the sand box

DIY Green Witch Portable Altar

If you’re like me, and like to bring your earthy witchcraft with you this is the DIY for you.

cost breakdown and materials:

✨ Wood box - $2.99 from craft store (but most stores have coupons)

✨ Stain - $4.99 (a small bottle will last you forever)

✨ Moss - $5 from a craft store (I’m sure you can fine it somewhere cheaper)

(side note: I don’t recommend getting it from the ground. It can lead to mold/bugs/allergy issues)

✨ Hot glue

✨ Acrylic Paint and brushes

Prep your box by sanding down any rough edges, removing any stickers, as well as making sure it’s dry and clean.

Stain your box. You can use a rag or brush to apply stain. Read the directions on your stain bottle, and wipe off extra stain. I love wood stain.

The latch has an eagle on it :)

After your stain is dry prep for the sky. You can prep with gesso or just white acrylic paint. This will make your colors pop more. I just dove in with painting, but if you want really crisp border lines use masking tape.

While waiting for the white to dry I hot glued in some moss. It takes the glue really well, but retains its fluffiness.

Add your night sky. To avoid having to paint tons of layers because your paint is transparent, ad a little white in. For the sky I mixed white, black, and blue, and left it a little unblended for a foggy feel.

Ad stars. I chose Cassiopeia, Polaris, and the Big Dipper. Use a tooth pic to get small dots.

Add in your items. I didn’t have a tea candle so I made a temporary candle from a shell. I also added some jars for herbs and a couple of crystals.

Sea Magick Charging and Diffusion Box

1) Get a clear box. A pretty one from an antique store or second hand store is best
2) Collect items associated with your intent such as: seashells, shark teeth, sea glass, coral, crystals, dried herbs or flowers, driftwood, or lava rock
3) Fill the bottom of the box with sand or sea salt and place your collected items inside
4) Find a shell which has a hole that can be filled and essential oils of your choice. I chose jasmine, rosemary, and eucalyptus for awareness and truth in a relationship
5) You can use a piece of tissue rolled up, fabric scraps, or cotton balls as your diffuser. Drop your essential oil combination (you only need 1 drop per oil, or 2 for a lighter scent) onto your diffuser padding. Then stuff this inside the shell. Be careful not you get the oils on your hands because it could cause an allergic reaction. You could use a stick or pencil to push it inside. Don’t push the padding too far into the shell or you wont be able to remove it.

Leave the lid to your diffuser box open to scent your space or keep it closed to charge the items inside. You can place a stone, charm, sigil, or other object you wish to charge with you intent inside the box.

An alternative is to use sage essential oil and use sea salt instead of sand. The items inside the box will be cleansed

Do you ever think about marrying me?

“Do you ever think about getting married?” Shawn asked you, turning down the music in his car.

His question surprised you quite a lot. You turned your head, gazing over at him. His shy eyes met yours shortly, before looking back on the road.

New environments were never a comforting thought for a young child. Y/FN Y/LN was no exception. Having moved into a new suburban home close to her kindergarten, Y/N didn’t have many friends to begin – if any at all. The world seemed too big for her tiny mind. Five years of living and Y/N was still as shy as they come.

The first day of kindergarten arrived, and Y/N wanted to show off her new glitter shoes – the ones that glow and sparkle in the sunlight when she’d walk. Of course, she was way too shy to ever ask her classmates what they thought, and to her, it was almost as if they never cared. Swinging her feet as she sat in her chair, listening to the teacher introduce herself, Y/N bowed her head, shamefully staring at the shoes she thought would bring her friends.

A tiny, chubby cheeked boy with straight black hair turned his attention towards Leg-Swinger, her pretty hair put up in pigtails as her shiny shoes rocked back and forth. His straight and stern face was tough for a fellow five-year-old, his eyes staring at the little girl across the room intently. Diverting his attention back to the teacher, the little dark-haired boy began to swing his feet.

Mrs. Park had finally released the tiny children, sending them off to the playground. The sun beamed down as Y/N sat on the edge of the sand box, her tiny legs burying her shoes and hiding the glitter. It was embarrassing – all the other little girls had regular pink Barbie shoes and the boys had their trucks and racecars. Y/N had glitter.

“I like your shoes, lady.” A tiny, squeaky voice piped up from behind Y/N, making her tiny body shake and whirl around. Her eyes landed on a timid boy, his hands wringing the hem of his shirt as his hard gaze met her surprised face.

“Y-you do?” Y/N questioned, pink rushing to her cheeks. A reassuring and forceful hum rumbled his throat as he nodded vigorously. His black hair bounced as he nodded.

“I’m Jungkookie,” the little boy nervously pointed, “Who are you, lady?”

Y/N’s nose crinkled as she crossed her arms over her chest, “I’m not lady, Jungkookie.”

“Then who are you?”

“Y/N!”

“Y/N,” Jungkook swallowed, “You’re pretty.” He blurted out before running away, the dirt flying from his shoes as he ran.

“Wait!” Y/N called out, watching him disappear into the playground slides. Turning back to face the shoes buried in sand, Y/N’s legs slowly pulled out, letting the sand fall off from the glitter.

Someone actually likes her shoes.

What are your thoughts on the Dorne revenge plot? It seems to be cool to shit over Doran & Oberyn even trying to get justice for Elia (Jon Arryn rewarded it) or bothering to worry about the Dornish common folk (the Tyrells & Lannisters don't care about their own). Ask about the North or the Riverlands, it is justified & lauded but Dorne is all about the 'water gardens are going to burn.'

I think there are two points of discussion here: the implications of the plot GRRM wrote, and the way fandom discusses it vis-à-vis the other revenge-driven plots. As far as the second point go, there is definitely a conversation to be had about how factions in fandom latch onto the obvious fallibility of Doran’s actions but ignore them from other characters, even though the vengeance commentary runs through so many stories from the very first book. It’s in Robert’s, Robb’s, Arya’s, Dany’s, Sandor’s, Tywin’s, Tyrion’s and others. There is also a tendency in many fandoms to deny PoC the space for a story about vengeance without utterly vilifying them for it, which has to be a point of criticism in a story that is filled to the brim with revenge quests because Doran should not be held to a different standard than the other characters. And I’ll raise you the tendency to dismiss a powerful scene such as Oberyn’s screaming at Clegane to “say her name” and reduce it to a mere manifestation of Oberyn’s desire for vengeance. Oh, you’ll have to pry this scene from my cold dead fingers.

However, I do not want this to be conflated with legit interpretation of the story Martin gave us and the imagery and foreshadowing he drops, or criticism of Doran’s motives and plans. It is not productive to take any and every discussion about the repercussions of Doran’s plans and the grievous mistakes he makes to be an attempt to shit over him and Oberyn. The theory about the Water Gardens burning isn’t an attempt to punish Dorne for daring to want revenge for Elia and her children, no one is reveling in it or thinks it’d be just, but as much as I really don’t want it to happen, it does fall in line with GRRM’s pattern when it comes to portraying the end results of revenge plots, and the progression of the Dornish storyline does not look promising. King’s Landing exploding and the Water Gardens burning are the Red Wedding and the Sack of Winterfell of the Dornish plot. You see the mistakes the characters are making and the path they are going to lead to, you want to scream at them to stop, turn back, don’t do this. But you know they are walking right into their doom.

“Atleast your lunch didn’t run away?” Jughead grumbled sarcastically. “Real smooth, honestly author in training right here.” He groaned, dropping into his seat in the back of the chemistry classroom.

He was the literal definition of an idiot, look it up in the dictionary and there he was, a stupid grin on his face as he spewed out lame jokes to the love of his life. Not that he had ever had a chance with “The Betty Cooper” but whatever minuscule hope he had was crushed by that cringe worthy display that had just occurred in the hallway.

He couldn’t seem to get his words straight when she was around, he blamed it on her soft skin and strawberry scented hair, that could send any guy into catatonic shock but in actuality it was just her presence in general. Jughead couldn’t remember a single day where the beautiful Cooper girl wasn’t racing through his mind, he found himself staring at her whenever he got the chance, creepy as it was he was drawn to her by some unexplainable magnetic force. He tried, really he did.

“You’re not good enough for her, for any of those kids but especially not Alice Coopers daughter, it would do you good to get your head out of the clouds.”

His mothers sharp words and harsh tone rang through his brain. She was right, he knew that but still… he had to go and touch her? He had to feel that electrifying shock when his skin met hers? And then.. the blush on her cheeks when he brushed away the grease stain. Jughead lifted his palm to reveal the smudge of oil, he couldn’t keep the grin off of his face, it was stupid he knew that, to put actual meaning into her words

“I’ll see around Jughead Jones.”

It wasn’t something he really had the time to think about, but when it came to Betty Cooper there had always been time. He still remembered the first time he saw her, they were only six year olds and she was sitting on her own by the sand box, wind whipping through long blonde pigtails, she had been talking to herself, head ducked low as she whispered. He hadn’t been able to get her out of his head since that day. She was like him, he knew in that moment she was dealing with something bigger than both of them, just like he was.

Living in the Southside of Riverdale wasn’t something Jughead took pride in especially considering he was the only teenager from that side of town who went to Riverdale, his father had been adamant about his son attending the better school, he wanted him to have an education, he wanted his life to be different than his.

Forsythe Pendleton Jones was a good father, he worked hard to provide for his family, he was kind and loved his family to a fault, his only fatal flaw?

He was the prominent leader of the Southside Serpents, a title that held a lot of weight in the community, a lot of weight on Jughead shoulders.

As for Jugheads Mother, Gladys Jones, she was a horrible, bitter, angry woman with a deep hatred for her oldest son, he was a disappointment and she made it very clear with every beating. She wanted Jughead to follow in his fathers footsteps, she wanted him to take over the Serpents, and he tried too, but it was never enough.

He wanted a normal life, a normal family, a girlfriend.. one with silky blonde hair and haunting, meadow green eyes.

The rest of the day flew by without another sighting of Betty, well not until the end of the day, He caught her walking side by side with Archie Andrews and Kevin Keller , her neighbor and American dream extraordinaire and the Sheriffs son.

Popping the cigarette he kept in his jacket sleeve into his mouth, he stared openly as Betty Cooper walked past him, a hint of a smile on her lips as her eyes lingered on his motorcycle, a hand reaching out to touch the chrome, before Kevin grabbed her hand

“Rude.” He shook his head lovingly at the blushing blonde and shot Jughead an apologetic smile “sorry, we’re still teaching her manners.” He teased walking ahead with Archie who snorted.

Betty stuck her tongue out at the two boys and turned to Jughead

“I’m sorry, that was rude. I just.. sometimes I can’t help myself, your bike is beautiful.” She averted her gaze to the Harley and he laughed

“She sure is, you can touch her if you want.”

Almost instantly she dropped her backpack and bent down by the bike, her fingers touching the wheel and admiring the old fashioned detailing.

“My dad had me fix up an Original Harley when I was eight, I’ve been in love with them ever since , I haven’t seen one in ages.” She looked up at him with sparkling eyes as he squatted beside her

“You should see my dads, this one is practically scrap metal compared to his.” Jughead couldn’t keep his eyes off of her, the passion in her eyes, her ponytail was in pieces after the long school day, she really was beautiful, almost too beautiful. Perfect.

She beamed at him
“Maybe you could show me one day?” She was practically bouncing with excitement, wrapping her fingers around his forearm her tiny hands were softer than he expected, considering he was certain she was almost always elbow deep in a trucks hood.

They both took a moment to stare into each other’s eyes, something different yet so familiar mirrored brightly.

Jughead cleared his throat, tearing his eyes away

“Umm, yeah totally. Whenever.” He tried to come off aloof, but his twitching fingers might have given him away.

“Betty!” Kevin called, “Come on, I’m getting hangry” he sing songed.

When Betty turned back to Jughead he was already mounting his bike, the engine revving loudly.

“I’ll see you around Betty Cooper.” He smirked

“How will you get in touch with me?” She called over the rumble of his bike.

“I’ve got my ways Juliet.” He grinned before riding away, leaving an incredibly confused Betty Cooper smiling after him.

-Michael went over Jeremy’s house for the first time uninvited. His parents were a bit late picking him up so Jeremy said “why don’t you just take the bus with me” and being a kid he just went with it. You’ll never understand Mr and Mrs Heere’s fear that another kid showed up to their house

- One time Jeremy tried to tell Chloe that she dropped something so he tapped her shoulder and told her, Chloe turned around and said “oh god it DOES talk”

- The school lunch was so terrifying that Jeremy and Michael used to pretend they were mutant zombies and the lunch ladies were trying to take over the world

Luck of My Life

So I finally had the time to make it… Here’s chapter 1 of the childhood friends AU idea I had before- just in time for day 12 of adrinette month! <3 These kiddos are 9 in this chapter.

Chapter 1

Adrien couldn’t stop crying as he stared at the remains of his toy in his shaking hands. This was the third time this week. He so badly wanted to scream, but he was worried that it would attract more attention. He may be allowed to cry, but he drew the line at wailing. He was an Agreste, he could stay strong. No one needed to know what he could do.

His sniffling sounds brought over his mother though.

“Oh kitty,” she said soothingly. “Don’t cry. I’ll buy you a new one. You can control it next time.”

He gave her a sad look that displayed all the longing he had to be normal. “But mama, I can’t! I’ll just destroy it again. I’m a monster.”

His mother gently shook him from his despair. “You’re not a monster, sunshine. Life may have given you this power, but it doesn’t make you a monster. You have a kind heart, and don’t let anyone ever tell you otherwise.”

She cupped her hands over his, and took away the toy’s remains. “Now, let me take this. I’ll go buy you a new one. Thankfully no one saw you destroy that- they might not understand.”

She kissed his forehead and guided him to the playground swings. “I’ll be back. I love you.”

“I love you too, mama.” Adrien gave her a small lopsided smile while wiping away his tears. “Thank you.”

He sighed as he watched his mother leave. He was alone again. It wasn’t crowded in the park today- only 3 other children were there. None seem to be paying him much attention. One kid was off at the sand box building some sort of castle as he hummed under his breath. Another kid was hiding behind a tree, writing something down on a notepad she carried along while watching the boy in the sand box.

The last child was holding a cat stuff toy on one hand as she swung across the monkey bars. Adrien flinched when he realized that her gaze was on him.

Did she see him destroy the toy?

Fear suddenly gripped his heart. This was what his parents warned him about, people will finally look at him differently. He was going to be Paris’ monster. The child that destroys everything he touches. The child that brings bad luck.

He braced himself for the inevitable scream from the girl, but instead she gave him a toothy grin. He stared at her for a few seconds before giving her a small, confused yet questioning smile.

It must have looked weird because she giggled and dropped herself off from the monkey bars with a graceful flourish.

She approached him enthusiastically, not showing any signs of fear. Adrien relaxed, she couldn’t have seen him destroy the toy. But as she came closer, she had a glint of excitement in her eyes that showed that she knew something.

“I saw you.” She said simply.

Adrien’s heart dropped. He gripped the chains on the swing and readied himself to run away. The young girl realized what he was about to do and consoled him.

“Oh no, no, no. Don’t go! I won’t tell anyone.” She said frantically. “I-I just wanted to say that- that, you have a gift!”

He stared at her smiling face sadly, and almost regretfully, he told her. “It’s not a gift.”

“But it is!” the girl insisted fervently. “That’s what my parents tell me.”

“You don’t understand!” he said bitterly, new tears now streaming down his face. He embarrassedly hid his face in hands.

“But I do!” she said patiently. “I have a gift too.”

He raised his head and looked into her eyes- her bright bluebell eyes. “You do?”

She sat down on the ground in front of him and smiled. “I do.”

Adrien gaped at her. “I’m not alone?”

“You’re not alone.” She repeated.

Adrien just stared at the girl in front of him, taking in her midnight dark hair, her gorgeous eyes, and her pretty freckles. This girl was just like him. And for a moment, everything was okay.

“Why are you sitting on the ground?” Adrien questioned after long moments of silence. “Aren’t you worried you’ll get dirty?”

“Well, there is not other seats around, and I didn’t want to leave you alone when you are sad.” She said, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.

Almost at once, Adrien shot up from the swing and said, “Then sit here! You shouldn’t get your pretty dress dirty.”

“No, no, it’s alright!” she waved away his offer. “You were there first, it wouldn’t be fair.”

“N-no, I insist.” Adrien gave her a solemn look. “My daddy said that that’s what a gentleman would do.”

The girl contemplated it, “No, it’s alright. I’m fine on the ground.” She said firmly.

Adrien hesitated, but upon seeing her steely eyes, he gave in. “Alright, if you won’t take it, I’ll just sit down here with you.”

Adrien plopped down on the ground and gave her a friendly bump on the shoulder. “I’m Adrien. Ca-can we be friends?”

“Mari.” She responded, returning the bump with a wide beam. “And of course!”

They stayed there for a while, just talking about anything. Before today, Adrien didn’t allow himself to believe that he could ever make a friend. His first real friend.

It would be about half an hour before Mari’s parents would come by, and Adrien tried to make the most of it by joining her in the playground.

“I have to go,” Mari said as she saw her parents approaching. “But before I do, I want to give you something.”

She pulled him into the playground castle. It was a closed place, hiding them away from the rest of the slowly gathering crowd.

“Promise you won’t tell anyone?” she said nervously as she stared at him through her bangs.

He gave her the sincerest look he could possibly muster. “I promise.”

“Okay.” She said softly.

She stared at her hands, slowly opening and closing it as she shook ever so slightly.

“Uh, Mari?” Adrien asked questioningly.

“Shhh.” She said, giggling quietly. “I’m trying to focus.”

A bright red glow covered her hands. “Now, what’s your favorite color?”

“Black and green.”

She grinned and the red glow grew. All of the sudden, a stuff toy dropped out of nowhere onto her awaiting hands.

Adrien stared at it.  It was a medium sized black cat stuff toy. The ears were long and pointy and the electric green eyes were a little too comical to be realistic. A mischievous quality was almost visible and familiar to him, grinning at him in a liberating way.

“It’s for you.” Mari said shyly.

Adrien withdrew the hands that he didn’t even notice was reaching out to touch it. “I couldn’t.”

Mari’s face fell. “Oh, I understand. It’s alright.”

“No!” Adrien said anxiously. “It’s- it’s just that I’m worried it will get destroyed.”

“It won’t.” Mari said surely. “It’s my gift.”

Adrien tentatively stretched out to touch it. The moment his fingers hit the soft furry toy, he instinctively pulled back his hands as if he was afraid the toy would burn. When it didn’t, he let out a gasp and he took it slowly from Mari, cuddling it close to him.

“Your power is beautiful.” Adrien said gently.

“You’re beautiful.” Mari murmured.

Adrien felt a warm feeling spread itself across his chest. This girl didn’t see him as a monster. The most beautiful girl in the world thought he was beautiful.  Adrien felt lighter than he’s ever been.

“Thank you.” Adrien tried to put a much emotion as he could in those two words.

She only smiled tenderly in response.

When Mari’s parents arrived, Adrien almost couldn’t bear to say goodbye. But after assuring him that she would be there the next day, he beamed and shyly gave her a gentlemanly kiss on her hand.

“Goodbye, my lady.” He said to her retreating back. “See you tomorrow.”

….

Only, he didn’t. The next day, his family boarded themselves on a flight to China to find a healer- someone who can cure him of his gift. He came back 2 years later, without a cure, and without his mother.

He wouldn’t see his lady for another 10 years. By then, he didn’t even remember her face or her name.

He only remembered her eyes, her smile, her power and her kindness.

He remembered so little, but without a doubt in his mind, he knew he found her that fateful day he decided to use his powers for good.

He found her- his lady.

Ladybug, whoever you are behind that mask, I love you.

Chapter 2 here

Ok we are not nothing.
You know the evening sky
like a drunken mother in a nightgown, you know in the morning when she cracks like the axe split
the cherry tree and lies all cold
on the ground,
and the dog inside pawing
at your red toes, your pre-pubescent growth spurts aching
with the dawn.
Something haunting. Like the echo
of the rubber ball rolling
under the bed that your limbs
have outgrown but you can’t
afford much better, your room is tilted down on this side, lower sunk into the earth, punched and swallowed, but cursed all the same. like a loose tooth.
red dawn on your jam and toast, and your legs stop swinging,
you reach a hand in, and yank at that hanging chrysalis feeling, and lick it when it’s free,
and this is why they’ll call you
bucky butterfingers
you just don’t know it yet
Something ugly, and childish, and smeared around your gaping mouth like blood,
we can just
pretend it’s cherry popsicle.
I tried to cut my fingers off with
safety scissors, you left me all alone behind that fence, those great big sunflowers with moving heads and stiff necks, and yellow tongues, I used to run out back with
milky slopping glue in the corners of my eyes
and eat all the carrots and dirt and hedges I wanted, alone,
until a grown up found me,
and peeled me from the garden by scruff of my neck,
she closed the bathroom door behind me, told me to wash my face with blue dish soap,
and I cried when it stung, when it
made my tongue feel like a slug
in salt, but
I said ouch very quiet with
her wrinkly, rubber hands squeezing in under my
play-doh ribs, cartilaginous and still soft, like a tadpole in mud.
she turned her nose and
said I smelled like a wet dog and
plopped me covered in scrapes
and full of wriggling worms like
fly ridden fruit, her black skirts bit
away the feeding curl of ants I fed my
stale cookies to, she sat me with a towel to dry in the time out room to
be eaten by fat clowns with
clocks for faces, and half past midnight for teeth,
I buckled my mouth, I was brave,
crossed arms and wolf fur under
my armpits, wild thing screaming for her mother
the alphabet backwards
smashing doll houses in
velcro Mary Janes, the
sand box bully, the
monkey bar hog with
wood chip splintered knuckles and callouses to prove it,
covered in scrapes and
caved in and hollowed out
like an empty pint of ice cream,
I have spare band aids in my
pockets, like confetti to a cheap
magician
why are those purple things under your eyes
so big? can’t you do something
about them? don’t you
want to be a better girl?
