Summary: Deciding to stay in for a date, Peter and the Reader are faced with annoying and embarrassing comments from the whole team, who are unaware of their relationship.

Warnings: language, fluff, annoying avengers (??), embarrassed!Peter, embarrassed!Reader, cuteness, LOTR trilogy. (Let me know if I missed any)

A/N: Alright homies, I apologize it has taken me so long to upload something. I’ve been reaally stressed. So hopefully this is okay? For the anon that requested this, I hope you like it. I’d love some feedback, as always. Enjoy reading!

Dark, gray clouds blocked any source of light from shining through the big, thick glass windows surrounding every inch of the building.

The entire tower was filled with a solemn mood that spread into every corner and room.

Most of the team dreaded days like these, since it put a damper on their mood, (especially Steve).

You, however, cherished days like these the most.

It’s where you find your peace and inner self, no matter how depressing that may sound.

It helps you relax and release any stresses that corrupt your thoughts.

But the best reason of all is that you don’t have to leave the house, even if you had a date with Peter tonight.

However, thinking that idea through, you realized something.

The whole team would be here.

With Peter and you.

During your date.

Well, fuck.

anonymous asked:

Dr Who but each incarnation is swapped with one of their companions.

omg?? I love it??

The First Doctor:

She’s not completely unfriendly, exactly, she just doesn’t have time for humans being idiots. In the right circumstances, she can actually be very warm. She loves history, which is lucky because her granddaughter Susan does too (they tell people Susan is her daughter, but even then it’s a bit of a stretch, human ages are weird). Of course, then two of Susan’s teachers follow her home one night, and next thing the Doctor knows she has a crotchety old history teacher and a handsome young science teacher on her spaceship with no way to get rid of them that isn’t morally questionable.

Whoops?

The humans help her lose some of her haughtiness. She leaves Susan in the 22nd century to become her own woman.

Along the way and against her better judgement, she falls hopelessly for Ian Chesterton. He wants to stay with her forever, but she knows it would never work, and encourages him to go with John Foreman in the Dalek Time Machine to get back to his own time.

Later, in other lives, she checks in on him occasionally.

The Second Doctor:

The baby face is a problem. It takes a good twenty minutes on a lot of occasions to get anyone to take her seriously. On the bright side, a lot of Polly’s clothes fit her now.

She finds a best friend in Scotsman Jamie McCrimmon, whose rather naive approach to futuristic technology is extremely refreshing, as is his unique insightfulness.

After Ben and Polly leave them, they rescue Victoria, who Jamie is utterly taken with. Victoria is unsure about living a life so unsupervised by someone older and won’t listen to the Doctor’s insistence that she is in fact perfectly qualified to look after them all.

She and Victoria spend a good many nights aboard the TARDIS talking about women’s history and the things to come for women in the future and how women act on other planets. Victoria is fascinated, occasionally horrified, and often quietly thrilled at the things she learns.

It’s a shame to see her go, but all she ever wanted was a family and security, and the Doctor can’t provide that.

They meet an eccentric man on a space station, with funny trousers and an obsession with the recorder. The Doctor and Jamie like him instantly, and invite him on board only to learn that the man had been considering stowing away if not invited.

The Time Lords take her friends away from her. She is forced to regenerate and exiled to Earth, as punishment for her interference.

The Third Doctor:

Shrewd, passionately devoted to science, and not one to take kindly to interruptions or anyone trying to talk down to or even disagree with her, it’s a wonder the Doctor even gets hired by UNIT at all. But then again, beggars can’t be choosers.

On the bright side, this fellow John Smith from Cambridge seems to be the one person around with an actual brain and not just a penchant for attacking first and thinking later.

They’re friends instantly. Or, they are once she makes it perfectly clear that she is the cleverer of the two. The look on his face when he realises is a memory she’ll treasure forever.

He eventually leaves to go back to his own research, upon realising she doesn’t need him.

It’s a shame and she misses him, but then Jo Grant comes into her life. Despite an awful first impression, the two women are soon fiercely devoted to each other. Jo keeps going on about women having to stick together amongst all the army boys, and while the Doctor could usually not care less about gender politics, if it means Jo hangs around her more, then so be it.

The Master turns up. It’s exhausting and exasperating and oh so much fun

Meanwhile, the Doctor’s told herself to not let herself fall for humans, after how much Ian hurt. But with Jo, it’s impossible not to. (Not that she hasn’t noticed the Brigadier’s lingering stares, or failed to appreciate him in his uniform. But he’s far too professional to ever do anything, and too trigger happy besides.)

Jo is like sunshine and she’s always there and smiling and pressing herself against the Doctor out of fear or shock, until one day they’re in the supply closet of a spaceship and they’re kissing furiously instead of listening out for their pursuers.

It’s wonderful, being with Jo. Until Clive Jones comes along, and the Doctor has to tell her to forget about her and marry the nice young man who can grow old with her and give her the life she wants.

She drinks more champagne than she is proud of that night.

Luckily, along comes Sarah Jane Smith, who is exactly the kind of human that the Doctor automatically adores. Inquisitive, sharp, and a vocal feminist. What a woman.

Of course, then giant alien spiders happen, and it’s time for a change.

The Fourth Doctor:

Or… not. Apparently, she’s doomed to be young, attractive, humanoid, and pale skinned throughout all her lives. There are worse fates, but she wouldn’t mind a little variety, frankly. And being so small is getting infuriating.

Harry takes a long while to take her seriously, but once he does, he is steadfastly loyal. Sarah Jane takes the regeneration in stride for the most part.

And after them, Leela, who is so strange and savage but so utterly charming in her honesty. They share a few kisses, but nothing more.

Then comes Romana. A young Time Lord who looks older than her, is far taller than is sensible, and has an even more absurd grin. She can’t stand him, with his bragging about his grades and thinking he knows everything.

She soon teaches him that experience wins every time.

Of course, then he spots some pretty princess on Tara, and next thing she knows, the moment the whole Key To Time mess is sorted, Romana is now a less taller, less ridiculous, utterly beautiful Time Lady in her first regeneration.

She tries to argue against what she can only consider body theft, or at least copying, but it is a relief to not have to crane her neck up to speak to her companion.

Romana becomes a most dear friend. She’s missed being around someone like her, someone who understands. It makes it all the worse when she leaves, leaving the Doctor with only Adric and his incessant questions.

The Fifth Doctor:

There’s something about this body, a regality, that commands a little more respect than the ones before it, despite it following the pattern of her others.

Adric’s questions exasperate her, while Tegan’s demands to be taken home are met with gentle requests for patience and promises of Heathrow airport, and this Traken prince she’s picked up is thankfully one of the most polite people she’s ever had in the TARDIS. Decent brain on him, too.

Tegan’s smile sometimes makes her stomach do backflips. The Doctor ignores it. She’s learned her lesson. It’s almost a relief to see Tegan reach her breaking point and leave, except it isn’t, because for a long while it feels like a part of her is missing.

Turlough is a curiosity, but a nice one who makes for surprisingly good company in the absence of the others.

Perpugilliam Brown is a surprise. The Doctor remembers why she has tried to avoid America where possible in her travels. Americans are loud. But in the case of Peri, it involves shouting at the Master, and as such, the Doctor decides that Perpugilliam Brown can stay as long as she likes.

Between the two of them and soon Erimem, uncrowned Pharaoh of Egypt, they make quite the team.

The Sixth Doctor:

It’s about time! Finally, a more weathered model. Peri is surprised to say the least, and seems a little disappointed to lose out on her best friend who had until now looked a very similar age to her, but soon realises very little has changed.

And now she lets the Doctor take care of her a bit better. Thank goodness for that! The maternal instincts in this body are absurdly strong, she has no idea what she would do if she couldn’t express them.

Now, the borderline narcissistic but quietly lovable history professor she accidentally picks up some time after losing Peri is a trickier matter. Still, at least he shares her love for chocolate cake.

The Seventh Doctor:

Bright, bubbly, and able to get most people to like her within ten seconds. Now this is a regeneration she likes. Plus, her most impressive set of lungs yet. Handy, for calling companions who like to wander off.

She tries to not encourage Ace’s use of explosives, but it’s difficult when she sees how genuinely happy they make the girl. She’s getting soft in her old age, she knows.

Still, at least her brain makes up for it. She can out-think a computer, easily. The universe is her chessboard and she’ll do whatever the hell she pleases with it.

The Eighth Doctor:

She’s a jolly thing. Always keen for adventure, ready to shout at anyone who deserves it, and just wants to have a good time, really.

After a rather rocky start involving amnesia and kissing the cardiologist who had caused her regeneration in the first place, the Doctor is just minding her own business when she accidentally messes with history.

It seems that saving this stowaway on the R101 might not have been the best idea after all. But he’s so charming and sweet and genuine, sharing her utter passion for life, that by the time she realises her mistake, she’s not willing to part with him.

That goes… about as well as one might expect.

The Ninth Doctor:

It’s funny, being a weathered old war veteran with a guilty conscience, and simultaneously looking like someone who could be on the front of a magazine.

Life is hard, after the time war, but she meets a man with big ears and blue eyes and things get better. A lot better. It feels good to smile again.

The addition of Captain Jack Harkness is an interesting one, but she’s always said the more the merrier. Their other companion is not quite as happy about this development, but before long they’re the best of friends.

The Tenth Doctor:

She’s gentler now, somehow. Oh, she has her anger and her snark, and boy does this body have a set of lungs on her. But she’s so much softer, underneath.

Losing her friends from her last body takes its toll. She at least manages to avoid comparing Martha to them that came before her. Martha is wonderful, always completing even the most impossible tasks that the Doctor puts to her. They part on good terms, after the Master’s ravaging of the Earth. (The Master had not been so impressed with this version of her. He had trouble seeing the strength within, seeing that she was more than the duality of compassion and shouting.) Martha needs to look after her family, and that’s probably for the best.

And then there’s the skinny idiot in the suit. He actually talks faster than she does, which is absurd, but she wonders if that’s simply because of his questionable family. Perhaps not letting them get a word in is how he survives.

Either way, they get along like a house on fire. Losing him, wiping his memory and seeing him stare right through her and smile that stupid smile, is almost enough to break her.

No more companions, she swears.

The Eleventh Doctor:

It’s all about fun, now. Impressing the little boy whose garden she crashes in and then impressing him when he’s grown up and has waited 14 years for her. (To hell with her rule about no more companions. Her old self was full of dumb ideas anyway.)

Oh yes, she likes Rory Williams a lot. And his best friend John isn’t bad either. Mind you, that nose…

She has her spaceship, and her boys, and life is good. Well, there’s River Song to worry about, but she can never be sure if the archaeologist is more interested in her or John. Just one more mystery, it seems.

Losing Rory, and then John, is hard. But she knows that they’re happy, and that’s enough.

The Twelfth Doctor:

Short, bossy, a control freak, and a slight obsession with tartan. Also, her English teacher companion is secretly a rock star wannabe, disguised as a reclusive Scottish nerd.

What’s a girl to do?

(Apparently, find out that her best enemy is alive, and now also female. And Scottish like her companion. The first kiss had been… shocking to say the least. The ones after, against her better judgement, decidedly less so.)

She cares about her companion more than she will ever say, and when faced with losing him, takes things too far. Further than anyone should ever take anything. And when it is all said and done… she can’t remember his face, or his voice, or how he sounded when he mocked how large her eyes were.

River is there to comfort her, though, in those 24 years on Darillium.

And then Bill. Brilliant Bill. Oh yes, they make quite the team. And Nardole helps sometimes too.

Send me an AU and I’ll expand on it!

Sure, let’s see one by one and the differences:

Used for:

  • finished actions (focus on the action)
  • period of time, exact time
  • consecutive actions in the past
  • interrupting actions

Examples:

  • Anoche dormí muy bien. (Last night I slept really good).
    **This action is completely finished.
  • Terminé mi tarea a las 7:00. (I finished my homework at 7:00)
    **Completely finished + exact time.
  • Viví en la ciudad por 10 años. (I lived in the city for 10 years)
**Finished action + period of time.
  • Mi amiga estudió en España. (My friend studied in Spain)
    **She finished studying.
  • Él trabajó en esa empresa desde 1990 hasta el 2015. (He worked in that company from 1990 until 2015.
**Finished action + exact period of time

    **Consecutive actions in the past.
  • La semana pasada fui a la playa con mi familia, nadamos, comimos mariscos y nos divertimos mucho. (Last week I went to the beach with my family, we swam, we ate seafood and we had fun).
**Consecutive actions in the past. (For “nosotros”, the present and the past conjugations are the same).
  • Ayer me desperté a las 8:00, pero me levanté hasta las 9:00. (Yesterday I woke up at 8:00, but I got up until 9:00).
**Consecutive actions in the past + exact time.

interrupting actions with pretérito imperfecto. ⇊

Used for:

  • past habits, skills
  • finished actions (focus on time)
  • describing people, animals or places in the past
  • time with past habits
  • unfinished actions

Examples:

  • Cuando era niña me gustaba pintar. (When I was a kid I liked to paint).
**Describing the person + past habit.
  • Antes podía correr muy rápido, pero ahora ya no. (I used to run very fast, but not anymore).
    **Past skill.
  • Mi abuela era una mujer muy guapa. (My grandmother was a very beautiful woman).
    **Describing a person.
  • El parque estaba muy limpio, hacía buen tiempo y habían muchos animales pequeños que comían frutas de los árboles. (The park was very clean, the weather was good and there were many small animals that were eating fruits from the trees).
    **Describing a place, weather, animals.

We can also use [imperfecto] + [period of time] if we are talking about past habits.

  • Iba a la escuela de lunes a viernes. (I used to go to school from Monday to Friday)
**Past habit + period of time
  • Antes practicaba 3 horas al día. (I used to practice 3 hours a day)
    **Past habit + exact time
  • Visitaba a mis abuelos todos los veranos. (I used to visit my grandparents every Summer).
    **Past habit + time/season

NO:

  • Vivía en la ciudad por 10 años. (X)
  • Él trabajaba en esa empresa desde 1990 hasta el 2015. (X)

Unfinished actions: [pretérito imperfecto] + [pretérito indefinido]

We use the pretérito imperfecto to talk about the unfinished action.
We use the pretérito indefinido to talk about the action that interrupted the first one.

  • Estaba caminando por la calle cuando comenzó a llover. (I was walking down the street when it started to rain)
    estaba: imperfecto
    comenzó: indefinido

  • Estaba viendo una película pero me quedé dormido. (I was watching a movie but I fell asleep)
    estaba: imperfecto
me quedé: indefinido **quedarse dormido: to fall asleep

  • Antes trabajaba en esa tienda pero encontré un trabajo mejor. (I used to work in that store but I found a better job).
    trabajaba: imperfecto
    encontré: indefinido

  • Antes sabía muchas palabras en español pero ya olvidé muchas. (I used to know many words in Spanish but I forgot many of them).
    sabía: imperfecto
    olvidé: indefinido

[pretérito indefinido] + [pretérito imperfecto]

Past action + describing in the past

  • Fui a tu casa pero no estabas. (I went to your house but you were not there)
  • Fui al banco pero estaba cerrado. (I went to the bank but it was closed).
  • Compré esta bolsa cuando estaba en oferta. (I bought this bag when it was on sale).
  • Llegué temprano pero no había nadie. (I arrived early but there was nobody there).

pretérito indefinido =  (focus on the action)
pretérito imperfecto = (focus on time)

  • ¿Qué hiciste? - What did you do? (focus on the action)
  • ¿Qué hacías? - What did you do? (focus on time)

Another way to translate these questions:

  • ¿Qué hiciste? - What have you done?
  • ¿Qué hacías? - What were you doing?
*The first question focus on what you did, and the second one focus on how you spent your time.

  • Vi una película. - I watched a movie. (focus on the action)
  • Veía una película. - I watched a movie (focus on time)
*The second sentence can be translate as “I was watching a movie”

estuve vs. estaba (estar)

Estuve and estaba can be interchangeable many times, for example:

Él estuvo trabajando. - He was working (focus on the action)
Él estaba trabajando. -  He was working (focus on time)
These two sentences have almost the same meaning. “Estuve trabajando” emphasizes
what he was doing, and “estaba trabajando” emphasizes how he was spending his time.

Estuve muy ocupada. - I was very busy. (focus on the adjective “ocupada”)
Estaba muy ocupada. - I was very busy (focus on time)
These two sentences are also very similar. But “estuve muy ocupada” emphasizes the fact of being busy and “estaba muy ocupada” emphasizes the time when she was busy.

Most of the times people don’t see these subtle differences, so both sentences can be synonyms.

Just as one of our previous rules, we don’t use the imperfecto with exact time.

fue vs. era (ser)

This follows the same logic:

fue, pretérito indefinido =  (focus on the person)
era, pretérito imperfecto = (focus on time)

Whenever we read a biography of someone, we always see “fue” because the important thing is their profession. For example:

  • Octavio Paz fue un escritor. - Octavio Paz was a writer.
  • Marie Curie fue una científica. - Marie Curie was a scientist.
  • Galileo Galilei fue un astrónomo. - Galileo Galilei was an astronomer.

If we use “era” the sentence is correct, but it feels like it is minimizing the importance of their job.

But we can use “era” when the important thing is how people spent their time. For example:

  • Cuando Octavio Paz era niño vivía en los Estados Unidos. - When Octavio Paz was a child he lived in the United States.
  • Marie Curie trabajaba con su esposo. - Marie Curie worked with her husband.
  • Galileo Galilei tenía muchos enemigos. - Galileo Galilei had many enemies.

Used for:

  • Recent past (finished actions) connected to the present.
  • Experiences.

Examples:

  • He comprado un carro nuevo. - I’ve bought a new car. (I bought a car recently and is still there).
  • He estudiado todas mis notas. - I’ve studied all my notes. (I studied all my notes that I have until now).
  • Él ha tenido tiempo suficiente para pensar. - He has had enough time to think. (until now)
  • Mi amiga me ha dado un regalo. - My friend has given me a present. (and I still have it here).
  • Hemos tenido un buen fin de semana. - We have had a nice weekend. (until now, until the last second).
  • He viajado a Perú muchas veces. - I’ve traveled to Perú many times.
  • He estado en Bolivia sólo una vez. - I’ve been to Bolivia just once.
  • Ella ha nadado con delfines. - She has swum with dolphins.
  • Él nunca ha bebido alcohol en su vida. - He has never drunk alcohol in his life.
  • ¿Has visto esta película? - Have you seen this movie?
  • ¿Has tocado a un elefante? - Have you touched an elephant?
  • ¿Alguna vez has pensado en casarte? - Have you ever thought about getting married?

[pretérito perfecto] + [time]

  • He estado trabajando todo el día. - I’ve been working all day.
  • He estado estudiando 2 horas al día. - I’ve been studying 2 hours a day.
  • He estado leyendo libros en español desde hace tres meses. - I’ve been reading books in Spanish since 3 months ago.

I think that’s all. I tried to cover everything I could, but if you still have questions feel free to ask me again. :)
I hope this was useful!

Happy Spring, my dears! To celebrate my favourite season, I present to you a tarot challenge for the month of April. You are 100% welcome to alter or skip days as makes you comfortable, as these are just my own silly suggestions. Also, please feel free to @ me or tag with April Fool Tarot Challenge to share your adventures through the month! Write as artistically or as informally as you like! (PS I realise this is a little early/long-winded, I honestly just got excited). Anyway, with your consent, I wish you all the growth and warmth of the season! :)

1. The April Fool Spread: Shuffle, and find the Fool. The cards on either side are “what to be optimistic about this month” and “what to be wary of, in case it’s a trick”

2. Tarot Garden: Go through your decks and see if you can find at least three different flower species depicted. Take a super aesthetic photo of this tarot garden!

3. The Sun Cross Spread: Shuffle and find the Sun. The cards on either side are things that will warm up your spring

4. Green Thumb: Find three cards (or more!) with green as the dominant colour. Do the cards’ meanings relate somehow? If differentiating colours is difficult, select one or more cards that mean “growth” to you.

5. The April Showers Spread: Pull a card to represent April showers (an upcoming challenge), and another to show May flowers (a potential positive outcome of this challenge)

6. The Spring Cleaning Spread: Pull (randomly or by design) a card to represent something that needs to leave your life

7. The “That Gross Dirty Melting Snow” Spread (I asked my boyfriend what spring reminds him of, which was a mistake): Tell your deck the beginning of a classic joke, and then pull the punchline. Guaranteed to be an experience.

8. The Diamond Spread: For the April birthstone, pull four cards to represent Luxury, Clarity, Strength, and Rarity for the situation of your choosing

9. The Blossom Spread: Pull a Blossom (something to strive for), a Stem (what to do to help you get there), and Roots (what you already have that will guide your journey).

10. Wild Cards: Take a photo of your cards out in nature (or if you can’t leave your house, with a sweet houseplant!)

11. Haiku: Pull three random cards to write a haiku

12. Sweet Pea: For the birth flower of April, talk about a card that always makes you feel good when you pull it

13. Rubber Boots: Pull a card randomly. Its numerical value is your puddle-jumping-armour stat. How wet are your feet?

14. Hanami: Pull a card (randomly or by design) to represent something that doesn’t last long, so needs to be appreciated while it’s here

15. Tea Time: Have some tea with your cards! You’re halfway through and deserve a break.

16. The Two Easters Spread: My family celebrates both new and old calendar holidays, meaning that we usually have two Easters a year. This year, both fall on the same day (today)! To celebrate, pull two cards: The Resurrection (a lesson you could learn from your childhood self), and Renewed Hope (a message you need to hear from your deck). Feel free to alter this one as is comfortable for your spirituality.

17. The Spring Fling Spread: Shuffle, then spread your cards face up. Are the Lovers closer to the Emperor or the Empress? Use this as advice in your interpersonal relationships

18. Fairy Tales: Pull a card or two to tell us what your life as a garden fairy would be like

19. The Aries Spread: For the last day of this sign, pull a card each for the four stars of the Aries constellation. These will represent Passion (something to pour your heart into), Impulse (something to follow your gut on), Optimism (something to lift your spirits), and Aggression (something frustrating to work on).

20. The Taurus Spread: Taurus has way too many stars for this (lol), so instead, pull a card each for its two horns. One to represent something wonderfully stable, and one to represent something just a little stubborn.

21. The Chinook Spread: Pull a card to represent a very rapid change

22. The Earth Day Spread: Pull a card (or two or three) as a reminder of everything the planet has done for you!

23. The Rainy Day Spread: Pull three cards suggesting your next rainy day activities

24. Tanka: Pull five cards to write a tanka (like a haiku, but the syllables are 5-7-5-7-7)

25. Spring Break: Build a house of cards as best you can. Share pictures, even if it’s kind of a mess (I know mine will be)

26. The Weather: Describe today’s weather using tarot cards! Maybe even try to predict tomorrow’s weather, if you’re feeling it

27. The Migration Spread: Place five cards in a V, like geese flying north for the summer. What are you flying towards?

28. The Arbour Day Spread: A pine tree needs all four classical elements to survive: earth to hold onto, air to breathe, water to drink, and fire to release its seeds. Choose one card of each suit to describe yourself.

29. Rainbow: Find cards in each colour of the rainbow, for the sheer aesthetic of it. If differentiating colours is difficult (or your deck is fairly monochrome), find a handful of your happiest cards and lay them out in an arch.

30. Sunday Brunch: You’re off for a lovely Sunday brunch. Which court card(s) do you invite?

Absolutely Smitten (I’ll Never Let You Go)

Summary: In which Dan is a much-adored primary school music teacher, and Phil is just the science teacher who can’t keep his mind off of him. But when the students notice and try to get in on the action, will Phil finally work up the courage to ask Dan out? Based on this prompt from Phanfic.

“your life ain’t gon’ be nothing like my life. your gonna grow and have a good life. i’m gonna do what i’ve got to do.”

This is what you had to do.

You were with a guy for 3 years and about a year ago, ended up getting pregnant unexpectedly. As soon as you found out you were pregnant and he didn’t know, you were terrified he would leave. So you kept it from him for a good two months until he noticed you getting bigger. Spoiler. That’s exactly what he did as soon as he asked. You had no other choice than to tell him the truth unless you wanted to get accused of cheating.

Asshole.

Now you were a single mom, working as a stripper in a local strip club. He didn’t pay child support. He abandoned you and your child.

While stripping made you good money, you had to occasionally sell yourself. As much as you hated it, you had to do it when monthly rent came around. Jae-Eun was only a couple months old, so that meant paying for a babysitter when you were at work and also for overnight. The food was getting more expensive and the weather was getting colder, forcing you to pay for a heater. Everything together was eating your wallet clean and you had to do what you did if you wanted your kid, let alone you to survive.

As much as you hated to admit it, you still loved him. You were with the man for years. You never expected him to leave. He even told you he wanted to start a family with you, so why did he just disappear? Why did he leave you when you needed him the most? When you, were the weakest you’ve ever been?

You’ll never get over how sad and heartbreaking it was to go through such an immense amount of pain, alone. A nurse was all you had that day. Your mom lived across the country and couldn’t afford to fly out to be with you. Your dad died months before Jae-Eun was born, so you went through this whole thing alone. Your mom occasionally sent money, thinking it would help. The funny part about that was that it was only $50 each time. That was an eighth of your monthly rent, so that didn’t do much. Of course, anything helps but she didn’t understand what else you had to pay for including,  groceries, clothes, water, heat, etc.

A normal day for you was about 4 pm to 12 am. You got home normally every night at 1 am, it just depended on how much money you needed that month and frankly, you needed much more than you made in a one night shift to even get you by each month with endless bills. You hated it but this is what you had to do, for quick, easy money. You had no choice.

__

“Bye Jae-Eun. I love you.” You whispered as you tucked him into his bed. As you made your way downstairs, Seoyeon, your babysitter, walked into the house.

Even though Seoyeon was your babysitter, she knew everything about you. You had told her the first day she started working for you, why you had to do what you were doing. She understood as she just nodded and kept her questions to herself while you explained to her. Seoyeon was your friend and that really meant a lot to you. Normally when you got together with someone new or meet someone new, you never hear from them again as soon as they ask what you do for a living or you tell them that you strip. Other than Seoyeon, you didn’t have anyone. You needed someone so badly right now, you are just terrified they will leave or walk out on you, just like he did.

It was a cold evening; 30 degrees to be exact. Your only way of transportation was by foot. That made you really hate this type of weather, especially since it was always colder at night but you had to do what you had to do. You repeat that to yourself at least 100 times a day, to keep you motivated when you felt like giving up.  After 10 minutes of walking, you finally reached your work and headed to the back to change.

“Hey, guys.” You say as you walk by two other girls.

They ignored you and continued talking. No matter how hard you tried making friends, none of the girls wanted anything to do with you. You never understood why people despised you so much.

“Y/N, I need you out there in 10 minutes.” Your boss yelled. You rushed to change, not even needing to put on that much, considering you were a stripper. You threw on a pair of high heels and walked out in your work and more “special” bra and underwear.

Your charisma totally changed when you got up on stage. You went from shy and insecure to sexy and confident in a split second. How you walked, the way you swayed your hips; leaving guys in awe. The fierce gaze you exchanged with guys aching to touch you and have you all over them. The only thing was that they were not allowed to touch you. Not even during private sessions.

As you approached the main room, you locked eye contact with a man, sitting alone with nobody putting on a show for him. That was your cue. You held eye contact, as you slowly but sensually walked over to him. Most guys who came here were older and creepy but this man was the complete opposite. He looked to be around the same age as you.

How did he not have a girlfriend? Why of all people would he be here? He could get a girl without even trying.

You shook yourself out of your thoughts and stood in front of him. Wow. He was handsome. The way his hair fell over his forehead, his dark eyes, his plump, pink lips and a smirk that was plastered over his face. The vibe you got from him made you that much more confident.

He eyed you, up and down, patting his lap for you to sit down on him. Eager. You laughed while shaking your head.

“Eager much?” You finally break the silence and stay in your place, not daring to give him what he wants, yet. “This isn’t a private dance, you have to request those, sir.”

He laughs, not cutely either, almost like he was mocking you. He bit his bottom lip, admiring the sight of you, taking all of you in, as he released a breath he didn’t realize he was holding in.

The club has been open for a couple of hours already. Guys pour in and out every minute. Every time a song ended a new one started and the lights dimmed. You looked over to the side. 1 minute left.

You carefully walk up the steps to get onto the table. It was just you and your pole, with him watching you. The lights slowly dimmed down and you took your place, turning your back to him as you bend down, sitting on your ankles, waiting for the music to start.

She want it, I can tell she want it, want me to push up on it, foreshe know when I’m all on it. We get the party going, liquor flowing, this is fire. 50  and Jeremiah number one there’s nothing higher, (won’t you go and)

As soon as he said “and,” the bass dropped and your head snapped back to face him, not daring to miss the beat. Your body rolling with the music, as you turn your head to the other side, before getting up, giving him a perfect view of your ass. You continue rolling your body. You turn around a face him, his eyes set on nothing but you.

Won’t you, just put it down (x2) get it, get it, work it, work it, break it, break it down.

The word down, makes your drop down once again, making the man cock an eyebrow at you. You grab the pole on your side and walk around it a couple of times, tilting your head back while using your other hand to feel up and down the pole.

I like the way you grind with that booty on me, shawty you a dime why you looking lonely? We’ll buy another round and it’s all on me, as long as I’m around put it down on me, just put it down on me, down, down on me, put it down on me. Don’t throw it off the ground, show me how it’s gonn’ be, girl all I really want is you down on me, put it down on me.

Every time the beat hit, you moved your hip to one side, then the other, never taking your eyes off of the man you were performing for. The then song carried on into a different sounding beat that only made you move your hips and body, even more, succeeding in turning the guy on.

Look how she twerk it, they say she work it, make me wanna hit it, hit it, heaven when I’m in it, in it. If I do not fit, I’m gonna make it, girl you can take it, don’t stop, get it, get it.

You dropped up and down each time you heard a beat, sending him off into a paradise through his eyes. You could tell his imagination was running wild.

I like the way you grind with that booty on me, shorty you a dime why you looking lonely? We’ll buy another round and it’s all on me, as long as I’m around put it down on me, just put it down on me, down, down on me, put it down on me. Don’t throw it off the ground, show me how it’s gonn’ be, girl all I really want is you down on me, put it down on me.

The song changed beats again, forcing you to change your action once again. Instead of continuing to dance, you place your hand on both sides of your neck, slowly making their way down your body, then back up and down until the song reached its bridge.

Down with that booty on me, shorty you a dime why you looking lonely? Oh, baby, we can go, go, low, low yeah…

While the song carried on, you continued doing what you did best. Circling the pole while slowly grinding on it, making sure you still kept eye contact with him.

Then the song finally came to an end and you walk off of the stage and make your way over to the man, whose name you did not know yet.

“That was, amazing.” He said immediately as you flipped your hair to the side.

“I don’t take compliments, I take money. That’ll be $30.” You wink and put your hands out in front of him, waiting to take the money.

“How much does a private dance cost?” He asked, still not giving you your hard-earned money.

“Depends on what you want.” You replied, keeping your voice sensual and low.

“What does one song cost?”

You look at him. His question caught you off guard. One song?! Most guys wanted more than that, much, much, more.

“I already said, that depends. Now can I please have my money?” You were trying to still sound as sexy as possible but he was starting to make you upset.

“When is the soonest I can get a private dance?” He ignored your question. A smirk was creeping up on his face. You switched your weight onto the other foot and placed your hand on your hip.

“You have to schedule that with the dancer you want.”

“And what if I said, I want you to give me a private dance?”

“We can arrange that after you give me my money.”

He pulls out his wallet and stands up. He had some height to you, even with being in heels. He walked over to you and leaned down to your ear, his hair tickling your cheek. His breath made you hitch, causing you to get goosebumps.

“I’ll be here tomorrow at 10.” He suddenly says in a whisper, handing you a $50 bill. “The extra $20 is a tip.”

“What’s your name?” You ask.

“Jimin.”

I meant to post this on april fool’s day because my writing is a joke :) But I’m late, so here’s a joke posted on the wrong day.

Summary: Keith, who just happens to be coming down with a cold, is forced to wait out a thunderstorm with Lance.

“You’re still coming to pick me up, right?”

Lance’s voice is questioning, insecure, as if he doesn’t already know the answer. Keith sighs into the phone, before sniffling once, absently rubbing his nose on the back of his hand. “I thought we already went over this.”

“I know, but I called you and you weren’t picking up–”

“I was in class,” Keith retorts, pressing the phone to his ear with one hand as he slings his backpack over his shoulders with the other. He twists away briefly to cough into his shoulder. “The lecturer ended a little later than usual, that’s all.”

He can hear Lance’s hum of assent on the other end. “So, you are coming, then?”

“Yeah. Yeah, I am.” Keith pauses outside of the university building, scanning the parking lot for his motorbike, before he spots it parked in the far left corner. “Have you been waiting for a long time?”

“The meeting ended ten minutes ago,” Lance responds, “so, not really.”

“That’s good,” Keith unfastens his helmet from where it’s been clipped around the handlebars, then fits it over his head, brushing loose strands of hair from his eyes. “….I’m heading off. I‘m going to have to hang up now, okay?”

“Okay,” Lance pauses. “I’ll see you in twenty minutes?”

“Fifteen.” Keith fishes a keychain out of his pocket, pausing to find the right key before inserting it into the ignition. “See you there.”

The engine starts up, a low rumble of sound and motion, and Keith presses the end call button before sliding the phone back into his pocket. He sniffles, before straightening slightly, navigating the bike carefully out of the parking lot.

Emma

Emma Swan had a PhD. Emma Swan had 1265 followers on Instagram. Emma Swan had every line of The Princess Bride memorized.

But one thing Emma Swan did not have?

Electricity.

She flicked the switch again, in the vain hope she’d just imagined it the first time. Nothing happened. She tried the outlet by the toaster. Nothing. Nada.

Because of fucking course Emma would wake up on the first day of the year to find her new apartment shrouded in unending darkness. Because what landlord in their right mind actually picked up the phone at 7am on January 1st? Hell, judging by what she’d seen out her window over the last few hours, they were probably just getting started on all their Hogmanay festivities. Everyone else seemed to be.

Only, Emma wasn’t going to accept defeat right away. Sure, cold Pop-Tarts were okay in a pinch, but it was still freezing out and she had a mighty need to crank up her space heater and put on a pot of coffee. She was very motivated.

It went to voicemail three times before someone finally picked up, the voice on the other end of the line irate and decidedly not sober.

Soulmate! AU where you are born unable to see colors except for black and white until you see your soulmate for the first time.

Summary: Shielded by a veil of black and white, meeting Taehyung brings color to your world.

As a child, when your mother would tell you the story about how her world had brightened up when she first saw your father always left you entranced. You always felt butterflies in your stomach because you hoped that one day you too would be able to experience that same feeling of finally seeing all the colors in the world because of a certain special someone. Your mother had called it her Brightening, a moment when the black and white veil that hung suspended over every human being’s eyes until they met their soulmate fell from its place and suddenly the world would be a spectrum of colors you could only imagine.

Your mother described the experience in so much detail you could practically see the colors yourself, she had said the colors radiated off your father in hues and tones she had never imagined were possible to see. You were so amazed to hear that there were people out there who could actually see colors, that once they met their other half they’d have the privilege of seeing the world for the true beauty it really was.

You spent years fantasizing about how your Brightening would happen, what colors you might see, where would it be, at what time of day would it happen, and most importantly what kind of significant other you would have. Would colors emanate off him and dissolve the black and white veil in front of your eyes just like your mother had described? You yearned for the moment when this would happen. So much so that every day you prepared yourself and yet every day you were disappointed.

And as time went on and you met no one that caused the veil to lift, your heart grew heavy and as you grew older and went off to college the belief you once had that one day you would meet your soulmate and be Brightened began to fade and you were left with the decision to be logical and forget your childish fantasies or live on in hopes that your dreams would one day come true.

That is…until one faithful snowy day.

RIGHT IN THE HEART, like seriously. why must this show torment me so, i can’t handle it. this is one of my favorite callbacks now, because it highlights one of the most terrible things that had happened to raven in mount weather.

like, when i generally think of season 2 i always remind myself that there is no anesthesia for any of the operations/tortures raven has to endure. no anesthesia. nothing to soothe the stings, nothing to stop the backbreaking push of the drills. waking up only to realize that the pain has gotten even worse. screaming at the top of the lungs for the whole world to hear. in 2x16 we get to one of the most horrific moments. tied to a wall to get shock lashed, trying hard to fight against the guards only to be pushed down, seeing your friends faces and refusing to give up, biting down on one of the “doctors” necks and tearing off the flesh, getting shock lashed again and blacking out for a moment only to end up seeing eye to eye with the person who will take your bone marrow.

for the entire duration of s2 raven is emotionally and physically challenged in a way that breaches all possible walls in my opinion. she goes through hell, in every sense of the word. and yet, she is one of the people who survives.

she survives despite her body being defenseless, despite standing tall on shaking legs or with her broken heart on full view. if you would watch the scenes of raven’s surgery, losing finn, the blow at the dam and then the bone marrow extraction all at once it’d feel like a war documentation. with her screams on loop and her body and soul reduced to nothing but pain and more pain.

that’s why she’s all too familiar with the entire procedure that takes place in becca’s lab now. just like luna raven put up a fight only to end up getting strapped down and physically violated. she may not be able to relate to luna’s blood (nightblood), but she can relate to luna’s pain. all of it.

when roan attacks luna we see raven push forward.

the same thing that once happened to her is happening to luna now and suddenly her heart stops, because how? how is this happening?

what fascinates me is that while raven doesn’t actively stop any of them, she is the one to push the buttons emotionally by reminding each one of these people, especially those who were at mount weather, what they are doing and who did it before them, because “welcome to mount weather” is anything but a warm welcome, it’s something dante had said once, too (2x01).

so, in a way, through that horrible first-hand experience raven is able to slow the process down and get characters like clarke or abby to really think about their actions. and i think that was brilliant because it brought in a realism into the episode/show that i hadn’t witnessed on this level before.

Maya Vie: Natural Born Revolutionary

I’m getting back into my character centric metas with an essay on a girl who I feel is the most unsung hero of the whole show. Because even in a fandom that is supposedly so appreciative of the 100′s strong female characters, I find that Maya is routinely treated with indifference, disregard or even dislike. And I want to know why. Do fans dismiss Maya’s strength on a superficial basis because of her looks? Because she’s a mousy girl who wore pastel dresses and cardigans rather than black leather and war paints? Is she not perceived as a strong girl because we didn’t see Maya throwing her fists or wielding a weapon in physical fights? Maya was still a fighter. And unlike most characters what Maya fought for was not her own survival. Maya fought for what was right. Her selfless heroism seems sadly ignored and forgotten. Maybe this is due to the squeamish reality that Maya was killed by three of our main protagonists? In the rush to absolve Clarke, Bellamy and Monty for pulling that lever, Maya’s death is hand-waved and her significance is downplayed. But Maya deserves to be recognized for who she was and what she did. The squeamish reality is that none of the Sky People would’ve survived the Mountain without her.

Nobody can help the reality they are born into and for Maya, her reality was a sickly underground society dependent on blood treatments for their survival. I’m not sure what age it was the Mountain children learned the truth about the blood transfusions. Maya’s mother died when she was five after refusing the blood so she likely lost her innocence earlier than most. Maya was very much a product of both of her parents - the daughter of a mother who’d sacrificed her life for her ideals and a dad who sacrificed his ideals for his family. If Maya always secretly had her mother’s righteous heart, then she masked it with her father’s careful compliance. As she grew up, Maya suppressed her rebel spirit behind a bland appearance and mousy manners. She lost herself in books, in art and in music. She might’ve dressed in pastel colors but privately Maya had a passion for dark Gothic paintings and angry Emo songs. These distractions were all she had to block out a reality her morals couldn’t reconcile.

Did Maya ever really conform though? We know that Maya had at least two jobs in the Mountain. She was a medic and a cleaner. The first job gave her access to the secretive medical facilities while her cleaner duties gave her an overview of the entire bunker. I don’t believe Maya came up with plans to overthrow her leaders and free their prisoners in just the three weeks after the Sky kids were brought to the Mountain. I think she’d been daydreaming this rebellion for years before the Sky kids came. But still - Maya was just a teenage girl and she didn’t want to die. She didn’t want to accept her own death and the death of all of her people as her only option for doing what was right. When the Sky kids arrived Maya still yearned to be a normal girl. A girl who could meet a cute boy and go to breakfast with him. Her leaders had welcomed the Sky kids into their home as guests. The 48 weren’t put in the same category as the “savages”. In the same way that we’re taught to think of pets differently to how we think of livestock, the Mount Weather civilians were all encouraged to think of the 48 as a different species of outsider, deserving of humane treatment.

If Maya briefly deluded herself, if she let herself hope for a little romance with a boy from space, then she swallowed that hope the moment she woke up to find Dr Tsing had taken Jasper’s blood to heal her body. First, there’s her shattering realization that her own people risked her life and used her as a lab rat in their medical experiments. Then it’s fearing that Jasper and his friends are about to become their new cure. Maya had always believed in her mother’s revolution, but it’s the threat to the 48 that forces her into action. These are kids her age, kids she knows. The grounders were dehumanized savages unseen behind the walls, easier to disassociate, to block out that reality. “What are we supposed to do?” Maya asks after confessing the now inescapable facts to Jasper and Monty. “Die” is the answer Monty harshly offers. And in her heart, Maya agrees with him, like she agreed with her mother. She couldn’t help being born a vampire, a creature who survives on blood, who lives in a tomb because she’d burn up in the sun. Maya’s favorite painting depicts a whirlwind of doomed lovers falling into Hell. Maya might’ve thought she’d found love with Jasper, but her reality is she’s a sickly monster who can only survive by draining him. She’s falling in love as she falls into Hell. The Hell she’s lived in all her life.

Maya’s mission doesn’t start as a full-blown revolution. In the early stages I think she was just hoping to aid an escape or a rescue attempt. The full reality of what Maya is doing doesn’t hit home till she saves Bellamy from the harvest chamber. Until she’s faced with watching Bellamy killing Lovejoy with his bare hands. She has a gun in her hands yet she doesn’t stop Bellamy. A few weeks earlier Maya had threatened to shoot Clarke when she’d been poised to open the bunker door and let the radiation in. Bellamy sees Maya looking shocked and sickened that she let him kill a man she must’ve known all her life. He sees the conflict she’s in and gives her a chance to back out. But Maya has already made her choice and she knows that Bellamy’s mission will fail without her. She still tries desperately to protect her own people at the same time. She uses her medic role to get her art teacher out of the elevator so Bellamy doesn’t have to shoot him. Later on Maya pleads with Octavia not to kill a young couple kissing outside the mess hall. Maya is fighting to protect “the innocent” on both sides. Who was the first character to transcend tribalism? I’d say it was Maya.

For a long time, Maya is helping Bellamy and the 48 single-handed and her help is essential. Without Maya, Bellamy would’ve died and the mission would have failed. Without Maya, the Sky kid prisoners would have never established radio communication with the other Arkadians. Without Maya, Raven wouldn’t have known to blow the dam. Most importantly, the Sky kids in the Mountain wouldn’t have survived long enough if Maya hadn’t raised a resistance movement to hide them from Cage’s guards. By this point Maya knows that Clarke is bringing an army of grounders to lay siege to her home. She knows that if the mission is a success then her vampiric people will be losing their blood supply. The rest of the resistance knows it too. To their credit, they don’t even raise the question of how they’ll get to survive afterwards. Best case scenario, Cage and his guards are wiped out and the Sky people offer to donate marrow. But the rebels never ask or bargain for their own lives. Maya and the others are prepared to die for what is right. And as Maya is forced to witness the rebels she roused being shot in the head (her own father included) she seems more resigned to her own fate. She knows she’s a dead girl walking. Octavia suggests that Maya could live in the Ark airlock, but Maya knows from experience that life in a cell isn’t really living. She’d rather find something worth dying for.

Jasper still has his desperate belief that he can save Maya (and everyone else) by killing Cage. As she sends him off for his assassination attempt, Maya tells him “You got this”, the same words Clarke says to Octavia before the conclave, probably for the same reasons. She knows Jasper has little chance of surviving against Cage and his men, but she also knows he’ll have a better chance if he believes he can succeed. She doesn’t answer Jasper’s “I love you”, not because she doesn’t reciprocate his feelings, but because she’s chosen her revolution over her chance for love and even her own chance for life. Earlier in the battle for Mount Weather, Jasper says “I won’t let you die” and Maya doesn’t answer “I won’t let you die either” but instead says “I won’t let you surrender”. For Maya, the cause has become more important than all their individual lives. So if Jasper is going to die, it’s better he dies on his feet fighting for that cause, rather than him dying strapped down to a table under the drill.

And tragically in the end, Maya wasn’t killed by her own corrupt government that she was fighting to overthrow. She was killed by their intended victims who she had tirelessly risked her life (and her entire civilization) to rescue. I’ve often seen Maya’s last words being interpreted as her excusing Clarke, Bellamy and Monty for pulling the lever on her. But I don’t agree. I think when Maya says “None of us is innocent”, she doesn’t just mean the Mountain people. She also means the grounders who betrayed Sky people to their deaths. She means the Sky people who betrayed Maya and her people to their deaths. None of them are innocent. Maya had carried the guilt of taking blood from ‘innocent’ victims all her life. Yet those victims she tried to save ultimately bought their survival with Maya’s blood. With the blood of over three hundred of her people. Clarke and Monty would say afterwards that they had no choice, like Dante claimed that none of them had a choice. And yet Maya still made a choice to do what was right, even if she and her people could not survive doing the right thing.

the signs as i know them (part II)
  • aries: they love so much. sometimes they find themselves in inner conflicts. they can rage like a storm and then be calm like the sea on a day in april. but in april the weather changes so fast and so do they. leave them alone when they're angry. when they show you they want to talk about it, be there for them. they need a lot of space for themselves but that doesn't mean you get the same space for yourself. they can be jealous if you flirt with someone else. they're a little possesive. if they love you, they would conquer the world and make it yours. they decide. if they want you, they want you right now. some aries are not as flirty as others. but they will let you know what they feel for you, open your eyes.
  • taurus: faithful until the very end. they like to spoil you but they know they can't buy your love and they're not even trying. if they buy you a dress/shirt/whatever it's because they think you look amazing in it and they will enjoy watching you take it off. they love the dolce vita. good food, good drinks, beautiful (wo)men. when you're sad or something they will hold you and listen if you want to talk. if not they will hold you until they're sure you're okay. jealousy is a problem. they get jealous very fast. it takes some time to upset them but when they're upset you better watch out. they would do anything for the people they love. if they love you they won't give up on you.
  • gemini: they love the game. they are fascinated by the beauty of so many people. but they are no players. it's easier to break their heart than to have your heart broken by them. never forget that they're dreamers. they love adventures and they want to experience their dreams with someone they love. it's true that their mood changes like the weather. but it's not bad. give them time for themselves, do not try to keep them close 24/7. they love very intense but they always need their personal freedom. let them know how you feel and they'll do the same.
  • cancer: they are romantics. they dream of romantic evenings, candle light and cuddling. but only with their chosen one. they fall in love with souls, minds. they want someone they'll still love when they're 90. a short romance, one night stands, temporary people are nothing for them. they are strong people with a kind heart. some of them like to write poems about the people/things they love. they are creative and will always find a way to show you their love for you.
  • leo: a leo's fire is burning bright. their love can be compared to their fire. they like the heat, whether it be in bed or simply the way they kiss. and they fight. they fight for your love, they want to conquer you. sometimes they rage and what they need is someone who'll be both; the water and the one who they can talk to, trust. trust is so important for them. nothing will work if they don't trust you. sometimes they may hurt you but when they do they are very sorry and will let you know that. do not doubt them, support them. they will support you, too. they'll love you as much as they can, they are passionate lovers.

anonymous asked:

do you have any good herb replacements for alder? (it's being used because of the properties that make it commonly used in both music and wind-whistling magic, and i have no way to get alder.)

This is a bit of a tough one to answer since I don’t know how you might be applying the herbs when you sub them for alder in your practice–are they being burned? Ingested? Applied topically? Used as a wand? I’ll do my best to give you some general options, but feel free to make a more specific inquiry. Musically inclined uses for herbs are few and far between, so this is mostly regarding the wind-whistling.

Alternate Woods:

Other woods may be more accessible than alder (Alnus spp.). Elder (Sambucus spp.) is a similarly-named wood that shouldn’t be confused with alder, but it shares many of the same properties. The name latin name sambucus comes from a wind instrument traditionally made with elder wood, and it is associated with both music and wind. Elder can be very toxic if handled incorrectly, so you should take care if you use it. Poplar (Populus spp.) has properties regarding speech, language, and wind that you may also find useful.

Herbs:

Popular/generally agreed on herbs for air and wind-calling are anise seed, pansy, saffron, lavender, lemon verbena, heather, mint, and lungwort. Lungwort may be swung around the head or tossed to encourage winds. Not all of these are edible, so please research before you use them internally or externally!

And now, a recipe! This is a modification of a storm-calling/storm-singing brew I have used on occasion. The major changes are some swapped herbs and different intent/natural energy in the water, so it may take a little preparation and waiting for the right weather if you don’t have everything on hand. It is quite flexible with herb proportions, so don’t worry if you only have a little bit of mint or something, just sub in some more of another ingredient.

The Call

A brew for wind and storm and voice

Ingredients:

  • Lavender, a few ounces of culinary grade.
  • Mint (or, if you’re a little strapped for fresh herbs, a mint flavoring)
  • Elderberries. A spoonful for a more tea-like broth, or 1 cup per 3 cups liquid for a rich syrup. This is used symbolically as a connection to the elder tree and its properties, as described above. Do NOT eat the berries raw, as they are only safe once cooked.
  • One to three cups intent-specific water (more below on this)
  • Sugar or honey to taste; 1:1 ration to the water for a thick, sweet syrup to add to other beverages, and less for a standalone tea.
  • OPTIONAL, depending on intent: Bee pollen, ice cubes

The first step will likely be to fetch or prepare your water. In my original recipe, I use storm water; for a wind-specific brew, wait for an especially blustery storm or drizzle before collecting it. Alternately (especially if you want warm, summer winds), collect wind in a bottle and submerge it into a bowl of your water, allowing it to bubble up and aerate the liquid. The slower the better with the latter method (and it can be used for things other than water!); experiment with bottle angles and partial capping to see if you can get it to infuse gradually over a night or two.

Next, combine your herbs and berries with your water and sugar.

FOR COLD WINDS: Add more mint, use white sugar, and place ingredients in fridge or cool place with ice cubes instead of water. Allow the ice to infuse cold into the other components and allow the mix to cold-brew overnight. You will still need to heat this if you use elderberries; if desired, create and freeze an elderberry tea in place of ice cubes, so you will not need to reintroduce heat after the cold-brewing process. Otherwise, heat the mixture thoroughly, and reduce on a simmer. This is perfect for a brisk, refreshing wind in the summer, or powerful winds in the winter. Best drunk or applied cold!

FOR WARM WINDS: Add more lavender, and use honey instead of sugar. If you have time, I recommend steeping the lavender and honey together in a cozy place for a few weeks beforehand. Combine your base ingredients and get it to a brisk simmer to extract all the herbal essence. Reduce. After cooling, add bee pollen and allow to rest in the sun before using. This is best for strong summer winds, and a warm breeze on too-chilly spring and fall days.

FOR POWER: Add more elderberry. Make a syrup instead of a tea, using lots of the berry for a dark, rich brew. I would personally recommend using storm water AND aerating the water for some extra kaboom; if possible, create the potion on a day that’s already windy/stormy, and cool the syrup outside as the wind howls. Sing to it or play music if you’re comfortable–stuff with heavy drums and monotone vocals is my fave for big moody weather feelings.

To use:

if a tea, drink shortly before attempting vocal, whistling, or wind magic. Drink hot if working vocally to loosen your voice. If a syrup, add to water or another beverage, or apply to your lips. You can also take it as a thick tonic. I would recommend clearing your mind and meditating on the potion’s purpose before consuming.

I hope this is useful! Followers, feel free to chip in; wind and music magic are not generally my arena, so if anyone can help this anon, I’m sure they would appreciate it!

mchaleinski prompt: scott and stiles have an ice cream shop and then derek opens one up across the street. rivalry but also crushes!

Derek Hale/Scott McCall/Stiles Stilinski
Rating: G, Word Count: 2004
Human AU, Mutual Pining, Ice Cream Parlors, Established Scott/Stiles, POV Stiles, Polyamory,

Read on AO3

‘Look at him. Just look at him! With his stupid novelty flavours and his stupid artsy signs and his stupid muscles and his stupid smile.’

Scott snorts.

‘What?’ Stiles asks, turning away from the window.

‘That’s the fastest you’ve ever gone from insulting to complimenting,’ Scott says.

‘I am not complimenting our nemesis! I’m assessing his assets so I know where to strike.’

‘Dude, Derek hasn’t been our nemesis since he let us store our ice cream at his when our power went out.’

‘Lies,’ Stiles huffs in protest, but he can’t help the little smile that tugs at his lips at the memory.

It had been at the end of a very hot, and therefore very busy, day in their ice cream shop. Stiles was cleaning in the back, Scott out to get dinner, when the power suddenly went out. Their building’s wiring isn’t exactly stellar, so it happens every now and then. No big deal. Except, they hadn’t gotten any new fuses after the last time. Stiles had panicked a little at the thought of all the lost ice cream. He’d been standing in the front of the shop with his hands in his hair, when Derek knocked on the door, wondering if everything was okay. Stiles hadn’t really met Derek yet, even if Scott kept encouraging him to go across the street and say hello. Derek hadn’t hesitated to offer his own freezer when Stiles told him what happened.

Later that night, when they got back home after dinner with Derek, Stiles had grudgingly admitted that Derek wasn’t as evil as he’d thought.

‘Just admit you miss him,’ Scott says.

‘What are you standing around for?’ Stiles glares in the face of Scott’s knowing smirk. ‘You can analyse my behaviour and lock up at the same time.’

Scott walks backwards to the door, his knowing grin still trained on Stiles.

They clean the front in companionable silence. Which for them means singing along to the radio and using the cleaning supplies as instruments. This is Stiles’ favourite part of the day. It’s just him and Scott, in the shop they started, goofing off, relaxing after a long day of scooping ice cream and dealing with people. Even with the goofing off, they’ve been doing this long enough that they’re perfectly in sync and it never takes long.

Stiles is double checking their inventory, while Scott gathers all the towels, cloths, and aprons that have to be laundered.

‘I do miss him,’ Stiles finally admits. He closes the fridge and sits down heavily in a chair.

everything about shiny hunting in pokemon sun and moon!

(note: this post got pretty long)

i’m sure there are already posts like this, but i’ve noticed that they tend to be pretty minimal in terms of tips outside of the very basics, so i’ve decided to make my own! shiny hunting is different in sun and moon with the recent implementation of SOS pokemon, but overall much easier than it used to be! it can take a lot of patience, as it’s all based on chance, but as long as you keep all this in mind it should be relatively easy (although time consuming). in my experience, you can end up with a shiny in as little as half an hour or as much as several hours, all depending on luck.

basics

  • chaining! shiny pokemon have a little over a 1/4000 chance of appearing under normal circumstances, however since chaining was introduced in gen IV, people have discovered that encountering the same pokemon multiple times in a row exponentially increases the chance of encountering a shiny pokemon over time. EDIT: though no one currently has any details on the chances of encountering a shiny after 1-70 encounters, by the 70th encounter your chances are maximized, with a 1/1024 chance without a shiny charm and a 1/512 with one. this bonus applies until the chain reaches 255, as it is an 8-bit system, after which it will roll over and reset the chain. (in addition to raising the chance of encountering a shiny, pokemon that have been chained for tend to have better IVs, with up to 4 perfect IVs once a chain of 40 has been reached.)
  • adrenaline orbs! when used in battle, these cheap items make wild pokemon more likely to call SOS pokemon, which is the new method of chaining in gen VII. additionally, these can be used to use up a turn if necessary, as they will simply fail if one is already in use without expending any more of your supply.
  • false swipe or hold back! these moves both have the exact same effect: they reduce the HP of the target pokemon, but always leave it with at least 1 HP remaining. a pokemon with lower HP is more likely to call an SOS pokemon and succeed, so it’s a good idea to get the caller down to 1 HP.

status conditions

  • status moves! pokemon become unable to call for help when they are paralyzed or asleep, and in addition become easier to catch, so it is a good idea to have a pokemon that can inflict either condition on hand when shiny hunting. in addition, it’s really important to make sure that you don’t use any moves or abilities that could leave the pokemon you want with poison or a burn, as they may faint before you can catch them. always be wary of which moves and abilities have such secondary effects!
  • status condition immunity! if you’re going for a pokemon that has the ability to inflict a status condition (sleep, poison, paralysis, etc) it is a good idea to go hunting using a pokemon that would be immune to such a condition. for reference, fire-types are immune to burn, ice-types are immune to freezing, poison- and steel-types are immune to poison, electric-types and pokemon with the ability limber are immune to paralysis, pokemon with the abilities vital spirit, sweet veil, or insomnia are immune to sleep, pokemon with the ability own tempo are immune to confusion, and pokemon with the ability oblivious are immune to infatuation. EDIT: “powder” moves such as sleep powder, poison powder, or spore can be avoided by grass types, pokemon with the ability overcoat, or pokemon wearing safety goggles. they will not be protected from other means of acquiring status conditions, however.

useful abilities

  • immunity-providing abilities! abilities which provide immunity to basic status conditions are listed above under the ‘status condition immunity’ section.
  • synchronize! if you want a pokemon to have a specific nature, this ability means that wild pokemon encountered when a pokemon with this ability is active have a 50% chance to have the same nature as that of the pokemon with this ability.
  • cute charm! when a pokemon with this ability leads, there is a 66.7% (about 2/3) chance that pokemon encountered will be of the opposite gender of that pokemon regardless of what the normal gender ratio for the species is. this can be used if you want your shiny to be a specific gender, or especially in the case of pokemon which only evolve when of a specific gender, such as salandit.
  • shadow tag and arena trap! prevents wild pokemon from fleeing in case they have moves such as teleport.
  • cloud nine and air lock! eliminates effects of weather (rain, hail, sandstorm, etc), which can be bothersome in long term battles with pokemon that have abilities that summon them
  • damp! prevents pokemon from using self-destructing moves
  • unnerve! has the same effect as an adrenaline orb without having to use one. additionally prevents foes from using berries, though that generally wouldn’t happen anyway
  • corrosion! while not an ability you would want your own pokemon to have, as the signature ability of salandit/salazzle, it can be a huge pain since it allows them to poison even steel- and poison-types.

general tips/info

  • isle aplenny! this isn’t a necessity per se, but in my experience is extremely useful, so i highly recommend you look into using it. pp restoring items such as ethers or elixirs cannot be purchased in shops, however leppa berries can be found under certain berry trees and restore 10pp! isle aplenny allows you to multiply your supply in bulk. if you have it fully upgraded, you can get many berries at once, so after only a day or two you have enough to last you for several chains.
  • shiny charm! if your pokedex has reached 100% completion, you can get a shiny charm by speaking to the game director in the game freak building in heahea city. this doubles the chances of finding a shiny pokemon.
  • get to know the pokemon you are chaining for! make sure you take note of any abilities or moves which could complicate chaining in some way as well as which moves could be super effective, not effective, etc. against it or the pokemon you are using to chain. also, make sure you know of any special circumstances in which a pokemon you’re chaining for may appear, such as certain times of day or certain weather conditions.
  • odor sleuth and foresight! these moves allow ghost-type pokemon to be damaged by normal-type moves, which typically would have no effect. this allows hold back or false swipe to be used on a ghost-type. EDIT: this was actually misinformed, as i’m not certain that any pokemon that learn these moves can use false swipe or hold back, which leads me to the next (new) point.
  • soak! soak is a move that can turn any pokemon it is used on into a pure water-type, thus eliminating immunity to false swipe or hold back. it cannot be learned by anything that can learn either of those moves, however, so it would be necessary to switch to the main pokemon being used for chaining afterwards.
  • set a new caller every so often! inevitably the pokemon calling for help will run out of pp, and if you’ve used false swipe/hold back and gotten it to 1 HP, struggle’s recoil damage would knock it out, thus ending the chain if no ally pokemon is present to take its place. it is a good idea to pay attention to how long a single pokemon has been calling for help and eventually shift to a new caller by knocking the first one out when an ally from the same family is present.
  • SOS pokemon from different families cannot become callers! this is important to keep in mind if the pokemon you are chaining can call pokemon of other species. for example, when i was chaining pichu, they sometimes called happiny and pikachu as well. if i were to make pikachu the new caller, this would be fine, as pichu evolves into pikachu. if i were to knock out the pichu when a happiny were present, however, the chain would break, as pichu and happiny aren’t related.
  • do not use false swipe/hold back on a target that hasn’t been paralyzed or put to sleep! from experience, if you get your shiny down to 1 HP without preventing it from calling new pokemon, it will continue to successfully summon allies, which prevents you from catching it. if this continues on for a long time, you run the risk of letting the pokemon run out of pp and knock itself out using struggle.

that’s all i can think of right now but i hope this helps someone out! reblogs would be appreciated for spread of info to anyone interested in chaining and just because it took me a long time to write all this :V

You meet Clarke when she was trying to escape, you were the one that helps her get out, and also the one that got the punishment. But it didn’t last long, cause the grounders and the sky people saved everyone, including you. You end up being good friends with Clarke, and you even went on the run with her, protecting her every time she got hurt. The first time she got hurt was when a panther tried to kill the both of you, you weren’t too bad, but Clarke was bleeding too much, the panther manage to bite her arm and scratch her back, it as a big and deep wound. You didn’t know how to treat her, so you did the only thing that you had tried to avoid since you got out of Mount Weather. You heal her. The wound wasn’t in her body anymore, it was in yours, Clarke saw this and got in shock, when she was going to help you, your wounds started to heal. You told Clarke about your special power and she was amazed by it, but she didn’t like it when you do it. You had saved her life countless times since then.
