“You have nothing to worry about”, you heard your dad assure
your mom in the next room.
You’re definitely not one to eavesdrop but the word ‘worry’
caught your attention. What’s there to worry? You thought everything was going
well. The other night, Cheryl told you that Jason was actually well and alive.
She told you about their secret plan since she saw how devastated you were over
your brother’s disappearance. So what were your parents discussing about?
“But Clifford, 6 missed calls and dead threats from the
Hawks?”, you heard your mom sigh,
“Please tell me you’ll take care of it.”
You moved closer to the door to fulfil your curiosity and find out what predicament came
up this time.
“(Y/N)”, you heard your father’s tough voice. “Is that you?”
Caught red-handed, you enter the room and show yourself up.
You avoid their gaze in fear of what they may say of you eavesdropping.
“Were you eavesdropping?”, your Mother asked sternly.
Even though she’s your mother, her voice and aura always
ignited a fear in you, so much so, sometimes you wished she was like other mothers- more affectionate, loving and caring.
“I was just..”, you murmur. “It’s okay”, your father’s kind eyes
met yours, “It’s okay, sweetheart. It’s late, you should be in bed”.
You nod and make your way out, until your anxiety gets the
best of you- it urges you pause. “Dad?”, you turn towards your father.
“Is everything okay?”, you ask.
He gave a half-hearted smile. “Nothing you have to worry
about, my dear”.
Relieved, you smile in response. “Goodnight dad. Goodnight
Unlike your mom, your dad has always been soft towards you.
I know people always stereotype the Blossom head to be this powerful, flinty old
man but father was never like that towards you. Sure, he’d had his ways with
Cheryl and Jason but he always had a soft spot for you.
As you proceed towards your room, you notice Cheryl’s
door being half-opened. “Cheryl?”
You see her lying on the bedroom floor, bawling her eyes
“Cheryl?” you immediately hug her tight,” Is everything
She doesn’t say anything in response, instead she just cries
uncontrollably. As worried and scared as you are, thinking about all the
horrible incidents that might have taken place, you decide to respect her
silence. She’ll come around. She always does.
“It’s okay. It’s okay. Everything will be okay” you assure
her and slowly lay her to her bed.
“I want to be alone”, Cheryl says through her tears.
“Are you sure?”
She nods and wipes a tear, “I’ll be fine, I promise”
You’re wide awake on your bed, fighting all the horrible
thoughts. Being a Blossom, predicaments, loss, heartbreak, were as natural as
their red hair. You’ve seen too many deaths in the household to lie in bed with
the assurance that you will see your parents the following day.
Your case of anxiety grew worse due to your family affairs.
You suddenly heard your phone vibrate from underneath your
“You missed my recital today”, he angrily says over the
“Your recital..,” you suddenly remember that you promised to
attend Jughead’s poetry recital earlier today in school but you had a panic
attack after seeing so many police officers in the principal’s office and you
“I’m so sorry, Juggie. You know me, my anxiety always gets
the best of me. And with Jason missing..”.
“I understand, babe,” he cuts you off. “I got through to the
finals, by the way. It’s tomorrow. Don’t you dare miss it this time!”
“Aw, that’s so nice! Congrats, Juggie. I love you!,” you
squeak through the phone. No matter what mess you were in, when you were with
Jughead, everything in the world seemed okay He was your safe haven. He was
your happy place.
“Give me a kiss, I didn’t see you the entire day,” he
“What if I don’t?,” you tease.
“Then you will hear a knock on your window twenty minutes
from now, followed by a number of Blossom security trying to tase me”
You chuckle. “Mwah! I love you. I’m so proud of you. I’ll
see you at the recital tomorrow, okay?”
“Goodnight, B. Love you,” he hangs up the phone.
Jughead Jones the third.
What would you do without him?
You woke up feeling way better than the other night. You
have to attend Jughead’s recital today, you already missed it the other day
knowing how much it meant to him. Thank God, he forgave you. You wouldn’t miss
this one for the world!
You immediately got dressed and made your way for breakfast.
While passing Cheryl’s room, you were reminded of the incident from the other
night. Worried, you enter her room. “Cheryl?”
But her room was empty. The bed was well-made but empty!
“Cheryl? Are you in here?,” you check her bathroom too- but there
was no sight of her.
You hurry downstairs towards the dinning hall where your
family always gather for breakfast at this hour sharp.
“Mom? Dad? Have you seen-“
Your mom and dad stood near the chair where Cheryl was
seated, your mom comforting Cheryl. She was still sobbing. Your parents shifted
their eyes to you with a sad and apologetic look.
“What’s wrong? Did something happen?”, you’re very worried
now. This isn’t something you’ve seen before.
“(Y/N)..,” your dad walk towards you. “It’s about Jason”
He gives you a warm tight hug, “He’s dead”.
It has been one and half hour since the recital ended.
Jughead has been waiting for you in the parking lot ever since. He’s aggravated
and angry that you missed his recital again. After some time, he spots you running towards him.
“I’m so sorry, Juggie. I-“. He cuts you off, “ What the
hell, (y/n)? How could you miss it again? I know poetry isn’t your thing but
you know how much it means to me!!”
You try to calm him down but it’s apparent he’s very pissed.
You cup his face. “Juggie, I know. Trust me, I wouldn’t have
missed it if it weren’t-“. Tears form in your eyes as you recollect what
happened today at the breakfast table- how you learned of your best
friend/brother Jason’s death.
He brushes your hand from his face angrily, “Yeah? If it
weren’t for what?” He pulls himself away from you, “I know you have your
anxiety and all that but you’ve done this way too many times for me to be okay
with it anymore. The world doesn’t revolve around you, you know?”
You can’t believe he just snapped at your worst insecurity,
knowing how sensitive you were about it.
“Juggie..,” you whimper, still holding back your tears.
“You know what, (y/n)?,”
he breathes heavily. “I think we need a break.”
A break. A break. You knew way too damn well what ‘a break’
It wasn’t a day off or two. He was breaking up with you.
Jason was gone. And now, even Jughead decided you weren’t
worth it. You decide not to mention about Jason.
With tears in your eyes, you slowly murmur, “ I’m sorry. I love you.”, before running away from the scene and into your car, with only
thing in mind to end your misery once and for all.
10 minutes after you left, Jughead still stood there at the
parking lot contemplating what had just happened. Did he do the right thing for
himself by calling it off, or did he just lose the love of his life?
His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of Archie, Betty
and Veronica running towards him. “Jughead!” Archie called out.
Jughead turned around to find all of them panting. “ What’s
wrong?”, he asked.
“It’s about (y/n),” Betty said, still breathing heavily.
Jughead’s facial expression changed. “ What about her?”
“Jason..”, Archie put an arm around Jughead,” Jason is
You stood there at the edge of the Sweetwater river, numb as
There was no reason to live anymore.
Jason was dead.
Cheryl told you that Dad may be responsible for it.
Jughead broke up with you.
It was like all your happiness being slapped right at your
There was nothing left to live for anymore.
Even if you lived, your anxiety would always be at war with
you and the only person who could make it all go away walked out on you too.
You take a deep breath and walk towards the frozen river
hoping that death will welcome you slowly.
“(Y/N)!!!” you heard a familiar voice scream from the other
side. It was Jughead.
You couldn’t even see his face properly before the water
enveloped you and you sunk in.
Jughead and Archie ran towards you without a care in the
world what may happen to them. “(y/n)!(y/n)! No, no,no,no,” Jughead whimpered as
he tried to break the ice caps with his bare hands. So did Archie. Their hands
were bleeding profusely by the time they managed to break one and
pull you out of the water.
Jughead quickly carried you and ran towards the river bank.
He pumped your chest, tried mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, allowed water to
drain from your mouth- basically everything to revive you.
“Baby, no. Please. Please. Please. Please”, his voice
cracked as he helplessly tried to bring you back to life
You began coughing. “(Y/n)!!!”, Jughead cupped your face.
“Juggie..”, your weak voice followed.
“I’m so sorry, (Y/N). I didn’t know. You tried to tell me
but I was a jerk. I’m so sorry. I love you. I love you” , tears filled
Jughead’s eyes as he held you tight.
“I don’t ever wanna lose you. I don’t ever wanna lose you. Please tell me you’re still mine. Fuck no, I can’t lose you.
Ever.” He whispered into your ears, still holding you tight.
“You won’t.”, you weakly respond with a small smile, still
weak and unconscious of what was happening around you.
Placing his beanie onto your head, he swiftly says, “Let’s get her out
