the pencil factory

August 17, 2015, marks the 100th anniversary of the kidnapping and lynching of Leo Frank. He was supervisor of the National Pencil Factory in Atlanta and convicted on questionable evidence of murdering 13-year-old Mary Phagan. His lynching marked a time of Antisemitism in Atlanta and had a profound impact on the Atlanta Jewish community. Leo Frank is pictured here with his wife, Lucille.
