Faith is a bluebird, we see from far. It’s for real and as sure as the first evening star, you can’t touch it, or buy it, or wrap it up tight, but it’s there just the same, making things turn out right.
Okay so in light of the Jungle Book’s success, we know Disney is thinking of remaking the Lion King in a similar way. Tbh to pull that off it would have to be really good since the Lion King isn’t really a story that…needs retelling.
But you know a Disney animal story that could benefit from a CGI/live-action reboot?
Things to consider (or re-consider):
The Rescuers themselves (Bernard and Bianca) aren’t in it. Neither is their whole subplot. The main plot/relationship of the movie is that of Cody and the eagle.
With no ‘Rescuers’ in the film, the title is made clear to refer to Cody and the eagle themselves. There are scenes early on with Cody rescuing various animals for dangerous situations, and then he later rescues the eagle from the trap. The eagle then rescues the boy from falling from the cliff, but also later saves him directly from the poacher during the film’s climax
Cody is Aboriginal Australian
Hyper-realistic CGI on Marahute (the eagle), the backgrounds, and all the animal characters.
A CGI version of Marahute’s flight scene
More time can be spent developing existing and new characters; more scenes with the animals around Cody’s home, Cody’s relationship with his mother, the background of the captured animals in the poacher’s den, McLeach and Joana’s backstory, etc
