in a world where you have your true love tattooed on one wrist and your sworn enemy on the other, and you dont know which is which...
-k so her wrists are obviously kai and levana
-and when she was little she thought Kai was some terrible person she would loathe bc true love could mean romantic love or platonic love or familial love and Aunt Levana would never hurt her!!! Right???
-So she would follow around Levana, trying to spend as much time with her as possible, bc she knew her and Aunt Levana would have the most incredible aunt-niece relationship ever.
-hahaha but post-almost being burned alive, Peony is obsessed with Cinder’s wrists bc Kai!!! Like the prince!!!!!!
-meanwhile Pearl and Adri scornfully remind her that Kai is a common name, its probably some peasant
-and Cinder tries her best to stay impartial. Her gloves not only hide her cyborg hand but her tattoos as well, and she actually forgets about them for a long period of time….
-and then she meets the prince. And oh shit. Ohhhh shitttt
-cinder isnt the best at romantic interaction, and she cant tell if that was flirting?? He probably hates her, shes a cyborg…
-and the mission to figure out whats on his wrists begins
-but why is he always wearing long sleeves??
-and the night of the ball, she finally sees one of his wrists! and it says levana. Oh dear
-so all of a sudden shes in jail and kai and levana are getting married and her place is quite clear…but why is levana the other name on her wrist?
-so what keeps cinder going, all throughout scarlet and cress, is that they have to be soulmates. Theres no other way.
-hes got Cinder/Levana
-and when hes a little kid and hasnt met either, he always kinda hopes cinder is the true love because the name just sounds so much…warmer
-then the whole arranged marriage starts happening and kai’s like…idk bout this…but the wrists dont lie…
-but then he meets cinder and its just!!! marry me!!!
-and then he realizes it…one of these girls is his sworn enemy…
-shit shit shit shit shit shit shit
-but things seem to solve themselves when Cinder is arrested and becomes known as a terrorist
-except levanas definitely not his soulmate? Bc most soulmates dont want to kill you…
-and so its an internal battle because besides the wrists he knows both have glamours powerful enough to control his feelings
-some nights he lays in his bed and just kinda cries bc he doesnt know whats real anymore
-but when they kidnap kai from the wedding and theres finally some time to talk to cinder, she shows him her wrists
-and theyre like “either its u and me or we re fighting to the death over levanas affection”
-so that becomes an inside joke of theirs, and kais always like “hahaha im winning” leading up to his marriage w levana
-but they act like in love idiots throughout winter bc they now theyre soulmates
Thats kaider for yall, imma do the other ships on other posts to avoid longness
a/n: finished “writing experiment!” thanks to all of you for your kind words; it surprised me so much and I was so pleased to see that you liked it.
takes place during & post-prince caspian
There is a story passed down through the generations, a story of two boys and two girls who came and freed a land with the help of a lion and who disappear, later, when everything had been shiny and bright.
They are a story.
It’s a lovely story, told by rabbits to their litters and horses to their foals. Even children are meant for mighty things, mothers tell their children as they drift away into sleep. And we must be faithful, like they were faithful, and wait.
The details are lost along the way.
There is just High King Peter and Queen Susan the Gentle and King Edmund and Queen Lucy.
Just distant names reminiscent of a golden time, of openness and freedom and joy, of war and struggle and victory. There are no faces to the names.
There never were those Kings and Queens, the Telmarines later say. They abandoned us, the angry later accuse (and there is such truth in the anger that the faithful cannot argue except in silence.) There are just names.
Which authors you should check out after finising Captive Prince
My dear fellow CP fans, the last book came out, you probably read it, then read it again, cried about it and you are still full of feels… And you long for another book like this.
While I can’t offer you a book of exact same calibre and quality as Captive prince series (sadly, nothing compares to it), I can introduce you to a few authors that might hold your interest and that write m/m fantasy…
KJ Charles writes mostly historical M/M romance and historical fantasy M/M romance. All of her books are unique, characters different but always extremely likeable, smut scenes so hot you need fans and plots will leave you on the edge of the chair. She also strives for diversity, her books contain people of color
(her upcoming book has a black man as a main hero, for example), disabled people and lgtbia+ people - aside from the main characters, there are lesbian, transgender and non-binary side characters in her books.
Double kudos for her, considering she writes historical stories where lot of authors tend to avoid these groups.
What to watch out for?
Nobody is perfect, so be careful about these topics -
There are some big age differences between couples (side couples tho) in Charm of Magpies series.
Some of her books contain BDSM. (however, it’s very well written and consent is handled well, just stating this in case someone is not into kink)
What book to start with?
To get a taste of KJ Charles, I recommend the book Think of England, where disabled English officer investigates a conspiration that ruined his life… and he meets a charming, decadent poet who is not all he seems.
Ginn Hale writes mostly m/m fantasy. Her stories are interesting and her world are amazing and different., full of magic and wonders. Her characters seems alive and you feel for their struggles. And sometimes, she even writes time travel stories and the results are magnificent!
Her books are more fantasy than romance, so if you are looking for plot, intrigue, magic and mysteries, you should definitely give her your attention!
What to watch out for?
Majority of her books take place in worlds which are very homophobic and our heroes has to deal with consequences. (and by homophobic, I mean main characters can get killed for it and some characters are flogged to death, tortured or burned to death and it’s described…) So if you are looking for fantasy homonormative worlds, Ginn Hale won’t deliver.
Which book to start with?
Probably Lord of the White Hell.
Young mechanist prodigy Kiram Kir-Zaki doesn’t believe in demons and hells and all such nonsense. Too bad that when he finally gains admission to the prestigious academy (as a first one of his race and religion), he is housed with Javier Tornesal, who is rumoured to be cursed… and it seems that these rumours might be true.
Ever wanted to read a fairy tale with two princes instead? Or a world where homophobia was non-existent and kings could marry whoemever they wanted? Think of all the arranged marriage tropes! Enemies to lovers tropes! Fantastic worlds full of magic and hella lot of characters! And polyamory? What about polyamory?
This and more can be given to you by Megan Derr. Some of her books are sweetest fairy tales adaptations (where heroes only kiss), some of her books are captivating stories full of politics, plots and fighting, some of her books are polyamory romances (which still have plot).
What to watch out for?
As stated, some of her books contain polyamory, watch out if that’s not your thing. Also, mpreg appears in a few stories. (EDIT: the men who get pregnant are trans, not cis, just to clarify)
My biggest pet peeve with Megan Derr is how she handles consent. There are lot of situations where character A wants to kiss character B, but character B doesn’t want to be kissed and says so. He is still kissed and then he finds out he actually likes it (or while he said no, he actually wanted to be kissed, etc) However, as far as I can tell, this only happens with kisses and not with sex, thankfully. Still bothers me tho.
Which book to start with?
She wrote some stories for free, so maybe check them out first if you are not sure. Her most known book (but not the best, in my opinion) is Prisoner, enemies to lovers fantasy story where man without name is trying to regain his lost honor, general is trying to win a war agains magical forces while having none of his own and spies are trying to save the countries from doom… or maybe doom them.
