「簡単に言うと血の爆弾だ。血行が阻害されて異様に膨らんでいる。ゴルフ・ボールを吞み込んだ蛇みたいにね。それが爆発すると、脳の機能は停止する。しかし手術するわけにもいかない。ちょっとした刺激で爆発してしまうからね。つまり現実的な言い方をすれば、死ぬのを待つだけだ。あと一週間で死ぬかも知れないし、一か月かもしれない。それは誰にもわからない。」
