Getting him into those frocks was a scream. We blagged them from the King’s Theatre wardrobe. Everyone was howling with laughter when they came out. Before they went on we were all helping them with their make-up. It was a hoot. We were all sharing the same eyebrow pencil and lipstick. It was a complete free-for-all with a ton of make-up. As Sophisticated Boom Boom were an all-girl group, we and our make-up were inseparable. But Peter was a brilliant artist so he could have done his own face pretty well. He was a force of nature.
The Sophisticated Boom Boom have been asked to DJ at the Tiki Bar & Kitsch Inn’s ZOMBIE THEMED HALLOWEEN PARTY on the 29th of October, so break out the fake blood and come and sink some drinks with us. We’ll be spinning a selection of our favourite spooky tunes and throwing our usual hot voodoo into the proceedings. We would recommend the famous but deadly Zombie cocktails (beware - it’s not called the ‘Zombie’ for nothing!) and their delicious Gin & Juice which comes served in a suitably sinister skull mug.
Saturday 29th October, The Tiki Bar on Bath St, Glasgow, 9pm til Midnight.
Black Randy & The Metrosquad - I Slept In An Arcade
C: As featured in the cult film Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains, Black Randy and the Metrosquad are lamentably overlooked. The brilliantly titled album this song is from, ‘Pass The Dust, I Think I’m Bowie’, has some great tracks including 'Idi Amin’ - a paean to the Ugandan dictator - and 'Sperm Bank Baby’, the imagined lament of a kid spawned from a sperm donor.
