the way they communicate without words

honestly sometimes I just sit around and think about my identities

sometimes I love defining every facet of myself, cataloging the way I relate to gender and sexuality and romance

and sometimes i feel nebulous and rebellious and I just feel so thankful that I can call myself queer without compromising any bit of myself

queer is a positive, revolutionary, unifying word that links us to a long tradition of nonconformance and radical existence

and i love being part of the queer community

anyway it just makes me happy

don’t tag this “q slur”

Important - Please read

Hi everyone! I hope you’re having a good day!

So, as many of us know very well, anything you post on internet could be taken, in other words….STOLEN - for people who wants to get a piece of the cake by the easy way. This is not new for me since I’ve been dealing with stolen content since my Youtube Channel became “popular” in the Undertale community.

I always have to check channels  that are stealing my videos and claiming them as theirs, without credit, cropping my watermark or even placing another watermark over mine…I’ve been claiming the copyrights of my videos around 100 times since the first animation of Underverse I made there. And still counting.

Now, I’m not talking about this as the big deal. The BIG, DISGUSTING and of course UNFAIR thing I’m really talking about, is that I found a video of mine uploaded three days ago (of course stolen) but asking for help with A PATREON WITH THE SAME NAME OF MY PATREON, with the difference that this person added another word to “Jakeinimation” to obtain that account, to have money behind my back with MY WORK and maybe with other artists’ content.

So, I checked the link of that Patreon but It seems it was deleted. Anyway, I’ll make sure to the channel of this person will be deleted for using my videos and pretending to be me.

That’s a pretty upsetting situation because I can’t believe what some people are able to. And I don’t want people that really want to support the original artists could be fooled by them. So, if you see someone is using a patreon or paypal or any other platform for paying artists with a similar name of the original ones, be careful and check what kind of works are they promoting, as well if you notice someone is trying to make money with other’s work without permission or trying to obtain more followers.

i don’t use any other “social media” besides tumblr so maybe this is a realization many people have already had and i’m just understanding this now, but someone just showed me the vast number of emoticons / emojis one can use on facebook and we were talking about how those emojis can be used on their own to communicate so many things…which is really cool but also makes me so fucking angry because like do people realize that that’s basically a form of AAC?

like, it’s not that different than a communication board or whatever with pre-set images one can select to communicate various emotions or thoughts - the difference here being that because emojis aren’t seen as AAC and aren’t only used by disabled people, they are treated really differently and people think emojis are fun and cool and use them as a convenient way to communicate things without having to necessarily attach words to it…whereas PECS boards or other similar AAC things - including apps that work on iPhones or iPads or whatever  - are mostly treated as “special” and often pitiable or whatever and that’s just like??

to be clear, I’m super glad that it has become so much more possible to express oneself using little pictures of pizza and cats and rainclouds, but if you’re gonna use emojis / pictures to tell other people stuff, maybe also consider that doing so is a fucking valid form of communication

If we combine posadism, anarcho primitivism and hoxhaism we end up with the perfect edgy leftist ideology. The general premise is fairly simple and it’s that we build a shitload of bunkers incite nuclear conflict and emerge from the wreckage as hunter gatherers who are cared for by the extraterrestrial leftists that the posadists were looking for who will clear off all of the radiation and give humanity the ability to communicate without words the way zerzan always wanted. Anything else is revisionist

How to Write Children

The other day I started writing something I’ve been thinking about for a long time.  The first chapter starts with the characters at age 7 and, for the sake of accuracy, I pulled out my notebook from the Child Development course I took over the summer.  I know that not everyone has access to a course like that or even notes from one, so I thought I could share some tips I picked up on writing children.

Age: Infancy (birth to ~2)

Infants don’t really do much besides eat and sleep.  The only way they know how to communicate is through crying; however, they do start making noises that sound like talking as they get older, which can be noted as cooing or babbling.  First words are usually short, brief words that are nouns or actions.  Language develops quickly at 50 words by 8-18 months, and 300 by 18-22 months.

Fresh babies can only see about 7-9 inches away from their face and without much peripheral vision.  Basically, things need to be right in front of them.  Infants respond to sound much easier, though, responding more to the mother’s voice, and sounds and rhythms of speech rather than nonsensical noises.  Babies are sensitive to smell, taste, and pain, being able to determine good and pleasant from the bad.

They spend about 2/3 of their time sleeping (16 hours a day).

Around 2-3 months, the infant starts being able to hold up their head, and around 3-4 months they can start grabbing things voluntarily.

Age: Early Childhood (2-6)

At this stage, children are developing their gross motor skills, which is the large muscles.  They are learning to balance, throw, catch, push, pull, etc.  At this point, males and females are generally equal in terms of development and abilities.  Children can begin to develop fine motor skills at this stage, but not unless they have mastered gross motor skills.

Children at this stage usually develop patterns of erratic and unpredictable eating habits.  They can develop strong or strange preferences, and often are influenced by parental food preferences.

These ages need about 10-11 hours of sleep in a 24 hour period which is usually accomplished with 9-10 hours at night and a 1-2 hour nap during the day.

Children at this stage begin “symbolic” or pretend play.  They have one-dimensional thinking, and see themselves as the center of all situations, and this is completely normal development.  These children do not understand the laws of causality.  An example of this is that highways make cars go fast, or when I wake up the sun comes out (rather than people make highways fast or the sun will always come out whether you wake up or not).

Preschoolers learn an average of 9 words per day.  They also apply the concept of overregulation, which is applying grammar to words that are an exception to the rule (a child learn that you put -s on plurals and makes the word “mouses”).

Preschoolers start to identify and respond differently to their friends than other children.  They identify friends not by qualities, but rather the toys and activities they share.

Age: Middle Childhood (7-12)

This is the stage when children usually begin losing teeth.  They start going in for regular vision, hearing, and dental checks.  This is also the stage when hormonal differences begin to occur, not until puberty however.  Children begin to develop “executive functions” of thinking, such as goal setting, information processing, and self-regulation.

During middle childhood, children are increasing their speed, strength, agility, and balance.  They are developing hand-eye coordination, faster reaction time, and flexibility.  Their fine motor skills have increased to tie shoes, fasten buttons, zip zippers, etc.

Children at this stage begin to understand the law of conservation, which is the idea that properties of an object remain the same when superficial characteristics are rearranged or changed.  They can also begin to uses class inclusion, or understand that one category or class can include subcategories (**Note: This is Piaget’s theory and has since been proven that the development in this paragraph happens earlier than he accounted).

Children begin to develop a moral conscious that is usually dependent on the world around them.  Basically, children learn that they must conform to an authority or set of rules, and misbehavior results in automatic retribution.  Children at this age may also begin to lie as a way out of retribution, but do not fully grasp the concept of deception (develops around 9-10), so lies will be short, one-word answers rather than elaborate tales.

By age 6, children will have learned 7000-13000 words.  By ages 7-9, they will understand that words have different meanings and enjoy jokes.

Children will start to develop self esteem around this age, and is usually higher in children with close relationships with their parents, and social acceptance by their peers.  Peers become powerful during middle childhood, and there becomes a lot of pressure to conform due to acceptance or rejection.

Age: Adolescence (13-17)

Puberty may have already happened before this age, but it usually marks the beginning of adolescence.  In males, early maturation is not usually seen any one way or another; however, late maturation in males can make them feel dominated an insecure.  This is reversed in females.  Early maturation can make them feel awkward and conspicuous.

Teenagers are at the peak of physical health, strength, and mental capacity (in general terms), yet this is a very hazardous age.  Rates of death by injury between ages 15-19 are about 6 times greater than the rate between ages 10-14 because of an egocentric feeling of invincibility.

Teenagers bodies have sexually matured, but they have limited executive functions and tend to be impulsive.  They may end up reacting to peer pressure.  Sexually-active adolescents have a higher risk for Sexually Transmitted Infections (estimated 2.5 million teenagers).

Many teenagers experience sleep deprivation (<6 hours), which can lead to poor performance.  Adolescents experience what is called phase delay.  This concept is the teenagers body shifting its sleeping schedule, making them fall asleep later and waking up later.  It is natural for teenagers to have difficulty falling asleep before 11pm.

At this stage, teenagers have a great capacity for abstract thinking and use of symbols.  They are categorized by hypothetical thinking (what might be rather than what is), Utopian thinking (the future’s possibilities), and symbolic thinking (how a symbol can represent something greater).

Teenagers still experience a sense of egocentrism.  Adolescents are overly concerned about what others think of them, and feel under scrutiny or on stage (”imaginary audience”).  They also believe that their own thoughts and beliefs are special and unique, which can lead to them feeling alone and isolated.

The differences between genders (I’m sorry I don’t have any notes on trans youth we didn’t cover that) is now much more obvious due to cultural experiences.  Girls tend to be better in verbal skills such as reading, and expressive language, whereas boys tend to be better at visual-spatial abilities because of sports.  In a study of 7 million teenagers, they found no difference between boys and girls in mathematics.

*** Please note that this is a very simplified and edited version of my notes.  There are entire sections of the science behind development, and also disorders and diseases.  If you want a deeper explanation on anything, or posts about the two subjects I skipped over, please feel free to ask! ***

exclusionists, very clearly, on why we consider the A to be “ally”: the A is for “ally”, but it doesn’t actually mean that cishet allies are a part of the LGBT community. including “allies” in the acronym can be a way for closeted SGA/trans people to claim to only be allies so that they remain safe and don’t have to out themselves.

inclusionists anyway: lmao stupid exclusionists, they don’t want cishets in their community, and yet they’re including cishets by insisting that the A is for “ally”! score 1 for inclusionists.

what gets me about the use of “queer” as an umbrella term and personal identifier is that it’s SUCH an intra-community issue. I’ve had so many conversations with other LGBT people about the word “queer” and most of those conversations have been informative, respectful, and mindful of the fact that people from the same community might be coming from very different places with regards to this word. Then you come on tumblr and like, everyone’s fucking yelling, you can’t say “it’s complicated” without someone being like “WHY ARE YOU SAYING THAT I PERSONALLY CAN’T CALL MYSELF QUEER YOU HATEKEEPER”, you have people in their 30s calling themselves “the older generation” and acting like their experiences in cities with active LGBT communities define the way that the word is used today and accusing everyone else of straight up lying about their pain associated with it, like, I don’t generally like the word “toxic” because I feel like it’s vague and weirdly used but I have a hard time coming up with another word to describe how the discourse around “queer” online feels. Everything is just dripping with poison. I largely blame cishets who came along and decided that they wanted to be able to “reclaim” the word queer too without realizing how complex an intra-community issue this is because they’re not part of that community but I can’t just blame them, it’s LGBT people doing this too, and it makes me really sad to see the lack of compassion and inter-generational knowledge and respect going on.

Like honestly it wasn’t growing up in a small town where people definitely still used queer - and other terms - as a slur that ruined it for me as a personal identifier (FOR MYSELF, I say because every time I write something about this I get people being super defensive and accusing me of telling them personally how to identify, because you can’t have good faith on tumblr, I guess), I used to find a lot of power in taking it back. It’s been seeing how people who insist on applying the word “queer” to other people without their consent behave when someone points out that it has been and in some places and cultures still is a slur. THAT has been what has convinced me personally that I am not ready to reclaim it fully. I still call myself queer but only when I’m around people who I know will get where I’m coming from when I say that.

It’s a question that comes up quite a bit in my livestreams. There is no big secret behind it and I am by far not an expert when it comes to likenes, but I thought I’d write my process down for anybody who’s interested in how I go about drawing real people. Today’s victims are the Hat Films boys!

Cmon do you really have to call it the queer community...a lot of people are still hurt by that word and to be labeled as such without their consent can be really painful (I hope this doesn't sound mean; it's just that I hear it everyday irl In a bad way and it sucks when I see people considering me and others queer when it's used against us in such a negative way all the time)

Mnn. I understand where you’re coming from-I do apologise for discomfort. but  understand (this is going to sound rough but this is something core to me), I am that one letter in the community which so many people leave out. I am not ‘in’ any other letter–not as they are commonly understood. It’s discomfort for me and others to always be knocked out of the naming; it’s our pain. Especially when queer used to be the umbrella term.

Queer is the word we reclaimed. it’s a word that is recognised academically-queer theory, just as one example–and i’ll fight to keep it. It’s inclusive, radfems hate it (if you read that in the clickbait voice, congratulations), and the backlash against the term is actually very recent, whereas the reclamation of queer is older than me (1980s vs. 1990s), and probably you. We hold onto ‘gay’ even though you can hear that thrown around as an off-hand insult almost daily–why not queer?

For the record, I don’t refer to people I know who have explicitly expressed their discomfort with the term as such. Before I was an unbothered user of ‘LQGBT’. But that does not change that people who do not slot comfortably have embraced it, and continue to do so.

If you want to unfollow, or just block, that’s fair. But that’s my stance on the matter.

damn the latest rtc fic was very nerve-wracking but heartwarming. it was great that so many things happen and so many topics are talked about but none seem dissonant in the story. I loved loved loved the boys' dynamic and how they're at the point where they understand each other so well even without words and how they draw strength from each other. also fyi the pronunciation of 'njörd' resembles very closely that of one of the spanish words for 'shit' just a fun fact that's very fitting for him

ahhhh thank you! :D I’m really glad you liked it. and I’m really glad none of the side topics felt pushed in or tacked on.

@ameliarating commented while betaing this one that they’ve really come a long way in terms of communicating and being willing to rely on each other - where they used to trip over miscommunication every other conversation now they can manage without words. and she pointed out that in the first scene where Loki wakes Steve up, not so long ago he might well have just gone out on his own (because he’s used to that being how it works).

is it weird to say I’m proud of fictional characters when I wrote all of their character development because I’m proud of these nerds

(also, hahahaha good, it is indeed very fitting, he is The Worst.)

I feel like you should know, apropos of nothing, that I like seeing comments and stuff from you because I basically just picture you like your icon, so it’s like having a faintly disapproving pepper potts talking to me, and while obviously I would rather not have pepper potts disapprove of me I mean at least she is talking to me

You know, I normally don’t say anything if someone posts something on social media that I do not agree with because I believe everyone is entitled to their opinions. But, I couldn’t pass up this tweet without commenting. Sorry for the rant that is about to occur.

Someone tweeted about not understanding how someone could attend college for four years to study theatre/plays. Now, of course theatre has to do with reading plays; but, it is so much more than that.

Theatre is about understanding how people’s brains work, how they think and feel. It’s the study of psychology. Theatre is about learning to relate to many different people in many different ways. It’s the study of communication. Theatre people have to be fascinated by words, because we have to know many different words and how to use them. These words even include medical and scientific terminology. It’s the study of English and language. Theatre practitioners must love history, because we must be aware of how the world worked in different time periods. Theatre is about thinking creatively, and outside of the box. It’s about learning to understand ideas and concepts that have never even crossed your mind. It’s the study of philosophy. Knowing how businesses work and are effected by the economy is essential if one wants to work in a theatre. It’s the study of economics. Theatre is the study of truth, it’s the study of life.

Theatre can make people feel, and think. It can make people believe, remember, forget, explore, and understand different things. Theatre creates open-minded individuals, with a love for learning.

Some people are very quick to judge and comment on things they know very little about. There are so many factors that go into studying theatre, which many people are unaware of.

Theatre has led me to meet some of the most creative, intelligent, and compassionate people that exist in this world.

I am fortunate enough to say that I am passionate about what I study, and will love my future career. I am proud to be a theatre major.

#57- Inventing a secret sex language for public use (Wincest)

Requested by @angelus320 for my kink list.

Warning: smut, some dirty talk, semi-public sex

Word Count: 1500ish

A/N: Hope you enjoy! Feedback is appreciated.

It’s only natural that Dean and Sam have a secret language. They are brothers, after all, and have been living in small motel rooms and cabins and rental houses, inches away from each other, their whole lives. Talking in complete, obvious sentences just became a little unnecessary along the way. And when it comes to hunting, it’s helpful to have certain codes and buzzwords they can use to communicate without being understood by anyone or anything around them.

And since it’s only natural that they have a secret language, it’s only natural that when they start having sex, they develop a secret language for that, too. But maybe this one is developed a little more intentionally.

Anthony- Tony Stark One Shot

Pairing: Tony Stark X Reader

Prompt: You have been Tony’s best friend since childhood. The Avengers are shocked that the billionaire allows you to call him by his full name, ‘Anthony’. They realize that you and Tony have romantic feelings for each other, and they try to set you up in three days.

Word Count: 1500

You had been best friends with Tony Stark all throughout your childhood. Although during high school you developed romantic feelings for him, you two were still platonically stuck together like glue. You could never admit your feelings to him, in fear that he didn’t reciprocate them. Unfortunately, you two were forced to journey separate ways when Tony went one way for college and you went the other. He became Iron-Man and you became a part of Doctors Without Borders, traveling the world to help others. With your separate lives, you eventually lost communication with each other. A year after your last contact, you were back in New York for the week and had decided it was time to pay an old friend a visit.

You walked into the Tower and notified JARVIS of who you were. The AI allowed you into the elevator and took you to the main floor. You stepped off the elevator and were met by five pairs of curious eyes that belonged to Steve Rogers, Thor Odinson, Wanda Maximoff, Natasha Romanoff, and Clint Barton. The five were sitting on couches, watching something on the TV. When they heard the elevator ding, they looked to investigate.

“Who are you?” Clint asked, bluntly.

“I’m Y/N. Is Anthony here?” You replied with a smile. You felt a bit self-conscious about being in front of five complete strangers in their own home.

“Anthony? You mean Tony?” Steve asked.

“Yes. Is he here? JARVIS told me he was.”

“I’m sorry, but how do we know we can trust you?” Natasha questioned, “After all, you are a stranger here.”

“Romanoff, it’s fine.” Tony interrupted stepping into the room, “Y/N! Long time no see.”

“Anthony!” You smiled as he pulled you into a tight hug, “I’ve missed you so much. How have you been?”

“Busy saving the world, but then again so are you.”

“I wouldn’t necessarily call it that. I mean I am helping others with illnesses, but it’s nothing compared to you.” He let go of you and turned to your friends.

“Avengers, this is Y/N. Y/N, these are the Avengers. I’m so sorry about them. I had no idea you were here until JARVIS alerted me.” Tony explained.

“How exactly do you two know each other?” Clint asked, clearly confused at the exchange.

“We grew up together, practically inseparable.” He turned to you, “Do you want a drink? Or do you want to see my lab? Bruce is currently down there.”

“Lab, definitely.” You smiled and he lead you away to the lab.

“That was very strange.” Steve said.

“I’ve never seen Tony talk to a girl that much without hitting on her.” Natasha stated.

“She must really mean a lot to him. He never cringed when she used his full name. He hates it when we do that.” Thor replied and the others simply nodded their heads in agreement.

“It feels great to have my best friend back.” Tony said to you that night. You two were sitting together, eating pizza for dinner. The rest of the Avengers were all around you.

“So Y/N, what do you do for a living?” Steve asked.

“I’m a doctor. I’m in the Doctors Without Borders program so I travel to various countries and help vaccinate the citizens.” You explained.

“See? She’s a superhero all on her own.” Tony said.

“Anthony always joked about me having healing powers. I would always nurse him back to health whenever he got sick.” You added.

“That’s nice.” Natasha replied.

“Which country did you just return from?” Clint asked.

“Bolivia. Thursday, I leave for Mozambique.”

“Thursday? But that’s only three days from now? I thought you said you were staying for a week.” Tony asked. Sadness was present in his voice.

“Well it was technically six days. I spent three of them with my family. I thought I’d spend the other three with you. I haven’t seen you in a while and I’ve really missed my best friend.” You replied.

“How long are you going to be in Mozambique?”

“At least six months. AIDS and other STDs are extremely bad in sub-Saharan Africa. The death and illness rates are continuing to rise.”

“I say we have a party. You’re not leaving New York for God knows how long without attending a classic Stark party.” Tony said.

“You know how I am with parties, Anthony.”

“It will be fine. They’re loads of fun.” He begged with his best puppy dog eyes until you eventually gave in.

Over the next few days, the Avengers were able to observe you and Tony as you two continued to interact with each other. Bruce witnessed the two of you geeking out in the lab. Clint interrupted an intense tickle fight over the remote. Natasha overheard you explaining how antibodies worked to Tony, although she was positive he already knew. Thor saw you two cuddled up underneath a blanket, asleep on the couch at 3 AM. Steve was in the room while you were throwing grapes at Tony, trying to make it in his mouth. Wanda walked in on you cutting his hair cautiously. The team, except for Tony of course, decided that it was more than friendship between you two. They noticed how you would admire him when you thought no one was looking. They also took note of how different the billionaire was around you. He was happier and dialed back on his flirtatious nature.

On your last night, Tony held a party, as he promised. You didn’t fully grasp why he was hosting an event, but went along with your party animal friend anyway. Tony was standing off to the side, searching for you. With the crowd in his living room, it made it quite difficult to spot you.

“Looking for Y/N?” Steve asked, coming up to him.

“Yes.” He replied, “Have you seen her?”

“She was over by the bar the last I saw her. But before you go searching for her, I gotta know, Tony, do you love her? More than a friend?”

“I have no clue what the hell you are talking about.” Tony lied.

“Come on. We all see the way you look at her and the way you treat her. You’re a completely different man around Y/N. You also allow her to call you Anthony.”

“She’s the only person, other than my parents, who has ever called me my full name and gotten away with it. Don’t expect that since she can call me it, you can too, Spangles.”

“Fine, fine. I won’t call you by your full name. You didn’t answer me-do you love her as more than a friend?”

“Yes, as a matter of fact I do. I have since senior year of high school. I could never say anything to her about it.”

“Why don’t you tell her tonight?” Steve asked.

“I can’t tell her. She’s leaving for Africa tomorrow.”

“And this chance won’t come around for at least another five months. Tony, you’ve got to tell her. She feels the same. We can all see it.” Steve explained.

“In order for me to say it to her, I’ll need more booze.”

“Anthony, don’t get completely wasted tonight.” You said, coming up behind him. Both men jumped and you laughed.

“How much of that did you hear?” Tony asked.

“Just you wishing for more alcohol. Typical you.” You smiled.

“I’m going to go find Nat.” Steve said, walking away. Behind your back, he gave Tony a thumbs up.

“You look lovely as ever, Y/N.” Tony complimented you. You looked down at your red dress and shrugged.

“It’s not everyday I get to attend a Stark party.” You laughed, “Thank you. You don’t look so bad yourself, Anthony.” You reached up to straight out his tie.

“Will you come with me outside for a moment?” He asked. You could tell that his normal confidence was gone. He was a little bit shaky and nervous.

“Of course.” You replied. He lead you out onto the empty balcony. It overlooked the city. You admired the view in awe.

“I’ve been meaning to tell you something. It’s been on my mind for quite a while now.” Tony said and you nodded your head to tell him 'go ahead’. He sighed and you turned to face him, “Y/N, I love you as more than a friend. I don’t want you going to Mozambique tomorrow not knowing how much I care about you.”

“Oh, Anthony.” You laughed lightly, “You don’t know how long I’ve been dying to hear you say those words to me.”

“Are you saying that you feel the same?” He asked. You watched as his nervousness was beginning to leave. You smiled and grabbed the back of his neck, pulling his lips to yours. After the initial shock wore off, Tony wrapped his arms around you and proceeded to kiss back.

“Do you have to leave tomorrow?” He mumbled when you pulled away.

“I can push it back by a few weeks.” You replied.

“Good.” Tony said, pulling you in again.

Just because you’re comfortable using a reclaimed slur to label yourself in no way means you can speak for your community and say that because YOU are comfortable, that term is good to use. This goes for sexuality, ablism, etc. I can call myself queer or crazy because of my sexuality and mental health, but I CANNOT use those words to refer to others without their consent, nor can I use those words as umbrella terms. It’s incredibly disrespectful.

Can I request a one shot where Jughead is really terrible with his words when talking to the reader, and he tries almost everything to communicate with her until he gets the idea to write her a note. She thinks it's every possible guy but him so one day he decides to man up and confront her about it. You can decide how it ends. Thanks, xoxo.

graffiti thoughts

so, there’s a lot of shit going around about banksy right now.

i’m just going to say here that i’m not a graffiti artist. i very much enjoy graffiti but i don’t make graffiti art and these are simply my personal thoughts as an outside perspective.

first of all, i don’t think that tagging and what banksy does are even in the same league. tagging is a specific statement. it takes space, it is a nonviolent way to fight the legality and oppression of the government. it breaks the law in an artistic way where nobody gets hurt. it’s used to claim territory, to immortalize, and to fight against the powers at be. in most cases, its freestyled. it takes hours. the graffiti community is tight knit and exercises a good amount of respect for one another. graffiti is seen by most as a blemish, strange words or names written fantastically on walls that don’t belong to the artist, without permission, and are often covered up by street cleaners because they depreciate business/real estate value.

i do not find banksy as a graffiti artist because he doesn’t do these things. he’s not a radical and he’s not some kind of political revolutionary. he’s not claiming space for the oppressed, he’s just trying to make a buck on a scene he probably thought was cool.

EDIT: this doesn’t mean banksy isnt a street artist. i was simply addressing the misconception that his work is “graffiti”. street artists, like banksy, usually use stencils and make statements about social policies, war, racism, etc. street art is usually more widely accepted as art. however i meant to make it more clear that i disagree with people who specifically think he is a graffiti artist and rereading this post i see i didn’t really have the intended effect due to poor wording.

this would be fine with me, if it wasn’t for the inexcusable tragedy that was the years leading up to King Robbo’s death.

this piece was painted by King Robbo in 1985. It was located under the London Transport Police Headquarters in Camden, London. this place was only accessible by water. when most of Robbo’s other works had been covered up, this one remained. for a while it was the oldest piece in London.

by 2009, the piece had gone the way most tags go, everything is transient and every space is fair game for more people to make their marks. this is the nature of graffiti, and to it King Robbo took no offense.

that year, Banksy painted this. It is a wall painter, removing the piece from the walls. he took the oldest piece of graffiti in london, which was no longer even just King Robbo’s, but an impromptu collaboration between many london graffiti artists, and he disrespected it. if it wasn’t enough that they were getting jailed while banksy was making millions for the same work, he disrespected them. he spit on them. he decided his statement was worth more than the oldest piece of graffiti in london and on top of that, THIS IS A STENCIL. he couldn’t even free-hand it! he decided his LITERAL cookie-cutter street art was more important that Robbo’s only surviving legacy.

EDIT: tumblr user sixtypizzas explained to me that this was supposed to be a wall painter putting up King Robbo’s piece, which is somehow more insulting to me. this is just my opinion and you’re welcome to draw your own conclusions but depicting somebody paste up King Robbo’s most famous work seems to cheapen it.

insulted, King Robbo replied. he was quoted saying  “I was at a place called the Dragon Bar on Old Street. I was introduced to a couple of guys who were like ‘whoa it’s nice to meet you!’. When I was introduced to Banksy, I went 'Oh yeah I’ve heard of you mate, how you doing?’ and he went 'well I’ve never heard of you’…he dismissed me as a nobody, as nothing. So with that I slapped him and went 'oh what you ain’t heard of me? you won’t forget me now will you?’ and with that he picked up his glasses and ran off.” obviously this was an insulting display to King Robbo, who had managed what most graffiti artists can never pull off, he had a timeless piece. he gained some fame, some notoriety. this piece, of all the pieces in london, banksy covered up with a stencil. EVEN SO, Robbo left banksy’s work, whereas banksy deliberately covered his up.

banksy replied. as you can see, very thought provoking. quite profound.

King Robbo corrected the piece.

at this point, an unknown third part covers the wall.

it wasn’t over, as this had become very personal for King Robbo. He painted this work. At this point, many other graffiti artists had already started tagging the streets with “TEAM ROBBO”.  many of banksy’s works were being tagged over, like he did to King Robbo’s, in an effort to send a message. Mainstream media called these “defacement” and “vandalism” of banksy Originals, where the travesty against King Robbo went mostly unnoticed outside london and the graffiti community.

as you can see, Team Robbo exploded, giving many of banksy’s pieces the same respect he gave King Robbo’s long-standing artwork.

after being blacked out again, banksy painted this piece. the meaning is lost on me, if you know what it means, let me know. it’s strange and confusing.

EDIT: tumblr user inthebellyofaelephant explained the meaning of the piece as thus:  “The meaning about what bansky did with the weird living room mural is he is calling king robbo a fish out of water thus why a fish is jumping out of the bowl. Kinda saying that they are not I’m the same league in a very banksy style.”

this had gone on into 2011, when King Robbo fell into a coma. It was only 5 days before his exhibition, “Team Robbo - The Sellout Tour”. he unfortunately never got to attend his exhibition, and never again woke up. he died in july 2014.

banksy, supposedly making a memorial, made sure he got the last word:

RIP King Robbo.
