the pub thugs

Citronshipping: HoND and Tangled

I was inspired to draw these when I saw some old thiefship Disney (Tangled) crossover artworks. Although I chose TKB because I was listening to both of the films soundtracks and the song “ God Help the Outcasts”  reminded me of him and he is more apt for these IMO.Citron is so underrated. The ship is basically the YGODM counterpart to Tangled if done in an Ancient Egypt fairytale something AU.

I don’t know what Mariku is doing there. I felt the need to add him, he is supposed to be Pascal but he reminds me of the Pub Thugs/Ruffians for some reason.

Requirements for the TV show:
-short brown hair Rapunzel
-at least 80 Rapunzel and Eugene duets
-all characters must be in character…wait, let me rephrase that, ALL CHARACTERS MUST BE 150% IN CHARACTER
-Cassandra needs to be likeable even if she ends up being a villain
-loving and accepting king and queen
-lots of pub thug shenanigans
-lots of Max and Pascal shenanigans
-Stabbington Brothers appearance
-no crossovers
-acoustic guitar-driven score
-needs to have the TANGLED FEEL in general

“Let me guess, you have a great personality.” - Emperor Kuzco, The Emperor’s New Groove

“Pudge controls the weather” - Lilo, Lilo & Stitch

“Your dream stinks! I was talking to her.” - Pub Thug, Tangled

“When you marooned me on that godforsaken spit of land, you forgot one very important thing, mate: I’m Captain Jack Sparrow.” - Captain Jack Sparrow, Pirates of the Caribbean

“I shall call him Squishy, and he shall be mine, and he shall be my Squishy.” - Dory, Finding Nemo

Meaning of Names

Rapunzel -  Is the common name for “Rampion,” a plant similar to that of spinach or lettuce. Rampion is the generic name for the Phyteuma family which are usually edible plants with flower buds located throughout Europe and western Asia. The plants’ flowers are sometimes purple, blue, white, and yellow. The roots are edible as well. The round-head Rampion is highly common in Germany.  Meaning unknown, possibly related to the Germanic word for a light purple flower.

Eugene -  English form of Eugenius, the Latin form of the Greek name Ευγενιος (Eugenios) which was derived from the Greek word ευγενης (eugenes) meaning “well born”. It is composed of the elements ευ (eu) “good” and γενης (genes) “born”.

Pascal -  From the Late Latin name Paschalis, which meant “relating to Easter” from Latin Pascha “Easter”, which was in turn from Hebrew פֶּסַח (pesach) “Passover”.

Maximus -  Roman family name which was derived from Latin maximus “greatest”.

Arianna -  Italian form of Ariadne.  Means “most holy”, composed of the Cretan Greek elements αρι (ari) “most” and αδνος (adnos) “holy”.

Frederic -  English form of a Germanic name meaning “peaceful ruler”, derived from frid “peace” and ric “ruler, power”. This name has long been common in continental Germanic-speaking regions, being borne by rulers of the Holy Roman Empire, Germany, Austria, Scandinavia, and Prussia.

Cassandra -  From the Greek name Κασσανδρα (Kassandra), derived from possibly κεκασμαι (kekasmai) “to excel, to shine” and ανηρ (aner) “man” (genitive ανδρος).

Lance -  From the Germanic name Lanzo, originally a short form of names that began with the element land meaning “land”. During the Middle Ages it became associated with Old French lance “spear, lance”.

Varian -  English form of Varianus. Roman family name which meant “versatile” in Latin.

Quirin -  German form of Quirinus. Possibly derived from the Sabine word quiris meaning “spear”.

Xavier -  Derived from the Basque place name Etxaberri meaning “the new house”.

Monty -  Diminutive of Montgomery. From an English surname meaning “Gumarich’s mountain” in Norman French.

Nigel -  From Nigellus, a medieval Latinized form of Neil. It was commonly associated with Latin niger “black”.

Attila -  Means “little father” from Gothic atta “father” combined with a diminutive suffix.

Vladimir -  Derived from the Slavic element vladeti “rule” combined with meru “great, famous”. The second element has also been associated with miru meaning “peace, world”.

Stan -  Short form of Stanley. From a surname meaning “stone clearing” in Old English.

Pete - Short form of Peter.  Derived from the Greek Πετρος (Petros) meaning “stone”.

What do you think Vance will be like in Tangled BEA? Also what do you think the King and Queen will sound like? I hope they have as much emotion as in the movie.

Do you mean Lance?

It’s really hard to pin down what I think he’ll be like, since all we know is who voices him (James Monroe Iglehart) and that he’s Eugene’s friend. But we don’t know from what point in Eugene’s life he comes from. Is he a new friend? An old orphanage friend? A friend from his Flynn Rider days?

Going purely from his voice actor, I’m guessing he’s going to be a funny guy who ribs Eugene a lot, giving him a non-threatening guy friend he can go toe to toe with and not ever worry that he might get hit for saying the wrong thing. (Unlike the Pub Thugs.)

As for Arianna and Frederic, Arianna is voiced by Ashley Judd, so I imagine her voice is going to be somewhat mellow and maternal. We hear Frederic chuckle in Tangled, so that gives us an idea that his voice is rich and deep. He’s voiced by Clancy Brown (who also voices Mr. Krabs in SpongeBob, though I sincerely doubt he’ll sound like that in TBEA). I’m imagining a slow baritone, noble, that can fluctuate between kind and stern, depending upon who he’s talking to and what about. (Here’s an example of his voice work, so you get the idea of what he sounds like.)

UPDATE: Julie Bowen is replacing Ashley Judd as Queen Arianna. I don’t yet know if this means that they are/have re-recording/ed Arianna’s lines for TBEA, but if they are, that might be why the release was pushed from February to March.

In Wanted: Flynn Rider, the Stabbington Brothers disguise themselves as Eugene and commit crime, confusing the townspeople by appearing to be in two places at once. Eugene gets arrested, but Rapunzel, with the help of the Pub Thugs, get to the bottom of it.

Adorable illustrations and completely in-character dialogue through the whole thing.

Do you think the pub thug Maximus squashed was ok? Cuz she looked awesome.

1) We don’t know that she’s a Pub Thug, that’s just a theory.
2) Yes, I think she’s okay. It looks like slapstick comedy to me, which is littered throughout Tangled. After all, Eugene and Maximus were okay after falling off a cliff.
