If you ever want some second-hand awkwardness or embarrassment just watch what the page turner does while they’re waiting to turn the next page. Sitting there trying to keep a sensible, composed look on their faces. It’s painful.
Page Turner is a 2016 South Korean three-episode drama special starring Kim So Hyun, Ji Soo und Shin Jae Ha.
Yoo Seul is a student of an art high school and a genius pianist, who won various contests, but is being pushed by the unrealized dream of her mother. Cha Sik is a quick-tempered and ambitious athlete. When both of them get into unexpected accidents, they are forced to change the course of both of their lives. Together with rival Jin Mok, Yoo Seul and Cha Sik start a different and new life.
Wow, this three-episode drama special gave me goosebumps, since it was so amazing. It is a really motivating story that tells us how important it is to follow our dreams no matter how unrealistic they may seem. That it is important to fight for what you truly want to do and not what others want you to do and how important it is to believe in yourself. This drama shows us the life of three teenagers, who fight their inner demons, follow their dreams, overcome obstacles and find reasons to live.
I was really impressed by the growth of these three characters. The acting of all the three leads was really impressive. I loved Yoon Yoo Seul’s tough and straightforward character, who is also really sensitive on the inside. I loved Jong Cha Sik’s character, who is absolutely hilarious, bubbly, protective, loyal and tough, but as well pretty sensitive on the inside. And I also liked Seo Jin Mok, who seems extremely competitive, cold and arrogant on the outside, but shows a totally different side of himself during these three episodes.
Although we have the perfect requirements for a love triangle, you won’t find any romance in this drama, but it is definitely not needed. The friendship itself was impressive and heart warming enough.
Actor Performance: 10/10
I rarely rate a show with 10/10, since this is almost impossible, but this show was flawless in my opinion.
Well, it finally happened. It was bound to sooner or later.
I turned two pages at once during a performance.
Fortunately, I knew the music well enough to catch the error quickly and fix it.
But still… nothing like a heart attack at 166 bpm in mixed meter.
