“I can’t believe you’ve never been to a track meet before.”
“I’ve never had a reason to come to one,” you say, defending yourself against Wanda’s accusatory tone and disapproving gaze.
“That’s no excuse,” she responds with a click of her tongue. “Now hurry up, we need to secure a good spot.”
You follow her blindly, not knowing what qualifies as a ‘good spot’. Unlike Wanda who has spent years attending track meets with her brother, you’ve never been to one. Like you told her, you never had a reason to attend one. Not until today.
“Ra’s Al Ghul appeared on Arrow a few seasons back and it seemed only a matter of time until one of Batman’s deadliest foes showed up on Gotham next – and here the DC supervillain comes. Game of Thrones alum Alexander Siddig has been cast to play the head of the League of Shadows on Fox’s Dark Knight backstory series from Bruno Heller.
Currently on a late winter break, Gotham returns for the rest of its third season next month with Siddig’s Ra’s Al Ghul expected to make his on-screen debut soon afterwards. The character will be revealed on the show as David Mazouz’s young Bruce Wayne begins to finds out who is really behind the secret Court of Owls council that seems to run everything in Gotham.”
Sorry they’re all ¾ view faces looking towards the left. I’ll make another post with the rest of the drawings once I make some progress on my animation finals. I’ll be on winter break starting December so hopefully I’ll have time to do finished art that aren’t just headshots.
Bucky x Reader (Soulmate!AU) Summary: The day Bucky returned from Wakanda changed your life forever. But what are you supposed to do when he doesn’t feel the same?
Prompt: The soulmate clock is actually something breakable and you accidentally break yours or vice versa (taken from this post).
Word Count: 1963 Warnings: angst but also eventual fluff, I promise.
A/N: Honestly, i feel like this could have been written so much better but also i’ve had the nastiest writer’s block and this is the best i’ve got to show after a month of writing rip sorry guys but i still hope you enjoy!
The tower had an unusual nervousness about it when you awoke that morning.
FRIDAY was uncommonly silent and the rooms and halls felt large and empty, the usual bustle of friends and staff gone. Tony had called for all meetings and tests to be cancelled, everyone already overwhelmed with the flood of visitors you were to be expecting that day.
Of course, the majority of those visitors had been assigned to you. No matter the occasion, you just never caught a break.
But the nervous energy filling the tower was suffocating and you couldn’t help but fiddle with the ring on your finger – something Steve had bought you last Christmas for just that purpose – as you walked towards the livingroom.
Things weren’t much better when you arrived. Tony was uncharacteristically quiet as well, pacing across the living room as Rhodey watched from his seat by the couch. Nat and Sam sat just as silent and anxious at the kitchen counter, throwing you a small smile but much appreciated smile when you entered.
You hated the sudden changes in behaviour but knew that it was to be expected because today was the day that Bucky Barnes returned.
You’d never met the man before and your friends hadn’t seen him in over two years, the last time being shortly before he’d been put in cyro. While things hadn’t ended on the most stellar note, everyone had put it behind them and they were was happy, albeit a little bit anxious, to have him back.
You, however, were behaving oddly for an entirely different reason.
It wasn’t because you were the only one to have never met the man before and it wasn’t because in just an hour you were to face a roomful of new recruits (although both were good reasons).
It was because the small inked clock on your arm was nearly at its end; in just under an hour the digits on your skin would finally read 00:00:00.
As your cousin speeds forward, closer to his house, you can’t help but laugh to yourself. You were mixed with equal parts of dread and excitement, longing to wind down the window to shout out their names but at the same time wanting to hide away, hoping that you wouldn’t run into them at all. What a turn of events. Looks like it was going to be a fairly interesting winter break after all.

My Feast of Fortuna gift for @patroklosandachilles! This took me forever to finish and post, I’m so sorry! I based it off the song “The Changing of the Seasons” by Two Door Cinema Club, I hope you like it!
It was June. Will found himself at the counter of the Earl Club, sitting alone on a slow Thursday evening. The poignant scent of whiskey and wood polish overwhelmed his senses, dulling the warm summer twilight into a sluggish blur. Foggy memories of auburn hair and sickly sweet lips drifted through his mind as he downed another glass.
He barely registered the sound of the door bursting open, and the loud thudding of footsteps that followed. A familiar voice pierced through his addled state, “Will? Will, it’s me, Nico, are you alright?”
Will shifted his gaze to Nico. He could make out the angular plains of his face and loose strands of dark hair falling into his eyes. Despite his dismal predicament, warmth filled Will’s chest. “Nothin’ to worry about,” Will slurred. He forced a smile, “I’m doin’ just fine.”
Nico glared at him. “Solace, you aren’t fine. Piper said you broke up with Mitchell and then the next thing I know you’re here and you’ve already drank an entire bottle.”
“More like half a bottle,” Will said.
Nico rolled his eyes and pushed the glass out of Will’s reach. “We’re going home.” His tone indicated the issue was not up for debate. He slung Will’s arm around his thin shoulders and pulled him upwards. Will was unsteady on his feet, swaying dangerously as Nico assisted him out the door. He dragged him down the street, past flickering neon signs and mobs of people bubbling up from the subway.
They managed to make it around the block to Nico’s apartment, and several flights of stairs later, Will was deposited on the couch while Nico disappeared into the kitchen. Spots danced across Will’s vision, and scraps of 18th century poetry about love and lies pounded in his head.
Nico returned several moments later, carrying a blanket and a glass of water. He placed the cup on the coffee table and draped the blanket over Will’s body. “Mitchell isn’t worth this kind of pain, Will,” Nico said, seating himself on the edge of the couch, beside Will’s legs.
Will focused his bleary eyes on him. “I loved him, Nico. I loved him so much.”
Nico sighed and scooted closer. “What exactly happened between you two?”
“He cheated on me,” Will replied. He worried the hem of the blanket between his fingers, “A couple days ago, I came home from the library a couple hours early. I figured studying could wait a day, and I could do something nice for Mitchell. When I got to the apartment, he was making out with another guy in the kitchen.” By the time Will finished, the threads of the blanket were unraveled and frayed, and his face shined with tears.
Nico placed his hand on Will’s thigh. “You know, if he can’t see how special you are then that’s his loss.”
“But I saw how special he was, and I loved him for it. How am I supposed to move past that?” Will said in a quavering voice.
“There are lots of other people out there who you will love,” Nico answered. A fond smile crossed his face, “And they will love you a whole lot more than Mitchell loved you.”
It was October. A crisp autumn breeze laced with tidings of winter whipped through the open window of Will’s apartment. The downy texture of the shag rug he laid on cushioned his body. He turned his head to look at Nico, whose dark hair spread around his face like a smear of ink against the clean, white material. The air was acrid with the sharp scent of spices rising from the burning candles on the nightstand.
“I can’t believe you actually think those things smell good,” Nico said, wrinkling his nose.
Will rolled onto his side and propped his head up on his arm. “If you don’t like them, why do you always come over here?”
Nico rolled his eyes. “Because you’re lonely and have no one else to keep you company. Speaking of which, you aren’t still pining over Mitchell, are you?”
Will sighed and shook his head. “No, but I haven’t exactly made progress in my more recent romantic endeavors either.”
Nico sat up. “What about that girl in your anatomy class? Or the boy you met at the coffee shop?”
“The girl has a boyfriend and the boy turned out to be an asshole,” Will replied.
“Their loss then.” Nico scooted closer to Will.
Will laughed and smiled. “You always know exactly what to say in these situations, don’t you, di Angelo?”
Nico flushed. “You’re my best friend, I’m just trying to help you. If it’s any consolation, I haven’t had sex in a year, and the last time I tried going on a date the guy turned out to be a drug dealer.”
“I’m hoping these two incidents aren’t related,” said Will.
“You’re an idiot.” Nico rolled his eyes and punched his arm playfully.
Will stared at him with softness in his gaze. “Do you remember what you told me about how there will be a lot of other people who love me?”
Nico’s muscles tensed. “What about it?”
Will hesitated. His eyes remained fixed on Nico, taking in the sharpness of his cheekbones, the warm brown of his eyes, his lean, pale figure. Will’s heart pounded in his chest. Every nerve in his body felt like it was singing with electricity.
“Will?” Nico raised an eyebrow.
Will snapped out of his stupor. He shook his head, “N-nevermind, it was nothing.”
Nico’s eyes lingered on Will for a moment before he flopped onto the carpet and continued to rant about the scent of the candles.
It was February. Will was once again dumped across Nico’s couch, surrounded by half-eaten boxes of discount chocolate and crushed bouquets of wilting roses. Snow blew past the window in a horizontal blur. The room was silent except for the crackling of logs in the fire and the sound of paper crinkling.
Will turned his head to look a Nico, who was laying in a pile of discarded candy wrappers and ribbons at Will’s feet. “You didn’t have to do this, you know.”
“Yes I did, you’re my best friend. It’s my job to comfort your lonely ass on Valentine’s Day,” Nico said.
“Technically it’s the day after Valentine’s Day,” Will reminded him.
Nico glared at him. “Smart-ass.”
Will laughed and slid off the couch to join Nico on the floor. “Thank you.”
Nico flushed. “Don’t thank me, I already told you this was obligatory,” he said.
“So you do have a heart.” Will grinned and scooted closer to Nico so that their shoulders were touching.
Nico rolled his eyes. “If anyone here is heartless, it’s you, Solace.”
“How dare you make such an accusation!” Will exclaimed. He pressed a hand to his chest, taking mock offense.
“Hey, I’m not the one who ruthlessly murdered a spider in my apartment,” said Nico, smirking.
Will threw his hands up defensively. “Nico, it was a spider! It was kill or be killed!”
Nico laughed and rested his head on Will’s shoulder. “I would’ve never pegged you for a killer, what with your colorful clothes, dimples, and perpetual optimism.”
Will smiled and closed his eyes. “The best killers are often the ones you’d never expect.” Nico hummed in response and they fell into a comfortable silence.
“Will?” asked Nico, breaking the quiet.
“Hm?” Will answered.
Nico peered at Will’s face. His eyes were still closed and his dark lashes casted shadows across his freckled cheeks. His tousled golden curls contrasted sharply against the gray New York City winter.
“You haven’t pursued anyone since you broke up with Mitchell, right?” Nico bit his lip.
Will opened his eyes and stared at Nico, confused. “No?”
Nico sat up and moved so that he was sitting across from Will. “D-do you mind if I try something?” His tone was tentative.
Will’s heart rate sped up tenfold. “S-sure.”
Nico’s eyes fluttered closed and he leaned forward. As if pulled by an invisible force, Will followed suit, and pressed his lips to Nico’s.
Their first kiss wasn’t as earth-shattering as it was in Will’s fantasies. There weren’t fireworks or dramatic flourishes of horns and strings, but it was everything a kiss should be: brief and tender, and composed of a thousand what-ifs.
They pulled apart, faces as red as tomatoes and hearts pounding erratically in their chests.
“You kissed me,” Will said.
Nico huffed. “Way to state the obvious, Solace.”
“No, wait,” Will pressed his fingers to his temples, “That’s not what I meant to say.”
“Still stating the obvious,” Nico pointed out.
Will exhaled and dropped his hands to his sides. “Please just kiss me again.”
The corners of Nico’s mouth lifted into a smirk. “I’d be happy to oblige.”
Their lips connected once more, this time creating a kiss that felt like the first blossoms of April awakening to a rejuvenated earth after a difficult winter. Will smiled against Nico’s mouth; spring had come.
Team RWBY, 20 minutes compiling and editing (original roughly 4-5 hours each, so in total around 20-25 hours for all 4 girls.)
I did some smaller edits to this team version: changed Blake’s belly and edited Yang’s hair because I thought the original one’s looked a bit strange.Yang’s hair doesn’t seem that noticeable when seen from afar and still looks like the original version. Weiss has a bit of chin deflation and Ruby just has a bit more rose petals painted in.
Anyway, this will probably be the last drawing of 2016 (other than the occasional twitter shitpost doodles.) I’ll be leaving to Taiwan and Hong Kong for the rest of December, so I’ll see you guys next year.
Here’s to 2017! :D Happy Holidays (winter break, or regular winter), and may you have a Happy New Year!
supposed to do this like two weeks ago but with Gundam ending so late and me
getting swept up with many things, I didn’t have the time, but here’s a quick
rundown of the best and worst of the Winter season. I’m gong from best to worst and also since I watched very few shows this season, I ‘m not gonna break them down in best/meh/worst
masterpiece to the very end, as heartbreaking as it was full of joy and love. There
was this weird insinuation at the end that didn’t sit well with me at all and
I’m not sure why they felt the need to do it, but I can overlook it because the
rest of the picture is so wonderful and special and heart-wrenching. When
Konatsu asked Yakumo to make her his apprentice, I actually cried. What a
beautiful show. Don’t let the obscure antique Japanese art keep you from
experiencing one of the best anime of this decade.
Ao no Exorcist: Kyoto-hen
I was a bit
worried about this one because lately, when an “old” show gets a sequel many
years after it last aired, said sequel turns out underwhelming and poorly done.
See D.Grayman HALLOW (which also adapted my favorite arc from that manga) and
Berserk (production values aside, the decline of this is due to Miura’s gross
storytelling, so I guess it was inevitable). But I was more than surprised and
ecstatic to see this rendition of the Kyoto arc did justice on the source
material, with excellent production values, a good pace and wonderful emotional
and action scenes alike. AoEx is one of the finest examples of the battle
shonen genre and that translated wonderfully to this new iteration of the
anime. I can only hope we’ll see Izumo’s and Shura’s arc eventually too.
I was a
Little on the fence on this one at the start, but once they laid down all the
cards and tied all the loose threads, it became absolutely amazing. I’m sorry I
ever doubted you Natsume Ono, your ability to craft smart and fascinating adult
stories shall never be questioned again. Definitely worth checking out if you
want to try something different to your usual anime genres. Helps that the
visuals are really interesting and that Mauve is such a bae. I still feel Jean was
the weakest link with his absolute nonchalance, but even that somehow worked at
the end. Definitely worth going through the somewhat slow initial episodes.
Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation
NGL i’m not
a fan of Kaburagi, he’s so much like Naruko I don’t feel he adds anything to
the team. But this is now officially the Teshima show and that compensates for
the snooze that is Kaburagi because Teshima has become so fabulous and cool I’m
just excited every week to see what he’ll do next. Also the First-year race was
a true highlight and I’m very disappointed Sugimoto didn’t make the cut, they
did a fantastic job in making him likable, so it was sad to see him lose.
Hopefully he’ll get to assist Imaizumi when they’re 3rd years.
Little Witch Academia
a lot of fun, with really sweet animation and it also sports the Best Girl of
the season, Sucy Manbavaaran, although I gotta say there were a bit too many
fillerish episodes and it was frustrating to see them take so long to get the
plot going. I’m not hating on the show, it is in fact extremely entertaining,
but it’s a little lacking on the plot department. Hopefully we’ll get more of
that on the second cour.
been happier of not quitting a show as I am about Classicaloid. By episode 3 I
was on the verge of giving up because it wasn’t what I had expected, but I kept
going and I ended falling so hard in love with this show I’m ecstatic it’s
getting a second season. Once I embraced the absurdity, it became the best
comedy of the season, and I honestly would watch Schubert’s fishy misadventures
for 52 weeks a year. It’s an acquired taste for sure and not easy to recommend,
but if you’re willing to let go of all reason, you’re sure to have a good time.
I have a
lot of love for this show and its characters (and Sekizan’s ridiculous hair),
but I’m afraid the pacing they chose basically doomed them because with the
abysmal sales, it seems unlikely we’ll ever see a second season and therefore
we’ll never get to see if Jinko does get to Hanazono. It’s a perfectly
competent sports series, that does a really good job of developing its huge
cast, definitely much better than the likes of Prince of Stride or DAYS, but
its inconclusive ending is quite frustrating. I really do hope we get to see
more of these boys, but Madhouse’s never been all that good with the whole
In spite of
its low ranking, this is actually a really good show and a unique take on
teenage female sexuality that you wouldn’t normally see in this mostly sexist
medium. Hanabi made for a truly interesting protagonist and I liked seeing her
explore herself and her relationships. I was however quite disappointed by how
little focus we actually had for Hanabi and Mugi’s relationship. I felt there
was more telling than showing in that regard, especially in the latter half of
the show. The ending was pretty good and mature in spite of everything, and as
always, I’m just really fond of all the vaginal imagery in the ED animation.
Could’ve done without Moca though.
At the end
of the Fall season, I expressed my concern about pointless, meaningless deaths.
Clearly the Gundam writers thought I wasn’t concerned enough because the amount
of characters that died pointless deaths went on to, I think, the double
digits. I wouldn’t have minded the carnage if there had been some sort of
payoff to the sacrifices. For example, if Shino hadn’t stupidly and
conveniently missed his one shot because the show couldn’t afford to kill
Rustal yet. I always felt Orga, Mika and Akihiro had a ton of death flags
looming over their heads, but I certainly didn’t expect all three of them to
get to the chopping block. Orga’s death was particularly random and pointless,
but then again, what they did with Orga in general was very confusing. That he
agreed to McGillis’s sketchy propositions to become “king of Mars” never made a
whole lot of sense to me and that’s the result we got. I’ll also never get over
how creepy and weird the whole Atra giving Mika a baby thing was. In short, I
have very mixed feelings about it.
write thousands of words for everything that was wrong with this series but I
think it wouldn’t make justice to the absolute experience that is watching this
amazing trainwreck. Go watch it to see a masterclass of how not to anime.
Honestly I had such a good time hating this show, it was so horrible in every
possible way. Good job GoHands, even animate, who sponsored this show, won’t
give it any publicity.
sure of how this production team managed to put out 20 episodes of nothing
actually happen. Like you just have to give kudos to the writers for managing
to simply not do anything over the course of 6~ hours of content. No drama, no
decent comedy, no character development, not even relationship development in a
BL romance. It’s kind of amazing how pointless the whole thing is. The dog’s
still cute and the relationship is still creepy and gross and that’s about all
there is to say about this.
Although most of the shows I watched turned out great, it did feel like a weaker season because there wasn’t that much that was interesting (my Wednesdays were literally empty). Or maybe everything looks lackluster in this post-Yuri on Ice world D: But there was Rakugo and rakugo is good and I’m glad we live in an age in which such a niche, quiet and adult artistic show could be made and tell a complete story.
Warning: Angst. @suchabigmesss asked me to pick up her heart from the floor, just an indicator.
A/N: Hi loves! It’s finally here, so sorry for the delay! Definitely do read part 1 first!! Thank you so incredibly much for all the love you give me and this story! This will be a multichapter series, so I really hope you’ll want to read it, I have an outline ready and chapters will be out faster than this one! I promise! Lots of love to all of your cute faces! feedback is as always greatly appreciated <3
Bucky looked at the hologram in front of him, gritting his teeth in annoyance. He had raided every Hydra base he could think of and more, but not as much as a stray of hair of evidence had been found of your whereabouts. His eyes scanned the map again, his brain working overtime to think of something he hadn’t thought of, something he couldn’t remember. Just something.
He came up with nothing.
Groaning in frustration, he dismissed the hologram and fell back in the chair. He stared out of the window at the night sky being lit up by a few stars, letting his mind run wild.
Seven months and twenty four days. That’s how long it had been since you had sacrificed yourself, going with Hydra so they wouldn’t hurt him or Natasha.
Whenever he closed his eyes, all he could see was the last look you gave him. A silent plea for him to step over the line so they would kill you instead of taking you with them. He hadn’t listened to your plea because he couldn’t stand letting you die. He had done what he wanted, let you live, and because of that, you were God knows where among the people who had ripped him from everything he was and made him into something they wished.
Last week was our third anniversary - I can’t believe it’s been three years already! Unlike last year, we were together this time (the pains of long distance relationships across borders!) so I wore something pretty to go out for dinner and drinks with my Moosh. We look some photos in Cubbon Park before the light faded and then strolled over to Social for cocktails and the arguably the best poutine in Bangalore. I felt rather festive in my burgundy velvet skirt and snowflake stockings from Tabbisocks - ‘tis the season after all! The best thing about anniversaries around Christmas is how joyous and festive everything is all around. I might post some photos from our Christmas celebrations later - we managed to dish up a full Christmas dinner with all the trimmings but forgot to get any pics of it! In the meantime, I hope y’all are having a joyous, restful and much needed winter break ♥
Request:Can you write a Bucky x reader, where reader has bought a new car and they decide to take a road trip with Steve and Sam, but a cop pulls them over and asks her some questions like ‘is this your car?’ assuming it was stolen, then asks Bucky and Steve if they’re safe and demands to check her car. It’s just basically a messy situation. @mazuru7
After years of saving and responsible decisions you finally had enough money to afford your dream car. The car you’d been drooling over since high school. You went to the dealership with Steve and Bucky because it was common knowledge that dealerships try to pull less shit if you have a man with you. You weren’t taking any shit so you brought two men who beat people up for a living. Bucky put an arm over your shoulder as you waited for the guy to come back with paperwork and keys. You looked up at him absolutely giddy with anticipation for your new car. He smiled down at you; he knew how much this meant to you and he was proud you were finally getting the car your heart desired.
“This is it doll,” Bucky spoke.
“I know,” you grinned up at him, “We should go on a road trip this weekend and really see what this baby can do.”
“You really want to put a bunch of miles on your new car?” Steve questioned.
“Steve, your old guy is showing. Why buy a car if not to put miles on it? It’s not the miles it’s the driver, and I am gonna take good care of my baby.”
That weekend you loaded snacks into the backseat for a trip down to Virginia Beach. Bucky loaded up everything else, he had refused to do more than one trip so he was carrying an ungodly amount of bags.
“Well look at you Hercules,” you teased as he put things in the back of the car.
“ Are you sure you want to drive?” he asked, ignoring your teasing.
“Yes I’m sure, Bucky. You’re just itching to get behind the wheel and I ain’t gon’ let you.”
“Is that right?” he leaned down closer to you, getting in your face as if to really scrutinize your expression and decide if you meant what you said. However, as he got closer his gaze kept dropping down to your lips.
“That is right, Sergeant Barnes. You’re never ever gonna drive my baby. I love this car more than I love anything in this world.”
“You are such a brat,” he laughed, pulling you close to him by your waist and pressing his lips to yours. Reflexively, your hands went up to cradle his face, his stubble scratching the palm of your hand.
“Hey are you guys gonna suck face the entire trip?” Sam asked. Bucky’s grip on your waist tightened as he turned the both of you quickly and dipped you, continuing to kiss you passionately. You were smiling into the kiss, used to his antics to spite Sam. He was smiling too and as he broke the kiss he looked down at you with his usual gaze of love and admiration before pulling you back up.
“Alright love birds if you want to get to Virginia anytime soon we should be heading out,” Steve chided throwing the last bag in the car. You smile hurrying to the driver’s seat ready to start the journey. Bucky sat beside you as a navigator, Steve and Sam were in the back. Steve was in charge of snacks while Sam had music. The three bickered back and forth often asking you to weigh in on their quarrels.
“But your dear boyfriend put nair in my shampoo!” Sam yelled.
“Oh my god, and he’s still alive?!” you exclaimed laughing.
“He did it before he left for a mission,” Sam explained.
“Well you couldn’t have been that upset, you didn’t do anything about it.”
“Yes he did,” Bucky interjected.
“Icy Hot in his underwear,” Sam responded triumphantly.
“Oh my god is that why you refused to have sex with me that one day?” you asked. Bucky only nodded. You glanced in the rearview mirror at Sam who looked more than satisfied with himself. Steve on the other hand looked like a tired mother of two at her wits end.
“Is this what you deal with at work?” you asked him.
“Oh that and much more,”Steve sighed.
“I feel for you, Cap.” you turned your attention back to the ever-stretching highway while the men in your car continued to bicker about past pranks. You were an hour out from the beach when the police car behind you turned on its siren. You glanced down at the speedometer to see if you were speeding. You were not and there were no traffic laws broken, so that left you to wonder what the hell was going. You turned on your hazard lights and went over to the shoulder lane.
“Grab my insurance papers out of the glove box would you?” you asked Bucky, your voice dropped to a forced calm. He grabbed the papers while you pulled your wallet out of the arm rest and got your license. You had both easily accessible when the police officer walked up to your window.
“Good afternoon, officer,” you greeted forcing a smile on your face.
“Afternoon. Can I see your license and registration?”
You handed them over immediately. He scrutinized your papers then your face as if he expected the papers to be fraudulent.
“Do you know how fast you were going?”
“Yes I do, sir,” you nodded. He hummed glaring at you, you stared back with a deceptively friendly gaze.
“Would you get out of the car?” he asked.
“Why is she getting out of the car?” Bucky demanded, putting a hand on your wrist to stop you from getting out.
“There’s a search out for a car exactly like this. So I’m gonna say it again, Miss. Please step out of the car.”
You did as he said and stood out side of your car.
“Is this your vehicle ma’am?”
“Yes, sir, it is.”
He looked past you to the men in your car, “Are you guys okay?” he asked.
“We’re fine. I’d like my girlfriend to get back in the car, and for us to continue our drive.”
“I’m sorry I can’t do that. I’m gonna run her license number, be sure she is who she says she is,” he cut a side eye to you. You watched Bucky’s hand clench in a fist and he looked about ready to blow. You thought for sure he was going to get out of the car and make the situation even worse. In your worry for Bucky you’d stopped paying attention to the officer. He grabbed your arm and yanked you around to look at him.
“I will put you in jail, do you hear me?” he growled at you, and you wondered what part of the one sided conversation you had missed. Three doors seemed to open in the car simultaneously.
“Get your hands off of her!” Bucky yelled, and Sam put a hand on Bucky’s chest to keep him from doing something stupid. Unfortunately he couldn’t stop Steve who broke the officer’s grip on you.
“What’s your badge number, officer?” Steve spit out glaring at the man.
“Steve,”you warned. The officer pushed Steve back.
“There’s an APB out for this car model. No way she bought this car so which one of you does this belong to?”
“It’s hers!” Steve yelled back, surging forward to attack but you wedged yourself in between them.
“Hey, man,” Sam called out, “Everything’s good here just let us go,” Sam was preoccupied holding Bucky back. You looked back at the police officer hoping by some miracle he wouldn’t be too preoccupied by the color of you and Sam’s skin to listen. The officer glared at all of you and it occurred to you that these were superheroes.
“Steve, show him your Avenger’s ID,” you requested straining your neck to look up at him. He grabbed his wallet from his pocket and pulled the ID out. It was enough to make the officer begrudgingly walk away and get back in his car, not without throwing your license at you carelessly. You caught Steve again keeping him from attacking the officer. After the cop car drove away you let out breath out that you hadn’t been aware you were holding. You also let go of Steve and got back in the car. Everyone followed suit after a while and you continued the journey to the beach. There was silence for a long time in the car, you glanced over at Bucky. You could feel the anger radiating off of him as he silently seethed. You reached over and gave his knee a pat.
“It’s alright, Buck,” you murmured.
“It’s not alright,” he snapped.
“You’re right. But it wasn’t worth a fight.”
“Yes it was.”
“Are you gonna fight every time someone is an asshole to me?”
“Ideally,” he nodded. You laughed a little at that shaking your head.
“I’m sending a complaint,” Steve announced as he looked down at his phone, “I got his license plate number.”
You scoffed, “Come on we’re gonna have a great time at the beach. Don’t let one asshole ruin the mood.”
“What if we weren’t with you?” Bucky demanded.
“Well I’m glad you were,” you settled.
“But what if?” he insisted.
You sighed, dropping your happy bravado, “Who knows? At best, I’d be in jail, at worst I’d be…,” you paused letting the thought trail off, “ but I don’t want to think about that, kay? I already know what this life is like for me, I don’t need to live in fear too. Let’s just be grateful I wasn’t alone and that I had the best of the Avengers to look out for me.”
Bucky took a deep breath trying to quell his anger. You took his hand and rubbed soothing circles on the back of it with your thumb. There was another moment of silence but this time it was much more comfortable.
“You dumbasses were gonna fight a cop on the side of the highway,” Sam laughed breaking the silence and coaxing a rueful laugh from the rest of you. Soon enough most of the tension had passed, but Bucky kept you close the entire time you were at the beach. It occurred to you that he had really been scared for you, so you didn’t say anything. You just let him hold you.

Lately you’ve been waking up in the middle of the night to an empty bed.
“Bucky?” You call out, grabbing the shirt off the floor and putting it over your head. The shirt fell down your body to the top of your thighs. You make your way to the small library in the apartment you shared with Bucky. You spot him sitting on the recliner, looking out the window in a deep trance watching the water droplets slide down the window.
“Hey,” you whisper, “what’s wrong?”
The master assassin jumps slightly. You couldn’t help but chuckle. “Y/N! you scared me.”
“It’s the fourth time this week I’ve woken up in the middle of the night and you’re not next to me. Is there something you want to talk about?” You ask as you pad your way to Bucky, sitting on his lap.
“I just… I just miss the 40s. I miss being amazed my new developing tech, the music, the way certain things used to be, carnivals, the science expos! My favorite! There was this one time I took Stevie to a science expo, Stark was showing off his flying car when the little punk decided to wander off…” as bucky continued to tell you about the things he missed, he began crying softly. You’d occasionally wipe tears away from his cheeks.
As he replayed memories, you studied his feature. Soft face, teary blue eyes, his hair a mess, his pink lips breaking into a smile when he talked about the adventures him and Steve used to have. There was absolutely no trace of The Winter Soldier. The person you were sitting on was the science nerd from Brooklyn who never asked to become The Winter Soldier.
“…It’s all so different now. I mean, I get to see Stark develop tech I never thought imaginable. And I’m here with you. The most wonderful girl in the word. But sometimes, I just get a little homesick for the 40′s.”
You give him a quick squeeze and get up.
“Where are you going? I thought we were having a moment?” Bucky pouts playfully. He watches you as you head over to the record collection and pull out It’s Been a Long, Long Time because you remember bucky saying it was his favorite song, along with a couple other records.
Placing It’s a Long, Long Time on the record player and playing the needle on it, you strut back to Bucky.
“Mister James Buchanan Barnes, may I have this dance?”
With tears still in his eyes threatening to spill,Bucky stands up. “Yes, my dear. You can.”
He grabs you ever so gently and guides you through the first dance. “Thank you Y/N. I love you so much.” His voice breaks as he whispers in your ear.
“I love you too”
The rest of the night, you both spend it dancing and reminiscing about the past.
When Derek comes back from winter break, there’s something subdued about him.
Dex isn’t sure where or when something changed. But there’s a quietness to the way Nursey moves now, a stillness in his words that wasn’t always there before. Nursey walks into the Haus and the smile’s still there, the one that hits Dex like a good check, but then he turns away from the kitchen and towards where Dex is sitting on the biohazard of a couch, and for a second Dex sees the smile slip off the planes of Nursey’s face. Just for a moment, when Nursey is facing that in-between zone, when Dex shouldn’t be looking but is, the tilt of Nursey’s mouth and the angle of his forest eyes suddenly feel heavy, restrained. And then their eyes meet, and Nursey’s lips are more smirk than smile, and the moment passes.
Dex scowls and returns his gaze to his laptop screen.

A/N: I hope you didn’t forget me yet. I hope you like this, it just sort of poured out. As always you can thank @allenting for encouraging my headcanons (what would I do without you to feed my giant ego).
I think this was the hardest thing for me to write. I really wanted to get the conversation and the reasons right. I hope I managed to keep it in character.
I’ll appreciate any feedback!!
For the longest time, Erin’s favourite part of the day was coming home
and snuggling into Jay’s chest after a tough day at work. Now, she has to be
satisfied with a long-awaited beer at her favourite bar. The added bonus is
that Jay is also there at the moment, and she can at least stare at him
longingly, if nothing else.
May was your favorite month. Summer was just around the corner and the anticipation was bubbling in your gut. This year, however, was different. The relief you felt in the previous years was twisted into a ball of anxiety that seemed to scratch it’s way up your throat. You couldn’t bear looking at a calendar scared of what the next day could lead to. And of course. You set everything off till the last minute. Your worries all lay in front of you now as you shut your locker for the last time.
