Love’s Truest Language by summerwine

The first part was meant as a joke. He didn’t really expect Harry to buy anything. It was just Louis’ way of softening the ‘get the fuck out’ blow.

“Where’s your order forms, then?”

“I don’t want your flowers.” Louis chided before directing all of his attention to the arrangement in front of him.

Harry laughed under his breath as he stood to his full height, “Who said anything about them being for you, love?”

rivers ‘til i reach you by embodied

Louis can’t begin to understand how he’s always this close and still can’t manage to make Harry his. He stands up and gets another beer.

AU. Louis studies astronomy; Harry studies Louis. They spend their summers on the water and it shouldn’t be complicated (spoiler: it is).

you drive me wild (you know you do) by missandrogyny

Their management informs them that they have an interview right before the ARIAs, and it isn’t until he’s in a suit, seated on a couch between Liam and Zayn, that he gets the idea.

The interviewer, Angus, smiles at them, right before the cameras roll on, and a metaphorical light bulb goes off inside Louis’ head. He’s perfect. Well, not as perfect as Harry, but enough. He’s attractive, attractive enough to drive Harry crazy, and he doesn’t even think of the consequences of his actions, just decides right then. It’s all Harry’s fault anyway. Louis should be allowed to have a little fun.

(or: Louis flirts with the Australian interviewers and Harry gets possessive.)

My English Love Affair by isthatyoularry

The thing about sleeping with a member of a famous indie band is that the inevitability of having a song written about you is most likely a hundred percent. The second thing is that in the end, nobody’s supposed to find out it’s about you.

The one where Harry writes a song about his English love affair and Louis sleeps with someone in White Eskimo and all he gets is a stupid song written about him.

give me things to stay awake by embodied

It’s shitty and it’s counterproductive and it’s self-indulgent, but he lets it become a thing. On Saturday nights Harry goes out and gets so pissed he can’t stand, and when the bartender cuts him off he rings Louis and is in his car within an hour. It’s not a cycle he’s proud of, but it’s also something he can’t resist, and he keeps doing it as long as Louis keeps showing up.

AU. It’s been a year since Louis broke up with Harry.

Is This Seat Taken? by Lainy122

A borrowed suit from Zayn, a cigarette and the right attitude, and Louis went from security breach to misplaced celebrity instantly. He could practically see the wheels in the security guy’s head switch from ‘could be dangerous’ to ‘could get me fired’.

L.A was so predictable.

Louis makes a bet with Zayn that he can sneak into a music awards event without getting caught, and when he ends up posing as a seat-filling member of staff he runs into superstar Harry Styles and sparks fly. Que the music.

If the Stars Align - Chapter II

The first event of the Parisian season is a glittering dance held in one of the Louvre’s magnificent ballrooms. The already luxurious ballroom is even more decorated tonight, with stark white tablecloths, embroidered in gold, and glittering glass sculptures as centrepieces on every table. Solid silver goblets are filled to the brim with wine and champagne, crystal serving-trays piled high with every kind of appetizer imaginable.

It’s the first real ball Killian has attended, and the extravagance is breathtaking.

This ball is held every year to welcome the queen back to Paris for the summer and is the first time in many months that all of the nobility are back together. Since Emma started taking her winter retreats a decade ago, it has become the fashion for the rich ladies of France to disappear for the cold months, only returning to the capital when the first signs of spring appear. Now, with all of them back together in time for the Parisian season, the excitement of everyone’s return to the capital is palpable in the animated chatter and laughs filling the ballroom.

The Musketeers are milling around, taking stock of exits, entrances, and the attendees. Killian’s watching them too, though his assignment is to guard the west doors to the ballroom until the royal family arrives, lest something happen or someone rushes at them as they enter.

Falling Stars and Mary Magdalene

Growing up in a Roman Catholic family, I did everything I could post-catechism to push away religious learning.  Funnily enough, here I am pouring over the bible to write a comparison analysis.

Today we’re going to take a look into Ashara Dayne, the fair Lady who threw herself from the Palestone Sword tower in Starfall of Dorne.  The blessed Ashara Dayne- desirous of sovereign contemplation.

This is going to be looked at pre resurrection, analyzing solely Mary of Magdalene and not her relation to Jesus, but her caricature.  While there are many, many, many Ashara Dayne theories out there- and booooy, do I believe in a couple crazy ones- I am writing solely based on what we ‘know’ to be true *which, as I’ll go into, isn’t much!*.

“She turned the mass of her crimes to virtues, in order to serve God entirely in penance. “

A/N: So this fic is very near and dear to my heart because it is the birthday fic for @steven-fightme-rogers ! She is the butter on my bread and the sweet sweet cinnamon roll that keeps me going. Meeting you and becoming your friend was the ultimate blessing from the universe and I don’t think you understand just how much you mean to me. Happy birthday, dollface, I dedicate this to you and the 18 years you’ve given us:)

It was five years since you saw any of them. Tony. Natasha. Clint. Bruce. You hadn’t even said their names in the time you were gone. Especially not Steve’s. Pretending that part of your life never happened was the easiest thing for you. It’s not like you didn’t have enough things in your life to keep your mind from replaying those memories. Nothing in your new life allowed for you to stop and contemplate what could have been. Even so, late at night when everything was quiet their faces still found their way into your dreams where the memories played in great detail. Not even the rain beating against your window could drown out the memories. Tonight’s feature just so happened to be the first time you ever met Steve.

Engaged - Part 1

Woah I wrote a ladybug fic. Also HERE on fanfiction and HERE on ao3

Characters kinda OOC but only because it’s 10 years in the future and they have experienced character growth ok. I’m a sucker for Established Relationship Adrinette and no one can stop me.

BREAKING NEWS.

Wedding bells are in the air for two Paris stars!

After months of rumors, unconfirmed sources, and sneaking around, it’s finally official—Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien Agreste are engaged!

The model son of fashion icon Gabriel Agreste, 25, and the designer mogul, 26, have sealed their relationship of seven years with a ring, according to exclusive photos posted by La Vie last Thursday. Cheng was spotted with an estimated 3 carat cushion-cut diamond on her left hand, and boy, all we have to say is this: ABOUT TIME!

The pair started dating following Cheng’s entrance as an intern in 2018 to Jolie magazine, where Agreste was frequently featured. The amateur designer soon became a smash-hit, and took all of France by storm when she launched her own publication, Coccinelle, in 2022. Four years and millions of magazines sold later, no one has their finger on the pulse of Paris like Cheng.  Sources close to the couple say that while being the CEO of a multi-million dollar company has its difficulties, the pair is closer and happier than ever.

Who wouldn’t be, with the size of that rock?

“Adrien is really supportive of the whole thing,” a source tells us, adding that “Her success is his success. He’s so excited to take on the next chapter of their lives together.”

We’re so excited to see what the future holds for Paris’ favorite couple! From all the crew here at Mon Dieu, we wish them all the happiness in the world!

Adieu, cheries!

Pray for Paris? I will. But what is that going to change?

How about pray for the world? Pray for terror to STOP. Pray for people to stop being blind; to start looking at facts and learn and investigate and get out of that bubble of their own world because they have to. And let me break it down to you - here, in Israel, terror attacks happen every day. Babies, children, parents are murdered every day by terrorists that claim to kill in the name of allah.

And you know, here, sad as it is - we are used to it. (Not that anyone gives a fuck, IsraHELL, right? Terror in Israel is justified, for palestine, of course, those fucking heartless jews)

But when it strikes Europe, it’s time to wake up.
It’s time to wake up and realise terror is not only in paris right now - it is everywhere.
It is no longer a concept of the middle east, no. It is a concept of the world.

Look what happens in Syria, in Iraq, in Africa - people are terrorizes every single day and the world stands still.
True, now, our hearts are with Paris. But in a week?

What happens in a week?

I am telling you this as a 17 year old girl who LIVES in a reality where everyday is #prayfor day. Pray for Jerusalem because two teens were murdered by a terrorist, pray for Hebron because a family was bombed by a terrorist, pray for Haifa because a 70 year old women was stabbed to death on the street by a terrorist and those are just events of one day.

And I don’t have that international hug. No one changes their profile picture to the star of david or posts hashtags. Contraire. The international media is blind enough to encourage those actions and praise the heroes who died for palestine and killed innocent civilians.

I was crying last night, watching the news about Paris.
I was crying because it was terrifying.
I was crying and I was angry.
I was crying and I was devastated.
I was crying, but unlike most people, I wasn’t surprised.

We have to stop terror.

..We have no other choice.

Five Minutes With... Sam Heughan

When it comes to guilty pleasures, we’ve got our fair share: donuts, bowls of pasta as big as our head, a glass of orange wine on a Friday afternoon. But no guilty pleasure is as guilty - or, indeed, as pleasurable - as Outlander. The sumptuous melodrama follows a feisty 1940s’ feminist who is hurled back in time to rebellion-era Scotland when she touches some magic rocks. Once in the wilds of the North, she stumbles upon the softly-spoken, kilt-wearing gentle giant Jamie, and lots of steamy, sexy sex ensues. All with a steadfast and resolute focus on female pleasure. It’s not only rare when it comes to television, but downright applause worthy. What’s not to love?

The show is pretty much our favourite thing to binge-watch, and it’s thanks in no small part to this man: Sam Heughan, who selflessly spends most of the series shirtless for your viewing pleasure. (His bottom trended on Twitter after Outlander’s climactic - ahem, pun intended - episode 10 when Claire and Jamie first consummated their union.) We sat down with the man making television so, so great to find out a little bit more about the new season.

MARIE CLAIRE: Is this your first time in Australia?

SAM HEUGHAN: It is. I have had an amazing time. It’s such a beautiful… [Pulls a face] It’s so sunny I want to be outside! [Laughs] But it’s been amazing. We’ve had two days off, so when we landed we went to a rugby game. Then I went to Bondi, Manly cove [and] up the Bridge. It’s been great.

MC: And have you tried Vegemite?

SH: Yes, I had Vegemite on TV yesterday. I loved it. I really like it. Anything on toast is good though.

MC: The fans of this show are legendary. Is that something you had ever encountered before?

SH: No I had never encountered anything like this. What’s surprising is that we have been to America and we’ve been in Europe and the fact that the fans over here are just as enthusiastic about the show [is amazing]. We had an event last night and they all turned up and they were all wearing some piece of tartan and they were really into it and it’s crazy to think that the show has that far of a reach.

MC: What’s the craziest thing a fan has done to get your attention?

SH: I probably can’t say, because I think it’s a bit embarrassing. But they’re great, they generally are very, very well-meaning and very supportive of everything we do. And some time it might go a little too enthusiastic, but they’re also self policing as well and they have a great community of support for each other.

MC: A lot of people - ED’S NOTE: Ahem, marie claire staffers included - love the fact that the sex is so feminist and realistic in the show. How important was that going in?

SH: The show is from the point of view of a woman so therefore we see it from her eyes. Myself and Caitriona [Balfe, who plays Claire] are very aware of what we do and why are we doing it. We don’t want it to just be some explicit, pornographic thing on television. We want it to have a meaning and move the characters forward and show something about their relationship.

MC: What can fans expect in the bedroom in season 2?

SH: I think they’re going to be surprised actually. Very surprised.

MC: Pleasantly?

SH: I don’t know. You know, at the end of season one Jamie has a great trauma happen to him, so he’s still suffering mentally and physically and Claire’s now pregnant. So they’re not the young lovers that have fallen for each other for the first time. They’re grown up and have a grown up relationship with all of its intricate details and that will be reflected in the bedroom.

MC: There’s a ninth book coming this year. How abreast are you of where Jamie’s story arc goes?

SH: I think she’s getting there. From what I hear. She um, she allows us the odd bit of information. I know what happens to Jamie in the end of the series. We do talk a lot and she does give us little insights into our characters. If we ever have any questions or anything really she’s a great source of material and she’s helped me and Caitriona in lots of ways.

MC: You and your co-star Caitriona Balfe are very close. What’s the best and worst thing about that?

SH: The best is that it’s reflected in the show. We go to know each other well in the first season and developed this bond and this trust. I think it’s great to be able to share the journey with someone. The worst… Now what could be the worst thing… I think recently we’ve had people discussing our personal life and whether we were in a relationship and it’s almost a shame that that has to be discussed because we’re just doing our job. I don’t know what other job you do where you have to discuss your personal life or relationship with a co-worker. It’s very strange.

MC:Do you guys make a point of not talking about it when asked?

SH: For a while. I mean we were asked in every interview and we were quite candid about it. I felt like we should just not discuss it at all but she wanted to make it clear and I think that’s totally fair. Um. I don’t know. Part of me thinks it breaks the spell. And the other part of me says we should just be honest about it and make it clear but then, you know… I don’t think it matters.

MC: On a scale of 1-10 how great is it as a Scot to wear a kilt everyday to work?

SH: 10.

MC: Are you very Scottish?

SH: I would say I’m an honorary scot. I’m from the borders, My mum is English, I don’t have the strongest accent. But I’ve certainly fallen in love with my country and the many facets that make it up and the history of it. And now staunchly proud of it and the history of Scotland and its culture. It’s great to be able to film there and bring our culture to the rest of the world. My responsibility is to make sure that we are as authentic as possible.

MC: There are so many raunchy costume dramas at the moment, from Outlander to Game of Thrones and Poldark. What do you think is the appeal for audiences?

SH: Things that are based on books are always very rewarding. I guess people like epic drama because they can commit to it and grow with these characters and learn more about them. I think Outlander is very different to the others. Game of Thrones is an epic fantasy, Outlander isn’t. I think Scotland is part of the appeal of Outlander, certainly. Poldark I haven’t seen. But Aidan Turner is probably the drawcard there.

[Laughs]
MC: So what do you like to watch, of an evening?

SH: A documentary. Love a good doco. Love ‘em.

MC: Like nature documentaries? [ED’s NOTE: Could you seriously not come up with any other kind of documentary? HRY: Nope. Just not a doco kinda gal.]

SH: Nature’s alright. Anything factual, anything real. I’m finding it harder and harder to find something to watch. I do watch a lot of American TV shows and dramas, but, especially when it comes to books, I find myself drawn to factual stuff. It’s just as exciting and in fact even more so because it’s real.

MC:Are you a binge watcher or an episode-a-week kinda guy?

SH: Binge.

MC: What is your advice to people suffering from the Droughtlander?

SH: Well they haven’t got long left now. They’ve got this far. Don’t give up. Don’t lose heart. Be prepared. It’s going to be different. Drink some red wine, because it’s [set in] France. Eat some cheese.

MC: How would you describe the series in three words?

SH: Poisonous. Political. Two ps I need another P… Purpose. Does that work? [Laughs]

Outlander season 2 will air on Foxtel’s SoHo Sundays at 8.30PM from April 10

The Many Shades of a Young and Beautiful Girl

Lana Del Rey interviewed by Grazia France, 2014

In a very short time, Lana Del Rey has become one of the most famous artists of this decade. For Grazia magazine, she remembers moments of her 2014, talks about the future, her next album and the madness of fame in the age of Twitter and Instagram. A very shy star.

There is something really strange in the eyes of this young lady, a flash of lightning that comes right to her hands, swallowing around her tattered jeans. This is the lightning of her phlegm, the way she moves and talks. Here she is, right in front of us, quiet and mysterious, and yet she seems to not be really aware of her terrible charms. Then it appears hard to explain exactly why she inspires us – is she just a good-looking girl? To be fair, she’s far away from this archetype. An assumption comes to our mind when she starts posing for the photographer: Lana Del Rey is gracious, yet obstinate. Fragile, but confident. She is a shy star who fell on earth to possess (haunt?) the body of a 2010s pop star. And this duality is responsible for her unpredictable personality. She’s probably the only one who would be okay with an interview in such a short time before the end of the year (as it usually takes months before getting a proper interview of anyone really famous). We had asked her last Wednesday per mail, and only a few days later we were on the way to meet her in a city similar to Los Angeles (where she currently lives), New York City (where she goes whenever she can) and Paris. Yeah, we’re talking about London. That’s it, the strange freedom of this singer made of paradoxes: Being able to control every aspect of her career and suddenly deviate from her initial path if she feels the need to do it. Taking time for herself, and giving to the others, investing all her energy into her interlocutor’s comfort if she feels okay with them. Our meeting could have lasted one day, one night, one week, one month or one life-long, with Lana, we never know. While we were chatting, she recalled that, when we first interviewed her two years ago, we had noticed how long her nails were. She showed them up again and told us that she had just shortened them. Then she started drawing little palm-trees in the sketchbook that was laid on the table while playing us some extracts of songs she plans to record. She also asked about each of our birth dates and started talking about astrological signs and the American writer Joan Didion… Despite of all that curiosity, Lana never revealed herself completely. That is probably what makes her such a modern woman. She is not in her thirties yet and wears all the typical features of her generation (which is usually called X, Y or even Z depending on who you will be talking to). And although she is a celebrity, she is very discreet when it comes to her personal life. And although she has millions of fans all over the world, she remains true to herself. She chose to sing about her love and her lovers, but keeps protecting her privacy. Well, at least she tries to protect it. The conversation that follows is a rare insight into Del Rey’s perception of the various events that marked her 2014 and the release of her newest album, Ultraviolence. This interview is the first she gave since a very long time.

How was your year?
I would say it was unusual. I toured from April to June, before releasing the album, and then I did absolutely nothing. I was really happy with the sound of Ultraviolence, but now when I hear it again, I start thinking about the hunches I got when I was still writing the songs. Now I think that I went too far. I’ve been in some awful situations, you know, situations that I couldn’t control, that I didn’t even want to create. Especially with journalists, the one from RollingStone and the one from The Guardian, and all the others who were always asking me the same goddamn questions. “Do you really wish you were dead?”, “Did you fuck with someone in the industry?” Obviously, when I wrote tracks like Fucked My Way Up To The Top, I knew such kind of things would happen, and I should have simply answered “no”, I should have moved on.

What is your state of mind now?
I’m afraid that the album will be forgotten. I’m always afraid good things will be forgotten, buried. Musically, I’m still looking for something different, with majestic choruses, beautiful orchestrations, a type of 50s vibe with a bit of soft grunge. Since March, I’ve been writing a lot of new songs, in a more conventional way – verse, refrain, with a strong Jazz influence. I’m having a lot of fun with all of that. And next year, I’ll tour across the USA. I’ve been doing it only once before and I was really moved, especially in Detroit where I could feel the weight of its history. So, that’s why I decided that I wanted to do it again, this time with my friend Courtney Love, for two months. My new album will be released afterwards, maybe for in late August.

Did your writing style change for this next record?
My lyrics are very similar to me, who I truly am, but I must admit that I’m currently trying to do some new things. It’s a bit surrealist, full of colours. I feel much more inspired by people like Mark Ryden, Fellini or Picasso. Oh, I’m totally fond of this documentary “Fellini : I’m a Born Liar” which explains that the film maker was in love with his hometown, and each of his movies is like one of its facets. I like his idea, the fact that truth should never impede a beautiful lie. [Smiles]

You seem to like evoking the 50s imagery in your songs: the Golden Age of record studios, ladies singing late at night with their big band…
Yeah, I love it. I love nightlife and its mood. That’s why I wanted to meet Mark Ronson: I played him ten songs I composed for the new album. Not so much that he added his usual signature, soul and funk, but rather it explores a sound close to the Golden Age of Jazz. I wasn’t even born in the 50s but I feel like I was there. And when I was still living in New York, I was looking for this dream, maybe some other girls had the same, to live as a singer in a Jazz club where I could sing some classics, but my own compositions, too. I had a very romantic vision of what a singer’s life should be like. I daydreamed about tours in Europe, just like Chet Baker, for example.

You like drama, right? You find it attracting?
I don’t. I came into [the music business] without any drama inside me. But immediately, things started to get heavier.

Isn’t it strange to be nostalgic about an era you never lived?
Yes, it is and it might be the reason why I never really had a lot of friends – only those who feel connected to the past and the future at the same time, like me. And we are not many out there. I’m friends with James Franco… He’s one of the very few people I know who are linked to the past, the actors of the past, the California of the 60s, and the New York of the 70s.

You grew up in a small town near the Adirondacks. Do you miss the places of your childhood?
Yes. The house is full of memories. It’s hard for me to come back there. I did two weeks ago, I was coming from New York, for the first time in four years. My room hasn’t changed. There’s still the same poster pinned on the wall, but everything seemed much smaller to me…

You did a cover of The Other Woman, a song that was already famous, especially Nina Simone’s interpretation. The song is about a love triangle. But your version isn’t very clear: we don’t know which point of view, which ‘other woman’ you are in the song. So, I’m asking you: Who are you? Are you the wife, the mistress, or even the husband himself?
I always wanted to cover this song. I’ve been constantly listening to it for years. It’s interesting to see an ambiguity in the lyrics… [She starts humming a bit of it] I think I’ve always been ‘the other woman’ in a way, well, at least I always felt like it. I don’t necessarily want to be at the edge of everything, but it’s a fact, I’m a kind of outsider. I’m always the one who stands outside of the circle. Even in my private life, I often feel overwhelmed by what happens around me. That said, I also played the part of the normal girlfriend, the more ‘legitimate’ one.

Do you feel like you are the spectator of your own life?
More and more. Because of the internet, when you are with someone else, it’s very different. People do not know you only from what you choose to tell them, they know you from what they’ve heard, seen or read on the web. This is undeniable, especially when I meet someone for the first time.

Are you loyal?
I want to be and I think I am in my heart. If I find someone I love, I will probably love them forever. I am a very faithful person, emotionally, I offer all my trust. But I’m always careful. Because I see red flags around everyone new I meet. Finally, I think I like people with a constant temper the best. I don’t want any more surprises in life.

Are you a control freak?
No, not really. Okay, I totally am! [Laughs] When I have a sound or a mood in mind, even for a very simple song, sometimes I have to fight to get precisely what I wanted. But I try to chill. Otherwise, I’d be doing the same things over and over again. And that’s not what I like in music.

Are you ever bothered by your perfectionism?
All the time. When I tour, for example. It’s difficult to perform the songs every single night.

Did you ever want to give up, erase all this and make a fresh start?
I have often thought about that, but I can’t. I’m famous.

Does that mean that fame is like a burden for you?
It certaintly made things more complicated than they used to be… Apart from my private relationship with my family, everything is public. Even my phone calls. I can’t be sure they’re not listened to. You can’t even imagine what people already stole. Only my memories and my imagination are private! [She laughs before pausing for a moment] I am a very shy person, maybe even pathologically shy, and being famous doesn’t really make it easier. I like going out, dinner at a restaurant, but it has become almost impossible for me. Everyone has a phone or a camera… It’s odd, but that’s what my daily life is made of. I’m always being photographed, even when I’m buying Aspirin. Obviously, I should have known better. But it is also true that when I started singing, when I was 20, the world was very different. It’s not easy to be quiet now. I never suffered from all that, but I must be careful. There are many strange people out there. [She laughs again] I carefully swim in new waters.
