Many people have asked me about sheet music for “Love Like You”. Here’s the handwritten piano lead sheet that I use whenever I perform it. The time signature is ¾ and the key is Eb Major.

My notation is not standard! I customized this around my own understanding of musical patterns. For example, I am using bars to divide between chords/sections of the song instead of a fixed number of beats. Feel free to customize your own copy, too!

the gayest moments (of bts’ history) part 2

(here it is, the long awaited, highly requested and probably super terrible list)

  • So starting off from Danger, there are lots of consistent motifs that in later music videos arguably are used for the storylines between particular members for example the piano which links jungkook and yoongi (and later jimin too because of the lie short film); a lot of the imagery surrounding the piano just has a relationship-ish vibe (see the vcr from the wings tour and the fact they play it together in run)
  • Ayo ladies AND gentlemen from Dope……………… bi icons if I ever saw them
  • Look up the hyyh pt 1 and 2 photos, the ones of Jimin and J-Hope lying on the floor and the ones with Jimin and Jungkook in the field in particular… gay
  • In I Need U there is a scene where Namjoon and Taehyung are lying on the ground with their arms around one another (bonus gay: tae said ‘we’re on a date’ and namjoon said ‘so romantic’ as they were filming it)
  • In the aforementioned moment, the lyric at the same time is ‘it is my heart mind, emotion/ but don’t listen to my words’ - gay if you ask me
  • In the scenes of I Need U towards the end, Yoongi and Jungkook hug and Jimin and J-Hope play around and…….. gay
  • In the prologue, Jungkook blows out Yoongi’s flame………… there’s a metaphor there somewhere…………. it’s gay
  • I can’t put my finger on why but the scene where Jungkook is sitting on the peer and Yoongi joins him has such a quiet poignance to it and even before I knew much about bts when I first saw it, it felt very gay to me like the shot sequence and how it’s edited/shot very much makes it feel like a scene where maybe Jungkook has just come out to Yoongi or something it just has that vibe
  • Lollipops feature heavily in….. lots of music videos but…. we’ll talk about why they’re gay when we get to blood sweat and tears
  • The shot of J-Hope and Jimin lying back in the feathers in run……..
  • Suga’s motel in I Need U has a couple of points to raise - the possibility that it’s Jungkook’s shirt in the background, and also the suggestion that its maybe the same motel you can see in the JPN version of bs&t and also possibly the motel in spring day
  • There’s a really interesting choice with the editing towards the end of the 19+ version of run where it parallels through transitions, Tae with the bottle and his dad and him having fun with Namjoon, smiling, clutching onto his arm it gives me……. thoughts
  • When Namjoon and Tae get chased by the police in Run, the lyric is ‘this is a fool, crazy in love, chasing in circles’…. bit romantic if you ask me
  • also just… the look Taehyung gives Namjoon when they’re caught by the police
  • And the look Hobi gives Jimin when he wakes up to see him
  • I don’t think it’s specifically being referenced at all but a lot of the motifs used during the hyyh era are similar motifs used in the game Life Is Strange (which has a f/f plot basically) - cameras, butterfly effect, whales, water, etc. like once you notice them you keep seeing them
  • In Run, the transition from Hobi falling asleep backwards to where they’re all sitting in the field with Hobi on Jimin’s lap and Tae on Namjoon’s stomach, the lyric is ‘memories crumble like dried flower petals/at the tip of my fingers, under my feet, right behind your back’…… idk about you but sounds gay to me
  • (the people in the cars are heterosexuality)
  • When Yoongi and Jungkook are fighting the lyric is ‘my love stripped bare/the stormy winds) 
  • Run if you look at it has very very romantically charged lyrics that are constantly being related to the m/m interactions on screen
  • Religious imagery is often used in a lot of gay literature….. there’s also a lot in bts music videos for example the young forever trilogy can be taken as young forever signifying purgatory, fire signifying hell and save me signifying heaven) and also, in bs&t, especially in ref. to Demian by Herman Hesse (which heavily discusses looking at scripture differently from how it’s taught) 
  • In Young Forever, lyrics such as ‘mixed feelings, I tried to hide it but I can’t’ can be taken as… kinda gay
  • The Young Forever Jacket Shoot……. the hot air balloon looks like a rainbow flag that is all
  • Demian is explicitly and heavily referenced throughout the wings era and……. the next few points I’m just going to go over just how gay this is to reference
  • So first things first, this story has much of the same staples as many other 20th century gay German writings 
  • It follows Sinclair as he struggles against temptation (which is represented by his closeness to Demian, who teaches him about questioning religious dogma) and basically the whole thing is a lot of….. denial of attraction
  • Gender is also dealt with in the story and is often subverted and skewed subtly (although most of the academic info I could find just mentioned it as like……. a lesser version of what Hesse did in Siddhartha)… he possible female love interest is described as ‘boyish’, Demian and his mother are complexly dealt with……. it’s very interesting to pick apart
  • Sin is a huge huge huge huge thing
  • There’s also a moment which gets referenced in the Wings short films with the paintings where Sinclair tries to draw the aforementioned female love interest but the painting ends up being of demian and this is… super gay in the way that it’s written
  • I basically went through the entire text and highlighted all the parts that in a serious academic essay would be used as evidence of a gay reading of demian………. ¾ was highlighted 
  • so boy meets evil…… it’s all about temptation…. forbidden attraction…. feeling ashamed about who you love and what you feel…. please give me a heterosexual explanation for this i beg you
  • Blood sweat and tears……….. I don’t even have to go into detail because it’s pretty blatant but…. I’ll try
  • The swing is… very much used a motif for orgasm it’s like…. very very very obvious - made gayer by the fact Jungkook has a lollipop in his mouth
  • ‘I’ll drink you deep right now, a whisky called you’………………. where’s the hetxplanation
  • When the candle drips on Jungkook’s finger…. and then he puts it in his mouth…………………… 
  • A film called Chatroom is referenced in Yoongi and Jimin’s scenes in that room and whilst this film doesn’t have a gay storyline it does have a m/m kiss at it’s climax
  • During Yoongi’s ‘kiss me on the lips, a secret between just the two, deeply poisoned by the jail of you’ line there’s a very very deliberate shot of jungkook
  • …..the blindfold…. especially when you see it integrated into the lie choreography…
  • uh…. namjoon blowing out that smoke just as jungkook is in the air???
  • HE too was a tempter HE too was a link to the second….
  • Yoongi holding Jimin’s hand on the way out
  • The entire kiss sequence…. holy hell like please can someone straight explain a way to interpret this as something not gay; Jin kisses a male figure, it goes to a shot of Tae smiling (thus implying through the shot- reverse shot-shot that the statue is Taehyung)…. and then rainbows start bleeding from the statue???? 
  • Also this whole sequence is basically a gayer version (if it’s possible) of the last scene of Demian where Demian kisses Sinclair
  • also just………………… the MAMA awards moment between jin and tae happened
  • There’s loads of explanations of how gay the songs are on wings….
  • in the wings tour trailer…. like the swing in bs&t the boys being in the air… it’s a metaphor
  • jin kissing himself in his reflection the tour trailer…. the whole sequence between the shots of this where Jimin uncovers his eyes !!! also the shot of jungkook in the air just after
  • jungkook putting his paint covered fingers in his mouth………. again
  • both at MAMA and in the wings tour trailer we see hobi’s boy meets evil choreo and jimin’s lie choreo being linked (and also in the JPN version of blood sweat and tears) 
  • the fact that tae has the wings in the tour trailer just makes the reading of him as the statue in bs&t more and more obvious
  • the rainbow butterfly painting
  • jungkook’s rainbow tears
  • the spring day choreo…. there’s lots of moments; jimin and yoongi back to back, tae and jin towards the end, jin and jimin at the very end
  • namjoon sleeping on tae’s shoulder in spring day
  • also just the whole ynwa jacket shoot….. like what kind of soft gay aesthetic both the wings shoots were so… soo…. gay and good
  • spring day moments…. jin piercing jimin’s ear with a pin…. jungkook resting on namjoon’s shoulder… snuggly boys on the bed… 

Clever things in Be More Chill that make that me smile

  • Jeremy’s theme and the Squip’s theme are very similar to one another, following deep tech-y undertones with high pitched slow almost 8-bit melodies
  • Jeremy’s theme has the melody of “It helps you to beee cooooooool” that’s sung in The Squip Song, immediately providing foreshadowing without question that Jeremy will take the squip because the melody for its function is literally inside of Jeremy(‘s theme)
  • All songs focused on Jeremy or Michael (Michael in the Bathroom, More Than Survive, Two Player Game, etc) begin with 8bit/piano single note melodies
  • “Come on” is always used in the context of the erotic, including sex, overt happiness, and romance
  • “If this were an apocalypse, I would not need any tips, in how to stay alive…But since the zombie army has yet to descend…” directly correlates when the students become ‘zombies’ in The Play (“you have to really sell that you’re turning into a zombie!”) because of the squip and Jeremy does know what to do, because of his video game
  • Speaking of the video game, it’s called Apocalypse of the Damned, the apocalypse referring both to the first quote above and to the students becoming zombies in The Play. The Damned part refers to those turned over by the squip, as the Squip calls them the “pitiful”, or damned children
  • When characters are directly controlled by the Squip, their voice has a mechanical overtone, like when Rich is explaining about the pill the second time in The Squip Song, when the Squip talks about what Jeremy has to do for him in Be More Chill (part 1)
  • Whenever the Squip is convincing Jeremy of something, like how everything about him is terrible or that the Squip will save the “pitiful children” and so on, he uses the voices of the other students in the school, which I always think is a nice parallel by the end during Voices in My Head
  • When Jeremy has to repeat after the Squip in Be More Chill (part 1) the music in the background resembles waltz music, a dance often used in media to portray tension between characters (you know, those classic scenes of the couple with sexual tensions, or when a detective and partner must dance to get close to the bad guy, or when a hero and supervillain dance together because they’re both in disguise at a party, etc etc) but in this case it shows how in tune with one another the Squip and Jeremy are
  • The Squip refers to Jeremy as Hamlet when he’s being overdramatic which is a reference to how Hamlet pretended to ‘be crazy’ to get what he wanted, but now Jeremy is pretending to ‘be more chill’ to get what he wants.
  • “Do you wanna ride” and “do you wanna hang” both refer to sex (obviously) and they are paralleled with the girls referring to it happening somewhere with parents (ie, “my mother’s car” or “Jake’s parents’ room”). The Squip also interferes both times to push Jeremy to participate, by manipulating him into saying yes to the ride or disabling his legs at the party
  • Brooke/Chloe refer to Jeremy as “Jerry” a few more times even after he corrects them
  • Even though the Squip says for Jeremy to repeat him and he says “Everything about YOU is so terrible” Jeremy repeats it as “Everything about ME is so terrible” because the Squip is an abusive computer

Ei Wada

Another great short documentary from tocotocotv focuses on Japanese new media artist who loves old redundent media, creating new musical instruments.

In this episode, we follow Ei Wada, a young artist evolving in Tokyo, whose universe revolves between music and contemporary art. The instruments he uses for his compositions vary between open reel recorders and all types of old appliances, such as electric fans or televisions. Wada performs in a band named “Open Reel Ensemble”, and also works on various solo projects such as “Electronicos Fantasticos!”, he is also in charge of music for the shows of world-renown brand Issey Miyake during the Paris Fashion Week.

We will follow him in the Sumida district, located in Eastern Tokyo, where Wada has an atelier for one of his projects. Our first stop will be at Retro Enterprises, an old camera shop, which is also the only place in Asia where one can develop 8mm film, Wada often goes there to find inspiration and learn the staff’s techniques to preserve old media.

We will then head towards the Yoshinari steel factory, a local workshop that specializes in a specific type of part for daily-use objects, before heading over Topping East, where Wada does part of his work. He will share more about his universe, his inspirations and his motivations behind giving a new life to appliances that have become obsolete with time.

On this day in music history: June 4, 1988 - “Stronger Than Pride”, the third studio album by Sade is released (UK release is on May 3, 1988). Produced by Sade, Ben Rogan and Mike Pela, it is recorded at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, The Bahamas, Studio Marcadet in Paris, France and Studio Miraval in Le Val, Var, France from Mid 1987 - Early 1988. Coming after the back to back multi-platinum success of “Diamond Life” and “Promise”, it is Sade’s first new release in over two and a half years. Featuring more of the bands trademark smooth jazz/R&B sound, it vividly reflects locales in which it was recorded. After releasing their first two albums just a year apart (ten months in the US), it also marks the beginning of the band taking longer and longer hiatuses between recording and touring. It spins off four hit singles including “Paradise” (#1 R&B, #16 Pop), “Nothing Can Come Between Us” (#3 R&B), and “Turn My Back On You” (#12 R&B). The album is remastered and reissued on CD in 2000, with a limited edition numbered audiophile LP pressed on 180 gram vinyl released by Audio Fidelity Records in 2014. Music On Vinyl also reissues the title on vinyl the same year as the AF LP, and is the current issue in print. “Stronger Than Pride” peaks at number seven on the Billboard Top 200, number three on the R&B album chart, and is certified 3x Platinum in the US by the RIAA.

It’s been a while since Y/n had seen him. Never had she thought the time would come that he’d be finally calling her phone, in such a long period of time. Six an a half years is a long time to wait. Especially for an ex. 

“I’m glad you had time to see me, Y/n. It’s been so long.” 

Y/n smiles politely, looking down at the cup of tea her company had ordered for her. 

“Well, I gotta admit, it was quite the surprise when you called, Newton.” 

“Newt. Please, call me Newt. You’re one of the very few that I allow to, and…I miss how it sounds coming from your mouth.” He chuckles, rubbing the back of his neck in nervousness. “S-Sorry, that um..sounded bloody creepy, but you get my point.”

Sighing heavily, her politeness was slowly starting to fade away. She knew what this was, she wasn’t stupid. In the past six years Y/n has gotten not one phone call or text message from this guy, and then all of sudden here he is acting all awkward and charming at the same time. Setting her cup down after taking a short gulp of it, she finally makes eye contact with the man before her.

“Look, Newton. Things didn’t work out between us because you loved your music more than I.” 

“That’s not true-”

“Let me finish,” She holds her hand up, silencing him. “I was understanding, I was fair and actually wanted you to be happy and let you go. I moved on. Which was a mistake, I’ll admit, but it helped my unhappiness turn into something else. I fell in love again. And now that I am once again heartbroken, you decide to turn up, saying sweet nothings to me as if all of what you put me through never happened. Now how is that fair to me? ” 

“Love, I came back for you because I realized my only dream was with you. You were my dream.” 

“Oh, cut the bullshit.” 

Newt’s eyes widen at her venomous tone. Last time he had spoken to Y/n, she had such a sweet demeanor about herself, everything about her was kind and gentle. Earlier on this little gathering she was calm and collected, but now she is speaking to him in such a way he had never heard her speak before. 

“What’s happened to you?” 

“Life, Newton. Life fucking happened to me. You wanna know what I’ve been through? You leave me for your stupid music career, not even returning my calls or emails or letters. Then, when I finally move on to another guy, I find out he’s cheating on me with some bitch for nearly half of the time we’ve been together, then trying to make me seem like the bad guy! And now that I’m somewhat over him, you show the fuck up! Out of nowhere!”

“Love, calm down-”

“Don’t you tell me to calm down! I deserve to be fucking mad! I put up with so much, sticking up for guys that don’t deserve it, and I wonder why I end up the same way! Heartbroken!” By now, she was starting to draw attention to their table, alarming a certain few while the others watched with anticipation. Newt stands up slowly with his hands up, trying not to provoke her any further. 

“Y/n, please, I didn’t mean to struck a nerve-”

“Bullshit!”

“Can you please talk to me without cursing at me, for bloody sake?” 

“I just think it’s a coincidence how you show up, right when I start to get out of my funk and feel better about finally leaving that dickhead. Were you just waiting for the perfect opportunity to make your way back into my life? When I was at my most vulnerable? Well, news flash for you, buddy! The only thing you’re getting from me, are these hands!”

Y/n was about to jump right over the table and tackle the poor, confused, Brit. Luckily, someone was able to grab her by the waist at the right time before she could even cross the table. Holding her close to their chest, Newt was able to take a few steps back, while making eye contact with the person behind her. Y/n squirmed against their hold, until the familiar scent of pine clogged her nostrils. Her squirming ceased. For now.

“Who the bloody hell are you?” 

“Oh, you don’t remember me, Newtie? I’m hurt, I thought we had something special.” 

Once Newt’s eyes actually scanned his face, he glared. Lowering his hands from his self-defense stance, he crossed them over his chest. “Very funny, Pan. I see that you didn’t change at all. Except for getting uglier, of course.”

“And you’re still the same after all these years, as well. Except you’re still single.” 

Y/n pushes away from Peter with great force, nearly knocking him backwards. Straightening out her shirt, she huffs in anger. “What the hell are you doing here? Where’s your little sex toy?” 

Peter drew his attention to Y/n, the playful glint in his eyes turning melancholy. 

“Y/n, I know I am the last person you want to see right now, and I understand that. I was a completely asshole, and deserve to burn in hell for what I did behind your back. But, if you give me a moment to explain-”

“So it’s you.” Newt connects, as a grin started to form on his face. “You’re the one who cheated, while you were still in the relationship with Y/n. Did you honestly think you would get away with that?”

“Can we talk somewhere a little more private, love?” 

“No. And don’t call me that. We can settle this right here, right now. I’ve been waiting to actually kick your ass, now that the tears finally stopped. Do you realize how humiliated you made me feel after that night? How absolutely filthy you left me? And you had some nerve to try and blame me! The only person that saw good in you, cared for you, loved you!” Each word spoken was a shove to his chest, which he happily took. He was just glad that she was actually talking to him. 

“I understand that you are in pain-”

“Oh, you can’t even begin to understand! Giving your love to someone who you thought was the one, only to have it blow up in your face, you have no idea what that feels like!”

“I could’ve warned you in the first place, Y/n. It’s your own fault for thinking a bloke like Pan would ever-” Before he could finish his unneeded input, Y/n picked up his cup of tea and threw what was left of it into his face. It was just hot enough to prove a point: for him to shut the fuck up. “Ahh! Mother of fu-Jesus Christ! Shit, shit, shit, shit! Bloody, burning hell!” 

Newt rushes to find the nearest bathroom, a few workers following behind him, as others just stare in shock or gaze in amusement. Placing the cup back on the table, Y/n turns back to Peter, with rage darkening her eyes. 

“Y/n, I-”

“I thought I told you to stay the hell away from me. How did you even know I was here?” 

“That’s not important, what’s important is us fixing this problem that we have-”

We don’t have a problem! You do, and only you! I was perfectly happy being with you, I didn’t care what people said about your past relationships because none of that mattered, it’s in the past for a reason! I didn’t care when they called you bad news, I didn’t care that my parents didn’t approve of you, and I didn’t care how much we argued over stupid shit! What I cared about was you, and how much I loved you. You were there when Newt left, you were my friend, someone I could talk to when I needed it. You listened, you cared…And when you asked me out, I thought moving on was too good to be true, but you changed that. And look where it got us! Five fucking years I gave to you, and this whole time that was just a game to you.”

“It wasn’t a game-” 

“Hearing a lot of bullshit today, you know. You knew exactly what you were doing, Peter. And you knew the person you did it with I despised, yet you still did it anyway.” Tears were starting to form in her eyes, as the heat of the moment was dying down and reality was coming back to her. The man that broke her already bruised heart was standing right there, with the guts to say that he didn’t mean what he did. What does he take her for, a fool? 

“Y/n, what I did was unforgivable, we both know that. But, love, I regret it.”

“Is that supposed to make me feel better? Three words that don’t matter at all to me? I regret giving you my time, mind, body and soul. I regret thinking that scum like you could ever change. I regret loving you, Peter Pan. So I’ll say it again, since you obviously didn’t listen the first time. Stay. The hell. Away. From me.” 

With that said, Y/n left money on the table and took her leave. Storming outside the door, she roughly wiped the single tear that escaped her eye before anyone could see. 

She was so over crying.

But, the sound of the door chimes made her stop only for a second. He seriously could not be trying to chase after her, could he? The rapid footsteps confirmed that prediction, making her bite the inside of her cheek, to stop herself from doing anything she’ll regret. Again. 

“Y/n, please! You gotta listen to me, love-”

“I don’t want anything to do with you, Peter. Just crawl back to wherever you came from, and forget we ever existed. Let me move on! Live your own life, so I can get on with mine!”

“Y/n, baby, I’m begging you!”

“Nothing you can say or do will change my mind, Peter-!” 


“ M A R R Y   M E ! ” 


In that moment…everything just stops.

From the noisy traffic, to the beating of her own heart. 

It was silent.

With her covered mouth agape, Y/n stands there in complete and utter disbelief. Seeing that he now had her attention, Peter slowly descended to one knee, staring up at her with eyes that were filling with tears. 

“Y/n L/n. Will you marry me?”
