AUSTIN, Texas – Local activists were standing up and fighting back in Austin after ongoing rumors of Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids in the city were confirmed Friday.
Per KVUE, ICE detained 44 Mexican immigrants in Austin since Thursday — an “unprecedented” level of enforcement, according to local immigration advocates.
Protests formed Thursday and Friday evening outside the J.J. Pickle Federal Building in downtown Austin, where ICE was reportedly processing detainees, according to the Texas Observer.
Another protest was held in North Austin near where a public ICE arrest took place Friday morning, documented in a viral video by El Mundo.
Eren Uribe arrived at the J.J. Pickle Building Friday in time to see ICE agents block protesters from four vans, which activists suspected contained immigrant detainees who had been nabbed and processed earlier that day, that were leaving the building. It was the first time she took part in a protest. Read more (2/11/17 8:17 PM)

On this day 11 April in 1689, William and Mary were crowned together at Westminster Abbey by the Bishop of London, Henry Compton. Also on this day the Scottish Convention declared that James was no longer King of Scots. William and Mary were offered the Scottish Crown and they accepted it on 11 May 1689. William decisively defeated James II at the Battle of the Boyne on 1 July 1690.
The Dutch artist, Romeyn de Hooghe (1645-1708), documented the 11 April in his painting (1689) with 9 scenes of the Coronation, from the fetching of the Crown Jewels from the Tower of London to the bonfires on the River Thames.
This is my sister she has been missing since wendsday we already have posters and have alerted the whole family and police but she could literally be anywhere. Her dogs name is leah and is shy, dosnt usually bark and is a nice calm pupper. She was going to go to a sioux reservation in north Dakota but she was coming back to get her son from the hospital (Ohio) and take him with her. We are checking in Michigan because that’s where the majority of her friends are but…I’m just her little brother. I don’t know what to do. They already have missing persons posters out and I’m scared. I don’t think people come back once the posters come out..so if anyone sees her..take a picture and submit it to me please. Something. Anything.
The tattoo on her wrist is a sun holding an umbrella , both of them are her drawings.
After a couple days of distracting myself and cooling down from the white hot rage Sunday night produced; I finally have the ability to talk about how I feel about Shameless.
I feel sometimes (a lot of times) creators don’t quite understand what they have created. This happens with books and TV shows alike. As someone who is in the midst of writing a novel, I will say all of my characters story arcs happened beyond my control. Because, here’s the thing, when you create a character they become something else. They become real in a way and its not about being the writer, being God. Its about being a vessel, a bridge.
The character becomes themselves and does as they would do and as the writer you are the vessel in which their story is told.
Where long running books and shows often fuck up is when they try to control the character and controlthe audience. When they think:
“I wrote them therefore whatever I make them do or say is law. Whether or not it is within their personality/character to do so.”
When the Creator thinks they are God, is when they fail.
Kate Upton completely missed the point of the Dolphins players’ protest.
Kate Upton thinks NFL players should forego their constitutional right to protest, especially on 9/11, and stand for the national anthem. On Sunday, she took to Twitter and Instagram to say so — and was met with much disagreement.
