Once Upon a Time Season 7: Gabrielle Anwar, Devious Maids Alum, Reign Star Among 5 New Additions

By Michael Ausiello / July 6 2017, 9:59 AM PDT

ABC is putting a face to Once Upon a Time‘s Season 7 reset. Five faces, actually.

TVLine has learned that the Friday-bound fantasy drama is adding nearly a half-dozen new female cast members, most notably Burn Notice alum Gabrielle Anwar, Devious Maids vet Dania Ramirez and ex-Reign royal Adelaide Kane. Also boarding the rejiggered seventh season: Chicago Med‘s Mekia Cox and English actress Rose Reynolds (Poldark).

Details on the role each actress will be playing will be announced at Comic-Con a later date, but here are five clues you can chew on in the meantime: TVLine can confirm that Anwar and Ramirez will be full-fledged series regulars, while Kane, Cox and Reynolds are set to recur (at least initially).

The new blood infusion comes as Once boldly heads into uncharted narrative territory, down six key cast members including Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Dallas, Emilie de Ravin, Jared Gilmore and Rebecca Mader. (Longtime Oncestars Lana Parrilla, Robert Carlyle and Colin O’Donoghue are staying put.)

As teed up in the Season 6 finale, Once Season 7 will revolve around a grown-up Henry (played by The Walking Dead‘s Andrew J. West) and his daughter Lucy (Jane the Virgin‘s Alison Fernandez). The official logline for the “reset” warns that “the residents of the Enchanted Forest face their greatest challenge yet” as Parrilla’s Evil Queen, O’Donoghue’s Captain Hook and Carlyle’s Rumplestiltskin join forces with Henry and Lucy “on an epic quest to once again bring hope to their world and ours. Along the way, fairy tale characters new and old search for true love, find adventure and once again take sides in the struggle of good against evil, as classic tales are once more twisted and reimagined.”

Once Upon a Time this fall shifts to Fridays at 8/7c; a premiere date has not yet been announced.

[che canzone d’amore sublime]

Bruci la città
e crolli il grattacielo
rimani tu da sola
nuda sul mio letto.

Bruci la città
o viva nel terrore
nel giro di due ore
svanisca tutto quanto
svanisca tutto il resto.

E tutte le ragazze come te
non hanno niente come te
ed io non posso che ammirare
non posso non gridare
che ti stringo sul mio cuore
per proteggerti dal male
che vorrei poter cullare
il tuo dolore il tuo dolore.

Muoia sotto un tram
più o meno tutto il mondo
esplodano le stelle
esploda tutto questo.
Muoia quello che è altro
da noi due
almeno per un poco
almeno per errore.

E tutte le ragazze come te
non hanno niente come te
ed io vorrei darmi da fare
forse essere migliore
farti scudo col mio cuore
da catastrofi e paure
io non ho niente da fare
questo e quello che so fare
Io non posso che adorare
non posso che leccare
questo tuo profondo amore
questo tuo profondo
non posso che adorare
questo tuo profondo.

gublergram: oh whoops! you caught me just being my normal self and punchin a punchin bag real hard with my hands while holding my mouth slightly open. this photo was not staged, just a total surprise which is why my mouth is slightly open (real). sometimes people (mom) forget how tough I am but just so you know, that bag was filled with chipped bricks, defective hammers, and rusty old pog slammers that probably had tetanus.  yup, you guessed it, I beat up the person that surprised me and took this photo. they look like a mashed potato with hair nowadays. I always beat people up. I beat up everybody in this picture.  i was so teed off i even gave that guy with his mouth slightly open (me) an atomic charlie horse and my leg went blue for 2 weeks straight.  now i have what looks like a withered smurf leg.

its nice to know that if i ever feel the need to have a good cry i just have to think about ‘cmon peter, cmon spider-man’ for minimum .7 seconds and all hell will break loose on my tear ducts

caddy shack

in face melting heat, jean and eren discuss many things of extreme importance while ogling their supervisor levi. ererijean. this is just self indulgent sillies

“You know what I like?” Eren asked.

“Suckin’ dick?” Jean teased, but his heart was only half in it, he was too busy fanning himself on the bench in the caddy shack. The oppressive heat had sap leaching out of the wooden boards giving the place a sickly sweet smell. It was only slightly better inside, in the shade, than out on the course.

“Yes, but also…” Eren struggled upright, which was difficult with Jean draped over him. “Watching Levi drive around in the carts.”

“Mm,” Jean agreed.

The humidity was so overwhelming, Eren’s hair was curling around the brim of his baseball cap, which was unfair Jean thought. And Jean’s eyes looked very honey colored in the bright light thought Eren as he stuck a blade of grass in Jean’s ear only to have him slap it away. Out in the distance, the groan of Levi’s golf cart drew nearer.

“The wind tousling his silken locks.”

“The sound of the shocks crying out in pain as he speeds over the hills,” Eren continued wistfully.

“He likes speed that one,” Jean said, putting his hat over his eyes.

“The grinding noise the cart makes because he has no idea how to use the clutch,” Eren said as they heard the telltale sound of their boss swearing at the cart.

“He doesn’t need it, the carts simply obey. All bend to his will. I’ve seen him break a nine iron over his knee.”

“The way he squeals to a halt in front of the caddy shack,” Eren sighed as Levi hit the curb with some vehemence.

“It’s like peals of laughter,” Jean chorused.

“The way he says—“

“What are you little cock gobblers doing?” Levi snapped, kicking the bottom of the bench where they were thrown across.

President Trump will loom over the U.S. Women’s Open golf championship this weekend in Bedminster, N.J., whether he’s there or not.

The tournament tees off Thursday at the Trump National Golf Club — despite the protests of women’s rights activists, who urged the organizers to move the event somewhere else.

Now the best female golfers in the world may share the stage with the president. Although Trump’s schedule has not yet been confirmed, tournament organizers have built a special glass-enclosed skybox overlooking the 16th tee so the president could watch the competition on what’s said to be one of his favorite courses.

“Your cadaverous pallor betrays an aura of foreboding. Almost as though you sense a disquieting metamorphosis.”

Mid Town Tattoo, Pico Blvd, 3pm 4/14/17: I’m here almost an hour early early, in part due to a desire to beat cross-town traffic, in part due to a simmering excitement and jittery nerves I’m just now admitting to myself.

I’ve had tattoo ideas in my head for years, but never had a reason (or the nerve?) to commit to one. My husband Jason’s recent *gorgeous* hare tattoo by the amazing Micah Perry brought all of those ideas back to the forefront of my mind.

Reviewing the astounding artistry and technique of Micah’s other work made me think more seriously about what I would want to get. However, he’s in high demand, usually booked months in advance all around the world. Then, as luck would have it, he had some last-minute slots available in LA this week, so that sealed the deal. I sent him my deposit and booked a spot.

And now I’m here, a bit nervous but mostly excited. I always enjoy when people have a story behind their tattoos, making them a permanent scrapbook. Similarly, the many design ideas I’d been mulling over are similarly scrapbook-y, depicting things and ideas that have influenced me deeply.

For my first tattoo, I decided on a childhood experience that informs my current career. Actually, now that I think about it, all of the tattoo ideas I have teed up in my head are, thematically, links between early childhood experiences and my evolving adult outlook on life, but this one was the most important, and the one I thought had a lot of potential, given Micah’s style.

When I was four, I rode the Haunted Mansion for the first time, and it both terrified and fascinated me. Wanting to understand all the illusions and effects that brought the Mansion to life, I later at age eight or nine inquired with my neighborhood librarian, who pointed me towards books about magic, theater design, stage illusions, and Walt Disney – and the rest is history. I was hooked.

Ultimately, I learned how all of the tricks worked in the mansion. I also discovered the unique story of how it developed from a walk-through spookhouse, to a Museum of the Weird, to eventually a unique combination of many ideas and styles from multiple famous Imagineers. In particular, I was drawn to the concept art of Rolly Crump, whose 1960s counter-culture style gave elements of the mansion a kooky, super weird vibe.

My earliest memory of that weirdness was when I rode the Mansion at four years old – and I discovered that the walls have eyes! At a distance, the Mansion’s iconic wallpaper looks like some sort of gothic Victorian flocked filigree – but upon close inspection, reveals Rolly’s myriad designs of sinister, odd faces peering back at you from the wallpaper’s repeated pattern.

My second memory of being weirded out as a kid was leaving the Mansion, hearing ghostly Little Leota tell us to “hurry back, and be sure to bring your death certificate.” You know, for kids!

But even though the Mansion creeped me out something fierce (were ghosts *really* going to follow me home??), I couldn’t wait to ride it again. And again. And again. By now, my rides on the Haunted Mansion perhaps number in the high hundreds or low thousands.

With each ride I discovered more details, and as I grew up, recognized more layered nuances of story and subtext. As a teenager, I finally understood the arch humor and darkly funny intent of the Mansion’s designs. As an adult – slowly facing and accepting my foolish mortality – I love how it inverts the usual haunted tropes by laughing at death rather than reeling from it.

So, I wanted a Haunted Mansion tattoo… but I didn’t want a “Disney tattoo”. Not that I haven’t seen many great Disney tattoos on Mansion fans, usually depictions of Leota, or the Hitchhiking Ghosts, or Doom Buggies, or even the the entire exterior of the Mansion itself. I love all of those elements, but none of those singular totems spoke to me as the reason *why* the Mansion has become such a constant in my life.

Then I realized: it was the *face*. That creepy, shrieking banshee face that hollered back at me from the Mansion’s wallpaper, all twisting hair and glowing eyes. I was hypnotized.

When I finally sat down with Micah, it took a good two hours of him sketching in sharpie on my arm, interpreting the reference photos from the Mansion that I’d given him. I didn’t want a copy – I wanted his floral and lyrical style. He sketched and wiped clean and re-sketched, and we’d talk and he’d revise again and again. I told him what I liked, he asked what I didn’t like. “More banshee, less skull; less occult, more gothic; less Potter Dark Mark, more funereal flower arrangement.”

Slowly, finally, the face organically appeared, the banshee’s hair growing out of overgrown vines and ferns, its arched eyes and shrieking mouth a wink towards Rolly’s style lurking deep within the foliage. Suddenly I heard the Mansion’s haunting organ theme echoing inside my head, alongside Paul Frees’ ghoulish voice calling me a “foolish mortal”.

Perfect. Let’s do this.
Trudeau’s Reward for Courting Trump Is a Trade War on Lumber
“It’s been a bad week for U.S.-Canada relations,” said Ross, a friend of both Mulroney and Freeland. “This is not our idea of a properly functioning free trade agreement.”

Justin Trudeau has always played nice with Donald Trump. The refugee-hugging liberal bit his tongue, flooded Washington with envoys, feted Ivanka Trump on Broadway and relentlessly talked up Canada-U.S. ties.

It hasn’t worked.

On Monday, Trump teed off a fresh trade war by slapping tariffs of up to 24 percent on Canadian softwood lumber as battles brew over the North American Free Trade Agreement and the dairy industry. After winning praise for his Trump strategy, with Angela Merkel and others pressing the Canadian prime minister for advice, Trudeau finds himself a target – or an example.

Have a lovely day!

Word Count: 3334

Description: He’s a small-time musician, performing a local gig with his bandmates, in the process of making it big.

She’s an aspiring dancer with an affinity for walking the streets of downtown after everyone in the citie’s gone to sleep.

Everyone, that is, but him.

The line of street lamps casting pools of iridescent golden light against the sidewalk was comforting in a way, somehow far more peaceful than the world appears during the daytime. I’m not sure why it is, really, that I prefer the night- I suppose it’s always been that way. There’s something so honest, and magical about a place, after the people, and the sun, and the noise have gone to sleep. Maybe it’s because my dance recitals and performances have always been in the evening, after the sun has faded from the sky. Maybe it’s the way the stars appear against a backdrop of jet black atmosphere, showing their true selves after a long day of being blocked out by the sun. Maybe there’s just something peaceful about a city at night- the quietude, the feeling that maybe, just maybe, you’re the only person left in the whole world. I think that thought scares most people, but it’s never bothered me. Maybe that’s why most people prefer the daytime- where it’s safe, and busy, and there are no stars to watch or ponder on what it must be like out there. For me, it’s never been a competition- I’d take a thousand nights if I could have it my way- to walk through a quiet town, and dance in deserted streets, and stop and stare at the sky for as long as I pleased, without a single soul watching me, wondering what I might be doing, staring at the sky. Because the truth is, I don’t really have a reason, some things are just beautiful- and it seems like an injustice to not appreciate beautiful things.

I stared down at the watch on my wrist. The time read: 10:24pm. I smiled softly to myself as I stepped out the front door of the quaint, two-story brick house, on the corner of Maple and 6th street- the house I’d lived my entire life in. Tying the laces on my black and white Adidas sneakers and zipping my mint green jogger’s jacket halfway up, I took a deep breath, and began to walk. Downtown was only a few blocks from the house, and though it was a big metropolis, we had a variety of things to make our small city appreciable by most everyone. There was, of course, a handful of shops through Main Street, The Grant Hill movie theater, the Institute of Art and Dance (where I spent the majority of my time, other than school), Acorn Park (adorable; squirrel filled), Metro Park (not-so adorable; trash filled) a small B&B, and The Randolph House (the place where comedy acts, local play productions, and small-time musicians would perform. As I neared the center of town, I could hear elated cheers and screaming come from a couple blocks down, clearly creating a far greater cacophony of adolescent hysteria than I had anticipated for this hour of the evening. I sighed, running a hand through my obsidian colored hair as I made a hard-right turn, making my way down a side street that avoided the bustle that was congregating around The Randolph House. “There must be some up-and-coming musician playing there if it’s causing this much of a scene” I thought to myself as I stuffed my hands in my pockets, moving swiftly so as not to be held up by late night traffic. I crossed the street that teed with Main Street, glancing over my shoulder slightly, just enough to catch a glimpse of a crowd of girls probably around my age, flooding the streets and waving their arms uproariously as a handful of figures, five maybe, waved and smiled, before being hustled into a car. I thought, for a split second, that I caught the eyes of one of the distant figures, but it was dark out, and I could have been mistaken. I shook my head as the car headed down the road, only driving a couple blocks before turning down the road that lead towards the town B&B. So they were staying the night? I shrugged softly to myself, side-stepping out of the way of the teenage girl mob as I made my way down a side street, and finally out of sight from the overenthusiastic crowd.

I bought this issue of ALL-STAR COMICS at my usual 7-11. It wasn’t a surprising purchase as I was in the tank for the Justice Society by this point, and so ALL-STAR was a favorite of mine. But boy, that collection of logos at the top of this cover isn’t doing the art any favors. Artist Rich Buckler’s composition is a bit crowded and stiff as well, although inker Wally Wood gives it his typical pristine sheen.

Like the other “Conway’s Corner” titles, ALL-STAR was in something of a transition now that editor Gerry Conway had left to return to Marvel (a return that would be short-lived; his tenure as Editor in Chief lasted a mere three weeks before he quit.) A young Paul Levitz had taken over writing the series and was beginning to skew it more towards his own interests, aided by a penciler with whom he’d work often over the decades, Keith Giffen.

Like Paul seemed to be, I was much more interested in the Injustice Gang than I was the threat of Lovecraftian sorcerer Zanadu, so I welcomed the fact that the story opened up with an extended sequence in which the Fiddler and Solomon Grundy mesmerize Wildcat and cause him to attack Hawkman. Ted Grant stops short of killing the winged wonder before coming to his senses, but even his pugilistic skills are no match for Grundy’s inhuman might. Fortunately, Superman and Power Girl have escaped from the dangers Zanadu had left them in, and arrive in plenty of time to give Wildcat aid. They promptly toss Grundy into a nearby volcano.

But while all of that was going on, Zanadu has made his escape, still holding Shiera Hall as his prisoner. Hawkman is teed off about the team’s failure, but they take up pursuit once more. Meanwhile, Green Lantern and the Flash have gone in search of a way to save the life of Doctor Fate, responding to a mystic symbol the comatose sorcerer had manifested. In Egypt, they’re brought up short by the shadow of a winged horse…but that’s all we’re going to hear about that for this issue.

Meanwhile, in Gotham City, the Star-Spangled Kid’s efforts to keep Fate alive using the power of Starman’s Cosmic Rod have reached their limit–and Kent Nelson expires, despite the best efforts of a despondent Dr. Mid-Nite. Hourman tries to console his friend, but McNider will have none of it. But there’s no time for introspection as Zanadu appears in the skies over Gotham, and the Kid and Hourman soar out to meet his challenge, engaging him in the air.

But there’s not much either the Star-Spangled Kid or Hourman can do to slow Zanadu down. Confident in his power, the Sorcerer plans to lay waste to the city, and as his sorcerous energies reach a crescendo, everybody in Gotham can feel a mystic dread. Everyone including the recently-deceased Doctor Fate, who rises from his deathbed in response to this menace.

The restored Fate promptly seals Zanadu once more in amber, and the crisis is averted and Shiera is rescued. And in the epilogue, Superman nominates Power Girl for full membership in the Society as his replacement. But elsewhere, the shadowy Injustice Gang plots its next moves, and it’s leader the Icicle targets who he thinks the JSA’s weak link is–Hourman. All in all, this was a fun outing, a little bit less Marvel-influenced than previous installments had been thanks to the change in editor and writer.

unforgettable confederations: June 22, 2013

The game looked set to be goalless at the break but the deadlock was finally broken in first-half stoppage time, defender Dante pouncing from close range after Fred’s header had been brilliantly parried by Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon. Giaccherini, teed up by Mario Balotelli, rounded off a swift counter-attack to get Italy back on level terms within six minutes of the restart. Parity lasted less than four minutes, however, before Neymar placed a fine free-kick into the top corner, leaving Buffon stranded. Fluminense forward Fred then extended Brazil’s lead with a neat finish into the top-left corner from Marcelo’s pass midway through the second period. Chiellini gave Italy hope of a comeback when he converted Alberto Aquilani’s assist five minutes later, and they were within a whisker of making it 3-3 10 minutes from time when Cristian Maggio’s header smashed against the bar. But the equaliser was not forthcoming and Fred restored the 2014 World Cup hosts’ two-goal cushion in the 88'th minute with another close-range strike after Buffon had denied Marcelo. | (insp)

Trump Will Issue An Executive Order To Protect Churches Involved In Political Activities
A senior White House official said the order will address tax enforcement for churches and contraception mandates under Obamacare — not exemptions that allow LGBT discrimination, as many expected.
By Dominic Holden

The Trump administration on Wednesday night said it would issue an executive order the next day to expand religious freedom, fulfilling a promise to social conservatives who coalesced around Donald Trump during the campaign even though he fell short of saintliness himself.

The order will direct the IRS to give the maximum discretion possible when enforcing a 1954 law designed to ban tax-exempt organizations, like churches, from engaging in certain political activity, a senior White House official said on a conference call with reporters.

The official added that the order will also provide so-called regulatory relief for religious organizations that are required under the Affordable Healthcare Act to provide contraception coverage to employees.

Trump is expected to sign the order when a bevy of religious figures visit the White House on Thursday for the National Day of Prayer.

However, the scope of the order described by the official — if signed in the condition described — would fall short of what many religious conservatives had hoped for.

Many speculated on the left and right that the order would offer protections for people and corporations with a religious objection to LGBT people and women’s reproductive choices, far more hot button issues. The White House official said there were not plans for a separate order that addressed LGBT issues.

Speculation about what the order will say is based largely off a draft version circulated this past winter. According to the leaked preliminary text, the order would block the federal government from retaliating against those who act — or refuse to act — based on their religious objections to same-sex marriage, transgender people, abortion, contraception, and sex outside marriage.

Still, the White House hasn’t released text of the final order — and several congressional offices from both sides of the aisle, conservative organizations, and liberal groups all indicated they did not have knowledge of the order’s actual contents.

The announcement of the forthcoming order comes after several humiliating setbacks for Trump during his first 100 days: His travel bans were blocked by courts, his attempt to defund sanctuary cities was halted by a federal judge, and his pledge to repeal Obamacare has so far faltered in Congress. But while those issues have been popular topics for Trump’s white, working-class base, Trump has given comparatively little attention to conservative religious wedge issues. As the administration tries to find firm footing, a religious executive order may throw those constituents a bone.

Earlier this year, Trump had vowed to “get rid of and totally destroy the Johnson Amendment,” a law that prohibits tax-exempt, charitable non-profit organizations from endorsing or opposing in political races. Among other groups, the law applies to churches and other religious groups classified by the IRS as a 501©(3) — though the thinking has gone that Congress would need to repeal the law.

The White House official on Wednesday night said the order will give the IRS maximum enforcement discretion when enforcing the Johnson Amendment.

As for offering regulatory relief in terms of enforcing Obamacare contraception coverage mandates, the official said the order did not specify what the relief would be.

Nevertheless, civil rights groups were prepared on Wednesday for something far broader, and they had teed up challenges the order if it reflected the drafts they saw in January and February concerning LGBT people and women.

Lambda Legal and the American Civil Liberties Union told BuzzFeed News on Tuesday they were prepared to file separate lawsuits if the president signs an order that targets LGBT people for discrimination. They worried it would violate the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment by preferring certain relious beliefs over others, and that it may conflict with Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment by singling out certain groups of people for poor treatment.

Religious conservatives, however, were eager for a sweeping order on Wednesday, including Gregory Baylor of the Alliance Defending Freedom.

“Something like this executive order is exactly what we need,” he told BuzzFeed News in a phone call. “We believe there is a burgeoning problem of impositions on religious freedom, especially on hot-button culture-war issues that have to do with sanctity of life and sexuality.”
