about crowds. But I want to be counted as someone who speaks up, who works to change the world every day.

This post is either a shot in the dark or a beginning of more writing than you’ve seen from me in years. Hopefully this is just the beginning. 💎

I want to start a thing where people who don’t feel valid, go to people who love them to be validated like

Trans man/woman: “ I was misgendered today and now I feel like crap”

Me: “ you know what? They don’t know what they’re talking about. You’re an incredibly handsome/beautiful young man/lady who I love dearly and deserves the world”

NB person: “ I was called Ma'am/sir today and now doubting myself.”

Me: “ you are an ethereal being who doesn’t need a label. You are your own person”

I just want everyone to feel loved.

Send me messages and I will try to make you feel better :^)

carrie fisher isn’t just princess leia. carrie fisher isn’t just an actress we all admire from a famous series of movies made a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. carrie fisher isn’t just another name on the list of shitty things 2016 has done to people i admire.

carrie fisher is a woman who struggled with addiction and mental illness and never sugar coated it - she spoke honestly, openly, about every ugly truth, and made me so much less ashamed of the things i struggle with in my daily life.

carrie fisher is a woman who fought back against body shaming and misogyny, against agesim, who looked at critics and said “yes, i am a woman who has aged, and had children, and struggled with depression and addiction and my body has changed, so you can just shut the fuck up and deal with it”, and it was absolutely beautiful.

carrie fisher is a woman who was placed in the role of “princess” but didn’t conform to the typical hollywood idea of what a princess should be. she’s loud, brash, crass, and unapologetic for being so.

she’s an idol and an inspiration and she’s a woman who saved my life many times just by being who she was and never shying away from it or feeling the need to say sorry. carrie fisher is so much and more and i cannot begin to stomach the thought of 2016 taking her away from me, from her family, from the rest of the world and those of us who love her so dearly.

i love you, space momma. we all do. keep fighting the good fight.

if u ever worry about your future as a wlw please know that my mother who just turned 40 and her girlfriend who started transitioning at 39 (who are both divorced and had children w/other ppl) are currently singing duets in our kitchen while my stepmum plays acoustic guiter and they’re beautiful and happy and there is always hope for you

for real though, why don’t people talk more about the queer rep on Sense8?

There’s an interracial lesbian couple. One of whom is a trans woman.

There are two hispanic men who are in love. They have a platonic hispanic woman life partner (that’s quasi head canon because it’s never exactly clarified or confirmed, but they love her and care about her).

There’s a german bad boy who definitely is down to sleep with men, but really loves this beautiful indian woman who is a GIANT nerd.

There’s a scene where a queer trans woman talks to a closeted gay man about the nature of self and truth and love and the beauty of embracing who we actually are, the holy blessing of it.

I’m just…….why don’t we talk about sense8 more? Is it because it’s all weird and scifi like? Is it because it’s a lot to watch? Is it because of something else? Why isn’t it more discussed in the queer community? It’s everything I want in queer rep.

This is a project to ensure the success of Steve Aoki feat. Louis Tomlinson’s single “Just Hold On” - a tribute to Louis’ late mother, Johannah Deakin, who passed away on December 7th 2016.

As a fandom we can do anything we put our minds to, and as such, we’d love to see this beautiful and moving tribute to a truly inspiring woman recognised and appreciated as far and wide as possible.

We’re going to be asking for your help a lot over the coming weeks but for now we’d love it if you could follow us to keep up to date with the project. Once the single’s out, we’ll be able to really get to work. If you’ve got any questions, suggestions or if you’d like to help, please let us know.

can i just talk about chyler leigh for a second?

this is a woman who’s struggled through life to get where she is. she grew up in an broken household with an abusive family. she battled addiction and came out the other side. she’s fought to change her life and she’s made a beautiful family with an amazing husband. she’s a mother of three, with two of her children on the autism spectrum, she’s endlessly proud of her children and in her interviews you can see how much she truly loves them.

even though she’s busy, making this absolutely amazing career for herself- she’s got so much time for us. this woman reads our letters to her and responds with love and warmth and joy, she empathises with us and roots for us and loves her fans. she calls us her friends and makes sure that we feel important every single day. she’s so supportive of the LGBT community and acknowledges the importance of alex’s storyline, she takes this role and the real life implications of her character seriously and is so proud to be impacting on our lives so positively. this isn’t even mention her incredible talent- but you only need to watch her to see that.

she’s my inspiration every single day and i’m so glad i discovered her because she brings me (and so many others) so much joy.

You know what I thought was the hands down best line of this episode?

It’s this line right here

(yuuri jishin no miryoku de tatakaeru)

“You can fight with your own personal charm.”     (subs are above but just in case the image doesn’t load)

Why, you ask? That’s because if you remember this scene from episode 4

that comes with the line

(vikutoru ha vikutoru de ite hoshii)

“I want Victor to be Victor” / “I want you to stay who you are, Victor”

It is the scene in which Yuuri explicitly tells Victor it’s okay for him to just be himself around Yuuri instead of changing his identity for him, and the reason I believe that the line in episode 6 is the best in the whole episode, is because it mirrors this scene. Victor tells Yuuri it’s okay to be himself while he skates to Eros. It’s okay to skate just as Yuuri and not as a pork cutlet bowl fatale, or a beautiful woman, because to Victor, plain old Yuuri is good enough.

And to make things even better, this line from episode 4

(fumikonda bundake fumikonde kureru)

“He (Victor) opens up just as much as I opened up, for me”

Of which a more accurate translation and discussion can be found here. This line, which denotes a mutual and balanced bond between Victor and Yuuri is evidence that Victor isn’t just saying it’s okay for Yuuri to skate as Yuuri on a whim, he’s saying it on purpose and he really does mean it. Victor actively furthers his relationship with Yuuri, and returns the favour by accepting him for who he is this episode, just as Yuuri has done for himself in episode 4.

Another sign that Victor and Yuuri are getting closer is Yuuri’s use of casual language instead of formal language forms. I noted before, in episode 4 as well, that Yuuri had begun to use casual language with Victor, and that it signalled Yuuri’s opening up, as well as how he started becoming more and more comfortable around Victor. However soon after, Yuuri reverted back to using formal language, reestablishing their formal relationship.

But in the last 2 episodes, after the 5 month skip between episode 4 and 5, we have seen Yuuri make use of casual language more and more with Victor, even going so far as to use polite language forms at the beginning of this episode

(ano vikutoru, nesasete kudasai)

“Um Victor, please let me sleep”

which although acts as a means to convey a point, is also playful in overall tone, and further portrays Victor and Yuuri’s budding relationship, which is developing so beautifully and naturally throughout the season.

There are lots of lovely women who are overweight, don’t fill in their eyebrows “properly”, don’t care to wear makeup, have mismatched clothes or crooked teeth or weird bangs, and every time you criticize a woman for THAT instead of her toxic opinions, you’re just reinforcing the view that women are nothing but their appearance. You’re also reinforcing the idea that “conventionally” beautiful women can get away with hateful words and behaviour.

Can we just appreciate how Rowan looks like an independent woman from a 50s movie who’s watching one of her many worshippers walk off as she thinks of how boring life is beginning to get, and that having so much adoration surrounding her because of her beauty isn’t fulfilling, and that she wants to travel the world and write and live among nature because that’s what really will make her happy but societal norms and judgement is blocking her path and she hates it. Like I’m getting all of this from a single facial expression and pose by her and she’s only 15 like slay every single part of my life

when women write effortlessly perfect women, the character is a Mary-Sue hero complex. there is no woman, we are reminded, who would be a hero without flaws. the critique of bella swan is not her abusive relationship, it’s that she comes two-dimensional, saves the day by existing, loved by all, pure of heart. no real problems but her love life. no real depth but beautiful above all nature. we laugh at the authors of goddess-heroines, we call them lazy and immature, self-inserts, horrifically over-talented and unrealistic. women who write these women are selfish and talentless.

but when men write this same woman, they are just following the pattern of things. how many bella swans have been on the arms of action heroes - but no, since it isn’t her story, her character flaws go without mention. when men write strangely sexualized powerful ladies, they are always the same wet dream - but men who write these death queens are called heroes of feminism for their smirking portrayals of the same classically attractive sword-wielding back-talking girl-with-three-brothers. her father always wanted a boy and that’s her biggest problem. the woman he loves is a cheesy dress-wearing pixie girl, but the movie is still cute. how many perfect women are sitting pretty in their pale faces beside the leading man. it doesn’t matter at least she has a speaking role. at least once or twice she’s funny. little girls learn that a man’s picture of what is perfect is more true than a woman’s idea of the same thing. the same three pictures, painted over and over again, by people who are revolutionaries or geniuses but all men. calm down. it’s just artistic licence.

calm down. calm down. stop making a big deal out of everything.

i feel like lesbian love is always a dance…i’ve been thinking about how i view love lately and it is so much to think about. the idea of loving someone who is not viewed by culture as a complete person and of meeting them when you yourself aren’t a complete person either…i think people who aren’t lesbians don’t understand the trauma of having to constantly make a case for a life without men. and then beyond that even just of knowing a woman, that’s a beautiful thing and the most intense feeling on earth i think? women carry so much pain literally all of the time…i found a notebook the other day from forever ago where i wrote “loving you is heavy, girl, but not because you are too heavy” and i think that kinda sums up the constant exchange of comforting someone who is viewed as Less and giving yourself what you need and also accepting someone else’s life into your own…yeah. it is 9am and being a lesbian is a lot.

Can we, like, stop reducing complex, multi-layered characters into flat ones just for racial stereotypes?

Can we write Reyes as a complex character, full of life and that Aesthetic™ while also being bitter at the world, being damn good at his job and slightly aloof while truly caring for his men. Or will he forever be reduced to swearing in Spanish and overused la chancla jokes with no character growth whatsoever because you can only see Latino jokes.

Can we write D.Va as a young woman, who is skilled beyond her years, excitable and quirky but also affected by the war she’s been in and the stuff she’s seen, someone who has a lot of room to grow but has also been forced into a position that requires maturity. Or will she forever be a dorito gremlin and baby jokes because she’s Korean and people immediately assume she’s got the emotional capacity of a child.

Can we write Zarya as a woman who’s worked her way up, who has become strong because she worked hard and trained for many, many hours to build her body like that, someone who built their strength to wear they can rip a particle canon off an omnic to save her people. Or will she forever be strong only because she’s Russian so of course she’s strong, right?

Can we write Morrison as someone who has had a lot of stress and the pressure to be perfect in the eyes of the media, with Overwatch breathing down his neck, only to have everything be ripped away from him and his only motivation left is why he lost his family, who went into the SEP knowing he might die but did it anyways. Or will he forever be White Bread™ because hey, he’s a white male so he’s automatically an awful human being and an asshole.

Can we write Mei as someone who woke up to find everything she knew gone in one horrible blizzard, discovering that 10 years have passed in the blink of an eye, finding that her goal of saving the world hasn’t been progressed while she’s gone, but still manages to smile at things and giggle at puns, still manages to be friendly to those around her instead of slumping into a major depression. Or will her being Chinese forever cast her as either being an evil, angry, small Asian woman, or naive because people associate a Chinese accent with failing to understand things?

By all means, add their culture. Add traditions and language and beautiful things from all around the world. But do not squish them into their stereotypes and destroy multi-faceted characters and nullify any development they go through.
