the odds are in your favor

‘The Princess Bride’ sentence meme

Send one to my muse for their reaction

  • “Sleep well. I’ll most likely kill you in the morning.”
  • “You’re trying to kidnap what I’ve rightfully stolen.”
  • “While you’re at it, why don’t you give me a nice paper cut and pour lemon juice on it?”
  • “They’re terribly comfortable. I think everyone will be wearing them in the future.”
  • “I can cope with torture.”
  • “Get used to disappointment.”
  • “You’ve made your decision then?”
  • “Frankly, I think the odds are slightly in your favor at hand fighting.”
  • “I would sooner destroy a stained glass window than an artist like yourself.”
  • “Am I going mad, or did the word “think” escape your lips?”
  • “Your vote of confidence is overwhelming.”
  • “I admit it, you are better than I am.”
  • “You never said anything about killing anyone.”
  • “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”
  • “You mock my pain!”
  • “Truly, you have a dizzying intellect.”
  • “Do you always begin conversations this way?”
  • “This is true love; you think this happens every day?”
  • “Australia is entirely peopled with criminals!”
  • “There’s not a lot of money in revenge.”
  • “You mean you wish to surrender to me? Very well, I accept.”
  • “Anyone who says differently is selling something.”
  • “Anybody want a peanut?”
  • “I do not envy you the headache you will have when you awake. But for now, rest well and dream of large women.”
  • “Death cannot stop true love. All it can do is delay it for a while.”
  • “The battle of wits has begun.”
  • “I wasn’t nervous. Maybe I was a little bit concerned, but that’s not the same thing.”
  • “We’ll never succeed. We may as well die here.”
  • “Please understand I hold you in the highest respect.”
  • “Isn’t there any way you trust me?”
  • “You’re trying to trick me into giving away something. It won’t work.”
  • “I’ll explain, and I’ll use small words so that you’ll be sure to understand, you warthog faced buffoon.”
  • “I told you I would always come for you. Why didn’t you wait for me?”
  • “I’m not saying I’d like to build a summer home here, but the trees are actually quite lovely.”
  • “You can die slowly, cut into a thousand pieces.”
  • “What hideous sin have you committed lately?”
  • “Yes, you’re very smart. Shut up.”
  • “There’s a shortage of perfect breasts in this world. It would be a pity to damage yours.”
  • “That doesn’t leave much time for dilly-dallying.”
  • “Where I come from, there are penalties when a woman lies.”
  • “It would be absolutely, totally, and in all other ways inconceivable.”
  • “I challenge you to a battle of wits.”
  • “Look, I don’t mean to be rude but this is not as easy as it looks, so I’d appreciate it if you wouldn’t distract me.”
  • “Do you hear that? That is the sound of ultimate suffering.”
  • “You be careful. People in masks cannot be trusted.”
  • “Please consider me as an alternative to suicide.”
But as long as you’ve given everything you’ve got and you’ve done the best you could do then it’s not a waste of time even if it’s not appreciated or reciprocated at all. Things don’t always turn out the way you want it to and the odds won’t always be in your favor. You’ll get hurt, you’ll cry and you’ll lose people in the process and that’s certain. But that is also okay, because the ones who definitely belong in your life will remain. And they will surely stay.
You can Call and/or Email your State’s Electors

So about this Electoral College, we all know the chances are slim but the gains are worth it and here’s how you can help push the odd in our favor—Especially if you’re from a state that swung for Trump narrowly and there are no prohibiting of “faithless” electors, such as these

Arizona (11 electoral votes [Dem lost by 5%])

Georgia (16 electoral votes [Dem lost by 5%])

Pennsylvania (!!!! 20 electoral votes [Dem lost by 1%])

Iowa (6 electoral votes [Dem lost by 10%])

The above states and Arkansas, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, North Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia all allow faithless electors! (If you have the chance, and so much is riding on this, please contact the electors in your state — I’ll put all the information below)

Unfortunately, Florida (29 electoral votes [Dem lost by 1%]), Michigan (16 electoral votes [Dem lost by 1%]), and North Carolina (15 electoral votes; where the KKK want to march to celebrate Donald Trump’s victory) there are state laws prohibiting these “faithless electors”

Your participation matters, Be polite and respectful and show them that America does not want Donald Trump in office. They can also abstain from voting, it’s all anonymous. A vote for Hillary is great, a vote for not Trump is also great.

so according to my vague recollection of stats:

seventeen has 13 members, and you have one bias, which means there’s a 12/13 chance you’ll get someone else’s PC. the formula, then, for the chance that you’ll get your bias’ photocard is 1-(12/13)^n, with n being the number of albums you intend to buy.

if you plan on buying three albums, you get a probability of .2134, or a 21.34% chance that you’ll get your bias’ photocard in at least one.

buy one? 7.69%. two? 14.79%. six? 38.14%.

having two biases is better than all of that - buy three albums and there’s a 39.42% chance you’ll get one of one of them. three biases tips the odds into your favor at 54.48%.

or you could just love all of seventeen equally and have a 100% chance of satisfaction, but math is more fun, isn’t it?

anonymous asked:

The Paladins s/o going on and on about how hot they are (when I say they I mean the Paladins)

Pidge: Pidge listens intently because if your building them up they’re fine with listening to you.

Shiro: Shiro gets really flustered and softly asks you to stop because his face is starting to resemble Keith’s lion.

Keith: Keith just gives you an odd smile before blacking out. He gets embarrassed really easily.

Lance: Lance agrees with everything you say and laughs a couple times before returning the favor by complimenting you.

Hunk: Hunk giggles a lot when he’s embarrassed so when you start complimenting him, Hunk gets really giddy.

Weapon/Ability: Strength
Up Against in the Finale: Joshua
- Knew the odds were in his favor when he found out he was up against Joshua.
- Knew he could win with strength alone, and so didn’t bother getting a weapon.
- Looked all over the place for Joshua, who was hiding because he knew he would lose in a fight against him.
- Found him hiding in a tree, and instead of climbing up, S.Coups created a forest fire, forcing Joshua to jump off.
- Chased after Joshua, and broke his neck when he caught up to him.

Weapon/Ability: Spear (Woozi’s), Trickery
Up Against in the Finale: Woozi
- Formed an alliance with Dino.
- Wanted him to win the Games. He was planning for the two of them to make it to the final round, and then let Dino win by killing himself.
- When Dino was killed by Woozi, Jeonghan sought revenge on him. He promised himself to win for Dino.
- He took Woozi’s spear, vowing to kill him with his very own weapon.
- Killed or betrayed anyone in his way to avenge Dino.
- Discovered somewhere along the way that if you throw something at the invisible force field, it makes a boomerang effect.
- During the final battle, when Woozi launched his sword at him and purposely missed, Jeonghan knew what he was planning. The sword hit the force field, and when it came flying back towards him, he ducked at the last second, and it stabbed Woozi.
- Meant to kill Woozi with his spear, but still succeeded in killing Woozi with his own weapon.
- Fulfilled his promise to Dino.

Weapon/Ability: Survival and Treatment Skills
Up Against in the Finale: S.Coups
- He and S.Coups woke up to a forest fire created by the Gamemakers.
- They ran for their lives, but S.Coups was suddenly struck by a fireball and engulfed in flames.
- Didn’t notice this because he was so focused on finding a way out.
- Found himself all alone when he did manage to escape, his eyes widening in realization when he heard the sound of a cannon.
- Didn’t kill anyone while he was in the Games.

Weapon/Ability: Spear, Hand-to-Hand Combat, Identifying Edible Plants
Up Against in the Finale: The8
- Tricked The8 into believing they were friends, but only used him as a stepping stone to get to the Finale.
- Kept him alive until the end because he knew he could defeat him.
- Initiated the final battle between the two by breaking The8’s staff in half, leaving him with no weapon.
- Severely injured The8, who couldn’t bring himself to hurt his friend.
- Will never forget the look of betrayal on The8’s face before he made the final blow.
Weapon/Ability: Knives, Climbing
Up Against in the Finale: DK
- Formed an alliance with DK.
- They became good friends, but he knew only one of them could live.
- They told each other they would battle in the morning.
- But Hoshi planned to end it that night, and waited for DK to fall asleep.
- Saw a Tracker Jackers nest hanging on a branch of a nearby tree. Climbed the tree and cut the branch with his knife, whispering an apology to his friend.
- Covered his eyes when the nest hit the ground and stung DK to death.

Weapon/Ability: Crossbow, Hiding
Up Against in the Finale: Mingyu
- Formed an alliance with Mingyu.
- His envy got the better of him.
- Mingyu was a Capitol favorite, spoiled by Sponsors and had everyone rooting for him. Wonwoo never received anything from Sponsors, and was often forgotten by the watchers.
- When Mingyu received yet another gift from his Sponsors, Wonwoo had enough.
- Wonwoo killed the third to last Tribute, then shot Mingyu from behind with his crossbow upon returning to their campsite.

Weapon/Ability: Spear (formerly), Sword (presently), Strategy
Up Against in the Finale: Jeonghan
- Set up a trap for animals, but Dino got trapped in it instead. Decided to stab him, and in front of Jeonghan.
- Wasn’t caught or killed because Jeonghan didn’t have a weapon at that time.
- Got his spear taken by Jeonghan, and so found his way back to the Cornucopia to get a new weapon. Decided on a sword.
- Discovered that when you throw something at the invisible force field, it makes a boomerang effect.
- During the final battle, he launched his sword at Jeonghan and purposely missed. The sword hit the force field, then came flying back and stabbed Jeonghan’s back.

Weapon/Ability: Crossbow, Traps
Up Against in the Finale: Hoshi
- Formed an alliance with Hoshi.
- Never wanted it to end up like this.
- Knew he had to bring an end to the Games, so he built a huge trap overnight and went back to the Cornucopia to get a weapon. Decided on a crossbow.
- The next morning, he hid in the trees and watched Hoshi wander around aimlessly looking for him.
- When Hoshi fell into his trap, he held up his crossbow and fired.
- The only person he killed was his friend.

Weapon/Ability: Identifying Edible Plants
Up Against in the Finale: Wonwoo
- Won by accident.
- Formed an alliance with Wonwoo.
- Gathered a bunch of plants and berries to eat because he was the one in charge of food.
- Was going to separate the poisonous from the non-poisonous, but came back to find Wonwoo unconscious after eating Nightlock.
- Begged for him to wake up, but all he got in return was the sound of a cannon.

Weapon/Ability: Staff, Wushu
Up Against in the Finale: Jun
- Gamemakers announced that there was a Feast at the Cornucopia that would help prepare the last two Tributes for the final battle.
- Didn’t know who he was up against.
- Went to the Cornucopia to grab an extra weapon, only to dodge a spear thrown at him at the last second.
- Looked up to see Jun with another spear in hand standing at the top of the Cornucopia. He jumped off, and the two battled each other.
- Wolf Mutts were released into the Arena, and The8 successfully managed to vault himself onto the roof of the Cornucopia with his staff.
- Jun tried to jump onto it too, but while hanging onto the edge, The8 crushed his hands with his staff, making him release his grip and fall. The Wolf Mutts ripped him to shreds.

Weapon/Ability: Bow & Arrow, Tactics
Up Against in the Finale: Vernon
- Formed an alliance with Vernon.
- They became good friends.
- Originally wanted to win to return to his family, but after learning about Vernon’s little sister, he was having second thoughts.
- Knew it was the end when the Gamemakers released Wolf Mutts.
- He and Vernon ran all the way to the Cornucopia to climb onto it for safety.
- Vernon helped him get onto the roof, but when Seungkwan reached out a hand to help him, it was too late.
- The Wolf Mutts dragged Vernon down, and proceeded to brutally attack him and tear him to pieces.
- Shot an arrow at him to end his suffering, winning the Games.
- Cried at the sight of his dead friend. This wasn’t how he wanted it to end.

Weapon/Ability: Bow & Arrow
Up Against in the Finale: Seungkwan
- Volunteered to save his little sister.
- Formed an alliance with Seungkwan.
- Lied by telling him that his parents were dead and that his sister would be alone if he died so that Seungkwan would take pity on him and not kill him.
- His plan worked.
- Vernon planted bombs all around the Cornucopia, making footprint marks to remind himself where they were.
- Told Seungkwan to go back to the Cornucopia to get weapons so that they can both finish off the two other Tributes.
- Actually found and killed them last night when Seungkwan was sleeping.
- Followed Seungkwan to the Cornucopia, and shot an arrow at one of the bombs he planted, creating a huge explosion.
- Underestimated the size of the explosion and got injured, but won the Games.

Weapon/Ability: Slingshot, Speed
Up Against in the Finale: Jeonghan
- He and Jeonghan made it to the final round of the Games.
- Dino stayed behind while Jeonghan left to go get them food.
- He never came back.
- Dino went to search for him, and found him lying on the ground unconscious with Nightlock in his hand. And only the sound of a cannon resounded in his ears.
- Jeonghan sacrificed himself to let Dino win.
- Dino never forgot about him.

i’m sorry thank you for your request!!

Cable vs Deadpool: May the odds be ever in your favor!

Before Cable & Deadpool were a comic book marriage pairing team-up, they were blood enemies!

Let’s recount their not so endless battles.

Let the best man prevail!

Round 1!  New Mutants #98 (pages 12-18)

Cable gets some good hits in, but Deadpool is sweeping the floor with him and the New Mutants  until … ding ding ding!

Domino wins!

[V2 Deadpool #17, page 9, panel modified]

Round 2!  X-Force #15 (pages 6-10)

Cable knocks Deadpool down and out, but Deadpool returns almost immediately to put Cable on the ground for the killing blow until … ding ding ding!

Domino wins!

[V2 Deadpool #17, page 9, panel modified]

Round 3!  V1 Deadpool #22 (pages 10-12, 15-16, 18-21)

After having been nearly defeated the last two rounds and then rescued by Domino, Cable is sulking.

Deadpool, meanwhile, has lost all sense of self-respect.

[V2 Deadpool #22, page 7]

They don’t even fight in the house like real foes.  No, this time, they’re hiding out where Domino can’t find them!

Then they fight.

Not exactly an epic battle.  They both get a few blows in.  Deadpool has the advantage in the hit count until … ding ding ding!

Cable wins?

… by knocking the box off Deadpool’s head.

Cable, your dignity is NOT restored.

You just fought a guy with a box on his head.

You BETTER have freaking won that fight.

Then they talk each other to death don’t shut up fight with words for four pages.  It’s all very anime and manly.

Despite Deadpool’s natural advantage with regards to talking … ding ding ding!

Cable wins!

Finally!  I thought he would never win.

He even gets the last word.

Final Scoring:  Domino Wins!

Cable is lucky he has Domino to protect him.

[V2 Deadpool #17, page 9, panel modified]
