the person who took this needs an award

Open Letter to Cardi B.

I don’t know if Cardi B. saw my tweet enough but she was on Twitter upset “somebody” said she didn’t deserve the Best Female Rap Artist Award.  And I remember getting a lot of her stans after me because they felt some type of way about my tweet about her primarily getting so much attention for her skin color. Look. It’s true. If you feel some type of way, acknowledge it. Be honest. You referred to dark-skinned women as “burnt roaches” after proclaiming to be some champion for them. You were also documented referring to certain black women as “monkeys” and “darkies” in the past. You bring every criticisms unto yourself. I’m not here for your being slut-shamed and receiving classist comments. I will defend you from that but I will never defend how you treated your female friends, trans people, queer men, and your referral to Jewish people.

I supported your last mixtape, and I’m going to be honest. I thought it was alright. I liked some of your songs but I do not think they were stellar enough for you to get an award for Best Female Rap Artist this soon. At least not over the likes of Kash Doll and Cupcakke, which you likely only mentioned because you saw fans rightfully say how they deserved it more. If you were all in this together, I wouldn’t have complained. But since it’s just you, obviously it’s because of who you are and how you look. If you weren’t so light-skinned and not African-American (ethnically, I’m not saying you’re non-black), you wouldn’t be as hyped the way you are. You would have been looked at as another Love & Hip-Hop reality star with some songs. Can you remember a time Rasheeda and Joseline were nominated for Best Female Rap Artist? Maybe I’m too young but I don’t remember.

I think you are a very attractive woman but how you act and treat others is ugly. I understand if you want to clapback at deserving “haters” but you don’t do that. You pick fights with people who don’t @ you, especially if they are women. You go out of your way to shame and embarrass them over an opinion. We all saw how French Montana got lambasted for talking shit about that girl’s hair texture over her opinion on his music. That was you when you talked about that girl’s skin color because she said you were ugly for a light skin girl. That was not a very nice comment of her but there’s a difference between her saying that and your literally using colorism and a gross slur to refer to her. All you had to do was apologize and admit that was wrong. You could’ve even said it was out of character, but you never did. And if you think putting dark-skinned girls in your videos and promoting them is going to make up for what you said about them, you have another thing coming.

I can see why you’re on Love & Hip-Hop. I can see you in movies or hosting things hip-hop related. I listened to your new song, and you have gotten better. But for you to have gone this far for something you only started doing last year is clearly a work of privilege. So many darker skinned girls from Chicago and ATL have done the same thing you’re doing for years, and they’re young. But where are their dues? From what I am getting from you, you don’t seem like a very nice person when you speak to others who really are calling you out for your problematic behavior. When you proclaim to stand up for a group of people, we expect you to go all the way through with it. You don’t back track when someone makes you angry. This is not about respectability politics, this is about how you treat others. The same can be said for male rappers, and I can’t for the life of me see why they still have support. But I’m focusing on you because as someone who claimed to be a black feminist, I’m not seeing any of your actions line up with your ideologies. It comes off as only doing it for the trend, and not because you genuinely care.

If you feel you worked hard, that’s all that matters. If you spent nights and days writing your material, that is commendable. However, all I was saying is that for someone like you to get a Best Female Rap Artist nomination that soon is suspect and clearly a work of light-skinned privilege. Hell, it took Nicki Minaj 12 YEARS to become the person she is today. I understand you came up a long way. I’m not bashing the fact you are popular and in the media. I’m talking about rap only. I said you did not deserve the Best Female Rap Artist award, not that you didn’t deserve to be where you are today. If you really want people to root for you (and I’m not talking about misogynists who hoe-shame you, they’re irrelevant) you need to not be defensive when others call you out for legitimate issues. Don’t say you’re a feminist but then turn around and slut-shame and call women “roaches” over their skin tone after building your whole platform being against it.

Hi girl,I love your Errow salt! People say that Laurel's recovery from addiction was too rushed, but I disagree. What's your opinion about that arc?

Hi! Brace yourself, this is probably gonna get long! The real question is: why does that matter?

Laurel’s addiction arc had all of the things it should have. Tommy and Laurel may not have been together when he died, but he died trying to save her, Laurel and Oliver (who had at that point shown signs of rekindling their romance) then decided that they couldn’t in good consciousness date each other whilst Tommy’s loss was so fresh.

They both felt to blame for what happened to him. Laurel committed herself to Tommy, it was difficult for Laurel to deal with Oliver because she never got closure for what happened between them, they never broke up, he “died” whilst they were still an item, she never got answers from him. Yet, Tommy and Laurel also have history, they comforted each other through the loss of Oliver and feelings blossomed. It was Tommy who doubted that. It was Tommy who was jealous and continually pushed Laurel towards Oliver and was convinced he was second best, despite Laurel wanting the three of them to establish a friendship and Oliver giving them his blessing.

So, Tommy breaks up with Laurel because he doesn’t trust her feelings and is convinced she belongs with Oliver. Oliver then tells Tommy that he needs to man up and let Laurel make her own choices and go after what he wants, but then decides to take his own advice and pursue Laurel himself right under Tommy’s nose. Laurel and Oliver sleep together shortly before Tommy’s sacrifice. It’s fucked up. There is so much blame on all sides here, though Laurel was often manipulated by these two men who allowed their feelings for her to come between their friendship and continuously pushed her away whilst trying to keep her.

So, both Oliver and Laurel feel to blame for Tommy’s death. Tommy died while on less-than-stellar terms with both of them. Even though Tommy and Laurel were no longer together, Oliver and Laurel still felt that they had betrayed him and decided to stay as friends. Oliver took off and self-isolated to deal with this, whilst throwing himself head-first into his crusade and indulging in violence as a means to cope. Meanwhile, Laurel finds out her sister is still alive and (after Sara fucked Laurel’s boyfriend behind her sister’s back, pretended to be dead for 6 years, tore their family apart because their parents couldn’t deal with her loss, their mother up and left, abandoned Laurel in the process and their father became a controlling alcoholic), Sara pretty much ruined Laurel’s home-life and most of the plans Laurel had made for her future because she fucked her sister’s boyfriend. So, suddenly, Sara is still alive and shows up, and suddenly their mother decides to be in the picture again, Sara doesn’t apologize to Laurel in any significant way and repeats the same behavior by not only fucking Oliver again, but inviting Oliver to a family-only dinner at Laurel’s house to essentially rub Laurel’s nose in it, before the two of them had even begun to build bridges. Oliver blames Laurel. Oliver tells Laurel he no longer has time for her and makes out that her struggles are nothing but a burden to him and accuses her of blaming everyone but herself (which is disgusting af and victim blaming because Laurel actually BLAMED HERSELF for Tommy’s death, that combined with her father’s substance abuse - addiction can be hereditary - it was inevitable that Laurel would start hitting the bottle.)

Laurel was the only person to be suspicious of Sebastian Blood, but her substance abuse had caused people to doubt her judgement and lose her job. No one believed her about Blood despite her being 100% correct. It destroyed her relationships and her credibility.. And because her grief/anger/addiction had caused people to turn their backs on her, she had no support network, which made her addiction worse. She denied it at first, the same as any addict. She tried to make out it wasn’t that big of a deal. It consumed her. Slowly, she started to admit she had a problem, she worked to attend AA meetings and repaired her relationship with her father now that she could understand him a little better, she even apologized to Sara (which will never not piss me off) for being hostile to her. When Sara then died Laurel fought to not go back to that place she was at when Tommy died. She channeled her grief into honoring Sara’s memory.

When Laurel became Black Canary Oliver accused her of chasing a high and doing this for the wrong reasons because she was an addict. He pretty much dismissed her choices and afforded her no agency by basically saying that the only reason she would do that is because she needs her fix and she was hiding behind the mask to avoid her problems. And Laurel rightfully called him the fuck out for that because Oliver had been burying himself in his crusade to avoid his feelings pretty much since the pilot so where the fuck does he get off. So, even in her Black Canary arc, Laurel’s addiction was brought up and the commonalities in these plots were highlighted to tell us “she has learnt/grown and is channeling her grief into something positive/productive this time”.

The addiction arc had everything it needed to: a catalyst, denial, hitting rock bottom, picking herself up, struggling to overcome, being faced with a situation that could trigger relapse but persevering, and then that scene where Laurel pours that full bottle out onto the earth at Sara’s grave when she decides that she’s not that person anymore, and she’ll make her sister proud.

Could it have been longer? Sure. Did it need to be? No. Not really. It was handled well and realistically. There was a definite step-by-step of development that told the tale of a real addiction. Katie’s performance was exceptional, and as someone who has a history of addiction in her family Katie took it seriously, did her research, sat in on AA meetings and fully deserved that PRISM award (making her the only actor on the cast to win an award for performance). It was inspiring and raw and cemented in the real world in a way that no other arc was.

Yet, people always use this “it was rushed” excuse as a means to undermine Laurel/Katie…But like…’s such bullshit. Because that arc took all of Season 2 and then was concluded in Season 3 upon her becoming Black Canary.

Meanwhile, Thea disappears in the last scene of the last episode of Season 2, then appears in episode 2? of Season 3 as a fully-fledged, League-trained martial artist, and it was all tell and no show (the same as Sara’s training, or the vast majority of Roy’s training).

People say Laurel became Black Canary too quickly and it was unrealistic? HOW? Laurel had been taking self-defense classes her whole life, beat up a couple of thugs to save Tommy and Oliver in one of the first ever episodes of the show, was shown holding her own against criminals in Season 1 and even Season 2 on multiple occasions, then in Season 3 she spent months training with WildCat and Nyssa Al Ghul, but all the haters say her fighting skills “came out of nowhere”. Yet, these people don’t complain about Thea “I’m a sheltered rich girl who’s never thrown a punch in her life” Queen being a master assassin after a few off-screen months of training. I love Thea, I do. I adore her. But the hypocrisy in mindlessly hating Laurel’s arc without acknowledging the plot-holes in Thea’s just makes your hatred for Laurel transparent af. The same could be said about Roy, he was a street criminal who had definitely been in his fair share of street fights, but after one or two scenes of training with Oliver he’s suddenly suited up and he’s Arsenal, yet no one complained that happened too fast. What about all the new recruits in Season 5? Like? 4? 5? of them appeared out of fucking nowhere with limited and varied combat experience yet they’re all suited up with code-names the first time we fucking see them. Felicity was handed a CEO position at a company with absolutely no business experience but there’s no complaints about that being ‘rushed’ or ‘forced’ by Laurel haters? oh, I wonder why! Felicity was romantically linked to 3 superheroes within a year and was emotionally toying with Ray by leading him on/dating him whilst she blatantly had feelings for Oliver, all for the sake of the writers throwing in some needless angst/drama, yet Oliciters hate Laurel for the Tommy/Oliver situation, when Tommy and Oliver were the ones who were causing the drama themselves, yet they make Felicity exempt of her treatment of Ray because ???? idk they just excuse her for everything whilst demonizing laurel and I don’t get it??????????????????? like,  you love her that’s great for you, that’s your opinion but when you love one character whilst hating another for being subjected to the same poor writing decisions you have to consider you’re hating for the sake of it.

Haters are just haters. They try and make excuses and come up with half-baked justifications for why they hate Laurel, but none of them hold any logical weight. It’s like those who demonize Laurel and say she’s “not like comic Black Canary” except Laurel is 136894742748482 times more like Dinah Lance than Arrow!Oliver is like his comic counterpart. Yet, they defend Oliver with “it’s a different take on the character” as if the same can’t be applied to Laurel/Black Canary. It’s nonsensical.

Basically, to quote queen Laurel Lance: “It’s the hypocrisy that I can’t stand.”

The writers

The writers when they have to get rid their problematic white male character due to backslash

writers: *sends him off, gives him a whole episode about what a hero and a great person he is, gives him an award* just because he is problematic doesn’t mean he deserves to die,, and we don’t wanna anger the straights

The writers when they don’t need their fan favorite with great potential poc/lgbt+ character who has done nothing wrong ever in their life for the views anymore.

writers: *kills them, never mentions them again* IT’S WHERE THE STORY TOOK US GUYS

I'm genuinely confused thou bc julie said since Nina is back she now gets to end the show the way she's wanted from the beginning, so she wanted st*eroline and d*elena to be endgame? What are your thoughts? Bc all the interviews and the commentary in the beginning was about how much she adored and cared for stelena so im just ????

I have stopped trying to conjure sense to JP’s words a long time ago. If you ask me she’s either lying, or she started writing something before working out some very important kinks she considered minor and eventually her work started slipping away from her and her writing abilities which she’s ashamed to admit now.

When it comes to works of fiction, we all have our ideas on how it works, how it should progress, and how it should end. So, in my opinion, her mistake was saying that Elena could never fall out of love with Stefan and fall in love with Damon as a human, which is very untrue. Elena could never fall out of love with Stefan only to fall in love with Damon with values and personality her character has developed over the first three seasons of the show. To make Delena happen they had to make Elena equal to Damon, and they did that by making her subordinate to him (popularly known as sire bond), which made her feel for him the same way he feels about himself. Technically speaking, she fell in love with him because of compassion he feels for himself. And I think the ratings clearly show people didn’t really enjoy watching Damon in a relationship with a more compliant version of himself. Anyway, their relationship would have made much more sense if Elena actually fell in love with him and chose to give him a chance when she was human. And yes, Elena never would have fallen in love with Damon while Stefan was still a viable option, which means Stefan would have to do something very bad for her to stop considering him a viable option and give Damon a chance. Not necessarily something that would make her stop loving him, but something that would make her stop considering him as a boyfriend material at that point in her life. I think Stefan’s character could have handled that since, after all, 150 years of making mistakes is what lead him to Elena in the first place. Her second mistake was making Elena enter a relationship with Damon less than 24 hours after breaking up with Stefan. And, as I see it, her ultimate mistake was trying to make Delena as “epic” as Stelena was. Look, I think we all knew Elena is going to end up with Damon at one point or another, and there were times when I was fine with that because I knew Damon was not the one for Elena, in any sense of the word, and vice versa. Damon was supposed to be a teaching moment for her. He was supposed to be that “just because fire is warm and cozy doesn’t mean you should throw yourself in it” metaphor. And somehow, writers became obsessed with making them amazing which they aren’t, nor do they have potential to be, because of who they are as individuals. And they do crazy shit as trying to convince us Elena had the same influence on Damon as Bonnie does. Elena was Damon’s pacifier when he started getting restless. She was there for him to take it out on her so he doesn’t take it out on anyone else. Elena was a willing victim for Damon’s demons, which probably saved a lot of lives and a lot of people from misery, but it did nothing to help Damon, and it certainly did nothing to help Elena. While Bonnie doesn’t put up with his sad excuses. She doesn’t lecture him like he’s 3 years old. She lets him make his own mistakes, and if those mistakes influence others, she makes him pay for it. When he does something good, she doesn’t pet him like he should receive an award for being a decent human being. Yet, she’s there for him. She admits he does some fucked up things without giving him speeches about how he can be better, because to her, Damon is just enough, including his faults. And that’s what made Damon better. One person who doesn’t constantly lecture him on how he needs to be fixed.

I honestly have nothing to say about the ending we are getting. I mean, I’m aware we are getting Steroline, Delena and Bonenzo. A friendship that should have stayed a friendship, a relationship that took a wrong turn, and whatever the fuck Bonenzo is.

But if you want me to come up with crazy theories on how Stelena could end up together, I can do that too.

Six months ago, a show came into our lives. A show that shows us the beginning of all the villains and heroes in Gotham City, even when they have no clue who they will become. Not Oswald of course. Cuz seriously, that dude knows what he wants and he knows he ain’t good either. I mean, who kills for a sandwich? A hungry Penguin, that’s who.
Besides Oswald, there’s the love-stricken Nygma who has the best ‘lateral’ jokes and finds disturbing crimes 'fascinating’. But you Still fall in love with him cuz he’s adorable. Even when he’s putting human parts in a locker to get the M.E fired. I have #NygmaFever every time I see him.
Then there’s Gordon and Bullock who I honestly wouldn’t mind being arrested by. They’re both sexy and Bullock’s facial hair deserves an award.
Then there’s Butch, whom I personally love because he’s like the Sam-wise Gamgee to Fish Mooney’s Frodo Baggins.
Let’s talk Fish Mooney. All she needs is one line.
“She took out her own eye with a spoon and squashed it with her foot.” There. Boom. Badass.
I really like Fish because I think for a woman surrounded by all those men, she really holds her own and she’s not afraid of getting what she wants. Besides, I think she woulda been a great Don.
There’s Bruce who melts my heart every time I see him. It makes me feel good just seeing my fave superhero at such a young and delicate age. But I also like seeing some of the little things that are gonna set him apart in the future as Batman.
There’s Alfred, who I think is the best Alfred yet. You see why he is Bruce’s most trusted friend. Also, he is not just a weak and well mannered butler either. He’s badass. The dude got shot and still came out kicking. And that accent…enough said.
Barbara has more hate now than anyone on the show. But I think there’s hope for her yet. After all, she’s Barbara Kean. You know what I mean?
Montoya and Crispus have been a little M.I.A for a while but I like them. Especially Montoya. Not just cuz she’s sexy but because she’s like Gordon. Not afraid to do the right thing. I think we should see more of her.
Let’s not forget Cat. Now Catwoman is my fave indecisive villain/hero. I say that cuz you know she can be bad and selfish like a cat. But also like a cat, she can be adorable and good..when she wants. I actually like seeing her so young and getting to see how she’s becomes so self efficient. I like the fact that she’s definitely not gonna become catwoman by being licked by cats.
Remember the Halle berry thing? Yeah.
Don Maroni and Don Falcone are really bad boys. Fact: Falcone killed a girl who reminded him of his mother with his bare hands. (She lied to him, but still)
Fact: Maroni tried to crush Oswald alive in a car. (He lied to him, but still.)
Don’t mess with the Dons.
Now I saved one of the best for last.
Victor Zsasz! Or as I call him 'Funky Town’.
I just love him. This dude is the epitome of psychotic. You just look at him and realize that if you were at the bus stop late in the night and you saw him walking towards you, you would run like a demon was chasing you. Yep, he’s that scary.

So whether you are a Riddlerette or Penguinette or Moonster or Zsaszette or the usual Gothamite, one of these people ,or like me, maybe all of them are your faves.
Now they have completely wrapped up shooting season 1 of #Gotham and this is just some things I wanted to share with you guys. I LOVE GOTHAM.

LALALALALALA wasn’t it cute how Glee ended with Klaine getting married and having a big NYC wedding where Kurt got June to use her connections to get Katy Perry to surprise Blaine by performing at their reception?

And it was so sweet how Blaine asked Mike Chang to be his best man (much to Cooper’s dismay) while Kurt had his best bestie Mercedes by his side during the wedding.

Oh and I loved Burt’s toast and it was great finally meeting Blaine’s parents and it was especially nice to see Blaine speaking Tagalog with them and discussing how Kurt was going to come visit Blaine’s extended family in the Philippines.

And we can’t forget the OTT glam-fabulous one-of-a-kind designer tuxes both Kurt and Blaine wore to the wedding. Plus their custom made Tiffany wedding rings. And didn’t you cry when Blaine surprised Kurt during their first dance by wearing his own “gay braveheart” kilt as he asked, “Excuse me, may I have this dance?” because Blaine is older now and even braver than he once was and he wants Kurt to know how much Kurt’s courage has inspired him.

And weren’t you shocked when Sugar Motta showed up to the wedding (with her BFF Joe in tow) and as her wedding present she gave them an all-expense paid trip around the world for their honeymoon just because she thinks they’re both adorable and Sugar is awesome like that.

And everyone cried when Kurt and Blaine sang “Come What May” together, and cheered when Blaine joined Kurt on the “Single Ladies” dance. Also, Blaine sang “Thinking Out Loud” to Kurt and Kurt sang “Unconditionally” to Blaine, all the while with the Warblers (Wes, David, Trent, Nick, and Jeff) and the New Directions (season 3 version + the “original” newbies) singing back-up.

And wasn’t it great how both Blaine and Kurt graduated from NYADA at the top of their respective classes and Kurt went on to become editor-in-chief at Vogue and also perform in a few critically acclaimed off-Broadway productions while Blaine went on to become an A-list movie star who starred in all of Artie’s Academy Award-Winning movies and even record some of the Grammy-winning soundtrack? (And also it was pretty cool when Rachel Berry won her first Tony for her role in Funny Girl and the first person she thanked was Kurt Hummel for being her inspiration and friend even when she was totally awful to him and from then on she was significantly nicer to him and never took him for granted ever again.)

Also Kurt and Blaine had kids and they never fought about anything ever again except for who loved the other more and which one of them needed to take little Hepburn and Tracy to ballet and piano class and who was going to get the snacks for their pee-wee soccer games. (They had long since hashed out all of their issues, Blaine regained his confidence, Kurt became a better listener, and they both became better communicators.)

And most importantly, nobody every set foot in McKinley High ever again and they all lived happily ever after. The end.

Maks and Meryl at VB meet and greet

Hi.  You just mentioned that you saw Maks worship Meryl at the VB meet and greet and SWDOI,  Can you describe what you saw at the VB meet and greet? I apologize if you have before, I must’ve missed it. Thx.

Well, let me put it this way.  Especially Maks would look at Meryl with to me was complete adoration.  Now she did also, but was more reserved.  But he absolutely worships the ground she walks on.  Now please, I am not saying that she does not adore him also, but he more looks like he wears his heart on his sleeve. Sorry, I am 64, so that is probably a saying of us old people.  But anyway, if they aren’t either in a relationship or at the very least absolutely adore each other, they need an academy award.

At SWDOI, I was sitting behind Tony, so could see the stage perfectly. From the time he walked out on stage and she came out on the ice, he never took his eyes off of her and had a huge grin on his face.  There is a picture of his grin on here somewhere.  Like I said to someone, it is a wonder his face didn’t crack from the HUGE grin.

Now remember, this is my personal opinion, but I am sure that others who saw them either there, at SWDOI, or at SWAY can vouch for this.
