Cassian was one of the best Jaeger pilots of the PPDC until, during a fight with a huge Kaiju, he felt his co-pilot dying. Key was his best friend, his only friend, and Cassian never recovered, choosing to retire, to escape far from the battlefield.
Burdened by self-pity and an oppressing sense of guilt, Cassian struggles to survive, until one day General Saw Guerrera, his old boss’s co-pilot, finds him, asking him to come back. They need pilots, all those they can find. They need him.
The exact moment Cassian enters the Shatterdome he realizes he’s home.
Jyn Erso is Saw’s adoptive daughter and a great pilot. Or at least she is on paper as Guerrera has always prevented her from piloting one of those metal giants she loves so much. The official excuse? She’s not ready. In reality? He just doesn’t want to lose the one member of the only family he’s ever had.
As Jyn and Cassian try to persuade Saw that they are drift compatible, Bodhi Rook lab technician is trying to find a way to understand Kaiju’s attack’s pattern. His research brings him face to face with organ smuggler and Kaiju enthusiast Orson Krennik. Not his brightest moment.
Bonus: the mighty Jaeger known as Force Alpha is piloted by married couple Chirrut & Baze, Jyn’s old friend and Cassian’s old acquaintances.
Jyn’s and Cassian’s Jaeger is called Rogue One by Bodhi, because “you are both scoundrels”.

Where's the video of Roman, Logan, Dad and Anxiety for this week?

Because of how extensive those videos are (script-writing, gathering of any props, possible songs, filming, editing, etc.) we’re aiming to make and post those every two weeks. I figured it best to do that anyway so you all would be getting the best quality videos possible, seeing how right now, it’s just me and my friend, Joan, putting our heads together to make them. I’ll make an official announcement of that schedule, in a future youtube vid! Hope that’s understandable!

I want yellow walls in here. And china with a modern pattern. I don’t want roses or violets on it.I want geometric designs. I want the only flowers to be real flowers. Over there, on that windowsill, where they’ll catch the light each morning when the sun comes up. And I want to smell coffee when I wake up. And bleach, because that will mean you’re here, or that you’ve just gone out. And when you come back in, I can say “Welcome home.”

prompt: based off my post

a/n: this is for my man jeff who i love and appreciate !! also first 13 reasons why imagine !! feedback is appreciated and requests are always open

You and Jeff walked into the gymnasium, your arms interlocked at the elbow. You had worn your favorite dress, which complimented your body perfectly. The moment you stepped out your house door, Jeff was swooning. Your cheeks had turned a bright shade of red. “You look beautiful Y/N.” Jeff said before giving you a kiss on your lips. “You don’t look so bad yourself.” You replied. You weren’t lying, the man looked heavenly in suits.

But as you entered, you saw white snowflakes along the walls and blue lights illuminated the gym. You headed over to the table with food, grabbing a light snack. You looked around the crowded gym for Jeff, spotting him sitting on bleachers, next to Clay Jensen. You walked over and sat on the other side of Clay. “And what are you boys talking about now?” You ask, taking a bite of your snack.

“Um, nothing Y/N. Jeff is just meddling with my love life.” Clay replied, looking across the gym. A small smile had appeared on his face, and you followed his view only to see, Hannah Baker. “Go talk to her. Ask her to dance.” You speak up, looking at Clay with a grin on your face. “You know I can’t dance.” He shot back, leading to Jeff letting out a laugh. “Nobody here could dance.” He claimed, and the three of you looked around, laughing and agreeing with your boyfriend’s statement.

“C'mon Jenson. We made a deal, if i got a C or above, you would come to the dance. Now go and talk to her.” Jeff spoke, Clay sighing then standing up, mumbling a rushed ‘Fine.’ You and Jeff watch as Clay and Hannah walk up to each other. You see Hannah speak and a smile appears on her face, then the two start to dance, if you could call it dancing. You and Jeff high five each other, big grins on each other faces.

“I totally ship them.” You spoke. “Our meddling has totally worked.” Jeff replied and you nodded your head in agreement. The two of you intertwine your fingers, leaning into a passionate kiss. Jeff cups your face in his hands as you both pull away. “I love you Y/N Y/L/N.” Jeff said in admiration. “And I love you Jeff Atkins.” You stand up, stepping off the bleachers and reaching out your head. “Now c'mon Atkins, dance with me.” You smirk, Jeff stands up and takes your hand in his.

The two of you walk and start to dance but making sure the both of you could keep an eye on Hannah and Clay. “Look Atkins, we’re cupids now.“ You said motioning Jeff to the view of Hannah and Clay kissing. Jeff brings you into a hug and kisses your forehead. “You’re my sweetheart Y/LN. I love you.” Jeff speaks and you feel yourself blush. “What did I do to be blessed by Jeff Atkins?” You ask before the two of you continue to spend the rest of the night in the company of each other.

Pairing: Peter Quill x OC

Warnings: None…tiny, tiny spoiler for Vol. 2

21 Recommended Books for Writers

As I’ve talked about on my blog several times, an important part of growing as a writer is learning about writing. For years I’ve wanted to compile a list of writing books I’ve read, liked, and recommend. Today I’m happy to say I now have that list to add to my blog (perfect timing for anyone who likes summer reading). I’m sure over time, this list will be added to.

Many writers I’ve talked to have read quite a few of these books. How many have you read? And is there one I need to look into? (You can comment at the bottom).

If you haven’t read any of them, cool. Now you have a list to chose from should you ever want to.

Hundreds of books have been written on the art of writing. Here at last is a book by two professional editors to teach writers the techniques of the editing trade that turn promising manuscripts into published novels and short stories.

In this completely revised and updated second edition, Renni Browne and Dave King teach you, the writer, how to apply the editing techniques they have developed to your own work. Chapters on dialogue, exposition, point of view, interior monologue, and other techniques take you through the same processes an expert editor would go through to perfect your manuscript. Each point is illustrated with examples, many drawn from the hundreds of books Browne and King have edited.

What makes a good story or a screenplay great?

The vast majority of writers begin the storytelling process with only a partial understanding where to begin. Some labor their entire lives without ever learning that successful stories are as dependent upon good engineering as they are artistry. But the truth is, unless you are master of the form, function and criteria of successful storytelling, sitting down and pounding out a first draft without planning is an ineffective way to begin.

Story Engineering starts with the criteria and the architecture of storytelling, the engineering and design of a story–and uses it as the basis for narrative. The greatest potential of any story is found in the way six specific aspects of storytelling combine and empower each other on the page. When rendered artfully, they become a sum in excess of their parts.

How about the lions becoming human or whatever race with a side of langst?

Fuck yes!!!!!! Mama Blue to the rescue!!!!!! :D
———————————
The new ability had come out of nowhere. One minute Pidge was frustrated with a new upgrade, and the next a human version of her Lion was pointing out what was wrong with the programming.
After that, a human form became available to Black, Yellow, and even Red. Green looked quite similar to Pidge’s mother, Colleen. Black explained that they chose their form based on an important female figure in their Paladin’s life, with a few differences. Like Green having bright lime colored hair and golden eyes.
The hair color matched the Lion’s metal, and all of their eyes were golden. They were a physical manifestation of their own Quintessence, while their metal bodies stayed put.
And yet, Blue still didn’t have her human form. That function was damaged, and she’d had no time to repair it since she’d been reactivated.
Lance didn’t blame her one bit, but he did feel slightly jealous every time he saw Hunk and Yellow, a bubbly yet bulky blonde reminiscent of Hunk’s mother, chatting away and baking in the kitchen or Keith actually laughing while training with Red, who may have been short and slim figured but was fast on her feet.
What really hurt, was that nobody seemed to care about it. Their Lions took his place as the friendly guy to the team. Pidge had Green to keep her active, Hunk had Yellow to soothe his anxiety, Shiro had Black to calm his flashbacks or nightmares, Keith had Red to tell him when to stop training for the day.
Nobody needed him around anymore.
Most of his time was spent in Blue’s cockpit, blurting out his frustrations and worries and fears while she hummed to him to calm him, upset she couldn’t assure his worth with words like she wished to do. He didn’t know if anybody even noticed that he was hardly around anymore, aside from missions. He kept it to himself, knowing that the Lions made his team happy, he couldn’t be selfish and beg for attention. He was raised better than that.
The tipping point was during a mission to destroy a Galran main support ship. They had formed Voltron to fight back, but that’s where everything went to Hell. An overcharged laser cannon hit Blue, inflicting horrifying damage and actually snapping the leg off of the main body. They were forced to split up, Blue returning to her previous Lion form but unable to move as her pilot wasn’t responsive.
Blue was sent flying at high speeds into a planet so very very far away from her sisters, crashing into a black ocean that felt thick and heavy against her metal skin as they sunk to the planet’s ice cold core.
Her Lance was bleeding, badly. He was burnt and sliced up from the electricity of the laser. She drew in power from the sludgy ocean and forced herself to form a human body inside her own cockpit. Fluffy, curly blue hair bounced around her tan shoulders as her slim, twiggy body smoothed out her blue t-shirt and jean shorts, grimacing at the sticky dark red liquid staining her bare feet.
Wasting no time, she hurried to where her first aid kit was stored and pulled out everything, more than a little frantic. She almost slid on the bloody floor while dashing back, but she caught herself and pulled away his armor, leaving him in his black undersuit. She’d left a working light on before she’d shifted, as it was pitch dark outside her windows, and proceeded to tend to the burns and slashes carefully.
She pulled him onto the floor with her, and tucked his head onto her chest, purring soothingly, light glinting off of her golden eyes. She tilted her head back to look at the ceiling.
She hoped her sisters found them soon.

If you want a part two, let me know! Instead, have this Mama Blue and langst ;)
I’ve gotta go cook dinner right now, but I’ll be back in a bit!

Loving the text messages!! Keep up the good work! Also if you don't mind could you describe darks and antis personalities according to you?

Absolutely!!! Beware though, I’m about to wax poetic because I LOVE these two characters. I’m sorry that this post is so long but I’m NOT putting it under a cut because I worked on this for over a fucking hour instead of writing my history paper and I want at least one person to actually read it. :P

I’m gonna go a little in depth with what I believe is their canon personalities according to my interpretation and then how I incorporate those interpretations into Texts From Dark And Anti. Some of you may be surprised to find that I actually heavily take their canonical personalities into account when I make my edits; it’s not all just dick jokes and memes for the sake of notes. Texts From Dark And Anti is my love letter to these two characters, and I’ve gone to great lengths to portray them in the best way possible.

But enough babbling. Let’s start with Dark.

CANON PERSONALITY: Master Manipulator and Sexual Predator

Per Mark, Dark is a master manipulator. He’s a snake in the grass, ready to tell you anything and everything you need to hear in order to get what he wants from you.

I’d argue that this often works for him. Obviously he’s a very good actor if he’s able to mimic Mark perfectly in the “Chocolate” ending, so that makes me think that he’s able to assume whatever personality and/or extend whatever favors he needs to to trick his victims into abiding by him.

But it’s also worth mentioning that Dark’s biggest weakness (arguably) is his jealousy. As Mark said, Dark’s extremely jealous of Mark, and he wants everything that Mark has: wealth, fame, success, and devoted fans. I’d be willing to believe that that last thing is what rubs Dark wrong the most.

Evidence? Mark’s fans are exactly what he goes after. Wanna know what’s freakier? IT FUCKING WORKED.

Mark took all of his fans out on a date. All of us adored him for it. Dark got jealous of this, so he infiltrated the date and tried to get us to support him instead. And when Tyler Mark showed up to fight him, Dark didn’t kill him himself. He manipulated us into doing it for him.

And what brings this home is that Dark has had the longest lasting potential out of anything to come out of this video. All of the other memes and references have lost their luster by now, but the resurgence of Dark-related fan art, ask/rp blogs, edits, and memes are still going strong. Dark infiltrated our date and convinced us to love him and worship him the same way that we do Mark, and we fucking fell for it.

So why does he do this? Is it just because he’s a jealous prick? Partially, but I think that, canonically, there’s more to it. I think it’s because he thrives on his ability to hold power over people, which is comparable to–get ready for it–sexual predators.

Dark exhibits a lot of the traits we normally attribute to these criminals. He’s attractive, charismatic, extremely manipulative, and sadistic. He says things like, “I can give you anything,” and, “If it’s dinner you want, I can provide.” Provide is an interesting word choice here, because that’s what society has dictated the man in a relationship should do. He even acts seductive: arching his neck, eye-fucking the camera, and he even blows us a kiss (see below). But the way that he grabs and shakes us periodically throughout his mental breakdown betrays his inner sadism and anger issues, also common among sexual predators. I absolutely think that based on Dark’s behavior and what we know about him, he’s totally down to fuck anyone and everyone in order to get what he wants–consensual or otherwise. And I definitely think he’ll enjoy it.

I wouldn’t necessarily say that Dark is a nymphomaniac. As an otherworldly being, it’s entirely possible he doesn’t even have a sex drive. But sexual predators don’t usually rape their victims just to get their dicks wet. Usually, it’s a power issue; they want to feel like they have mastery over something, and that they are dominant and in control. Given Dark’s obsession with taking all of Mark’s glory away from him, coupled with his violent mood swings and sadism, I would say that sexual assault is probably just one of the many ways he appeases his insatiable appetite for power and manipulation. And I’d even bet that it’s one of his go-to’s.

In Texts From Dark And Anti, I normally portray Dark as a bitter old demon who doesn’t understand memes and doesn’t want to put up with anybody’s shit. But I didn’t just do this for fun; I did it because I could see Dark being jaded in real life. Off-camera, when he’s not trying to seduce us into adoring him over Mark, I could see him being sick of being overlooked. He’s old, even by Mark’s channel’s standards, and up until “A Date With Markiplier”, he wasn’t mainstream in the fandom at all–not fun for someone who craves the adoration of others. So he’d definitely be off-put by Anti’s much younger, more erratic personality, and in a bad mood he’d bitch at him for it. But in a good mood, he’d use it to his advantage to get whatever he wants–sex, souls, and anything else his blackened heart desires, both for the reward and the thrill of not having to do it himself.

Now let’s talk about Anti.

CANON PERSONALITY: Chaotic Psychopath

Jack has been near-silent on his personal interpretation of Anti (although he’s stated that he definitely has a personal canon that he refuses to share, the little fucker), so all of this is going to come from speculation and what we see onscreen.

While Dark chose to make his debut in one long, continuous, elegant appearance, Anti showed up randomly throughout the month of October, with no prelude and no explanation as to why he was there. Also in contrast to Dark’s smooth, charismatic personality, Anti is visibly unstable, jittery, and psychotic. Both he and Dark exhibit bloodlust, but Anti doesn’t hide it. He doesn’t hold back any of his sociopathic tendencies, going so far as to murder his host on camera for the world to see.

We don’t exactly know what Anti’s agenda is, but that’s just it: I don’t think he has one. At least, not one beyond the psychotic urge to kill as much and as many people as he can. Even in “Say Goodbye”, all he does is laugh at/condemn the viewer for not warning Jack and saving him. The other times he was on camera in October, he was glitchy, with several different appearances (fangs, gauges, blood, etc.) and contorted, unsettling body movements, making me think that Anti is a supernatural being that thrives on chaos and bloodshed.

But  Anti doesn’t just want to cause havoc–he wants to cause havoc and get the credit he deserves for it. That’s why he showed up so much on camera without Jack noticing; he was there for us, not him. Then he made a big deal about us not telling Jack what was going on, condemning us for our failure to make his existence well-known. Then he crashed Jack’s panel at PAX, angry at us for “forgetting” him. He’s not trying to garner our support like Dark is; if anything, he wants us to be terrified of him.

But personally, if I had to choose between being locked in a room with Dark and being locked in a room with Anti, I’d choose Anti in a heartbeat. Because even though Anti is more obviously psychotic, at least I’d know I would be killed quickly–unlike Dark, who would torture and manipulate me verbally, physically, and possibly even sexually for an indeterminate amount of time. This is Anti’s downfall, I think; Dark disguises his true nature with seduction and charisma, but because Anti’s so unpredictable and surface-level, he identifies himself as a very obvious threat, ironically making him a little easier to understand.

Thus, my interpretation of him in Texts From Dark And Anti reflects this (albeit in a more comedic way). Anti loves memes and silly trends because he wants to stick out in a way that’ll gain recognition. He’s more up-to-date with Internet trends and slang because he’s much younger than Dark–but that also means that he’s more gullible, and a lot of simple things go over his head. Basically all of his emotions are double that of Dark’s, and he makes no efforts to disguise them. He’s also much more privvy to senseless murder than Dark. This speaks highly of his psychotic tendencies and general disregard for any order or secrets he could be bothering to keep. What you see of Anti is what you get: an easily-excitable, always-ready-to-fuck-shit-up killing machine.

But tysm for asking!! And if any of you bothered reading this far, PLEASE reblog or leave a reply with your thoughts on my interpretation of these two characters and how you characterize them personally. I’m super crazy interested in the lore around these two (or lack thereof), which is why I created Texts From Dark And Anti in the first place. ^_^

Fall For You (M) | 01

→ gif ©

Summary: You hate a lot of things about Jeon Jungkook; you hate his arrogance, his reputation, and his pet name for you to name a few. But most of all, you hate how right it feels for you to fall into his arms, and how easy it is to fall for him.
Word Count: 10,764
Genre: fuckboy!Jungkook, college au, hate to lust to…
A/N: Completely inspired by this vine that I saw months ago that hasn’t left me alone since. Bonus points to those who notice the line of the song in the fic. Extra bonus points to those who recognize the Hamilton reference

Part 02. Part 03 + Drabbles

If you were being completely honest, your issue with Jeon Jungkook began years before university.

You’d grown up close to each other, his house was right across from yours but you’d hated him from the moment you met in primary school. He’d joined you and your friends in a game of truth or dare during recess, and his dare for you had been to race him from one end of the playground to the other. You had tripped, cutting your knees open but he’d continued running, winning before realizing you weren’t behind him anymore. Only by that time, the teacher had gotten to you and you’d spent the rest of primary school glaring at Jungkook whenever he was in your sights, childishly blaming him for your scars.

Of course, you didn’t hold that grudge still. Your first year of university had just started, and it would be petty and pathetic of you to still hate him for that reason. But Jungkook had given you several more reasons to hate him throughout your years of schooling.

You’d watched throughout middle and high school as Jungkook grew from a cheeky, cocky kid, into an even cockier young man. He’d never cared much for his grades, choosing instead to throw parties with his friends, to ditch class occasionally, and rile up any girls he chose. You stayed away from him, attending different parties and sticking with your small group of friends, and by the second year of high school Jungkook became one of the most well known players of the town.

Since you brought up the sort of myths with fandom vs what you've seen in tv... I'm sure you've seen in probably all fandoms, there comes a time when a collective comes together to say that something is/isn't happening because of "X movie company" or "management". So my question is - from behind the scenes, how much of that is actually true? Like are there people really holding the strings like that? Or are we going crazy? 😳

The answer is it’s complicated.

Also, you’re not crazy.

Let me start by comparing TV writing to book writing. I just wrote a book, and I only got creative notes from one person, my editor. She does two rounds of notes with me (a general edit and a line edit) and then passes me off to the copyeditor, who gives me grammar and spelling and continuity notes. Then it goes to print! Easy peasy! (Well, not easy at all, it’s a lot of work, but very straightforward.)

Compare that process to the TV writing process. Every Rdale script is broken (meaning: figured out) in the writer’s room, where there are 11 writers plus Roberto, our fair boss and Showrunner. We all chime in with ideas and suggestions and Roberto decides what direction he likes best and chooses the pitches that work best until we have a working outline. Then we put the scenes onto notecards, moving them around, re-breaking, rejiggering, until the story works. That’s a lot of hands stirring the pot so far, but we have one head chef: Roberto.

Then we write an outline, which gets notes from the producers, the studio (Warner Brothers), and the network (CW). Then we adjust based on those notes, which come from a few of the execs at each company, who are smart and very good at their jobs, which involves reading and analyzing TV scripts from many shows and deciding what works well for them. They’re drawing on their whole careers-worth of experience doing this on lots of different shows to figure out how to guide the direction of Rdale.

Then we go to script. The writer of that episode takes the very detailed outline and starts writing scenes. Sometimes s/he might farm out some scenes to other people in the writers room, or sometimes the room will move on to the next episode and leave that writer to write solo.

Then the completed script goes to Roberto, who does a pass on it to make it sound like his vision for the show, and feel like the characters he has in his head.

Then, when he’s happy, he brings it back to the writers room and we all read it and go through it page by page together to revise it and give notes. At this point, Roberto has the script open on a computer in front of him, and he changes dialogue, action lines, scenes, etc. live as we give feedback.

Then, the script goes back to the producers, the studio, and the network, to get notes from them. Sometimes those notes are minimal, and sometimes they’re major, it all depends. The writer and Roberto make revisions based on those notes. Sometimes we have to go back to the room and rebreak as a group, but usually not.

Somewhere along the way, someone at Archie Comics reads it to make sure we’re taking care of the characters they’ve had and loved for 75 years.

At some point, someone in a legal department reads it for clearance, which means sometimes we can’t use certain brand names in dialogue or else we’ll get sued, and we can’t use certain people’s names unless they’re in the public eye.

Also someone in some department reads it to make sure we aren’t swearing too much or referring to something too vulgar or the FCC will fine us.

Then the script is sent up to Vancouver where production reads it and starts pre-production. Sometimes there are changes to the script at that point because we can’t get a location or we can’t get an actor because he’s booked on another series, or the weather won’t allow us to shoot somewhere, or we have to move an outdoor scene indoors, or a night scene to day for budget reasons. Revisions are made here. The actors read it, and occasionally they’ll have notes which require revisions.

Then it gets shot. Then the footage is sent to post-production, who starts to edit it. In the edit, frequently we’ll learn that our episodes are several (maybe many) minutes over, and we’ll have to cut lines, jokes, moments, sometimes whole scenes for time.

Then those rough cuts get sent to the producers, the studio, the network for notes.

You get the idea yet? There are lots and LOTS of hands in the pie here. Hundreds, maybe a thousand. If a certain idea isn’t making it through from initial pitch to the final screen, it could be any one of the people along the way raising a red flag. Usually there’s no grand conspiracy – there’s too many people with competing interests for that. If you find that you’re less than satisfied with something on your screen, it could be for the devious reason you suspect or it could be for a completely benign reason like budget or schedule. There’s no one grand puppetmaster holding the strings, but there are lots of people making changes along the way.

tldr: There are too many companies and too many people for any kind of grand conspiracy, but that doesn’t mean that a bunch of people giving tiny notes couldn’t add up to something bigger.

m’gann m’orzz appreciation week: day 5 → favourite relationship

M’gann looks at Maggie. It’s the first time Maggie’s really had the chance to observe her so close outside the dim light of the bar, and she looks so terribly weary. “I’ve been fighting for more than three hundred years,” M’gann says. “Maybe…” She sighs, looking down at her lap again. “Maybe it’s about time I stopped.”

“M’gann…”

In a voice so quiet Maggie can barely hear her, she says, “I keep surviving and I don’t know why.”

Maggie sighs. She doesn’t get it, not really. She hadn’t run thousands of miles across the stars; she hadn’t watched millions of bodies burning. But she had endured her parents’ rejection, their betrayal. She had endured eighteen years in a town that despised everything that she was, and she had eventually got out; cracked but not broken, and strong, strong, strong enough to persevere even when the rest of the world wasn’t as perfect as she had envisioned it to be. Maggie had survived where not everyone in her same situation had. It hadn’t always been pretty, she hadn’t always been kind, but, somehow, she’s here still. And, despite everything, M’gann is too.
