Work in progress for the anniversary of my all-time favorite album, Adventure by Madeon! This is going to be one of the most complex and detailed things I’m ever going to draw.
So excited, can’t wait for the 30th!
A short comic because I rediscovered The Magic Flute recently, and the parallels between it and the Sun and Moon plot were too good to pass up.
Plus I wanted to do something for my favourite Alola characters. Hau’s such a great guy - just this endless fount of positivity and joie de vivre. (Hell, he’s excited to lose to you!) He embodies this idea that life is an adventure, and you’re the hero who has to grow and learn in it.
Be brave, be defiant, be happy; because life is far more epic than you think it is.
So, I came across these pictures again and it made me realize that the thing that I love the most about them is that they’re actually canon. That thought makes me so happy because it makes me think of all the cute and dorky pictures Laura has (most likely) persuaded Carm into taking with her lol.
Like I can just imagine Carm sitting on a chaise lounge, reading her book, and Laura comes in to sit next to her and says how they should “document their adventures” or that she wants to update her account for her viewers. And Carm (after some mild complaining on how pointless it is) reluctantly agrees to be in them. And Laura is all excited in the pictures while Carm just casually looks at the camera and broods.
However, I also like to think that when they’re alone and Carm drops her walls with Laura, that when she decides to take pictures (just for them) that Carm is more open and authentic in them. Like she’ll genuinely smile and be warm towards her in pictures. Like with this one:
“I do wish you were here with us. It’s been such an adventure, but nothing like our times in Narnia. America is very exciting, except we never see Father. He works so very hard. I was invited to the British Consul’s tea party this week by a naval officer, who happens to be very handsome. I think he fancies me. It seems the Germans have made the crossing difficult right now. Times are hard. Mother hopes you both won’t mind another few months in Cambridge.”
people are telling me the book that home was based on is actually good which makes me sad
but i think the movie adaptation was dead from the start as soon as they cast sheldor to be the alien. then the plotline, pacing, and most jokes in the movie were a complete mess. its really unfortunate because everyone was so excited to have poc girl as a main character in an animated adventure movie but like, poc deserved a better movie than…this,,
nina: We started out as fetuses. Now we are women. The trips, adventures, and laughter I have shared with these beautiful souls makes me tear with joy. I love them more than I could ever explain or begin to put into words. Each of these photos is from season 1. We were all so young, and SO excited about the new and exciting show we had booked. And even more excited that we got to be a part of it together. It felt like we had this awesome little secret, no one had seen Vampire Diaries yet. But we couldn’t wait to spill the beans, for the pilot to air so people could see it. We hoped so much that people would like it. Prayed that it would be a success and continue for many years. We got our wish. 8 seasons later, some are engaged, some married and some have fetuses of their own. These are incredible women and forces to be reckoned with. I’m so proud of you all. #FlowerPower #TVDForever
🌟🌿🍉🍊🍓🍆 Let’s make this New Year about abundance, health, becoming our BEST selves & bringing some more colour into our own lives, and the lives of those around us!
I honestly can’t believe how quickly this year’s gone by. It’s been a particularly tough one for me and I just wanted to take this time to thank all of my family, friends + each one of YOU for your endless support, love and inspiration. I am so lucky to have you all in my life.
I’m not a big believer in New Years resolutions because, to me, the right time to start something is always right now. But I’m setting some intentions for 2017: To put more energy into positive thoughts, self growth and self love, as well as my health, strength and fitness. And most of all, focus on living in the NOW. I’m excited about all the new opportunities & adventures that 2017 holds.
I thought this little quote summed up my thoughts perfectly ~ ‘Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right.'✨✨ I’d love to hear what you’re focusing on this next year? Here’s to making this next year the best yet. Let’s FLOURISH💛 xx
So I was thinking about this moment in “Ides of March” when Gabrielle was talking to Xena all about how She saved her:
“Xena, you’ve brought out the best in me… Before I met you, no one saw me for who I was. I felt… Invisible. But you saw all the things I could be. You saved me Xena.”
Now, let’s all look back at who Gabrielle was in episode 1 when we first met her. She seemed so optimistic, this doe-eyed young woman who was excited to go on this adventure with Xena; “teach me everything you know!” She seemed so innocently positive about the world, naive even.
Yet, in Ides of March, Gabrielle describes her life back then as empty, hollow… She felt completely invisible. No one even knew who she really was on the inside.
As someone who suffers with depression and anxiety, God do I relate to this. Feeling completely awful on the inside but having this veneer of fake happiness around me so that people wouldn’t be able to tell that I was dying inside. I can’t possibly trust anyone to actually see the person I am… What if they think I’m weak? Or that I’m not worth their time? With a bubbly facade, I can be well liked right?
“That’s what we all dream about isn’t it? Someone that looks so deeply into our soul that they’d find something worth dying for.”
Gabrielle, a soul in turmoil, crying out for a hero… Someone to see her for who she was, and accept everything about her, the darkness and light. The good and the bad.
A Not-so-White Christmas (Tony Stark Holiday One-shot)
Hi, lovelies!! I just love the Holiday season and I am so freaking excited about all the Christmas fics floating around! You are all amazing and I can’t wait to read all of them! I’m still working on finding balance after hiatus so bear with me.
This fic was written in honor of the birth of the lovely Amberly, aka @marvelingatthewonder . Happy Birthday, my darling!! I hope you have a wonderful day!! I love you! :)
This was also written in tandem with Create Your Own Adventure stories by the other Avengers Trash Tower ladies. You can see the beginning and their fics HERE.
The two months preceding Christmas flew by entirely too quickly. You busied yourself, caught up in the holiday spirit as you were shopping, movie watching, and enjoying Pumpkin Spice-flavored everything which then was followed by Peppermint-flavored everything. This was your favorite time of year and you just had a feeling that this was going to be the best Holiday season yet.
But here you found yourself on Christmas Eve in the mostly-empty tower with a gloomy expression upon your face. Not exactly how you had planned it.
The entire city sprawled before you, a spectacular view visible through the floor to ceiling windows of Stark Tower in the heart of New York City. Slumped in a comfy chair in the common room, you propped your head up with a hand under your cheek, a mournful sigh escaping your lips. It was a beautiful view, for certain, but not the one you wanted. Well…not quite.
2016 has come to a close! While it was riddled with terrible world events, I still look back fondly on a year that brought me so much– a wonderful scholarship, a fantastic first semester of college with new friends and adventures, and amazing writing opportunities. I’m determined to make 2017 even better, and can’t wait for so many things. I’ll be singing in Carnegie Hall, and staying for a month in Athens, Greece. Who knows what else is in store?
Anyway, I’m also ridiculously excited for all the incredible books releasing in 2017. Here they are, in chronological order:
1. THE UPSIDE OF UNREQUITED by Becky Albertalli: April 11th//Becky Albertalli broke into the YA business with a bang in 2015 with her debut novel, Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda– one of my all time favorites. I’m so so psyched to read another hilarious and heartfelt story about lovesick high schoolers.
1. THE DARK PROPHECY by Rick Riordan (The Trials of Apollo #2): May 2nd//If I could, god forbid, only read one of the books on this list, this would be it. I was thrilled to find out my favorite series got (ANOTHER) five book extension, and The Hidden Oracle did not disappoint. I’m looking forward to continuing Apollo’s quest alongside Leo and Calypso!
3. LORD OF SHADOWS by Cassandra Clare (The Dark Artifices #2): May 23rd//While I hated The Mortal Instruments and moderately enjoyed The Infernal Devices, it wasn’t until Lady Midnight that I really got invested in the Shadowhunter world. Emma and Julian’s dilemma and the whole cast of characters are absolutely addictive, and I need to know what happens next.
4. NOW I RISE by Kiersten White (The Conquerors Saga #2): June 27th//I got the wonderful opportunity to meet Kiersten at a writers retreat in August, and she talked a lot about her new historical retelling of Vlad the Impaler, And I Darken. So of course, I bought it, devoured it, and loved it. Such an interesting glimpse into the complicated history of the Turkish and Ottoman empires, complete with some of the most interesting character relationships I’ve ever read. White did a knockout job with this one, and plus, she hailed my cab for me, so there’s that.
5. THRONE OF GLASS BOOK 6 by Sarah J Maas: September 5th//Though I do have my problems with this series, I’m in way too deep and need to know how Aelin and her band of followers resolve this insane war in the grand finale to the Throne of Glass series.
6. THE SHIP OF THE DEAD by Rick Riordan (Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard #3): October 2nd//This Norse-inspired trilogy is unbelievable in its authenticity of characters, gripping storylines, and hilarious moments. It’s such a wonderful world to adventure in, and the characters are so special to me. It’s going to be a knockout finale, and let’s be real, we all just want to read Alex and Magnus becoming canon.
When I was a kid, I got lost very often. Like in the department stores. I was always at the child-care area or something. I remember that very clearly. It was like “Ah, I got separated…”.I got separated… But I was excited & I kind of enjoyed it.Somehow, it’s like you’ve ventured into an unknown world, like an adventure, so it’s kind of fun! I remember these experiences very clearly. I’ll be like “Where is the toy store?” And when I can’t stand it anymore, I’ll just go up to a shop assistant and say “Excuse me, I’m a lost child”. And then I’ll be taken to the child-care area/lost kids station.
A/N: SO I was browsing through my prompt listiee thinking of which to write first when @quickwitted-kiwi approached me with a lovely idea for Hinata’s bathroom-prompt.
Talking about it, we changed the lers but the concept is same and all in all Hinata’s gonna get the tickles at his favorite place of places. Hope the anon and all of you still like it~!
Summary: Takes place after the finals! After beating Shiratorizawa, Hinata is so excited he wants to call his mom and let Natsu know. He retreats to the bathroom to make his phone call, which is gonna be his mistake of the century. Running into both Ushijima and Tendou is one thing, but having them gang up on him out of the blue…?
Word Count: 1769
“Come on guys, good work today! We’ll be off to eat our stomachs full! We deserve it!” Karasuno was gathering around their bags, collecting their stuff and getting ready to leave this amazing experience of beating Shiratorizawa behind them.
Hinata could feel the adrenaline remain in his body. They won. They won! He had to tell everyone! He had to tell Kenma, and oh God he had to tell his mom!
Reaching for his phone he looked at his laughing team mates, and he sweated a little at the thought of calling his mother with them here. But he had to give her the message to tell Natsu they fucking won the game! Alright, this asked for a quick bathroom visit.
“G-guys wait for me, I need to go to the bathroom for a bit okay?” he asked, doing his trademark dance which he always did when he needed to pee.
“Can’t you go at the restaurant?” Kageyama asked, but Hinata had already turned around and ran away.
“Noooope!” On his way to the bathroom, he smiled and dialed his mother’s number.
“Yes mom. We won, we won! Can you believe it? Tell Natsu her brother’s heading for the Spring High Tournament! And then NATIONALS!” he barely let his mother finish her excited reactions, and he entered the abandoned bathroom.
The match was finished and most people were preparing to leave. Finally some peace and quiet in the bathroom, and he happily finished his phone call while he stood at the sink and checked his own face in the mirror. His cheeks were still red with excitement, and this cheeky everlasting grin on his face? Ohohoh.
“Yeah yeah! I scored too! A lot! And you know what - these Shiratori-guys are monsters! They kept going like bwaammm and booomm and you know what mom? We still beat them. We beat the monsters! We - eeepp!” The shriek that escaped his lips was anything but humane, and he froze completely in shock.
In the reflection he could see Ushijima walk out of one of the bathroom stalls behind him, and he immediately dropped his phone at his side.
“U-U-Ushiwaka…” Hinata slowly turned around, his shaking finger clicking away his call with his mother after which he shoved his phone into his pocket, his hand getting sweaty in less than three seconds.
“Monsters hm?” Ushijima mumbled in his low voice.
“I’M SORRY!” Hinata shrieked and ran towards the door, where he bumped into a tall figure that just entered.
“Oh. Satori,” he heard Ushijima say, and he looked up in surprise. Satori?
“Number 5!” Hinata blurted out when he recognized the guy who had been his scary opponent only minutes ago, and he backed away, bumping right into Ushijima who was still behind him. Shit shit shit. What was with him and bathroom encounters? This was the worst!
