I watch a lot of documentaries. I think they are incredible tools for learning and increasing our awareness of important issues. The power of an interesting documentary is that it can open our minds to new possibilities and deepen our understanding of the world.
On this list of mind expanding documentaries you will find different viewpoints, controversial opinions and even contradictory ideas. Critical thinking is recommended. I’m not a big fan of conspiracy documentaries but I do like films that challenge consensus reality and provoke us to question the everyday ideas, opinions and practices we usually take for granted.
Watching documentaries is one of my favorite methods of self-education. If I find a documentary inspiring, I usually spend more time researching the different ideas and interesting people interviewed in the film. I hope you find these documentaries as enlightening as I did!

care este partea bună, Red Hood?
Însă ea este copleșită de sentimentele de

Băiatul mimează râsul și își ridică ușor brațul

Tu nu te gândești la sentimentele mele? întreabă el râzând. Tu cum te-ai simți

Some time in December, 2011 I went snowboarding w a friend at Mountain High Resort. We met with a couple of friends and hung out until it closed. After it closed we all hung out in Wrightwood just talking about stuff for a few hours before we decided to leave. We ended up heading back home at 2 am almost 3. On our way back home we were driving really slow because one, my friend and I both get car sick and two my friend can’t see that well at night. So as we’re driving back things just started to get really eerie. Heading back to town we have to take this highway called the 138, that I’ve had multiple really fucked up experiences on(not then, but after this experience). We then started to feel like there was a car following us but it was also driving really slow so we didn’t think much of it. We could see their headlight a ways behind us but it didn’t seem like it was getting closer at all. So I told my friend to stop driving to see if this car would get closer and it didn’t, but once we started driving again it started as well. At this point my friend and I are scared because that area is in the middle of no where and we have this weird car following us. Once we made it out of the windy mountain part of the 138 it’s pretty much just a straight away from there. The car that was following up stopped, turned it’s lights off and pulled over so that was a big relief. Probably like 10 minutes after that there was a van on the side of the road and once we pasted it it turned it’s lights on and started driving, but this time the car was driving really fast. So I told my friend to slow down so it can pass us, but it just stayed behind us. I told him to speed up and it sped up with us, so at that point we were going 110 and this van was right behind up still. We ended up going like 130 then the van finally started to slow down, finally it came to a complete stop exactly like the car that was following up earlier. Both cars turned their blinkers, pulled over then turned off their lights. My friend and I were panicking because we didn’t really understand what was going or what these cars were doing. It felt like they were forming so sort of trap so we wanted to pull over but at the same time we thought that’d easily be a bad idea, so we just continued to drive and tried not to think about it. Another 10 to 15 minutes later we see another parked car turn it’s lights on and start driving, it’s just this time it’s in front of us. So as we get closer we noticed it was a van and looked exactly like the van that was behind us earlier. It didn’t have a license plate so we were terrified as to who was in this van and what they wanted with us. We passed the van and a few minutes after we passed the van it turned it’s blinker on, pulled over and turned off it’s lights. After that the next 20-30minutes were fine, my friend and I just talking about how wild that all was and that we needed to get gas once we got back in town. We are now 10 to 15 minutes away and in a few miles we would be getting off the 138 highway. As I was turning to tell my friend that we made back to town I woke up. I was so relieved that it was just a dream so I went lied down on the bed with my mom and right as I got into my mom’s room my mom asked me how Mountain high was last night. I instantly got covered in chills and my mood dropped. I told my mom if she remembered me getting home last night or if she heard me come home last night and she said that she was asleep. SOOOO I was like okay well my friend has to know then, I called my friend and asked him and he said he had the same dream. He went and checked his car and said his gas light was still on, which means however we got home wasn’t from his car.
So whatever happened that night happened and it just makes me sick to my stomach that there really isn’t anything that can explain that. It just doesn’t make sense. So there’s my story on how I think I might have been abducted.
I am Alex Rider. I am fourteen years old. I am the youngest and best secret agent MI6 has ever had. I’ve been trained to be a spy since before I could walk. I once jumped out of a fifteen story window because I was curious. I snowboarded down a mountain on an ironing board, then went back up it to blow up a helicopter with a snowmobile. I surfed the Cribber whilst being chased by assassins from the Big Circle. I hurled myself off a jetty on a skateboard in order to get onto a boat that I then set fire to. I’ve killed a man with an electromagnet. I snuck onto the private yacht of Yassen Gregorovich and held a gun to his head, then walked away alive. I defeated five assassins on motorbikes whilst on a bicycle by blowing up a hot dog stand and throwing myself across the gap in an opening bridge. I survived a live version of Gameslayer, Feathered Serpent. I BASE jmped off a cliff to break into a secure compound funded by Scorpia. I defeated one of Scorpia’s best assassins on a hot air ballon. I got shot in the chest and fought off would-be kidnappers before I was even released from hospital, then tightrope walked from a burning building. I kite-surfed from Flamingo Bay to Barbadoes. I went into space and took out an assassin whilst in zero gravity. I canoed through rapids and over a waterfall in a makeshit canoe. I’ve faced a Portuguese-man-o’-war, a great white shark, a bull, a boa constrictor and a tiger.
B/N has seen his fans do many things, and it wasn’t unusual for them to dance for him. But this one caught his attention, probably because he was stuck in traffic and besides the back of people’s cars, looking at this girl seemed more entertaining.
He hadn’t expected her to see him in the car, but the sun happened to shine at that perfect moment and he didn’t have a screen to block the view. She had already seen him and he tried to avoid eye contact until one of his members decided to roll down the window.
Now everyone was fighting to roll it up and down. As B/N tried to push them from his lap, he realized that she was laughing at them. What would happen if he rolled down his window? Would she recognize him? He knew he had foreign fans, but not everyone was interested in the music industry in his country. Still, he’d mess around. Staying in traffic was boring him.
He rolled the window down some, catching her attention. Only his eyes and up were showing. But by the recognition in her expression and hand on her chest, he knew she was more than just a tourist.
He rolls it down some more, his members yelling for him not to. His driver moves up and B/N watches her, her eyes on his. That’s until her friend recognizes him too and he freaks out, retreating into the car and waiting for the screams to sound.
“You’re so stupid,” one of his members say to him. He lets the insult slide because they’re very much right. He is stupid. Just because she was a foreigner meant nothing. Any fan would be excited to meet their favorite artist.
He looks back, expecting to see more people gathered. Instead, he sees her chastising her friend, her hand over her mouth. That’s new. She then starts walking beside his car, slowly with her hands behind her back. She leans against a pole, casually glancing at his car.
He’s watching her, everyone is, waiting to see what she’ll do next. He can’t escape this traffic if people recognized him. He presses himself into the seat, looking at her through the corner of his eye.
She says something but he can’t read her lips well. Then she says another word and he understands. She’s sorry, her eyes downcast when he makes no move to do anything.
“Just forget about it,” he leans his head back, wondering if she’ll walk away or follow him. He gets his answer from his members slapping at him to look out the window. She blows a kiss to him, the look of embarrassment clear on her face.
He laughs to himself as he watches her dance for him. Tossing out little hearts here and there. He knows other people in their cars are watching, but she continues until she covers her face. He’s about to roll down his window when his car starts to move again.
“Quick do something!”
Everyone is fumbling to roll down his window and he sticks his hand out, using two fingers to form a heart. It’s the least he can do for her performance. Her face lights up as she returns the gesture.
“She must really be a fan to do that,”
A week goes by since that incident and all you can do is keep replaying the laughter in his eyes, glad that you contributed to his momentary happiness at the expense of your embarrassment.
You’re hiking with a group in Deogyusan Mountain National Park, Kara lagging behind.
“Keep up or get left behind,” you tell her, but you stop beside her anyway, the rest of the group continuing up the hill. She’s dragging her skis, breathing hard, “We’re almost to the top, come on,”
You’re holding your snowboard under your arm, tired as well.
“What’s the point in going up if we’ll just go down and come back up again?”
You ignore her, helping her up. You can hear people screaming and laughing, the air is empty, yet cold. Once you reach the top, you see dozens of people zooming by. Some daring enough to have people on their backs.
“Ready?” you ask her once she sets herself up, feet strapped.
She pulls her goggles down, “No!”
“Well hurry up,” She sighs, shaking her shoulders, “Remember, just go with it. You’ve done this before,”
“That was years ago!”
You shrug, “It’s like riding a bike, you don’t really forget,”
“I don’t know how to ride a bike either,”
With another puffy sigh, she pushes herself off, sliding down. You watch her carefully, hoping no one gets in her way. She makes through the heavy throng of people and you cheer for her as she waits for you at the bottom. She’s waving for you to come down when someone slam into her, both of them rolling.
You push off towards her in a rush, hoping you won’t get into an accident yourself. You fight your way out of the straps on your board, seeing her and the other rider laying in the snow. Others have come to inspect the damage.
“Kara!” you call, stomping your way to her. The rider is up and holding his neck. He instantly notices Kara and tries to wake her. You don’t know the first thing on first aid, but apparently he does. He’s checking if anything is broken.
You’re holding her hand, already regretting making her do this. Her eyes flutter open then, looking at the faces around her and you release a sigh of relief. That’s until her eyes widen and she passes out again. Now you’re really worried.
You slap her cheek when you hear someone say, “Sorry,” You turn to him and can understand why Kara passed out again. You feel lightheaded yourself, “I didn’t mean to run into her,”
You can’t even find the words to speak with B/N being so close to you, “You’re the girl who danced for me, right?”
You nod, not wanting to bring that incident up, “Thanks for knocking my friend out. Twice,” Medics come and it’s a good thing a clinic is nearby, clearly these things happen a lot.
You follow them, B/N joining you because the medics tell him to get checked out too. Nothing is wrong with him except for a strained neck and faint bruises. Kara has similar issues, she’s just in a state of shock.
You wait for her to wake up, sitting in her room. B/N comes in, rubbing his neck. You cross your legs, righting your posture. Your board is next to you, and you inspect it for damage, something to focus us. It’s not everyday you get to meet your favorite person, much less twice in a row.
He sits beside you, your board between you both. Nothing but silence.
“You dance well,” he says looking at you and you close your eyes because you never planned on seeing him again for him to comment on it.
“Spur of the moment of thing, won’t happen again,”
“It was cute. My members liked it too,”
“Glad you guys liked it,” your tone is too sarcastic and the last thing you needed was for him to get uncomfortable and leave. You might not get a tiny heart like the last time in farewell, “I’m Y/N,” you say quickly.
You hold out your ungloved hand and he takes it with a smile, “B/N, although I think you already know that,”
You nod, “How did you end up crashing into Kara?”
“Lost control of my board. Forgot know how to stop,” Stopping is one of the first things you learn in almost anything, how can one forget?
“I can…teach you?”
“I mean, if you have to leave then that’s fine,”
He shakes his head, “Now is okay. But my neck is getting sore,”
“Oh then, never mind. Rest,”
“It’ll be sore if I rest too,” You must look confused. He smiles, “You can teach me now,”
You move beside Kara as B/N gets his board. She wakes up a bit, “I’m going out for a bit. The doctors said you should rest and come out when you’re not too dizzy,”
She spots B/N, but doesn’t pass out again, “Sorry I ran into you,” he tells her.
“No, thank you,” you mentally slap yourself and her. B/N simply laughs, heading out the door.
Once he leaves, Kara jolts up, “Was he about to kiss me? Like that CPR type of kiss?”
“No, the occasion didn’t require it,”
She falls on her pillow, “Damn it,”
You chuckle, “Rest up, I’ll be back. Going to teach him how to not run into people,” she looks disappointed and you hope she isn’t jealous, “Are you upset?”
She shakes her head, “I wish another member was here, but B/N will do,”
“Then why did you faint?”
She gives you a stupid look, “He’s my bias, not my ultimate bias,”
You stare at her, “Yeah, okay,” you pat her shoulder before joining B/N, still unable to believe he’s even here.
Got the idea of snowboarding from seeing a picture of Yugyeom…snowboarding
Michael has a cousin in Denver and he told a story about how he tried snowboarding and sucked so he doesn’t want to do it again.
They were asked what do they name their instruments. Calum: Nashville; Luke: calls them by collor. Ashton: Zeus; Michael: some japanese name.
Funniest thing they’ve done in Denver: Michael broke his tailbone skiing a few years ago; Luke likes the artistic stuff, pianos and 16th street; Calum didn’t do anything; Ashto ate weed chocolate.
What they do for inspiration: Michael reads writing prompts and looks in “weird corners of the internet”. Ashton: touring is hard and not inspiring.
Things they miss about Australia: Michael: Being comfortable with his surrounding. Calum: He’s content where he’s at. Luke: being able to speak with his Australian accent. Ashton: same as Calum because he likes traveling.
Michael said he spends a lot of time on Reddit and he talked about soul mate AU.
Calum described Ashton as “dedicated” and Luke as chair.
Luke described Calum as “dope”.
Ashton described Michael as “running” because he likes verbs more and Luke as “jumping”.
