Trump went after sanctuary cities. New York assembly responded by voting to be a sanctuary state.

  • Less than two weeks after Trump signed an executive order outlawing so-called “sanctuary cities,” New York’s Democrat-controlled state Assembly passed a bill to make New York a “sanctuary state.”
  • The bill aims to prohibit the detention of undocumented immigrants in New York without a standing warrant from a judge.
  • The bill now advances to the state Senate, which is controlled by a coalition of Republicans and right-leaning Democrats.
  • The Republican state Senate leader said on Tuesday that he didn’t expect the body to even vote on the bill. Read more

New York State Assembly expected to pass bill to bring single payer health care to Empire State

  • On Tuesday, the New York State Assembly is scheduled to vote on Assembly Bill A4738, a bill that, if signed into law, would make the state the first in the nation to give its residents single-payer health care.
  • Just as it did in 2015 and 2016, the measure is expected to easily pass the assembly by an overwhelming majority. And just as it did for the past two years, the bill has a difficult road ahead in the New York Senate.
  • But this year, the bill has already won a crucial victory: For the first time ever, the move to bring single-payer to the state of New York has been cosponsored by every single member of the Independent Democratic Caucus. Read more (5/16/17)

Now that I’m thinking about the disparity between Sam and rhodey’s opinions….

Rhodey is extremely well-educated and it’s backed up by more than one piece of evidence. Not only did he go to MIT and get his degree, but he actually made it into the air force officer ranks, AND he’s high-ranking. (Also that thick-ass threat analysis, I have not forgotten that)

He’s been the stark industries liaison officer for years, which means he’s extremely competent at his job and the military is nervous about having him train someone else and moving him out of that slot. (This can be partially attributed to his friendship with tony, but not completely. If he didn’t get shit done, they wouldn’t keep him there.)

To be frank, I know a lot of airmen who would kill for a superior that competent.

Which begs the question: why is sam so quick to disagree with him in cacw and write off his opinion?

Is it because he’s grating under that itch to revert to military customs and curtesies after so long in the civilian world? Did he have an exceptionally bad commander or made a whole succession of bad commanders who made him write off officers as a whole? Is it because rhodey is tony’s friend, and sam doesn’t like tony or thinks he’s only agreeing with tony out of loyalty instead of a good grasp of the terrain?

Or did something happen before cacw, when cap and widow were assembling their new team? Was there friction between cap and rhodes due to cap being the leader and rhodey being higher-ranking with a lot more modern-world experience? Did rhodey take wanda to task at some point and cap didn’t like that and sam stuck to steve’s side loyally?

Venezuela

The world needs to know what is happening in Venezuela right now. As many of you might know, Venezuela is been in a dictatorship for more than 15 years and it’s only getting worse. After Chavez’ dead, Nicolas Maduro unconstitutionally took the place as the president and things has been getting worse since then. In 2013, the start of the big protests in Venezuela more than 200 people (mostly students between the age of 16 and 21) all over the country were arrested, the majority of those protesting were hurt by guns, bird shots and teargas resulting in the dead of many of them (again, not even older than 25). All of those attacks are from the government itself to try and repress the population from voicing their constitucional rights. Venezuela is been suffering since then a huge humanity crisis that are also the reasons for the protests. There’s not medicine in the hospitals and pharmacies, kids are basically dying from lack of resources. We can’t afford to have basic necessities such as toilet paper because there’s a huge scarcity in products of first necessity. There’s not food, and those who can afford to buy them need to spent a lot of money that the normal salary can’t cover, in fact, our salary doesn’t even afford us to have a nice diner at a restaurant. Our inflation is the highest in the world and the devaluation of our coin keeps getting even worst. There’s families/kids eating out of garbage. We have constants blackouts. The insecurity in our country is one of the worst, trust me, many Venezuelans are afraid to go outside on a certain hour, most Venezuelans have been victims of some robbery. In fact, many localities close at 6pm due to insecurity. My own mother was assaulted with guns at least 3 times in less time. Universities also suffer from insecurity. We can’t even talk about this because the government forcibly closed, censored or took out of circulation our only sources of information. The national channels don’t even speak about the protests or necessities suffered in the country because they want to brain wash those in vulnerable positions. Recently CNN was taken out of circulation in our country so the only way we can watch the news is due internet, that at this rate might be even controlled as well. There’s also a huge problem of indoctrination, the public employees get forced to attempt to political events held by the government and if they don’t they get fired, it happened to the father of a friend of mine and thousands of others.

A month ago, Nicolas Maduro proclaimed a law and eliminate the rights that constitutionally belong to the National Assembly (also known as Parliament), the National Assembly that is mostly directed by the opposition party voted by the majority of Venezuelans is the one (as stated in the constitution) in charge of making, eliminate and change laws which also protect the citizens, with this new law, the assembly can’t do their job because all their proceedings were given to the President (which means he can do what he wants with not repercussions) and to the Justice system, an unreliable source because all the public institutions in Venezuela are corrupted by this system and have done nothing but turn their back of the citizens and their rights such as the Electoral System (CNE) that has actively participated in the frauds created by the government in the voting procedures & failed to re-count votes when asked to. We don’t even have the security of a good police and military organization because like the public institutions they only obey this dictatorship government and their follow the orders to kill, torture and persecute those students, political activists and any one proclaiming their right to pacifically protest as it’s stated in the constitution.

This last few days there’s been various protests around the country and things aren’t that different from 2013. Students are getting arrested and beaten in hands of the police and national military. Just today, April 10, there’s been 3 deaths (kids younger than 20 years old), and there’s over 400 arrests all around the country were the majority are minors. The police and military (GNB - Guardia Nacional Bolivariana) has been repressing students with expired teargas, bird shots and actual guns without any disregard for the citizens. Hospital has been affected, many people including babies. ALL OF THIS is happening RIGHT NOW. There’s literal kids being killed on the streets for protesting against a dictatorship government. Please take a look at this Instagram account: @venezuelalucha, this accounts has been posting the videos about all of this attacks and some of them might be triggering but is the reality of the country.

A government that wants to held power in any means possible including going against the constitution is a dictatorship. Those who need to suppress, kill, repress and persecute the citizens for protesting against them it’s a clear example of lack of human rights. Spread the world about what is happening around the world. Kids should NOT be killed and assault for protesting. This needs to be an international issue because this is a clear example of violation of human rights and the international media needs to be aware of this.

Venezuela is a war zone right now.

a Fatal_Error has Occurred: Chapter One - Part 3 (½)

Read The Beginning

Previous <—–> Next

Time to explore some things about Fatal that we didn’t know before ;)

I know this is a short update, but hear me out please:

I thought about it some more and I’m going to try breaking up the updates for a little bit. Each part of the comic will have the intended amount of pages that would normally be posted every other week, but now you’ll get to see new comic updates every week, just in smaller doses. I’m gonna try this way for maybe a week or two and make a decision from there. Thanks for being so patient with me as I try to figure out a viable schedule for these updates <3

This update is supposed to be about 6 pages long but I’m at like…4.5 pages done, so to keep ya’ll from waiting I’ll release half now and half a little later this week, if that’s alright? Let’s see how this goes :)

PLEASE READ AND HELP US I know this doesn’t have to do with all of the posts I regularly post, but I need you to know what’s happening in my country, and before you start reading what I want to say I would like to apologize in case I misspell something, soooo…. Here I go.
I live in Venezuela, a small country located north of South America, we are nice, warm, exciting people, but since 1998 everything has fall. The government of Hugo Chavez took power in that year and our country has never been the same since “el chavismo” took over our lives.
Let me explain it to you, we live in a dictatorship, where our elections are compromised, where we CANT find ANY food, medication, construction materials NOTHING, our media has been shot down and we don’t even have channels on the tv that speaks the truth and really tells us what’s happening.
People is dying because they are hungry, because they are sick, because they are homeless and the government just act like NOTHING is happening while actually EVERYTHING is. The military defends the government, why? We just don’t know, they choose to protect an small group of bad people either than defend their own brothers.
On December 6th 2015, we, Venezuelans voted for the new National Assembly and thanks to God we won, but dictatorship is a dictatorship is a dictatorship and on April 6th of this year 2017 the government decided to override ALL the power of the assembly that us, Venezuelans, choose, and since that day pacific concentrations all around the country started, people no matter what age or sex have been staying in the streets for days, only hoping that their actions motivates other people to do the same.
But these people has been assaulted by the militia, throwing them toxic gas and shooting them just to keep our voices shut, but we are not going to stop, because now our scream for freedom is louder than ever. 28 kills in 20 days, most of them were students, today my friend died and tomorrow I’m going to take the street and fight for my country.

hope you enjoy!!

It was very weird to have Joe away from you. Sure, you two were apart sometimes, usually for work, but he didn’t go on holidays very often, so going back to an empty bed at night was quite odd for you. You had to remind yourself not to go to his office and try to coax him away from his computer and into bed. He had only been gone for a few days, but the flat felt so empty without him that it felt like a lifetime. You had done your best to let him have his fun with his mates from back home; it was Ben’s stag-do and Joe rarely got to see him alone, much less all his old friends at once.

He had been really good about checking in and sending you lots of pictures, showing you that he missed you too. He even managed to sneak in a facetime call between the bars they were going to, and it warmed your heart to see him on your phone screen.

However, his little reminders didn’t keep you busy at home for long. You had spent the whole of the last few days deep cleaning the whole flat, washing all the sheets and remaking the beds, unpacking a few boxes of stuff that just needed to be put away, and even assembling a new table that arrived for the guest room just to keep yourself busy in your down time. Still, you found yourself bored without Joe beside you. So to say you were excited to have him back home was an understatement. You answered on the first ring when he called that evening.

“Hi!”

“Ello love, we’ve just landed, I’m getting off the plane in a few minutes and then I’ll catch an uber home!” He updated you, and he sounded a bit tired, but also happy to be back on the ground.

“Okay! I can’t wait to see you!”

“Same here. Do you want me to pick up a Waga’s on my way in? I can’t be bothered to cook.”

“I can order it and then you can just come straight home,” you said a bit too quickly. You heard him chuckle into the speaker.

“Baby, it’s on the way and it’ll take five minutes. I’ll call it ahead so that it’s quick and then I’ll be home as soon as I can.” You could hear the smile in his voice, and it made you blush. You always got overexcited to see him, and he thought it was the cutest things. You were still shy about it, because a few of your exes had found it annoying.

“No, you don’t have to call ahead, don’t rush. Sorry to be pushy, I just miss you,” you mumbled.

“Hey, none of that, nothing to apologize for. I like pushy, and I miss you too. Were about to get off the plane, so I gotta go. I’ll see you soon. Love you.”

“Love you too. Hurry!”

And with that he hung up, and you began to wait again.

Okay. @stydiajeep or something like that requested this a LOOONG time ago. (apologises if I tagged you for nothing) I haven’t forgotten and this pic inspired me. And an anon requested something about a glutton boyfriend. Let’s hope this tied together as well as I hoped. Here it goes, I love you so much. Thanks for the request.

Also- thanks to @wiccanthrope for helping to provide the proper circumstances for me to remember I had this request floating around.

Warnings: It’s long af. Food porn. Real porn. I may have inherited @lilshitwayne‘s clean fetish so we’ll see. Phew- let’s get into it.

You stood on the sidelines waving your pom poms and cheering loudly as your boyfriend, Theo had scored a touchdown, winning Beacon Hills the championship. He looked over and shot you a wink as his teammates all flocked him, it’d be impossible to get to him now. Not while they were hoisting him onto their shoulders as he held the trophy. Thank God that they’d won, you thought.

Demonstrations against Venezuela’s President Maduro’s government in Caracas

Venezuela’s opposition blocked streets in Caracas on Tuesday to denounce a decision by unpopular leftist President Nicolas Maduro to create a new super-body known as a “constituent assembly,” a move critics say is a veiled attempt to cling to power by avoiding elections.

After a month of near-daily protests by opponents demanding early general elections, Maduro announced on Monday he planned to set up a new popular assembly with the ability to rewrite the constitution. Some 29 people have been killed, more than 400 people have been injured and hundreds more arrested since the anti-Maduro unrest began in early April.

The government has responded with shows of force by security forces and counter-demonstrations by Maduro supporters. At least 13 people were killed and 37 injured when a bus crashed while carrying state workers back to Bolivar state after a May Day rally organized by the government, according to the state governor.

While many details remain unclear about the constituent assembly, Maduro said political parties would not participate and that only up to half of its 500 members would be elected. (Reuters)
